So if Arkham Knight Jason kidnapped Darling not just out of a desire to be with them again but to also protect them from the war zone Gotham will be, how do you think he’d respond if darling was like, “Alright you kidnapped me to save me from the impending danger but what about my friends? My family? 🤨 You gonna save them too or is it just me?”

I like to imagine that a pre-Arkham Knight Jason wouldn’t have been really cordial with darling’s friends. He wouldn’t be outright rude or hostile to them, but if it’s a yandere Jason we’re talking about he might resent them for monopolizing darling’s time/would be suspicious that some of them like darling more than a friend. As for darling’s family, if they are on good terms with their family then Jason will be as well. After all, those are his future-in-laws…

But Arkham Knight Jason might be hesitant on giving his darling’s friends and family the same protection and care he gave darling. Maybe he’ll give them a tip to leave Gotham before all hell breaks loose, but having a bunch of civilians running around his base (darling is always an exception) isn’t very safe.

Tbf in Arkham Knight, the city is entirely evacuated except for the rogues, the GCPD, and the Batfam. Scarecrow orchestrates the fear gas attack at Pauli's Diner and warns that on Halloween he's turning loose the same thing on all of Gotham. So I think Jason's schedule is: kidnap Darling, release the gas at Pauli's Diner at least a week later, make final prep while everyone evacuates, start the plan, kidnap Barbara when shit goes south, and the rest of the night is him basically doing it live lmao.

He only keeps Darling with him because he's selfish and has been so deprived from them that on the night he finally reveals himself to Bruce, he wants them to be the first one he shows his face to. Having them with him technically puts them in MORE danger than evacuating, but he's so desperate to be with them again that he takes them and tries to minimize the risk to them as much as possible. Hence, the bunker and them being locked in there.

Now he'd be kidnapping them at least a week before the Pauli's Diner incident because he needs a minimum amount of time to spend with them before Halloween night. He knows he's going to be busy dealing with Batman and the other rogues, but he wants time to just be with Darling before all that. And during Halloween night, he's constantly checking in and making sure his trusted team are keeping them locked down and safe. The instant someone even THINKS they're compromised or that Batman (or another rogue trying to use Darling as a bargaining chip) shows up, he needs to know.

Like gameplay wise, I would have Darling's disappearance being investigated as a side mission during the game. Batman doesn't necessarily have to take Darling from Jason, and by the end of the game Jason and Darling have both disappeared together. But one of the hints the Knight is Jason can be that Darling's disappearance is linked to the Arkham Knight, and Batman wonders why since they're only tangentially related to him. Kidnapping Barbara/Oracle makes sense tactically. But why Darling?

Bonus points: when Bruce does find them and try to get them to safety, they don't want to leave Jason. They already lost him once, and even if his plan for revenge is too much and is getting people killed...They can't abandon him, can they? He hasn't hurt them--well, not on purpose, he just had the armor on and he grabbed them. And they did tell him to stop when he first took them and started taking off their clothes, but that was because he hadn't explained ANYTHING about how he was alive yet! And they tried to escape, but when Jason had dragged them back...he looked so scared that he'd almost lost them again. It's not the right way to keep them with him, but if they DO leave it'll break him more than he's already broken. He needs them there!

And Bruce just gets angrier and angrier the more he hears. His protege, his de facto son, has fallen so far and he feels responsible for everything Jason has done since Joker kidnapped him. Jason's Darling has a few bruises matching what they'd described, plus a tracking ring AND collar (if it detects Darling leaving the compound, Jason has to either input a shutdown code or it immediately injects them with a relaxant to render them unconscious and alerts the nearest militia members to their location).

And once Jason discovers Bruce is with Darling and also trying to get them out, he flips his shit. Like yelling for Scarecrow to get away from Barbara and insisting that anyone who touches her is a dead man was NOTHING. Even if it isn't Bruce/Bruce has Dick or Tim with him, Jason isn't holding back and will throw everything he has to get them to back off and leave Darling with him. He doesn't want to kill Dick if he doesn't have to, but losing Darling is a line that can't be crossed. As for Tim, this already adds to a VERY negative relationship with Jason lmao. Like you replace me as Robin AND you try to steal my loved ones? Fuck you dude.

Jason can also confront and taunt Bruce by pointing out that if he had looked into Darling's disappearance sooner, he might've figured out who the Knight was before the plan even started.

"You know, when I took them, they told me that you'd said you'd keep an eye on them. You remember that? At my funeral. You refused to let them see the footage of Joker shooting me because 'It would be too traumatizing.' Just trying to look out for them, even if it was just out of pity for your old sidekick's girlfriend. What a protector.

And yet when I took them, you didn't even bother to look. Let me guess--you had other important things to do first? Were you too busy trying to find a cure for your blood, or maybe you were too focused on the aftermath of Joker dying. Funny how he always takes priority even after he died. Maybe you could have outsourced her disappearance to Dick, Barb, or even my replacement. Or maybe you never did care about them. Wouldn't be the first time, right? And now that you abandoned them, like you did me, I'll be here to do what you couldn't and watch over them."

Grim Info Compilation part 13: Food (pt2)

Grim doesn’t seem to have a particular preference for one type of food over any others, equally excited about fruits, vegetables and meat, saying, “I’d eat fruit every day if I could afford ‘em on our lousy budget.”

We also see Grim excited about ice cream, bread, coconut milk, lemonade, apples, sandwiches, eggs, tarts, chicken, doughnuts, pudding, churros, and grass.

But he may enjoy tuna more than anything, accepting a can of tuna in exchange for performing a dangerous task for Azul, asking for tuna as payment for photos during Halloween and having the prefect promise him tuna in exchange for his cooperation in the Prologue.

Grim says that if he had magic like Trey’s he would be eating canned tuna for every meal and often refers to the VDC as his opportunity for a “tuna bonanza” during Book 5.

During the Playfulland event Lilia struggles to keep Grim from leaping out during a ride to eat tuna fish, and Grim successfully bites one in another attraction.

Leona has him physically restrained and carried away by Jack, Kalim and the prefect to keep him from eating the fish.

Grim is a member of the Gastronomy Club, and he says that “eating stuff like looks edible is a legitimate Gastronomy Club activity.”

We get more detail in the novel, where we learn that Grim founded the Gastronomy Club himself after all he wanted to do was eat and all the clubs tangentially related to food refused his application. Grim is often complaining about being hungry, as seen in Firelit Sky, Harveston, Vargas Camp and Book 1 through 6.

Multiple characters comment on how much Grim eats, with Jade, Deuce, Riddle and Idia all commenting on how he has a one-track mind when it comes to food.

While Grim will eat at every opportunity he can become full, eating too much during Firelit Sky and Book 4.

Smth only tangentially related that I've been meaning to post for a while: I've noticed lately just how much ableist rhetoric is Totally Okay to use in jokes on here as long as its directed at autistic people and/or people with ADHD because "this is the autism website" or whatever. I think people spend so much time in very specific small circles that they forget that like, these are actual disabilities that affect people in real life and making fun of them is still ableism. Mockery of social behaviors like "not being able to order your own food as an adult", mockery of light sensitivity, mockery of tone tags, culminating quite beautifully really with that qrt of a tweet about ADHD with "omg you people can't do anything" (a post whose notes are full of people "well I have ADHD and I can do-" as if that's not recognized as the most useless form of "advice" for disabled people. Not everyone is you). And I don't really care if these are "jokes" made by other neurodivergent/disabled people, they still downplay people's experiences and are just based in being MEAN to an extremely vulnerable group of people who have to go through so much already. Idk I've never really found any of it funny and at this point I refuse to partake in any of it. I <3 being unable to order my own food and getting overstimulated on Halloween and you're just going to have to deal with it

I’ve noticed a lot of Wolfstar fics ignore that Sirius and Remus truly and fully believed the other was a spy. Remus was unaware of the switch because Sirius (and likely James and Lily as well since this whole thing would be their decision as the ones actually affected by it) did not believe Remus could be trusted. Remus spends 12 years wholeheartedly believing Sirius betrayed everyone he claimed to care about and everything he believed in, only changing his mind upon spotting Peter on the map; up until that point, Remus believed Sirius was guilty. I can’t recall off the top of my head if they ever say if Remus also suspected Sirius of being the spy in the First War or if it only happened post-Halloween, but it is entirely possible he did (which would help explain why James goes along with keeping Remus ignorant of the switch. If Remus has fallen so far to distrust Sirius and believe Sirius could ever hurt James, then I could see James thinking Remus never knew either of them at all). Regardless, I’ve never really seen Wolfstar fics address that Sirius and Remus did not have any faith in each other with the First War

(Tangentially related, do you know if they say if Remus distrusted Sirius during the war or if it was only after that Halloween?)

the distrust is a MASSIVE part of remus and sirius' dynamic and i think the fact that they could be part of a close group at school and still suspect each other of murderous and extremist ideals is HUGE. it suggests to me that they were never really that close or that their trust of each other was on the floor - or both. you don't just know someone for seven years and think "yeah they're probably spying for the other side" if you have a generally good relationship. especially if you're suspecting a friend over other members in the order that you don't know as well. this is why wolfstar, especially hogwarts or first war wolfstar, is absolutely wild to me. it crumbles. there's nothing to stick it together. i'm open to like a complex friendship between remus and sirius (because that's what it was) but there's quite an easy to reach line of how far their actual intimacy and endurance of each other's company goes.

and yeah, remus CONTINUING to believe that sirius betrayed james for thirteen years is another layer to this. i can see why he would, given the supposed evidence. but he didn't once question it? also remus perpetuates james and sirius' closeness when he talks about their teenage years so it's extreme to see and acknowledge that kind of bond and to still think that sirius would betray james. like how low is his estimation of sirius? i know that sirius and remus get on post-poa but i really think thats an "everyone else is dead or a death eater" situation. they're united in their lost years post james' death but i think they're still very much personal versions of that loss that they don't resolve or deal with together.

i don't think that james or lily directly suspected remus or truly believed he was a death eater but i think james definitely trusted sirius enough to go with his word, and i don't think either of them would be like "i trust him 100%" but i also don't think they'd be as far convinced that he was the spy as sirius was. i just think that they unequivocally trusted sirius and they put their son first.

also yes, this exchange in poa suggests it was a mutual suspicion at the same time during the war but it's not as explicit or as established as sirius' distrust of remus (which stands alone even if remus never suspected sirius imo):

"Remus!" Pettigrew squeaked, turning to Lupin instead, writhing imploringly in front of him. "You don't believe this, wouldn't Sirius have told you they'd changed the plan?" "Not if he thought I was the spy, Peter," said Lupin. "I assume that's why you didn't tell me, Sirius?" he said casually over Pettigrews head. "Forgive me, Remus," said Black. "Not at all, Padfoot, old friend," said Lupin, who was now rolling up his sleeves. "And will you, in turn, forgive me for believing you were the spy?"

the use of 'the spy' is significant here i think because remus wouldn't have believed that sirius was the spy if he had had no suspicion towards him prior to halloween 1981, he would have said 'traitor' or 'for believing you betrayed james and lily'. 'spy' suggests a longer standing trajectory of suspicion.

so maybe remus had a hint of suspicion that he felt was vindicated when james and lily died or maybe it was fully realised but i always got the impression that remus was more distant from sirius & james (and lily) post-hogwarts and this distance let things fester. idk whether i got this from suggestions in the text tho or whether i just think that's a likely occurrence that allows for james to go along with the suggestion that remus might not be completely trustworthy.

Hi so I had ✨️thoughts✨️ on a concept for a stf episode/scenario/etc that I remembered tangentially related to your Papa story (so good btw) (also this may end up being long I'm so sorry)

It'd most likely be something geared towards an older audience (like not kindergartners lol, something for the spinoff whenever that happens maybe? Idk what the target audience for it will be considering we dont know anything about it) and framed as either a Father's Day or Halloween episode (I don't think we got any Father's day eps other than the one episode I hate with a burning passion)

Basically, Sofia is going through her things and finds something of Birk's, whether it be some sort of sailing gear or clothing or a gift or an image of them together (idk it could be anything, we know borderline nothing about this man) and she's hit with what I'm going to call the Rose Quartz effect. Missing a parent who you barely/don't know, having unanswered questions that won't/can't be answered, having all these conflicting feelings about this one person and feeling all of them yet none of them at the same time. Losing a parent at such a young age is rough and was just the tip on the iceberg of Sofia growing up far faster than she needed to.

Where am I going with this? Well, because of all of these unanswered questions and difficult emotions, Sofia wants to talk to her deceased father. Ghosts exist canonically in the series, who's to say they can't be summoned? Maybe she gets help from Cedric, or she finds a book on her own, or maybe she even gets help from Lucinda and the witches or that one ghost from the Ghostly Gala episode who's name I can't remember but I definitely had a crush on as a kid.

The main conflict of the episode would probably be all of these internal conflicting desires for Sofia, possibly also Miranda's own feelings about her belated husband (is this how you use belated? Idk lol).

Regardless of how it happens, the episode ends/has its final act with Sofia summoning her father, Birk. He sees how much his little girl has grown up, how brave and kind and smart she is. She gets to see and say goodbye to her father a final time and get proper closure. Maybe throw in a line or two there from Birk on just how grown up Sofia is, almost (definitely) too grown up for a pre-teen/adolescent girl.

The message of the episode would probably be something about grief and the process of it all, how it's okay to be angry that someone you love is gone, how talking about it opens old wounds but helps to heal them. It's bittersweet.

But yeah definitely not something suited for what the original demographic for stf was. Of course important to talk about, but with what I'm talking about it'd probably go over such young heads.

This is such a good idea for an episode!

I agree that Birk would be disheartened at how grown up Sofia is, obviously he'd know she's grown since she was five, but she's too far ahead, and not in the natural way that some children just emotionally mature quicker than their peers.

I think even though it's been a long time and Sofia doesn't really have anything to miss as she hardly knows life with him, she still really misses Birk, like I said in chapter two of "Papa..." some days she just wants to be by herself and lay in bed grieving him. I wish the show brought it up, especially for the potential children watching who lost one of their parents like Sofia. This would be a really good episode for that reason alone, honestly.

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if this spin off went a more mature route, considering how a good deal of the fans are teens and adults, and there's going to be people watching who grew up on the show and are now older just out of curiosity. If I remember rightly something similar happened with miraculous ladybug, they started making the episodes more mature after the creators realised the main audience was teens and adults, not their original target audience. I've seen Craig interact with lots of older fans so he definitely knows they're a big audience!

Ah dang, it's November already? Incredible. Very inconsiderate of linear time to keep progressing this way.

Anyway, this blog will continue to be slow for a while; I got hit with two devastating back-to-back family losses and then immediately afterwards got sick. So, mental energy reserves at the moment are pretty tapped. Which is very frustrating! because I know exactly what I want to write but I have no juice in the tank to write it. Instead I have been drawing blorbo self care.

On the other hand, I've been doing a lot of informative background reading; Radetzky March by Joseph Roth, Der Rote Kampflieger and a early aviation history stuff, a lot of essays. Plus, I've been catching up with the original U.C. Gundam timeline, which I've been meaning to do since FOREVER. All good things to put in the brain that happen to be tangentially related to GW, for the fixation must feed.

Every time I see new notes and commentary on here I am filled with delight and excitement that people are actually finding my stuff even when I'm not posting. I am also predictably consumed with anxiety about all my less polished entries, frantically editing things behind the scenes knowing full well that this is a futile endeavor for the mistakes have already been immortalized in reblogs... Such is the way.

I hope those who partake had a magnificent Halloween, and that the rest of the year will be kind to you. I know the world is especially violent at present.
