volume vii thoughts

as per usual I have complaints about the missed opportunities of casa

first things first, the casa boys' sprites looked bad to me when I saw that post fusebox made but after playing for like a minute, I was like nah actually they're quite fine. However, prettiest sprites they're competing with are Jin, Claudia, Oakley, Tyler, and Bea so the competition is rough. Also idk something is throwing me off with Shawn and especially Kyle's face shapes.

I think last post I made I said Hari at least got more of a chance than Tyler, but scratch that actually, it feels like they got the same chance because suddenly we're in casa and hardly any mention of him, even though he and my MC have kissed a few times already and she hasn't really rejected him fully over Jin yet? Don't know if anyone's in the boat of going all in with Hari but I'm curious what the gameplay is like for them.

So Emel has randomly decided to be annoyed at Oakley again (I'll replay for you next time Oakley 🥺) and it's clearly because the routes are merged now, which is such a shame because I do think Emel and Oakley could've worked it out and become a fun couple to watch on the real show (probably a boring one though that the audience would dump until after the show ended that their real personalities come out on social media and the public like them individually or at least understand why they were together so long). And I know it's not the most in character thing but I so appreciate it not being a complete 180 for the sake of plot because I'm trying to imagine this with all the couples given what I know about them from my playthrough and Emel/Oakley always have problems because she's uptight and wants more dramatics in their romance and he's chill so any little thing he ends up doing sets her off, sure, I can buy that Emel is a little delusional. Then Luna/Jin would have problems because Luna is less extroverted than Jin, serious, and irritable (which honestly, relatable) and so Jin does things for a laugh and she doesn't get it. So maybe he didn't wink at Bea or did it as a joke because he's being cheeky and she takes it as flirting and starts an argument. And from my playthrough, Sophie and Jack always feel like they're looking for an argument so that checks out too. It's not perfect, but I can feasibly see how one could justify this plot point.

pet peeve subjective raunchy races is back 😠 at least a couple of them are better, like they did have oldest boy in there at least. everything else though, I don't care that much to listen to them argue about who's the most well traveled or stylish.

I love Bea's personality, she's so fun. And tbh, I'm kind of liking her and Liam together. He's forward and she's into it, and it seems like he can keep up with her for now so I'm happy with that couple and I hope it doesn't turn to shit (it probably will).

also pay to win when losers are gonna throw a part anyway ok sure 🙄 I think I've mentioned this before but like personally I think if they're gonna do gem scenes, there has to be a logical ways out of it rather than just MC being like "nah I don't feel like it" and then they lose?? at least for other gem scenes it's like "tell Sophie off 10 gems" or "stay silent" like sure that's fine I guess.

anyway the chats with the boys were actually all pretty fun and short. I, as per usual, have immediately gravitated towards the foodie/chef character but I'll admit I see what y'all are saying about Kyle. Tbh even Max isn't too bad but I'm cautious bc I'm getting Eddie vibes (it's the blond and the gossip lol). And I like Liam, he's like a less cartoonishly silly Hamish (so he reminds me of Felix).

I really like the free party wear dress and this is the second volume in a row MC has accidentally matched with a boy not her partner lol

Bea first mentioning she was bi but not flirting, I just thought maybe they were setting her up to partner with Claudia/Theo depending on who you couple up with/if you're on one of their routes. But then oh the tension at the party when she's staring at MC saying she wants to turn heads and Claudia getting nervous??? loving that.

I don't know what it's like for the other boys but it seems like Shawn and Kyle are drama averse, which I think could be an interesting plot point for later coming back from casa of course, but I also don't know if I believe in fusebox's ability to incorporate that in the story. (once again, the day I write a fic and learn to code its all over for you fusebox)

I didn't pay for the Bea talking about Jin scene but I saw yall talk about Sienna and like I doubt it's going anywhere if it's behind a paywall? it's like the Brad and Christy stuff tbh like unless a bunch of dumped islanders are coming back at the end, I'm ignoring it.

Hannah Lowther’s story looks like she has Black alt (old design) or Seymour boots, I’m assuming this is just for rehearsal purposes, right?

Those are rehearsal boots. In the usual costume timeline UK queens get their boots between the second and third week of rehearsals as the rhinestones are finished. But they need to start wearing heels from day one for a few reasons. Including to get used to the height, to build up the strenght needed to wear the boots regularly, so they can learn the choreo taking into account the different step lenght and measure moves with the heels. Basically same reason they wear skirts, peplums and corsets, and have the LIW plattform in the rehearsal room. Simulating stage conditions as much as possible makes it possible for the cast to be better prepared.

But back to boots. Since the queen's boots are not finished by the time they start rehearsals they wear whatever fits best from retired boots. By now there are many that are still in good condition so its very likely they can find something that fits. During the past week the WE queens have posted many of them in their instagram stories and I've actually been trying to figure out who has what. Half out of curiosity half because some interesting combinations are happening.

So far:

Nikki Bentley: an Aragon pair

Thao Therese Nguyen: a pair with the original diamond design that I think is Howard

Reca Oakley: a pair with one strap that doesnt look like the six LaDuca boots

Inez Budd: a boleyn pair

Gabriella Stylianou: a cleves pair

Naomi Alade: a pair with the original diamond design in what looks like light blue rhinestones (a design that has never been used and has me incredibly curious)

Hannah Lowter: a Seymour pair

Nothing from Kayleigh McKnight, Janiq Charles, Meg Dixon-Brasil or Natalie Pilkington. I assume Natalie is wearing one of her old pairs. And on another story a few other boots were visible inside drawers including roxanne's pink alt boots, one set with silver heels that could be one of the 2022-23 UKT alt boots or a teal pair, a pair that doesnt seem to have rhinestones (I assume the one reca wears) and two I couldn't identify which rounds up the cast.

Gabriella and Naomi, Hannah, Thao.

Reca and Nikki, Inez, some of the drawers where the silver heel pair, Roxanne's boots and the Cleves pair Gabriella has are stored, another two pairs were under the table.

So a very random looking mix. I think its funny Boleyn and Howard are currently inverted and am very curious about the boots Naomi is wearing.

Unpopular Opinion(?)

but I think it's a total green flag for Jin/OG li to want to be a gentleman to Sienna. Yeah at first it kinda sucks to hear about their interactions, but Jin/OG li has honestly been pretty mature about the situation. Like saying how he doesn't want to do too much while you're both coupled up with other people (like you did when you first coupled up). I see this as character development, because before he definitely would've just kissed/did bits or whatever, but now the feelings are deeper and more real and he doesn't want to mess it up. Yeah he's not perfect, but I think it'd be boring and unrealistic if his entire character revolved around just MC and completely blocking out other options. Like if you played S2 on a Gary route....yeah....LMFAOOOO

Anyways, he still defends and backs up MC at literally every given opportunity, he's just not being an absolute asshole about it in front of Sienna (like Liam probably would've tbh). He's also reassured the MC of his feelings pretty consistently, and the communication is their which is great. I honestly just think it's Sienna's delulu antics that are making people question his intentions. I'm just saying...the season is called tempting fate. Fusebox probably wants to make you question your MC's connection with Jin/OG li for the story/drama. Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith for funsies 😋✌️

If Jin/OG li were to treat Sienna like absolute crap (like how Liam is treating Bea, or Emel/Oakley, Sophie/Jack, Jin/Luna) then that would turn me off of him so bad, because who's to say he wouldn't do that to MC or other women? He respects women period, and I think that's respectable and a straight up green flag.

Just to reiterate, this is my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and how they feel about it. I just wanted to give my two cents. 🤷‍♀️

tbh as much as i love the open ended ambiguity of johanna and anthony being able to escape the horrors to some extent and live their lives together i also know how ptsd works and i don't know that i believe anthony and johanna would just stay together after everything that's happened. i think anthony would try his best, would try to love johanna with everything he has, but i don't know if he's someone that would recognize whether or not he's out of his depth and/or know what johanna really needs after having literally killed a man to survive coming out of an incredibly abusive environment as judge turpin's ward AND the added trauma of the asylum and then on top of it all almost dying at the hands of her own father.

now, that being said, we also don't really know what it is anthony comes from. all we really know is that he was a sailor and at some point he rescued sweeney while they were out at sea. if we go by the original penny dreadful sweeney todd is based on, i would imagine anthony is probably based on mark ingestrie, who was in love with a girl named johanna oakley. at some point mark is imprisoned in the cellar beneath mrs. lovett's pie shop and forced to help cook the pies before ultimately escaping up the lift that brings the pies up from the cellar and into the shop itself. i think if our anthony has subsequent trauma of his own that we just don't know about, i could see it potentially still working between the two of them, because he would have some insight, albeit specific to his own trauma, that would allow him to at least empathize with johanna's circumstances better than he would without it (which isn't a knock on him, but it's very hard to understand things that have never happened to you, let alone be there to try and help someone in the ways they may want or need. it's not impossible, and it's not a one size fits all, but it's certainly not easy when you don't have any trauma of your own [and sometimes even when you do! trauma isn't a one size fits all; even people with the exact same trauma will still experience it differently because they're still fundamentally different people in terms of how they think how they feel, how they process things and how long it takes for them to process things]). but i think if he's as naïve as the overview of principal roles in sweeney todd makes him out to be, i don't think he and johanna would stay together.

as for johanna, i'm honestly not sure beyond that. i can't say for sure what i think she'd do, other than want to be rid of london for just about every reason imaginable and then some. maybe become a sailor herself, going from place to place, not wanting to be trapped like the bird in a cage motif that introduces her to us and follows through to the end when she can finally take her life, her fate, her freedom into her own hands for the first time in her life.

Ooooh, this one was interesting; I could have gone a few directions with it, but what convinced me was StudyGram and how I think you and Ollie could really enjoy that together.

Like, I know he wasn’t always as on top as his game, but the man Ollie is now is conscientious, thoughtful, and smart. There was something incredibly charming about the way he studiously took notes in his first audio, so I think he’d be taken with your love of beautiful, well-structured notes. Ollie’s so sweet about it too, buying you notes and scented pens and cute pencil pouches shaped like a carton of strawberry milk (my personal favorite kind of stationary).

Also, I don’t think we have, like, any real canon information Ollie is a video game boy. He’s more of a board game, but he still appreciates a good playable narrative. I can see y’all having a lovely lazy day of him watching you play The Last of Us, bringing you snacks, asking you questions about the clickers… the opposite of a golden retriever gamer boyfriend in a way.

The Oakley Overheads are a little tight in the ears, same with the Craigs which is funny cause the craigs are 139 hinge to hinge and the Overheads are 136. The craigs leave a mark I haven't worn the Oakley Overheads long enough.

The Oakley Overheads touch my cheek unless they are pushed up high.... the Ray-Bans touch my cheeks unless they are more in the middle... tbh I love the Oakley and none of my Eyewear fits properly... and like I like wearing my glasses high up on my nose it feels more comfortable....

I got to see how bad the lines are on the sides of my head from these.... but I don't think my Eyewear company is getting them back...

Maybe I'm a 142 hinge to hinge... this is why I need to get fitted at lense crafters... but yea... I feel attractive in these. I may invest in the Overheads next year depending on how they feel after a few hours. I'll try the Craigs later.

Erin canceled and rescheduled to tomorrow so I guess I'll just game or watch TV or something. None of my Eyewear fit my focal point so it doesn't matter.

1 - When you wake up, do you get up straight away or do you lie around in bed for a while?  I remember making this survey years ago, lol. Anyway, it depends. I set my alarm for when I need to be up but if I wake up before then I'll lay around and doze or read my phone. At weekends I often get up, feed the animals, make a coffee and go back to bed for an hour.

2 - Who was the last person you video-called with? Have you done this more often since COVID hit?  My mum, and yes, most definitely.

3 - How many times a week do you go out for food or drink?  Less than once a week as eating out is just so expensive and is often really disappointing imo. We tend to go maybe every 6-8 weeks but we do get takeaway more often.

4 - Do you prefer getting takeaway or actually sitting in a restaurant and eating your meal there?  I prefer going out for lunch or breakfast and then getting a takeaway for an evening meal.

5 - Where’s your favourite place to get takeaway coffee (or whatever your drink of choice is)?  If I had one nearby then I'd go to Starbucks but the nearest is like, a half hour drive and I'm not that desperate. I tend to go to the local coffee/ice-cream place near the beach.

6 - Do you tend to keep your phone on silent, vibrate or loud?  Silent at night or at home, loud at work.

7 - If you have pets, when was the last time one of them annoyed you? What happened?  Archie when he came home from his walk and straight to the litter trays - yes, he is gross and yes, they'd been emptied, he was just being an opportunist lol.

22 - When was the last time you purchased an actual DVD or CD?  I bought some DVD's a few months ago but I haven't bought a CD for years - probably over a decade tbh.

Yeah, I was pick-pocketed in France (luckily they didn't take much and I never reported it). My parents have had their car/house broken in to a couple of times - my rollerblades were stolen once. The second time they stole my mum's handbag and the car off the drive.

27 - What was the last TV show you discovered that you really liked? What was it that got you to watch it in the first place? I haven't started a new TV show in months. I did like Young Sheldon for a bit but I got bored after the first few seasons.

28 - Have you seen any of the live-action Disney remakes? Which one is your favourite? What about your least favourite?  Yeah, all of them. I like Mulan and Alice in Wonderland and I LOVED the first Maleficent. Hated The Lion King and Aladdin. Little Mermaid and Jungle Book were good too. Lady and the Tramp was meh, so was Cruella.

29 - Do you have any exciting plans for tomorrow? If not, how are you planning to spend your day?  Just work. I'll be up at half seven to feed the animals, then it's breakfast and get myself ready. I leave at half eight - then it's off to my final visit with Charley (cat) before I walk Sparky. Then it's two group walks before I pick Archie up and take him out with Ollie for the last walk of the day. Then back home, feed the animals again, shower and chill.

30 - Would you ever keep a working dog as a pet? Do you think it’s fair to keep dogs like huskies in flats when it’s so different to their natural environments? I have a beagle in a small house - I don't think your home environment really matters as long as you have the time and energy to give them the exercise and enrichment they need.

volume XI thoughts

I did in fact have access to this on Tuesday and started to play but then got distracted and didn't finish until like 2am when I couldn't sleep anyway (this was a mistake I was so tired at work)

movie night!!! And fun movie night titles!! ofc MC doesn't get her own custom one bc everyone's got different names but my MC is named Maya and with how things have been going I'm pretending her movie title is Messy Messy Maya 🤭

Emel and Oakley both being unfaithful in casa but finding (forcing?) their way back to each other and forgiving each other feels very much like something in the show so I appreciate that storyline tbh

Felicity is too beautiful of a sprite to waste as a Casa girl that only shows up for movie night.

Sienna going "I don't care if it's egotistical, pick my movies" because no one else is gonna care to pick hers 😬😬 id feel bad for her if she wasn't so mean

Absolutely awful that Liam is so funny bc he's such a piece of shit (awful in the best way, like he's so Messy Mitch from LI UK s10 coded and while I don't like him I appreciate the fun he brings). Saw someone suggest that he could be a late game LI and if he evolves and changes, sure, but a lot is gonna need to happen, otherwise give him a last minute jokey option like Hamish.

I think the thing stopping me from going full in on this Claudia route is she keeps going back to Theo, and not like she has to be pursuing MC 100% for me to pick her but I'm just getting mixed signals with her trying to save her relationship with Theo when they clearly aren't into each other anymore but there are plenty other people around.

Not on a Theo route and haven't talked to him but ngl his little video clip was cute like I almost jumped ship to be messy but nahh. I wonder how that's like if you're actually pursuing him though like does it feel like pay off or shock or reassurance or anything.

Like even MC's movie clip playing, first of all was just if she slept with someone in casa I think (which, it's fair enough considering the game's limitations but I was missing all the other times she hoed around). So for my MC it was with Claudia, and Claudia barely has a response to it. And so I'm kinda just going towards the character actively pursuing and paying attention at this moment and it's Jin.

I guess MC was honest to Jin so he didn't mind the movie night thank God but also I want to replay to see the drama unfold. but in my head for some reason he'd be shocked it was Claudia bc she didn't say anything and like it'd be one thing if it was someone she just met like Max who she's been friendzoning ever since but another thing for it to be her best friend in the Villa. but alas, that is a large amount of branching and coding and dialogue to write so I'll let it slide.

a recoupling so soon after?? it's not like the season feels too rushed, but like I mentioned before, the pack in so many things in each volume you don't get much of a chance to chill out with the characters and pretend it's a vacation for your character lol

the problem with me playing early is I'm so curious how everyone else's game went. like is it only your OG LI or Casa Boy that can pick you?? And the chat you have with your partner after, does that lock your route because after this I feel there was a little bit less attention on MC from the other LI's (which I don't mind, so they can have their own stories now, but I wanna knowwww)

Like it can be a shitty costume but I understand people not wanting to pay gems for one outfit for one night of the game.

Such a minor detail, but I do love that despite her being so awful to MC, that Sienna canonically is a very conservative dresser. like we all see her churchy outfits. and I think maybe she's a little insecure about her body and stuff. that being said, the dialogue she has when she's in costume about feeling confident, and her costume isn't super revealing, and the girls being shocked at her dance, is all very good to have. like it's nice to have that type of character around and the fact that she's also the villain rn? she contains multitudes (or I'm reading into it too hard 😂)

And now Claudia and Bea flirting with each other? Okayyy I mean my fingers are crossed so here's hoping they find each other if not MC. and they have a lot in common but feel like different characters so like pls let them be together (I say this as someone every few months posting about how it shouldve been Cora and Angie not friendzoned Oliver and Angie in the s4 finale)

ok but his entrance feels so overshadowed by other things going on though like I feel like he didn't get a chance to really bombshell to the point where I think he should've been introduced next volume instead. like have him have a normal bombshell entrance with dates or smth, then maybe when they're all chilling the next day and getting to know him someone brings up he missed heart rate challenge and they suggest he dances for the characters he's most interested in, if we really wanted to get his messy entrance in.

Two unfortunate things are true in my mind: Logan is very attractive (at least when he's got the hat on) and also he looks like Liam 🫣

Chris is the perfect person to give Oakley advice about being in his son’ life. As he says he’s done it all including battling a mental disorder and dealing with a manipulative controlling wife that refuses to mind her own business. So he knows what Oakley is going through. So as i said he is the perfect person to help Oakley. Rylee needs to grow up and start thinking for herself and stop letting her mother make decisions for her like she did with her husband and look at how that turned out. But I guess we’re only seeing the good times now but Robyn meddling never ends good this is why I’m happy Chris is putting his foot down with this Brian situation let Rylee clean up her mess this is the only way she will learn. Oakley isn’t putting up with her BS anymore kudos to him.

The way Chris shut Rylee down when she was piping up about being around Oakley more then anything, he said he was my friend before her 😭😭. But like you said he is perfect to help him through this, he doesn’t want his grandson missing out because the parents have got this issue and rightly so, he cares. 2nd 'cannot stress this enough'- if you're on desktop, USE THE SHINIGAMI EYES EXTENSION. it'll help you know which blogs are terfs/radfems so that you can block and avoid them and tell your friends who to block and avoid.

you can never truly delete a post. oh sure you can delete the original. but once someone reblogs it? it's there forever. you can still see all the reblogs that everyone has reblogged of that post. same with editing- if you edit the original, only the original changes. the reblogged version stays the same.

you don't lump words together to hashtag. for example, if i wanna tag something as percy jackson, i don't write "#percyjackson". i write "#percy jackson".

you'll notice that when ppl reblog, they talk a ton in the tags. that's what they're for. if you wanna add something to the post but you don't think it's important enough for the main post section, you add it in the tags.

you know how on twitter you can follow topics. that's what tags are like here. on twitter i would follow the topic "percy jackson" but on tumblr i gotta follow the tag "#percy jackson"

another one i can't stress enough- anons on here are NOTHING like curiouscat or tellonym. they are not there for you to spew hate unabashedly. we don't believe in cowardice here. you got a problem w/ someone? say it on main or keep your mouth shut. anons are for people who are too shy to ask questions with their account visible.

turning on submissions basically means that users can submit posts to your blog. you don't have to allow the submission but if you do, it'll have a small heading underneath the text that says "submitted by (insert username here)". you can turn on and off any types of submissions you want to allow or not allow
