hey, do you have any tutorials on your art progress? like maybe a time laps? i'm suuuuuper interested in that. :o
ohhh, so it's a pretty long story lol, first of all, thank you very much for your interest!!
actually I/ve been drawing for my whole life as long as I remember myself :D but I became a digital artist about 7 years ago and as I didn't used to draw on a computer really, my arts looked somewhat like that (just now that I'm feeling super shy at the moment lol)
this is 2018:


a little later I got my very first job as a 2D artist but as a freelancer and I also started attending some courses, lectures and practice and some time later it turned already into smth like that:

also, my nickname as the artist used to change from time to time until I got to the current one but nevermind
after that I got my very first "real" job as a 2D artist at a gamedev company and I started working on some real games hehe
that was the point when my art development got waaay quicker and I started drawing something like this as I worked with some more experienced artists
(this is 2021)

for the past couple of years and till 2025 I guess I used to draw a lot of fanarts, got into anime since the Covid started and drew lots of different game characters, props and other stuff like this:

but I also used to burn out a lot and drew rarely because of that and closer to the end of 2024 I started experimenting with renders a lot and finally realized the artsyle I really enjoy a lot, which bring me joy while drawing
(I knew it waay earlier but somehow I felt that if your art is not "fulle rendered" it's not cool, you know, and I stopped myself from drawing in a more comic-like line art style that I loved)
but finally I decided that art is all about comfort and enjoyment and since winter I guess I found the artsrtyle that I love and can develop and aalso I've got the craziest hyperfixation on Baldur's Gate 3 (and all the dnd related stuff unexpectedly) and now I draw stuff like this really a lot and also started learning more about comic panels, storyboards and so on to turn my illustrations into the short stories as well:

Man I don't know if I want to get in on Fields of Mistria while the hype is there and everyone's into it or wait until it's Actually finished because I don't want to invest time in another early access game. :/ It would be nice to participate while its relevant. It would also be nice to play a Finished game.

Headcanon that the traditional Waterdhavian unity-rings (that are made from half of each party's betrothal rings) for Gale's wedding to his new dwarfy husband need to be made to special order, and are created by his good friend, the newly-Baldurian jeweler, Iona. And while she does her best to make them as cohesive and beautiful as possible (not an easy feat, given the extreme difference in the thickness of dwarven- and human fingers- there's just so much more of one than the other-, but she does a splendid job), she... also adds a little extra something, free of charge. A little enchantment, that stems from the delicate band of decoratively twisted copper she weaves between the half-bands.
It's not a boost, or a spell, or anything- it's a simple pairing charm, based on a heavily modified message cantrip (hence the copper). Something that links these two items through even vast expanses of space (her metamagic turned up to 11, that particular Distant Spell enhancement covers like half a continent now), and makes it possible for a wearer to touch their attuned ring with a small magical pulse, and have the other feel the metal of their own ring react.
It's not capable of sending an actual message of course, but it does help in combating Arvid's newfound separation anxiety a lot. Being able to send an "are you okay?-ping" whenever he's starting to feel anxious and having Gale react with his own "yes, I'm okay-ping", it'll do a lot for this little guy's mental health post-game.
The first few tendays, he finds himself doing it every day they're apart, sometimes multiple times. And when each time the ring returns the signal, he... slowly starts to relax.
Gale is fine. This is his city. He's an extremely capable man. He's not about to one day just disappear, get taken away, never return home. He's fine, and they're fine, and everything is great. So over the months, the frequency of use kind of wanes a bit, and the ring's signal goes from "are you alright? are you safe?" to "I'm thinking about you", to "I love you". And it still pings quite often, but now it goes the other way just as often, and makes them smile every time.

I keep seeing ads for Honkai: Starrail where the guy says, "Hurry! You don't want to miss out on timed events!"
But I do, random streamer-looking guy! I really fucking do want to miss out on them!
In my experience, games that go too hard and too frequent on real time events are already stressful. Add gambling on top of that and you end up with not only "Come on it's only five more dollars" but "If you don't hurry up and give us more money soon you'll never ever get this character/costume/whatever" and that makes it all worse.
Also for the people comparing this to slot machines in terms of gambling I'd actually argue this is worse. This is more like online sports betting and similar online gambling. See, you have to leave the house to go to the casino and they're not all open 24 hours. Gacha games and online betting for cash are extra predatory because they dangle shit like this in front of you at all hours in your home. It'd be a lot harder to spend $5,000 at a casino on a whim if you weren't already in the damn casino.

#the sports betting ones piss me off in a different way because at least in massachusetts they always come with a hotline#if you're addicted to gambling call our hotline yeah okay maybe don't advertise you stupid addiction machine service then#gambling isn't inherently bad I do it from time to time with scratch tickets#but only if you have the self control to budget for it#same with spending money in online games#never spend more than you can part with *and* never spend more than you can enjoy in like a week#because who knows when any game goes offline#I don't play gacha games but I do toss some money toward games I enjoy either for ad free or a small item to support the developers#but I've also been tempted by the siren call of 'if you give us more money you can win'#at which point it's time to uninstall it before temptation sinks in#especially at 4am

thinking about all the wonderfully skilled and intelligent game artists forced into an industry where they're forced to work for a corporate panel and develop an empty, over workshopped idea
and they could be putting so much thought and love and care into their work but it'll just amount to such a small percentage of the finished piece
and then great portions of the audience will dismiss the whole thing as empty corporate nothing
the state of the games industry makes me very sad
#like yeah we should obviously be supporting small indie games studios run by artists#but unfortunately most artists in the world are gonna be working under piss poor conditions developing art for giant faceless companies#and my heart really breaks for them#not only bc of the conditions and the amount of labor expected#but also bc they're probably putting thought and effort and heart into what theyre working on#and like. who's going to appreciate it?#im hilarious

How do you *accidentally* make a programming language?
Oh, it's easy! You make a randomizer for a game, because you're doing any% development, you set up the seed file format such that each line of the file defines an event listener for a value change of an uberstate (which is an entry of the game's built-in serialization system for arbitrary data that should persiste when saved).
You do this because it's a fast hack that lets you trigger pickup grants on item finds, since each item find always will correspond with an uberstate change. This works great! You smile happily and move on.
There's a small but dedicated subgroup of users who like using your randomizer as a canvas! They make what are called "plandomizer seeds" ("plandos" for short), which are seed files that have been hand-written specifically to give anyone playing them a specific curated set of experiences, instead of something random. These have a long history in your community, in part because you threw them a few bones when developing your last randomizer, and they are eager to see what they can do in this brave new world.
A thing they pick up on quickly is that there are uberstates for lots more things than just item finds! They can make it so that you find double jump when you break a specific wall, or even when you go into an area for the first time and the big splash text plays. Everyone agrees that this is neat.
It is in large part for the plando authors' sake that you allow multiple line entries for the same uberstate that specify different actions - you have the actions run in order. This was a feature that was hacked into the last randomizer you built later, so you're glad to be supporting it at a lower level. They love it! It lets them put multiple items at individual locations. You smile and move on.
Over time, you add more action types besides just item grants! Printing out messages to your players is a great one for plando authors, and is again a feature you had last time. At some point you add a bunch for interacting with player health and energy, because it'd be easy. An action that teleports the player to a specific place. An action that equips a skill to the player's active skill bar. An action that removes a skill or ability.
Then, you get the brilliant idea that it'd be great if actions could modify uberstates directly. Uberstates control lots of things! What if breaking door 1 caused door 2 to break, so you didn't have to open both up at once? What if breaking door 2 caused door 1 to respawn, and vice versa, so you could only go through 1 at a time? Wouldn't that be wonderful? You test this change in some simple cases, and deploy it without expecting people to do too much with it.
Your plando authors quickly realize that when actions modify uberstates, the changes they make can trigger other actions, as long as there are lines in their files that listen for those. This excites them, and seems basically fine to you, though you do as an afterthought add an optional parameter to your uberstate modification action that can be used to suppress the uberstate change detector, since some cases don't actually want that behavior.
(At some point during all of this, the plando authors start hunting through the base game and cataloging unused uberstates, to be used as arbitrary variables for their nefarious purposes. You weren't expecting that! Rather than making them hunt down and use a bunch of random uberstates for data storage, you sigh and add a bunch of explicitly-unused ones for them to play with instead.)
Then, your most arcane plando magician posts a guide on how to use the existing systems to set up control flow. It leverages the fact that setting an uberstate to a value it already has does not trigger the event listener for that uberstate, so execution can branch based on whether or not a state has been set to a specific value or not!
Filled with a confused mixture of pride and fear, you decide that maybe you should provide some kind of native control flow structure that isn't that? And because you're doing a lot of this development underslept and a bit past your personal Balmer peak, the first idea that you have and implement is conditional stops, which are actions that halt processing of a multiple-action-chain if an uberstate is [less than, equal to, greater than] a given value.
The next day, you realize that your seed specification format now can, while executing an action chain, read from memory, write to memory, branch based on what it finds in memory, and loop. It can simulate a turing machine, using the uberstates as tape. You set out to create a format by which your seed generator could talk to your client mod, and have ended up with a turing complete programming language. You laugh, and laugh, and laugh.

Better Pool Floats
Hello I have a cute little mod I'm really excited to share with you! It started with a simple little inner tube, but I became so obsessed it turned into a whole pool float overhaul.
01 / Custom Animation Overrides
I really love using pool floats, but I always thought the default sitting pose was quite boring and stiff. So I've created new custom animations for the “relax” and “nap” interactions for adults and children. The pose is much more relaxed and natural now.
I chose not to override every animation, so you can still play the original EA version if you choose “sunbathe”. Since I didn’t override every animation, there will be some jumpy transitions between the EA pose and the relaxed pose. It’s particularly noticeable if the sim has a drink while relaxing, because there are a lot of different drink animations. There may also be some clipping or small imperfections.
02 / Improved Locomotion
I didn’t like how quickly the pool float would spin around and drift away, so I adjusted the movement speed to be much slower. Now it gently floats at a more natural pace.
03 / Custom Tuning Override
This will override the gameplay functionality for all pool floats in the game, including any cc that uses the default object_SitLoungeFloat tuning. I refined a lot of little details to improve the overall gameplay experience.
"Relax" now restores a bit of energy and fun, and also reduces negative buffs.
New "Relax Nude" interaction
Tired sims won't autonomously go to nap in the pool instead of like, a bed or sofa.
Sims won't always fall asleep after relaxing. Now they'll only fall asleep if they're tired, bored, lazy or drunk. (You can still manually use the nap interaction though.)
Removed the “scared” buffs and fear triggers. I found it annoying my sims would frequently develop a fear of swimming after relaxing on a pool float. Make it make sense EA!
Other small changes that no one will even notice
Bonus / Italia Classic Pool Float (Requires Riviera Retreat)
I originally designed this pool float for my upcoming Italia Tartosa World, but I'm sharing it early so you can enjoy it now. Just to be clear, my cc float is not required for the other features of the mod. And the mod features will work with floats from other packs like Island Living as well.
This mod is in early Access until 14/10/24. I worked really hard on this so I appreciate your patience and support ♡
