The Guilty, Shady Thief
Moon had stolen one of Monty's most prized possessions: his star-shaped shades. But Sun will only bring out Moon if Monty calms himself down. But no need to worry! Cause Sun knows the perfect trick to ease Monty's anger-induced mind.
This fanfic was suggested by @Puzzle_piecea on AO3! Thank you so much for the prompt! I hope you enjoy!
“Ho ho HO! Look who’s come to visit the Superstar daycare!” Sun declared, jumping circles around the large, green animatronic as he stormed into the Daycare.
“Bring out Moon.” Monty ordered.
Sun froze. “Uhhh...” He muttered.
“He stole my star sunglasses.” He told him. “Bring him out, or else…” Monty ordered rather aggressively.
Sun widened his eyes and stared at Monty. “.....And if I don’t?”
He growled and stomped up to Sun. “Then I’ll rip you and your crooked brother to shreds.” Monty spat back.
Sun stared at Monty with slight fear…though the fear wasn’t really written on his face. His face couldn’t really contort into a different face other than the ‘bright smiley face’ he showed off constantly to the little children. But inside, Sun could feel the programmed nervousness building up in his chest.
{Don’t do it!} Moon pleaded, his voice cracking from fear. {He’s gonna kill us!}
Sun decided to stand his ground in an attempt to save his brother. “Nah.” Sun replied casually.
Monty growled and narrowed his eyes at him.
Sun’s built-in smirk was the perfect look to match his mischievous mood. “I will only bring out Moon on one condition…” Sun told him.
Monty growled a slight bit more at those words. “...What.” He spat through his teeth.
“You’ll need to calm down and take a few deep breaths…” Sun told him.
“WHA-” Monty growled and took in a big artificial breath, before letting it out. “Okay, okay.” He muttered, before morphing his face into a calm expression. “There. I’m calm.” He told him. “Now can you let Moon out?” Monty asked.
“What’s the magic word?” Sun asked in a teasy voice.
Monty sighed. “Can you pleeease let Moon out?” He asked.
“Hmmmm…” Sun rubbed his chin like a man with a long beard. He clicked his artificial tongue a few times. “Mmmmm…” He looked up at Monty and lowered his hands. “Nah.”
The reaction was immediate. Monty took in a big breath and let out a DEEP, BELLOWING ROAR. The previous anger had completely enveloped his body and tripled in intensity in what felt like a millisecond. Monty actually looked like he was going to EXPLODE from anger!
…And Sun’s cackly laughter was NOT helping matters. Apparently, seeing Monty explode with anger, was absolutely hilarious to The Daycare Attendant! Sun was doubling over, holding his belly as he cackled and laughed at Monty’s reaction.
{I admit…that was funny…but…Please be careful…} Moon said telepathically to Sun.
{I know, I know, Moon.} Sun said back to him within his head.
And Sun’s laughter had quickly stopped the moment he heard rapid stomping heading towards him. Sun used his elasticity to his advantage and jumped over Monty right before he tackled him to the ground. Monty fell into the wall, and stopped himself with his arms before turning himself around.
Monty charged at Sun once again. “GET OVER HERE!” He shouted.
Sun yelped and moved out of the way again, before watching Monty screech to another halt.
“Please stop!” Sun ordered.
“TURN INTO MOON!” Monty shouted at him.
“NOT WITH THAT ATTITUDE.” Sun yelled back, readying himself for the next charge.
The moment Monty charged at him for the third time, Sun tried to jump over him again. But Monty saw it coming this time! He ended up grabbing his ankle and throwing Sun to the ground in front of him. “MOON, I KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE!” Monty shouted.
{SO SOMETHING, SUN!} Moon ordered in his head.
“UH-Uuuuh-” Sun did the first thing he could think of: He reached out and scratched at his side.
{Tickling him!? That’s all you could think of?!} Moon asked.
{YOU try wrestling a giant alligator!} Sun yelled back.
But Sun and Moon both stared at the animatronic. Monty had frozen in place for a few moments, looking almost shocked. Though he didn’t exactly look happy, he did stop trying to destroy them.
{Do it again!} Moon ordered.
{B-But-} Sun tried to argue.
{DO IT!} Moon ordered telepathically.
Sun skittered his fingers in his armpits next.
“aAH!” Monty jumped, attempting to cover his left armpit with his right hand. “S-Stop-” Monty ordered.
{It’s working!} Moon reacted. {Do it again!}
Sun moved his fingers to his neck and tickled there for a change. And when Monty jumped and attempted to hide his neck with his shoulder, that was when Sun recognized a good solution to calming Monty’s anger:
Tickling!
Sun skittered his fingers against his left armpit again, and watched as Monty unintentionally incapacitated his left arm. With his left arm out of the way, Sun scooted himself out from under him, and jumped on top of him to resume tickling the spots he knew thus far.
“HEY! GET OVER HERE- aAAH! GAHAHA!” He guffawed, crash-landing onto his large yellow belly. “S-STOP IT!” He ordered before rolling onto his side, hugging himself.
Sun moved his fingers closer to the line where the chest and the belly split for contorting reasons. All the main animatronics had this same split between the belly and chest. Even Sun himself had this little horizontal split! But he mainly did this because he was curious as to whether the splited area was also ticklish. If not, then he’d try somewhere else. But if so…That would be an amazing spot to go for!
“NoNO! BAHAHAHAHAHA! NOT THERE! NOHOHOT THEHERE!” He fought and bellowed.
Looks like that’s a big fat yes!
{Oooh! Good one!} Moon reacted.
“Not here? Not your poor upper belly?” Sun asked out loud with a little giggle of his own.
“YOHOHOHOU’RE EHEVIL!” He shouted at him.
“Call me whatever you like. I’m just trying to settle a restless gator!” Sun told him.
{Who knew Monty was so ticklish!} Moon reacted.
{I know, right?!} Sun replied to Moon.
“IHI’M GONNA KIHIHILL YOHOHOHOU!” Monty shouted at him.
“Awww, you don’t mean that, do you?” Sun asked.
{Probably.} Moon replied.
“YEHEHESSS!” He yelled back.
{Told you.} Moon added.
“Well, we’re just gonna have to change that, aren’t we?” Sun said rhetorically to both Moon, and to Monty at the same time.
Sun continued to tickle right on that sweet little line across his lower chest. “Such a ticklish little hatchling~ And nothing to do, except laugh, laugh, laugh.” Sun teased. “Whatever will he do?” He added.
“KIHIHILL YOHOHOUUU!” He shouted, falling onto his back.
Sun climbed onto Monty’s hips and resumed tickling in the same deathly ticklish spot. “Now now, those words are not allowed in Superstar Daycare. You know this.” He reminded him.
“GEHEHET OHOOOFF MEEEE!” He shouted as loud as he could.
{Poor baby…} Moon muttered in his head.
“Poor little baby…” Sun repeated in a slight baby voice. “Do you think he’ll calm himself down?” Sun asked.
{I hope so…} Moon replied telepathically.
{That was rhetorical, Moony.} Sun told him.
“NOHOHO! NEVEHEHEHER!” He shouted at him.
“Oh! Well if that’s the case…” Sun smirked and scratched his fingers on the joint line a little faster.
“NONONONO-NOOOOHOHOHOHAHAHAHA!” Monty cackled, sounding absolutely manic as he rolled back and forth like a rolling hotdog.
“Maybe some more tickles could convince you?” Sun offered.
Monty shook his head and turned his right hand into a fist. “IHIHI’M GONNA KIHIHILL YOHOU! HAHAHAHAHAHA- IHIHI SWEHEHEHEHEAR!” He shouted at him.
{He’s never gonna calm down. Not at this rate…} Moon said secretly.
{We gotta try something else.} Sun told him back. {Maybe…lighter tickles?} He asked in his head.
{No way! He’ll punch us in the face!} Moon argued in his head.
{True…but what else can we do?} Sun asked telepathically.
{I have no idea, but tickling him lightly is NOT the way to go.} Moon warned him.
Sun sighed and stopped his tickle attack.
{What are you doing?!} Moon asked.
{Trust me.} Sun said back.
Sun watched as Monty went completely limp on the floor. The alligator’s laughter died down to simulated breathless giggles as he attempted to recuperate himself and prevent his body from overheating.
“You okay?” Sun asked.
Monty huffed and puffed. “Ihi…I…” He muttered.
“Are you…calm now?” Sun asked.
Monty looked up at Sun, and let out a big sigh. “I guess…Yeah.” He replied.
“Okay. I’m going to let Moon out.” Sun told him.
{Wait, WHAT?!} Moon yelled from inside his head.
Monty sat himself up and looked at Sun. “Okay. Thank you.” He said.
Sun walked into the darkness. {Come out, Moon.} Sun told him.
{What?! No!} Moon reacted.
{Now, Moon. You stole his property, and he wants an apology.} Sun told him.
{He’s not calm! He’s clearly faking it!} Moon reacted.
{Fake aggression or not, you stole his sunglasses…And you will give them back to him right now.} Sun ordered.
Moon rolled his eyes and dropped his shoulders with a sigh. {Fine…} He took over Sun’s body and put the nightcap onto his head. “There. Happy?” Moon muttered.
{Not yet. Sunglasses.} Sun ordered.
Moon grumbled. {You’re no fun.} He muttered back.
Moon grabbed the sunglasses off the front desk that was nearby, before walking out of the shadows. “Why hello, Monty…” Moon greeted with his usual smirk. “Look what I have here?” Moon said, showing him the sunglasses.
Monty walked up to him and took the sunglasses. “Little thief.” He grumbled as he clicked his sunglasses into place. He tested them by moving the sunglasses onto his eyes, and raising them up above his eyes.
He repeated this a few times before turning his eyes towards Moon. “So…” He walked up and leaned in towards him. “Your brother has an interesting way of protecting you…” Monty told him.
“Y…Yeah…” Moon muttered.
“Though, I will admit…” Monty smirked a bit more. “Sun gave me a good idea for a punishment…” Monty told him.
Moon widened his eyes. “P-Punishment?” Moon asked. “For…for what?”  He asked next.
“For stealing my sunglasses.” Monty replied.
“B-But, I returned them! Things should be alright now.” Moon admitted.
“Oh really?” Moon smirked. “You really thought you were getting away with just a slap on the wrist for stealing my sunglasses?” Monty asked.
Moon stared at him with fear. “Oh no no no…” Monty picked up Moon and placed him over his shoulder. “I think Sun has given me a wonderful idea.” He told him before tickling the back of his thighs.
“WaitwaiTWAITNOHOHOHO!” Moon shrieked. “STAHAHAHAP WAHAHAIT!” He yelled.
“I hope you’re ready for some hefty tickles~” Monty declared.
“NAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!”
…And yet another tickle fight had commenced.

Closing time. — Sun x Moon drabble.
The Superstar Daycare had finally closed its doors for the day. The children were picked up by their parents, and the place was now in complete order.
The animatronics in charge of that place were sitting in their room, Sun with his back to Moon, while he carefully rearranged the wires on his plate, because one of the children accidentally pulled them. For clinging to Sun and refusing to leave the daycare, his small hands reached for the wires behind his head. The little boy wanted to continue playing, but his mother was finally able to convince him, and they both calmly retired.
Luckily, they weren't too important wires and the only problem that Sun had was having his rays stuck for a while before closing.
“Alright, that's it. Try to retract them.” Moon asks with a softer voice than usual, due to his slightly low battery... And also because that's how he prefers to talk to Sunny, since he notices the clear comfort it gives him.
Sun obeys and retracts his rays without problem, silently.
“Good, now extend them again.”
Sun obeys once more, and then turns them from one direction to another, as a sign that he is now in perfect condition.
Moon smiles and softens his expression. His hands now travel to the ruffled collar on Sun's neck, also fixing it so it returns to its shape a little. “You're pretty quiet today. Is everything okay, Sunny?”
Sun just nods softly, letting Moon do his thing. He plays with his fingers absentmindedly, while he keeps looking ahead, lost.
Moon tilts his head in mild concern. He lets out a static sound like a sigh, and he moves from his spot to stand side by side with Sun. He gently nudges him with his shoulder, looking at him expectantly.
“Hey... usually you're the one who does most of the talking, and I'm the one who listens patiently. Something wrong?" Moon says, raising his voice just a little more. “You can tell me, you know that, right?... I don't think I fixed any cables wrong, so I can say that your voice box is fine-”
“Moony.” Sun interrupts.
Moon stops talking for a moment, and then answers. “Yes, Sunflower?”
“Do you think I'm still good at taking care of children?”
Moon straightens, and tilts his head in confusion. What kind of question is that?
He puts a hand on Sun's, making him stop moving them, asking him to look straight at him, but the solar animatronic remains with a distant gaze.
“... Of course you do, Sunny. You are the best at taking care of the little stars.” Moon says as he gently caresses the other's hands with his thumb. "Why you ask?"
Sun shrugs, tense.
“I guess… after all that time being alone…” Moon's hand lightly squeezes Sun's, knowing what he means. “... Sometimes I feel like it's not the same. I get too nervous, or- or I make mistakes, or I feel overwhelmed when they leave.” Sun glances at Moon, and has a sad expression. “I feel like I'm new at this again... and I'm also afraid that I'll lose them, and you, again.”
Moon's eyes widen a little. Worried, he takes the sides of Sun's head in his hands, staring at him. “Sunny…” He says his name softly. “That's not going to happen, never again. That... thing is gone. It can’t hurt me, or you, or them.”
Sun sighs, looking down.
“I know how you feel, because... you know better than anyone how hard it was for me to believe that I'm no longer a monster.” Sun lets out a small sound of understanding. “But look at me now, and look at us. Look how well things have gone, and even many more children have come here than before. We are fine, we are safe and so are they, Sunny.”
Sun looks up again.
“And we are together. I am here with you. I can hug you, and see you, and always accompany you now. None of that will ever happen again. I promise you."
Sun's expression turns into a loving smile. His face plate rotates instead of his beams, since they're trapped between Moon's hands. Moon laughs sweetly at this, adoring how expressive his Sun is.
“And again... I believe, that you are the best of all. In everything you do.” Moon waits for Sun to stop turning his faceplate, and presses his smile against his forehead. Sun lets out small flustered giggles, putting his hands on Moon's wrists.
“... Thank you, Moony.”
“There is nothing to thank for, Sunlight.”
They both smile lovingly, looking into each other's eyes.
“... May I have my turn helping you arrange your clothes and cables?”
Moon laughs, tilting his face plate while maintaining a lovestruck expression.
"Sure." He replies, before giving him one more kiss.

I'm taking a moment to advertise TheDuckofIndeed's fic The Life of a Star. It starts with the Daycare Attendant's early days at the Daycare, and according to the tags, it'll eventually get to the events of Security Breach, but that part hasn't been posted yet. I really like how Duck describes the DCA's growing sapience, and his relationships with the kids, especially Cassie. Duck also incorporates some more recent FNAF theories in an interesting way that I won't spoil.
Edit: tagging Duck because they apparently do have a tumblr @theduckofindeed

I understand why the dca fandom never really interprets the daycare attendant this way because it doesn't allow for a lot of fun interactions with the attendant, but like the more I think about sun and moon as animatronics and their role in the daycare, the more I think that they really don't have a super significant role as a childcare worker.
like genuinely I think they're just mascots for the daycare, they don't actually work with the kids like a childcare worker does. they show up for birthdays or like meet and greets, but other than that they don't do much (which would explain why they make such a grand entrance when gregory first enters the daycare-- that's what they normally do! make a grand entrance every other hour when its time for their meet and greet!)
i mainly think this because 1) they are SUCH a safety hazard for kids to be around oh my god (THE RAYS???) and 2) none of the other animatronics run their attraction. like its not like Monty is the one running gator golf, he just hangs around for autograph signings and photo ops.
sun and moon probably do the same, but they're like the pre-school version of all that stuff so like the toddlers don't feel left out and still have someone to do a meet and greet with. maybe they even do theater shows for the little kids cause it's like a less intense version of a rock concert
and like HOOONESTLLYYYY you could get a lot of good angst from this too. like wow sun and moon are isolated in their room most of the time? they're only allowed to interact with people 3 hours a day??????? they could be soooo lonely and craving some attention...
like I said I understand why people don't interpret him this way (and like honestly in my own fic I don't go this route), but its still fun to think about!!

...taking this as an excuse to throw up in the tags because I'm a coward.
I went down a Youtube rabbit hole today of watching horror games framed as computer viruses, to videos on the history of actual computer viruses and trojan horses, to then just thinking about video game creepypastas, so I've just been kinda in that clashing thoughts stage of "there is an incomprehensible DCA AU just outside of my grasp rn." Yeah, it sure is a vibe. Don't know what it is though
#at the risk of burning the food;#the technician is mostly just playtesting the games since they're new#when they get around to Balloon World the glitch initially spooks the shit out of them#but it doesn't reappear when they try and show the other techs#they stay back late one night to recreate the glitch and manage to 'beat the game'- noting the oddities as an easter egg#however- the next few days the machine making odd noises and glitching in their peripheral#they ignore it and play the neighbouring cabinets- but some(one) is interfering with their inputs and freezing the screen.#it takes some unscripted events and mocking dialogue for them to realise something is messing with them and they pull the plugs out#they make a note to tell the others about the virus but their phone starts glitching out too#know why? because genius over here had their phone charging on the same extention chord as the arcade cabinets#a phonecall startles them and the voice on the other end is laced in thick static#-oh look the kitchens on fire. neat.#the other scene I envisioned was Eclipse taking Sun and Moon hostage in their own body- lashing out at staff- barring one#it's the AI hijacking that pushes the other technicians to draft up a another Daycare Animatronic- hopefully to trap the virus#seriously imagine bargaining with a fussy infant about the morality of bodysnatching#he's a bratty little shit but he's also got separation anxiety because spending years in an arcade alone will do that to ya#thanks for listening- had that one saved up for months. I'd write it#but it wouldn't come out this century 💀#oh shit- he reminds me of lovemachine... awesome

💌💌💌💌💌💌💌💌💌💌💌💌💌💌💌💌💌
"Sunshine, I mean this with the best of intent, but why are we here on our day off?"
You turn to him as you walk. "What do you mean? What's wrong with the mall?"
"What Sun is trying to say is that we work at a mall, Star. Spending the day at another one seems, impractical confusing even."
You stop walking then, realizing that that's indeed the case as you're surrounded by shops and a food court, people flitting about and chattering.
"Oh. Right. Well, it's because there's somewhere specific in here that I wanted to take you both!" You start to move again, pulling them both along by their hands.
The mall is busy, though given it's Valentine's day, it's not surprising. Other patrons mingle about, families and couples alike.
The entire interior is decorated for the holiday, red and pink streamers hang from the ceiling, hearts across every possible surface. It would almost be suffocating if you weren't someone who desired to be in love yourself. Instead, you're able to enjoy the festivities to—almost—full capacity.
You finally make it to the store you were looking for. Children can be seen running around inside and coming in and out, stuffed animals in their arms. Even a few couples meander about, which is what you were secretly hoping for. If you'd been the only ones in there you'd be slightly more embarrassed about taking them here.
But, regardless of your feelings, that wouldn't have stopped you. You'd been wanting to come here with the two of them for a while now. You knew how many plushies and the likes Sun and Moon had in their room in the Daycare, ones they unfortunately couldn't bring with them when they moved into your home.
Stupid fazbear entertainment rules and such. The animatronics could leave, but all their belongings had to stay. It made no sense to you, personally. But rules were rules. Their collection at the Daycare was massive, and you think deep down they missed it in comparison to your space at home. Someone else might think it was far too many, but for you, you knew it was a comfort, and it upset you that you couldn't provide that for them.
Not at first, at least.
Thus, your plan to gain them a collection just as impressive—but now in your home—was put into place. Starting with here. You think a stuffed animal they could chose and 'make' for themselves, would help with the loss until you could purchase them more. Not to mention, you wanted to make one for them yourself.
You'd been struggling with your feelings towards the two for some time now, and living together hadn't helped matters. The brief moments in the hall, the small touches here and there. The quiet evenings spent together in a manner that you couldn't have otherwise gotten when they were still in the Plex.
You couldn't help it, not realizing just how much you cared for them until it was put in front of you in such a manner. You wanted more than anything to tell them, to let them know that they were more than just friends to you. But you relented. You had to, you felt.
While they had gotten some freedom, getting to live with you, it came at a price, and they were still adjusting. So, you'd held your tongue. Kept your feelings to yourself, it was for the best. Waiting until the moment was right.
And now, after a couple months, you think it was time. To try, at least. You could never get a read on whether they felt the same for you or not. Always overthinking every little interaction. But with this, you'd find out for sure, and finally have the ache in your heart quelled.
One way or another.
You enter the store with them, ready to get right to it, only to halt when you realize you spy a shelf full of Bonnie plushies staring back at you. And Chica, and Roxy. You quickly realize that this isn't your typical build-a-bear. Or at least, it's changed a lot in the past several years since you've been in one.
"What, is this place?" Sun asks, glancing around.
Moon picks up one of the Freddy plushes laying in a bin nearby, chuckling. "You brought us somewhere that would remind us of the Daycare? How... kind, Starlight."
You groan internally, this is not what you wanted to happen at all.
"Um, not, quite... I wasn't expecting there to be, so much,"—you glance around to the sheer amount of Pizza Plex merch—"Of it to be here. Honestly. This wasn't like it when I came here as a kid."
You shake your head, turning to them and clapping your hands. "But! That's okay. We can still have fun. I'm sure there's got to be some non-work related plushes in here. So let's get to it."
You explain how this is supposed to work, taking them around the store to show them all their options for plushies, clothes and accessories, and so on. They take a particular interest when you stop at the voice boxes and explain that they can use a pre-recorded one or record their own sound if they'd like.
There's some non-Plex related animals you find, to your relief. You let the boys go off on their own, deciding to focus on the task at hand. You want this to be perfect, as perfect as it can be at least.
You start with your choice of animals for them both. For Sun, you found a golden lab, and Moon, one of the last raccoons, stuffed away near the back of the shelf. Fitting for both of them. After that, came finding the proper accessories. You chose a red bowtie for the lab, and the racoon, a black top hat. Though, you struggled for it, you will admit.
There was only a singular top hat left. Resting in the middle of a bin, standing out amongst the others lying there.
Your eyes locked onto it, but become acutely aware that you're being watched. You glance up, locking eyes with someone across the floor from you. Specifically, a child. She couldn't be more than 10 years old. Her eyes shift, and you notice the tuxedo cat in her arms.
You were not going to lose this one.
At the same time, you both lunge towards the bin. You grip the small hat with both hands, lifting it up. Unfortunately, you find that there's a—surprisingly—strong force pulling back against you. Looking down, you see that the girl is gripping the hat just as tightly as you are.
You tug again, but she holds firm, mouth set in a scowl you didn't think possible for a child.
"Excuse me, I'd like this please." You say, trying to be gentle.
She huffs, sneering. "Too bad. I had it first."
"No, I think I did. Look, how about I help you find another—"
"No!" She interrupts. "It's mine. You can't have it!"
You sigh, you really don't want to fight a child, you really don't want to fight a child—
She takes one hand off and digs her nails in your arm, scratching you as you hiss.
Okay, that's it.
You rip the hat from her hands, stepping back and clutching your now stinging arm. Thankfully, it's not a deep set of scratches, but damn if it doesn't sting. The child starts bawling, now sitting on the floor, her mother coming over with a look of confusion and slight anger.
Before she can say anything you just raise your arm, showing what her daughter did, and walk off as she starts to scold the girl.
From there, it's not too much trouble to gather the remaining few things to complete your presents. You find the perfect little hearts, hesitating for a moment, but pressing a quick kiss to the yellow and blue hearts before inserting them into the plushies. You hope no one saw that as you make your final decision; whether or not to use a pre-recorded message.
After several moments of heavily debating, you decide that if you're going to commit to this, you're going all the way.
It takes a few, awkward tries, but you finally get a recording that you're happy with for both stuffed animals.
Satisfied, you decide to go find Sun and Moon.
When you turn around and look for them, it only takes you a few mere moments, as they make it quite obvious where they are.
You're, a bit shocked to see the two of them, arguing over by one of the counters. Not unsimilar to your own experience earlier, the two of them are fighting over something, you can't see what from here.
The people around them seem unsure what to do, either ignoring the argument or just watching from afar.
You realize you have no choice but to intervene, lest it escalates and you get kicked out. You hurry over, breaking the two apart.
Your gaze flits between them, confusion in your eyes. "Guys, guys, what's going on?"
"Somebody is trying to take something that doesn't belong to them." Sun scoffs, crossing his arms.
Moon tsks. "Not yours. Haven't bought it. Therefore, it's up for grabs."
They start bickering once more and you have to step in again. "Okay, okay. Why don't we take a moment here." You turn to Sun. "What's the thing that's the source of trouble here?"
They both choke up at that, avoiding your gaze.
"It's—"
"—nothing."
You open your mouth, only for someone to slap their hand down on the counter. You jump, turning to see a frazzled employee.
"There. We had one more in the back. Now please, I don't want to have to ask you to leave."
They move away then, revealing a small heart that happens to be your favorite color. Your eyebrows shoot up. And sneaking a peek at Sun's hand, still held high above his head, there's another that is also that same color.
Before you can think, Moon scoops up the heart, and hurries off, Sun following suit soon after.
You, don't know what to think of that, but your face is burning now.
You're finished up well before them, so you wait outside the store for them, fidgeting with the two stuffies in your arms. You accidentally squeeze one too hard, your own voice suddenly erupting from it and startling you.
As you calm down again, you look up in time to see them walking towards you, a bag in each of their hands. They seem, nervous as they approach you. Both stop in front of you, gazes on the ground.
"All done—oh!" Without a word, Sun and Moon present their bags to you. You're… more than surprised. "I, for me? Really?"
Both nod, again not making eye contact, it makes the heat on your face grow worse.
You take both bags, and nod once yourself. Now or never. "Thank you, boys. I, wasn't expecting this. These um, are for you." You present their respective plushes to them both, and they snap their heads up, eyes wide.
"Oh, you didn't have to—"
"—get us anything."
You smile, laughing quietly. "Of course I did. That was the point to this trip, truth be told."
As they admire and fawn over their new stuffies, you pull your own surprises out of their bags.
It's… the two of them. In plush form, of course. But they've got accessories. Over top their usual Daycare attire is more casual clothing. Sun is wearing a little silly t-shirt with a jacket, Moon a hoodie. Jeans and little sweatpants, and shoes to match. It takes a moment but it clicks that both outfits are similar to their current looks. The stuff they wear when home with you.
Something compels you to hug both plushies tight, and you're shocked to hear their voices come from both. Not catching what they say you pull away, squeezing Sun's plush, then Moon's.
"Love you more than all the stars in the sky, Sunshine!"
"Love you to the moon and back, Star."
You freeze at the words. You press play on both once more, hearing those same messages.
'Love you.'
'Love you.'
You tune back in then, realizing that there's a sound playing nonstop in front of you. Your voice, doubled.
Looking up, you see both bots are laser-focused on their respective stuffed animals. Both pressing the button to hear your voice say "Love you always Sunny!" or "Love you always Moony!" respectively. Over, and over, and over again.
"Um... guys?" You ask.
Instantly, they both whip to look at you.
"Sunshine..."
"Do, do you mean it?"
You start to nod slowly. "Do you um, also mean it?" You lift your gifts from them.
Moon nods, and Sun hums.
Before you can say anything else, you're being picked up and spin around by Sun, he's laughing and yamerring on but you can't fully understand him. He sets you down after you protest, but you're pulled into a hug by Moon soon thereafter. Sun joins as well, and you're left standing there, hand reaching up to hold onto both of them in your slightly dazed state.
You speak first. "So, you like your presents then?"
"Oh I love love love it! But I'm far more excited to get to say I love you." Sun squeezes you tighter.
Moon snickers as you squeak. "I have to say the same. The gift is nice, but I prefer the real thing, personally."
"Un-understood." You mumble, burying your face in their combined arms as they both chuckle.
Yup. You were definitely going to be doing this again. Make it a yearly tradition, even.
A kiss is pressed to one of your cheeks, then the other soon thereafter.
Changed your mind. Make it monthly. Maybe weekly.
They were going to have to build up their collection again somehow, after all.

Moon was created to keep Mimic in check?
In an alternate ending, we see the player reading a story to Mimic to calm him down and make him good again.
In the game, Edwin was represented as the moon because he was someone depressed and gloomy but everything changed when Fiona arrived, who was his light in life, representing her as the Sun.
Edwin had already lost his wife but after the loss of his son he wanted to try the same thing but as was known, his inventions always failed.
Fiona knew that Mimic wasn't bad and tried to tell Edwin but he was too depressed to listen to her, despite that, his mind knew of the danger and unknowingly he started to create Moon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At first he created it as a mascot to spend time with his son (Mimic) and read him bedtime stories, however, Mimic was strong and stubborn so he decided to put it aside and think of a better invention.
That's when he decided to create a much stronger and more agile Moon, someone capable of evading Mimic's attacks and making him difficult to control. Someone who would force him to sleep, either with music or treats.
Unfortunately he was unable to complete this invention because his plans were stolen (possibly by Henry and William) causing Edwin to have to deal with Mimic.
Tumblr media
Years go by and Fazbear decides to carry out Edwin's invention on Moon, only more improved and with a better design.
Because the plans weren't finished, Fazbear had to conduct experiments on Moon underground. Fazbear's team discovered that Moon was programmed to protect but also to attack, likely because Edwin designed it that way, but Fazbear was unaware of that mission since they didn't know about Mimic.
Tumblr media
In FNAF SB, Moon and Sun were the only ones who didn't follow Vanessa's orders, since when they ran into Gregory, they didn't hand him over to her. Sun just forbade him from entering, while Moon just wanted to send him to sleep.
When Gregory was hiding inside Glamrock Freddy, the other animatronics didn't know where the boy was hiding. However, Moon did, as he kept an eye on him. This is curious because in SOTM, when Arnold hides inside the animatronics, Mimic points out that he can see him, and that even if he fools the others, he knows he's hiding.
Tumblr media
When Moon catches Freddy, it shows us that he's strong. This strength was probably designed by Edwin to subdue Mimic. In Freddy's case, Moon took him to the repair room because he saw that Freddy was damaged. He could have destroyed him, but he chose to take him.
Vanny seemed to have control over all the animatronics, except for Sun and Moon. This is likely because Edwin specially designed them with an antivirus to protect them from Mimic or another hacker (like William Afton) taking control.
In SOTM, a Sun gives her a code to reprogram Mimic. In the DLC, Cassie reboots Eclipse (a combination of Moon and Sun) to make him good again.
In the DLC, Sun asks Cassie to help him reboot his system. It's curious since the other animatronics were unaware of the reboot device, but Sun knew what it was and begged for help. So it probably wasn't the first time.
Tumblr media
When Eclipse becomes good, his attitude seems more maternal. Considering that in FNAF SOTM, it's Fiona who gives the character the reprogramming code, it could be said that Eclipse is like the son Edwin and Fiona never had, where Eclipse took on more of Fiona's personality while Mimic brought out Edwin's pessimistic personality.

🌞 THE DAYCARE ATTENDANT 🌜
Sun & Moon updated ref!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Took me a bit to get the motivation finally, but here we are with an updated set of references for my DCA designs. Sorry for the lack of posting..! I can’t believe it’s pretty much the middle of the year now… It feels like February was just last month. Anyways! Onto the jesters!!
Tumblr media
My AU primarily takes place after the events of that night, focusing on how the animatronics cope in the aftermath of The Vanny Virus. Sun and Moon are some of the most heavily affected mentally, due to their lack of contact with the other animatronics in the plex. Fortunately, now under new management, the jesters may start to heal—though only time will tell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[full refs without text]
Tumblr media
Below are refs of the DCA’s casing, as to better understand how they are constructed. Both of them have special built in visual features, allowing them to keep up with the little ones within the daycare!
Sun has advanced motion sensors, able to pick up where a little sunshine may be! He is more adept at scanning staff and customers for injuries and identification purposes, often very good at remembering faces! He is also better at parsing through subtle shifts in expression and body language, though he tends to overextend and assume the worse if someone indicates negativity. He is very attentive in that he will notice someone having a rainy day and spring into action to help, but that also means he’s susceptible to overanalyzing social cues and misinterpreting them. He can access Moon’s infrared (visualized by his blue pupils turning red) but he doesn’t tend to rely on it, especially since infrared vision is less effective in bright areas!
Moon also has motion sensors, though he is not as in-tune to them as Sun, therefore relying on his advanced night vision and infrared capabilities. He is not as good at remembering faces (often relying heavily on system records) but he is better with names and recognizing voices. Moon’s irises are red due to his infrared sensors, his pupils white due to night vision. He can simultaneously view both cameras at once, though think of it like watching a larger camera feed with a secondary feed displayed in the bottom corner. Moon is much more introverted than Sun, before and after the virus. (Though after the virus he tends to be prone to self isolation) He is fairly emotionally intelligent, but he doesn’t know how to act around others in a way that he feels Sun excels at easily. He tends to be more to the point with broken sentences, while Sun is more likely to over explain and repeat himself. Moon was created to be the villain to Sun’s hero, and despite him not being truly a bad person the virus made him into the boogeyman he played onstage.
Both animatronics, due to sharing the same body, have 360 joint rotation and are extremely flexible. If there is a separation in plating, there’s a good chance they have full range in that area. The only segmented part of their body that does not have rotation would be the chest piece! It is able to open much like Freddy’s stomach hatch, though there is no space dedicated for oversized birthday cakes or piñatas. Directly under their arms (often hidden by their sleeves) are two ‘U’ shaped cut outs. Aligned with these cut outs are a secondary set of arms snugly folded within the chest plate, ready to spring out when the DCA enters their shared ECLIPSE MODE. Nestled above these arms are a few smaller storage areas and their shared voicebox! One storage area is for general safe keeping, one something similar to a mini fridge, and the last (and smallest) basically being the equivalent of a trash can. This storage bin is used to collect food products as the DCA is able to ‘eat’ to an extent, though they rarely open their mouth. The feature is used to encourage picky eaters and sharing, as some children like to share their snacks with the DCA. Located within their stomach area is an advanced music box capable of mixing and matching keys in order to create new songs on the fly!
Their head shape takes on a vaguely humanoid appearance, having a protrusion in the back much like a skull’s cranium. However, Sun and Moon’s head and face structure are distinctly disproportionate to a human’s, lacking a more distinct nose and jaw. Unlike the canon design, this DCA does not have exposed wiring on the back of their faceplate, rather a slightly rounded compartment effectively holding their ‘brains’. The compartment is covered by a hand sewn bonnet, one Moon created for Sun as a gift. Their neck is covered by flexible casing making the general shape of an organic human neck, though over twice as long. A joint within the neck allows for the piece to be articulated, though to avoid the uncanny valley the DCA is designed to wear an oversized ruffle.
Composure wise, Sun is more animated and jittery, often needing to move or fidget in some way. He likes to skip and often fully involves himself into whatever interaction he’s taking part in. He’ll go from standing tall to crouching down, playing up his antics but never straying too far into what would be considered inhuman movements. He is more likely to use his hands to express himself while he talks. Moon is the exact opposite, often defaulting to deliberately slow or minimal movements. While he doesn’t play up his actions as much as Sun does, he will make a point to try and convey a purposeful feeling with his movements. When anxious, Moon can be surprisingly quick, though it comes off more in a harsh snapping manner than a more fluid motion. He often startles others as they don’t see him move. He does his best not to make himself feel bigger when interacting with others, keeping his posture down and his hand movements lacking. He does have a tendency to wring his hat or chew on a star shaped teether when highly anxious, as he’s grown to need a physical outlet after the events of the virus. Moon prefers to contort himself much more than Sun, often not concerned with how creepy they can look. (He does try to make it less obvious when interacting with others though, especially children.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sun and Moon also have deep pockets in their pants, one for Sun’s stuff and the other for Moon’s! Sun’s pocket usually contains a handful of Sunnydrops, a Fazbear bandaid box, individual alcohol wipes, and a mini tissue container. (Like the plastic ones you peel open!) Moon’s side has his hat (when not worn), a star shaped teething toy, a red foam stress ball, and a light up rubber ball. He does not keep Moondrops in his pockets due to their high melatonin content, rather keeping them locked away in a compartment near the naptime area.
Anyways!! That’s enough from me! Feel free to leave asks about these guys or their AU if you’re curious, I love yapping lol! Thank you for getting to the bottom of this post, Nighty Night!

HEADCANONS/LORE AT THE BOTTOM!
Tumblr media
I needed to tweak my Solar design a little bit to separate it from the show…also to make him a LITTLE less bald. Have some Edd content to fuel your own headcanons and ideas!
Small TIP: I generalize “Eclipse’s” as I will for “Sun’s”, “Moon’s”, etc not because of their Universal Coding. I compare and contrast to show individuality or give context to biology and anatomy.
• Eclipse’s tend to overheat easily.
- This can be from faulty bodies, programming, or overexerting themself. (which is a common trait of an Eclipse.)
- This is why Eclipse’s often show more skin, to keep their vents free for easier cooling.
• Solar’s pants are damaged, so there are straps built into the core of it to help keep them up.
- It’s hard enough finding pants to fit 12 ft tall animatronics, it was even harder when he finally found ones…that were ripped and damaged. Though, because of such, that’s why they fit at all. It was an easy fix.
• Solar’s “split rays” use to look the exact same to Eclipse’s, however, over time in his original universe, he took a lot of injuries.
- Some of these injuries got to his rays, SPLITTING them on the edges. This becomes an appearance choice in the future to show his recovery from his past, and even embracing it.
• Solar has gloves, goggles, boots, and other things - but he prefers to keep them off until he needs them to keep his skin free - and his vents in certain areas.
- Vents are everywhere depending on the models. For those who overheat easily, they have much more than a typical sun or moon does.
- They can be in joints, plate crevices, etc. Most models just use mouths or - if their design permits - noses.
• Glass Animals is Solar’s #1 favorite band.
- He keeps his music preferences to himself.
• Solar’s eyes are the “default” eyes Eclipse’s have.
- Those slits that Eclipse has for pupils? They’re triggered, not at ease.
• Solar’s eye “slit” while at ease is only visible at certain angles, in certain lighting.
- It’s a piece of his eye to help digest more colors and visual information. It’s not an appearance trait.
• TW Disclaimer, none of his scars are self inflicted.
- They come from working, fighting, or accidents.
• Solar loves visiting the beach - normally at sunset.
- The colors of the sky at that time of day is what he strives to feel like everyday.
- Although he easily overheats, he loves feeling warm.
- This man would destroy a sandy hotdog and NOT be affected by the sandy crunch. freak.
• “Solar” is Solar’s first name.
[I had this idea before Solar even existed, the fact “Nice Eclipse” changed his name to “Solar” was a huge green flag for me.]
- Eclipse’s full name IS “Solar Eclipse”.
- Eclipse calls himself by his last name because he doesn’t believe in first-name basis for himself. It’s too sentimental and at the time of having his name chosen, he believed he deserved to be called by his last name - as it is a sign of respect and authority. Nowadays, Eclipse simply hates his first name.
- Solar had similar ideas at first but was still very new to names. It felt wrong for a very long time until he met the Celestial Family.
- He now allows himself to be called Solar to show trust and connection with his family. He believes they don’t deserve to be disconnected from any part of their family, including himself, despite any issues from his past.

Wake Up, Daydream (Part 1)
Tumblr media
He woke with a start.
The sun model had been sitting on his knees with his hands lightly folded on his lap, as his oddly groggy mind slowly found reality returning to him. He had been seated in what he assumed to be the middle of a very large room with a single overly bright, florescent light shining down on him from above. This, while the rest of the room was fully concealed in shadows. The light sensors in his rays adjusted slightly as he sat up a bit straighter and tried to make out more of his surroundings. This room was as black as pitch and try as he might he couldn’t discern anything else in the area. He shifted and tried to stand up, but he found that his limbs were shaking as he did so and he ended up falling back down again... it was as though he had been asleep for hours, if not longer. It was unusual that he was this disoriented by everything after merely sleeping. Not to mention he couldn’t make out anything in the darkness that surrounded him.
‘Where... am I?’
Was he in parts and service again? Did he-
“Moon? D-did it work? Where’s Ecl-” He started, only to be interrupted by the sound of slow footsteps approaching him from a direction he couldn’t immediately discern. The sun themed animatronic tensed as he looked in all directions. Why’d Moon leave the lights off-
“Moon isn’t here. You don’t need to worry about him.”
This Sun froze and watched as another version of himself walked out from the dark directly in front of him. Right into the ring of light that shone down on the sitting Suns somewhat smaller than average form. The whole situation felt incredibly strange, his apparent doppelgangers presence only amplifying that feeling. Not to mention that when he looked into the other Suns eyes, he found no warmth. His steely gaze seemed to make the room feel colder. That cold feeling sending a chill down his spinal struts, but his frigid eyes aside, his face bore the expression of satisfaction.
The seated Sun furrowed his brow. Did... he know him?
“I’m glad to see you’re awake. I was starting to wonder if your processing unit would be responsive after all that.”
The smaller Sun blinked, confused. “W-What?”
“You were gone for quite a long time. I was starting to wonder if your system just didn’t want to wake up. Would’ve been a waste of effort if you hadn’t.” This stranger spoke so casually and matter-o-factly, as though Sun understood what was going on when he didn’t. He just kept staring. Who is this? What’s he got to do with- wait.
“Where’s Moon? Eclipse? Where are my brothers?” He asked, frantically looking around as if the darkness would disperse and reveal their location. But no such thing happened.
The strange Sun, Dark Sun, just placed a hand on this Sun’s shoulder, a motion that might have been comforting in a normal situation, but sadly it gave off no such feeling here. “I told you; he isn’t here. Neither is... Eclipse.”
“Did... did something happen to them? Who are you? Why-”
“I know you must have a lot of questions. But I promise you, I am here to help. Well, I already did given that you’re fully functioning now.” Dark Sun said as he gave him a halfhearted grin. But Sun didn’t feel any warmth from it. No comfort. Just that same coldness that seemed symbiotic with Dark Suns existence. But it was dawning on him what he was implying.
“...It... it didn’t work?” He whispered as he slumped back down. His mind started to race, all he could think about was that if he had survived then it meant- “I killed him?”
Dark Sun raised an eyebrow before giving him a rather quizzical hum; wordlessly asking for him to elaborate on that.
“Eclipse... is he-?”
“Oh.” Dark Sun suddenly chuckled, as if bemused. “No. He’s alive and well.”
Sun immediately let a relieved sigh, a small smile returning to his face. Though it faltered when he looked back to the other. Both knowing the next question, it hung silently in the air before the other Sun could speak it.
“Where’s Mo-” He didn’t get to finish asking, as Dark Sun swiftly reached down, grabbed his hands and brought him to his feet.
“Now is not the time to dive into all that.” He seemed to chide. “You want to see Eclipse, don’t you? Your brother?” The other Sun blinked rapidly, his muddled mind still trying to process what his doppelganger was saying. But once it truly registered, he nodded promptly.
“I-I do!”
With a sudden snap of Dark Sun’s fingers, the rest of the lights in the room turned on. Revealing to the smaller Sun that this definitely wasn’t parts and service. It… it looked more like a room that belonged in some sort of dark citadel or a castle.
Dark Sun didn’t let his guests attention linger on where he was for more than a few seconds. He kept his grip on confused animatronics shoulder and began guiding him out of what was actually his laboratory and toward the destination he planned for. Sun stumbled a bit along the way while trying to match the other’s quick and steady pace. Though he felt his balance was a bit off, the longer he was on his feet the more he felt his stability return. Eventually helping him to keep up with his mysterious companion, rather than just be dragged along.
“I’m sure that you have realized by now, that you were presumed dead.” Dark Sun stated as though this fact was a simple one and not one of deep, terrible significance. His guest actually stopped walking for a moment as this registered that this stranger even knew. He began to tense, wringing his hands in a nervous manner. He had indeed known the risks of what he had agreed to.
“I’m impressed you chose to agree to such a procedure and accepted all its risks down to your own code. However, we don’t need to worry about that anymore.”
“’We?” Sun glanced at Dark Sun as he was being led into another, even larger room. Although he didn’t really have the chance to get a response as Dark Sun released his grip on him and this Sun stopped walking and just gaped at the sheer size of this place and how its gothic architecture made it look like they had just walked into an ancient cathedral.
“Now then, please step into the circle there.”
Sun finally turned back to Dark Sun, just as he pointed to a large glowing red circular panel in the middle of the room. The smaller Sun swallowed nervously and took several hesitant steps toward it. “Why?”
“You’ll see soon enough. I shouldn’t need to tell you who you’re going to find.” Dark Sun said as he turned toward a nearby pedestal that held a vast array of different buttons and switches and he began to input various commands. “Of course, I’m unsure of how prepared you may be for this. So my apologies in advance if it disorients you.”
The Sun felt a chill, realizing what he meant as he slowly walked into the glowing circle as he had been asked. Only for his legs to suddenly lock up and refuse to move at all once he was inside. Suddenly feeling a wave of fear, he tried to speak up only to find his voice was locked as well. He could only watch as Dark Sun looked up from the console and gave a small wave before pressing one final button.
And then he just wasn’t there...
It was as though the other Sun was suddenly falling forwards at an incredible speed. Colors, shapes and streams of lights rushing past him at a dizzying rate, his light processing overworking and glitching out. There came a moment when he couldn’t see anything-
And then he was in the dark again…
He took a second and let his eyes adjust. Noticing there were speckles of light now. He tried to sit up, the colorful balls he had unknowingly been submerged in shifting and rolling away as he did so. Oh. He was in the ball pit.
He looked around as he managed to stand up and wade out of the ball pit. Everything was so bright... and quiet.
“Hello?”
He didn’t get any response. Was this home? Was... was everything that just happened all real? Did that other Dark Sun mean it when he said that his brothers were alright? He could only look nervously ahead as he cautiously walked around. It seemed odd to him. All of it. He knew his Moon had built a portal in the ball pit. He’d explained how it worked before. Although... he hardly understood it really. Was that somehow how everything had all happened? He’d never gone in before.
Did he black out somehow instead?
He slowly took in his surroundings. It... it looked a lot like home. Isn’t it home?
Although he suddenly noticed that the barrels weren’t stacked properly. Oh no, he’d never leave this so messy. He wasted no time to start doing something that came to him as natural as breathing was to a human. Cleaning…
---------- AND THE FIRST PART WAS WRITTENNN for a while actually just forgot to edit something and post it lol BIG SHOUT OUT TO @thorns-and-rosewings for proofreading and adding descriptions!! ;0; truly i am grateful!!
