-HORRIBLE at sleepovers. HORRIBLY ANNOYING.

-he will bring his console and try to get everyone to agree to a mariokart tournament

-he brings snacks, and hes got everything. cookies? yep. chips? you bet! soda? yes but only pepsi cherry.

-the only thing he forgot was a blanket and pajamas and literally everything else except games and food

-bro went and forgot a damn blanket

-he will talk all night if you let him. mainly about weird shit he learned recently that creeps you out

-he will be fine to keep partying at 5 am. my brother in christ is FIGHTING to keep everyone awake

-he will insist that he sleeps in just his boxers, he says its too hot

-”you ex-expect me t-to boil alive?”

-sleeps at 10am and wont wake up until you either shake him awake or 5pm rolls around

-he likes watching true crime movies/documentaries and will pick out the most gore filled one cause they make him hungry

-puts on nu metal and ignores the protests of the others to turn it off

-brings headphones in case he gets overwhelmed, he doesn't usually get like that but hed rather be safe than sorry

-doesnt need drugs to act crazy, he just needs sugar and guess what! He brought candy! Lots of it too

-he brings any console or handheld game consoles he can reasonably set up, with multiple controllers for each. His bag is HUGE

-he sleeps in a tshirt and booty shorts, but he owns it

-”cmon, you cant see this total dumpy ive got? I got the shorts for a reason,”

-keeps the party going until the late morning, he will not sleep until 2pm

-wants the greasiest food possible, im talking jack in the box all day breakfasts level of greasy

-plays nightcore music, which he gets bullied for but its lowkey fire

-he forgot a blanket and will be fine with just sleeping on the floor, he doesn't plan on sleeping much anyways

-he wants to watch shitty comedies, if given the opportunity to put on monty python and the holy grail he will

-when he DOES sleep, he snores SO FUCKING LOUD that it keeps everyone awake

-will ask to play spin the bottle bc he is an actual fiend for awkwardness he can bully people about (and kissing dudes)

-ah yes, our bestest girl

-she brings stuffed animals, a blanket and a princess sleeping bag

-she is still young, so she isnt really allowed to hang around the other pastas sleepovers

-plus she hates sleeping around men so it can only be a sleepover with all girls and no drugs/crackhead behavior

-she plays minecraft all night

-she will ask to put on a disney princess movie and will fall asleep to that

-”can mr teddy come watch frozen with us?”

-her bedtime is at 10pm, but she will fight to stay awake until 11pm

Masky

-oh boy.

-he doesn't like sleepovers, he doesn't want to go to sleepovers, and will only be there as a trip sitter or a chaperone of sorts

-he will smoke a little weed but is mostly content with a pack of cigarettes and a beer

-just turns on a random sport of a random team to nod off to, hes not the type to stay up unless theres a job he needs to complete

-”can yall be quiet, im tryin to watch the… the uhhh…. the mets and the… the other team,”

-sleeps shirtless with gym shorts, maybe sometimes he will wear a tank top but only if hes asked to

-wants to eat a burger, just any burger with bacon. He doesn't even need a fry, just a coke and a burger with bacon.

-falls asleep on the couch, he doesn't care what anyone else is doing, as long as no ones dying and they leave him alone

-he makes everyone feel like they are being parented, and even he hates it. He is above watching these dumbasses

-he might play a game, but thats a low chance

Hoodie

-brings so much weed. So much.

-he brings a duplicate hoodie of the one he shows up in, the famous yellow one

-he mainly smokes and plays on his phone, he might even put on a baby sensory video once everyone is high

-he puts on youtube deep dives on whatever he finds interesting, usually some internet drama

-”...and he made him cut up the medallion and i shit you not they nearly got him to put it up his ass,”

-brings everything you could ever want when you have the munchies, chips, dip, soda, candy, and some hot pockets

-brings headphones to listen to rain sounds while he sleeps

-he mutters absolute nonsense while asleep

-he sleeps around 3am and is a fairly light sleeper.. thats why he brought headphones

-wants to sleep in the bed, he doesn't care if someone is already in it, they can share!

-sleeps in a tank top and pajama pants, the pants usually get kicked off in the middle of the night though

-he moves a lot in his sleep, he sometimes sleepwalks but not often

Kate

-shes rarely invited, but shes glad to go

-she is very nocturnal, she will be up all night eating snacks she's squirreled away in her bag

-she wants sushi, but understands if its out of budget. She has enough pickles to make it through the night.

-she sleeps in a hoodie and sweatpants, hood up and curled in a ball

-she brings an actual sleeping bag, she doesn't want to sleep on JUST the floor.

-she brings so many snacks, but forgets any toiletries and a pillow

-”you want a pickle? I have so many, sweet, dill, spicy.. or do you want something else? I have a lot of stuff,”

-she wants to play twister so bad, but shes scared to ask

-shes shy, but as the night goes on she opens up

-she is fun to be around once the drinks start flowing, shes very bubbly and silly while drunk

-she doesn't know how to play video games, but shes happy to watch

-wants to watch notoriously shitty movies to make fun of

-she sleeps with headphones on playing emo music

-she finally sleeps around 5am, and shes OUT until at least noon

Nina

-oh jesus where to start..

-she will be black out drunk by the end of the night. She even brought the drinks to make sure

-she might be underage but there are bigger issues with her being drunk

-shes a crier, she gets messy drunk and gets into fights

-she sleeps as soon as she finishes all her frozen margaritas, but theres enough of them that youd think shes got alcohol poisoning

-shes not the type to go to sleepovers, but if she WAS she would be a babysitter to the others

-she will not go to a sleepover with any men. She doesn't trust them at all

-she doesn't drink or smoke so shes stuck watching people to make sure no one kills each other

-she will turn on the office and just watch it like nothing else is happening

-asks to get kfc, shes a sucker for some fried chicken

-she sleeps in a oversized shirt and shorts, she gets hot easy

-”are you all going to eat the drumsticks or can i have them.. nina why are you crying now?”

-she sleeps only after her 8 step skin care and having a glass of water, she cannot sleep thirsty

-shes fine with sleeping on the couch or armchair, anything but the floor

-wears noise canceling headphones to bed, she sleeps so lightly that its nearly impossible to sleep without them

Clockwork

-theres no fucking way she's getting out of this without a wicked headache in the morning

-she gets nervous sleeping around other people so she smokes weed to feel better

-she gets all giggly when high, she genuinely has a great time

-she craves cheese ramen so bad that she will go out of her way to make some in the kitchen at fucking 4am

-she is also practically nocturnal, she will wake up at 5pm and sleep at 6am

-is honored to be included in a sleepover, she never usually gets included

-she brings snacks, various medications, toothpaste and tooth brushes, lotion, shampoo and conditioner, a comb, floss, two pillows, drinks….

-she sleeps in a nightgown, and she has sock slippers that she wears while sleeping

-she doesn't drink or smoke, and shes fairly overwhelmed by everything thats happening

-”oh, um, i was wondering when its bed time?”

-she finds a quiet corner, brings her stuff and reads until she falls asleep around 11pm

-she wants to make people happy so she says she's enjoying herself but she is miserable

-she was under the impression that she would be able to shower, and is confused on why no one is

-she eats a sandwich she packed because she has a mild nut allergy and didnt want to risk any food they get causing an allergic reaction

-she really wanted to have fun, but parties are not her thing

-just a constant downer, he brings the mood down SO fast

-yet he stays up all night, creepily watching people sleep and drawing them

-he is… he is not happy.

-he didnt want to come, he knew he wouldn't have fun, yet he was talked into coming.

-he isnt a fan of everyone shouting and playing loud music and using drugs, he just wanted to have a relaxing evening with friends

-he sleeps in a sweater and shorts, and he brings a change of clothes for the morning

-he just watches lets plays on his phone while hiding somewhere thats quiet and no one can find him

-he ends up not falling asleep at all, despite trying REALLY HARD to

-”god damn i actually WANT to ‘go to sleep’ now,”

-he comes out of his hiding spot briefly to eat whatever they ordered and instantly goes back to hide

-hes got a blanket and pillows, and he is cozy in his corner, and thats the best he can do

-he is pissy when he does interact with the others, he just doesn't get why people like to party at all

-he puts on some goth music in between lets plays and texts helen about how miserable he is and eventually goes to sit by him for a bit, and they sit quietly

a/n: i'm back on my pretty setter agenda hahaha this is for the pixel café network's stuck in a pickle challenge friday! the prompt i got was "character a has been secretly in love with their best friend, character b, for years. but just as they finally decided to confess, character b announces they're engaged to someone else."

2012

It was the most cliché thing, and he knew it.

Going to Tendou for advice was probably not the smartest idea he ever had. The guy was full of manga idealism, and none of those ideas were remotely applicable in real life. Semi chalked it off as a moment of unexplainable weakness (Tendou loudly disagreed, after shoving his little finger into Semi's left nostril for no fucking reason at all), after seeing some rando you went to cram school with show up at Shiratorizawa one summer afternoon with an overly toothy smile that he decided he didn't trust one bit.

This was supposed to be romantic. 'Heart-fluttering', or whatever nice-sounding words Tendou used to sell the idea to him. It didn't feel that way at all. Semi felt like an absolute creep, standing around one of the school's inner courtyards with his uniform shirt untucked and hanging open.

He picked at the loose strands that were still partially threaded through the assorted buttons in his palm and rolled them into a little ball. It wasn't his intention to rip out all the buttons on both his uniform shirt and jacket. Tendou said something about the button sitting closest to the heart being the most romantic one to confess with, but that made no sense to him at all. Wouldn't it be more romantic to give you all of them?

Semi could feel it in his bones. He was definitely going to get an earful from his mother when he got home—

"Finally found you, Eita!" Your voice rang out across the afternoon that was quickly slipping into evening. He swivelled around to find you jogging on the path leading out from the main school building, the carrot plushie he gave you earlier bundled up in your arms along with an obnoxiously large teddy bear holding a pink heart (your favourite colour was purple, dammit)—

Well, shit.

It was only muscle memory that pulled him through after that.

Because Semi hadn't done this whole romantic confession thing before (he never wanted to, until now. Until you.), he didn't get to say what he wanted to say. Didn't know how. He took long strides to meet you halfway, shoving his buttons into his back pants pocket. Before he could say what was in his heart, he began telling you how his parents wanted you over dinner instead. That his sister had been hounding him to insist on a sleepover so that you could play Super Smash Bros with her.

You paused every so often on the walk out of the school compound, struggling with that fucking teddy bear that was too bulky to be endearing or useful. Semi offered you an arm, and some part of him rejoiced when you looped yours around his rather than handing the bear off.

"The fangirls got you good, huh?"

That was what he let you believe, because it was easier than being honest.

2021

You haven't been back in Miyagi since you left to attend university in Tokyo almost nine years ago.

Seeing you come out of the east exit of Sendai Station brought all those years back, and Semi felt like he was in high school again. He chuckled to himself as he weaved seamlessly into the late-morning crowd, watching you wander about the street looking for him with your suitcase in tow.

"Boo," he said, after sidestepping a couple that simultaneously shot him a scowl so that he could appear to pop up behind you.

You turned to him and you smiled, and he felt like he could finally say it. The words were already on the tip of his tongue, broken in like a pair of well-loved pointe shoes. This wasn't the romantic moment he wanted, but it would have to do.

If not now, then when?

"Missed you." Your greeting was muffled into the lapel of his coat. The way you spoke it was curt and business-like, but he knew that you were putting on airs because you didn't want to cry. Not after being away from home for almost a decade.

Semi's reciprocal was automatic, easy. You disguised a sniffle behind a fake cough, angling your face away from him to add to the drama of it.

"Hey, now. You know that doesn't work on me!"

He pinched your nose, the way he'd always done. You swatted his hand away only after your nose was thoroughly pinched, the way you'd always done—

It was the most cliché thing, and he knew it.

Just when he'd worked up some nerve and been handed an opportunity too perfect to pass up, you'd already answered to someone else who was quicker than him. Braver than him. Maybe more foolish than him.

Semi kept the confession he'd been nursing for the better part of nine years to himself, allowing himself to be moved once again by the motions drilled into his bones. He put his hand on your suitcase when you stopped to check your phone in case of emails from work, offering you an arm. You looped your left arm around his, your hand laden with that ring laid over the bend of his elbow.

mk world still looks very fun and I'm still buying the bundle, but that direct was the biggest nothingburger. I remember when smash bros directs used to be a thing and they were SUPER worth watching for deep dives on new characters and such. but they didn't even tell us anything about the new trick system in mk world.

literally what were they hoping to accomplish with this when half of their fanbase is on fire rn? people already feel like $80 isn't justified and they didn't even try to prove anyone wrong.

I don't want this console to fail cus I think it's damn cool that it's pretty much a more powerful switch, but they are not landing this launch very well so far.

I feel like people forget just how many Nintendo IPs got proper revives on the Switch, so I made a big fat thread about some

The biggest one in my eyes, a series that holds strong importance to me, is Pikmin. After getting a pretty damn good game on the Wii U back in 2013 the series was propelled into a limbo-like state with Pikmin 4 being "On My Way!" for a decade straight. Mainline wise, nothing, we don't talk about Hey Pikmin. Absolute crickets for awhile and then almost overnight it became THE system for Pikmin games. Pikmin 3 Deluxe, which is way more than just a port, with a bucket full of new content and an alternative campaign, released October 30th 2020. Back to crickets for a few years until all of a sudden, Pikmin 4 and ports of Pikmin 1 and 2 released on the same day of July 21st 2023. All incredible games in their own right, the supreme ports of all, insanely proud Nintendo treats their small fish franchise with such delicate care; if you're using this list as a game suggestions list, check out Pikmin you will NOT regret it.

Famicom Detective Club, which was one damned to eternal obscure Nintendo fanatic knowledge hell, has arose from its grave and is unironically making strong waves. The last original game being made in 1989 and then having "Super Famicom Satellaview Remasters" in the mid 90s, which are damn hard to find proper info on. Other than that, tombstone. Only real thing of note being that it was the first project Yoshio Sakamoto sunk his pen into, other than that it was doomed to niche oddity and a footnote in gaming history. The Switch changed all that, with remakes of the first two games being bundled together and released May 14th 2021. That's not all, a brand new game in the series, "Emio - The Smiling Man", is currently set to release August 29th 2024 as of writing

F-Zero, technically got a new game! It's pennies compared to everyone else's quarters and dollars, but after a 20+ year hiatus its worth a mention. With the last game in the series, ironically called F-Zero Climax, released on the GBA there were crickets after that. Gone but not forgotten, it got the occasional rerelease onto the latest system's virtual console, and it still had a spot in Smash Brothers. Granted if you were me growing up you'd figure that Captain Falcon was just some wack original character, but shit the representation matters. It was like that until September 14th, 2023, when a brand new game in the series with online got announced and released later in a Nintendo direct! Sure it was just a battle royale game, another drop in the bucket with the 99 subtitle, but it counts for this list.

Metroid, the series infamous for its dry spells, has been an oasis of new content recently. The last chronological game in the 2D Metroid series was Fusion, released in 2002, with the Metroid Prime game getting its third installment in 2007. In terms of original games, that was it. There was a remake of Metroid 1 on the GBA, and a remake of Metroid 2 on the 3DS, and there were spinoffs here and there (Metroid Prime Pinball is my GOAT baby); other than that, nothing. That is until the Switch came along, with Metroid Prime 4 being announced within the same year of the Switch's release. It took literally 7 years to get more info about Prime 4 but its with confidence to say that the game is coming out, sometime in 2025. 2D Metroid, long dormant and stagnant and almost two decades without a game got a surprise announcement in a Nintendo Direct; the highly anticipated and teased Metroid Dread, long thought to be a cancelled DS game but emerging in the flesh brazen as ever. Released October 8th, 2021, Metroid is officially back after what felt like centuries of wait.

2D Mario has been stuck in a rut of unoriginality for a decade and a half now. Since the release of New Super Mario Bros for the DS in May 2006, 2D Mario was stuck in a loop of distilling the same damn game over and over, with it getting stripped more and more of what once was in such a short time. It hit a boiling point in November 2012, with the release of "New Super Mario Bros U", the second New Super game to release that year. After that, nothing. People were sick of what felt like the same damn game, sure they were passable but it felt emblematic of everything 2D Mario shouldn't be. Then, almost like an angel from the heavens, came Super Mario Bros Wonder; the antithesis of New Super, it had original concepts in boatloads and felt like a proper evolution of 2D Mario. New concepts in spades, so much extra content, brilliant new artstyle in a new kingdom. It feels like going from store bought freezer pancakes from Walmart to a French chef from a 5 michelien star restaurant making you your breakfast.

The Mario & Luigi series, although a cult classic series, never quite got the mainstream attention it deserved. Even with classics like Bowser's Inside Story, Dream Team, Superstar Saga, the financial backing from the public and internal was just never quite there. After Dream Team (sleeper hit, if you're interested check it out!), it was the beginning of the end with the release of Paper Jam. Reused assets, real basic baby story, padding aplenty, dialogue that hits the senses like pulling teeth (fuckin leave Luigi alone), there's no way this was anything other than a cash grab. A collaboration with Paper Mario too, another cult classic series, it was insulting to both Paper Mario fans and M&L fans. After that, no new original games. Alphadream pumped out two remakes, which are pretty alright, and them they went bankrupt. God bless Alphadream, but the writing was on the wall when they kept making 3DS games long after the Switch came out. It was a dark time, felt clear as light that the M&L series will remain to be past tense and just a footnote in the large conglomerate that is Mario now. Until recently, with the announcement of Brothership; a new spanking game in the M&L series releasing in November of this year.

Genuine generational run Nintendo is going on right now. List could've droned on for easily triple the length, and I might make a sequel to this one day. Could've been even more if i talked about new Nintendo's new IPs or just how much better everything's gotten. It rules we live in this time now, especially after the dark ages of the Wii U.

If I could customize any of the little things the pet does, could it be Sonic Adventure 1&2 themed stuff? Specifically, chao garden related? I'll add some items for my room later, I'll show you when I'm done!

I'm not sure I'm super well-versed in chao garden related stuff. I've watched other people play Sonic Adventure 2 a long time ago so I do sort of know what chao are, I know that you can make them compete in races and I know that they will sometimes draw little pictures for you with crayons. If you had anything specific in mind feel free to give me suggestions and give me examples of what you're talking about.

While I've never actually played the game myself, I do have Sonic Adventure 2 in my Steam library because I must have bought some Sonic bundle that was on sale a long time ago, so I can technically play it whenever I want whenever I have the time or energy to do so.

I feel like Sonic Adventure 2 is one of those games that nearly everyone has played and that it's a little weird that I've never played it. I even had a gamecube growing up, Sonic Adventure 2 was just never a game that me or my siblings owned for it for some reason. I seem to have missed out on a lot of other gamecube games that are also typically regarded as classics as well, like Pikmin and Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. I did have Super Mario Sunshine, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Kirby Air Ride, and the original Animal Crossing though.

Early the next morning, a car pulled up in front of the house. Gwyn slowly woke up to the sounds of Nesta greeting Lucien and Elain. She couldn’t pull herself out of bed for another few minutes but forced herself to. She got up to splash water onto her face. It left some of her wet hair sticking to her face. Normally she would put some effort into getting ready, but it was six in the morning on Christmas Eve and she was exhausted. She braided her long red hair neatly, but that was all that she was willing to do.

Nesta and Emerie were busy in the kitchen but everybody else seemed to be asleep. Gwyn waved to everybody, grabbing a mug to make her coffee in. Lucien came up beside her, putting an arm around her.

“Somebody’s in the Christmas spirit,” he quipped ruffling her already messy hair. She playfully punched him in the side as she asked Elain if she wanted some coffee. Elain couldn’t hear her. She was transfixed with decorating the tree. Perfectly. Would things suspiciously fall into place? Gwyn wondered. She didn’t dwell on the question for too long before joining her friends in the kitchen. Despite it not being Christmas yet, Nesta wanted to have an early dinner today and a lunch on Christmas. Gwyn wasn’t one to argue with her now.

Gwyn sat rested against the arm of the couch, stomach stuffed with cookies. She watched her friends enthusiastically playing Super Smash Bros. The sound of a car pulling up could be heard outside. Lucien patted her on the knee. In her food induced daze she met his eyes.

“It sounds like Azriel is here Gwyn,” he whispered. That couldn’t be. It was 4pm, he shouldn't have been home until ten at least. Gwyn shot up and sped towards the window. Sure enough, Rhysand’s rental was parked in front of their house and a tall dark figure exited.

“It’s him!” she cried like a child that had just seen Santa. She opened the door, not bothering to change into her outside shoes. Her loafers would be soaked but she couldn’t care any less.

He was bundled up in a thick coat, blue beanie and a scarf and gloves. He had traded the tropical heat of the DRC for the sub-zero Canadian winter, and he didn’t seem to like it. Azriel’s focus was squarely on his luggage, which was much heavier than when he left. Rhys’ eyes flashed over to her and he mentioned something to Azriel before waving. Azriel turned with eyes that lit up brighter than the stars. He abandoned his bags, leaving them to Rhys. Neither Gwyneth, nor Azriel had enough restraint to keep a slow pace. They ran to each other, meeting just at the old mailbox that they never used. He lifted her into his arms and she clung to him like he would disappear if she let go.

“Gwyn,” was all that he could manage to say before pulling back to look her in her big aqua eyes, now brimming with tears.

“Don’t go away for that long again,” she said half-joking. His small laugh rumbled through his chest, and she wanted to bathe in that familiar feeling.

“I’ll figure out how to take you with me next time.”

“Emotional support person!” She chimed. He smiled down at her, noticing the redness that now played itself across her nose. He carried her inside, where he would’ve dropped her, had she not been hanging onto him as tightly as she was. His face was half shock and half smile.

“No way.” He waved to everybody with his free hand. “I thought it was just Rhys and Feyre here.”

“Surprise!” She kissed him on the nose.

Cassian got up to give his brother a hug, but Gwyn refused to move, and she ended up being squished between them. She had earned her clinginess for today, but Azriel dropped her off onto the sofa.

“Your shoes, Gwynnie.” He crouched down to pull the damp shoes from her feet. “Your toes are gonna turn blue.”

Out of the corner of her eye, Gwyn could see Emerie and Nesta look at each other. No doubt with expressions of feigned disgust at their affection. When he was done, he went to fetch the rest of his bags. Feyre volunteered to help, and Lucien followed, talking to her animatedly on their way out. A few minutes later everything was at the front door. Rhys had to fill his tank and would be back soon.

Azriel hugged everybody before he settled into a spot beside Gwyn and held her hand in his lap while Elain excitedly grabbed at the pile of presents, eagerly reading the names on each parcel and passing it to the right person. Gwyn watched Azriel open his present from her. The best watch that she could get on her salary.

“Waterproof, so you don’t wreck another one.”

He smiled at her. He’d mentioned that he’d broken his watch a few weeks ago and Gwyn thought that it would be perfect. She wasn’t the best gift giver, but he seemed happy and began to cuff it around his wrist immediately.

The rest of the room was abuzz with excitement. Elain and Lucien were laughing together while Cassian was trying to tell them a story. Suddenly, she felt stupid for thinking that her friends wouldn’t come through for her. They always had.

A knock at the door interrupted dinner. Nesta opened the front door to reveal Rhysand holding a shoebox sized present. There was no wrapping paper, instead a pretty red bow sat on top of the white cardboard lid. Gwyn wondered what Feyre was getting. Knowing Rhys, it would be something overwhelmingly expensive. Surprisingly, he placed the box in front of Gwyn.

“Your boyfriend must love you very much,” he said, with a small smile playing on his lips.

Gwyn turned to Azriel. “From you?”

He nodded, putting a hand over the box. “Go ahead, open it,” he prompted, watching her intensely. Gwyn slowly lifted the cover to reveal two innocent green eyes looking up at her. A kitten, barely bigger than Azriel’s hand, clamoured to get out and onto Gwyn’s lap. Gwyn held the creature up, level with her face. The cat barely moved, letting out a soft meow. She cuddled the little black cat at her chest, and it buried itself into her sweater looking for warmth. A fluffy black bundle covered in wool.

“It’s mine?” she asked in disbelief. She had always wanted a cat, but their last apartment didn’t allow pets.

“He is all yours.” Rhysand held his hand out to the animal, now comfortably blanketed by Gwyn’s long aubern hair. His cold nose touched Rhys’ finger and he chuckled at the sensation.

The rest of the table watched her hold her new pet lovingly, each with expressions of adoration and awe at the family’s new addition. The kitten yawned and Elain and Emerie cooed in unison.

“Az,” Gwyn whispered, astounded. She felt her eyes get heavy with tears but blinked them away, saving them for later. “He’s perfect, I couldn’t think of anything better.”

She was excited to watch him grow from this pint-sized ball of fluff into a cat that would undoubtedly be her best friend, based on how sweet he already was. She was so enamoured with her kitten that she didn’t notice Lucien crouched beside her, rubbing the cat’s cheek with the back of his index finger.

“What are you naming him Gwynnie?” Azriel asked, scratching the cat behind his oversized ears.

She thought about his fluffy coat. The shiny black that seemed like liquid night. The way he curled himself away and into the dark safety of her hair.

“Shadow,” she announced, “he’s my little Shadow.”

She leaned over to kiss Azriel properly for the first time in months and pulled back, dizzy with delight.

It was eight when Azriel made Gwyn take him to the popup ice rink near the university. Predictably, nobody wanted to go out into the cold, but Emerie flashed a goofy smile as an apology. The rink wasn’t far. A five-minute drive. She was reluctant, unsure if they would even be open on Christmas Eve but surely enough there were a few families and couples there, skating around.

“We don’t even have ice skates,” Gwyn chuckled, “are we just coming to people watch?”

“It’s nice,” he spoke, “To be in a familiar place with you. I missed this.” Gwyn looked up at him. This place was more than familiar. They only had one car so on especially cold days, Az would wait for Gwyn here to take her home. On warmer days when the snow fell lightly, they'd take walks which led to many unfortunate falls in the snow for both of them. She smiled.

“I missed this too.”

He pulled her close to him and kissed her. A delicate kiss with an undercurrent of intensity that told her that he was holding himself back. He had her flush against his warm body and she held on tightly. Through her eyelids, she could see the change in the light. Green, white and red flashed in sequence around them. She held his face as she turned to look. The decorative lights.

“The lights turn on around this time,” he explained,” It’s only like this for half an hour so I had to bring you now.”

She glanced up at him, seeing the world in his beautiful eyes.

“I haven’t given you your gift yet,” he grinned.

“Shadow isn’t my gift?”

He stroked her cheek with his left hand, while he fished around in his deep pocket for a surprisingly large, wrapped box.

“Let’s not pretend that Shadow isn’t a gift for me too.”

She took the box he held out to her and exercised as much self-control as she could to keep from ripping it open. Inside was another cardboard box, and another in that. When she got to the second smallest box, she found a note that had been folded into practically nothing.

Gwyn, I’ve missed you more than you could ever realise. A month felt like a year. I didn’t know our attachment was so strong until we were apart. Everything reminded me of you: the plants, the sunset, the birds that sing like you do. I waited until I could call and seeing you made me want to make me come back. I’ve never met anybody that puts my anxiety at ease like you, that makes me laugh like you. Together, I think we can do anything, and I don’t want anybody else at my side.

Gwyn gasped as she read the final words.

Will you make me the happiest man in this world and the next and be my forever?

He produced a black velvet box from his pocket and got down on one knee, unbothered by the thin spread of ice on the ground. Inside the box was a golden ring that was shaped to look like a vine with aquamarine and gold leaves.

“Gwyneth Berdara, will you marry me and be my forever?”

Gwyn was nonverbal, making sounds of shock and delight. Tears heated her cold cheeks as she nodded.

“I want nothing more.”

My amiibo collection as of August 26, 2023

I now have a total of 38 amiibo. The latest one in my collection is Lucina from the Super Smash Bros. amiibo collection, which I got last week (August 19, 2023).

In case you're wondering, the VERY first amiibo that I have ever bought was the Pink Yarn Yoshi amiibo. I bought it back in the summer of 2016, specifically the month of May.

The plastic part of the box surely is aging, as you can see...

Apparently the same case happened with my Shulk amiibo, despite the fact that I bought it back in 2019 IIRC 😭

The Yarn Poochy amiibo is the only amiibo I bought in a sort of special edition for a game, specifically Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly World. The bundle came with the game as well as the aforementioned amiibo.

The Tom Nook and Kapp'n amiibo are an interesting case, as they're the only amiibo I own that don't have their boxes. Long story short, when I first got my Nintendo Switch from a relative of mine back in December of 2017, a few weeks before Christmas (Therefore the Switch becoming an early Christmas gift), said relative also gave me the amiibo of Tom Nook and Kapp'n.

Coming back here to say that I find it wild that I'm almost at 40 amiibo. Plus, if you look at my amiibo collection, the ones from the Smash Bros. series are the majority amount of amiibo I have. Right now, I have 23 amiibo from the Smash Bros. series.

If there are amiibo that I really want right now, they are Pac-Man, Squirtle, Charizard, and Pikmin (Which was the one released for Hey! Pikmin on the 3DS)

I already have a PKMN Trainer amiibo as well as an Ivysaur amiibo, so I might as well complete the set.

Plus, I've been wanting a Pac-Man amiibo, but I always kept buying other amiibo LOL That is definitely my fault, since I don't see any Pac-Man amiibo on stock in game stores I usually buy at. But considering that Nintendo is re-releasing some amiibo, maybe, just maybe...

Also some stuff I forgot to mention: I hate what happened to the box of my Smash Bros. Kirby amiibo 😭 As you can see, the cardboard portion of the box fell off 😔

Oh well, nothing I could do about it. At least it's not as bad as what happened to the boxes of my Mr. Game and Watch, Steve, and Min Min amiibo, which are all in beat up condition 😭

The Mr. Game and Watch amiibo box is especially the worst contender in my opinion 😭

Times of Obscurity

Yeah…you can take a good guess given current times in the gaming space what this post is gonna be about. One topic is obvious and the other perhaps not so much.

The current gaming space is as fickle as it has always been which speaks to my current decision making predicament. On one hand, I want value in gaming. Current value comes big time in a game called Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. A turn based RPG with some surprises to enhance the combat without being considered real-time combat. It's got an engaging story. No it was not “made by thirty people”, but the main studio that is Sandfall Interactive deserves all the credit for all they were able to do, alongside the help they got to make this all come together. The music seems like AAA standards from a AA studio. It takes cues from older JRPGS combined with Western influence and photo realistic characters. A great voice cast. The only “bad” thing is the potential roadblock on parry/dodge timings. Take a good look at Metactitic though and people seem to mostly have no issue “gitting gud” and being up to the challenge. If I talk about things past a surface level, not only will this post be a very long one, but it also will take away from the many surprises throughout the story from the very beginning. The second topic is also well known across the gaming space at this time.

On the other hand, we have what I've seen as value for years, and it is starting to be questionable at best. Chances are high there is a Switch 2 in my future. A combination of financial miracles, a work bonus (plus this month being a three paycheck month), and going against my better judgement, I am making the plunge into Nintendo's new ecosystem. Yes, tariffs made the console more than many of us would have liked. I also don't think that's the whole story either and just and easy thing for Nintendo to hide behind to justify raising prices. Companies are gonna be companies. Someone had to be bold and show with their actions they "don't make enough money" so here here are. With what the Nintendo Switch 2 offers, I'm honestly okay with it. It's the game prices that are the bigger problem…and yes, they started the trend that now Microsoft is following, and the “NextBox” isn't even out yet. Nintendo is also going more digital in a similar fashion to what Microsoft did years ago. Physical media is taking a huge hit between the Virtual Cart system, and many games coming with a code and a cartridge that doesn't have the full game on it. Some may not have a cartridge at all. No discount for digital by the way. Launch day has Mario Kart World. We have to wait for Donkey Kong Bananza which will be the debatable bigger game and is $70 instead of $80. Not sure the logic there. I felt this same way when I got the Wii years ago, but we at least knew about Super Smash Bros Brawl coming down the line. A lot of the Switch 2 future is a mystery and/or upgrades to Switch 1 games. By the way, they cost $10-$20 more for upgrades, or a full $80 for the Switch 2 versions if you never bought the game previously. Also, you know, because we have to mention tariffs again, if you want any accessories, all of them are $5-10 more. Because I see how this all may come off, I am cautiously optimistic…and much like every Pokemon game to come out on the original Switch, I think that is a perfectly valid stance to have. There's a lot of price uncertainty and the biggest drawback for me? No Hall Effect joysticks! Guess stick drift will be coming into a other gaming generation, even though we have the solution to the problem. I will not be getting a Switch 2 Pro Controller. The old one will work on it. It will be fine. Of course I got the bundle with Mario Kart. Rather have a $50 Mario Kart vs a $80 one…which people are forced into by the way after they cut off the bundle entirely in the Fall. Total FOMO to increase sales.

You could say I'm painting Nintendo as the villain. If the shoe fits, it fits…and someone had to push the price barrier. Just didn't expect it from the company that has almost always been a safe bet. What a shame…shame on me that is, because the lack of transparency was there since the Nintendo Direct reveal. We had to wait for the site to go live to even get the price at all, and scroll to the bottom of the Mario Kart World page to see the retail price. This is a different Nintendo, whether the Switch 2 is successful or not. The good thing is if it does, last time a failure happened, we got the Switch. I don't however expect Switch 2 to fail…even with a shaky future. Nintendo isn't going anywhere or “failing” for the thousandth time people want to make that claim.

With all that said, I'm aware I'm contributing to "the problem" by investing further into gaming, but it isn't going anywhere, and I'm still highly curious. I'll find myself being less curious or focusing more on backlogs, especially early in the Switch 2 lifecycle, but yeah. Even if Somy were to drop Bloodborne Remastered or a sequel on the PlayStation 6, I'd probably opt out. I don't want to pay quadruple digits for a console. I just don't. I refuse. I don't do it with phones, I won't do it here either. What Microsoft might be doing is interesting for next-gen, but not interesting enough for me to consider the overall price of things. I can't say I'm opting out from gaming but I decided a while back, before the cautious optimism, that all I need moving forward is my PC, and the next Nintendo console. All this price raising news solidified this choice for me. There will be fun to be had but enough is enough. Things will eventually come to PC from the other consoles and for the Nintendo exclusives, I'll be ready. If Switch 2 ends up being the "wrong" choice, I've done this before with the Wii U and a PS3.

We're entering a gaming generation in which we are gonna be priced out entirely or have some tough choices to make. For all the tough choices there will be, I am almost certain of two things. Nintendo will eventually put out first party bangers to enjoy thoroughly. For everything else within the gaming space, it is thinking with intent, waiting for sales, or mostly sticking to AA/Indie titles. The smaller scale games are an easy way to stick it to the giants of the industry by voting with your wallet, get a better experience, and likely pay less than now your common $80 - $100 for your Standard/Deluxe games, digital or physical. If the players had any power, they sure have a lot less of it now, unless we're smarter about our choices. Whether we want to or not, many of us will have to be…if we can even partake at all.

Women's Month Video Games

Two games I've played recently and one series from my childhood.

Frist one ~

Princess Peach Showtime! (developed by Good-Feel and published by Nintendo)

I think this games is so cute and is thousand times better then Super Princess Peach...LOL J/k I like both Super Princess Peach games (1&2) I think Peach deserves the spot light just like Zelda.

I like how show time gives Peach the Barbie experiences of being anything she wants to be. With cute dresses and suits to go with whatever she is on stage. Peach isn't being followed by Toad (see him in small parts of the game) but by Sparklas and her new Star BBF Stella. My favorite persona of Peach is her Swordfighter self/ custom. I thought it was going to be the detective but I don't know, I now want Peach to have a game as a sword fighter or an outfit option in smash bros where she can sword fight the others with swords like Link.

I had fun playing this and I think it’s important to remember games are meant for enjoyment and to make you feel less stress from life.

So, Peach for the Win🩷

hmm, I like decorating and I like anything where you can put together a house. My OCD also makes me want to put everything away neatly. I also love a game that requires you to be a bit observant. and boy was I. I like being told a story with little to no text or explanation, the environment and stuff and places you have your stuff tells the story. I also love, love digging in peoples stuff to find clues.

For Women's month I chose this as a game to talk about because it is a story of a women's life moving place to place through life. A person’s life journey from childhood to collage to bad first relationship, to having a career and kids to a healthy relationship and a fulfilling life that one could be proud of. Also the hardships of being a women are subtlety coded into the game with the women we fallow and her life and you can find her hardships in the rooms she inhabits if your looking for the clues and context.

Last but Def Not Least.

Nancy Drew, more so the Nancy Drew PC/Computer Games. Developed by HeR Interactive.

My love for Nancy Drew is one I’ve had almost my entire life, starting with my mom reading me the books to her getting by the PC Games and siting there helping me play them. My mother would have me try to read and figure out the game's the best I could and do the puzzles first by myself before giving me hints then helping because this was one way I could learn and take interest in both reading but whatever the subject matter was in the game.

I Still love them, I just wish they were for the Switch or something else besides PC and something handheld like the App store (I think there's one that's app friendly and I do have the wolf one for the wii). But from what I hear they (HeR Interactive) may not make any more for awhile.

My Favorites are Stay Tuned for Danger, I liked more then OG Secrets Can Kill out of the first ever games I played. Treasure in the Royal Tower, a French castle in the middle of the us in the middle of a storm with allot of humors moments. Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake, the DOGS! the underground tunnels! and Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon with the Hardy Boys and on a train. Those are my fav 4.

Bayonetta 2 was announced in 2012 during a Nintendo Direct for the Wii U. The decision received backlash from fans, since the game would not be available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.[8] Platinum was initially working with Sega to create the sequel, but Sega decided to cancel the game during the game's development. Nintendo subsequently revived the project. According to producer Atsushi Inaba, the game would not have been possible if they did not get the funding and the support from Nintendo. Sega remained as the game's consultant.[9][10] The game was directed by Yusuke Hashimoto, and Kamiya has a supervision role.[11] The game was released in 2014 to very positive reviews. While sales for the Wii U version have not been fully disclosed, by March 2018, Nintendo confirmed the Switch version had sold 400,000 copies during its first nine weeks, compared to the 300,000 copies the Wii U version sold during the same period. As of December 2021, the Switch version has sold 1.04 million copies worldwide.[12]

Bayonetta 3 (2022)

A third game in the series was announced by Nintendo at The Game Awards 2017. A gameplay trailer was shown at the September Nintendo Direct 2021. It was released for the Nintendo Switch on October 28, 2022, and opened with positive reviews from both critics and fans.[13] The game went on to win Best Action Game at the Game Awards 2022.[14] The game also features a playable teaser for Cereza and the Lost Demon as a secret level and unlocks a special skin once found.

A prequel companion game to Bayonetta 3, focusing on Cereza as a young girl, was announced by Nintendo at The Game Awards 2022. It was released on Nintendo Switch on March 17, 2023.[15]

An anime film based on the first game, titled Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, was produced by Gonzo and released in 2013.[16]

Bayonetta appears as a downloadable character in Sega's multiplayer fighting game Anarchy Reigns, and as a special guest character alongside Jeanne and Rodin in Nintendo's action game The Wonderful 101.[17][18] She also appears as a downloadable character in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and as an unlockable character in the sequel Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Both games also feature a stage based on the falling Umbra Clock Tower which appeared in both Bayonetta games. Rodin was also added as an Assist Trophy in Ultimate.[19][20][21]

The original Bayonetta was also used as a basis for a Pachislot and a 16-bit-style browser game.
