it is... not great... to call judaism abrahamic. i agree with your tags on that post for the most part, but please do not use the term abrahamic - it is considered dated & reductive. same with "judeo-christian"

I've deffinitly heard that about the term judeo-christian, esp as usually that one just means Christian, with a bit of lip service to Christianitys origin out of Judaism

Is there an alternative for talking about the three main religions that are considered to originate from Abraham? Obviously if you're talking about one in particular you should just say Judaism/Christianity/Islam but in discussions about all three and how they relate to one another and shared origin within the line of Abrham what is the alternative to Abrhamic?

Should it just be discussed as Judaism, Christianity and Islam mentioned separately, or worded more like I said above as "religions beggining with Abraham"?

From the Christian perspective, Judaism and Christianity are both religions starting with Abraham. From the Jewish perspective, Judaism starts with Abraham, and Christianity starts with Jesus. From the Christian perspective, Judaism and Christianity have the same god, but Jews don't believe Christ was the messiah. From the Jewish perspective, the Jewish god and the Christian god are incompatible even in the most basic levels. So, it depends on who you're talking about, I suppose

Ahh, see I would not have thought to word it like two seperate origin points.

Obviously Jesus is where Christianity diverged and went on to become its own thing (esp after being taken up as the official religion of the Roman empire and spread through Europe) but it was always emphasized in my religious studies as a young'un that Jesus was a Jewish man.

I've seen discussion on the differences between the way God is portrayed in Jewish scripture vs Christian, and that the difference is great enough that some people theorize they can't be the same deity. Not entirely sure what I believe about that (but also my ideas about it don't necessarily mesh with any of those religions) other than an understanding that there's a few thousand years of ideas changing and morphing in that area of the world due to various amounts of political/social/resource issues as well as interactions with other religions that existed prior/along side Judaism and later Christianity and Islam
