i had a Wof Idea so i'm putting it here cause whatever.

what if two tribes, who lived in very close proximity, started interbreeding more? it would make sense, seemingly the only barrier to more hybrid dragons are cultural taboo and distance. if two tribes were living as one tribe and very close to each other, it would seem that after a while there would be no real barriers. therefore, we can assume that these two tribes would meld into one, as unlike real life, hybrids in wof usually do not seem to be infertile. (tell me if i'm wrong.) canon proof of this is the hivewings. this may very well be observed in the rainwings/nightwings as they are now under one queen. under, i'll describe what i think the resulting single tribe would be!

stormwings. this tribe's abilities vary, but the average stormwing has one or two of these traits:

•rainwing venom

•starry scales/wings

•color changing scales (note: all stormwings that have this trait can only change to dark shades, and if they have starry sclaes they cannot get rid of them by changing color)

•prehensile tail, frills, rainwing build

•improved immune system

•nightwing build; chunky with short snout

extra notes:

•fire breathing is not able to pass down in stormwings.

•stormwings do not gain powers based on moons when they hatched, cannot read minds or forsee future

•however, stormwing eggs are wired to hatch at night like nightwings

•all stormwings' eyes are affected by the moons they hatched under. all have white pupils based on how many moons there were. if there was one full moon and no other moons, the dragon will have one circular pupil in each eye. if they were born under two crescents and no other, they will have two crescent-shaped pupils in each eye, etc etc

•following this, the rest of the eye will look like the night sky when the stormwing hatched

More stuff about moonwings

ok I'm feeling enthusiastic and it never lasts long so I'm gonna do smth with it

. Their primary colour is mid-grey to obsidian Black

. Secondary is yellow, purple or blue

.They are ruled by Queen Andromeda

.They are named after constellations, stars, planets, or galaxies

.They have ginormous moth wings that can bear different patterns, all of which relate to a real type of moth

.My favourite of these patterns is definitely the polyphemus moth cuz it would have all of the colours of its body, but with EYES 👁️👁️

.On the powers side of things, they are somewhat similar to night wings in that they can (sort off) read minds, and tell when others lie, while not being able to lie themselves. They're wings change colour depending on their emotions similar to a Rainwing but again, ONLY their wings change.

.I view them as a very peaceful tribe because at night everything is quiet and still because animals are asleep, so I feel their personality would reflect that.

.more on their appearance, they have large moth wings, little poofy antenna like a poodle moth, very sharp teeth for snagging things out of trees or the sky, (possums, rats, bats, sleeping birds, etc)

.I think they would look really goofy when they fly. Like they would wobble side to side a ton

.OOOO maybe they have teeth like toothless does in httyd in that they can retract? But not retract like disappear, they can't disappear but they can lengthen to help catch prey.

.I'm struggling to think of where they live? I think they're to colourful to make sense in a cave environment, y'know caves are dark and gloomy and cold? I feel like they are more tropical creatures

Please note some of these ideas are influenced by other incredible people not just me, and you can always add on to it + make your own interpretation :)

Ok, Wof AU time!

A AU where out of a fear of Darkstalker coming back or any dragon like him being born some Icewings and nightwings start a small group, which after 2000 years becomes it's own tribe, you can call them whatever you want, I call them the stormwings. Stormwings have gray or white and black scales, they have lost the ability to see the future as good as their ancestors but they do have vivid dreams of the future, they also make storm clouds using their fire and ice breath, only half of them can breath fire while the others breath ice, on rare occasions a stormwing will be born with animus magic, in these cases they are raised by the Queen to use their powers very rarly and to never harm any dragons. During the sandwing succession war the stormwings don't join anyone, their queen during the time is Queen Rain, she declared the war a waste of time as despite all the time the stormwings still fear Darkstalker and anyone like him. Arch 2 would be more interest but this is getting long so I'll stop on this for now.

So, I picked up Wolf Speaker again for no real reason and I got to the scene with Maura and Rikash and Daine, where he says that Stormwings love children, but specifically, they love neglected children.

And... I think I've never thought this through before, but the implications of the creatures that exist as like, condemnations of war are also, the patrons of neglected children... they are very much.
