Like, sure, Henderson pisses him off sometimes, but would Steve ever wish him away? Of course not. The goblins may as well just keep Toby, they can’t do worse than Sarah

And then they get to the Magic Dance scene and Steve promptly forgets whatever he’d been complaining about because-

The trend in early 90s to mid-aughts scifi shows to shove a bland white dude in the middle of a verdant alien world baffles me.

I am not even halfway through rewatching Farscape, and two of the alien crew - who we are introduced to via their dialogue, giving us ample worldbuilding to delve into, unique perspectives and interactions based on cultures and heritage we have yet no context for but can still puzzle out - have had more impact on me than I suspect John Crichton ever will over the next 5 seasons.

Is it any wonder I find writing human characters so tedious?

maybe for the first night of hanukkah i should share a clip from MUCH MUCH LATER ON in wriggle up on dry land where, partially as a result of his recently shifted family structure, roy gets a bee in his bonnet and decides to take steps to actively celebrate in his own home for the first time in years. (he usually bops over and lights candles with phoebe but he doesn’t even own a menorah. but this year feels… well this year is different. so as awkward and strange and uncertain as he feels this is important to him, because he wants to celebrate a holiday in his home with his kid and the person he’s sort of accidentally kind of parenting with and so there.)

how will has so many moments in the show where he's been shown genuine love in every form, and how those will likely be used in some kind of mind-fight sequence between him and henry, where he's blasting these into henry's mind to fight off the darkness and/or to show him everything that he missed out on in life,

because time and time again will has been shown to show everyone mercy, kindness, and compassion, even when he had every reason not to, even when it came at the cost of himself, even when it wouldn't have hurt anyone for him to be selfish,

because will knows what it's like to have a parent that should love you, hate you for things you can't control bc they think you were just Born Wrong, and he knows what it's like to not fit in with other kids, and he knows what it's like to be Different,

but he also knows what it's like to have a mother that would do anything in the entire world for him, to have friends who would do anything to get him back, to have people who don't even know him risk their lives to help him, to play a game where he can be big and strong and defeat monsters with those he loves most in the world, to have siblings that love him and support him no matter what, to have someone who he can tell the scariest thing he's ever felt and have them love him unflinchingly anyway,

and so he wants to give henry a taste of it, to show him no, you're wrong. people are worth saving. they are worth loving and protecting. there will always be people who will see you, accept you, and love you for exactly who you are. i'm sorry about what happened to you, and to me, and to everyone else like us. but there is love, light, and goodness in the world, too, and it's worth protecting. it's worth living for. i don't forgive you and you will never have this, but i will allow you to hold it for a moment, to feel it for the first and only time in your life, because you need this more than i do, and you can stab your hate into it all you want, but this is what's saved me before and it's what'll kill you again, for good this time.

i’ve been preparing for years now to go off grid, I’m from the concrete jungle and one thing I’ve been getting familiar with is all these types of critters I will probably share the land with one day

so i just wanted to thank you truly for all that you share, your posts have helped calm any nervousness in me for these little animals

Oh wow, that's like really nice? Thanks for that! But also, please make sure to do your own research, especially when it comes to anything edible or plants/mushrooms (I'm terrible at IDing them😅).

I've been into animals since I was a kid, but it is still a hobby I'm in no means professional, so it's possible some of my info could be wrong. I was actually corrected before on here about a jumping spider I'd misidentified.

My biggest advice honestly is know for sure what sort of edible things you're picking, because there's countless mimic plants (and animals for that matter), and never touch a critter unless you're absolutely sure you know how to handle it. Even then, you should probably just leave it alone unless it's in immediate danger like in a road or smth.

Look at your state/area's official DEM sites or local ranger/wildlife sites. Because we might live in different areas and animals can act different depending on their climates, how much food they have access to, and a hundred other things that can be different from area to area.

So like, thanks so much, it really does mean a lot, but always do your own research!
