In lieu of Stuff Your Kindle day, can we talk about the issue of how the m/m genre of books, romance or not, is almost entirely dominated by women? Can we talk about how the most recognisable gay couples in media are written by women? Can we talk about how queer men can't even write about ourselves, how we are only allowed to exist when it's from the point of view of a straight woman sexualising us?

Can we talk about that? Or am I going to get called misogynistic for pointing out the disparity between who gets the writing deals, & who gets their books turned into movies, & whose shit gets popular versus whose doesn't? Can we talk about how m/m fiction is only allowed when it appeals to a cishet gaze, or is that too much for tumblr to take?

Can we also talk about how trans queer men are even more hated by publishing? Can we talk about how we get shit from both sides? Can we talk about how books about the experiences of being a queer man, written by queer men, never get the same recognition as books written by women on this subject (barring academia which has its own problems)?

I've seen, repeatedly, that every accusation is a confession from the political right and honestly nothing rings more true to that than the claim that university is liberal indoctrination and this is a problem for right wingers for reasons I can't identify when they have the Joshua Generation.

I'm actually surprised I don't see more people who left this lifestyle as adults who were raised into it speaking up about this stuff. There's more of it now, half these things were mentioned in the Shiney Happy People doc and I found out about the Joshua Generation from a podcast called Kitchen Table Cult that is hosted by 2 people who left similar beliefs to the Duggars but I'm honestly surprised it's not like. A huge thing in news everywhere but that's probably because this type of shit isn't even a blip on the map of all the fucked up things the political right does so often it's exhausting to keep up with let alone hold anyone accountable for. Too busy bitching that trans people shit and do so in public bathrooms sometimes. Priorities, you know. It's even been like a day or two and I just cannot believe it even happened

So there's this girl in my math class, her name's JJ. just so y'all know what sorta person she is, she's one of THOSE mha fans. Like ableist, fetishizes gay men, all that. So she comes up to me on Halloween and goes, "ooh you look like a baby doll." And I go, "thank you I guess?" And she says, "yeah that's a compliment." Already this conversation is a little odd, so I just try to ignore her so she'll go away. Instead of leaving she, (without asking btw,) starts messing around with my dress and pulling it up and around to the point where if I hadn't been very lucky I would have accidentally flashed someone. So I'm weirded out and rightfully so, so I tell her to stop, and for a couple seconds she does. Then she starts trying to mess with my dress again, but she's not as low on my dress anymore and she grabs my stomach. She realized that it's not my petticoat and let's it go. She says "what's that? Is that your stomach?" AND I SHIT YOU NOT, SHE GRABS MY STOMACH AGAIN, STARTS SQUISHING IT. AND THEN SHE SAYS, "aww your stomachs so squishy," AND KEEPS FUCKING PINCHING MY STOMACH. 🧍 I'm just standing there. Speechless. Flabbergasted. People start turning to look at her because they want to know what's going on, and I am mortified. Idk what to do at this point, so I just start grabbing my things to leave. Right before I walk out the door, she catches up to me. She says, "you would be a great hugger, you're so soft." 😧🧍I was so done. I didn't even respond I just kinda speed walked off really fast. Still thinking about it, I dont even know what to say, but I am seething

what the fuck is conservatives' problem with hormone blockers. I don't get it. they whine and complain and make laws against giving kids hormones because "they're too young to decide and will regret going through the wrong puberty so young." so we said okay, we will just block puberty until they are adults so they have time to decide and aren't taking hormones as kids. AND THESE PIECES OF SHIT HAVE ISSUES WITH THAT TOO. they suddenly decide that (trans)kids must be forced to go through wrong puberty.

do you acknowledge that they are directly targeted by many bills that also target trans people or do you say that they're just another group being indirectly targeted by anti-trans bills?

do you say that no kids are being forced on hrt or do you acknowledge that intersex babies are often forced on hrt?

do you acknowledge that intersex people can often have a complex experience with gender or do you just scream "intersex people can be cis too!!" whenever an intersex trans person tells you to stop disregarding their unique relationship with gender?

do you see a post asking for people to listen to intersex people and respond without sexualizing us or do you conflate your allyship with sexuality by saying "yeah i'd totally fuck an intersex person!"?

do you call animals with intersex conditions "trans icons" or do you actually acknowledge their intersex conditions?

do you treat us like human beings or do you ask us invasive questions about our genitals like we're some kind of lab rats?

do you listen when we tell you not to call us hermaphrodites or do you just make the excuse that animals are called hermaphrodites so you should be allowed to call us that too?

do you acknowledge intersex transfems and transmascs regardless of their casab or do you screech about how intersex people are co-opting your terms?

do you try and group intersex people under terms like amab/afab and tme/tma without acknowledging their actual experiences or do you just yell about how intersex people are trying to take your language away? (edit: this also includes very conveniently not mentioning intersex people's concerns and experiences when yelling about this)

do you acknowledge that not all intersex people are white? do you care about intersex poc?

do you care about us outside of the times that you can use us against transmisic people as a gotcha?
