I've seen the "The first other superhero Clark meets in My Adventures With Superman should be Batman" people and have shrugged.
I've seen the "the first other superhero Clark meets in MAWS should be Green Lantern or J'onn J'onnz" people and have offered respect, but little more.
I raise you both: The first other superhero Clark meets in MAWS should be Ted Kord's Blue Beetle and/or Booster Gold. How does Clark Kent deal with meeting someone who's at least 3 points higher on the Himbo scale than he is?

if i was that idiot casey i wouldnt go after boosted old. i'd drop an anvil on his boytoy to really make him suffer. squish the beetle flat
Tumblr media
She knows who Ted is and had a vague idea that booster was probably in love with him but it was sadly unrequited(?) (they weren’t talking much or at all really when Casey worked for booster) so she probably didn’t think of him much past “uhhh the blue…. Bug.. something… no I got it hang on.. BEETLE”
There are a number of reasons why Casey kept her sights on booster alone
She really doesn’t have any beef with ted. She’s evil and mean but she doesn’t really want to go out of her way to (physically) hurt some rando that isn’t booster when she could be focusing her energy on the person she actually wants to make suffer (same reason she doesn’t go after Michelle or Rani when she finds out about them… errr physically, again. She does hurt Michelle’s feelings a bit)
Also she doesn’t know Ted as well as she knows booster. A big reason why she was able to get the jump on him was in part because she’d been working for him so long and knew things about him that would give her the upper hand even temporarily. She literally only knows that Ted used to be friends with booster and now they aren’t. She’d probably get her ass kicked faster than usual
Also unbeknownst to her is that her future girlfriend would not have fucking looked at her with anything but hatred if she had been the one to squash the blue beetle

dp x dc idea
dp x blue beetle movie
so something like
(not film universe)
Danny is 18 and has gotten a job at kord (to like idk to spite Vlad or his skill) and is called for a meeting with the CEO ted kord
or (film universe)
Danny was taken as phantom by kord to see if his ghostliness could help the construction of the OMAC (One Man Army Corp)
or (either work but preferably a weird fusion of the two)
Danny has one of the scarabs like Mabey a green one or red or blue or black I'm not sure what a protector/space core would get
or (either work but preferably a weird fusion of the two)
Danny and jazz go camping and something happens.
prompt:
(i would probably make it so Danny was 16 when he became ghost for this so he's still new to the ghost thing but older so just imagine Danny was born a few years earlier than in the normal timeline)
Danny was newly 18 and decided him and jazz should go camping together also so he could finally tell jazz he was phantom
a few hours later they have 2 tents up and ghost shield (jack and Maddie made them take it) set up jazz decides to go for a walk to relax (she agreed for two reasons 1. to bond 2. to tell Danny she knows he's phantom)
while jazz is walking she sees an odd green glow from under some bushes taking out the Fenton bat she slowly approaches and jumps out at the green glow....
its an old meteor... made of kryptonite with... a god damn skeleton sticking out suddenly a odd scarab looking thing fly's out at jazz (input the scene from blue beetle the movie but with jazz and in a forest)
mean while Danny was trying to find a way to reveal himself to jazz when he sees something humanoid fly out of the forest
putting off the reveal for the moment he starts to change
lightning arcs up from Danny's left arm in a beautiful sequence as his clothes burn away and are replaced with an burned rubber hazmat suit taking its place the lightning arcs up over his mouth replacing it with a nightmarish maw with too many teeth and white hair with small black remains showing its old colour
this new being launches off to see what the mysterious flying humanoid could be
end prompt (you could swap roles and have Danny go for a walk and have jazz be overthinking on how to tell Danny she knows he's phantom)
i decided to try and describe how i feel Danny should transform for fun =]
also the info is from @mac-cheez (who also has a whole conversation/argument/scheduling with @arrowheadedbitch on the post asking for info on the scarabs )
In Young Justice, there's three colors Black (Warriors), Blue (Scouts), and Green, but there's also Red Beetle (Sara Butters) who I don't think appears in that peice of media. Those are the main ones that I know of. I recommend the wiki for blue beetle and the reach I find the history and dynamics very interesting and great plot material.

I really wanna talk about Blue Beetle and why it's so important to me. SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!
Ever since this movie was announced, I was excited because I have familiarized myself with the character of Jaime Reyes for over a decade now. My sister introduced to me to the character when we had our late night Young Justice marathons during a vacation in Mexico back in 2013. Eventually, we got to season 2, where Jaime was introduced. I remember when he would speak Spanish, I would say "Hey he speaks Spanish like us!" And sometimes my non-English speaking cousins would join us watching the show, and when he spoke Spanish, they were able to understand him. As time went on I kinda forgot about DC for a while since I was gaining other interests until Young Justice came back for its 3rd and 4th seasons(This is also your subtle sign that if you haven't watched Young Justice you should do that). Naturally, Jaime is still one of my favorite characters in the show. While I was still in my Young Justice hyperfixation, It was announced that a Blue Beetle movie was happening and even had some concept art shown. Me being the superhero loving Mexican nerd that I am, I was already hyped, and we hadn't even gotten a trailer yet. Then, on April 3rd of this year, the first trailer came out, and I was so excited. DC has been one of my special interests since literally as long as I can remember no joke one of the first shows I ever remember seeing was the original Teen Titans and so combine one of my special interests with one of the most important parts of my identity(my ethnicity) and an excuse to go to the movies? I was stoked. And so I finally saw it a couple of days ago, and I LOVED it. From the family dynamic to the music choices(La Chona in the beginning where Rudy was introduced was the most Mexican introduction ever and I love it.) and even a few references to Mexican culture I didn't expect, Blue Beetle was everything to me. Finally a movie centered around a Mexican family that wasn't afraid to go into topics like immigration and straight up racism towards Mexicans and those topics not taking up the whole story while also not stereotyping any of these characters and treating them like real people. These guys did their research, and it showed. During the part where Jaime comes back to Earth and starts saying something in Spanish, he's saying a prayer. I used to say that particular prayer a lot back when I was a kid, which is a good thing they added that in there because it makes relatable to someone like me. I really wanna make note of one of my favorite scenes from the movie. So after Jaime gets the Scarab and it attaches itself to him, he tries to find a way to get it off him. Once they go to Ted Kords' hidden lab and find out he can't get rid of it safely, he angerly walks out. His uncle Rudy follows him up to the roof. Rudy asks if Jaimes ok and Jaime apologizes for yelling at Rudy. Rudy then starts giving a really good talk about the family and how resilient they are. Then he says this. "I mean, look at your old man. He brought me here from Sonora....when I was 10." No joke, just ask @alextric-overload(Hey dude 😁) and my other friends who came with me, I legitimately gasped in that theater. Why? Because that's where my family is from. Never before did I ever imagine Sonora would even be mentioned in any media let alone a big screen superhero movie but I am so glad it was and I've said it before and I'll say it again: Never in my life have I felt so seen and so represented. The moment those credits rolled, I legit said word for word, "This! This is how you do representation. MORE. OF. THIS. PLEASE." This is why representation is so important because if we continue to make movies like this, more people like me can see themselves in media and feel the way I did. REPRESENTATION MATTERS! So please go support this movie if you haven't already, it's so worth it!

random ted kord hc's because im going insane and need to spread propaganda SOMEWHERE.
love language (giving)
ive done alot if thinking about this one and have come to the conclusion that his love languages are acts of service and gift giving. i kinda based this decision off of how he acts with babs and booster in countdown to infinite crisis. dude is about to go bankrupt AGAIN but he's still offering to pay for tickets and lets booster borrow his card, even if it negatively affects him. hes a superhero for one but also his entire reasoning behind becoming the second blue beetle was because he feels like he OWES it to dan, he wants to make up for his blind faith to his uncle which lead to dans death. i think he loves doing favours for people because it makes him feel good about himself, and he loves the feeling of being appreciated.
love language (receiving)
words of affirmation and physical touch. he has boundaries when it comes to the physical touch of course, but booster is the main exception, with ted being quite touchy himself at times. i like to base this off of the first appearance of dan's death in blue beetle 1967 where as dan says his last words hes caressing teds face UGHH that shit fucks me up man -- but i can definitely imagine him melting in someones hands if they held his face or something (booster, of course).
then theres the words of affirmation. ted gets compliments alot, obviously, usually due to his status in hub city and his intelligence. but there are times where he feels unappreciated or isnt taken seriously, usually by higher ranked heroes (cough cough BATMAN cough) . in countdown to infinite crisis (yes im referencing this comic AGAIN im SORRY) he is pushed aside constantly by multiple people. the few people who did listen to him, namely superman and wonderwoman, its stated in booster gold 2007 he "felt bad for wasting their time.". ted needs reassurance, he needs to be reassured that he isnt a bother. though at times a wise-cracking jerk, he still does care about how others view him. and spending like most or his childhood being put down by his father and then years later by heroes he works with he deserves someone telling him he's doing good once in awhile 😭.

One Day
Summary: Jaime had not considered that there would be some injuries Khaji could not heal, not until he’s standing before the bathroom mirror and staring, horrified, at the scars tracing along his body. Written for the prompt: What if Jaime developed lichtenburg figures from the machine that just won't go away for some reason?
The first time Jaime sees the scars, he is in the master bathroom of Jenny’s abandoned mansion.
He wakes up on the dusty mattress of her parents bed, hair pressed flat on one side of his head and drool drying on his cheek. Disoriented by the moth eaten sheets beneath him, it takes him a moment to sit up from where he’s been lying on his stomach, pushing himself up with shaking arms. His whole body aches, down to his teeth when he grits them and groans.
The pulsing agony that courses its way through him is not unlike what he imagines it would feel like to be hit by a bus. In fact, he thinks, a bus might actually be kinder. He takes assessment of himself in increment pieces. There is dried blood streaked across his abdomen, it is the easiest thing to spot when he shifts to sitting with his back against the headboard and presses inquisitively at the warm skin with probing fingers. There is no surface wound, but Jaime can distantly remember the sharp pain of something tearing through him with the ease of a knife through butter. There is far less blood on him than he would have thought, given the way it had felt pooling tacky between his skin and the suit, which Jaime thinks must mean someone had wiped most of it away. He tries to remember who it might have been, but his last coherent thought is of watching Ignacio walk into a burning inferno, dragging Victoria Kord behind him as if she were loose cargo.
His thighs and legs burn with a tender soreness that throbs when he moves, but otherwise they seem fine. His arms ache, and there’s dirt crusted under his fingernails, but they otherwise are clean. Jaime has been dressed in satin blue trackpants with faded gold stars marching in an even line down the sides. He recognizes the clothing from Ted Kord’s abandoned closet. They were the pair he had intentionally ignored when Jenny told him to take whatever he wanted, which means he did not dress himself. He does not know how long he has lain in this bed, inhaling the moldy stench of decay that’s settled over everything in the mansion, but it’s been long enough that Khaji Da has managed to heal most of his wounds on the surface level.
“Khaji?” He asks into the empty space, eyes searching the room even as he knows he won’t see them and feeling at his back for where tender flesh meets the hard surface of the scarab.
“I am here, Jaime.” They reply, immediately, as if they were only waiting for Jaime to remember the feeling of their presence at the back of his mind. And he does feel it, more than he has since they first burrowed inside him and built a home out of his body. If he focuses on them hard enough he can almost hear their thoughts, feel the bone deep exhaustion that mirrors his own.
“Are we okay?”

I keep thinking abt Ted Kord and his loony toons relationship with cops, SPECIFICALLY his theoretical relationship with Jim Gordon. Imagine saying something sexist to your daughter and the next morning all of the furniture in your office is upside down. Imagine you made a tasteless joke about affirmative action and now there are 60 small Bluetooth speakers (all playing ska) hidden around your home. Ik I've briefly speculated about Ted & Jim meeting before (glue trap, shaved moustache, etc) but like. Does Babs think about that too. Does she ever have a bad argument and think "can't let Ted find out about this or he'll start paying kids on the street to make (doctored) viral videos of my dad peeing his pants a little bit at press conferences. Again."

I'm picturing all of the Quirkless Quartet fighting differently. I'm imagining Melissa with Powered Armor like Iron Man, Yuga using traditional weaponry like Bows and Rapiers (like Green Arrow or a good version of the Cavalier), Izuku using gadgets a la Batman or the Ted Kord Blue Beetle, and All Might being a Brawler like Wildcat.
Yeah basically

Shouting OC nonsense into the void again
Tumblr media
Something I’m guilty of with OCs is focusing so hard on making them a character that could stand on their own, that I tend to isolate them from the very rich fictional universe they are a part of. So I gotta force the OC to go play with others.
Here, Goatguy comes across an alien experiment that crash landed outside of Hub City. The Lilo and Stitch vibes are strong with this one, but the alien (currently named Squiikins, I’m working in that), comes off harmless until it morphs into a monstrosity.
Enter Kyle Rayner, who forces Goatguy to ignore his Prey Instinct to run, and reminds him they are heroes, and need to face adversity, not flee from it. Kyle would be a good friend to Goatguy’s alter ego Owen, as they’re both imaginative artists.
So you can add Kyle to the short list of Bic Sage and Ted Kord that Goatguy interacts with.

I have once again watched a movie
I went to a movie theatre for the first time since February of 2020 (when a friend and I went to a broadcast of the Met's amazing production of Agrippina with Joyce Di Donato). We went to see Blue Beetle during a Monday matinee in an almost completely empty theatre (there was one man in the very back). It was my first superhero film since the Spiderman with Mysterio unless we're counting the werewolf thing which I know I wrote some words about and it's my first DC film since.

Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker?
Man, Batman Beyond was a good time.
I had a lovely time. I came out of it wondering why comic book fans are so surly and defensive about what critics say about their movies because can you imagine going into a movie made about a thing you already like and it's big and fun and colourful and you get to enjoy an adaptation of a thing you like; that's a treat! Perhaps too many treats have spoiled the Marvel fans. The only time I've gone into a movie adapting something I loved was the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie that came out when I was in university (and maybe Takashi Miike's Ace Attorney movie). This was my first time getting to see one of these superhero movies about a character I knew and liked.
Who was a Blue Beetle movie for? It was for me and the two friends I went to see the movie with; we are the Blue Beetle fans. Lady-type people in their late 30s and early 40s and we all enjoyed ourselves. It was just fun and sweet and if it seemed heavy at times with making sure its themes were driven home, it's a comic book family movie for kids and part of it was drawing strong parallels between violent imperialism/colonialism and soft imperialism/colonialism which as far as themes in a superhero movie go -- good choice.
It was fun. I've always liked Jaime and his sentai-inspired suit translates well to the screen. Xolo Maridueña is great casting. His hair is fluffy. Adriana Barraza as Jaime's Nana is a powerful presence in scenes even during the first act when she's mostly quiet. Damián Alcázar and Elpidia Carrillo as Jaime's parents are warm and frustrating in equal measures. George Lopez s Uncle Rudy is incredibly charming. Bruna Marquezine is Jaime's love interest, Jenny Kord, and the biggest suspension of disbelief the movie asks of us is believing Ted Kord got married and reproduced. She's got good vibes and costuming lets her be taller than Maridueña, pretty much always wearing heels. Belissa Escobedo is Milagro, Jaime's younger sister, who is the perfect trolling, cynical younger sibling just subtly under Jaime's shadow. There is one white person in this movie and it's Susan Sarandon as smilingly kind and evil industrialist Victoria Kord. There's no token good white ally.
Also Sarandon is bringing big Piper Laurie as Catherine Martell energy and we have to appreciate it.
It's an origin story ande a hero's journey story and very standard stuff but it's colourful and the hero's family are involved at every point instead of being background emotional gravitas for his character. Much like Jaime's comic book origins, an under-represented demographic is given a chance in the spotlight and has the added advantage of being created by people who are able to bring their own experiences and a sense of authenticity to what might otherwise be route.
OMAC's there. What a choice.
I don't need dozens of these movies. I don't need every DC hero dug up and given this treatment. But this was fun and an unexpected surprise. A superhero movie can just be a story about a guy and his family dealing with some wild shit.
I hope creators Keith Giffin, John Rogers, and Cully Hamner got some money from it.
Imagine, Infinite Crisis having a positive impact after all these years.
