*really big spoilers for the whole series so please don’t read this if you haven’t read the series and are going to*

I Did Something Bad - This one fits obviously because she killed Jason but it’s fine because he was a rapist and a serial killer so he deserved it, but the line “Yeah I did something bad, and it felt so good” Because she said even though it was bad she didn’t regret it (as she shouldn’t)

Vigilante Sh*t - it’s literally pips song “you did some bad things but I’m the worst of them” Jason killed a bunch of people and she was the worst of them and also “I don’t start sh*t but I can tell you how it ends” because she literally solved a murder so yeah oh AND and she also committed one and successfully framed it on someone else so

No Body, No Crime - pretty obvious but whatever~ Sheriff Hawkins also said “She (he in this case) thinks I did it but she (he) just can’t prove it” cause he was fr sus of her but it’s all good bc he is no match for Pip and Ravi’s human sized refrigerator

Run - this song is literally perfect for them “we shouldn’t be in this town” no one should murder town fr and this whole part “there’s a chain round your throat, piece of paper where I wrote, ‘I’ll wait for you’ there’s a key on the chain, there’s a picture in the frame, take it with you and run, run like you’d run from the law” like bffr it’s literally the end of as good as dead

Sparks Fly - I don’t even know but mostly the part where it’s like “meet me in the pouring rain, kiss me on the sidewalk take away the pain” actually happened but the rest of this song is irrelevant cus Ravi is not a bad idea at all

Right Where You Left Me - Sal & Andie ig? I just feel like this fits them even though we don’t know much about their relationship, but based off of what Ravi has said I think Sal is the “girl* who got frozen” because time literally went on for everybody else and he won’t know it- because he’s dead sooo

Better Than Revenge - this isn’t relevant at all to the book but I feel like just because of the title it needs to be on here

This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things - Jason and Andie/Becca’s like relationship with him, kind of because he literally ruined every chance at having comfortable daughters because he was emotionally abusive, not to mention Andie knew he was literally a serial killer

Shake It Off - ok I know this song is kind of hated but just listen to me, “the haters gonna hate” “but baby I’m just gonna shake (x5) it off” is so pip because we all know how much hate she got after posting the podcasts, not to mention after supporting Stanley after his death

Innocent - STANLEY (except for the fact that he is not at all in comparison to Kanye but whatever) “Your string of lights are still bright to me” pip still respected him for who he was after finding out the truth about his past (that was like Ravi level deep)

Illicit Affairs - not meaning this in a like romantic sense at all so don’t come for me but just the “don’t call me kid, don’t call me baby look at this godforsaken mess/idiotic fool that you made me” relates so much to Andie because Jason literally messed her up

Call It What You Want - Pip and Ravi because let’s be honest Ravi is the perfect everything if you disagree you are lying to yourself bc you know you will never get someone as good as Ravi lets be for real

This is Me Trying - Pip because it’s literally perfect for her “I didn’t know if you’d care if I came back, I have a lot of regrets about that” because in the end of as good as dead pip says she is worried that Ravi will have moved on from her which is obvious bs but yk that’s what she thought and basically the rest of the song but I’m lazy

What happened? Are you alright?

not really. to give you a rundown

1. a few weeks ago i was sad that taylor nation didn’t see something i tweeted. and i hadn’t been taking my antidepressants so i was already not doing well. so i tweeted i was sad about it. and bc my twitter has randomly blown up from 2k to 11k, the tweet got attention and i got hate for it. (was it really about being sad about taylor nation? no, but i don’t know how to cope with the real life things i’ve actually been dealing with so i channeled those feelings into something stupid)

2. i noticed some “friends” of mine softblocked me and asked why. never will i make that mistake again. (also, to me my mutuals are my friends… or acquaintances i guess? but my use of the word friend really upset some people)

3. when they ignored me i was sad and tweeted something along the lines of “it sucks when someone you thought was your friend softblocks you” and then also later said it was bringing up memories of when my “friends” were mean in grade school… which it did, like i wasn’t making that up

4. the main person instigating all this really had a field day with that saying it was insane behavior to compare softblocking to bullying etc etc. i blocked

5. days later i made a twitter thread of tour tips answering questions people had. like, questions people were asking me. so i was just responding. the thread blew up so i tweeted “my venmo is xyz /joking” like with the tone indicator joking because it was a joke that everyone does under their hit tweets. a couple people venmoed me a dollar and i was laughing with them about it but sent it back obviously!! but i ended up getting a bunch of hate for that and for the thread. people claimed i was just chasing clout etc. i deleted the venmo part and apologized

6. to me this is the only real thing i did wrong. i tweeted that it was funny to me that i was pissing big name swifties off with my tour thread. i shouldn’t have said that and i am sorry for it but i can’t undo the past. anyways people had a field day with the big name swiftie thing and just saying i preach kindness but i’m actually a huge asshole etc (all of this mainly started by that one person)

7. i thought i had blocked that person but i’ve been periodically going thru and removing our mutual follows to fully cut ties because i’m tired of being harassed by them. at some point i guess i forgot to block them again bc they saw me tweet about the fake taylor nation account today and posted a mean video about it. i said that i was begging them to leave me alone and they responded that they were begging me to shut up.

8. i went private and people were screenshotting my tweets and sending to that person. so id finally had enough so i blocked and also used a third party app to chain block all their followers to remove whoever was following me just to screenshot my tweets and send them to people i’ve blocked. and now everyone and their mom is making fun of me on twitter and that’s what you missed on glee

honestly with the way people are treating me you’d think i committed literal murder or something but no i literally just had the audacity to have feelings and remove a toxic person and their followers from my life. i only did the chain block because i knew that a) the person who was screenshotting my stuff clearly followed both of us and b) i didn’t want to be That Person who is like “everyone please unfollow xyz”

1. i think i don't wanna live forever is one of taylor's best songs.

2. london boy, i think he knows and afterglow just might be the best tracks on lover.

3. safe and sound is one of taylor's best songs, if not her best (this is me being swayed just bc safe and sound tv was released last week)

4. tolerate it is the best track five.

5. 22 is better than dear reader

“Wondering if I dodged a bullet or just lost the love of my life” is such an amazing line.

2. those along with “cruel summer” & “miss americana and the heartbreak prince” or “the archer” (i really just love lover as an album, despite all the depressing songs it makes me so happy and it makes me belive in love again <3 esp after crying to RED (tv) or evermore)

3. safe & sound was one of the first taylor swift songs i learnt on the guitar and i absolutely adore it, while i don’t think it’s necessarily her best song, i think it’s definitely a contender

4. i think tolerate it is definitely her best track 5 (writing and instrumental wise, it was written so so well) but also All Too Well is so so iconic.

i could write nine-page analysis on just the bridge because it is simply the most amazing thing ever.

i think my personal favourite track 5’s are “my tears ricochet” only ‘cause i’m attached to it (long story) and “you’re on your own, kid” because i can relate to it :(

5. i think they’re equal for me, they’re both not my favourites on their respective albums (i’m sorry to anyone screaming at this) but i think on their own they’re pretty good songs.

i think impact-wise, 22 is a more iconic than dear reader for sure.

6. i just spent the last two minutes with my best friend singing both of them to see if they match up, and i see your point.

i personally think getaway car is better than karma though, i don’t dislike karma but getaway car is just so so good.

7. i completely agree, it really sets the tone for lover.

8. i really love both and i really don’t get the slander on question…? because it’s just so good (esp the iconic cheering sounds)

9. i’m sorry but fearless (tv) might be at the bottom 3 taylor swift albums, it’s not that i overly-dislike it, it’s just not my favourite

10. i really love call it what you want and i think it’s so underrated, i think some of the best songs on reputation might be getaway car (i’m biased ‘cause i really just love that song) and new year’s day maybe?

I agree with you and that’s why I think Trav is so good for her. He loves Taylor Swift™️ and did before he knew her as a person but seems crazy into the girl underneath too.

Let me disagree with you here. None of her boyfriends or even us know the full extent of Taylor Swift™️ until they really her in a circle.

Travis loved Taylor the singer, Taylor the superstar just like millions of people do too. That's why swifties liked him right away. He acted like them, like a fan (even though I don't think he was a super fan and knows the deep cuts. Probably only liked the pop songs on the radio).

If Taylor's boyfriends knew the full extent of Taylor Swift™️ I doubt half of them would have touched her with a finger because most seem to actively not like it. And that seems the issue too, when they are in deep of Taylor Swift™️ it's probably too much.

Again, we have just an idea and from an outside perspective we can already see it can't be easy. I can't imagine how much more there must be behind the scenes. Travis for now atleast, seems to be adjusting and ok with that better than most because he quite clearly is a bit of a fame/attention seeker himself (as is his family too).

He wants to be famous, so as of now he seems to love all the Hollywood life. I even remember how everyone loved that he seemed to be shading Joe when someone asked him about the attention and he was like well she deals with it so I better not back down and make it weird

I can't comment much on Taylor the person cause idk her myself and I think Taylor the person gets mixed in and run over by Taylor Swift™️ at times. I also don't know their dynamic. Ofc by now he has seen what she's like when cameras are off and relaxing at home. Is that side as appealing to him as everything else? idk I'm guessing he likes her enough at the very least. And since Taylor always says the previous guy saw the real her like nobody else until a new one comes along and the narrative changes, we'll never really know who "liked the real her". I mean that seemed to be Joe's thing right? He liked her for her, he saw her and understood her without all the Taylor Swift™️ mask. She now probably frames it as no he didn't understand her because he couldn't see she was dying or understand she needed the whole sparkle and PDA back.

And that's probably the angle she's going to go now, Travis easily understands her wanting to shine and kiss in front of everyone and stuff because she wants to normal or something. I would bet a candy bar that's the angle cause Taylor can be very predictable. Ofc swifties eat it up every single time, that's why it works. She's a master at changing the narrative and making all of her relationships seem like meant to be until they end and they all turn into the worst people. Then the next one comes along and the cycle starts all over again. Taylor could convince us a convicted murderer is the love of her life and make us root for them

I liked this until the end because idk man that’s what she believes and as I’ve said before it’d be weird if she didn’t genuinely think she likes her next serious bf more than the last? That’d be weird? Then she should be single fr or at minimum be casual like after Jake. If she’s got a serious bf obviously she thinks he’s the best. Her personality also means when she gets to the end she is often very over it but re Joe she’s never ever called him the worst and I don’t think she thinks he is. She just thinks it didn’t work out and she wasn’t happy anymore so she ended it. Swifties *expected* to hear how he’s the worst but that’s really not what she said at all??? She also didn’t please Joe Widows and mourn him as the love of her life because that relationship was half dead and she killed what remained by ending it. The weird thing is the Matty into Travis of it all. The rest I’m gonna defend her for.

and yeah Trav didn’t fully know what it’d be like but it seems like he’s on board with it and as you say, he likes the attention.

Okay, so non TV fandom related ask but curious to know your ranking of all of Taylor Swift's albums!

OOF OK THIS IS A HARD ONE but thank you so much for the ask anon! I’ve never had to do this before and it’ll definitely be a challenge, but a fun one! Also keep in mind I do like all her albums so even the last place ones are iconic and dear to my heart. Anyway, let’s do it:

*Taylor’s Version for all albums that apply

Folklore: there is not a single song on here that isn’t an absolute banger, 10/10 it’s perfect for spring and summer but also works all year round, convinced this album can do no wrong ✨

Lover: this album never fails to make me feel every single type of happiness. I do have some nitpicky issues with a few songs— like I didn’t love You Need To Calm Down because as someone who’s bi/queer I can say with certainty that homophobia isn’t just a “haters gonna hate” mentality— but honestly Cruel Summer, Daylight, Paper Rings, Lover, they’re all bops that completely make up for it and give you that epic sort of joy when you listen to them. Instant serotonin boost!

*Fearless: honestly I don’t know if this album would have ranked as high for me had there not been a Taylor’s version just because the added songs gave it such an extra pop. Before we knew Red (Taylor’s Version) was coming, this album being remade and expanded was something completely unprecedented and new. It still would have ranked high in my head regardless, because it has so many songs I consider to be quintessential to the early days country Taylor!

Evermore: BEAUTIFUL ALBUM, gorgeous gorgeous girls love Evermore!! only reason it doesn’t rank higher for me is because it makes me cry too much so I have to be in the mood to get emotional (which, in all fairness, most of the time I am)

*Red: again, probably would have ranked Red a little lower had it not been for Taylor’s Version because the dumb ass internet ruined a few of the songs on the original album for me by doing the most traumatizing parodies ever. But then Red (Taylor’s Version) came and Phoebe Bridgers popped in for a duet and Taylor blessed us whth the LEGEND that is All Too Well (10-minute version), so really idk what I’d do with myself if this album DIDN’T exist.

Speak Now: this one is like peak angsty tortured yet epic love, like Haunted and Enchanted and Dear John and Sparks Fly like CMON, if you ever go numb and need to feel something, put this album on. It’s an emotional awakening!! There are some songs on here that I just find a little forgettable, like Innocent or Long Live, but that doesn’t mean they’re not good! I just wouldn’t have remembered them if I hadn’t been listening to the full album to prepare for this post.

Reputation: I feel like people are going to hate me for putting this one so low on my list but don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the songs!! they’re so fucking good! The only issue I have is that when it was released, it was so clouded by the drama of Taylor v. Kim K sparked by Look What You Made Me Do that the press kept pushing, so I just got annoyed and couldn’t fully enjoy the album until years later.

1989: Again, not to say this isn’t a god album, but my main issue with it was that the songs that I liked the best were the ones that weren’t broadcasted as much or weren’t as popular!! It makes complete sense that Shake It Off was the one that became super popular because structurally it was just the perfect formula for a classic, successful pop song: it was fast, upbeat, a theme about shaking off a “hater” that was generic enough to reach a wide audience, a chorus that was three words and easy to remember. Those are the kinds of songs that do really well on radio stations and in the general public which is why so many people who don’t know Taylor Swift’s music all that well still know that she made that song. It was really smart of her to do that actually, but it was definitely the most typically pop of all her albums. You Are In Love and How You Get The Girl were my two favourites though, absolute gems that make me believe in love <3

Taylor Swift: the songs on this album are good but I’m just not a huge country fan (if you ask me if I like country music I will say yes, absolutely, but it’s not my favourite genre by far) so none of them resonated with me as much and especially seeing where Taylor’s skill is now, this one’s really only at the bottom for me because she’s very new and green and inexperienced in this album and it’s audible.

First

She hummed to herself as she wandered through town. She really wished they would have trusted her enough by now to just tell her their hideout location. Even if they were right to be suspicious, they really had no reason to be. She didn’t think she’d be alive if they found out she was working for the bats, so why…?

Marinette was pulled from her thoughts when she saw the henchmen. She calmly put her hands in the pockets of her dress as they approached. Fighting back or running away was useless, considering it was about ten on one and she was still trying to remain mostly unknown, so why bother?

“Hey, fellas!” She chirped.

They didn’t smile or respond, but she was used to that.

What she wasn’t used to was them forcing a bag over her head without giving her tranquilizer. She gave a tiny, confused frown as she was hoisted over someone’s shoulder and carried out into the night.

She felt her feet touch ground and smiled as she pulled the bag off of herself.

A glance around made the difference obvious. Joker wasn’t there. She resisted the urge to pump her fist in the air at the tiny victory.

Harley nearly tackled her in a hug and she rolled her eyes, but still hugged back. “Woo… almost time,” she said with as much cheerfulness as she could muster.

Harley seemed to brush off her hesitance as nerves, as she pressed a kiss to the top of her head and said: “Don’t worry about it, darlin’! Everything's going to plan!”

“Right, so… what is the plan, exactly?”

The Rogues went still. All eyes slowly made their way to Penguin, who gave a small shrug. “Hm... guess I never told her… oops?”

“I thought we all agreed she was trustworthy!” Said Scarecrow.

Penguin gave a small shrug. “Information is power.”

“Not when you’re keeping it from your allies!” Hissed Catwoman.

He shrugged as if to say ‘agree to disagree’. “Joker was right, though, she’s not cut out for murder. Maybe we shouldn’t involve her.”

Crap. There was no way in hell that she was going to screw up this close to the end… she raised her eyebrows teasingly. “Aw, Penguin, is that you trying to care about me? That’s so sweet of you!”

His eyes narrowed slightly. He knew that she was just doing it to annoy him into including her but that didn’t mean it didn’t work: “Of course not! I just don’t want a liability on my team!”

She hummed lightly. “Mhmm, sure. But Joker agreed I wasn’t a liability, so…”

“How would you know that?”

“I’m here, aren’t I?” Marinette smiled. “So, what’s the plan?”

Poison Ivy smiled and walked over to pull out a handy chalkboard. She drew a crude map of the layout of the Wayne Mansion with a bunch of squiggles in the middle of the courtyard to represent all the people. “Right. At eleven-thirty you’re going to portal us inside the house because that doesn’t change. We crash the party and after that… how many portals can you maintain?”

She hesitated. “For more than a few minutes? One set.”

Harley nodded slowly and circled the two gates. “Alright, then we need you to hold up portals by these two main exits so people will have a hard time escaping.”

“Escaping… what?”

Poison Ivy beamed. “We’re going to assassinate every person in a position of power.”

That wouldn’t work unless… She went pale. “But… it’s a masquerade. There’s… how will you tell?”

Please, please, please don’t be saying what she thought they were saying --.

“Everyone there has power of some sort, either politically or economically.” Scarecrow explained. “And if the past few years have proven anything it’s that they aren’t using it right. So: anarchy.”

“But anarchy doesn’t just work like people think it does! Sure, there will be no real laws for a little while, but it’s temporary! It’s a power vacuum! Eventually someone will come along and grab everything.”

“Exactly!” Said Penguin. “And since everyone else will be rather… indisposed, it’s ours!”

Hands came up to rest on her shoulders.

She swallowed thickly and looked away. Her mind found its way to the question he’d asked her when they’d been playing cards. ‘What is it you need?’ She’d given him the answer ‘power’ and this was his appeal to that.

And she’d be lying if she said it wasn’t tempting. She’d never be hurt again, she’d never be weak again. But she wouldn’t give into that temptation. She couldn’t. Couldn’t even pretend to. Because they would give power to her if she asked them to.

And she didn’t know what she’d do.

She pushed his hands away and took a step back. “There are going to be kids at the Gala.”

“Don’t worry, we have a plan to get them out,” said Catwoman, who walked over and slung herself over Marinette’s shoulders. “Why? Scared for your little boy toy?”

Her face warmed and she sighed. “A little, but also for the actual kids. How are we getting them out?”

The woman shrugged against her. “Manually. We’ll all pick them up, give them a bit of money, and send them on their way before we open fire.”

Marinette cringed. “You’re going to ‘send them on their way’? They’re kids! They won’t survive!”

“At least we’re giving them a chance to,” said Scarecrow.

“Besides,” added Penguin. “If they want they can join us as henchmen! Most of the street kids end up that way, anyways.”

She felt bile build in her throat.

She’d hoped, somewhat naively, that with a little bit of work and guidance they could all be good people. Sure, they all had done some horrible stuff, but she’d thought that they were mostly victims who had been manipulated by people who knew what they wanted and how to get it -- like Joker and, to a lesser extent, Penguin. But now… she was forced to confront the fact that, beyond whatever had happened in their lives to make them snap, they were ultimately smart people. They were perfectly aware of what they were doing and were absolutely okay with it. Took joy in it. It would take theoretical years of work for them to ever be fully rehabilitated, and even then she had her doubts it could work.

But then Harley reached out and poked her cheeks up into a smile and gave her such a kind look that Marinette managed to hold onto a scrap of that hope. There had to be some little pieces of humanity left in them, she’d seen them poke through -- they’d been angry when their henchmen had hurt her, they’d decided to spare the children (even if they had to justify it like that). There was still someone in there, some conscience begging to be listened to. And that was enough. She could work with that.

She at least had to try.

Marinette brought a smile to her face, taking Harley’s hands in hers. This was all if the bats won, of course, and though she hoped they would...

She figured she should have a backup plan in place. And if the Rogues won, there were some people who would need her help far more: “Can I have a mansion to help the kids? I don’t like the idea of just leaving them to fend for themselves.”

Harley smiled and squeezed her hands. “Of course! I’m sure Penguin can give you a nice one in his territory.”

Penguin opened his mouth to protest.

The woman’s eyes went cold. “I’m sure Penguin can give you a nice one in his territory,” she repeated.

He let his mouth fall closed and nodded his agreement.

Marinette couldn’t help but laugh. Then she pursed her lips as she mused aloud: “Right, so Penguin is doing this for the money and/or power.”

“Of course.”

“I assume Scarecrow is here for the fear.”

“And the elite status, really,” Scarecrow waved her off.

She nodded. “Noted. Ivy is here for killing the rich.”

“Woo!”

“Riddler…?”

He shrugged. “Is bored.”

“Right. Sorry about that. Wanna do a puzzle together in a minute?” They exchanged smiles and she continued: “Catwoman wants money.”

“Money is good,” the woman agreed.

“And Harley is here for Joker. But why is Joker doing it?”

Harley shrugged calmly. “Why does he do anything? For Batman’s attention.”

“Doesn’t he always have it? The guy could probably walk through town and Batman would show up.”

She gave her a sad smile. “It’s never enough.”

Alright, so today’s the three-year anniversary of Reputation a.k.a the greatest album of all time, my baby, the light of my life, the album that deserved a Grammy (trying desperately not to think about the scene from Miss Americana😭), the album that introduced us to the most beautiful couple ever, the album that shut Kimye up, and I better stop now, or else I’m not gonna shut up.

So in honour of this momentous occasion (and the fact that I reached 200+ followers! Thank you so much you guys!🥺 Love you all 3000💙), here’s a loooooong post on why Reputation is the Ethan and MC album.

Remember back when MC asked for Ethan to get into bed right away during their first time? Ethan told them that he had dreamt about the moment for months, so he wasn’t going to rush it.

Ethan stood by MC’s side throughout the Ethics hearing, when her reputation was completely smeared, and people only saw her as a patient murderer. He didn’t know about the sabotages, but he would’ve definitely supported her if he had known.

This could be from both Ethan and MC’s perspectives. The love they share isn’t something that you get easily. It’s something that MC has waited for her whole life, and something Ethan never knew he needed, but now can’t live without🥺

This was definitely Ethan throughout book 2, after he finally gave in. He let go of his previous rules and regulations, especially during the time of the attack. He was clearly affected, and once MC was alright, his main priority was her, and her alone.

Is the end of all the endings?

With all these nights we're spending

Ethan’s been burnt a lot in the past. But all those wounds are now healing thanks to MC.

Up on the roof with a school girl crush

Drinking beer out of plastic cups

They act like lovesick teenagers around each other, like, that’s literally their description if you choose to kiss Ethan for the first time in Chapter 14 of book 2!😅

Say you fancy me, not fancy stuff

Baby, all at once, this is enough

We all know about his initial fear of his mother reaching out to him for the sake of his money. To him, MC not talking advantage of him is a pretty big deal, even though it’s never mentioned. You just know, you know?🥺

8. Dancing With Our Hands Tied

My, my love had been frozen

Deep blue, but you painted me golden

Again, Ethan doesn’t have the best experience with love. But MC changed that.

I'm a mess, but I'm the mess that you wanted

This could go both ways, cause they’re both piping hot messes😬 (but love each other anyway🥺)

The rest of this song could have made so much more sense for them if we had gotten some sort of a secret relationship storyline. But oh well, I’m definitely not complaining about the gala😌 (and definitely not believing any of the supposed cancelled storylines)

9. Dress

Our secret moments

In a crowded room

They got no idea

About me and you

I mean... pretty obvious😌

Even in my worst times, you could see the best of me

And I woke up just in time

This is practically Ethan’s train of thought, and you can’t convince me otherwise.

MC has always stayed by Ethan’s side, even when he’s pushed her away. These lines perfectly explain how she wants his worst times, and his best, the midnights they spend staying up together, and the moments where it’s just the two of them, when everyone else has left, like the aftermath of a New Years party (still mad at the fact that we didn’t get to see the gang celebrate New Year together😭)

I'll be there if you're the toast of the town babe

Or if you strike out and you're crawling home

The above explanation for these lines as well.

Please don't ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere

Becoming strangers to each other would be their worst nightmares. Knowing that the other was out there in the world somewhere, but not being in their lives would kill them.

You and me forevermore

These two are each other’s soulmate, they know it, even if they haven’t said it yet. Forever wouldn’t be enough for them to shower each other with they love they hold for each other. But it’s a good start.

Reputation is perceived as a dark album, when in reality it’s truly about finding love amongst all the noise. This album, and Taylor and Joe’s story, taught me what true love actually is, and Ethan and MC cemented that. This album and these two couples (quite literally) saved my life.

The most beautiful part about both these relationships is that even though they never showed it openly, for the sake of their relationships, both Ethan(in the story) and Joe stood by the side of the one’s they loved, despite half of the people who they knew hating on them, or betraying them. And I think that’s what’s truly important. Forming a true relationship like that, be it platonic or romantic, is long lasting, and I hope everyone finds those kind of people to fill their hearts with. Sending much love, and sorry for being a huge sap😅💙

I have time now. A day before the last episode. Anyway this is long as hell sorry.

I’m gonna start with Swifty because fuck that little gingerbread man.

Swifty had been tasked to follow Ruby and heard the entire conversation that the immediate Rocks Family had. He heard how Ruby thought Saccharina had the capacity for good and Amethar immediately recoiled at the mere mention of Saccharina having an ‘accident’ (“that’s my daughter!”) on the battlefield. Swifty intentionally left those bits out likely because of the chaos it would cause. He knows Saccharina is very emotional around these people and even since they came into the picture, she’s been changing. Less murdery and more restrained. That gels with literally nothing we know about Swifty.

As for the conversation they had, I’m really happy with how Ruby handled it. She got what she wanted with Caramelinda finally treating her like an adult and she behaved that way. She didn’t jump to conclusions and she thought about Caramelinda’s question. She probably thought about their interactions with Saccharina carefully before saying that she could be good if she was surrounded by better people. And that’s honestly just it! Saccharina clearly amassed followers and kept them somehow without them all killing each other and has done it for years, which means that she is both charismatic enough to solve problems amicably and powerful enough to keep them together. She thinks about what she does before doing them and looks to others to make sure she isn’t going overboard or being risky. Ruby can see that Saccharina is doing these things, but her problem is that she has murdering marauders as her council. That interaction also didn’t completely put her on level with her parents despite what Caramelinda said. Ruby could voice her opinion and they would take them into consideration, but at that end of the day Ruby would still defer to her parents because they’re more experience than she is.

Amethar, like most things, decided it was best not to talk about it at the moment while they were about to go into battle. While there’s a method to his madness, Caramelinda said it best with “The delay of conversation has been, perhaps, your most cardinal sin,” though not quite in the context I’m talking about. And it’s understandable. Amethar is a war guy and delicate conversations never came easy to him. It’s better to just do what needs to be done right at the moment (storming Castle Candy) and leaving it until after. When Saccharina would fully expect to take the throne. And when she would figure out that they knew and didn’t tell her right away when it clearly involved her.

With Caramlinda, I have to admit while I have been the number one advocate of Caramelinda (and, believe me, I still love and understand her), I can’t even fathom what she was thinking suggesting Saccharina have an accident was really going to solve. Caramelinda has lost everything she ever worked for along with her daughter and Lapin and is frantically trying to regain her footing after the one thing she’d been making sure didn’t happen, happens all around her without ever once slowing down. However, just because Saccharina is dangerous doesn’t mean she’s a threat. Saccharina, as far as they had interacted with her, has been very amicable. She’s nice and lends her time and power and energy very generously. Saccharina can be very good, but Caramelinda can’t see that past her own idea of what is best for Candia.

Saccharina’s reaction to what Swifty said is incredicly understandable. From her perspective, Amethar, Caramelinda, and Ruby had found out that Amethar was still rightfully king and plan to kill her so the throne never goes to her. There wasn’t much else she could get from that. And still—still!—she wanted to please them and give them the benefit of the doubt because Swifty is the one who told her. She wanted to make sure that that was their intentions because if not then a fight could be avoided.

And Theo (whose heartfelt agreement with Saccharina about trying so hard and giving so much to people who just don’t appreciate them killed me on the spot!), was coming to their defense at first because he knows these people. He’s known Amethar for a long time and fought together with him and Ruby’s been under his protection literally since she was born. He knows them. At least he thought he did. He thought he knew that Amethar wouldn’t hurt her because family is everything to him. He thought he knew that Ruby was too kind to suggest something so cruel. But when he sees Saccharina standing in front of him, telling her entire truth to him, he has to rethink that. He has to come to terms with that while he serves them, maybe he doesn’t actually know them. Maybe he can’t be sure that family is everything to Amethar because look at how he treats Saccharina. Look at how dismissive and distant he is to her. Maybe he can’t be sure that Ruby isn’t capable of something like that because look at how she seemed to agree with taking out Saccharina. Look at how she kept secrets from the one who protected her through everything. And as he thinks that, he has to come to terms with these facts now laid out before him—a woman telling him nothing but her entire truth and his resurfacing feelings of resentment and Lazuli’s first order to him—and pick a side. And so, he picked a side.

TS7 is finally here!

If you’re like me or any of the millions of Swifties out there, the arrival of this next era is just as exciting as a brand-new bookshelf full of reads you get to experience for the first time.

After listening to the album on repeat all weekend, I decided to celebrate Lover with a book roundup inspired by each of the songs (since it’s the only thing I’ll be listening to for the foreseeable future, don’t @ me.).

ts1989fanatic an interesting perspective well written obviously a swiftie.

1. “I Forgot That You Existed” (Best Friends Forever, by Jennifer Weiner)

You heard it from Taylor first: indifference is the new vengeance. This solid album-opener is upbeat and poppy, a nice contrast with the lyrics about the (final?) end of a broken relationship, friendship (or feud), when you actually forget that the person you once had so much ire for still lives. She transitions from “Your name on my lips, tongue-tied/Free rent, living in my mind” to “forgot that you existed/and I thought that it would kill me, but it didn’t” with ease. But of course, insisting that you forget someone existed while singing about them would introduce interesting tension into any relationship. It reminded me of Jennifer Weiner’s Best Friends Forever, about what happens when a former friend shows up on your doorstep in a crisis, insisting you’re the only one who can help them out of a tight spot (when you’d rather do anything but).

2. “Cruel Summer” (Do You Want to Start a Scandal, by Tessa Dare)

Lyrically and sonically, this is one of my favorites on the entire album (it’s so good it should have been a single!) It’s got an Out of the Woods meets Getaway Car vibe in terms of the melody. Wistful, a bit haunting, but also a total bop. “So cut the headlights, summer’s a knife/I’m always waiting for you just to cut to the bone” describes a low point in Swift’s life (Summer 2016, ugh), juxtaposed with the high of discovering new love. There are so many books I could have picked for this, but “I don’t want to keep secrets just to keep you” reminded me of the Regency romance trope where the heroine has a secret, or finds herself in a situation where her reputation is at stake, but is still tempted by a handsome rogue who might lead her into temptation and true love. (Sound a bit familiar?) Do You Want to Start a Scandal by Tessa Dare feels like the perfect accompaniment to this song about a woman who must prove her innocence in the face of a sullied reputation or be forced to marry a man she doesn’t think she could ever love.

3. “Lover” (Roomies, by Christina Lauren)

The title track (and the one I’ve been singing in the shower for days) is a swoony daydream of a couple in complete harmony, as Swift spins wedding vow-like lyrics such as “With every guitar string scar on my hand/I take this magnetic force of a man to be my…lover/My heart’s been borrowed and yours has been blue/all’s well that end’s well to end up with you/swear to be overdramatic and true/to my…lover.” But Swift is all about balance in her songs, so imagery of keeping up the Christmas lights in “our place” is juxtaposed with suspicion that “everyone who sees you wants you.” This track reminded me of Roomies by Christina Lauren, with its musician main character and the trope of having to share a space while inevitably falling in love.

4. “The Man” (The Whisper Network, by Chandler Baker)

The double-standards between men and women have been explored in songs and novels since both art forms existed. Swift has already confronted the media’s perception of her as a victim, as a girl who goes on too many dates but can’t make them stay, etc. But in “The Man”, she more directly confronts how different she’d be treated if she were the opposite gender. How could I not think of the new thriller The Whisper Network, about a group of women who come forward about their male boss’ behavior of harassment in the workplace. Instead of continuing to suffer in silence, they tell the truth, resulting in an explosive conflict. I sort of saw the ending coming, but was very glad I was right.

5. “The Archer” (Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen)

Another slower, lyric-driven track on the album with gut-punching truths about love, friendship, and holding on to the one who has your heart. “The Archer” is associated with being a Sagittarius (which Swift is), but also her dynamic with the world. “Who could ever leave me, darling?/But who could stay?” is self-aware in a new way for Swift, as is “I never grew up, it’s getting so old” or “I see right through me.” This is one of my favorite tracks on the album, as Swift confronts her cultivated image as both archer and prey of fame and of love. Listening to the rising energy of the track as it builds to a anti-fairy-tale crescendo plus Swift’s lyrics made me think of Pride and Prejudice: Elizabeth Bennet is forced to acknowledge how her own prejudices have made it difficult for others to love her, but that she is deserving of an imperfect love. (And how could “All of my enemies started out friends” not remind you of awful Mr. Wickham?)

6. “I Think He Knows” (The Duke and I, by Julia Quinn)

After a slower song, this heats things up a bit, describing the early sizzle of a relationship before it even starts. For an entire album that sings the praises of a man, I liked the moment in the pre-chorus where she says “He’s so obsessed with me, and boy, I understand.” Own your worth, girl! The bridge was my favorite part of this song (as it often is with Swift; girl knows how to bridge) as it played with tempo and rhyme. “Lyrical smile, indigo eyes, hand on my thigh/We can follow the sparks, I’ll drive.” Swift explores the tension of the moment between seeing someone and initiating contact—songs like these always sting with a bit of danger, too, because the man knows she wants him but neither of them say anything in public about it. She’s whispering in the dark, which gives me serious secret romance vibes. The Duke and I by Julia Quinn is about Simon, who is planning to propose to his BFF’s sister even though he doesn’t actually love her. It’s an arrangement that suits them both, but before they both know it, Daphne is giving Simon serious “I Think he Knows” vibes.

7. “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince” (The Cheerleaders, by Kara Thomas)

If you don’t get the oft-spoken adage that “politics is like high-school,” this song takes the metaphor to the next level. Subtly political but 100% heartbreaking, Swift reimagines the political sphere (and her role in it) as a high school romance, moving from “American glory, faded before me,” painting the democratic 2016 election loss as a ripped-up prom dress (from Miss Americana, who assumed she would win.) Oozing drama and storytelling the way only Swift can, I love the moody elements of the brokenhearted girl contrasted with the new riff on a cheerleading chant (Go Fight Win!). This song is about mourning loss and then finding the strength to say “I know we’re going to win,” but it’s haunting melody and lyrics led me to pick a Cheerleader-inspired thriller. The Cheerleaders is about a string of cheerleaders murdered in a small town five years ago… and just when everyone thinks it’s time to move on, one girl becomes the center of a mystery that never truly died.

8. “Paper Rings” (The Royal We, by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan)

I’m on my fourth listen of the album and this might be my favorite track on it (though that changes minute by minute, with an album as dynamic as this—just to further accentuate the point, by the time of posting this piece, my new favorite might be I Think He Knows?). It’s a totally retro, ’60s style song—a totally fresh sound for Swift, and one that fits perfectly with her new aesthetic. (Makes me wonder why this wasn’t one of the singles released before the record.) It is a gold-mine for Swiftian lyricism, with so many gems I can’t possibly call them all out, and it moves so fast (like a good read) that you both want to cascade over them and pause to hear each line at least 5x before it passes you by. It’s an unabashed love song, relishing in the joy of knowing you’re with the one you love so much that “I like shiny things, but I’d marry you with paper rings”. The line that stuck out the most was “I hate accidents except when we went from friends to this,” which made me think of when Bex Porter goes to Oxford in The Royal We and, completely by accident, falls in love with the heir to the throne.

9. “Cornelia Street” (Passion on Park Avenue, by Lauren Layne)

“Cornelia Street” is sort of the antithesis to I Think He knows. It’s about remembering the early days of a new relationship (“We were a fresh page on the desk/filling in the blanks as we go”) and being more than willing to give up all the good that comes with fresh starts in order to settle into something real. It aches with melancholy, because any time we give something up should be a little sad—but it brims with hope and Swift’s trademarked optimism about love. “I hope I never lose you, hope it never ends/I’d never walk Cornelia Street again/ That’s the kinda heartbreak time could never mend.” I had to pick an NYC-set story for this, like Lauren Layne’s Passion on Park Avenue. The city is another character in the romance between a successful jewelry-business owner and the son of the woman her mother used to work for.

10. “Death By a Thousand Cuts” (Please Don’t Go Before I Get Better, by Madisen Kuhn)

Inspired by the Netflix movie Something Great, this is one of the few sad songs on the record, about a girl going through a breakup who can’t help but linger in happier memories. (For the record: “I dress to kill my time” is genius, as are so many of these lyrics.) Only Swift is so good at pairing such devastating messaging with a pop beat you can’t help but want to sing. This song was the hardest one to pick a book for (especially because it’s already inspired by a movie) so I decided to go with a poetry collection! Please Don’t Go Before I Get Better is all about the aches and sun rays of growing up, told in a staggeringly relatable voice that will make you want to curl up on the couch and cry your eyes out.

11. “London Boy” (Red, White and Royal Blue, by Casey McQuiston)

This is 100% about Joe Alwyn, but also… Taylor dated at least two Brits that we know of before him, so this song is also about what we already knew (“the rumors are true”): she has a penchant for London Boys. Essentially a road map of her favorite places in the city, this indulgent ditty trades “Tennessee Whiskey” for “A gray sky, a rainy cab ride” and of course, her man by her side. Red, White, and Royal Blue is the perfect pick for this song, about two boys who fall in love (after a rough start where they were almost enemies) amidst those gray, rainy skies… but one of them happens to be the son of an American President, and the other, the current Prince of England.

12. “Soon You’ll Get Better (feat. Dixie Chicks)” (Swamplandia! by Karen Russell)

Of all the songs on the album, this one gave me the most vintage Swift vibes. There’s no denying that she is an astonishingly talented songwriter, especially when you listen to what is essentially her greatest fear laid bare on this track with just a bit of guitar and the Dixie Chicks harmonizing in the background. Here, the story shines: Swift’s mother has been sick for a number of years, and while they’ve mostly kept the details of that battle private, this is the most vulnerable moment of love for her mother on an album mostly about finding true love. “Holy orange bottles, each night I pray to you/Desperate people find faith, so now I pray to Jesus, too.” A friend of mine recently lost their mother just after getting married, and it made me marvel at how life often delivers us highs and lows to grapple with simultaneously. While all of this was going on—Kanye and Kim, Joe and London, another world tour, another album—in the background, Swift has been terrified of losing her mother. This song made me think of Swamplandia!, a novel about a young girl living in a gator-wrestling theme park where her mother used to be the main event, until she passed away. Now, in the wake of her death, the girl and her siblings must grapple with their mother’s legacy as a competing business rises up to swallow the success she built on the swamp.

13. “False God” (City of Girls, by Elizabeth Gilbert)

Is that a saxophone in the background of a Taylor Swift song? This slow, jazzy number is all about love and desire—and how we come back to it even when the world around us (and sometimes we, ourselves) put it in jeopardy. “And I can’t talk to you when you’re like this/Staring out the window like I’m not your favorite town/I’m New York City” and other lyrics referencing New York seem to be the grounding force in an otherwise tumultuous relationship. Multiple times on this record Swift has alluded to rough patches in her current happiness, but connection is always the solution to fixing it. She seems to say that if you treat your relationship like it’s your religion, you can get through anything. This is one of the sexier songs on the album, but it’s also got serious NYC vibes, so I’m picking City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert: a novel all about relishing romance in the glitzy 1940’s New York Theater scene, but also how desire can either set us on the road to ruin, or redemption.

14. “You Need to Calm Down” (The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, by Taylor Jenkins Reid)

This song has done what Swift does best: inspire conversation and a bit of controversy. Acknowledging that it was past time for her to be an outspoken ally for the LGBTQIAP+ community, YNTCD tackles the various ways communities are pitted against one another (especially on the internet.) The first verse examines her personal haters (“Say it in the street, that’s a knock-out/But you say it in a Tweet, that’s a cop-out), the second calls out homophobes (“Shade never made anybody less gay”), and the third examines how her relationships with her female contemporaries have often been antagonistic, something she herself has been responsible perpetuating in the past with songs like “Bad Blood” and “Better Than Revenge” (“We all know now, we all got crowns/you need to calm down.”) The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is about a famous actress who hid the great female love of her life behind multiple male partners and uses her platform to tell the truth (all while hiding one last devastating secret). While Taylor herself has not come out as part of the LGBTQ community, she has come out as an ally, and this book made me think about the issues of privacy, platform, allyship, and identity that the song also confronts. If there’s more to the story of Swift’s relationship to the LGBTQIAP+ community, she’s going to share it on her own terms.

15.“Afterglow” (Queenie, by Candice Carty-Williams)

This song ranks high on my favorites from the album, and it’s a rare genre from Swift: the apology song. (The other famous one is Speak Now’s “Back to December.”) In this mid-tempo song with slamming drums and a breathy falsetto, Swift yearns for the partner she pushed away to meet her in the moments after the fight ends. “It’s all me, in my head/I’m the one who burned us down/ but it’s not what I meant,” she insists. There’s still hope here though, as opposed to earlier songs on the record that signal the doom of a friendship or a breakup after-the-fact. Queenie, by Candice Carty-Williams, is a novel about a girl coming to terms with her role in a failed relationship, a career she can’t seem to succeed in, and friends she unknowingly betrays. “Why’d I have to break what I love so much?” is a question asked in this song’s chorus, and one Queenie must answer in order to find real, lasting happiness.

16. “ME! (feat. Brendon Urie)” (Crazy Rich Asians, by Kevin Kwan)

This self-love anthem is bubblegum sweet and full of earworms: the “Shake it Off“ of the TS7 Era. It makes me think of lightning-fast beach reads that you can’t put down and that feel so good to read but also have a deeper meaning to them. Just because it’s not the most lyrically advanced of her songs doesn’t mean this bop doesn’t deserve to be celebrated— it reminded me of how romances constantly get a bad rep (lol, see what I did there?) as somehow lesser than other genres. I love that Taylor doesn’t care about what other people think and is 100% focused on being her authentic self— just like the heroine of Crazy Rich Asians, Rachel Chu. When confronted with the wealth and expectations of her boyfriend Nick’s family (who don’t think she’s good enough for him), she insists it’s her individuality that makes her the perfect partner for him.

17. “It’s Nice to Have a Friend” (This Love Story Will Self-Destruct, by Leslie Cohen)

This track might be my second favorite? It’s so different (Ukulele? Trombone? Is that what I’m hearing?) and such a contrast to the beginning of the album, the opener closes the door on a once meaningful friendship. It’s also a deceiving song, in that I’m still not 100% sure what it’s about. I think Swift is exploring the importance of friendship in all its forms: in childhood (“School bell rings, walk me home”) to adolescence “Something gave you the nerve/to touch my hand”) to romantic love (“Church bells ring, carry me home/rice on the ground looks like snow”). Ultimately, she may be saying that the most important thing about a romantic partner is that they make you feel like you have a friend—when you’re young, the thing that matters most is feeling seen by other people. If your lover is also your best friend, then you know they always have your back. A love story that takes place over two characters’ twenties, This Love Story Will Self-Destruct is about the missteps, betrayals, beautiful moments and connection that forms between two people over a decade.

18. “Daylight” (Evvie Drake Starts Over, by Linda Holmes)

“My love was as cruel as the cities I lived in.” What a way to begin this album closer. Swift’s last tracks have a tradition of being the ones that are most emblematic of her current state of mind, but they also have developed certain themes over time. Renewal, starting over, self-reflection, and hope are all subjects “Daylight” sheds a little light on. She acknowledges past failings (“I wounded the good and trusted the wicked”) and what she wants for the future (“I once believed love would be [burning red]/but it’s golden”). A book that feels like daylight on your skin is what’s needed for this song, and I think Evvie Drake Starts Over is the perfect pick: a story about a woman still grieving the loss of her husband but who finds herself moving on with a former major league baseball player. Both of them have pasts they are healing from, but together, they find hope for the future. “I’ve been sleeping so long in a twenty-year dark night/and now I see daylight.” And, unlike (I think?) any other song in her catalogue, she speaks in the end, not sings, in a direct appeal to her audience. Her very last words are “You are what you love.” Well, I love Taylor Swift. I love a good song lyric to sink my teeth into, or to sing. I love love. And I love a good story, whether it comes from a song or a book, and when you’re done with the album, I hope you find some here.

Cinderella Story by Plain White T's - ugh one of my ultimate heartbreak angst anthems. Prime lyric: I can't help but feel a little upset about the things you and I never had

Falling Down by Oasis - Look. I have 5,680 songs on my ipod. I'm unfamiliar with SO much of my music library because my version of music discovery is buying CDs with one song I like on 'em. But listening to this? It's fucking rad and I guess I'll have to listen to this whole album later on today. I bought it for The Shock of the Lightning and mostly listen to I'm Outta Time, but I guess I've beeing ~missing out!~

All These Things by Darren Hanlon - Mr. Darren Hanlon has been ruining my life with his music for several years now and I love him and his work SO MUCH. This is one his happier songs and it's so bouncy and light. His lyrics are clever and goofy. I just........LOVE

Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen - A perfect encapsulation of those heady crushes you'd get as a teenager where you'd go WILD with emotions! I say that as if that's not how every ~adult crush~ including my current relationship has gone, but I digress! It swings, WOO WOO

Wish You Well by Bernard Fanning - Guitar at the beginning yessss I love. The whole album is fantastic. The vocal runs in this song in particular are SO fun for shower and car singing. An Lyric: Rolling fog into my room, why'd you give up on me so soon?

All Too Well by Taylor Swift - I have many Swiftie mutuals. I wasn't more than a casual listener of hers until reputation came out. My aforementioned mutuals have been screaming praises about this song and the lyrics and the mystique of the "10-minute version" for years. I never understood it until I elected to listen to all of her albums. This song WRECKED ME and I cried to it on the way home from work several times over the course of a month or two because Josh and I were having issues and I'm dramatic. This song is so worth the hype. MAYBE WE GOT LOST IN TRANSLATION. THERE WE ARE AGAIN, AND I LOVED YOU SO. Kill me!!! Also anybody who says Red doesn't have country music influences at all can suck a sour one because this song ALONE clearly does.

My Everything by Owl City - I downloaded the whole album this is off of and like honestly? I have to laugh. It's too religious, which in all fairness, Adam Young is a dedicated Christian and makes beautiful religious pop songs. But I was thinking I'd be getting lyrics like his older stuff because I don't keep up with him. That aside, it's a really lovely worship song and one I would have loved to do when I was in my youth group's worship band in high school. Harmonies to die for.

Can't Slow Down by Jean-Yves Thibaudet - This is from the Pride & Prejudice (2005) score, and I believe it's from a scene in the first ball (before the one at Netherfield). It's light, airy, exuberant, and so pleasing to the ear! It's my sister's current phone alarm, so I get to hear it each morning and whenever she naps in the afternoons or evenings. No complaints there.

I Can Make You Happy by Davy Jones - Josh has an album of songs used in Scooby-Doo, and this is one of them. The whole album is just like murderously nostalgic and great. I've never actually listened to this particular song, but it's so peppy and cute! And I love Davy Jones. He was the singer for The Monkees, his voice is comfort food for the soul, and he was adorable and I totally would have been in love with him if he was bit during my childhood.

Unforgetful You by Jars of Clay - QUINTESSENTIAL ALTERNATIVE CHRISTIAN SOFT ROCK! They're so fucking good and jammy. I've never listened to this song (like I said, huge music library), but it'd make a nice summer running song.

I stuffed everything I needed into a huge bag and hauled it all the way to the their dorm. Mingyu was the one who answered the door and led me inside.

“Hey, how is he?” I ask and he lets out a sigh.

“Not any better since you left earlier.”

The concert was hours ago and after getting a cast on Vernon’s ankle, they had returned to the dorms while I went back home to get some necessities. One minute he was fine, having the time of his life on stage, and then the next he was limping. I knew something was wrong from the very moment he stumbled backwards. Jun had helped him down from the stage and he let out a pained cry afterwards.

Thank goodness it was just a sprained ankle and nothing too serious, I was scared to death. There was still two more days left for the concert.

From the ride to the hospital and back, Vernon didn't say a word unless he needed to. We all tried talking to him, telling him that it was okay, it wasn't his fault but he just wouldn't listen.

“He went straight to his room when we got here,” explains Mingyu as he helped carry the huge bag I brought with me. “He’s probably beating himself up for it. Maybe you could get to him. Seungkwan is in there with him now but I don't think he's getting anywhere.”

My heart was hurting for my boy. Vernon does this thing where he usually blocks everyone out and locks himself in his room. He refuses to talk to anyone and it may seem like he's fine but deep down he’s probably blaming himself.

“I'll see what I can do.” I say as I walk up to his door, knocking before entering. Upon entering I find Seungkwan leaned up against the wall with his phone in his lap.

He greets me with smile and then points to the boy laying under the covers.

“He’s sleeping,” Seungkwan whispers. He gets up and offers me a gentle smile. He rubs my arm as if saying “good luck" and then swifty walks out. I place my bag by the door along with my blankets and walk over to Vernon’s bed.

Sighing, I sit down next to him, “Alright, you can get up now.” He couldn't fool me.

He slowly pulls off the covers but doesn't meet my eyes. “Why are you here?”

“Should I leave then?”

“No,” came his instant reply.

“Are you going to be like this?”

“Like what?” he huffs and pulls the covers back over him.

“Heyyy,” I whine. “Come on. Don't be like this!” I pull the covers back off him and he lets out another huff. “It's not your fault Hansol. You didn't mean for anything to happen. It was just an accident.”

He sits up, his back leaning against the headboard, “Yeah but because of my carelessness, the members have to suffer and so does the staff.” Gosh, he was really blaming himself and sulking. This isn't going to do it.

“Okay, get up! Wait nevermind.” I laugh at myself because for a second I forgot he was injured. “We’re going to get you changed and then watch all your favorite movies!” I pull him by the arm to fully sit him up.

“Okay, okay, I can still do things by myself,” he whines. “I’m not a baby.”

“Well you sure are acting like one. Now hurry up.” I push him slightly to urge him to get up and he stands up reluctantly, not putting too much weight on his right leg. He blinks a few times at me and the tinted red hue on his cheeks did not go unnoticed. I swear I almost burst into a fit of laughter if it wasn’t for him feeling so down.

“Chwe Hansol, are you seriously getting shy?”

“Yah, I can’t change while you’re here.”

“It’s not like I haven’t seen you shirtless before.” I gave him a playful eyeroll and turned towards the corner of the room. “Okay, happy now? Hurry up! I want to watch Finding Dory!”

After a few minutes of shuffling around with his clothes, I hear him sit down on his bed and turn to find him sitting on the end of the bed with his head down. This was not the Chwe Hansol I know, he was so upset at himself and it hurt to see him like this. I had to get him to talk about this or he would be sulking for a while.

“Hey,” I softly say as I walk over to him. He welcomes me with open arms and I stood in between his legs, his head resting on my stomach and arms around me. I ran my fingers through his blonde locks while quietly asking the man upstairs to please protect this boy forever.

I gave him a gentle squeeze letting him know that I was here and I wasn’t going to leave him.

“Don’t be so hard on yourself.” I sooth.

“I know..but I can’t help but to feel so sorry for my members. We’re having our come back soon and who knows if I’ll be okay by then. I can’t even practice with them, I’ll be sitting in the dorms all day. I-”

“Hey, look at me,” I grab the bottom of his chin and made him look at me. He pouts and I couldn’t resist but to give him a small peck on his cute little lips. “You are Chwe Hansol. Your members don’t blame you at all and you shouldn’t too! They just want you to recover soon and so do I. I want to see you resting and getting better so you can go out there and be the bad Vernon that I know. The one who murders and owns the stage. From here on out, I don’t want to see you sad or upset at yourself anymore okay? I have eyes everywhere.”

“Dammit Seungkwan,” he huffs. I laugh at the upset boy and pinch his cheeks. “My baby. You’re so cute. No more being upset and blaming yourself okay?” He nods and hugs me closer to him. “Alright, you win, no more. I promise.”

“Okay, good! Come on, let’s watch movies all night! I even bought pizza and stole some candy from my mom’s candy stash! I risked my life for it so you can’t say no.”

He laughs for the very time that night and it felt so good to hear it. He lets me go and makes himself comfortable on the bed while I get everything together and set up the movie for us. I place a pillow under his ankle to elevate it and grab extra blankets just in case he needs them. I placed another pillow behind his back so it wouldn’t hurt while sitting against the wall.

I set the pizza in between us and climb onto the bed next to him. He rests his head on my shoulder and reaches for my hand to intertwine our fingers together. Its little moments like these that makes me fall more in love with him. I give his hand a tight squeeze as he snuggles closer, his face buried in the crook of my neck.

“You were born to love me weren’t you?” He quietly ask after a while. He lets go of my hand and faces me.

“Of course, that’s why I’m here!” His whole demeanor seemed to change from before. He seemed much more happier as he flashes me one of his breathtaking smiles.

“Thank you for being here with me and taking care of me.”

“You are very welcome.”

He looks away shyly and reaches for my hand again, interlocking our fingers again.

“Can you feed me my pizza now?” He whines. “It’s getting cold.”

I let out a hearty laugh, “Anything for you my big baby.”
