What are your favorite beauty and haircare products?

oh man this is such an important question to me. i'm going to take it in order of types of product

skincare: i can't rave enough about the Paula's Choice BHA. It's done WONDERS for my skin in just the couple of weeks i've been using it. I absolutely love it. Also i just started testing the supergoop unseen sunscreen (and actually all their spf products) and i love love love them all already.

primer: milk hydrogrip. i've tried so many. but this, this, is the best.

foundation: fenty beauty hydrating foundation!!! also the make up forever ultra HD stick foundation. sooo gorgeous. buttery. incredibly easy to blend. hydrating. love love love.

concealer: i've been using the kosas concealer lately - it's solid! very natural. i think i'd have liked a bit more coverage but it blends sooo beautifully and feels amazing.

powder: laura mercier setting powder. i love her. i need her. also the fenty beauty pressed powder for touch-ups and a second setting powder.

blush: how to even express. i love blush. colourpop supershock blushes are amazing. so bouncy and delicious. RARE BEAUTY LIQUID BLUSHES i will SWEAR by these. my favorite blushes are brown and terracotta colors, and the rare beauty terracotta is soooo gorgeous. i also love the fenty beauty cream blush. i have a lovely brown/maroon color. obsessed with it.

highlighter: sorry, no one can beat the colourpop supershock highlighters. (though the rare beauty liquid illuminator is STUNNING especially paired with the blushes.)

eyeliner: even though my eyeliner is my signature, i actually don't have an eyeliner that i'm obsessed with. the closest one was the NYC (not NYX) eyeliner but that's been discontinued. i just pick up whatever and make it work. i HATE felt tip eyeliners, i much prefer brush-tip, and I don't like the really vinyl-y ones that peel off. i want them to be streaks of paint. eyeliner pencils, i love colourpop and urban decay. i really enjoy pops of color!

eyeshadow: my most used palettes are the ABH soft glam, the colourpop it's a mood mega palette, and the colourpop good sport palette. but i have...too many eyeshadow palettes and singles lol.

eyebrow products: i have naturally thick eyebrows and when they're threaded, they don't really need a whole lot. i used to use the LA Girl brow pomade but ever since i lost mine (lol) i've just been using tinted brow gel and that's enough for me to get a teensy bit more fullness and keep them set. i've been going between the essence dark brown tinted brow gel AND the colourpop dark brown tinted brow gel. my only complaint about the latter is that it's tiny so it runs out very quickly but it's my favorite.

haircare: i'm still working on figuring out exactly what works for me but i've really been enjoying the shea moisture leave in condition that's like. maracuja and fig? i think? it's really nice. also the hibiscus (hah) curling cream is really nice too!

-spice kinda reminded me of a colourpop supershock shade so here is this.

Summary: random imagine about having to smuggle spice in makeup palettes.

So you work at pressed powder store. You mix pigments. You use flowers and stones, even some bugs to make them.

But one day BAM! Knock Knock Bitch it's the mafia. You meet a red man with horns. Who says you need to turn spice in to pressed make up palettes. Or else.

You're here like. Excuse me. Who are you handsome man ?? In which you learn it's the new ruler of fucking Mandalor. Like what. Apparently his name is Maul.

Maul is taken by suprise when you call him handsome. Of course he hides it well. Only silently thinking. ' oh? That compliment was sincere. They really think I'm... attractive.'

That does things to him

You take the job as the boss ass ( Queen Or King) that you are. Also there's a lot of money to be made here and angry red man is low key kinda scary.

Maul though. He wants more praise and compliments.

Maul likes coming into your store and watching you work. He would start on his long monologs. You would listen to him talk in the background. Kinda like a podcast.

He really doesn't like this obi wan guy.

One time he came in right after practice. Completely topless covered in sweat.

You blushed and quietly commented " looking good there my lord. "

Correction. Maul wants compliments and praise from you.

A few months in you wore black lipstick with red eyeshadow, it made his hearts skip a few beats. And... he might have thought you were showing him that you were loyal to him.

It also didn't help you made a shade of red that was his skin tone and called it My lovely Lord.

And that you wore sparkly lip gloss and gave him a kiss on his hand. Hey you were just showing respect.

That and you were very good at your job. Smuggling them was a piece of cake.

He wanted more now. The man wanted more of you.

One day he came in with slightly dry lips. You of course. Offered some lip balm.

He for some reason refused to use it. So what did you do. Put it on your own lips and kiss him.

You grabbed him by the collar and kissed him.

Hey he let you kiss him. And he liked it.

He would leave your store with a slight blush. " I will come back when in need of that balm..."

He does come back. Because he needs skin moisturizer. He asks if you can apply it.

Which you do. Gently rubbing his face. Him melting at your touch. He also asks for a lip balm treatment again.

And so started your interesting courting.

Mascara: Benefit Bad Gal Bang (but the trick is to open it like a week before you need to start the tube because it’s too wet otherwise)

Foundation: the ordinary serum (light coverage) or too face born this way (medium coverage) or any of the Charlotte Tilbury ones

Lip gloss: glossier clear gloss (my holy grail)

Eyebrows: glossier boy brow (as tinted gel - the clear one isn’t anything special), NYX Mirco brow pencil (just as good if not better than ABH and a fraction of the cost)

makeup items i do “need” and/or am considering shopping for

one or two more of the inglot white flexi palettes. i would also like a small palette to hold the powder i have from them, but what i really would like is to get a darker shade of that powder so i can use both together, then a small palette that fits both (just two of the rectangular powders) but they don’t have that yet! (i’m describing MUFE style basically.)

mascara (this will be covered soon)

some new brow stuff, probably a drugstore wedge-shaped pencil and some glycerin soap

a pink liquid blush, probably the em cosmetics serum blush

mac fix+

a cream or liquid green color corrector

some new highlighters filling a hole i’m not totally sure of yet, but definitely including a mini of becca vanilla quartz

a fresh new blush brush

the green and yellow lime crime lip glosses if they go on sale

Beauty On A Budget!

Getting ready is so much more exhausting (and dare I say, annoying?) the older that I get. When I was 18, living at home and working part-time, I would take ALL DAY to get ready for that 4-hour shift at the Kroger. At 31, it’s such a chore. I still like being put together but I’m much more budget conscience of my time and my money. As a public school teacher, these products make it so easy to get ready in the morning and they are all under $15. Price can vary depending on where you purchase and availability. Personally, I’m a Target and Amazon girl. I’ve found that my skin texture is changing as I’ve entered my 30′s, I go for a more dewey, youthful look rather than the matte, heavy coverage looks that I did in my 20′s. These products are easy to use for even the laziest of us and they produce a very easy glam/everyday look. The ColourPop SuperShock and Pretty Fresh lines are my absolute FAVORITES. I swipe on some supershock after my bb cream and under eye concealer, a little powder and setting spray, throw on some lashes and I’m good to go in under 15 minutes. My time is everything and every little bit of extra sleep matters.
