I want to write a small fic where Crosshair and Howzer have a bitch fight while everyone else just kinda. has to watch. because Rex isn't there to stop Howzer (and Echo doesn't want to).

Like, imagine it

Howzer: "You're a dirty traitor. You killed most of my BROTHERS. and you parade yourself around like you're—"

Crosshair, on his fifth bowl of Fireball's spicy shit: "babe, I don't remember Ryloth."

Howzer:

Crosshair:

Howzer: "You what?"

Crosshair: "I do not recall Ryloth. Shit, I don't even care to try."

Everyone else:

Howzer:

Hunter: "Should we... do something?"

Fireball: "And miss the show?? Fuck no, dude."

Wrecker starts a betting pool. no one wins either, they just kinda. get tired and leave each other alone after a while. nemec pats howzer on the back for a solid attempt. it will happen again.

“Hey, got nothing going on?” Someone smacks Wrecker’s armoured back. “I could use some help in the kitchen.”

When Wrecker straightens up, the cheeky trooper in dark green armour whistles. “Oh, you’re one of Echo’s boys.”

Wrecker would rather call himself one of Hunter’s boys, but the words get stuck. He remembers that he is the only one of ‘Hunter’s boys’ left. Instead, he grumbles, “Is that what Echo calls us when we’re not around?”

“Not quite, usually ‘those di’kuts who pull off the impossible' ”

Wrecker snorts, “Yeah, we’ve got a reputation.”

The reg wiggles his eyebrows. “Including impossibly stupid.”

It could have been an insult. It does not sound like it; however, the reg is smiling at him amiably. “And you’re really that huge.”

“That’s what he said.”

The joke is bad, Echo told him that a million times. But it is a good kind of bad joke. The reg chuckles, eyes twinkling in amusement. “So, you're up for lending a hand, eh?”

Wrecker finds himself grinning for the first time since Omega was kidnapped, since Tech’s…

Later, they joke to the other regs that Fireball won him over with the food, and it is a bad joke, too. But it is what, in truth, draws them together—a shared appreciation of the good bad jokes.

this was a very nice little set up for the finale. i was worried we were gonna get another plot heavy episode and the end would be super rushed, but that's not the case. they even name dropped the title of episode 15 which had me immediately like 👀

tarkin is a bastard as always. crosshair refusing to give up the batch - including omega - breaks my heart. i also love how they show how fucked up he is by the torture by the way he misses shots - two of them. his whole thing is that he never misses. i'm also getting the sense that emerie only has this job because it pays the bills (her line about her access card not getting crosshair outside makes me think she's not even free to leave) and that she might be an ally next week.

it was good to see riyo with an obviously established halfway home setup in the martez' garage for deserted or rescued clones, but there's still no cody :( and rex was only there in spirit. no phee this episode either which hurted my little tephee shipper heart.

i'm super glad we got to see new clones! i would already die for fireball and the fact that he's wearing 41st ranger armor (like gree and jek in rots) and he and howzer clearly know each other has me 👀 about howzer possibly being assigned there before ryloth.

"fireball" also is the name of a clone pilot captain in the 501st's gold squadron. he showed up in clone wars gambit and we know he had bright red hair with a black streak, liked to play turbodarts, and went by fib for short. so it could also be that he wasn't originally a pilot, was crosstrained, and then got transferred back to ground in the 41st later in the war and so we have a fifth captain to add to keeli, rex, howzer, and wilco's fanon squad.

(i would also die for nemec but i forgot his name and was consumed by fireball's wiki page and various writer-of-fanfic-shaped thoughts)

it was also great to see gregor wearing his gold again and fucking bizarre to see echo without a kama.

speaking of echo, his exchange with hunter was enlightening. echo's really intense about this, even moreso than before, and part of me wonders if that's because he's doing this because fives would, because he's come across so many apathetic brothers he tried to recruit and defaulted to the schpiel, or because both.

by far the best moment, though - even better than tech teaching omega to fly and the "tech turn" - was omega throwing herself into echo's arms and the way he just caught and held her. it's so obvious he misses her too. that's his kid your honor.

this is... actually my new favorite episode, just barely ahead of last week's.

we fucking lost fireball, i'm so gdamn sad 😭😭😭 we had him for almost an entire year and now he's dead, i'm so fucking unwell

OMEGA AND HER TOOTHPICK. SHE LOVES HER LITTLEBIG BROTHER SO MUCH, I WANT TO SCREAM (that used to be hunter, it used to be hunter she looked at like that and now it's crosshair, and i can't help wondering if that makes hunter hurt as much as i think it might)

does anyone else think that one of the clone assassins is cody. everyone's so concerned it's tech (to the point i've started calling every clone x "tech", i don't even like that theory yet here we are), but what if it's cody. huh?????????????

WHO ELSE IS CONCERNED ABOUT OMEGA. bc when she was on tantiss, yes she was clearly depressed, but she was managing to keep her head up for crosshair, for emerie even, because she was so hopeful and so determined. and now she's not even eating. she's constantly shrouded in shadow. someone please, for the love of god, get this girl on some anti-depressants

why the fuck do the writers not give a shit about echo. huh??? the writing for him has been LAZY since fucking last season. they sent him away halfway through, and yes it makes sense for his character, but at the same time you're trying to tell me that omega was taken and he ditched the batch? that omega was returned to them alive and he didn't cry upon seeing her?? WHY ARE HIS EMOTIONS SO MUTED. WHY DO THEY KEEP SENDING HIM AWAY. WHY CAN'T HE BE ON THE SCREEN FOR MORE THAN 2 SECONDS AT A TIME, WHAT IS THE DEAL

because i would get it if they showed that maybe he's got some ptsd, maybe he's struggling with showing his feelings bc of the stress and the fear and the constant fighting and losing brothers. y'know, like a show is supposed to imo. but they're not doing that???

the lazy ass writing with hunter this episode is driving me insane. someone else said it too, but why in the fuck did crosshair react to the clone assassin faster than fucking hunter. hunter exists to be a tracking god, like nothing and no one can escape him bc he's just that good. he's a gdamn commando with a major in tracking and hunting, HIS NAME IS HUNTER FOR FUCK'S SAKE, AND YOU'RE TELLING ME HE COULDN'T PICK UP ON CLONE X TRACKING THEM BEFORE FUCKING BATCHER OR CROSSHAIR???????

also, can we talk about clone commando hilo in wolffe's lil imperial squad?? FINALLY. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN WHAT, LIKE 12? 20 YEARS? WE FINALLY HAVE A CLONE WITH A VAGUELY POLYNESIAN NAME (it's not even a māori name, it's a hawaiian name, but i will take the scraps i can get because i literally never never ever expected something like that outside of my own headcanons, thanks for literally nothing disney). my 2 seconds of research tell me that hilo means "to twist" in ʻōlelo, do with that what you will~

Howzer joined after them, but he acts like he's been around the entire time. Nemec let's him, he's not really picky with people pushing him around/bossing him about the place because he's chill like that. He'll pretend for Howzer

Fireball will NOT. Fireball will shoot every order back and pull rank when Howzer argues ("I opened the door for YOU. Nemec and I saved YOUR ass. Go clean my socks peasant") he has no problem making fun of Howzer. He thinks it's funny

Neither of them let Nemec get shoved around by anyone who isn't Rex (and on the occasional, Echo) if someone's taking advantage of Nemec's chill wave riding, they'll answer to Fireball and Howzer. They do not like people pushing their brother around >:(

Also, Nemec is Slightly Afraid of Batcher- when she first came around, he kinda stood far away from her like "🧍what the fuck is that" and when Batcher came up for affection he hid behind Fireball 😭 poor dude was shitting bricks

Fireball doesn't mind Batcher, but like Nemec, he doesn't do well with other creatures. They'll both gravitate towards Howzer when they're on planets with creatures- the bigger they are, the closer they stick to Howzer

(Howzer is just as nervous as they are, sometimes, but he won't ever admit that. He's always brave for his brothers)

Fireball made fun of Howzer's thigh holsters. I'm sorry Howzer girlie's, but I did too 😭 they were so chunky

Fireballs gotten the closest to recreating Gregor's wonderful cooking.

Nemec tried it and nearly burnt the base down. He was screaming, sobbing, calling anyone for help.

Howzer poured the Star Wars equivalent of cooking oil over the fire, and they really did nearly lose the base

Rex banned them from food duty. They're not even allowed wash the dishes. Fireball is POSITIVE it was on purpose to get out of chores.

I'm watching ep6/7 rn and can confirm: Nemec is definitely the younger brother of the group- my evidence?? Rex pushing him down when they were running for the assassin, Fireball covering him as soon as he went down, and Howzer's general attitude after the room went up. That's it, that's the evidence.

Howzer, Nemec and Fireball have taken on a few "shadows" on their own, but let's be real, they have the collective braincell of a powered down mouse droid- Samson is the one who handles it (I imagine he's a gen 2/3 clone) upclose and personal while Howzer rams them with stun bolts

That being said, Samson has absolutely punted a "shadow" across the room. He'd do it again in a heart beat.

While Nemec is great at gathering and sorting intel, Fireball is more experienced with description (cause he's older/got further into training)

It's pretty often for any of them to have nightmares about their brothers (namely Howzer) turning around and being a "shadow"- very creppy business.

Howzers a bit... pushy with questioning. With anything, really. He gets a bit wound up, lost in the guilt, he needs redirection sometimes

(Crosshair can't really remember Ryloth and he's genuinely unsure when to mention it 😭 he thinks it'll be Howzer's breaking point at this stage)

While Howzer and Samson are heavy footed and hard hitters, Nemec and Fireball are light on their feet and give weaker jabs in more sore places

Also!!! Cuddle piles with them are sweet. They don't get to do it often, but when they do?? Ough, they get the best sleep

I, again, probably have more. However, I think I've spoken enough about them for right now haha- add on if you have more!!!!! I love them :))
