Fanart Friday #21: Synfig Studio

The premise here was to show what my various art programs look like on the grid, using the programs themselves.

Animation time!

Definitely didn't take hours to set up because Synfig kept freaking out and error-ing random images and I had to restart because it wanted to pretend the images didn't exist in the folder they most definitely were in specifically for this project :)

I've decided an Idle loop for the sky and clouds, and I'll Inochi2d animate my boys.

learning how to use synfig to make vector animations!! (heard that it produces similar stuff to what you were able to make with adobe flash, and vectors have always intrigued me)

it has a bit of a learning curve imo, with the fact that its so obscure that theres few tutorials in english (from what i could find at least) and also that it crashes every once in a while, but i think im sorta getting the hang of it??? so heres this animation of a girl blinking. maybe shes got something in her eyes. in all seriousness though, look how goddamn SMOOTH it looks!!!!!! hopefully i learn more of this so i can do even more complex stuff.......

Some crashing issues and a lot of back and forth to find timing and number of frames I should make it so it loops like I want. Apparently that means 10,000 frames minimum

I am struggling with how I want the "twinkle" stars to go, I'll probably restart that again, but that's all part of the process, I guess.

those sprites for those Super paper mario ocs you made are so good omg! what program did you use to make those animated sprites? they seriously look like they could be in game

The actual pieces of the characters were made in Inkscape, exported as a bunch of itty bitty pngs, and then were animated with Synfig.
