I’ve been playing Sun Haven for about a week now and well… I’m sort of obsessed. Sun Haven is a farming sim mixed with an old school fantasy rpg. There’s a lot of humor and the characters are all adorable. My farmer is in love with Donovan… the carefree adventurer Amari. Cause duh… punk wolf boy? @sunhavenrpg

I just played Sun Haven...

It was released March 10th 2023...

Beautiful game! Just like Stardew Valley but magical, ugh and don't get me started with the marriage candidates ncps!!! Top notch beautiful as well! I want to do them x reader now but I can't write any as of now dude to not alot is not known about them or how it plays out. But when I learn more about them I'll definitely write them! As of the other stories I'm proof reading and double checking in between me doing online college and working a full time job, so hang tight! Now enjoy the pictures from the game that i took and some i found on the wiki page for them! It's available of steam! And is in the process for coming out on Nintendo switch!

i've been playing farming game / top-down action rpg / local townsfolk dating simulator Sun Haven with my partner and we've decided on a strategy of whenever one of us accidentally gets a date with an npc we don't care for, the other stands upsettingly close during the cutscene and does the most mood-ruining thing they can think of

and let me tell you, there is nothing funnier than having a heartfelt conversation with the local blacksmith's apprentice about her insecurities and then a catgirl sprints up and immediately begins eating apples whole right next to you

just scrummying down, eating like 40 pounds of fruit in two minutes, cores and everything

"thanks, I had a great time! and your catgirl roommate unhinging her jaw and breaking the world record for apple consumption right next to us didn't ruin the mood at all!"

I've got a couple of ideas, mainly because I'm still not sure what I'll have at my disposal once I have a program I can make games on, but I was thinking some kind of turn-based RPG, you know, something simple for my first try, or something more laid back like Stardew Valley or Sun Haven.

I need to up my game, clearly! 😂 Speaking of creativity and struggles, mental or physical health, it really makes me think of the stereotype "suffering for one's art". I can relate since I first got into IFs when my health was declining and they kept me afloat. Did the idea of this IF already exist in your mind or did you piece it together when you decided you wanted to write your own IF? Lol, I have to do a million things all the time, before I moved I was also painting minis for DnD and Warhammer, which is super fun.

And some of the ideas already existed, mostly about the gods, and a world separated in some way. Those are some ideas I've held on to since highschool when I was making my own homebrew DnD world, the rest I came up with as I was writing.

I'm sorry to hear you also experience health issues, but I definitely relate. 💜

My go to race and class for tabletop 5th edition dnd has been gnome (love them to death) and then my fav character is a multi class Bard, Warlock, Artificer!

In baldurs gate 3 my fav character is a Seldarine Drow, Circle of spores.

Another ttrpg I haven't been able to play yet but really want to is Wanderhome.

And games I love: the elder scrolls, dragon age, mass effect, starfield, baldurs gate 3, sun haven, stardew valley, fallout 3, fallout nv, fallout 4, small land survive the wild, etc etc.

A Couple of Interesting Things!!!

Okay, I know I like conglomerating different shit into one post, but PLEASE READ!

If you like Stardew Valley or any other similar farming/slice of life kind of sim, AND you like fantasy RPG, please please go check out Sun Haven! I spent the last two hours playing it on stream and I am absolutely in LOVE with it! It's currently on sale on Steam, and the developer plans to continue updating it which is awesome because it's a great game!!! You can adjust the day cycle length (15-45 minute length iirc, I like the 30 minute one!), how much you can do in a day is dependent on the time left in the day NOT energy, there's different races that come with boosts, and plenty of romance options!!! (And I love most of the ones I've met thus far!)

100% highly recommend Sun Haven!!!

Outside of that, I also wanted to talk about some IF stuff! Now, I know we all sometimes feel like we have to only go for our ROs in optional scenes, but I promise, you don't have to!!! You can STILL start a romance with people in Mind Games and have scenes with others to build your friendship! You do need to have a few with the RO, to express interest, but you don't have to drive home only their scenes. I actually don't think I'll have romance lock-ins until B2, EXCEPT with Blake, and potentially Fawn, given I know I will at least have the option to express your interest in Blake at the end of B1... and if you kept in touch in B2, afterwards. Honestly, maybe that'll be a form of a lock-in in B2; if you kept in touch with the RO. (With other lock-in points available later, for MCs who aren't as willing to trust so readily, of course!)

I also DO plan to make walk-throughs. I know I have a headache getting specific routes or scenes when I play IFs, and truthfully, I enjoy making them! And it's kind of an accessibility thing, y'know? I'm not saying anything bad about other authors, either!!! I just want to provide something like that, personally, as I have ALWAYS planned to add walkthroughs.
