This week over at @archaeobookclub we're sharing our favourite or most influential book / reading experiences. . For me, I've always loved the idea of mini street libraries such as this one in a town near us. It reminds me of the mobile library that used to visit the village that I lived in for a few years when I was younger, and which I always thought was the coolest thing. I always wanted to set up my own little street library, but because we moved around so much and when I had my own place it was always rented, it was never possible. So you can imagine that one of my main goals when we bought our new house was to install one! . There's a great second-hand shop in the bigger town close to us, and one day while browsing I saw this very sweet little painted closet top. It was too perfect to resist! Since we installed it last summer it's done very well, and I can see it from my office so it's always fun to spot people walking past, doing a little double-take, and then perusing for a while before ambling happily away with a new book under their arm. It also gets regularly restocked, so it's working really well! . Finally completed the book-cover, or poster-commission for @glenn.parker88! It was a nice experience, thank you! I enjoyed it! I couldn't start in in time but i catched the right vibes in a last days! It seems normal, when i can wait during a couple months and can not do anything about the commission, just can't draw it, and then, to finish it for a 2,5 days! @glenn.parker88 I hope you love it, thanks for trusting and patience! 🙏 And i love the idea - it looks like me everytime, when i'm reading some exciting book! Anyway! It was cool to bring the book world into life!

Good morning all, It’s taken a few months, but I’m pleased to announce that our Street Library is finally up and running! We have up-cycled an old, industrial manual box, added some shelves and given it a makeover. It now features hand painted artwork and a quote from two of our favourite authors - Dr Seuss, and Roald Dahl (illustrator: Quentin Blake). 𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗘 𝗗𝗔𝗬 5 𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡𝑜𝑑𝑎𝑦? 𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐘. We had a casual stroll 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ around the block and it turned into meeting familiar friendly faces. Every street turn reminded me of a Hornsby fam 👫, a Church fam 💒 and a business fam 👩‍💼. In this community we have support, belongingness, friendships, sense of purpose and joy. I also ❤️ these 𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕖𝕖𝕥 𝕝𝕚𝕓𝕣𝕒𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕤 📚... one of our community's simple way of creating connections and sharing the joy of reading. We don't need to do a mammoth of task to be a good neighbour.
