1.01 "In Throes of Increasing Wonder..."

after he finds somewhere safe for her, after he cleans her up and makes her drink some water (he doesnt dare try to leave her to go hunt) , joel spends the night holding her to his chest, her head in the crook of his elbow. Sometimes she wails and smashes her face into his chest, sometimes tears run silently down her face, sometimes she only stares blankly ahead at nothing. The whole time he rocks her like shes a very small child, like he used to rock sarah when she was fussy. He hums nonsense, his favorite old songs, the things he used to sing to sarah, even the nursery songs his own mother sang to him a lifetime ago. The whole time he never stops gently rocking her, stroking her hair, occasionally bending down to kiss the top of her head, telling her its okay, baby, constantly reminding her she is in safe arms.

📚 STUFF I READ 📚

pretty much nothing! It was a rough reading week! The first part of the week I was fairly consumed with the D20 I was watching & not reading much. Then I spent FIVE DAYS reading a little over half of a 258K fic before finally accepting that though it was pretty well written and not bad, I just wasn't into it and the thought of fighting thru another 120K was appalling, so I bailed.

and I did read about 20K of shorter stuff but nothing I want to shout out so.

okay if i’ve learned one thing so far it’s DO NOT save all your self care for one day. that’ll just make it feel like another task to complete and lead to more burnout. spread it throughout the week instead! give yourself breaks and little treats! take a bath when you’ve had a long day, light your fav candle when you’re studying, do a face mask on thursday night, paint your nails on monday night so you’ve got a fun color for the whole week, soak your feet after work, etc etc. take care of yourself every day and listen to your body! it will thank you for it <3

you know these past several days i’ve been thinking like. well surely there must be a point if i watch this movie enough times that i can unlock the secret brain chemical that makes me think it’s good. a lot of people think this is good i should be able to understand that if i just like open my mind or something. frankly i think i’m beginning to see the outline of the key to all of this and it lies in having to simply put the movie on and not pause it to bitch about some detail every ten minutes. and then also you have to approach it with love in your heart and of course it helps if you’re all consumingly obsessed with some guys who could even slightly be compared to this movie. and then well it’s still bad. but maybe tomorrow it will finally be good. one way to find out!

Edinburgh is a great place to set a crime/murder mystery, however I can only suspend my disbelief so far and frankly I cannot accept that a mysterious car parked on a double yellow in the middle of the old town for more than five minutes would go unnoticed by the traffic wardens, no matter how late it was
