Working on my query letter

Hi everyone! I've been sitting on the first draft of my query letter, and I was wondering if ya'll could help me out. Does the letter below sound intriguing, or something that would potentially get the attention of a literary agent? Is it something that you would find interesting to read?? Are there any changes / phrasings you'd rework? Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated! (please don't be too mean though) ~~~~~~~<*<*<#>*>*>~~~~~~~

Ronnie and Nathan Hollick both have a powerful secret: they are Syniae, magical creatures whose power stems from the visual manifestations of music. The only problem is, the Syniae and all their knowledge were supposedly wiped out several thousand years ago, and there is no help or guidance for controlling their powers.

Nathan chooses the life of hedonistic modernity in the glittering city of Stanrall, where all aspects of life are automated, and being a Synia is punishable by death. His magic is the least of his worries, however, as far more intimate games are afoot.

Ronnie is forced to live in her father’s home country, where technology is abhorred and the long-dead Syniae are worshipped as gods. As she adjusts to an entirely new culture, she learns how to hone her powers, as well as discern who is truly friend, and who wants to use her for their own ends.

Follow the lives of these two siblings as they learn what it means to be a Synia, the limits of what they are capable of, and the dangerous risks if they push their abilities too far.

Synia (approximately 367,000 words) is a sci-fantasy saga that covers approximately twelve years in the fictional world of Balrys. This book will appeal to readers who enjoy exploring new environments, separate but intermingling timelines, and going on adventures of discovery, both internal and external. There is also capacity for this book to be split into a trilogy if necessary, as well as the potential for both prequels and sequels in this universe.

I have synesthesia, which is what my magic system is based on and where the term “Synia” is derived from. I wanted to answer the question: “What if synesthesia was a super power?”

I also wanted to explore the concept of duality, showing how characters with similar abilities and challenges can have vastly different results depending on their environment.

OC Favorites – Tag Game

For this game, I think I’m going to choose Nathan. Ronnie’s life doesn’t allow for too much exploration into hobbies because she’s dealing with other stuff, but Nathan’s got time to play around.

Favourite colour: Growing up, he was always partial to navy blue. In fact, when his parents saved up enough money to allow him to paint his side of the bedroom, that was the first and only color he thought of. But as began to enjoy adulthood, he began to prefer more of an olive green.

Shoe choice: When he was a kid, it was pretty much whatever shoes the Clothing Stipend allowed for, and he wore them until they fell apart. Once he started living in the City, however, Victoria and Lara forced him to expand his wardrobe. Now, he has shoes for all occasions, though he still prefers to stick to his well-worn sneakers if given the choice.

Season: He loves Shadow-Season (winter equivalent). His birthday falls during this time, and all the best changes in his life occurred around then as well.

Animal: He loves birds. When he was a kid, he would fantasize about soaring over the landscape, looking downward at the tiny buildings below.

Pastime: Designing architecture. Given his gift (and his powers), he has a natural affinity for designing unique buildings the world has never seen before. Of course, he’s always listening to music while he works. You know, for inspiration.

the funny thing is like, aya isn't even close to my most fucked up vile oc like. in most universes she's not even bad, it's just the one version of her people know is just The Worst-

this guy though, Juniji (i think? idk, like i've only ever drawn him 3 times and have given him a different design each time cjfnxk-)? he sucks SO HARD. he's so fucked up and evil and not even in a fun way, he SUCKS.

Who Inspired your OC:

So her abilities are inspired by my own synesthesia, and her name is based on Ronnie James Dio (the most colorful songwriter I know), and Hollick, which means “of gray hair”.

A Song to Describe your OC:

Man, this one is tough. How about “Invincible” by Pat Benatar?

If you met your OC on the street, how would they interact?

Honestly, Ronnie probably wouldn’t notice anyone walking down the street. She works way too hard to not be noticed and get to her final destination. The only time you’d probably interact is if she’s bartering for food or shelter.

Could your OC be your best friend? Why?

I don’t think so, but that’s a failing on my end, not on hers. That said, she is my constant companion, and I care very much about her.

One adjective and one noun to describe my OC:
