Irving handles character correction/role assignments (and also would be the brawns/strength in the trio, working mostly with the Combat Arena X folks but just overall anything Lionel related). His brother (Sterling) handles punishments (got lazy with sol and just handed that off to Irving) and uses magic (he's the beauty of the trio by default. The charismatic one) and then his sister (Eleanor) handles all the logistics/diagnostics/bug fixes and doesn't properly work with game characters, though has files on all Gmaeworks-owned/associated characters (she's the brain of the trio) [sectioned off from the others so this is easier to read]

Overlooked the work done on Inscryption when he wasn't helping Lionel. Was overworked, but never really,,,noticed it was happening. He just noticed he was extra tired and then never acknowledged it again

Was sent to solely overlook the development of Inscryption once Lionel was dead. Wasn't given much time to move on

At this point, all the basic coding had been done, as work on Inscryption (or at least Kaycee helping develop it) had started at some point at the same time as Waste World's development in my hcs. I'll write up a proper timeline for my hcs eventually. But yeah, he was just sent to watch over the characters and make sure they all stayed in line

His cruelty and devotion (to Lionel, obv) were coded into his AI by Lou. It wasn't Lou's first time fucking around with programs after all, and fucking around with something that was purely an ai was much easier than something that was once alive

The devotion was coded in during Lionel's time making games for Gamefuna, so at some point during Combat Arena X or Secrets of Legendaria. The incident with Reggie was purely cruelty based, and was Irving twisting Lionel's words to fit his own goals

This was kicked into high gear shortly after SoL's failure

Constantly struggling with Sado. She's both exactly like him and the exact opposite to him at the same time. They're both sadistic, sentient programs that don't care for the lives they endanger. But while Irving strives to protect Lionel, Sado strives to destroy him, whatever that may entail.

Was unfortunately busy with Inscryption due to Lionel's lack of progress when Sado invaded Waste World, and was in all unable to stop the damage that happened with that game. Found out about it shortly after the damage had already been done, and sought to capture Sado, no matter what.

Obviously, though, she got freed. That mixed with the stolen artifact just stressed him the fuck out, but protecting Lionel had to come before dealing with his own stress, even if that inevitably became his downfall

His devotion was actually coded in by Lou bc Lou kinda realized after making a deal with Carla that he was putting Lionel's life in danger, and. Well. *Looks at my Lou and Barry pre-canon hcs*

Taking a less pre-canon dependent approach, his devotion could honestly just also be that Lionel's one of the very few that are earning Gamefuna money, even if Gamefuna's games suck. So, if Lionel dies, they lose one of their best programmers.

Either way, Irving's devoted to Lionel purely because Lou wants him to be

I could honestly write a whole ANALYSIS on Irving's character, so. Take it in loose hc format instead. Maybe one day I'll write a proper analysis on him. One day

- I usually do this immediately after it comes out and I see it but no one reads these anyway so who cares lol

- Dahyun 100% doesn't know what trippin is and I can tell when she says it lol

- tequila sunrise is not alcohol free! although technically the drink is free for us because we get a shot on them soo..

- "it's I need you o clock right now" is such a verbal minefield lol like its so close to "I need your c*ck" or, even worse, "your cr*c" and both are embarrassing.

- Chaeyoung's deep voiced rapping was fine but it was placed between Dahyun stabbing a cake???? and Chae holding a sign with lyrics on it?????(kinda made me cringe) and so I could not process it the first time. - Momo during the rap worked so well with her singing voice. Is this her era?

Satie really gave all pianists free real estate... so I can play his pieces as sacrilegiously as I want and it'd still sound nice /j. But idk, sometimes I struggle to do my own phrasing and my own expression so it is nice sometimes to play something that is from the Baroque era because I don't have to worry about a lot of rubato ahaha

And FOR REALS I don't know how composers do it! I can barely improvise a phrase, let alone an entire symphony. And to think that Haydn wrote at least 107 symphonies. Most of the composers were prodigies but even then prodigies should have a hard time composing... right? Or maybe prodigies just have something else to them that makes them Ling Ling level shsjddkias and to think I have to make my own compositions in music class next year looool

 Art Notes: I've been stuck in a drawing rut so bad lately. It was a struggle making this piece. But, I signed up as a pinch hitter, so I was determined to keep my word when they called on me. It's funny because I find drawing younger Jared/Sam and younger Jensen/Dean to be so intimidating because there's just a big limit on references from their younger years. But, then the mods made a post about being worried people would drop and that worried me. I'm a supporter of gencest and wincest things so I did want the zine to succeed.

So, I signed up as a pinch hitter with half of me hoping that I can do something at least half way decent if they call on me and the other half thinking that they probably won't even need me. I'm just a back up in case someone else can't do their work. But, come to find out for some unfortunate reason someone did drop out of teen section and I was called to make good on my promise. And for what it's worth, I did make good on it.

The mods gave me somewhere around, I guess, 2 months? I got most of March and then all of April to finish. Starting from March 5, I started brainstorming questions and ideas right away. I asked if there was a collective zine theme besides the boys being teens. The mod told me the main theme was them growing up together. And I was going to go for gencest (though if people want to see it as wincest Idc, go ahead) I chose the option to have the boys doing regular teenager stuff with a hunter twist.

After that I asked if there was any additional info I needed and if I needed to be aware of what others were creating so we all didn't create the same stuff, mainly because the last Zine I was in the mods were worried about that. There wasn't any additional info that I needed, but the mod I was talking to did say go ahead and run any ideas I had about what I wanted to do by them and they'd check if I was doing something too similar to another artist. So, five days later I came back with two ideas that I was toying with, "a hot summer day stuck in a cabin/house/motel, or Sam and Dean in some kind of a dark back alley with neon lights". The response I got back was that the latter idea was the most unique. So, I went forward with that idea.

So, before I started sketching Sam and Dean, I obsessively searched for refs of young Jared and Jensen and saving what I could find to my drive for ease of access. In the zine guidelines the teen section said 15-18 years old, which didn't specify if that meant 18 for Sam or 18 for Dean. I took it as 18 for Sam. Which even though gives me a bigger range to work with, ends up making Dean technically a legal adult than a teen. But, I don't specify the ages in this piece so I feel like there's some plausible deniability with Sam being somewhere in his later teen years but before Stanford.

Anyways, I tried to concentrate on refs around those times, but Jared's youth on the internet is pretty much non existent especially compared to Jensen. But, I tried my best even though I ended up mainly using refs from when Jared and Jensen were young adults. I did try to make them look younger than the refs tho, especially Sam. I shortened his chin a smidge and made him noticeable shorter than Dean who's leaning against the wall, not even standing at full height. I also had to brainstorm what kind of hairstyle I wanted to put on Sam. I decided to give him something similar to his main season 1 hair, but a little shorter in length. And that's mainly because I wanted this to look like Sam, rather than Jared and his other roles. I'm not sure how I feel about the final results. A lot of this work was me not really having concrete directions and me just playing around, for better or worse.

When I started, I sketched Sam and Dean first and then tried to sketch out a background that made sense for their positions. I keep trying to do backgrounds, but I don't know if I'm getting any better at them. It's definitely not my worst, but I feel like it could be better somehow.

On March 30th, the first check in was due and I had pretty much finished my sketch. I changed my mind on it being nighttime with neon lights in the background and wanted to color it with daytime in mind. I thought daytime might be easier to color and render. And, I told the mods that "I feel good about my progress, and I'm pretty sure I'll be done before April 25th," which was the final check in on the schedule.

After that I made the line art and colored in the base colors. I put a free texture on the brick wall, and copy, paste, and vertically flipped a reflection of the background building for the background pavement. I added in the signs and fonts with Photoshop Elements 15. But, when I started to add shading and lighting, I changed my mind again. I wanted it to be raining, and the boys are taking cover by some kind of overhang in the alleyway. But, I still wanted it to be daytime, but on like a really cloudy evening where light is barely shining through the clouds. In the end, it ended up being darker than I initially was going for. So, it like full circled back to nighttime by the end.

As some late additions, I added water drops to the foreground, because sometimes water gets stuck to the camera lens, windows, glasses, or eyelashes in rainy scenes and I thought it'd be cool. And, I added a faint passing car light to be the main light for Sam and Dean's shadows on the wall, or at least that was the idea, anyways. I also did try to add graffiti to the wall too, but it felt really distracting so I ended up making it really faint.

Towards the end, I pretty much got sick of looking at and fiddling with it. I get somewhat obsessive sometimes, where I can't let things go. And, it's like the little things in this piece would be driving me crazy, but I couldn't figure out what it was. I was at that point where continuing to try to fix whatever I was bothering me had just as much a likelihood of making the piece worse. So, on April 18th, I turned it in. And then, I waited for May 2nd when the Zine would be officially posted. The next day after I made and submitted my personal art posts. And that's pretty much everything.

Looking back at it now, I'm pretty happy with how my Sam and Dean turned out. I need to work on my background and composition skills (those seem to be what I always struggle with the most) but overall I feel pretty good about the whole thing. I probably need to force myself to experiment more with free flowing, simple, blurry styles instead of my go to where everything has a defined shape. But, saying it vs actually breaking out of my comfort zone is an up hill battle.

This is just a peek behind the curtains. I took out the rain, reflection, fog, atmosphere filter, some of the lighting, the car light, and one shading layer. In some ways this version is better for being less complicated, but I do like the moodiness in the official version. I'm mainly sharing this to compare and contrast with the main, and to show that yes, I did intend for daytime initially when coloring, lol.

You had decided to stay at school for the holidays. After all, you had already told your parents that you wouldn’t go home since you would be with Adrian.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t lonely. The Weasley Twins had stayed at school too. They were there to essentially put a bandaid on your crushed heart. Besides the twins, Peeves was there to harass the first years.

For some odd reason, Miles Bletchley stayed at Hogwarts too. The boy was awfully nervous around you, in ways he had never been. Typically, you could see him standing tall and speaking in a voice that would drive anyone listening to him insane. It wasn’t his real voice though, you found that out a month into dating Adrian. Miles practically laughed at you for thinking he would talk like that naturally. “It sounds like I have a cold,” he would say. Now he would stutter and stumble on his words and steal not so secretive glances.

“Hello, Y/l/n. Uh can I sit?” He motioned to the bunk in front of you.

“I added a bunch of whipped cream and a single ice cube; that’s how Adrian said you liked it. That was back in November though so if you don’t like it anymore, I can just send it back. People change, I know that–” He was rambling at a terrible rate.

“Miles! Breathe!” He nodded slowly, closing his eyes, “Thank you for the hot chocolate, I still like it like this.” After a few seconds, you processed what Miles had said. For some reason, the fact that Adrian would speak about you so much, to the point where one of his mates knew how you liked your hot chocolate, made your face burn. “What do you want? We haven’t spoken since Adri- since we broke up.”

“You broke up?” His face was long, “Adrian said you were just spending some time apart.”

“Technically, we are on a break until further notice.” You raised the mug to your lips and took a sip, “I promise you’ll be the first I tell when I find out,” you said sarcastically.

“Tomorrow's the first day back, you should really talk to him.”

“He wanted the break, Miles, if anything he should come looking for me.”

“Right.” He stood up, “Well thanks for not snapping at me for disturbing you while you’re reading. Ad- I was told you don’t enjoy that.”

“It’s alright, you can say his name, it’s not forbidden and it won’t break me.”

“Adrian misses you.” He left in a ghost like manner, almost gliding away. He behaved much like the three weird sisters of Macbeth, dropping his knowledge unexpectedly and leaving the receiver to cope however they could.

For fucks sake, Miles, why would you say that?

The oblivious boy’s words haunted you for the rest of the day, even into the morning, and then into the school week.

Flitwick, who had been a big advocate for the relationship, was doing his best to bring the two of you together again. After all, when he had caught you two swapping notes during class, he saved you the embarrassment of reading them out loud.

“I will allow you to pick your partner for this assignment, as long as they are from a different house.” He was aware that very few people tolerated Slytherins but he failed to consider that Adrian might as well have been a Hufflepuff and would have people lining up to be his partner.

“Diggory, come work with me,” You quickly called out. Cedric was one of your friends in Hufflepuff.

“Pick a different partner, Y/l/n,” Flitwick said impatiently. Cedric was already standing next to you, his hands in his pockets.

“But I’m working with Ce-”

“Diggory will have no trouble finding another partner, Y/l/n, don’t worry about that. Pucey, have you got a partner?” Adrian looked up from his scroll.

“No, sir.”

“Very well, come work with Y/l/n.”

You turned to look at Cedric who was working with a Slytherin. “Traitor!” you mouth.

“Sorry,” he replies before going back to his partner.

“Yes.”

Last class until the weekend.

You refused to get too close to him but it was proving to be very difficult when he would do everything to touch you in some way; Doing the spell wrong which would result in your wand falling out of your hand, him picking it up to give it back to you, and cupping your hand in a very particular way, He would drop his wand at your feet, or “fix” your hair, or maybe your tie was crooked.

By the end of class, every patch of skin he touched stung.

You decided on skipping dinner and opted for a cigarette. Taking a seat on the bay window of the Gryffindor common room, you pushed the window open. You watched as the ashes vanished into thin air.

There was gleeful clamor outside the entrance.

Dinner has just begun-

“--seen you around lately!” The Fat Lady gushed.

“I’m hoping you’ll—- of me—” A familiar voice replied.

The breeze kissed your face into a drowsy state. The sound of the armchair moving across from you made you lift your head. Staring right at you was a pair of brown eyes and a mischievous smile.

“What the hell?!”

“Lower your voice,” he laughed. He stopped when he saw the unimpressed expression on your face. He removed the cigarette from between your fingers and held it up to his lips.

“Did you send Miles to talk to me?”

“No idea what you’re talking about,” The smoke escaped his chapped lips as he continued to smile.

Oh he did!

“What do you want, Pucey?”

He faked pain, “No ‘Ads’? We’re back on a last name basis? It feels like before we started dating.”

“What do you want?”

“You!”

“Stop being ridiculous and tell me what you’re doing here!” You were irritated at this point. Your eyes bore into his and your disbelief stung.

“Let's talk.” He wasn’t smiling anymore but his face was still soft and held no traces of negativity towards you.

“Did your parents ask about me?”

“Mother was disappointed when I told her you wouldn’t be coming.”

“Oh.”

“Yea… Forget all the small talk–”

There’s that impatience I remember.

“--I regret saying we should take a break. I was miserable the entire time and I strongly dislike not being the first thing you see in the morning. So if you’d like me to stay, I will. If you would like me to leave, I will…for the time being.”

“You’re so damn stubborn. If you stay, what will change?”

“I won’t let people flirt with either of us.”

“I’ll tell you when something’s bothering me.” You mumble, not wanting to admit how much you’ve hated being without him.

The conversation slipped into talking about past dates, gossiping about your friends, and making plans for Adrian’s birthday.

Eventually, you two made your way to the Great Hall. His arm was around your shoulder with yours around his torso. You had managed to catch the Slytherin team when they were retreating back to their dungun. All of their faces seemed to hold a vague look of pride, especially Miles’s.

You let your head fall closer to Adrian’s shoulder, “I was thinking we could go to the Three Broomsticks next Hogsmeade weekend, how does that sound?” The rest of the night was spent agreeing with each other so the other would stay.

i am having an idea of like a hc or au thing. about sora in yozora’s heart, and sora in unreality. (the idea/theory of sora in yozoras heart is by steamwhistler afaik)

i rambled this in my trusty notes app DAYS ago and i’m just gonna copy paste bc if i try to summarize it neatly it bores me lmao

SO. Sora is in Yozora’s heart right. And I was always like “man i would love to see yozora taking sora around quadratum”. either for yozora’s sake or bc sora insists on exploring unreality. or both idc anyway—

but i was also like “how would yozora do that? if sora is in his heart?” (i know sora could see whatever yozora sees but i mean as in DATES OKAY—)

So i thought of roxas and naminé. In kh2, they’re in sora’s and kairi’s hearts, right? but they can also appear as projections OUTSIDE of their host. Like ghosts!

so i was like GHOST SORA could be dragging yozora around the city bc sora is so excited to explore, and even tho technically yozora is in control, he can’t say no to sora bc oops sora took nameless star’s place—

but yeah basically yozora and ghost sora pop up at places sora wants to see, except obviously it just looks like yozora is showing up by himself bc no one else can see ghost sora beside him—like in yugioh 🤣

and so when riku and yozora cross paths by being in the same vicinity, riku doesn’t realize sora is there bc sora is literally a ghost that only yozora can see!!

and when riku DOES notice YOZORA, MY gosh like—cause riku can obviously see that he and yozora are nearly identical, and riku knows yozora is watching him.

and sora doesn’t remember riku. so in the times riku confronts yozora, Ghost Sora is RIGHT THERE, PERCEIVING Riku. trying to figure out what’s going on, who riku is, what riku wants, and then it turns out riku is looking for sora too???

fr i am imagining some scene where sora continuously gets more and more attached to riku (perhaps as riku collects the pieces of sora’s heart)

but yozora still has that initial feeling/quest of being told to “save sora”. Yozora truly thinks sora is the one he’s meant to save, that sora is meant to be saved by YOZORA himself.

so he doesn’t understand why sora is so obsessed with RIKU INSTEAD, because literally sora doesn’t KNOW riku. not to yozora’s knowledge, and not to sora’s knowledge either.

neither of them get it, honestly. they’re both confused and can only go off of the mixed messages of their hearts. which are NOT being helpful atm.

MY GOD i made myself sad by drawing sora reaching bc i cant get the image out of my head of sora WANTING to reach riku even if he doesn’t fully remember who riku is—

bc a lot of amnesiac sora angst concerns revolve around sora not recognizing riku at all, and therefore not feeling any feelings of attachment to riku either.

BUT IF HE DID??? I COULD CRYYY BECAUSE IMAGINE SORA DOESNT KNOW WHO RIKU IS BUT YEARNS FOR HIM ALL THE SAME—

imagine ghost sora just, seeing riku for the first time, and from then on he can’t get riku out of his mind

and when he learns riku’s name, he can’t stop mumbling it to himself and he doesn’t know WHY

and when yozora and riku are face to face for the first time, sora FEELS something and the fact that he feels anything at all around a complete stranger is a detail that he can’t stop thinking about

when riku starts putting sora back together, causing sora to remember riku bit by bit, each time the longing gets STRONGER and the pain when riku isn’t around gets WORSE

and yozora doesn’t think it’s a good idea to put sora’s heart back together since he’s trying to keep him alive in the first place by crystallizing him in his heart, (and bc sora is in LITERAL PAIN from all the hurt in the heart pieces that his heart literally ejected to survive) so yozora actively tries keeping sora away from riku, or he tries to stop riku from finding the pieces (like Raya), so in the times when riku catches up to them sora is DESPERATE for riku to stay but yozora won’t let him go, he can’t let him go—

yozora is kind of a namine in that he’s holding or keeping sora away from the painful memories in his heart, for the sake of HELPING sora, but it still HURTS bc even without all his memories, sora’s heart still WANTS to be with RIKU—

and yozora hates it, because his own heart is full of love but he doesn’t know for WHO

riku not knowing what or WHO yozora is glancing at all the time (ghost sora) but feeling protective of that thing all the same—

riku and sora both sensing each other’s proximity/presence through the connection of their hearts (once riku starts repairing it with sora’s heart pieces) but not being able to reach each other bc sora is still a ghost, like

Bc the verum rex trailer gives me such a feeling of longing, with all the imagery of REACHING—

i used to think riku might be the only one reaching for sora but when i think of the trailer i’m like NO, SORA IS REACHING BACK—

like the image of sora being torn away from riku the way nameless star was yanked away by the gigas?????

and nameless star is a clear sora parallel in that they’ve both forgotten/lost major aspects of themselves (except nameless star and yozora are swapped in terms of who remembers who)

but like?????!!!!!! sora and nameless star were both taken from riku and yozora respectively. so it’s not so farfetched to think that sora will be missing riku too, in spite of losing memories of him.

i just want amnesiac ghost sora to obsess over riku pls

Mending A Broken Heart

this is for my fellow jeankasa shippers. idc if the ship was not made canon but to me they fell in love got married and lived happily ever after. and i also wanted to see mikasa move on and not just stuck on eren you know? anyways hope you like this!!! :D

Jean checked himself in the mirror for the nth time. He searched for any hair out of place, looked for boogers, checked if he had anything stuck between his teeth and made sure his breath didn't stink. He had to make a good first impression. Well, technically, not a first impression but... whatever.

"Yo Horseface! How long are you gonna take?" Connie yelled.

"Coming!" Jean answered.

He was both excited and nervous. He was going to see Mikasa after 3 long years. He wondered what she looked like, she was in her early twenties after all. She's gonna be beautiful as ever, Jean thought.

He checked himself in the mirror one last time and jogged to where his friends were waiting for him.

Armin smiled and waved at him, sweet as ever. Reiner and Annie nodded at him.

"Took you forever. What, are you getting ready for your marriage?" Connie punched Jean, to which Jean kicked him in the shin.

"Come on, let's go. Don't want to keep Mikasa waiting now, do we?" Jean grinned.

"Yeah, let's go!" Armin agreed.

Mikasa stared at the sky. It was cloudless and a bright blue. Her hand rested atop the small headstone next to her. She can't be mourning forever, she knew that. She had loved Eren since she was nine-she probably still does, she's not sure. Letting the man, who taught her to live, go was no easy task.

Her hand went up to her scarf. Eren's scarf. He'd told her to put it away and forget about him. Find someone else who would love her and move on. He'd said it like it was as easy as getting a new dress after the old one tore. Mikasa couldn't move on. She didn't know how to move on.

"Eren," she called out, hoping against hope he could hear her. "How can I forget you?"

The walk up the hill where Eren was buried was quiet. The air felt thick with emotions and Jean almost considered going back. Eren was your friend, dumbass, he reminded himself and kept walking. He would never admit it but he missed Eren dearly. That suicidal blockhead was one of his closest friends and though they argued all day everyday, Jean would readily give up his life for him and Eren would do the same for Jean.

Jean spotted Mikasa sitting next to a small stone staring at the sky. Jean's heart did a somersault when he took in her features. She had become more beautiful, as if she wasn't already. She had let her hair grow and it reached past her shoulders.

Instantly, he was reminded of the day he had complimented her hair. But, she had cut it short not long after on Eren's word.

"Mikasa!" Armin yelled with joy.

Mikasa looked down to see Armin and smiled. "Armin. Everyone. How are you?"

They sat round the tree and talked about the past three years, filling Mikasa in on everything she had missed. Mikasa smiled and nodded. She seemed to be looking at everyone, mentally noting the changes in their appearance and personality.

Jean realized he was staring at her when their eyes met. He blushed and gave her a wobbly smile. Man up Jean, he told himself. Go talk to her.

He stood up from his place and walked over to where Mikasa was seated. He hesitated for second before sitting beside her. What was he supposed to say to his crush of almost a decade who lost the man she loved?

Before he could think anything he blurted out: "I'm sorry."

The talking came to an abrupt stop and everyone stared at him. Mikasa blinked. "About what?" She asked, clearly confused.

Jean, at that moment, realized that he brought up a topic everyone was avoiding. He mentally cursed at himself. Since he had already messed up, he decided to continue with it and mess up his already messed up life.

"About Eren," he answered.

Mikasa opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. She tugged at her scarf quietly. After what felt like forever she said, "I'm trying to forget him. I'm trying to move on."

Jean was taken aback. "Mikasa," he started. "You don't have to forget someone to move on."

She stared at him like he had told her the sky was green. But he continued.

"I know it's hard, after all you've known Eren for most of your life. It's okay to feel sad, you know. Take your time. But, don't push yourself away from others. It'll just make the pain worse. And-And I lost Marco and Sasha, too. I've moved on, see? And I didn't forget them."

Mikasa's eyes were wide. She looked down at her hands. "I know, I know. It's just that everyone was telling me to just forget. It's been three years and I-I couldn't-"

She broke off. Jean noticed her hands were shaking. He took her hands in his and gave a reassuring squeeze. He tried his best to ignore the way his heart was beating out of his chest.

"Mikasa," Armin said, his voice was soft and caring. "Jean is right. We'll be with you from now on. So, you won't have be alone anymore." Armin flashed her his brightest smile.

"I'll be with you. We'll be with you," Jean said.

Mikasa looked down again. "Thank you. All of you."

Jean's hands felt wet and he realized that Mikasa was crying. Daringly, he put his arm around her shoulder and brought her close to him. He looked up only to see Armin, Connie and Reiner smirking at him. His face felt hot as he sent them all a glare.

Jean gave Mikasa his whole heart. Mikasa gave him the shattered remains of hers. Jean would damn well help her piece it back together. It wouldn't be the same as before, he knew that. But, who cares. He knew she would love him with all she has.

The first step towards the future Jean imagined was by mending a broken heart.

I won't forget you Eren. Mikasa looked up at the sky. But I think I found someone who will love me.

If anyone ever sees this it'll probably get alot of hate, and tbh im not really looking for a discussion just trying to get this off my chest, but I don't hate the John Walker character from FATWS.

And it just doesn't make sense, up until he straight up murdered that guy I had nothing against him.

He got put in a strange new role that no one could guide him and no one knew the rules to it, and Sam being mad at him was petty, like you gave it up man, and yeah you thought no one was going to use it, so it sucks the military lied to him, but then he should have been mad at the military and brought it up with them not doing everything to undermine John walker

Which is another thing that is against him, not only is he in a role that he didn't choose, didn't sign up for, was picked for and as a good military person said yes and did his duty, but the only two who properly worked the first Captain America, and most likely have a lot of respect in the military treat him like garbage.

They are facing a threat that is international so technically avengers level, and John now has that clearance with the shield, and they are giving him nothing, and he is doing everything by the books and trying to be respectful but they keep treating him like crap.

So yeah he starts to crack, you see home become ruder and more curt to them, like damn I would too

Then he gets his *** handed to him, and the not even soldiers line makes me feel bad, like given this impossible role, and he doesn't feel like he lives up to it already, but then when facing threats he should be able to take down, like regular people, he still fails and that, that just sucked

And up till then i really had no issue with him, even the wanting the serum part, like duh, he's facing insane threats and insane expectations, like it makes sense, likes Sam you fly, and have an ai robot, ofc you don't want nor need the serum( love Sam tho don't get me wrong) and he has a Frisbee

So right up till then no issues, but he's murdered someone, and honestly haven't even finished 6 cuz im really mad at how they treat him, but yeah what he did was awful, but the way Carly murdered his friend( and also burned that whole building of people, that sicko) and looked like a scared baby (which they did for a reason) and then he gets upset by his friends murder and they decided to villianise him sucks

Im losing my train of thought, anyways, John suck but only and only because of the murder, and its not because he murdered a man but the how, it wasn't in the heat of battle, but he chased him down just to get revenge (and yeah his best friend died) and it was also a really cruel way to die

But other than that he was wasn't awful, and then on top of that how Sam and James took back the shield was disgusting and just brings back the feeling bad for him, like he knew what he did was wrong , they should've gone back to the us and let them deal with it, he probably would have, but they only thought of the shield and broke his arm

And yes he was dangerous at that point, and should disarm him, but still they did it awfully

Also if it was Steve, like still alive and someone had just killed bucky like that and he went off to finish the job aint nobody was gonna be this pressed, which I totally get, we know Steve so people like Steve, but i find people refused to give walker a chance from the get go and looking for every chance to villianize him and that sucks

It also sucks that this is how they are trying to make Sam captain, like firstly i think its useless because he is falcon and i think he is great at that and shield doesn't go with the look, but like they are obviously tearing this character down just to build his and that's jut lame writing, Sam coming into on his own would have made for a much better story, or even the guy being great at his job but realising he didn't really earn this shield and having Sam take it back would have been great

Anyways i don't love John walker, i think hes kinda a goody two shoes character, and those have never been my fave, but i think he was well written and could make for a great bad guy later in if this is how they want it, and i know that sounds contradictory, but i don't need to love a character not to hate him, he was kinda boring, so it was neutral at the beginning, and while i think he leans more in the good guy lane, a lot of great villians come from good guys, so while villianising from the get go is stupid imo because he really wasn't, but since the show so obviously wanted him to be a bad guy to make Sam look better (which is so lame- also again i like Sam) then they did it poorly, that part where he's talking to Lamar about their badges and he knows while he did it for his country it was still awful actions, was a great insight and could have definitely be used later on, especially after Lamar's death, like he's done all these 'good things' and at what cost, his conscience, his friend's life? And then he goes bad, that would have been so much more interesting to see

Anyways he's obviously now the villain and from now out i don't think there any redeeming, but from the get go? Yall was wrong to hate, or at least i don't think he deserved all of that hate.

Also side note to that Carly remark its sucks they villainies John instead of the real villain, and are trying to make us sympathetic to her, but again they want to make John the ultimate baddie in this, so they can't have any other really bad villains, which is in an interesting way to go, but again it sucks because this is how they are building up Sam to be captain America and again I find that weak.

Like i said I haven't even finished 6 so who knows how worse he gets, also this is my opinion regarding the show, not anything to do with how he is in the comics, idc if he blows up the moon in the comics and is the ultimate villain, in this show, he had real potential to be a boring good guy character

Ok the whole thing w/ clogging up ao3 tags is stupid for multiple reasons, like how it fucks with screen readers for one, but the MAJOR issue is that having too many tags isn’t actually a problem w/ ao3

Like seriously guys? There is a lot to criticize. And I say this as someone who heavily relied on fandom spaces to get me through some really really hard times and still loves ao3. I can say I love what it does for fandom while also acknowledging there’s some seriously fucked up shit going on both behind the scenes and with ppl who use the site. It’s literally like saying “I love tumblr but I acknowledge there are literal nazis on here and as a Jew/human with a working brain I hate them and that they’ve been here so long”

Like. I get u think ur sticking it to the man or whatever. And idk I partially agree bc. There’s so much nasty shit and some technically illegal shit that I don’t want to even mention! But ur not even wasting the moderators time or anything ur just being obnoxious and then everyone starts discoursing on tumblr and I’m legitimately tired of it. I don’t wanna see ppl defending gross stuff and I’m tired of talking about the ppl who do defend gross stuff bc I don’t wanna remember that they exist bc I have shit to do irl and not enough space in my brain for them

So. Idk ima propose at least a temporary solution before I have to hear one more argument for or against censorship bc y’all seriously don’t understand how to have a nuanced conversation

How about instead of asking AO3 to take down gross fics (which may or may not be morally correct but will 100% reopen a very over done conversation) instead we ask for some specific plausible things

1) when you use ao3 explicit and unrated fics are automatically filtered out. They do this on ff.net. Yes it may be like 2 extra clicks for ppl who wanna read explicit stuff but ppl who don’t are going to do that anyway, and it protects the people who don’t know to do that and don’t want to read graphic tags. Most importantly it requires consent to browse explicit fics. Yeah you need to give consent to read explicit stuff, but you can look through the incredibly graphic tags/summaries without consenting to anything. It’s literally the default. Which is both upsetting to ppl who don’t wanna see that and also maybe a bit of a legal loophole they should close up

2) a “suggest tags” feature. This would be moderated by authors not ao3 staff. Basically ppl can like..... idk entire a series of tags and you can choose if you want to add them or not. The person submitting them has an option to be anonymous or not. Obviously the author doesn’t have to add every random tag and it might be annoying but it would help with making sure triggers got tagged. It would be helpful if it didn’t let you suggest tags that were already suggested/on the fic but I’m not too picky. Like I said the point of this is to make sure ppl can block stuff properly, and it honestly might also help authors with visibility bc like. Obviously you know the tags you use but you don’t know what tags other ppl look for. Again maybe it may be obnoxious with ppl having a lot of tags but people already have a lot of tags

3) a dispute rating button. Now before someone bitches at me that the ao3 moderators don’t have time to go through disputes- I know I already took that into consideration. Basically the idea is when you dispute the rating the site will ask you what rating you think it should be and anonymously log it. So if someone rated something M but you think it should be an E the site will log that and send a message to the author. The author has a choice if they actually want to listen to ppl and change the rating or not. They don’t actually have to listen to the ppl disputing the rating. Unless they get a certain amount of disputes. I was thinking maybe like 50 or so?* So if 50 ppl say “hey this really needs to have a different rating” then and only then would the moderators take a look at the fic. And the moderators would then figure out what the rating should be.

(*idk if 50 is the right #. I was thinking it should maybe work on like a percentage of your hits in the fic?)

3.5) have a sexual content marker. This is marked as 3.5 bc i feel like this idea if implemented would be misused. But yeah in theory you could just have a sexual content marker that could be clicked by the OP and then automatically filtered. Again you could use the system from #3 but again I feel like ppl would missuse it.

Anyway yeah. I wanted to give some viable solutions ppl on both sides might actually agree with. Like I get not wanting to make concessions with gross ppl, but it’s a lot faster so I’m ok with doing it for now while the rest of y’all continue to debate or w/e

Final note- please for the love of g-d learn how ratings work. Ask someone else’s opinion if you have too. I have seen so many explicit fics marked as mature or teen it’s a legitimate problem. I’ll give a quick rundown of what each rating means but pls guys

General- g- basically go by what you’d see in a Disney cartoon

Teen- pg/pg 13 - there are swears there’s violence, sex may be mentioned, you might call someone sexy or smthn idc, but no one is shown having sex or or discussing/thinking about it in detail

Mature- R - injuries/gore may be described with more detail. Uhh there could be some heavy making out and the characters might talk about sex or feeling sexually attracted to someone. But actual sex is not shown!! If you have to mention or refer to someone’s genetalia in any sexual way you should probably move it up to an E. Even if ur characters are fully clothed the entire time. Also If you’re talking about kinks outside of a quick joke or reference you should probably move it up to an E.

Explicit- NC 17- sexually explicit content. (You can put non-sexual violent stuff under here but most ppl leave it under mature)

Teen: implied sex

Some criticisms of Ao3 are valid and needed, and some are just stupid and infuriating (specifically talking about the tag thing stop it’s annoying and ableist). There is constant arguments and drama surrounding those criticisms, and I decided to offer some solutions that actually have a chance at getting implemented, even if I would prefer a different option.

anyways basically blue is always what they refer to the sky as, or the colour of blurays etc bc of Y’know some blue smth or other wavelength y’know the deal it’s science while indigo was mentioned in some bullshit Newton theory about colours and he mentioned indigo as a seperate colour bc at the same time pigments were becoming more indigo bc it was a ~richer blue~ and he needed a colour for some music note = colour theory or some bullshit I don’t know anyway that turned them into “two seperate colours” but indigo is ultimately something our eyes actually perceive I think and not blue? unless I got that mixed up in less than 5 minutes

and purple and violet is bc violet lies between blue and ultraviolet and some science-y bullshit about what our cones do which the red one hits a certain bit and turns into a violet and not blue which yknow. makes violet. while purple is strictly a mix between red and blue, and not what sits between it, but apparently computer screens can’t ever show true violet (which idc when you fuckin’.... look at prism crap violet is there not purple) BUT purple is just some trick of the eye that you make by mixing red and blue and etc etc you get the gist so technically purple and violet are different colours also but weren’t acknowledged as such the way blue and indigo were

also I feel as if “red orange yellow green blue indigo violet” must’ve been an American thing or something bc I’m pretty sure Australian schools taught “red orange yellow green blue purple” lol

especially because like madzie is implied to be used to big families, since iris was going around making an army of warlocks basically lmao and like of course that was an abusive family dynamic but the point is that she was used to having siblings. but she was also implied to be the eldest and now she is the youngest! and she gets to have a nice big bro who takes care of her and plays with her and has her as a priority and i just 🥺🥺🥺

and god not to be a slut for raphael and rosa but i picture raphael just telling madzie all that he could about rosa?? you know??? he’s all like “you have an older sister too, you know? it’s a shame you never got to meet” and madzie kind of tilts her head and asks him to tell her about it. so raphael does. he sits down with her and shows her pictures of the both of them together from their childhood up until her death, and he tells her all the stories he possibly can. he says, “she would have loved you just as much as me. she always wanted to be someone’s older sister. said she wanted to take care of them like i take care of her” and madzie is all like “she sounds sweet. i wanted to know her, too” and raphael tears up slightly and he’s like “yeah. yeah. me too, cariño” and she hugs him

and like not to slut over this but i like to think that raphael teaches madzie about the monarch butterflies and día de los muertos and one day they are playing outside and a monarch lands on madzie?? and madzie calls it “rosa” and the butterfly is just flying over her head, alternating between her and raphael, for the whole afternoon? and raphael chokes up. fuck it all the legends are true, i love this alright

just like.... obviously raphael’s relationship with madzie is not some kind of substitute for his relationship with rosa, because madzie deserves better than that and no one can be rosa but rosa. raphael loves madzie for madzie, because she is sweet but fierce, extremely intelligent and with a playful/slightly mischievous (in a good way) side that is slowly blooming as time goes by and she heals from her abuse more and more. she is also good, endlessly caring, kind, compassionate, imaginative, affectionate. madzie is madzie and that’s all she needs to be. but the idea that raphael has someone to share rosa with, even if madzie obviously doesn’t feel about her the same way raphael did as they never met, but to bring her into this new family in a way... and let madzie knows that she also has another sibling looking out for her, even if from another plane... that’s nice and good food okay. and i think madzie would want to know about her, just like she tells raphael about her other siblings from when she lived with iris, even if they never got to be too close (cuz i doubt iris would risk letting them become very close and eventually realize her abuse and possibly rebel against her) 

maybe it’s madzie herself who brings it up, she asks raphael about the pictures in his home or about his “ave rosa” plaque 🥺 and he tells her about it and makes sure that she knows that he doesn’t love rosa more or less than he does madzie, just differently. they are both his little sisters no matter what

anyway! onto more rapha&madzie focused headcanons. first of all you are so correct about playing dress up and shit, raphael is a SIMP and a sucker for his lil sis so he absolutely will wear a tiara if she asks no questions asked. simon sees it one time and he doesn’t even consider making fun of him because raphael shoots him a glare that absolutely reads as “i double dare you, motherfucker”. not because uwu girly stuff just because he has this whole serious vibe and there he is with a tiara and tiny braids. we stan

also look i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, raphael absolutely learns how to handle black/kinky hair for madzie. he was used to doing rosa’s hair but that was very likely straight or just wavy hair. madzie’s hair texture is different and raphael makes it a point to learn everything he can about how to take care of it and make hairstyles that she might like and won’t hurt her, okay? and yes i know that madzie straightens her hair but i like to think that over time she stops. i kinda headcanon that one of the reasons she did it was to look closer to iris, plus just the fact that as a white abuser i doubt she exactly planted it on madzie to love her natural hair. but over time living with catarina and being closer to a mostly-poc family and seeing maia and other beautiful black women with their natural hair and/or afro hairstyles, she stops straightening it, and everyone encourages her, raphael included. he even uses that, like, “i’ve been learning how to do these hairstyles for you, you know” and he shows her some and she gets so excited about trying them and it’s great

(initially he has catarina’s supervision, because again black hair is important and even if raphael is a moc he’s still nonblack. but catarina trusts him and he’s always so careful and makes sure to always listen to what she says, asks questions and all but takes notes lmao, so it works) 

and baking!!! i mean look madzie is gonna be naturally prone to liking to bake, as a warlock and shit. and if regular kids already play with making potions, warlock kids are definitely even worse, especially because she does see catarina, dot, and magnus doing that all the time so it’s one of the things that she likes to mimick. and baking is basically potion making but edible and solid lmao. but like she loves it, mixing the batter, adding sprinkles, seeing as the textures change and the taste builds and stuff like that, you know? she’s definitely fascinated by it especially because she does it without magic and it’s just, wow, so cool to her?? and raphael as the cook that he is is more than happy to teach her, bake with her, and see her enthusiasm. raphael with oven mitts taking a batch of cookies out of the oven yall. i need a second

and like i absolutely subscribe to genius madzie because LOOK that girl is endlessly fucking smart and so intelligent especially for her age, not to mention powerful and observant and just, she’s brilliant. and with both catarina and magnus, huge nerd extraordinaires, and possibly maia because i like to pepper in the fact that maia and raphael are dating, she gets all the incentive she could possibly want to want to learn about both mundane science and magical theory

but in short like! raphael getting her those chemistry sets for kids, you know? where you have some recipes and you can mix up ingredients and they change color or otherwise change and shit? my friend had one of those when we were kids and my god i loved it so much, i was just fascinated. i think madzie definitely would love it, and raphael knows that she will, so he takes a whole day off for when he brings her this gift because he knows they will be playing all afternoon. and they do! she’s super excited about it and raphael as usual is all careful and teaching her how to do it properly without spilling and taking the measures appropriately and stuff. and it’s super sweet

initially they follow the recipes and raphael’s autistic ass is just delighted to do that, but madzie quickly starts doing some #improv, and again, because she is a genius, she quickly starts to figure out what each substance does. so she’s texting theories, trying out experimenting, seeing if she’s right, trying to asses her work? you know? basically literally a mini scientist using the scientific method and stuff and raphael is so proud of her and in awe of how smart she is and he tells her that she’s the smartest kid he’s ever met and kisses her forehead and she giggles and is just super excited?? 

also sometimes she asks raphael what he thinks and he’s just like “uhhh” because he has no idea lmao he’s just happy to see her do her thing and help her with the practical parts. and she giggles at him and she’s lowkey outraged but again, she’s just sweet and he loves her

i also 100% think it was madzie who figured out a potion to make raphael able to eat (oh look what is this fic that mentions that doing here) because FUCK mundane raphael all my homies hate mundane raphael, the heavenly fire made him a daylighter. and she could see how sad raphael was that he didn’t get to eat at all, especially because he clearly loved food and he always had this sort of longing when they were cooking together, you know? it also made her sad that he couldn’t try her cooking, and he was always telling her that to cook, you need to always taste what you’re making, and once she says “but you can’t do that” and he looked so sad she immediately felt bad about it, even if obviously it isn’t her fault

anyway my point is she knows how much this means for raphael and she wants him to be able to eat human food again, both for him and for herself. so she spends a long time studying vampire anatomy/digestive system, food properties, and magic, and she eventually figures out a potion that he can take before a meal that makes him able to eat. it goes slowly, initially he can only drink, but eventually she does figure out a way to make him eat anything and he just cries like a baby tbh. she is worried for a second but then he takes her in his arms and hugs her fiercely and peppers kisses on her face and says that this is one of the best things anyone’s ever done for him and that he’ll “forever be in her debt” or something that makes her laugh because raphael doesn’t owe her anything, he’s her brother. and he tears up all over again

of course that takes some years but they’re immortal so who cares. and catarina is SO proud of her little genius for that, too. raphael and maia include the potion as courtesy for any vampire who orders food at taki’s and share the recipe and it’s just a small revolution in the vampire world and madzie is already making history like hot damn. GENIUS MADZIE OKAY

but of course first and foremost she is a kid and deserves to be a kid, i just love her being naturally curious and interesting in researching and learning and stuff. but of course they also play a lot, and keep trying to out-cheat each other as she has magic and he has super abilities and the game becomes more seeing who can cheat the most and get away with it than anything else lol. and it’s its own brand of fun

also, raphael keeps trying to get madzie to eat healthy but the second he averts his eyes she’s like “abrakadabra this is now ice cream” and he’s SO frustrated. absolutely nothing can stop her from doing it. “if you eat these carrots i’ll buy you ice cream later”. guess what she can just turn it into ice cream now. your tactics are meaningless

also madzie playing dressing up! and she wants to be Stylish like her mom and her big bro and her uncle magnus but of course she’s a kid so her sense of style is essentially book magnus lmao but raphael 100% indulges her in all her endeavours and helps her make her outrageous outfits and shit. she likes colorful stuff as we’ve seen and he paints her nails and stuff. sometimes she makes herself mini suits mimicking or straight up matching raphael’s and raphael thinks it’s the cutest thing. especially when she like, imitates his blazer but keeps wearing a boa as well or something. aioudjsauihda i love kids and fashion can you tell

and she sometimes picks out clothes for him and guess what? raphael 100% wears them because it’s madzie and he is s o f t for her

and singing!!! and DANCING!!! there is no way raphael can’t dance no matter how hard he tries to pretend otherwise, and between him, dot, and magnus, madzie just loves to dance and becomes a great dancer in no time. raphael loves twirling her around. also him teaching her the jarabe tapatío you can’t tell me that she wouldn’t be all over that shit. the playing with the dress, the bright colors, dancing around the sombrero.... bitch she would love it. and they have so much fun doing their little improvised version of that and she claps and he has his hands behind his back and has the greatest smile on his face and she’s having so much fun

also raphael loves reading for her!!!! and eventually when they move away from reading books with pictures she starts creating her own “holograms” to illustrate the stories with magic, and raphael is so proud of her!! she’s just immensively creative and makes such beautiful illustrations for the stories and as raphael reads she changes around the setting she’s creating and it’s so fun and they both like it so much?? and she eventually falls asleep on his lap and he tucks her in and kisses her forehead and 🥺🥺

she also likes to paint and idk why but i have a feeling that raphael fucking sucks at painting, so that’s funny and he smiles and says that she has so much more talent than him... 

and every time they are together raphael has the hugest smile on, it just doesn’t leave his face for a second. especially when they are playing outside in the sun and he just so fucking happy and basking in the warmth and playing with her, you know? and as madzie grows older, talking and just chilling together as well? you know? he just loves her so much and his cheeks almost hurt by the end and just aaaaaaaaa they are the sibling dynamic we DESERVE and DEMAND
