sweet pea x fem oc
A/N- i've never written before and idk if anyone will even see this but pls be nice. i've also not really watched riverdale in many years so i'm trying to piece things together but it won't follow the plot very well.
-archie andrews twin sister, delilah, is fed up with him being overprotective. so when a cute serpent offers her an opportunity, she can't turn it down
Tumblr media
"andrews," an unfamiliar voice called out. delilah hummed in response, not bothering to look who it was and instead continued piling notebooks out of her locker. "i hear your brother doesn't like you dating, he goes around and tells everyone not to go near you, 'or else'" the boy said.
"can i help you with something or...?" delilah said, closing her locker and looking at the boy.
"sweet pea," he extended his hand out to her. she readjusted the stack of book in her hands to shake his. "i've got a proposition for you," he stated.
"look, you wouldn't be the first boy to think he can get with me without my brother finding out," she started walking and followed her. "it never ends well."
"i think i can handle him," he stated. she turned to look at him and realized he had a point. he was incredibly tall and muscular. "but anyway that's not what i'm suggesting," he pulled her into an alcove. "i hate your brother, he thinks he's the shit and he keeps messing with southsiders."
"why are you telling me this?" she cut him off.
"i think we can help each other out," he said, resulting in a raised eyebrow from the girl. "you hate him for controlling you, i just hate him."
"okay, i don't hate my brother," she said.
"but you're fed up with him telling everyone not to go out with you?" he asked, and she sighed and murmured in agreement. "i'm suggesting a little revenge."
"why me?" she asked, he was getting annoyed at how she kept interrupting him.
"i'm probably the person your brother hates most, at least at this school. and i hate your brother so much, being with his sister would just kill him," he explained.
"'with' as in..." she said.
"dating," he clarified.
"let me get this straight, you want me to fake date you so you can get back at my brother for being a dick and i can get back at him for controlling my love life?"
"yep, pretty much," he shrugged.
"i'm still confused," she admitted. "if we're not actually together, you're not really getting back at him."
"if he believes we're together, then it's like i took something from him. he tries so hard to keep you away from guys, and his number one enemy being the one you defy him for. it'll make him go crazy."
"it'll make things worse, he's only gonna harass you more," delilah pointed out.
"once again, i can deal with him," he said. "just think about it," he walked away, leaving her to think.
she walked home alone and really thought about his proposal. she was fully on board with showing archie he couldn't control her, but she was scared of what he would do to sweet pea. it was all she thought about that entire night and she decided she just needed to sleep on it.
the entire next day she kept trying to find a time to talk to him but he was always with someone.
she was about to take it as a sign but as she was leaving school, she turned the corner and ran right into him. he grabbed her arm to stabilize her and raised his eyebrows at her.
"so?" he asked.
"i'm down," she told him. he smirked at her and they started walking. he led her to the back of the school where his bike was. he handed her his helmet and she hesitated before taking it.
"well it would be bad manners not to drive my girl home," he said, noticing her confused expression.
"okay hold up," she said as he mounted the bike. "i think we need to have a conversation about this."
"what is there to talk about?"
"uh, i don't know. how long are we gonna do this for?" she sat down on the ledge in front of him.
"until we decide we've had enough," he said.
"okay... how is this... gonna work?" she asked and he pondered for a moment.
"well, we should make sure archie sees us together, obviously. but we gotta keep this act up around other people too," he pulled his leg off his bike and stepped closer to her, putting his hands on her knees and spreading them so he could stand between them.
Sweet pea took the moment of silence to take a good look at her. he had seen her around school, of course, but it was always from a distance. her hair was usually messy, due to the loose curls in it.
but looking at her up close was different. her eyes were bright green and her skin was almost sickly pale. she had freckles littered about her face. she was a lot to take in. sweet pea knew he wouldn't have asked her if she wasn't at least a little bit attracted to her.
it shocked him how different she looked from her twin brother. he had bright red hair and dark eyes but her hair was pitch black and piercing green eyes.
"okay," she managed to finally get out. "i have some rules though."
"rules?" he threw his head back. "i don't really do rules."
"we get it, you're a bad boy," she rolled her eyes at him. "and yes i have rules. number one, we keep my dad out of this. he's been through a lot recently and i don't want to stress him out more," she waited for a sign be understood and when he nodded his head she continued. "number two, nothing too physical. i've never had a boyfriend before and i don't want all my firsts to be wasted on a boy-"
"like me?" he cut her off. "a serpent? a southsider?"
"who isn't actually my boyfriend," she finished, clearly annoyed.
"fine, but nobodies going to believe we're dating if i can't kiss you," he pointed out.
"you can kiss me, but i'm not doing anything more," she told him. "number three, you can't tell anyone this isn't real. if it got back to archie, neither of us would live to see another day."
"my lips are sealed," he said. "now if that's all..." he picked her up by her waist and gently placed her on the ground. "i think it's time we set the plan in motion," he gestured toward his bike.
"sure, but archie won't be home," she said as he placed the helmet on her head and messed with the straps.
"where will he be?" he got back on his bike and patted the space behind him.
"him and veronica go to pops every friday after school," she explained, carefully climbing on the bike. he grabbed her arms and placed them around his torso.
"then i guess i know where we're going," he started his bike. "hold on tight."

Walking on the Tracks - Ch. 3
Pairing: Sweet Pea x OC!Andrews
Warnings: Swearing
Summary: Natalie Andrews is dealing with the aftermath of her father run in with death, the rise of the Black Hood, her twin brother’s idiotic decisions, and high school. When her best friend, Jughead, becomes a Serpent, she finds that she is pulled into their world. Now she has to find a balance between the world she was born into and the world that is becoming her home.
Chapter One /// Two
She couldn’t believe how much of an idiot her brother was. When Natalie Andrews woke up that morning, she had received several text messages from her friends questioning her about some sort of video her brother had posted. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes as she clicked the link. The longer the video went on, the more irate she became.
“I’m going to kill him,” she muttered.
Natalie marched out of her bed and set about in search of her brother. However, the search was futile. He wasn’t home. With a grumble, she ran her fingers through her hair as she slumped back to her own room to get ready. Her anger bubbling beneath her skin.
The brunette traded her pajamas for a pair of black skinny jeans and a white crop top. After dressing, she made her way to the bathroom to finish getting ready. Her hair fell in loose curls as she double checked her reflection.
She still hadn’t heard Archie come back from wherever he had disappeared to, so she made her way down the steps for a quick breakfast. Her anger continued to simmer; bits and pieces looping in her mind.
“Morning,” she mumbled in greeting as her father joined her in the kitchen. Had he seen the video? Seeing as he wasn’t anxiously waiting for Archie’s return, she doubted it.
Although if Natalie was in Archie’s place, she would already be at school in hopes to avoid any confrontations. That would be the smart course of action.
The wavy haired girl made the two of them toast, wondering how best to bring up the video. Based off of the amount of text Natalie received before her alarm went off, she doubted Fred Andrews would make it through the day without seeing it.
Natalie thought it best that he saw it here before he was ambushed by the townspeople. Settling into the barstool beside him, she nibbled the toast debating if she should tell him about the Red Circle video first or just let him watch it.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Fred’s phone and she felt her stomach drop.
“Andrews,” he answered, “What are you talking about? No, I haven’t. Okay, thank you.”
She knew that tone could only mean one thing. Shifting in her seat anxiously, she watched as Fred pulled up the same video that she had finished watching not so long ago.
“Did you know?” his voice gruff, eyes never leaving the screen.
“No, not until I woke up,” she quietly admitted.
As the video ended, the porch door was flung open. Her eyebrows shot up as at the sight of her twin’s bright orange hair.
Shaking her head, she felt her own anger being restirred as her father began his lecture.
She was past chastising, past yelling. Her rage surrounded her, turning her frigid. She dropped her empty plate into the sink, pushing past her brother and out the front door.
It didn’t take long for Archie to catch up to Natalie. She sped walked as fast as she could to put space between them, but he had a longer stride.
“I took it down,” he said, trying to gain her attention, “I did, but I don’t regret it.”
Natalie froze. She gave a short sarcastic snort as she slowly turned towards him.
Her lips formed a thin line as she took a step closer to him.
“You don’t regret it?” her voice was hushed as she tried to hold herself back.
“Something had to be done. The Black Hood needed to know that we won’t cower. That we will fight him,” Archie defended, his voice growing louder with each word.
Natalie shoved him. Her features contorted in pure fury.  “Are you listening to yourself? Are you trying to get yourself killed? Archie, How can you even d-”
“Dad was shot!” he screams.
Natalie stiffens. Anger and fear swirl around her. She wants to shove him. She wants to cry. She wants to scream. Yet she stays silent, keeping everything but anger locked away. Anger, fury, rage, those were what made up her shield as her brother stood shouting at her in the street.
“He was shot, Natalie! I am not going to just sit by while the man who almost killed our dad is still out there on the loose, causing more chaos,” he towered over her.
Natalie’s lips formed into a thin line as she glared up at her brother. Her fury almost tangible on her tongue.
Her lips curled. Her short frame shook as she fought to keep control of herself.
“Yet you make him, you, even me a target. You goad him- that psychopath on,” her voice low as she glared up at him.
“Do you know what I think, Archibald?” she spat. His nose flared at the sound of his full name, spurring the brunette on. “You’re too weak to admit that you’re just as scared. It’s no secret that you stay up guarding the door, but have you ever asked about me? I have nightmares almost every night. Some nights, it’s dad that dies. Some nights, it’s you. Each time I have to reassure myself that it was just a dream, but then you go and post that stupid fucking video. Now I-”
Natalie stops herself. She didn’t want to continue. She didn’t want to conjure up the images.
Archie pulls her into his arm, patting her back like they were kids. That’s when she felt the tears that were dripping from her face. She hadn’t noticed them fall.
Immediately, she pushed his arms away and wiped at her face. No tears. No crying. Be strong.
“Nat, I know-”
She shook her head, cutting him off, “No, you don’t.” Her eyes burned into his, not letting him speak as she pushed on, “I was terrified when Pop called saying that Dad was hurt. But you, you and your ‘Red Circle’ it’s nothing more than a target, a target on you, a target on me, but most of all a target on dad.”
The brunette shoved her brother again and stalked off towards the school. She dragged the rough sleeve of her jean jacket against her face, hoping that no one would notice her flushed cheeks.
Each time someone approached her about the Red Circle video, Natalie answered with a scoff and a roll of the eyes. She was ready for the whole thing to blow over.
Her only solitude from the bombardment of questions from her fellow students was in the presence of her twin and their mutual friends at lunch. The very mention of the video caused the girl to tense up.
Natalie tried to keep her attention on Kevin and Betty for the duration of lunch. Kevin updated her and Betty on his search for love, or at least a decent hook up, on the internet. He had some exchanges, but nothing that seemed date-worthy.
He showed a photo of someone that look their age and went by the name Blake. He was tanned and appeared to be lean, but built. Reading some of the flirty exchanges to her and Betty, he seemed excited to meet him tonight for, what he hoped to be, a steamy rendezvous.
Natalie glanced at Betty. Normally she was thrilled to hear about Kevin’s love life, but she seemed just as distracted as the rest of the table.
When the bell rang to signal lunch was over, she placed a hand on the blonde’s shoulder. Betty’s pale eyes met her own anxiously.
“Is everything alright, Betty? You seem… distracted?” she quietly prodded.
“Yeah, Nat. Everything is fine,” she smiled, “I got to get to class. I’ll talk to you later.”
The blonde quickly left, leaving Natalie confused. She and Betty were not best friends, but they had known each other most of their lives. The two had grown closer working with everyone over the Jason Blossom case, but here she was, watching Betty keep something hidden.
She didn’t know what it was, but the youngest Cooper had always been easy to read.
With a sigh, Natalie threw out the remainders of her lunch. She wasn’t going to pry. If Betty wanted her to know, then she would tell her. Still, she had thought the had grown close enough that they could share their problems, but Natalie was wrong. Betty held back whatever was going on, and she held back about her interactions with a certain Serpent.
Kevin hovered by the doors.
“You didn’t say anything about Sweet Pea,” the lilt marking the question.
“Uh, yeah,” she played with tips of her hair, “We sort of have a date Wednesday night.” She nervously smiled at Kevin, who gasped.
“Spill, now,” he demanded as he pulled her towards their next class. Natalie kept her voice shushed as she quickly filled him on her encounter outside of Jughead’s trailer.
After classes ended, Natalie made her way to the gym’s locker rooms. Football season should still be underway. However, an uncertainty lingered as the football teamed was dismissed by Principal Weatherbee until the Red Circle was disbanded.
While competition season still lurked in the shadow for most, Cheryl and Natalie knew the team still had a ways to go before they were ready. Therefore, Vixen practice would still continue, taking advantage of the uncertainty.
Natalie tied up her long dark hair into a ponytail. As she changed into the Vixen’s practice uniform, she saw Betty and Veronica enter, their heads bent towards each other as they spoke in whispers. She gave them a quick smile that the two didn’t seem to notice before a voice cut through her thoughts.
“Look who’s fallen to the outer circle,” a smug smile clear in Cheryl’s voice.
“Look who’s acting like they haven’t always been on the outside,” Natalie snapped back. The flare in the redhead’s eyes caused Natalie to bite her tongue. Shit. It was going to be a rough day for the two.
She knew Cheryl was right. With Natalie and Archie’s recent fighting and Jughead now at Southside High, she was starting to feel isolated. She had Kevin, but she couldn’t cling to him all the time. She and Veronica had never been close. Even Betty seemed to be hiding something.
Natalie laced up her sneakers and readjusted their blue pom poms before heading out into the gym to stretch. She would not let the Blossom rattle her. She needed all of her focus today. The team needed to work on their tumbling and she would have to be the one demonstrating, since Cheryl refused to break a sweat for something she expected the others to already know.
The hour and a half sped by and the two captains were better able to evaluate who could handle the tumbling choreography. If it wasn’t for the Black Hood, then the Vixens would have had to stay longer to cover the routines as well. Fortunately for the girls, neither captain wanted to stay until after dusk, so with a wave of her hand, Cheryl dismissed the girls.
Natalie exhaled a loud groan. Even when she got home, the drama of Archie’s video was still haunted her. Veronica had messaged the River Vixen group chat that evening about her plans for the next school day.
Natalie muted the group, ignoring the girls’ collaboration on some even of support tomorrow. The only good thing Natalie could see happening, if Veronica’s plan went accordingly, is the target on her brother would be smaller. At least, that’s what she hoped.
When her phone buzzed, she thought maybe she hadn’t properly muted the messages. Instead, Sweet Pea’s name was plastered at the top.
Sweet Pea: Hey princess, still too busy to message?
Natalie face split with her smile. She flopped onto her stomach, typing back to him.
Natalie: Giraffe :) I might be able to spare a moment or two
Sweet Pea: Good. Tell me, anything interesting happen today?
Natalie: Mmm. My brother did something stupid and now I’m dealing with the backlash. You?
Sweet Pea: It couldn’t be as bad as that crazy-ass video. If someone hadn’t said no tonight, I bet I would have made your night worth it ;)
Natalie chewed her lip at the first part of his message. She hardly knew the guy. Did she say it was her brother in that video?
Natalie: Haha, you’d be surprised. Oh yeah? What makes you so sure?
Sweet Pea: You’ll just have to wait until Wednesday to find out
Natalie buried her face in her pillow. Her heart quickened in anticipation for their date, making it hard for her to fall asleep.
The next day, she found her face being blocked by a pile of shirts from the town’s New York Diva.
“No, Veronica. There was a reason why I didn’t respond to any of that nonsense yesterday,” Natalie tried moving past her, but the hall was cramped with more Vixens and shirts.
“There’s strength in numbers. Don’t you want to support your brother?” she questioned with a quirked brow.
“Not when he’s being an idiot,” she shook her head and moved down the hall past the rest of the River Vixen squad. Archie was her brother and she would do anything for him. She would fight anyone who would try to hurt him, but he was the one putting himself in harm's way. She couldn’t do anything to stop him; she could only let him figure it out on his own.
Natalie could hear Veronica still calling out her name as she tried to speed away.
When she got to her locker with Veronica still on her heels, Kevin was waiting there, scrolling through his phone.
“Any more cuties?” she asked, wondering if the Red State Meat had hooked him any new fish.
He only rolled his eyes, “No one for you, besides you have your own now.”
“Aww, come on. You can’t keep them all to yourself, and he is not mine. We haven’t even gone out on a date yet,” she knocked her shoulder into his. Earning an annoyed expression from her best friends.
“What’s this about a date?” the raven-haired girl asked. Natalie quietly sighed.
“Just someone I’ve been talking to. I haven’t told Archie I even have a date, since we haven’t spoken much since the video,” Natalie considered the girl, still holding the propaganda shirts. It was vague enough that neither her or Archie would piece together who it was.
She didn’t want to jinx anything with Sweet Pea, let alone deal with her brother’s hate for the Serpents before she had a chance to see if anything would even become of the date.
“Does this mystery boy have a name?” Veronica lifted her eyebrows suggestively.
Natalie chuckled nervously. She knew whatever she told Veronica would get back to both Archie and Betty.
“He does, but I don’t want to start rumors before anything good has happened,” she settles on. It was enough to satisfy the socialite, who wished her good luck on her date before leaving Natalie nad Kevin alone.
“I’m going to head to the Blue and Gold room in a minute to meet up with Betty. I still have to talk to her about telling my dad, but I also had some ideas to share. Did you want to come with?” he asked.
“I already sent her the new photos for this week’s issue, so I’ll pass. But I will see you at lunch. And you will tell me all about your meet up with Blake,” she playfully smiled as he left.
Natalie awoke Wednesday morning with a sense of excitement. She tossed her hair into a bun and threw on the first clothes that she came across, knowing that she would spend more time getting ready for her dinner with Sweet Pea tonight.
“Don’t forget tonight I’m going to the town hall meeting,” her dad reminded the twins as she cleared off the scraps from breakfast.
“Kevin and I have plans for tonight,” she noticed her dad opening his mouth, “He is picking me up. I’m not walking anywhere alone.”
Fred nodded, “Just be safe.”
Natalie nodded. Her gut twisted at the small lie, but she didn’t want to get bombarded with questions about her date, or even worse they both stick around to bombarded Sweet Pea with questions. In Archie’s case, more likely accusations.
As the two siblings silently made their way towards the school, Natalie’s stomach fluttered thinking about tonight’s date.
She could hardly pay attention through her first classes as she happily doodled in the margins of her notes. She wanted tonight to go well. Her thoughts flickered from excitement to worry that she would make an embarrassment of herself.
As she moved to her next class, she slid into the seat beside Kevin. He had a knowing smile on his face.
“I expect you to call me when you get home tonight,” his tone warning.
Natalie rolled her eyes, knowing that she would tell him everything the second she was back home. The class continued on, but she felt the distinct vibration from her phone.
She waited until the teacher turned to write something on the board before sneaking it out.
Sweet Pea: I gotta cancel. Something came up.
“What’s wrong?” Kevin whispered, noticing her sudden crestfallen face.
Natalie tilted the screen towards him.
His eyes quickly scanned the message, frowning.
“I’m sorry, Nat,” his glanced up to check that the teacher was still turned away.
Kevin fiddled with his pen, watching Natalie struggle to find a way to respond to the text.
“You know what? I am not letting that new outfit go to waste. I am picking you up at eight for Pop’s. I’ll be your escort.”
Natalie felt her lips lift in something resembling a smile. She was still disappointed that Sweet Pea had canceled, but at least she had Kevin, someone she always knew she could count on.
“Sounds great,” she agreed.
The rest of the day passed slowly for Natalie. Each class seemed to drag on as the teachers droned. She tried to distract herself with the latest gossip, but it all seemed to go in one ear and out the other. The only good thing to look forward to was her night with Kevin, which wasn’t that special as the pair often spent time together.
She didn’t hear from Sweet Pea for the rest of the day, which only served to worsen her mood.
“You’re going to give yourself wrinkles if you keep that up,” Cheryl chimed, leaning against the locker beside Natalie.
“I know Archie getting banned from campus isn’t-”
“He what?” Natalie cut her off.
“You didn’t know? It’s all over the school. What rock are you hiding under?” Cheryl gave Natalie a disbelieving look.
Natalie starred, her mouth agape. She couldn’t understand what was going on with Archie. The Red Circle, the video, now suspension - it was beginning to become too much.
Cheryl patted her arm, leaving the girl to think. Really, what Natalie wanted was to not think, to just have a night out away from everything that was going. If it wasn’t going to be with Sweet Pea, then she was glad to have Kevin.
When it was around six, she began to get ready for ‘date.’
Natalie was going to make sure she looked stunning. The very thought of Sweet Pea missing out on it brought her some comfort.
The brunette hooked her phone up to a speaker as she played music, taking her time to get ready.
Since she had the outfit ready, she spent most of her time perfecting her purple smokey eye and winged eyeliner. She paired it with a nude lipstick before taming her curls. Natalie slide on her pre-planned outfit: a fitted black lace top with a bright purple skirt on.
When she was finished, she shut off her music and slipped on her heels. The room filled with silence. In the background, she could hear her brother’s muffled shouts. What was going on? Their dad left a while ago for the town meeting, so who was he fighting with?
Cautiously, Natalie followed the sounds of the voices. As she neared the bottom of the staircase, she relaxed. It was Veronica.
“- an idiot. I’m trying to support you by designing T-shirts.”
“I didn’t ask you to do that,” Archie countered. The two were in such a heated argument, that neither one had noticed the sound of Natalie’s heels as she stood in the archway of the living room.
“No, you just asked me to fetch your loaded gun. And by the way, in case you’re wondering where it is, I threw it in Sweetwater River.” Natalie’s pursed her lips into a thin line. Gun? Where did Archie get a gun from?
“What?” her brother asked. Archie’s gaze flickered to Natalie, finally noticing her. His eyes widened, unsure how much his sister had heard of the conversation.
“And you can be mad at me now, but you’ll thank me for it later.”
“I’ll thank you right now,” she smiled sharply at Veronica, who spun to look at her. “After all, neither one of us needs him to stir up any more trouble.” Her eyes narrowing at the redhead.
A knock on the door jarred them from their conversation. With a glance at the door, Natalie looked over to see Reggie’s smile through the window. Her brother and his girlfriend came up behind her as Natalie opened the door.
“Can we come in?”
She moved aside, ignoring the way Reggie’s eyes lingered on her exposed legs.
“Looking good, Nat,” he smirked. She rolled her eyes as he set the pizzas down on the coffee table. Not caring much about what the boy had to say, she lifted a box and stole a pepperoni.
“Well, Kevin is picking me up soon. I’m going to wait outside and leave you to figure your stuff out,” she told them as she popping the meat into her mouth. She tried her best to act as if nothing had just happened. She didn’t want the football team to know about the gun. It would only make things worse.
Natalie waved before slamming the door behind her. The air was thick with humidity as she headed for the edge of the sidewalk. She debated on going back for an umbrella, but her phone chimed, distracting her.
Kevin: Just a couple minutes away
The roar of the motorcycles heading down her street caused the brunette to follow the oncoming noise. When they stopped in front of her house, she didn’t have a clue what was going on. None of the boys were Jughead. Why would they be at her house?
The four leather-clad boys dismounted from their bikes.
“Can I help you?” Natalie called out. Instantly, her eyes fell on the one leading the group. Sweet Pea’s eyes moved to the hem of her skirt, up to where he cleavage peaked out, then finally up to her eyes. His gaze heated.
“Skyscraper, I thought you canceled,” she raised her brow, looking at the other three guys behind him.
“I did,” the corner of his mouth twisting in a frown as he looked between her and the house, “Did you have another date I didn’t know about?”
“Maybe,” she playfully smirked at him. He didn’t seem amused by her teasing. As if on cue, Kevin pulled up in his dad’s truck.
One of the other boys stepped up, pulling her attention away.
“We are looking for Andrews,” he snapped. Natalie pursed her lips at the interruption from the stranger.
“Yeah?” she asked, unsure what he was referring to. Her eyes trailed back to Sweet Pea to see if he would clarify why he and three other Serpents were doing in her yard.
His brows were furrowed as he looked you over. His face, initially confused, seemed to realize something. His eyes grew cold as his lips thinned out.
“Archie Andrews,” Sweet Pea stated, his tone suddenly clipped.
“What did he do now?” she sighed as she looked over her shoulder to see Veronica peeking through the panels on the top of the front door.
“You know him?” the curly-haired boy who had interrupted her early asked.
“Yeah? He’s my brother,” she made a face at him. She thought that if they were here looking for him and knew where he lived, then they would know that she was his twin.
Sweet Pea’s face was grim as he looked away from the wavy haired girl. None of the other leather-clad boys spoke. The silence was heavy. Natalie kept her eyes trained on Sweet Pea’s until he would look at her.
When he finally did, his lips curved into a sneer.
“Have fun on that date, Northsider,” his voice dripping with malice as he pushed past the small girl.
Natalie turned in confusion as the boys pounded up her porch steps.
“What the hell?” she sputtered, but he kept moving towards her front door. She dragged a hand through her hair, feeling her rage at the Serpent bubbly in her stomach.
The front door swung open to the Serpents and she could practically smell the testosterone from the edge of her lawn.
“Let’s get out of here,” she snapped at Kevin as she slammed the truck door shut.
“What’s that about?” Kevin leaned around Natalie to stare at the lettermans and leather on her front porch.
“I don’t know and don’t care. Let’s get out of her,” she repeated, her tone calloused.

My father had gotten arrested and now my Mother and I were moving to his hometown, including his ex-wife and my half sister. We weren’t going to be living in the same apartment, but we would be in the same building. We were moving into The Pembroke and it was probably the nicest thing in this town.
“Why couldn’t we just stay in New York?” I asked.
“We’re here till things cool down.” My Mother said.
“Right…” I sighed.
We each went to our separate apartments, ours being bigger than Hermione and Veronica’s. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my half sister, she’s like my best friend, but I still enjoy being better than her. Once I finished unpacking my things and got my room sorted I walked out to see my Mother just getting off the phone.
“Hello dear, would you bring this back to Hermione? She ordered from a small diner that she said was to die for. I ordered for you already and you and Veronica are going to go pick it up.” She said and I sighed slightly.
“Fine.” I said and grabbed the phone from her. I took it over their apartment. Veronica answered the door and smiled at me.
“Oh, thank you. I see you’re ready to go.” She said with a smile.
“Let me just grab my coat.” I said and went to go get it.
“Ready.” I said and we went out to the car. When the car stopped it was in front of a small diner called Pop’s Chock’Lit Shoppe.
“We’ll be right back.” Veronica said as we got out. We walked inside and I noticed someone staring at us. Veronica pulled me along, near the table of the guy staring at us.
“I called in an order, for Lodge?” Veronica asked the man working.
“Four burgers, yeah, almost ready, but you gotta wait.” He said with a kind smile and walked behind the counter.
“Hi.” Veronica said to the two that were sitting in the booth we were standing in front of.
“Hey.” The guy that was staring, smiling at us.
“How are the onion rings here?” I asked.
“So good.” He answered.
“Can we get some onion rings too, please?” I asked.
“Yeah!” The man working said.
“Thanks. We just moved here with our Moms, so…” Veronica said.
“From where?” The guy asked.
“New York.” I answered with a smile.
“Wow.” The guy said.
“Do you guys go to Riverdale?” I asked.
“We do. Both of us. Together.”
“Yeah, we’re sophomores.” The guy and girl said at the same time.
“Us too.” Veronica said.
“I’m filled with dread.” I said.
“Why is that?” The guy asked.
“Are you familiar with the works of Truman Capote?” I asked and he nodded.
“I’m Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but this place is strictly In Cold Blood.” I said and he laughed while I giggled.
“Angelina Lodge.” I introduced myself.
“This is my half sister, Veronica Lodge.” I said as I shook the guys hand.
“Archie Andrews.” He said with a smile.
“Uh, this is Betty Cooper.” He said as he introduced the girl.
“Wait, are you…” Veronica trailed off.
“Supposed to give you your tour tomorrow? Yes. I’m your peer mentor.” Betty finished.
“Do you want to join us?” Archie asked.
“Hey, maybe we can un-fill you with dread.” He added.
“Our Mom’s are waiting for us.” Veronica said.
“But, to be continued.” I said with a flirty smile. Veronica pulled me away and we grabbed the food. We went back to the car and we were on the way home.
“He was pretty cute, what do you think?” I asked.
“For a small little town, yeah, he’s cute.” Veronica agreed.
“Now I’m very excited about school tomorrow.” I said and she rolled her eyes.
School was interesting for the week. Veronica and I joined the cheer team and she became pretty good friends with Betty. I on the other hands didn’t really find anyone that really interested me besides Archie. He wasn’t my usual type, but why not try something new? So when the dance came and Veronica, Betty, and I went with Archie. Veronica was trying hard to get Betty and Archie together, but it didn’t work out. So now we were going to an after party at the Blossom’s house. It was a lot more fun than the actual dance was.
“It’s game time at Chez Blossom, kiddies.” Cheryl Blossom said as she gathered a bunch of people up.
“We’re going old-school tonight. Seven minutes in Heaven. Who wants to tryst in the closet of love first?” She asked.
“My vote is A for Archie. Anyone care to second it?” She asked.
“Wait, actually-”
“Yes, Andrews! Yes!” Reggie said, cutting Archie off.
“Alright, gather round, kids.” Cheryl said.
“Let’s see who’s riding the ginger stallion tonight.” She said as she placed a bottle on the table and spun. I sat next to my sister and hoped with baited breath that I would get to be the one in the closet with Archie. It landed in between Veronica and Betty.
“Oh no way!” Reggie said and I rolled my eyes.
“It’s clearly pointing to... new girl, Veronica. This should be fun.” Cheryl said.
“Um… I’m not doing this.” Veronica said.
“That’s up to you. But if you don’t, house rules decree the hostess gets to take your turn.” Cheryl said with a smirk. My sister got up and went into the closet with Archie. I narrowed my eyes at the door.
“I’m out of here.” I said and left quickly. How dare she!
“Angelina, what are you doing home so early?” My Mother asked.
“My bitch of a sister ruined my night.” I grumbled.
“Watch your language! What do you mean she ruined your night?” She asked.
“There’s a boy here that I told her I had my eye on and she went and tried to get him with another girl and then kissed him!” I said and she sighed.
“So high school drama.” She said and I narrowed my eyes.
“I’m going to my room.” I said and stormed off.
A little later Veronica came into my room and I immediately threw a pillow at her.
“Get out!” I growled.
“You’re not honestly upset that I kissed him, are you?” She asked and I narrowed my eyes.
“I told you when we first saw him that I thought he was cute, you should know that means I have my eyes on him!” I said and she rolled her eyes.
“Please, he’s not even your type.” She said.
“Seriously? Just get over it.” She said and I glared at her.
“I told you I liked him and one, you go and try and get him with another girl, then two, you kiss him!” I said.
“I’m sorry Angie, but I can’t help that I like him too.” She said and I rolled my eyes.
“Get. Out.” I growled and she sighed.
“Fine, whatever.” She said and left.
A few weeks later and I was the one dating Archie Andrews. Veronica was jealous, especially since I was rubbing it in her face. She always got the guy and this time it was my turn. As our relationship went on I realized he really wasn’t my type. My type was definitely someone more like Jughead, the bad boy type style. Archie actually got jealous about me hanging out with Jughead more. I was bringing out my normal style, lots of black and bad girl looking clothes. Something my Mother and Father hated. They’d rather I dress more like Veronica does, but that just isn’t me. When the year was ending I broke it off with Archie. We just weren’t end game and I didn’t want to waste my time anymore. Jughead understood where I was coming from, but he was the only one. However when I was coming home after the breakup, I walked in to see my Father sitting at the end of the table.
“Daddy!” I said and ran over to him.
“Hello Princess.” He said as I hugged him and he kissed my head.
“You’re back! So we can go home right?” I asked and he shook his head.
“I have plans here, so we’re staying.” He answered and I frowned a little.
“What’s wrong?” He asked.
“I just broke up with my boyfriend and I do not want to stay here anymore.” I said and he sighed.
“Sorry Princess, we need to stay here a bit longer.” He said and I sighed.
“Alright Daddy.” I said.
Weeks went by and Jughead and I were definitely spending more on the Southside, something my parents hated. They especially hated when I joined the Serpents. That night was amazing. It was the night I met Sweet Pea. It was at Jughead’s Father’s retirement party and I was about to become a Serpent. Before I left the house with Veronica I put on the perfect lingerie under my black dress that my parents allowed me to wear out of the house.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A bit into the party Jughead nodded me towards the back of the stage. He walked over to Hogeye and told him that it was time. I undressed and left my heels on, ready to do this dance and have every guy looking at me. Even though I didn’t have feelings for Archie and he was dating my sister now, it would be so fun to see his face during this.
“We’ve got something special tonight, we’re gonna be welcoming a new member to the Serpents. Everyone, give it up for Angelina!” I heard Hogeye announce and people started clapping. The song Lil Freak started playing and I walked out on the stage with a sexy strut. My eyes scanned the room and I saw Archie looking at me with his jaw dropped. I smirked and walked up to the pole and worked it like it was my job. As I continued scanning the room I saw a tall tan Serpent boy with a sexy Serpent tattoo on his neck.
When the song ended I got my jacket and I walked to the back to get dressed again. I met Jughead outside the door and he smiled.
“How does it feel being a Serpent now?” He asked and I smirked.
“Like I’m finally my own person and not Daddy’s little girl.” I answered and he chuckled.
“Well, you got a fan.” He said and I raised my brow.
“Come, I’ll introduce you.” He said.
“Angelina, this is Sweet Pea, Sweet Pea, this is Angelina Lodge.” Jughead said and I smiled as I saw the tall tan boy.
“Pleasure to meet you.” I said offering him my hand.
“You were amazing up there.” He said and I smirked.
“Thanks for noticing.” I said and he smirked in return.
“Angelina! What the hell was that!?” Veronica asked, completely ruining the moment.
“I’m a Serpent, that’s what that was.” I answered with a roll of my eyes.
“Clearly… Daddy and Dove are going to be pissed.” She said and I scoffed.
“Like you care, now if you excuse me, I’m talking with a very attractive guy.” I said and turned back to Sweet Pea.
“Let’s get you a drink.” He said and led me off to the bar.
That was how our relationship started. That was also how I lost the title of Daddy’s little girl. My Father hated that I joined a gang and that I was dating someone from it. My Mother didn’t care as much since she was happy that I was happy. Angelina Lodge was no longer going to let other people run her life, no, I was taking my life into my own hands now!

Part 5
Request: Yes or No
If anyone with schizophrenia feels offended or wants to inform me on it, please feel free to message me and I'll fix whatever needs to be fixed. Please remember that I don't have schizophrenia so I can only learn from the people who do. Also, please be mindful of the fact that I'm not saying all wards are bad, some are good while others aren't, it really depends on you and how you view your experience.
(Y/N) stepped out of his house, saying bye to Kurtz. He heard a beep and turned his head, looking at Malachai's precious car.
"I'll drive you." He called. (Y/N) sighed, approaching the car and getting in.
"People are gonna think that we're dating." (Y/N) mumbled.
"So? We already have a son together. How is he?" Malachai grinned, glancing at him as he drove off.
"Kurtz is fine. Really clingy.."
"He gets that from me." Malachai chuckled as (Y/N) rolled his eyes.
"I can see that now." (Y/N) glanced out the window.
"Don't you have gang leader stuff to do?" He asked.
"What? I can't spend time with my favourite Northsider?" Malachai cocked a brow. (Y/N) chose not to respond. He unbuckled his seatbelt once they got to the school and (Y/N) got out.
"Have a nice day, sweetie!" Malachai called, using a feminine voice. (Y/N) flipped him off, closing the door. He heard Malachai crack up. He noticed some Serpents watching him with surprise and curiosity. (Y/N) ignored them, heading inside. The bell rang soon after and (Y/N) entered his first period. He sat down, waiting for class to start.
"How do you know Malachai?" (Y/N) blinked, looking at Fangs.
"What?"
"How do you know Malachai?" Fangs repeated. (Y/N) shrugged.
"He's my friend." He mumbled. Fangs raised his brows.
"With a gang leader? He's an adult!"
"I'm 18." (Y/N) informed, rolling his eyes.
"It's not like that. We're friends." Fangs frowned, sighing softly.
"Just... Be careful." Fangs took out his notebook as the teacher stood.
"So, how was everyone's weekend?" Betty asked, earning some simple responses like 'fine' or 'good'.
"Probably not as interesting as (Y/N)s.." Sweet Pea said. Toni and Fangs shot him a look.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Archie asked.
"Is there a problem here, Sweet Pea?" Reggie asked afterwards. Sweet Pea glared at them both and an argument broke out. (Y/N) glanced at the students who were neither Serpents or friends with the Scoody Doo gang. They awkwardly watched the agrument. (Y/N) pinched the bridge of his nose as the voices decided to join in on the argument. He was starting to get annoyed.
"Can you shut up?" He mumbled. They clearly didn't hear him. (Y/N) grunted and cleared his throat.
"Shut the fuck up!" The argument abruptly ended.
"And sit down." (Y/N) huffed. The ones who were standing quickly sat.
"What the fuck is your problem?" (Y/N) asked, looking at Sweet Pea.
"You were hanging out with Malachai of all people. He's the Ghoulie King!"
"And Jughead's the Serpent King but you don't see Kevin complaining about Archie being friends with him." (Y/N) said, motioning to the three boys.
"He's dangerous, (N/N)." Veronica piped up.
"We're all a little dangerous." (Y/N) replied. Everyone in the room had been deemed dangerous at one point whether because of their illness, social status, or a family member was a psycho.
"I get why your mad... The Ghoulies are your arch enemies and the villains in your story but do you need to be reminded that you were once the villains here at Riverdale High?" (Y/N) crossed his arms. Sweet Pea frowned, glancing at the other Serpents. The room became silent. Maybe they were a little judgy. (Y/N) looked at his phone.
'I'm outside, Sweetie'
He rolled his eyes at Malachai's text. He stood up.
"My ride's here." He informed before leaving the classroom and walking down the hall. He heard the squeaking of sneakers and turned his head, looking at Jughead. (Y/N) didn't say anything as he stepped outside with him and walked over to Malachai.
"Hi honey, how was school?" Malachai cooed playfully. (Y/N) gently shoved him and got into the car. He heard the word 'truce' before spacing out. (Y/N) wondered what the group were saying about him.
'They all hate you.'
"No, they don't." (Y/N) mumbled. Betty didn't hate him and Fangs seemed to care about him. Malachai got into the car and gave a small smile before driving away from the school.
"So? What'd you talk about?" (Y/N) asked.
"Oh, nothing sweetie. You just really need to get those grades up in Math. Other than-" (Y/N) gently punched his arm. Malachai chuckled.
"He wants a truce and you are the centerpiece." (Y/N) furrowed his brows.
"Centerpiece?"
"Nobody can hurt you. If anyone from either of our gang does, the truce will be over.. And if anyone outside of the gangs does... We might kill them." Malachai explained. (Y/N) blinked. Him? Him?
"Why? Couldn't.... Betty or Fangs be the centerpiece?"
"I don't give a shit about the blonde bitch and the other kid." Malachai replied, amused. (Y/N) stared at him.
"You care about me?"
"Obviously." Malachai glanced at him. (Y/N) hummed, looking forward.
"I care about you too." He mumbled. If only he knew how happy that made the curly haired male beside him. (Y/N) got out of the car once Malachai pulled up to his house. He said a quick bye and headed onto the porch, grabbing the door handle only to reel back when it shocked him.
(Y/N) glared up at the spinning lights. He mind was a mess and the voices slurred. (Y/N) looked at the doctor when he appeared in his view. A look of distaste passed over the doctors face. (Y/N) screamed into the gag when he felt the electricity go through him. He hated that they still used that kind of therapy. (Y/N) felt a headache set in and let out a muffled whimper.
(Y/N) blinked, staring at the handle. He heard Malachai's distant voice as his heart sped up. What else happened at the psych ward? Why couldn't he remember? Did the shock therapy give him amnesia? (Y/N) felt arms wrap around him, keeping him up when his legs gave out.
"N)? (Y/N)!" Malachai snapped his fingers in front of his face. (Y/N) felt hot tears streaming down his face.
"I can't remember.." He whispered.
"Can't remember what?" Malachai asked.
"The psych ward... They..." Thinking about it gave him a headache. Remembering the shock therapy left a bad taste in his mouth.
"They used shock therapy.. I didn't need it... At least, I think I didn't need it.. I don't... I can't remember."
(Y/N) watched the painting, wondering if it was moving or not. He often forgot where he was but the pain in his jaw and his mushed up mess of a brain reminded him that he was in hell. (Y/N) raised his arm, staring at the scars. He furrowed his brows. How did he- Oh. Right. (Y/N) sighed. He was getting worse. (Y/N) looked at the nurse and doctor when they entered, the shadows growing and grinning.
'They're gonna kill you.' The voices laughed. (Y/N) let out a shakey breath.
(Y/N) looked around, suddenly finding himself on the couch. Kurtz mewed at him, concerned. Malachai rubbed gentle circles on his back, gaze hard and unreadable. (Y/N) gently picked up Kurtz, cuddling into the warmth that the kitten gave him. (Y/N) wanted to remember but his mind was blank. No thoughts, no voices, no feelings. Just blank. He hated it.

This Better Work Part 7
Sweet Pea X OC
Summery; Hey guys, not sure how well this is going to go but I originally put it on Wattpad so its way long, but hopefully its not horrendous. Let me know what you think! So, it follows the story line kind of, it’s not exact but I have tried and it follows my OC Ali as she navigates through the hell that is Riverdale. Whilst struggling with financial, social and romantic difficulties, she has the added pressure of keeping up with school work and bonus of being thrown into the frightening world of the criminal underground.
Side Note; None of the gifs or pictures I use are mine, I’m not talented or smart enough to even begin an attempt at making my own. Thank you to those who have such abilities and if you don’t want me using them then please let me know so I can remove them for you.
Word Count;
"Hey Ali! Ali Cat! Why the hell are you siding with the Southside scumbags?" Reggie bellowed down the corridor at Ali as she threw her unneeded Chemistry and Geography books in her locker.
"Really Reggie?" She questioned sternly, slamming her locker and spinning to face the jumped-up Bulldog. Being met by the whole squad, her arms folded as her eyebrows raised in amusement.
"Are you serious? You got the whole damn squad out just to confront me about a HOODIE? A FUCKING HOODIE REGINALD? I'm not taking anyone’s side. I'm just trying to keep the peace. Something you clearly aren't capable of!" Ali bellowed. How dare he challenge me!
"You need to get your affairs in order and get your head out of your arse, IT'S NOT A HAT!" Ali warned before slamming past him cutting through the see of Jocks.
"I'm not the one wearing their clothes. That hoodie warm is it? Looks more like a snake skin if you ask me." He spat stopping Ali dead in her tracks. Her bag dropping to the ground as the last string of her temper snapped. She spun quickly on her heels storming back down the corridor towards Reggie. Her hand reached out grabbing his throat. Slamming him against the lockers.
"Yes. Its very warm. But so is the River Vixens t-shirt underneath." Ali growled through gritted teeth. Her faces inches from his.
"I live on the border so I'm neither one nor the other. I'm Both! Remember that before you open your mouth next time." Ali snarled. Her fingers curling round Reggies throat increasing the fear and disgust in his eyes.
However, this didn't last long. A pair of strong arms wrapped around Ali's waist heaving her up and pulling her away from Reggie.
"Settle down Ali Cat you nearly got yourself expelled." Jughead cautioned as he placed her on one of the sofas in the common room. All eyes on her. Betty and Toni arrived seconds later carrying Ali's bag.
"Damn girl that was bad ass!" Toni exclaimed with an impressed smirk as she slumped besides Ali on the sofa. Ignoring the warning glare Jughead shot her.
“Don’t encourage her.” Jughead groaned.

"I leave you alone for one minute and THIS is what you do?" Ali smirked handing Sweet Pea a beer before kneeling beside him to look at the boiler he had just stripped. He looked over at her with a boyish grin plastered across his face, before taking a large swig of his drink. Turning back to the boiler pieces scattered in front of them.
"I had to see what was broken. I know where it all goes. I'm not an idiot!" Sweet Pea replied nonchalantly, a cocky twinkle in his eyes.
"Besides who are you to judge me? I'm not the one that nearly got myself kicked out for standing up for a bunch of actual gang members." He smirked shoving Ali's arm lightly. He loved spending the weekends helping her around the garage and fixing up her old run-down house. She made him laugh and he swore whenever he was around her, he felt as if his luck would change forever. But that was him. He knew there was no way she would feel the same way. They were friends. End of.
"You too good to say gangsters now?" Ali teased, her usually bright smile was brighter than ever and this time, it was real.
"You know you've taken this apart only to find the whole damn thing needs replacing. Right?" She asked after a moments glance over the corroded parts.
"Yeah I know." Sweet Pea sighed. Knowing full well that this meant Ali and her family going without heating.
"I'll think of something Ali Cat. Hey if worse comes to worst my caravan is always warm and I have room for three more." He smiled sympathetically. His words making Ali chuckle for a moment before she fell silent. Her eyes trained on the parts in front of her as if they would run away if she blinked.
"Hey, Princess. It's going to be ok." Sweet Pea soothed, turning Ali's face to look directly at him.
Her eyes welled with tears. For the first time ever, her guard was down. Her walls had fallen. There was no longer the endless reals of hope and joy that once resided in her eyes. Her bright, contagious smile had faded and all that was left was the fear and misery she had always hidden so well. Sweet Pea's heart broke at the sight of her feeling so vulnerable. Before he knew it he had wrapped her up in an enormous, warm bear hug. His chin resting on top of her head. His hand wrapped in her hair whilst the other pulled her deeper into the hug. He could feel the tears soaking through his t-shirt and onto his skin. They sat there for a moment. But when Ali pulled away her bright shining smile was back, her eyes filled with false happiness as she looked up at him.
"With all do respect Sweet Pea. You barely fit in that caravan. How would we ever fit around your giant ass." She replied, the thick sassy sarcasm flooding her voice like nothing had happened. Ali felt a rogue tear fall down her rosy cheek. Swiping it away with her finger tips, staring at it a moment before flicking it away.
"Ugh gross I'm leaking. Think its time for my M.O.T." She complained.
"Want a cup of tea?" She offered making her way to the kitchen before Sweet Pea had a chance to reply.
Good job Ali. Cry in front of everyone like a fucking wimp. Good one dick head. Ali scolded herself, pottering around the kitchen for Tea and mugs.
"You know you don't have to be like that Ali. It's ok to cry." Sweet Pea soothed from the doorway.
"Why because I'm a girl? Because that's what girls do? I have nothing to be sad about. I have a roof over my head, amazing friends, a loving family and I'm a jack of all trades." Ali snapped. Who was he to say she was allowed to cry?
"My tears are pointless and selfish. There are people in the world with far less than me so why should I allow myself to cry?" She continued, her words taking Sweet Pea back a step.
"Ali I was just trying to help. No one, male or female should have to be an emotionless robot. Its ok to feel." He reasoned, trying to defuse the situation.
"So, NOW I’m an emotionless robot. Oh gee thanks Sweet Pea. I feel much better now!" Ali thundered, her eyes flooding with red mist as she glared aggressively at Sweet Pea.
"You should go." She growled.
"I was just trying to help! You were sad so I tried to comfort you! How am I the bad guy?" Sweet Pea retaliated. Arms flailing angrily as he spoke. But Ali was a stone-cold bitch, it would take more than that to persuade her.
"I DIDN'T FUCKING ASK FOR YOUR HELP THOUGH DID I SWEET PEA?! I TOLD YOU BEFORE I DIDN’T NEED A KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR THEN AND I SURE AS HELL DON’T NEED ONE NOW SO GET THE FUCK OUT! DON’T STAY WHERE YOU CLEARLY AREN’T WANTED!" Ali roared, her vocal cords screaming at her in pain with every syllable.
"Wow." Sweet Pea stepped back, his word quiet and upset. His heart crumbling to the floor at her last words.
"You're right. I don’t know why I bothered helping such a pompous, stuck up Northsider anyway." He snapped before spinning sharply on his heels and strutting out the house. Slamming the front door in frustration as he went.
Tumblr media
"I mean, what a wanker! Can you believe the balls on that over-sized shoe lace?!" Ali ranted. She had been ranting to Cheryl for the last hour whilst they all made cookies for the local homeless shelter.
"I told you Ali. Serpents are the scourge of Riverdale." Cheryl stated putting the last batch of cookies in the oven.
"Oh yeah? That including Topaz?" Ali smirked raising an inquisitive eyebrow. She had seen the two girls eyeing each other up all week at school.
"Pffft please. She's Queen of the hobos". Cheryl snorted turning her face away from Ali so she wouldn't see how badly she was lying.
"Really? That's not what your eyes have been saying." Ali teased knowing full well what was going on in her best friends head. "You've been giving her your come to bed eyes all week."
Ali's phone went off before she had a chance to reply. The song Sharp-dressed Man playing loudly from her jet black, well armoured Iphone.
"What the fuck does Hiram Lodge want?" Ali mumbled wiping her hands before picking up her phone.
"Hello Mr. Lodge, how can I help?" She answered politely.
"Ah Ali. I was wondering if you could do me a small favour? Unfortunately, I cant ask anyone else to do it as I cant have anyone catching word of this. Is that understood?" He asked carefully. He was up to something and since Ali needed the money, he knew she'd do it no questions asked.
"Of-course Mr. Lodge. I'll come round later to discuss this in further detail. Shall we say 6pm at the Pembroke?" Ali replied. It wasn’t the first time she'd done something under the radar like this for the Lodges. She knew the drill.
"Perfect. I'll see you then. Oh and Ali, it is my understanding that you are in need of a new boiler. Is that correct?" He quickly stopped her before she hung up.
"Um. Yes Mr. Lodge, may I ask why?" Ali questioned curiously. "I'm sending a boiler round tomorrow. Someone will be there to fit it in at 11 o’clock sharp." He answered happily before hanging up.
"What was that all about?" Cheryl pondered, watching Ali jot something down on her phone.
"Hiram Lodge has a job for me and he's paying me with a boiler." Ali puzzled staring at her phone.
"That's not weird at all." Cheryl commented just as her phone began buzzing like crazy.
"Oh my god what is with people today." She muttered grabbing her phone. "Yes, dear cousin."
"Cheryl hi, I was wondering if you and Ali fancied going dancing at the White Wyrm tonight? I don’t want to go on my own." Betty responded sheepishly.
"Ali, want to go out dancing at the Wyrm tonight? Betty has something going on there." Cheryl muttered to Ali, her phone pressed to her chest muffling their voices.
"Yeah I'm down providing we're drinking. I should be finished by about 7 so I'll come back here, and we can all get ready and eat at mine." Ali agreed, she needed a release.
"Be at Ali's for 7 we can get ready here. Toodles." Cheryl instructed before hanging up.
"Ready to get the last batch of cookies out and hit the road?" She asked, skipping over to the oven when Ali nodded, her eyebrows still knitted in concern.
"I'll grab the containers for them." Ali muttered disappearing to the storage room by the bathroom.

Potatoes and Starbucks
Sweet Pea x Reader
Warnings: Swearing
A/N: Wow I'm rusty at writing fics oh my days, please let me know what you think regardless.
--------------------------------
3rd person pov
It has been a long time since you had last walked the halls of Riverdale High. The place where dreams go to die and promiscuity is to be expected. It was a second home, obvious issues handling student mental health aside. The halls appeared smaller than they did a year ago, the boom of Serpent population not a subtle change.
"Welcome back nerd!!!" your redheaded best friend threw his arm around you before taking your bag and placing it on his own shoulder. You had missed a year of school, your parents opting for homeschooling whilst traveling around southern America
"Arch no need for the shouting, Greendale don't need to know I'm back as well" you bumped him with your hip, taking your bag back to your own shoulder. As you do this your water slipped from its holster, hitting the grimey floor and cracking open. A small flood following suit. The river of chilled water rushed down the gently sloping floor of a building suffering subsidence.
You stifled a laugh as Archie hurried to the nearby supply closet for a mop. The river coarsed on and into the path of a serpent, sending him sailing across the hall to land square on his back. You flushed red in embarrassment as the boy flushed red with anger. Laughter filled the halls, his serpent cohorts creating most of the noise. Your eyes met those of the fallen as Archie returned and busied himself cleaning. The tower of a boy walked towards you both, the laughter dying out.
"You dropped your bottle" the words were spoken through gritted teeth as he handed you the cracked bottle after collecting it from the floor bitterly.
"I uhh uhhh" you hurriedly tried to take it from his scarred hands, his grip not releasing. His knuckles turned white as more pressure was applied to the already damaged plastic, deepening its wounds.
"Sweet Pea, c'mon let's get you a towel or something" Fangs laid a hand on his best friends shoulder, gently trying to pull Sweet Peas gaze from yours. You couldn't keep it in any longer, a laugh rising from deep within and out into the halls. Sweet Pea couldn't hide his surprise and Fangs his shock.
"Oh God Sweet Potato sorry for laughing but you were just completely taken out" you managed through the laughter while patting his chest and taking your bottle.
"Anyway dude sorry about that, Arch c'mon let's head to home room" you gave a little wave and smile to the two Serpents and carrying yourself off with your best friend.
"Sweet Potato? Sweet Potato?!"
"You have to admit Sweet Potato, it's pretty funny" Sweet Pea shoved his friend away from the door of the chemistry lab. Through the laughter Fangs waved his best friend off as he left for his next class. Sweet Pea rolled his eyes on turning into the lab and crashing straight into you sending your scalding coffee into your chest.
"HOLY FUCKING SHIT HOT! HOT! FUCKING HELL YOU MORON!" you'll pulled the steaming cloth from your boiler skin, cursing loudly as the chemistry teacher came to the incident from down the hall. Sweet Pea attempting to help and failing.
"YN! LANGUAGE! DETENTION!"
"Oh yeah students are openly taking drugs in the hallways and you're sending her to detention" Sweet Peas best intentions were tainted as the dragon lady chemistry teacher turned her fire to him, damning him with the same fate as you.
The both of you sat in sour silence, eyes on a black board that had seen better days. A week for you both in this hell. Your supervisor swung back in his chair, sound asleep, the clock deafening the room aided by the 60 year olds sleepy snoring.
"Yanno I know you're salty about your little swim this morning but I don't think 3rd degree burns is an equal trade" you whispered towards the back of the Serpents head, gently kicking his chair.
"Listen here Starbucks, I didn't mean to do that you, you clearly are accident prone and hell bent on drag down whoever you can with you" you scoff at him causing him to turn around to give you his full attention. His brow raised at you and all you could do was bat your eyelashes.
"I'm just saying I don't think a Serpent should be preaching the path of not taking anyone down for something they didn't do"
"Oh Starbucks that's cold" the boy with the jet black hair grabbed his chest in fake pain. A practically loud gargle from the supervisor caused you both to snap back forward. Sweet Pea rolled his eyes at the mess of a man before rising to his feet quietly.
"C'mon Starbucks I'm bored of this shit, we should just leave and come back before the end"
"What Sweet Potato? Do you want to go get coffee?" You gestured to your stained top gaining a smirk from the Serpent.
You didn't mind the motorcycle, a quicker way to reach the lookout point on one of Riverdales many mountains. Neither of you knew where to go with your time and landed here after getting lost. It being the happiest of accidents.
For the rest of the week you both went to detention for half an hour, left for the rest and returned before the old lump woke up. During this time you both found so many similarities it was hard to imagine any other kind of ending to the week. The world was allowed to flow on by you both on that mountain without ever disrupting you both.
"So like I guess this is the end" a somber tune rang through Sweet Peas voice as ye walked to the car park after your final detention. You gave a small sad smile to the towering boy before exchanging a brief hug and heading to walk away only to be stopped by a weathered hand grabbing yours.
"YN...emm… do you want to maybe go get that coffee?"
"Ehh I'd prefer a water" you winked at the Serpent you were maddeningly falling for.
"I think that can be arranged" he laughed, throwing an arm around your shoulders and guiding you to his motorbike

Greaser Serpents | Part 1
A/N: Currently, I am infatuated with Sweet Pea from Riverdale and I have no clue why since he wasn’t in season 3 that much (also season 3 sucked, just saying), but I can’t seem to get this Serpent out of my head, so I decided, why not start writing imagines and one shots and fanfics about him? So, since I would LOVE to see Riverdale do Grease, I decided to write a mini-series myself. Where OC Luna Simmons, a clean-cut, dutiful Northsider is cast in the school musical as Sandy and the loyal, Northside-hating Serpent is cast as Danny. Somewhere between all the hate between the two, suddenly grows a little love too.
Pairing: Sweet Pea x OC
Words: 2150
Warnings: none?
Situated: somewhere during season 2, instead of Carrie: the musical.
Tumblr media
“I’m directing Grease for this year’s musical,” announces Kevin when they’re all sat in the lounge together before classes start. They all look up at him, a small smile playing on each of their lips. Between all the chaos of the black hood and the red circle and everything with Hiram Lodge, the gang could use some good news. Something to focus on outside of the drama.  “I so love you for that,” Luna says with a wide smile plastered on her face. Luna Simmons isn’t new to the gang. She’s lived in Riverdale from the day she was born, next door to the Coopers on Elm Street. She’s been through everything with these kids: Jason Blossom’s murder last year, Veronica joining the gang, the drugs going around, the Sugarman, the Black Hood. And now, when Southside High School has been closed down and Jughead is back at Riverdale High, so are some other troublemakers. To say she can’t stand most of the Serpents is the understatement of the year. Toni Topaz is the only one she can stand. The pinkhaired lady greets her in the hallways, and they sit together in English class. But for some reason, she really cannot stand Sweet Pea nor Fangs. They seem too aggressive for her liking. They always need to solve every problem with violence, and it’s just not Luna’s forte. Musicals, however, and especially Grease, is her forte.  “When are auditions?” Betty asks her best friend.  “No auditions needed, just tell me who you want to play, and I’ll think about it,” Kevin replies, knowing how talented all of his friends are. “The Serpents are doing sets and decor, Toni is doing choreography,” he explains further, sending a shiver down Luna’s spine just thinking about working with the Serpents.  “Per Weatherbee’s orders, I assume?” Veronica retorts. A chuckle erupts from Luna’s body. Kevin nods his head while scrunching up his nose.  “Oh yeah,” he replies. Luna already thinks about what she’s going to do when she’s playing either Marty or Frenchy. Because, let’s face it, she won’t get the role of Sandy. That one has Betty Cooper written all over it. But Luna would be grateful to play an iconic character like Marty or Frenchy.
“Patty Simcox? Who the hell is Patty Simcox?” Cheryl screams when she sees the character line-up for the musical Kevin had posted on Monday morning. Luna, who just happened to pass by when Cheryl cried out, decides to take a look, just to see whether she got the role of Marty or Frenchy. But, when her eyes fall upon the top of the page where her name is written behind SANDY. Her eyes widen before they glance down to DANNY. Upon seeing the name of Sweet Pea, her stomach churns and her face heats up to the point of nearly exploding. She rips the paper off the board and storms into the lounge where she finds Kevin, Betty and Jughead on the sofas.  “I THOUGHT THE SERPENTS ONLY HELPED WITH SETS?!” she screams at the director, pushing the paper into his chest aggressively. “You know I can’t stand them, Kev, and you still paired me up with fucking Sweet Pea of all people!” she paces the room in a petty rage, instead of being happy she got a leading role.  “Listen, Lunes, I lacked a couple of actors and let’s be honest, Sweet Pea would be a perfect Danny,” Kevin reasons with her, staying calm.  “Kevin is right, Luna,” Betty agrees with him and Luna stops in her tracks to look at the girl-next-door. “Sweet Pea would be one hell of a Danny.” Just at that moment, Sweet Pea and Fangs enter the lounge too, stopping upon hearing the Serpent’s name. Luna makes eye contact with him, suddenly seeing him as Danny. Fuck, he would be a great Danny.  “Wait, what?” the boy asks, tilting his head a little.  “I casted you as Danny for the musical,” Kevin tells him and stands up to hand him the paper, “But since our Sandy over there ripped off the paper in a rage, no one really knows,” he points at Luna, glaring at her for a second.  “I’m not playing in a fucking musical,” Sweet Pea snarls, pushing the paper back into the director’s arms. “I said I would work on sets, not actually play in your stupid play.” the boy growls and walks over to the vending machine for a snack.  “It’s either this or being suspended, Sweet Pea,” Jughead warns him from his spot on the couch next to his girlfriend.  “Fine,” Sweet Pea growls, “But I’m not rehearsing any shit with her,” it sounds bitter coming from his mouth as he sends a glare towards Luna.  “The feeling’s mutual, dickhead,” Luna snarls before grabbing her bag and leaving the lounge, leaving her friends behind, still enraged. “I can’t believe that prick,” she mutters as she passes Toni in the hallway who just happened to pick up on that. She enters the lounge, finding the others, still a little agitated about what had just happened.  “Did a bomb explode here, or what did I miss?” she asks them with a chuckle.  “Sweet Pea landed the role of Danny Zuko,” Fangs explains with a proud smile and a proud pat on his best friend’s back, only to get a glare in return.  “I thought Serpents were only doing sets?” Toni asks, grabbing the character sheet from Kevin to see if she landed a role too.  “I lacked some actors, okay? I had no other choice,” Kevin answers, getting annoyed by everyone’s reactions to him enrolling some Serpents too.  “I’m playing Frenchy?” Toni asks, her eyes sparkling, “Dude, she’s iconic! Thank you!” that was the first grateful response he’s had since he posted the cast list.  “Did you give me a role too?” Fangs asks, grabbing the sheet from Toni.  “You’re Sonny,” Kevin replies with a little smile.  “Because I’m tiny?” Fangs asks, raising an eyebrow. Kevin opens his mouth, wanting to say something, but Fangs beat him to it, “I’m kidding, bro. Thanks!” he gives Kevin a toothy smile before handing him back the sheet.  “When’s the first rehearsal?” Betty asks.  “Tomorrow after school. I hope to see you all at the auditorium at four,” he says when the bell rings, signaling class will start soon. All of them scatter to their classes after bidding brief goodbyes. Some more genuine than the other. This is going to be interesting.
“Okay, Summer Nights from the top!” Kevin says from his spot in the audience with his script in front of him. Neither Sweet Pea nor Luna are happy to be there, but at least they’re doing what Kevin asks of them.  “So, what you do this summer, Sandy?” Toni asks as her character while the instrumental begins to play already.  “Oh, I spent most of it at the beach. I met a boy there,” Luna says her line without gagging at the thought of that boy being Sweet Pea.  “You hauled all your cookies to the beach for some guy?” Veronica asks as Rizzo. The attitude and the sass match Veronica’s actual, real-life quirks.  “Aw, he was sort of special,” Luna replies with a little smile, acting like she actually likes the guy she’s talking about. In her mind, she was scoffing at herself. Sweet Pea? Special? No way. He was just some plain, aggressive boy that thinks he could intimidate girls with his tough looks.  “Please,” Veronica hauls Luna from her thoughts, “There ain’t no such thing.” “Oh, you haven’t met this boy. It was really romantic,” she turns to Toni who had come to sit next to her, hitting her marks Kevin had given her perfectly.  “Woah, woah,” Sweet Pea then goes as Danny when it’s his turn on the other side of the stage, “You guys really want to hear all the horny details,” Luna rolls her eyes at him absentmindedly, earning a giggle from Toni and a glare from Kevin. The boys surrounding Sweet Pea all cheer. Luna nearly vomits as she hears them speak, until the Serpent begins to sing his part. That’s when she internally melts. His voice sounds like Elvis Presley’s voice. Rough and sultry, causing her toes to tingle.  “Summer lovin’, had me a blast,”  “Summer lovin’, happened so fast,” Luna sings in time, shaking herself out of her gross thoughts. His voice might charm her, but him as a person certainly doesn’t.  “Met a girl, crazy for me,” “Met a boy, cute as can be,” she gets up from her chair now. Her knees nearly giving away as the two harmonize at the next part.  “Summer days drifting away to uh all the summer nights,” they sound so good together. Kevin is proud of himself for casting those to as main characters.  “Tell me more, tell me more,” the girls sing together while doing the choreography Toni had taught them in earlier rehearsals.  “Like does he have a car?” Betty sings as Marty, her voice sounding better than ever. Maybe Betty would be a better Marty than Luna ever could be. Maybe she should be happy with the role she got. And to be fair, even doing this number all week long is actually fun. Seeing it come all together, becoming better and better every day they rehearsed. It’s something Luna could’ve only ever dreamed about. Hell, she dreamed about being Sandy all her life since she first saw the old movie classic with Betty when they were younger.  The music slows down as the cast is nearing the end of the song, Luna hops off the table she was sitting on and Sweet Pea gets off the stands he and the boys were dancing on.  “It turned colder, that’s where it ends,” Luna sings softly, her voice sending shivers down Kevin’s spine as he smiles up at her, proud of his friend.  “So, I told her, we’d still be friends,”  “Then we made our true love vows.” “Wonder what she’s doing now,” Sweet Pea sings, looking out into the distance.  “Summer dreams, ripped at the seams, but ... oh... Those summer...” both sing together, harmonizing perfectly and then even hitting the high note perfectly. “Niiiiiiiights”. Luna wraps her arms around herself, panting a little after using most of her breath intake for that one note. Kevin’s applause rips her out of her thoughts, and she glances over at Sweet Pea, who’s already looking at her with a soft smile on his face.  “That was amazing, you guys! Chills, literal chills!” Kevin says from his spot. “Let’s take that from the top one more time!” and they did. They rehearse that exact scene for a couple more hours until Kevin finally calls it a day. The entire cast is exhausted from all the dancing, but they’re quite chuffed with themselves as it sounds better each and every time. “Hey,” a voice makes Luna snap out of her thoughts as she’s packing up her stuff. She looks up to find Sweet Pea standing in front of her. In place of that intimidating glare he always put on, he now has a sweet, tender smile on his face and his eyes look a little lighter for once. A little less dark. “Just wanted to tell you that you did a really great job,” he compliments, stunning her a little. She didn’t expect that. Not from him anyways. Not at all. Luna Simmons is at a loss for words all at once. Only from one simple glance and one simple compliment. “T-Thanks,” she stutters, “Uhm, you too, Sweet Pea,” she fires back with a little, confused smile. The boy in front of her chuckles, his eyes glancing at the hardwood floor beneath their feet for a split second before looking up to her again. “Maybe we should uhm, you know, rehearse together sometime,” he suggests, pointing his script at her in an awkward and weird way. At least she’s not the only one feeling awkward about this entire interaction. She looks at him for a moment; did he really just ask her that? “Uhm, yeah, sure,” she replies, her eyebrows tugging together for a moment in confusion. “See you around, Zuko,” she bids her goodbyes with a little smirk at the nickname. Sweet Pea laughs lightly, causing Luna’s stomach to flutter for some bizarre reason. She turns around to walk away from the boy and finally head home. She’s ready for a hot bath and a good chick-flick. Maybe she should watch Grease tonight. “See you around, Sandy,” Sweet Pea calls behind her. Yep, she should definitely watch Grease tonight. She casts one last glance to her co-cast member before exiting the auditorium, excited for the next rehearsal with him. And maybe, just maybe, she should take him up on the offer to rehearse together. The boy doesn’t seem that bad after all.

Sweet Pea x Fem OC
Pt. 2
archie andrews twin sister, delilah, is fed up with him being overprotective. so when a cute serpent offers her an opportunity, she can't turn it down
Tumblr media
Delilah hung onto him for dear life, terrified as they raced through the streets of riverdale. when they finally arrived at pops, delilah didn't think she had it in her to step off the bike. he pried her hands off him and helped her off. with her whole body trembling in fear she couldn't get the helmet strap undone. he once again helped her and took it off her head.
"i'm never doing that again," she said, flattening out her hair. he fixed a piece of her hair and gestured for her to follow him.
they walked through the doors and delilah surveyed the room for archie. he wasn't there.
"i'm gonna go wash my hands," she said excused herself. when she came back out, she came face to face with archie, veronica, jughead, and betty.
"hey girl," veronica said. "we were just about to sit down, do you wanna join us?"
"oh, no thanks V. i'm here with someone," delilah explained. "thank you for the offer though."
"o la la, does delilah andrews finally have a boy?" veronica asked.
"no," archie shot in. "no she does not."
"just between us girls," she whispered to veronica and betty. "kinda."
the girls all squealed at her admission.
"i don't wanna move to fast, and put labels on it, but i really like him," she lied through her teeth.
"well we won't keep you any longer," betty winked at her and started walking toward a booth.
"who?" archie demanded.
"none of your business," she walked away from him and towards sweet pea who was seated at the counter. when she took the seat next to him, archie sprinted across the room to them.
he ripped sweet pea out of his seat and they started yelling.
"what the fuck are you doing?" archie said.
"i'm here on a date," sweet pea responded.
"get away from my sister," archie shoved him and sweet pea shoved him back.
"you're being ridiculous," delilah said, stepping in front of sweet pea right as archie tried to push him again. she lost her balance and fell back into sweet pea hard. he caught her and rested his hand on her hip.
"don't touch her," archie said.
"i think i'll do what i want."
archie lunged at sweet pea but jughead held him back.
"sit down," veronica demanded. "leave her alone, archie."
"this isn't over," archie threatened before walking back to a booth.
sweet pea turned her around and leaned her back against the counter.
"not so bad, right?" he whispered. she shrugged lightly and he pulled her in for a hug. "is he watching?"
"mhm," delilah hummed into his chest. after a few seconds he pulled away slightly, their hips still pressed together. he looked at her carefully before raising his hand to her chin and gently kissing her.
"why him?" archie sat at his booth, fuming as he watched his sister.
"he's not without charm, archiekins," veronica said. "why are you so opposed to her dating anyway?"
"every boy in this town is an asshole," archie said.
"you live in this town," betty pointed out.
"i know."
"you're mainly upset because he's a serpent," jughead scoffed.
"yeah, jug. and he tried to hurt me. he showed up at my house and tried to fight me," archie complained. "why does he like her anyway? he hates northsiders."
"well, for starters, delilah is drop dead gorgeous. like even i've had thoughts about her," veronica admitted, resulting in a disgusted look from archie. "but, also, she's kind. she doesn't judge the southsiders, at least not outwardly."
"i think it's sweet," betty said.
"how? how is that sweet?" archie asked, slamming his fork down.
"he's willing to fight for her. he must know she doesn't date because you don't let her. just be happy for her, arch," betty explained.
"it just doesn't feel right," archie shook his head. "i can't shake the feeling he's using her to get back at me."
"not all serpents are the horrible people you make them out to be," jughead chimed in.
"can you blame me for thinking that?" archie practically yelled.
"i guess not. i'll talk to him," jughead told him.
"thanks jug."
archie watched as they left the diner and the only thing stopping him from following them was veronica sitting on the outside. but when he saw sweet pea hand the helmet to her he practically shoved her out and raced outside, his friends not far behind.
"absolutely not," he yelled. "she is not getting on that."
"calm down," veronica said.
"no, ronnie. a date is one thing but she can't get on that. she'll get hurt," he said. "i bet that's what you want though."
"excuse me," sweet pea stepped close to him.
"you heard me. i bet you're just itching to hurt her to get back at me."
"there's something wrong with you," sweet pea bit back.
"come on," she pulled sweet pea back. "he's not worth it."
"let's go," he mounted his bike and delilah followed him.
archie watched in anger as they rode away. he stormed back into pops, slammed money down on the table, and started running back home. when he got home, he went straight to delilah's room, but she wasn't there. he ran back down the stairs and found his dad in the kitchen.
"has 'lilah come back home?"
"no, i don't remember seeing her come in," fred responded. archie went back upstairs and called delilah. she didn't respond.
"god, he's annoying," delilah whined, putting her phone back in her pocket.
"i know," sweet pea said. they were sat on the edge of sweet water river, completely alone. "why doesn't he let you date?"
"i'm not really sure," delilah admitted. "something about all the boys being awful, i think. but i don't believe that."
"that's weird."
"i think he's trying to protect me, i mean he wouldn't ever leave my side growing up. but ever since he started dating veronica, he's been leaving me alone more, thank god."
"it still doesn't make sense though. you'd think he'd want you to have a boyfriend so he could protect you," sweet pea pointed out.
"i gave up on trying to understand my brothers mind a long time ago," she put a hand on his shoulder and sighed.
they sat there in silence, watching the river flow, for what felt like eternity before delilah spoke.
"it's getting late," she whispered. "it's dark and i'm cold."
"take my jacket," he took off his serpent jacket and handed it to her. "i'm sure your brother would love that."
"take me home," she said, snatching the jacket from him and pulling it over herself. she was practically drowning in it.
hé drove her back home and walked her up to her door. it wasn't that late but delilah didn't want to risk waking anyone up. she slowly crept up the stairs and entered her room. she found archie sitting on her bed.
"why him?"
"he asked me out," delilah said, crossing her arms.
"and you thought i would be okay with this?"
"archie, i have had enough with you thinking you can control my life. he likes me, and i like him. i'm not gonna let you ruin yet another relationship for me, i just won't," she was trying to be stern with him, but not be too loud. "now get out of my room," she pointed to the door.
"im not done with this," he said, heading for the door.
"yes, you are, archie. seriously leave me alone, you've done enough to hurt this family, dont add this to the list of things you'll be apologizing for for the rest of your life."

Tumblr media
Chuck dropped me off that night and as soon as I stepped into my house I was bombarded with questions.
“How was it?”
“Did you have fun?”
“He minded himself, right?”
“When are you going to see him again?”
I sighed as I reached the stairs.
“Mom, can I just be alone tonight? I promise to answer your questions in the morning.”
She agreed and left me alone to my thoughts and the buzzing of my phone.
Three weeks after our date, and our other dates, I saw Chuck in Pop’s with Josie. They were dancing and smiling and having a great time.  I told Chuck no hard feelings, and he deserved to be happy, even if I wasn’t the one making him so. He told me how terrible he felt that we ended the way we did. But I promised him I would be okay.
It didn’t hit me until the following Monday that I had no one, for the first time in a long time. I had sworn off the Serpents, and by extension, my closest friends.
Sweet Pea’s teasing was relentless, and not like how it was in the beginning, this felt malicious instead of flirtatious. Like he wanted to push until I cracked.
And I did.
I was sitting alone outside for lunch, reading a book. I had been catching up on all of the school work I was behind on. It wasn’t like I had plans on Friday night anyway.
“Well, well,” he and the other Serpents approached me, “Daisy decided not to sit with her pet bulldog today. What is it, Daisy? Was he bad? Is he in the dog house?” He feigned a pout.
He and a few others laughed at his lame joke.
I looked around and saw all of my other former friends walking up.
“Just let your Bulldog know that Serpents may not bite harder, but they are always deadly? Alright?”
I set down my book, biting my tongue.
“Sweet Pea, chill,” Toni commanded.
“No, no, you heard Daisy, “fuck all of you” if I recall?” He sneered, “Well tell me, Daisy, how does your boy feel about all the fucking you’ve been doing to us recently?”
I stood from my seat, startling a few Serpents.
“You know, Sweet Pea, it takes a special sort of sadistic to be like you, doesn’t it? Who hurt you so badly that you have to bring down those who don’t fall in love with you at the drop of a hat? Narcissist, much?”
Sweet Pea opened his loud mouth to speak, but I cut him off.
“And if you must know, which you don’t, Chuck and I aren’t seeing each other anymore. And before you try to use that against me like you’ve used everything else, it was mutual. Because Chuck is mature, unlike you.”
He started again, “Oh, come on-“
“Shut up! I’m so sick of your shit! You have been harassing me for weeks, for what? Because I didn’t sleep with you? Because I fell for your stupid flirts? Or do you just have a third grade mentality? What, if you are mean to me, it means you like me?” I took a deep breath, “I’m so sick of this Pea. All of this. You called this bullshit and, for once, you were right. So just leave me alone. At this point I’m begging. Just leave me alone.”
I stormed off, not letting him get a word in edgewise.
I rushed to my Jeep, leaving school early like I often did nowadays, when I heard my name being called.
“Devyn, will you just wait a second?” Jughead and Toni we’re rushing behind me, “Dev, I can’t run this fast.”
Jughead was breathing heavily, leaning against my Jeep.
“What?” I folded my arms, defensive.
“Just,” Toni sighed, “Let us talk.”
“What,” I repeated.
“How about we go somewhere?” Jughead smiled, “Toni, you have the keys to the Wyrm right?”
Toni nodded and smiled.
“I have no interest in going to a dirty bar.” I rolled my eyes.
“Devyn, please.” Toni begged.
I weighed my options.
“Fine, but I’m driving myself.”
“Well then can I grab a ride?” Toni smiled, “I rode with Fangs today.”
I rolled my eyes and waved her on, “Let's go.”
“So you and Chuck broke up?” Toni asked from behind the bar, “What happened?”
“Yeah,” I shrugged, “It just wasn’t working out. I mean, it was great. He was so sweet and he really seemed like he had changed. I just don’t think it was meant to be.”
“I’m sorry, Dev.” Jughead frowned.
“Like I said, no hard feelings. We hadn’t been together for that long. It’s not like I lost some great love in my life.”
“No, I mean-,” Jug sighed, “I’m sorry that life has kinda sucked since I came back to Riverdale. I feel like I should’ve done more to protect you, I guess, from Sweet Pea.”
“I warned you,” Toni shrugged.
“Jug, I didn’t need protection. I just needed friends. And I’m sorry I pushed you both away. It’s just hard not to group you with him.”
“You know what you need?” Toni grinned, “A good night.”
Jug smirked as Toni pulled out three shot glasses from behind the bar.
“It’s like one in the afternoon,” I chuckled, denying the liquor.
“But,” Toni interjected, “it’s five o’clock somewhere.”
Toni poured the amber liquid in a line, grinning wickedly. We grabbed our respective glasses and knocked them back.
Jughead winced and Toni smiled. The taste was foreign and burned in my mouth. It also reminded me of kissing Sweet Pea.
In the beginning, we paced ourselves. Water with every shot, hour long breaks in between. But when the sun fell and the bar had officially opened, nothing could stop me.
Jughead had called it quits a while ago and headed home and Toni couldn’t drink while she worked.
So I was alone at the bar, taking every drink that was bought for me.
I couldn’t feel anything that had haunted me for the last few months and it felt phenomenal.
“Toni, dance with me,” I demanded, pushing my shot glass towards her.
“How about you have some coffee and then we can dance?” She smiled, stealing my glass.
“Toni, I wanna dance. Let’s dance.”
“You wanna dance?” An older man leaned in close.
Toni shook her head.
“Yeah!” I took his hand and marched to the dance floor. Our bodies swayed together to the rhythm and I was having the time of my life.
“Thank for dancing with me!” I grinned, “Everyone here is such a party pooper.”
“How about we move this party to my place?” He nuzzled his face into my neck, his breath hot.
I was too drunk to care.
“Sure! One more drink though,” I stumbled over to the bar and leaned in towards Toni.
“Hey, I’m gonna go with,” I turned and pointed towards my dance partner, “that guy.”
“You what?” Toni shouted, eyes practically bugging out of her head.
“Don’t wait up.” I sauntered back to my new friend, but he was gone. Standing in his place was Sweet Pea.
“Hey. Where’s what’s his name?” I asked, slurring my words a little.
“He went home. Where you should be.” Sweet Pea sighed.
“I don’t wanna go home,” I argued, swaying back and forth, “I think I’m drunk.”
“I think you are too.” Sweet Pea grabbed my hand, “Let’s get you out of here.”
“Out of here,” I repeated, letting him pull me to the exit.
“Where are we going?” I asked as we walked out of the parking lot.
“I’m not letting you on the back of a bike while you’re like this.”
“Like,” I hiccuped, “what?”
Just as I completed my question, I stumbled and fell onto the gravel beneath us, skinning my knee.
“God you are drunk,” Sweet Pea chuckled before lifting me off the ground.
“I’m bleeding,” I observed.
Sweet Pea bent down, “Hop on.”
I climbed onto Sweet Pea’s back and let him carry me.
Before I knew it, we were in Sunnyside trailer park.
Sweet Pea gently set me down on his old couch and left, coming back with a bottle of water. My body felt heavier and my head felt lighter.
“Hey Sweet Pea.” I blurted.
“Yes?”
“You were wrong.”
“What about?”
“I fell in love with you and we didn’t even fuck.”

Chapter Four: A Teenager’s Romance
“YOU HAD YOUR FIRST KISS!?!?!!”
Lily giggled into her pillow, her and Trish finally had a night to themselves and Lily spilled the beans about her night with Sweet Pea. Trish sat on the opposite end of Lily’s bed criss-cross-applesauce listening intently.
“Well…? How was it? I bet he’s a really good kisser.”
“It was…sweet.” Lily replayed the moment in her head for probably the millionth time.
“He must really like you, Lil’. I’m so happy for you!” She beamed at her friend. She loved seeing her like this, there was a new side of Lily that she hadn’t seen before Sweet Pea.
“So how’s everything going with Fangs?”
Trish sighed in contentment, her shoulders relaxing. “Lily he is just the most! I’ve never laughed so hard with anyone in my entire life, and he’s such a dreamboat. He makes me feel…special. And you know what?” Lily peered up at her expectantly, a small smile on her lips. “I think I’m in love!” Trish giggled, playfully outstretching her arms to the sky. The short sleeve of her silk pajama top slid up with the movement, revealing the skin up to her shoulder.
Lily noticed a couple of bruises on the newly exposed skin of her upper arm, it looked like someone had roughly grabbed her. “Trish? What is this from? Are you okay?”
Trish looked to her shoulder and immediately pulled her sleeve back down to cover it. “Oh, that? It’s nothing really.” She laughed it off, but Lily was far from convinced that it was “nothing”.
“I’ve just been such a klutz lately.”
“Trish...”
“Really Lily, I’m fine. Nothing I can’t handle.”
Archie must have suspected something was going on with Trish. Lily knew he had a temper, the two of them would get into arguments all of the time, but things had become physical recently.
Trish was quick to change the subject. “In other news, a little birdie told me you’re going on a date with Sweet Pea on Friday?”
Lily had been thinking about it since the night he asked to see her again. She’d get the jitters every time she would think about it. Her first real date. She’d wished she could have told her mom all about it like most girls could, but if she found out she was going out with a Serpent she would have her head on a stake.
“Yeah, I’m sort of nervous. I’ve never been on a real date before.”
“It’ll be incredible. Plus, me and Fangs might meet up with you guys at the drive-in, so I’ll be there for moral support.”
“I’m just worried. Maybe he doesn’t really like me and he’s just looking for a quick hookup or something? Do you think maybe I shouldn’t have kissed him?”
Trish shook her head. “Lil’ you’re completely overthinking it. It’s obvious that he likes you, and according to Fangs he’s never like this with most girls.”
Lily nodded her head, it was comforting to hear that. “I sure hope you’re right.”
**
It was now 5 minutes past 6 and Sweet Pea was nowhere to be seen. Her parents had their weekly game night with the Keller’s. Lily sat at the kitchen table, nervously fiddling with the gold cross around her neck. Though it had only been 5 minutes past the time he said he’d be there, she already began filling her head with doubt. Maybe he didn’t really like her? Did she scare him off by telling him her father was a holy man? Had she wasted her first kiss on some guy that would never talk to her again? She felt so silly, she never should have let her guard down like that. It was entirely unlike her.
Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the ring of the doorbell. Lily stood up from her chair collecting her small white clutch and raced to the front door, stopping by the full length mirror that hung in the hall to check her hair that she wore down in soft blonde waves. She decided to go for her usual minimal makeup look, just a bit of soft pink blush and mascara to accentuate her green eyes. She wore a pale pink floral dress and a pair of saddle shoes. She was ready. She took a deep breath and opened the front door, there he stood towering over her. He was dressed in his usual attire, Serpent jacket, white tee and black jeans. He was holding something behind his back.
“Hey”
“Hey yourself.” His eyes ran over her petite figure. He couldn’t believe how good she looked. She looked almost angelic. Lily was different from the other girls he had gone with in the past. Pea also wasn’t usually one to go for shorter girls. But he couldn’t deny the fact that he loved the way he towered over her.
Lily felt self conscious under his gaze. Did she do too much? She knew they were only going to Pop’s and then to the drive-in, but she had wanted to look nice. But the way Sweet Pea was looking at her in that moment made her second guess herself.
“Hey, I uh. Ehem” He cleared his throat. “I got you something.” He pulled his hand out from behind his back to reveal a small bouquet of ivory white flowers.
“They’re lilies, you know…Like your name. That’s what the guy at the-uh place said anyways. I dunno, it’s kind of lame…It was Toni’s ide-“
Lily walked up to the blabbering Serpent and planted a soft kiss to his cheek to shut him up. She accepted the bouquet that he held out to her, the sweet aroma of the flowers filling her senses.
“I love them, thank you Sweet Pea.”
He smiled down at her, nonchalantly shrugging his shoulders. “No problem, they were all my idea.”
Lily couldn’t help but roll her eyes, she locked the door behind her as they started toward the driveway. There was no sign of Sweet Pea’s truck. But there was a shiny black Ford De Luxe in near perfect condition. The paint glistened in the moonlight.
“This is a bit of an upgrade from the truck. Is it new?”
“Sorta, me and Jug have been fixing her up for a couple of months. We’re gonna race it down by Sweetwater River.”
“You race cars?”
“Sometimes just for fun, sometimes for pinks.”
“Well, she’s beautiful.”
Sweet Pea watched as Lily’s dainty finger glided over the smooth black exterior of the Ford De Luxe. If her face was anything to go by, she seemed impressed. He lifted his lips into a smirk, “She sure is.”
Lily looked up at him, realizing he was watching her. She looked down at her feet, smiling.
**
It was a Friday night, and Pop’s was in full swing. Sweet Pea and Lily walked in and spotted a booth in the back left corner and made a run for it before it was taken. They slid into their seats on opposite sides of the booth. A pretty blonde waitress skated over, her hair was tucked back in a high ponytail and she greeted them with a friendly smile. Lily recognized her as Betty Cooper. She lived the next street over from her, they had taken a few classes together. She was a very sweet, very smart girl.
“Lily! How are you? How’s your summer so far?”
“Hi, Betty!” She then noticed Sweet Pea on the opposite side of the booth.
“Hey Sweet Pea, how’ve you been?”
“Not too bad. Could we just get a couple of shakes? One chocolate and….” Sweet Pea looked over at Lily and then back to Betty “One vanilla.”
“Two shakes; one chocolate, one vanilla. You got it.” She flashed them a smile and skated back to the counter to put in their order.
“She’s a real nice girl, I’ve had a few classes with her.”
“Betty? Yeah, she stops by the Wyrm every once in awhile to see Jones. Turns out she’s one hell of a mechanic, she’s helped us out at the garage a few times.”
“I didn’t even know they were an item until I saw them at the Wyrm last week.”
“Yeah, most Northsiders don’t want people knowing they’re hanging around with Serpents. They’re keeping it low-key.”
A few minutes passed when Betty brought over their shakes and placed them on the table with the check. “There you guys are!” They both thanked her and dove into their shakes.
“Mmm, this is delicious. How’d you know vanilla was my favorite?” Lily questioned.
Sweet Pea shrugged, a smile threatening to break out. “Lucky guess.”
Sweet Pea watched her take a sip from her straw, she had a bit of whipped cream just below her bottom lip. Sweet Pea reached over and ran his thumb over the spot, lingering a bit over the bottom curve of her lip. The two locked eyes, and her stomach did a little flip.
**
Once they finished their shakes and payed the bill, the two hopped back in the car and made their way over to the drive in to meet up with Trish and Fangs. Cars littered the parking lot, mostly packed with teenagers and their dates. Lily’s father often warned her of the “dangers of the drive-in”. He claimed it was nothing but a hot spot for kids to meet up and do “unholy things.” Lily wasn’t entirely naive, she knew a lot of guys would bring girls there to make out, sometimes even more. Regardless, she genuinely liked the drive-in, Trish and her and been going there together for years. Some of their best memories took place there.
Sweet Pea spotted Fangs standing outside his car having a smoke. He pulled into the parking space next to him and rolled down his window to talk.
Fangs’ eyes lit up, roaming over the body of the fixed up car. “WOAH! Check her out!” Fangs circled around it, leaning in to check out the details. “We’re gonna kick those Ghoulies asses down at Sweetwater, in style.” Fangs had a wide, child-like grin on his face.
“She cleaned up pretty nice huh?”
“Hell yeah. I hardly even recognized the ole hunk of junk” He turned to Sweet Pea, he looked as though he had an epiphany. “SP, this car could be make-out city!”
Lily leaned forward and interrupted.“Hi Fangs.”
“Oh-uh. Hey Lily!” He said rather clumsily, “Didn’t see ya there.” Sweet Pea let out a deep sigh.
“Hey, Where’s Trish?”
“Turns out she’s not coming, said she had a “last minute commitment” or somethin’. I dunno. Figured I’d come check out the scene anyway.” That immediately worried Lily, she hoped everything was okay with Trish. It was unlike her to miss night out with Fangs. “Hey you guys want anything? I’m gonna hit the snack bar.”
“Nah, I’m cool man. Lily? Want anything?”
“Could you please grab me a bottle of coke?”
Fangs nodded. “You got it!” and strolled over to the snack bar, combing his hair back on the way over.
Lily watched as Sweat Pea took out a cigarette and brought it to his lips. He looked down at Lily and raised his eyebrows, “You want one?”
“Me? Oh, no. I’ve never smoked before.”
Sweet Pea gave her an amused look, “Ya don’t say?” He chuckled and blew out a cloud of smoke.
“You look really beautiful by the way. I don’t know if I already told you that.”
Lily blushed, “Thanks, you don’t look half bad yourself.”
“Glad you think so, darlin’.” Sweet Pea smiled, puffing on his cigarette. Lily watched as the smoke billowed out of the drivers side window.
“Hey Pea?”
“Hmm?”
“I had a really good time with you last weekend. I can’t thank you enough for inviting me.”
“Anytime you want to have some fun just let me know.”
“And thank you for the-“ She laughed nervously. “Well, you know.” She felt the heat crawl up to her cheeks.
“The kiss?” He looked at her, amused. He loved how shy she was, he found it very endearing.
“Yea, the kiss. It was…nice.”
“Well, kitten. There’s plenty more where that one came from.” Sweet Pea winked at the blonde, whose cheeks had since grown pink. The opening credits began, Sweet Pea tossed his cigarette out the window snaked his arm around Lily’s shoulders. She let her body sink into him. She smiled up at him and they locked eyes. Sweet Pea leaned his head in closer to the small blonde. His lips hovered just above hers when the back door to the car flung open, Fangs hopped in the back seat and slammed the door shut with a loud exhale. Sweet Pea pulled his head back and leaned back against his headrest. He closed his eyes in annoyance. If there was one thing that Sweet Pea hated Fangs for, it was his impeccable timing. Fangs extended his arm out between the two, a bottle of coke in his hand. “One pop for the missus.” Lily let out a soft laugh, taking the drink from his hand. “Thank you, Fangs.”
“No problem, toots.” Fangs sunk back in his seat, making himself comfortable as he shoveled a handful of buttery popcorn into his mouth. “Did I miss anything?” Sweet Pea rolled his eyes, glaring at his friend in the rearview mirror. “OOOO! I love the opening credits! It’s the one with the little dancing popcorn guy, I love it!” Fangs let out a laugh and began singing along with the music. “Let’s all go to the mooooovies! Let’s all go to the mooooooovies! Let’s all go to the mooooooviiiiiiiiiiii-UNH!” Sweet Pea had turned around and grabbed his friend by the collar of his leather jacket. Lily sat there, eyes glued to the screen trying to hold back her laughter.
“HEY- whats it to ya?!”
“Hit the pavement, Fogarty.”
“Oh come on SP, you’re not gonna make me watch the movie all by myself are ya?”
Sweet Pea nudged his head toward Lily, his eyebrows raising. Sweet Pea swore he watched the gears slowly begin to turn in Fangs’ head.
“OH. Oh, yeah. I’ll just catch up with you guys later then. Enjoy the movie.”
Fangs opened up the door, and sauntered away from the car with his bucket of popcorn.
“Sorry about him, he’s a pain in my ass.”
“No, thats okay. I think he’s rather funny.”
“Oh yeah, a regular Moe Howard.” Sweet Pea scoffed, he replaced his arm around Lily’s shoulders and continued watching the movie. Throughout the film, the pair took turns stealing glances at one another. Sweet Pea lightly caressed her shoulder, the small contact sending a shiver down her spine. Lily looked over to him.
“Do you like the movie? You seem distracted.”
“Oh, yeah. The movie’s great. I’ve just been thinking…”
“…About?” Lily looked at him curiously.
“This.” Sweet Pea placed his hand under her chin, guiding her lips to his. He placed a firm kiss against her lips and pulled back. Lily looked up at him under her lashes and pulled him closer to her, their lips connecting again. They moved against each other a little more than before. Lily’s fingers held tightly to the lapels of his leather jacket. Sweet Pea ran his tongue over her bottom lip and she let out a small gasp just as Sweet Pea slid his tongue between her lips. She let her tongue gently caress against his. She had never understood what could be so great about someones tongue in your mouth, it seemed disgusting. Although at first it caught her off-guard, but then she thought it was kind of nice. Different, but nice. She suddenly felt an unfamiliar ache deep down, an ache for something more. She let her fingers become tangled in his dark hair as Sweet Pea pulled her body closer to his. He let one hand slowly slide down her subtle curves and down to her waist. She involuntarily moved her body a little closer to his. She seemed like she was into it, so he dared to venture his hand a little further down her side past the curve of her hip and stopped at her knee. Lily let out a small sigh into his mouth. She had never felt as good a she did in that moment, yet she somehow wanted more. She wasn’t sure what “more” was exactly, but she yearned for it. Sweet Pea gently rubbed his thumb against the side of her knee and slowly started to creep up her leg, his fingers sliding just past the hem of her cotton dress and pushing the fabric up her soft thigh.
Lily jerked back. “Sweet Pea!” Lily said with a gasp, smoothing out her skirt and protectively wrapping her arms around herself. She was shocked. Mostly in shock of herself for letting things escalate so quickly, but also how her body hadn’t wanted him to stop.
“Sorry, I got carried away.” Sweet Pea looked at her apologetically, letting out a deep sigh. Sweet Pea really wasn’t used to taking things slow, he was used to drunken one night stands. He knew things with Lily would be different, she just wasn’t that type.
“I’m sorry. I’m just not used to this.” She admitted to him bashfully.
“Don’t worry about it. I’m not gonna force you to do anything.” He rubbed his hand over his face. “I’ll try to slow down.”
She thought it was sweet of him. Although admittedly, she wasn’t sure that she wanted him to slow down. Especially after that. “Thank you, you’re a real gentleman.”
“That’s a first. “ Sweet Pea gave her a small smile, what in the hell was he doing? He’d only hung out with this chick a handful of times and it was as though she had cast a spell on him.
His thoughts were interrupted by a second gasp from Lily. He looked over to the girl to see her ducked down in the passenger seat.
“You okay, blondie? What’s with the freak out?”
Lily looked over at him with worried eyes. “It’s Trish!”
“I thought Fangs said she wasn’t coming? What are you hiding for?”
“She’s here with Archie.”
Sweet pea looked out the windshield of the car and low and behold, there stood Archie Andrews with his arm around the leggy redhead. They were talking with Moose Mason and Midge Klump. “Ah, shit.” Sweet Pea hoped Fangs wouldn’t bump into them. He knew it would crush him.
And just like that, Fangs’ impeccable timing struck once again. He was looking down at his bucket of popcorn, tossing a few pieces into his mouth when he looked up and saw them. Archie Andrews walking with his arm around a girl. His girl. Sweet Pea watched his best friend’s face drop at the sight. He tried to sneak by the couple without going noticed, but Archie had spotted him as soon as he turned down that row of cars.
“Well, well, well. I didn’t know Southside put out their trash on Friday nights.” Trish looked up at Fangs, her eyes wide in both shock and embarrassment.
“Where are the rest of those greaseball buddies of yours?”
“Bite me, Andrews.” Fangs went to walk by the group of Northsiders.
Archie stopped in front of him, pushing on his shoulders. “What did you just say to me?” Fangs just stood there silently, glancing over at Trish. Her head hung low in shame.
“You touch me again, I’ll knock your lights out.”
“You know, you’ve got some nerve showing up on the Northside alone. In MY territory, talking to me like that.”
Trish caressed Archie’s arm, nuzzling up against his side. “Archie cut it out, just let him go…He’s not worth it.” Fangs’ face fell into a deep scowl. He knew she was only doing and saying those things to diffuse the situation, but he’s be lying if it didn’t sting like hell to see her like that with Archie.
Archie wrapped his arm around Trish’s shoulders as he held eye contact with Fangs, and started to walk away.
Fangs stood there for a second before walking back to sit on the hood of his car, placing his bucket of popcorn next to him. He ran a hand over his face before taking out a cigarette and bringing it to his lips.
“You should go talk to him, Pea.” Sweet Pea looked over at Lily, he knew she was right. He let out a deep sigh before he opened the door and walked over to Fangs, leaning against the car.
“You got a smoke I can bum off you?”
Fangs nodded silently, reaching in his pocket and pulling out the pack, offering it to Sweet Pea. “You know, I just don’t get it man.” Sweet Pea slid out a cig from the carton, lighting it and taking a long drag.
“I take her out, I treat her like gold, make her laugh. I practically worship at her feet.” Fangs took a puff off his cigarette. “And at the end of the day, she goes right back to him.” He said with blatant disgust.
“He treats her like shit. I watch that jerk-off flirt with other girls, taking them out.” Sweet Pea shook his head and Fangs looked over at him, “He hits her, SP. I’ve seen the bruises, she’s got marks all over her body. She tries to tell me she’s just clumsy.” Fangs scoffed. "But I know it’s him. It’s that jock prick, Andrews. I want to beat him to a bloody pulp, but I know she’d never forgive me.” Fangs took another drag from his cigarette. “SP, what the hell do I do?”
“I don’t know, I mean…maybe you should just let her go?”
“You know I can’t do that, I think I love her. I know I love her. But how do I get her to choose me over him?”
“Have you told her?”
“Told her what?”
“You just said that you love her. Have you told her that?”
“Nah, man. It’s a waste.”
“I think you should tell her.” Fangs blew out smoke into the cool air.
“I’ll think about it. Thanks SP.” He threw the but of his cigarette to the ground, SP followed suit. “I’m getting the fuck out of here, this movie sucks.”
**
Sweet Pea and Lily sat and watched the rest of the movie before they hit the road. The mood was sort of ruined by the whole Archie and Fangs thing. Sweet Pea felt sorry for Fangs, he was in a real tough situation. The only thing Fangs ever wanted to talk about was how wonderful Trish was. Sweet Pea found it borderline sickening. But he could tell that his best friend was happy, and that made Sweet Pea happy. He was very protective of Fangs, even when they were kids. He was like an annoying little brother to him.
“I feel horrible for Fangs. Did you see the way Archie was talking to him? Why I’d like to give that pompous…jerk a piece of my mind!”
Sweet Pea chuckled. “Got a little bit of fire in you, darlin’.”
“I just wish Trish would wake up and kick Archie to the curb.” Lily let out a frustrated sigh.
They pulled up just before Lily’s house, Sweet Pea got out of the car and opened the car door for her. She climbed out of the car and Sweet Pea closed the door behind her. He leaned against the side of the Ford De Luxe, Lily standing between his legs.
“Sorry our date kinda got ruined.”
“It wasn’t ruined, Pea.” He smiled at the nickname. “I still had a nice time with you.”
“Nice time.” He said to himself. “So does that mean I earned a second date?” Lily smiled up at him, biting her lip.
“Maybe even a third.” She got on her toes and pecked him on the lips. He rested his hands on her hips. He wasn’t ready for her to leave just yet.
He brushed her blonde waves back behind her shoulder. “When can I see you again?”
“School starts next week, so I won’t be around much during the week.”
“What do you have a boyfriend Monday through Friday that you don’t want me to know about?” He teased. She shook his head at him, letting out a small chuckle. “That’s alright, I’ve got some shit I’ve gotta work out this week. Serpent stuff.”
Lily nodded her head. She wanted to ask exactly what this “Serpent stuff” entailed, but decided not to push it. “Well, you know where to find me.” She leaned up to give him a chaste kiss on the lips, her hand momentarily rested on his chest. “Goodnight, Sweet Pea.”
She sauntered toward her house and turned when she reached the door to wave goodbye. He waved back, throwing a wink her way before he climbed back into his car and drove away.
**
Sweet Pea walked into the Wyrm and walked over to the bar. Fangs was passed out drunk in his barstool with a line of empties in front of him.
“He came in about an hour or two ago, he got completely loaded and passed out. That Northsider really did a number on him.” Toni was cleaning up the rest of the bar, wiping down the counter around Fangs and his empty beer bottles.
Toni popped off the cap to a beer and handed it over to Sweet Pea. “Yeah, sure looks like it. Poor bastard’s in love.” He said before taking a swig from the bottle.
Toni raised an eyebrow at Sweet Pea before shaking her head in disbelief. “I guess that’s what he gets for getting involved with a Northside girl.”
Sweet Pea let out a snicker.
“Speaking of Northside girls….How are things going with Little Miss Sunshine?”
Sweet Pea downed another large gulp of beer before answering. “Good.”
“Good? That’s all I get?”
Sweet Pea shrugged his shoulders, his eyes darting around the room for a distraction.
Toni stopped to look at him, she could tell he didn’t want to talk about her. There could only be one reason why. “Oh my god.”
Sweet Pea looked back to Toni, who stood there with a wide, knowing grin that stretched across her face. “What?”
Toni lightly shook her head, “You like her. You really like her.”
“Oh cut the gas, Toni. She’s a nice girl, fun to be around, really cute. But that’s it. That’s where it ends.”
“I think you’re afraid.”
“Am not.”
“You so are! Sweet Pea, she obviously likes you if she voluntarily hangs around your stubborn ass!”
Sweet Pea rolled his eyes, finishing his beer.
“I say, go for it! See where it goes.”
“It would never work, we’re from two completely different sides of the tracks. It’s bad news, T.”
“Well I think you should give it a try. I think this could be good for you.”
Sweet Pea groaned. “What are you my mother?” Sweet Pea stood up from his seat at the bar, throwing a couple bucks on the counter. “Can you make sure he gets home safe? I’ve gotta get to bed. These weekly late night runs are killing me.”
“You’re still doing those moves for the Ghoulies?”
“It’s the only way we can pay them back, it’s not like we’ve got the money upfront. We could’ve been all paid off by now if I didn’t-”
“Sweet Pea. It wasn’t your fault and you know it. Just be careful out there. There’s a lot of tension in this town.”
“Always am.”
