Peter Quill - one, right before he was abducted from Earth by Yondu and the Ravagers after the passing of his mother. Two, with his combat mask which I didn't include in the initial post.
Peter being a mundane if-not-a-little-unpopular kid who didn't have a full grasp of his identity definitely turned the whole 'alien abduction' thing into something that massively inflated his ego, even if living with the Ravagers sucked in reality. I mean, if you surround yourself with comic books and movies it's easier to see the whole ordeal as 'destiny' and yourself as 'someone destined for greatness'. Basically his issues at the time culminated into Peter Quill never really growing up, like - at all. And now he's a man-child who WHOLLY believes he's a superhero and a man of destiny and is actually incompetent at some (if not a lot) of things. Star-Lord being a loser is fundamental to me.
Also. He had braces as a pre-teen and never got them removed after going to space. It is really funny, but also is representative of how insistent he is on not dealing with anything related to his past or growing up. But it's mostly funny
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, Rocket, Groot and Peter are roommates/co-workers buddies/the Three Stooges before the actual superhero team is formed. Their ship is NASTY DISGUSTING

the prank + swm
As a Jily writer with a canon 7th year longfic, I've obviously thought a lot about these canon moments, and while I normally prefer to communicate my ideas and head canons through my writing instead of via meta format, after seeing this topic resurface a bit recently, I thought I'd throw this angle into the ring.
It starts with the tree.
"They planted the Whomping Willow the same year that I arrived at Hogwarts. People used to play a game, trying to get near enough to touch the trunk. In the end, a boy called Davey Gudgeon nearly lost an eye, and we were forbidden to go near it." "I told you, months ago, that the Whomping Willow was planted the year I came to Hogwarts. The truth is that it was planted because I came to Hogwarts. This house" — Lupin looked miserably around the room — "the tunnel that leads to it — they were built for my use." — Remus Lupin, PoA
We know the Whomping Willow was planted at Hogwarts when Remus enrolled to cover up the opening of the secret passage to the Shrieking Shack — but the students didn't know that. The older students, sure, may have noticed that they didn't remember the tree being there when they were younger, but they'd be totally uninvolved in the drama of 5th years. And for 5th years and below, for all they knew, the tree had always been there — as much a part of Hogwarts as the groundskeeper's hut or the Forbidden Forest.
Now, we also know that students knew about the tunnel in a lore sort of way:
"And you're being really ungrateful. I heard what happened the other night. You went sneaking down that tunnel by the Whomping Willow, and James Potter saved you from whatever's down there—" — Lily Evans, DH
And we know Dumbledore encouraged lore about the Shrieking Shack:
"The villagers heard the noise and the screaming and thought they were hearing particularly violent spirits. Dumbledore encouraged the rumor…Even now, when the house has been silent for years, the villagers don't dare approach it." — Remus Lupin, PoA
From this, I don't think it's far-fetched to conclude that not only were the students/villagers completely ignorant of any sort of connection between the Whomping Willow and the Shrieking Shack, but that the students would have been gaslit (intentionally) into thinking that the Whomping Willow had always been there and was a source of hidden danger not unlike the Forbidden Forest.
And when viewed from that angle, it means that not only was Snape clever enough to have uncovered not just Lupin's secret but Dumbledore's — but that because of the encouraged, gaslighting lore built up around the tree itself, to the rest of the students (to Lily), it looked like Snape was just another kid taking his shot at getting past a violent tree and into some secret, legendary tunnel with some secret, legendary scary thing at the bottom of it — and he failed. He failed so bad, in fact, that another student had to save him. And not just any other student, but his archenemy who normally bullied him. Snape's situation was so dire that the popular, spoiled Gryffindor kid who usually trades hexes with him on the regular took pity on him and went into the tunnel of lore after him to save him!
Can you imagine how that conversation would have gone in the Headmaster's office? "Yes, Severus, you figured it all out. No, you may not tell anyone under any circumstances — or else." And then can you imagine how angry James would be at Snape for knowing more than he should? And then how angry Snape would be that James gets to walk away from this situation looking like the hero while Snape looks like the loser who had to be rescued from the tree, all while knowing that Dumbledore (and James, and Sirius, and Peter, and Remus, and maybe even other teachers), are all gaslighting the student body for Remus's benefit?
And what did the students at large think was down at the bottom of the tunnel? If James had to rescue Snape from "whatever's down there" does that mean there were rumors as to what that was? Was James not talking (being ~mysterious~), or was he spinning tales, encouraging rumors, just like Dumbledore had done? Did Snape try and change the narrative (without tiptoeing too close to anything that would get him in trouble for outing Remus), or did he just endure it?
Regardless of those finer details, I think this was a seismic shift in the power game between James and Snape. Because it wasn't about cat and mouse anymore, it wasn't about dueling — it was about knowledge. It was about having cards. They'd both participated in spinning a PR narrative (even though on Snape's part it was begrudgingly), they both came away from it feeling like there was still hell to pay, and they both had leverage over the other person.
By the time we skip forward to O.W.L.s not long after, tension between them is at an all-time high. We all know James's side of that in terms of wanting to protect Remus, Snape being a long-standing enemy, and being angry about Snape knowing about Remus. But what I think is often missing — what really balances out the power play going on between them — is Snape's angle of being blisteringly angry at James. It's not only that Snape knows about Remus and can't out him (though that's obviously a huge part of it) — it's that Snape has had to watch (and even perpetuate) a false narrative about himself that shows James — his bully, his enemy — in a positive light.
And on James's side (and I want to be really clear this isn't an attempt to excuse his actions, just an attempt to dissect James's emotions as a character), I think he was positively furious that the person whose sole mission in life seemed to be to get one of his best friends kicked out of school — the person who was openly infatuated with the Dark Arts, which James despised — the person who was friends with the girl James was utterly smitten with but who didn't fancy him back, let alone even like him — knew the whole truth and had the power to expose them.
And simultaneously, because of the fact that James had Dumbledore "on his side" and was the one person personally benefiting from the aftermath of the situation ("I heard what happened…James Potter saved you"), I think he was gloating harder than he'd ever gloated before. He was positively drunk on the attention. He'd protected his friend, and he'd gotten the glory for it, and everyone (including the girl he liked) thought he'd faced off with the mysterious scary thing at the bottom of the mysterious tunnel no one's ever gotten into in order to RESCUE somebody (chivalry! honor! bravery!), and Snape couldn't say ANYTHING!! (Well, he theoretically could (grr) but he wouldn't, not with the all-mighty Dumbledore telling him not to.) It was like having a foot on Snape's neck, and the victory of it tasted so sweet he didn't want Snape to forget it for a second.
A defining trait of James is that he's reckless (especially when he's younger). James doesn't have the fear he should have, and what he lacks in fear he makes up for in arrogance. He doesn't back off from bullying Snape out of fear or worry that Snape will retaliate by outing Remus because it's not James's threat keeping Snape quiet — it's Dumbledore's. James merely has the na-na-naNAna leverage of being the one who can flaunt his cards in Snape's face knowing that Snape can't/won't use his. And so he does.
It's ugly. It's cruel. And it's a round in their endless fight that not only goes to James but that leaves Snape thirstier than ever for revenge.

Waiting for chapter 25 and a brief recap of my thoughts post ch 24
On this side of the globe it's still October 14th, although there are only a few hours left for the new chapter!!!
So I started reading my notes from the previous chapters, the last chapter of the manga and the little that has been published of the next ch and although we didn't have much BL development in ch 24, I'm glad that the 10 second rule was modified considerably (Hirano already established that each one has 10 seconds) but I want our favorite blond boy to keep asking for it, and start longing for that little time that is just for the two of them.
Tumblr media
But beyond the beautiful panels that this chapter left us (I insist, Kagi is more and more handsome and Hirano is drawn more and more cute)
Tumblr media
what I liked the most is that the importance of Hanzawa's homophobic stance finally comes to light.
So the story is no longer just about getting around Hirano's dense head and his denial/non-denial, but also Hanzawa's prejudices... it seemed to me that not everything could be so simple and that somewhere we would see those clues that were raised in HRKG's novel and that we saw little of in SSMY.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But beware, while in SSMY he supports the boys' relationship, I fear that for KGHR the situation is not so simple (we have already seen him extremely worried about their relationship),
Tumblr media
So I think that this is where we will see the change of mentality.
I think that Hanzawa will leave part of his homophobia because of Hirano, since he is his friend and I don't think that Hirano will be so kind as to try to tolerate his position when he already knows that his beloved Kagi could get hurt. So naturally he will defend him from anything including his own friends.
So we can say that Hirano is not only the cornerstone of the SSMY/HRKG universe (being the key piece for the other two to meet, and protagonist of the 2nd), but he is also the one who leads Hanzawa on the right path. My dear grumpy blond
Tumblr media
And I loved that Kagi thinks that everyone will be fine as long as they don't see them, forewarned is forearmed… Although if they keep arguing loudly I don't think they'll be able to hide it so easily…. Nor will the love-struck faces he openly makes at Hirano help him stay in the safety of his bedroom closet.
Tumblr media
My poor and sweet boy. Not only will he have to fight against Hirano's lack of understanding, but against the homophobia of his environment. In that aspect, maybe HRKG is a little more difficult than ssmy, where they were accepted immediately?
I loved chapter 24, but I'm looking forward to seeing what Hirano thought/felt at that moment… (I've been obsessed with that panel for months) so I have all the faith that in ch 25 we will be able to see the story through Hirano-san's feline eyes.
Tumblr media
On another note… I want to emphasize that Hirano will be an attentive boyfriend. Not knowing what to say, he went to look for Kagi-kun after his jealous attack over Sasaki, just to make sure he was okay. Also, it must be acknowledged that he not only cares about his feelings, but he already knows how to read them, so his communication progresses more fluidly (although of course, his outbursts are still much more effusive than normal). And this is where I see more possibilities, he no longer only cares about him, now he can read him perfectly and put his needs before himself… Dude, you are so screwed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next chapter has me anxious. Just the title of chapter 25 makes me think of everything I've been considering, and that maybe those many sides of Hirano are seeing how he behaves in his daily life, with his friends, family and Kagi, and how different he is with the latter.
I feel like this chapter is going to be tasty, I want to avoid spoilers, but I don't know if I'll be able to
And about the upcoming announcements, I just hope it's that volume 5 is coming! I've been waiting for it for so long that I feel like when they announce it, I'm going to die, revive, pre-order all the mangas with the extras, and die again.
I hope volume 6 has Hirano really understanding that he does love Kagi, and that we finally get past March and see him with his black hair

search engines are hot garbage now, exhibit 455:
So I was wondering about the effects of testosterone on ear wax. (for unnecessary context, i recently started hrt)
Tumblr media
I know that the HRT they're talking about is cis women taking estrogen to offset the reduced production during menopause. It's meant to This result here implies that maintaining your estrogen levels would cause itchy ears, which doesn't make a lot of sense.
The "..." is a bit suspicious, isnt it? Let's see the whole context.
Tumblr media
Well would you look at that, it's the exact opposite. So where does the second part come from?
Tumblr media
Outstanding, truly.
It combines two unrelated parts of the article, which said essentially the same thing, into saying the opposite.
And here's a little visual:
Tumblr media
Green are the used sentences, red is removed vital context, and grey is the stuff in between that gets ignored. (There's more above and below this part, it makes up about half of the article.)
And this is why you shouldn't trust any fucking AI summaries.
also remember that i was looking for the effects of testosterone lol

" I ship Toons x Handlers. Not anything like Sam x Sprout, but Sam x Teagan and Sam x Gigi. I don't believe that every toon that has been made started off as a child. I actually think that Toodles is the exception to this. I think Toon Handlers were more like assistants/bodyguards to actors which would be toons in this case rather than parents. They help the toons with stuff but that doesn't always mean parental. I believe most toons don't start out as kids because if they did, Sprout would be a flower not a strawberry. Also Qwel seems fine with these ships but I still might get attacked like I did for my Glisten x Teagan ship. "

It frustrates me when people interpret that one moment in Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #120 as Dick not trusting Cass, because it's so much better and it also just makes more sense contextually when you understand that it's actually Dick not trusting Bruce's judgement.
Tumblr media
(from Robin (1993) #67)
In panels above, which are part of a comic that takes place before Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #120, Dick expresses frustration over Bruce suddenly calling them in, disrupting anything they had going on in their lives. Dick specifically at the time was in training at the police academy, and this ended up disrupting that whole situation.
There is also the frustration from him at the idea of being a last resort, instead of a person that Bruce feels he can rely on for help. Dick had offered earlier to help Bruce out in Gotham, but Bruce wanted him gone. It's only now that Bruce has messed up that he realized that he needs help. If he's supposed to be Bruce's equal, a partner, shouldn't Bruce be more comfortable asking for his help?
Tumblr media
(from Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #120)
The panels above take place, earlier in the issue, before the confrontation between Dick and Bruce. We see that Helena rejects Bruce's orders and Bruce in turn rejects her help entirely. She points out how Dick in contrast, will always come to heel.
Tumblr media
(from Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #120)
The panel above takes place right after the confrontation with Helena. "[Bruce] can't push her like that and expect her to play along." But can he push Dick like that and expect Dick to play along?
Tumblr media
(from Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #120)
The panels above show the beginning of the confrontation in question. Dick makes it clear that he's no longer able to trust Bruce as he once did. His faith in Bruce is damaged.
It's also made clear that the doubt is specifically about Bruce rather than about Cass when he says, "Six months ago that would've gotten further than it will now."
Tumblr media
(from Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #120)
Bruce explains his reasoning thoroughly and yet Dick still doubts Bruce's judgement. Dick doesn't look at Cass, he looks at Bruce when he says, "You're so certain." It's not that he doubts Cass, it's that he doubts Bruce.
Tumblr media
(from Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #120)
Even when Bruce shares his more personal understanding of Cass's situation in an attempt to appeal to Dick, Dick does not accept it.
Tumblr media
(from Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #120)
Once Babs expresses her trust in Cass, Dick easily accepts it. The way Dick accepts Babs's approval after a brief explanation contrasts with Dick's rejection of Bruce's more lengthy one. Babs sees Dick far more as an equal than Bruce does, or at least that may be how Dick sees it. This illustrates how it isn't so much the explanation itself, but the person giving it that leads to Dick's acceptance of Cass.
Dick holds resentment for Bruce because Bruce rejected his initial offer to help and then later, Bruce all of a sudden expects Dick to drop everything to come help. And of course Dick does. Dick will always come whenever Bruce asks. but it would have been much easier for both Dick and Bruce if Bruce had just accepted help in the first place.
