STREAMY AWARDS - caseoh

for the first time ever, you were about to go into public with your boyfriend, case. some may say it’s classed as a ‘hard launch’. no one really knows about your relationship, which the both of you agreed on, it was reassuring to know that the relationship was private and that you didn’t have to deal with people creating rumours and getting to simply avoid hate.

but, you realised the more you’d be spending time with each other people would soon catch on, so its best to just come out with it now.

as you stood in front of the mirror, admiring the dress you had chosen for tonight. it was a beautiful black fitted dress, with an open back and a slit down the side, you looked absolutely gorgeous. you had paired it with some black chunky heels, case had bought you for your anniversary one of the years.

to complete the look, you slipped on some jewellery, rings, bracelets and necklaces. you had hoped you weren’t TOO overdressed, but at the end of the day..this was the streamy awards.

“hey hone- woah..” you heard next to you, turning your head to the bedroom door, you saw case. he was wearing some smart trousers and a simple black button up. it was unusual to see him wearing something to smart, but god he pulled it off.

his curls were probably cared for and styled, thanks to you, and his beard had been cleaned up a little and blessed with oils and cream.

“you look beautiful!” he exclaimed as he walked over to you, placing his hand on the small of your back and looking down at you. keeping his eyes at a respectful level.

“you don’t think i’m too overdressed?” you asked, a little uncertainly laced your voice.

case frowned at you “overdressed? absolutely not. you look perfect, like you always do” and with that he pressed a small kiss to your temple.

“now let’s go before i change my mind and take a nap” he spoke as he booked us and uber to the venue. he was adamant on taking his truck, but you knew the both of you would have a drink or two and drink driving is, in fact, illegal.

on the way there case noticed the way your knee bounced, and the way you chewed your lip. he placed his hand on your knee and squeezed it gently.

“hey, don’t be stressing yourself out lovie. it’s no biggie, if people have stuff to say then, let them say what they want. their feelings and opinions won’t change the way i feel about you baby” you softly smiled at him, you knew case loved you dearly and he was right, no matter what anyone said, this man loved you unconditionally.

“thank you, im just nervous that people won’t like me too much…” you admitted, he nodded a long as you spoke.

“i know i know, but let them think what they want. it won’t change anythin’ , you are a beautiful woman with an even more wonderful personality. plus, you are stressin’ over something which won’t even happen. they are gonna love you”

before responding you had arrived at the venue, he stepped out the car and came to your door, he opened it and took you by the hand. you flashed him a generous smile and wrapped your hand around his bicep.

“just show em that pretty smile baby” he spoke as you both walked into the main lobby.

the rest of the evening was extremely nerve wracking for you, but case was right. everyone who spoke to you LOVED you, you were a delight to be around, not only that but people saw how much you genuinely cared for case.

case adored the way you effortlessly made conversation with people no matter how nervous you were, he loved the way you looked in the light, he loved the way you smiled, he loved how you’d glance at him every so often to make sure he was okay. he just, loved you.

and, god, he was glad he was here with you. the impression you left on everyone was nothing but good.

um im just scrolling through the streamys tag and i saw your posts and i thought "oh they seem cool i wonder what the blog is like"... then i went scrolling and you mentioned link coming out??? huh??? Hello! Sorry for the late reply, hope you get to see this.

The answer is... yes and no. While there isn't anything explicit / certain / definite over all this time, it seems there is some restlessness on their side, with several projects such as their recent scripted videos, but also as far back as Hazel, the GMEs and Ear Biscuits that point towards the possibility of them taking a very slow, long way towards this direction, especially Link. In fact it seems like Link can't stand being in the closet anymore but Rhett dreads leaving it. That's my general impression.

While I might be considered the most stark supporter of this theory around here (or at least the one who verbalizes it the most), a few days ago more people started considering it thanks to a moment during GME where Link did something very close to a coming-out.

In case you haven't watched any of the GMEs, GME (Good Mythical Evening) is a paid live show they do once a year, which is like the strictly adult version of GMM. There, strong references to sex are allowed and they also drink enough to get inebriated and foul language is also allowed to some degree.

All that on its own would be already a lot to consider, but GME has also strong homoerotic traits since Rhett and Link play a lot with their ship there. Last year, they re-enacted rhink fics where they were having sex (basically handjobs?), I don't remember exactly. And they acted LIKE they were doing it. This year, they took it up a notch and Rhett actually sucked Link's nipple, among other things. And I mean, he really did it. For a few seconds. But he did it...properly. Don't ask me why they do this stuff. I don't know. I think nobody knows. I am just presenting you the facts so I can give you an idea about what is going on.

So, during a game in this latest GME, this dialogue took place regarding what the act of "docking" is:

Rhett: I was right! It is a gay thing! Stevie: Whaaat? I mean, well, Link also agreed with your answer so... Rhett: We both get points! Hold on, though... one guy needs to be circumcised. Link: Yeah you only need one circumcision for docking. Stevie: Oh you're asking ME? Rhett: I think..... I don't know a lot about this but I think only one guy needs to be uncircumcised. Link: Do you think docking actually happens? Because I don't think docking increases pleasure. Rhett: I don't know, man. I can't do it, man. My parents didn't give me a choice. They just circumcised me, man. Link: I know, but even after you're circumcised, you can try. Rhett: With someone who's not circumcised...... And also, I am not gay. Link: Hey, that's okay. It's okay. Rhett: Yeah, I mean, it's cool to not be gay! Link: No, it's not "cool"- Rhett: No, it's "okay" to not be gay! By "cool" I meant it is "okay" to not be gay! Rhett (sarcastically): Don't you want more of this? Link: In the More. Stevie moves on with the game.

So, what happens next, Link also had two-three more moments when he seemed to consider talking about something and Rhett explicitly told him "Whatever it is you want to say, just keep it to yourself" and also in another moment "You can tell your Uber driver on your way home but not here".

During the More, at which Link hinted, there was a red box with nosy questions asked from the crew. Rhett was the one taking the questions and reading them. He chose to not read loudly and thus answer at least two questions, even though he pulled them out of the box.

Link eventually did not make any more similar statements.

You should also know that a couple of weeks ago, during the GME promo, Link had said that one reason we should watch the GME show was that he might even make an emotional speech before its end.

Another thing, the last months Link has also expressed in interviews and even in a college graduation that it is important to find who you are and explore your identity, addressing this especially to young adults. He always seems emotionally charged when he does it.

That's it. To me it just seems like there's one explanation only, but I will leave you to your own conclusions.

And one last detail. Rhett did everything in his power to not let Link finish what he started - almost bullied him out of it. Despite all that, notice what he said. While Link was trying to say whatever he was trying to say, Rhett said:

But we're not gonna be docking later.................. because we're both circumcised.

And he repeated the explanation once more.

Im going to put my opinions behind a cut because quite honestly, im going to get in trouble for something in here im sure.

So remember...opinions.

Ok, so to start, the first thing I thought was interesting about this interview was that they reached out to Tom Ward and asked to be interviewed by him.

Now, I don't know when they filmed this, but it was definitely after the controversies started, so this was definitely their way of sort of getting out there and letting a respectful debunker have a crack at them.

+1 for that. Smart move.

Now, before we even get into the Cody and Satori stuff...editing.

Are we allowed to talk about it, or shall I skip over the part where Colby explained their process as: "I'll take all the footage and cut it down, and then basically give it to another main channel main editor that we have that will do all the music, effects and all the texts and all that stuff, and then Sam kind of corrects that and manages that as well?"

MOVING ON to the meat of this whole thing: snc addressing the controversy at hand.

I have to give snc props for the way they handled all of this. They came across so open and not offended by any of the questions, and did exactly what I thought they should do. They gave their opinions as best they could, while repeatedly stating, "You'll have to ask Cody and Satori that," which YES. GOD. My whole problem with this thing (besides the vitriol) this whole time has been people coming after the wrong target.

So yea, snc tried their best to debunk everything, and they couldn't. When they saw some of the stuff about Cody's past coming out, they reached out to him for clarification and he gave them an answer that they repeated. Anything farther than that is on Cody and Satori to talk about from here on out.

Hopefully, this message finally gets through some thick fucking skulls out there.

Anyway, them being open and honest about certain things - like how yes, all their info is online and, in theory, could be looked up beforehand and used against them, and yes, they did sign waivers beforehand (but on the day of) and yes, they did find some of rhe stuff that came out after to be really weird and concerning (like the Fox Sisters being frauds, or Cody's 11 year old video) really helps show that they are genuine, and just kind of along for this ride with everyone else.

There were a few things that they said that I found interesting, like the fact that the Conjuring House makes them hand over the videos prior to them being posted for a watch-througj for accuracy, and that the secret message that they were told could possibly be shared some day but they have to clear it with certain people and be respectful of peoples' privacy.

I also found the Zumiez thing hilarious for 2 reasons: 1) I legit did not know there were still Zumiez out there, and 2) Sam stated at one point that this was their first brick and mortar merch line but they had merch in Hot Topic stores back in 2019 so...wtf Sam lol.

Also, why did Colby look like he had just woken up from the best weekend nap ever? Hair all flattened down, wearing what I honestly thought was a bathrobe for the entire interview (turna out it was a jacket but ive never exactly had eyes like a hawk so whatever)...dude looked like I look on every 9am conference call I ever got forced onto.

Anyway, I give them props for this. They were charming, genuine, open, not on the defensive at all, and threw absolutely nobody under the bus, while at the same time clearing their names of any wrongdoing in this matter. They utterly charmed Tom by the end, and judging from the comments, did charm a lot of people who were on the fence about them as well.

They're never going to win everyone over, but I think doing this interview at least helped to prove that they aren't about to start getting into the scripted series category of the streamys anytime soon.

Don't ask why I wrote this (thoughts on the latest Ear biscuit)

It's been a good while since I've written down my thoughts on an Ear biscuit episode. I can tell you, there are probably dozens of unfinished drafts saved on my tumblr. I'm determined to post this one - if that doesn't happen, hi, me, from the future, trying to cypher why this text never got posted.

This was the rpisode after Good Mythical Evening, and, as we learn from Link, Rhett is still sick, but I think it's safe to say he's not premused quite as dead as he was during the Streamys anymore. Because of all of my neuroses, I've been genuinely worried for a few days, but I guess it's okay to breathe again.

So, Link was doing the podcast with Jenna, and I have to say, this was an excellent episode. The past few times when Jenna had been on the podcast with both Rhett and Link, the dynamic has been a little off, more confrontational with Rhett and Jenna teaming up "against" Link (which of course is not really the case, but because I tend to see things more like Link than Rhett, I'm often rooting for him). This episode, Link and Jenna have a great discussion as complete equals, and it is really enjoyable.

First, Link and Jenna go through GME and the Streamys, and sounds like they are both proud of Link's performances on both occations. It seems Rhett was pretty sick on the night of GME already. I hope GME 4 happens next year, not just because I've loved every show thus far, but so they get a chance to do one with both guys not sick, and with the technical stuff going as planned.

My heart kinda melted, when Link said he was missing "his dude" at the Streamys, and turns out he had talked about what to say on stage with Rhett. The way he presented Mr Beast's award was epic, but apparently, had they won Show of the Year, something even better would have happened. Next year, maybe.

So, the majority of this episode is dedicated to a solo camping trip Link made (with Jasper) during their summer break. He compares notes with Jenna on why they both enjoy solo travels, and talk about things you gotta do to stay safe while staying in the wilderness alone.

The reason I ended up writing my thoughts about this episode, in particular, is that listening to Link and Jenna talk about how freeing solitude is. I got envious.

The reason I've been so absent from Tumblr and everything else is that with my parents getting older, a lot of my time these days involves me doing things for them. My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's last year, and he no longer has his driver's licence. My mom has had some pretty major health scares in the past year, and it's near a miracle she is currently alive and actually physically functional. As if these things weren't enough, my sister was diagnosed with cancer, went through surgery, chemo and radiation therapy in the past year, too. She is doing better, now, but with my parents and my sister all struggling, I've suddenly ended up being very necessary. And that means, the most time I've had for myself in the past few months has been two days at most, but usually, not a day goes by without someone needing my help. And, I could really use a solo trip right about now.

Link talked about how being alone gave him a sense of being fully in control, and that made him happy. And for Jenna, solitude meant freedom. I can relate to both of these feelings. I've never really been able to be truly myself when other people are around, and it can be really suffocating. For me, it took a world wide pandemic to figure out that I actually like being me, but the problems, the anxiety and stress, emerge when I'm expected to interact with other people. As much control as I have over my own existence, I can't control other people. I've tried, doesn't work.

I csn't wait to see the video version of this episode on Wednesday. Link showed Jrnna a video he had made while watching the sunset with Jasper. I'm not religious, nor particularly spiritual, but if I ever feel connrcted with the universe, it's when I'm in the wild, surrounded by the beauty of nature. One August night this summer, I sat in the dark, staring at the sky, searching for shooting stars. I was alone at that time, apart from a million mosquitoes eating my ankles, and at the same time, I felt free, yet not lonely. And then I heard something crack in the dark, and, because I was in my garden, I calmly stood up and walked inside.

So, yeah, after sll of this nonsensical rambling, what did I actually want to say? Enjoy the little moments in life, alone or with someone you love. If you can, go on a solo trip - and if that is not an option, go outside, look at the stars and breathe. And even if this text probably isn't the best ad for this Ear biscuits episode, listen to it.

I’m not trying to defend Sam, I’m just saying that we don’t know what their dynamic is. Maybe Colby is ok with it? And we don’t know when Sam hired the editor. He could of done it while Colby was going through treatment and he was caring for him. If he had to do cold capping on Colby every 30 minutes, he wouldn’t be able to edit or edit much.

Unless Colby has said it’s unfair and doesn’t think it’s right, we don’t really k ow how he’s feeling.

i think colby's fine with the arrangement assumingly, i'm just saying i don't think it's right lol

sam hired the editor last yearish, possibly the very beginning of this year before colby's cancer stuff. and i just went thru the two videos they posted during the time colby was about to go into chemo treatment and right after the chemo treatment was over. the first video has snc as the main editors, and then an assistant editor. then the next video is all three of them as editors. so clearly that means that even when colby was going thru treatment he was still editing.

this doesn't even count colby also edits all the exclusive content that gets posted on xplrclub. since he cuts the footage, he's the one that makes the videos on xplrclub of the deleted footage that didn't make the main channel video. and he even said this himself a while ago on xplrclub in a podcast or livestream.

it's hard to know if sam did any actual editing on these videos bc he's credited regardless of whether or not he actually worked on the video. it always says snc as editors. and at the very least we know colby did edit since his job from the get go is to cut footage.

i'm not saying sam doesn't edit at all anymore. what i'm saying is he literally wrote out a 20 page guideline on how to do his job, found someone to do it, and since has basically been a producer for the content rather than an actual editor. is it possible he's helping out here and there? yes. i'm not saying that isn't the case. but from colby's own mouth, sam doesn't physically cut or add anything to the videos himself. he gives notes. that's a direct quote from colby who had sam next to him who nodded and agreed. and if you want to say that sam is probably doing other work stuff, that's true. but so is colby. colby is putting in 12 hour shifts of editing when he can, and then going to the streamys or going to meetings or whatever else random business shit they have going on.

we can go back and forth on whether or not we know the whole story and i get that we don't but from what we do know, what snc have shared with us, is this: colby cuts the footage, it gets sent to someone else, sam gives notes, it gets sent back to the editor who fixes it, sam gives final notes, and then it gets posted.

if you think that is an even split, then we are on completely different pages and i'm not here to argue in circles over this. sam is in the wrong for calling himself an editor when that is not what he does, according to their own wording, anymore. fans giving credit to him, and him taking credit himself, is wrong to me. regardless of this whole timeline, the one thing that is for certain is that colby edits. no matter if he's sick or not, he still edits. he still cuts and watches hours of footage. sam doesn't and hasn't done that. and no longer does the part he used to do.

About your post about rell, there is a problem there, cause yeah Viego is more popular but Rell is more popular than olaf and Taliyah and taliyah was leaked to be part of Viego's band and Olaf, well... it's weird because even if Rell wasn't more popular than them she's still the "Iron Maiden" and has a direct conection to mordekaiser and she's not even a bad champion, shes a great tank if anything her ult and dismounted form need a change, i hope she gets a mini rework or at least a big buff if popularity is more important to them than the lore which tbh if the ruined king event is anything to go by we already know it's

It depends on where you look, if you look at OP.GG Olaf's pickrate makes him 137 out of 156 champs and Rell is at (she went up 6 spots) 141 out of 156. If you look at league of graphs, her pickrate is 2.7% and Olaf's is 2.3% HOWEVER Olaf was already in Pentakill. Wouldn't make sense if they just dropped him and added Rell. Also I'm digging through Reddit to see where it was leaked that Taliyah was in Viego's band...

Like I'm seeing his splash where people think they see Aatrox, Sion or Voli and two other people they dont know, but nothing about Taliyah. Oooooooooooh.... if you meant this

Gotta watch out for them notepad skinleaks with no sources... A lot of them are not accurate and complete BS made up by trolls to get people excited over skins that are never going to release. I've only seen ONE of these actually be true and this was back when Streamie, a Portuguese streamer, had someone inside Riot leaking her stuff. She leaked Lillia, Yone, the Spirit Blossom event, Samira, Psy Ops Sona, Seraphine, Battle Academia Caitlyn and Space Groove Blitzcrank. She no longer does leaks or streams as far as I know (I feel like her inside intel finally got caught). If you look at her youtube channel all of her videos have been either unlisted, privated or deleted. Who knows, this could be one of the really rare cases where this skin leak is actually correct but I highly doubt it. Like it'd be Taliyah's first non-blue skin, which Taliyah mains would be extremely excited about (omg... what if her ult was like.. her crowd surfing??) That'd be so fucking cool. I've honestly been holding out for Star Guardian Taliyah but there's not going to be any Star Guardian skins this year :'c Hopefully next year!~ ♥ Dude... Star Guardian Rell- where she like rides a pegasus or unicorn????? Ok- im getting really distracted. (but yea, pls dont believe notepad "skin leaks." 9 times out of 10 they're usually fake).

whats this stuff abt dream cheating on his speedrun im so confused

Aight so here’s a basic rundown:

So Dream has had some issues with the speedrun board of mods and stuff who validate runs before, even to the point where he decided to stop streaming speedruns on his Twitch because people throwing shade onto his runs was becoming frustrating.

Apparently today one of the main mods for that board uploaded an analysis of one of his submitted runs done before he stopped speedrunning live. It would have been a 16th place run at the time on the official board of it got approved, so not an overly huge placement.

Apparently the dude was working on this analysis for like two months. It provided some stats that he believed were indicative of some sort of mod that allowed Dream to cheat with certain mob drops, like blaze rods and ender pearl trades. He stated that it was incredibly unlikely these statistics aligned with even the 99th percentile possibility of things and compared some other runners’ probabilities to his own.

Dream made a tweet about it, clearly upset with the way that his 16th place run was being invalidated after two months of it going under suspicion. There’s been an ongoing trend where Dream’s name gets used in a lot of videos for clicks, so he felt as if that was a similar situation here. Mr. Beast, Karl, I believe TapL, and some others commented saying that the situation was definitely fishy and not fair to the work Dream puts in to complete his runs. Personally I don’t want to make any sort of accusation on either side, although I do agree with Dream here that the timing and everything of the analysis publication is a little...odd. Right before MCC and the Streamys, where Dream’s name would be circling already?? Holding onto the analysis and then posting - I believe without the input of the rest of the speedrunning board people - right now is a bit convenient, but idk. And for a 16th place run? Why would he go through the trouble of trying to find ways around the system if it’s not even a top 10 placement lol? He’s a member of the analysis team tho, so I mean it’s his job to look over stuff which I understand. It was just weird timing.

Should Dream have brought up the specific channel name of the guy who did the vid analysis in his tweet?? Mm, probably not. But then again, he’s had similar situations where people have outright accused him even when he’s been trying different seeds for hours on stream, so I can understand the frustration and I don’t think he meant to send like a hoarde of people over there to just ridicule the analysis.

Don’t worry too much about it tho cause to me it seems pretty minimal of a situation!! Dream still has an official 5th place run spot as well, and it looks as if there’s gonna be a discussion about it (apparently some of the other board mods are kinda thinking about leaving or smth) and a formal response from the blobby man himself, so honestly I think it’ll turn out fine. With all the times I’ve watched Dream’s speedrun streams and stuff, I really do trust that he’s being truthful here, yet then again the analysis creator has a right to counter as it’s kinda his job.

I’ve never done one of these before, but I also haven’t written anything original in months, so I brought out some new ocs! This was kinda hard but I like these guys and might sneak them into my wip! 

Meet Emerson, known asshole, Smith, known ghost, and Rogers, known coward. 

“What, may I ask, the actual fuck is a Streamy?”

I ignore the question and smack Smith away with a salt-covered hand. Smith skitters backwards with a hiss and a flutter of the curtains and flickering of the lights. Thankfully my laptop isn’t plugged in because there is no way in any of the hells that I can afford a new one. Not after last time.

“Personal space,” I snap, eye twitching. The costs of this operation are going through the roof already, what with the house and the new laptop and the new phone and the new everything because someone refuses to accept that electronics aren’t as dense as they were when he was a kid, like, a billion years ago. “Didn’t your mother ever teach you manners?”

“I was an orphan,” Smith says. 

“Not my problem. Now, listen, get close to me again, and I will call Rogers back in.”

Behind me, he shudders, the room’s temperature dropping a good couple of degrees. Thank God for the summer heat (for once, and never again.) I’m sure that Rogers, miles and miles away tucked under his sorry excuse for a church praying to whatever god he’s worshiping this week, is doing the same. Times like this make me wish I didn’t settle down here, or that I had picked a better haunting ground to steal in the name of fame, fortune, and a future in reality television. I made the active decision, after all, to buy a haunted house. Not only was it infinitely cheaper, but it gave me the ability to capitalize on the haunting with a YouTube series and an incredibly active Twitter account. This is my burden, for worse or for worse, and I brought it upon myself. Though if the gods are really this against me, I should have just stayed in the hospital. At least the ghosts there are competent.

Retirement came easy once I was told I would never walk again. Not like I can go around hunting ghosts and being the hero in a wheelchair, not until I can afford one that doesn’t break down every time I even think about leaving a hardwood surface (because even her extremely generous life insurance can only get so far.) And I had thought at the time that it would be good for me. Running around for so long, it’s tiring. Was tiring. I could go to therapy, finally, or get to work on that novel I’d been planning since middle school. 

And then I saw therapy costs and broke the lead on my pencil every time I tried putting it to paper, seeing her eyes as she-

Rogers told me to start a diary. Helped him when he was down, he said. But he was also curled up under my dining table clutching a bagel to his chest as Smith looked down upon us upside-down through the ceiling, concerned as ever. 

But pencils are bad. Pens are expensive, and they run out of ink too quickly (Smith keeps stealing them to write in his own diary up in the attic where he knows I can’t go and steal them back and also send his ass to the hells where he belongs.) Paper rips, and it cuts, and I don’t like bleeding all too much. But my laptop had a camera, a cheap one that was grainy and shitty and barely picked up audio after so long sitting in a case next to my bed gathering dust.

“So I just stand like... this?” Smith asks, head detached and tucked under his arm. He sticks his tongue out and widens his eyes until they’re, literally, the size of dinner plates.

Rogers, cowering under his hat, shakes his head. “Ah. No? I... Em?”

I roll my eyes and roll over to take Smith’s head and put it under his other arm, poking his eye in the process. He only protests a little. 

“What’s with the face?” I ask, nose wrinkled. “Aren’t you supposed to be, you know, scary?”

“I am.” Smith pouts, notably not scary. 

Smith is the least scary apparition I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Not only does he have all of his body parts intact (he died of poisoning, or something, fuck if I know or care), but he also cries when I even mention bringing out the holy water. One time he hid under Rogers’ coat when he came over, much to Rogers’ absolute horror and terror. But he also won’t be exorcised, no matter what I try. It’s annoying. There’s another ghost here somewhere perfect for this, I know, I feel. I can feel them sitting in the storm cellar by where Rogers says the apparent rows of shelves of empty, dusty jars sits. 

Rogers squeaks and pulls his hat lower over his face. “He is, he is! Em, please!”

I roll my eyes and pinch Smith’s cheek. Hard. “Could it kill you to try, you know, being the evil, demonic spirit you are?”

“I’m not evil. And I’m already dead, jackass.”

“Most assuredly dead,” Rogers agrees. 

In the cellar, I can faintly feel the presence floating up to listen, as it has been for the past week and a half as we try and get this pilot episode filmed. 

“Buzzed Feed isn’t going to pick us up if you. Are. Not. Scary!” I snap, pinching Smith’s cheek for emphasis. 

“Do you mean Buzzfeed?” Rogers asks. 

“The fuck is a Buzzfeed?” Smith asks. 

I groan and look to the presence beneath the floorboards. It’s laughing. I hate it. 

“Buzzfeed isn’t into this stuff, dude,” Rogers says. “You’re thinking of Netflix.”

“What’s a Netflix?” Smith asks. 

If she were alive, Sammi would be laughing at us. But she’s not, and I don’t think she would know what a ‘Net flicks’ is, either. 

“Didn’t you die in 2008?” Rogers asks, peeking out from under his hat. 

“1908.”

“Ah.”

“That’s a whole century apart! How did you get that wrong?”

“I’m sorry!”

I push myself back and away from the shitty ghost and the shittier exorcist with a huff, going to retrieve my laptop from its spot on the counter so I can pull up that breathing website (it’s the only good thing Rogers has ever found.) The spirit below follows me. 

Smith coughs, the already-flickering kitchen light going out for half a second, and Rogers screams, and I count down from ten in my mind. I’m not going to run my idiot best friend over. I’m not going to get him to exorcise the key to my future success. We are going to make a television show, I am going to get the royalties, and I am going to bury my sister where she belongs. 

I let out a five-second breath, tuning the two idiots out. It’s going to fine. It’s going to be fine. 

And then the spirit underneath me pushes its way through the floorboards and through my lap and I almost fall out of my chair because-

“What the fuck?” Smith demands. I don’t even have the energy to jump or slap him as he appears by my side, head reattached. He jabs a finger into the other spirit’s chest, literally. “Why are you here?”

“I don’t know.” The other Smith smiles, all teeth, bloody. He’s bloody. 

“Em hates tea,” Rogers unnecessarily says, probably frozen in fear and-slash-or shivering like a shaved penguin where he stands. 

“This is the worst-case scenario,” I say. “Please get out of me before I have a heart attack.”

He doesn’t, so I do.
