Hi popcorn! I'm recently interested in Aegon/Jaehaera's dynamic. I try to find some fics on ao3 but I am really frustrated by the results. I'm a canon-based fanfic lover, which is why I really like your fic. However all fanfics of this ship change their dynamics horrificly different from canon, which l'd say I feel them become writers' OC rather than who they really are in the book. The tragic and interesting part of them is that they both experienced similar trauma due to each others parents, then they have to face the ultimate forced union to make peace.Their experience is similar but they are on the opposite side, they never try to understand each other. Maybe there are sympathy and hatred coexisting in their relationship, which may get better if Jaehaera lives. That's the particular dynamic I want to see. But the fanfics of this ship just easily erase the bloody past of "my mother was eaten by your father" or "my brother was beheaded on your fathers order", instead focus on how they pity each others pang and fall in love. That's kind of a cheating way to write a complicated relationship. They have similarities but they have even more obstacles to truly understand each other. Writers don't know how to deal with it so just change their character traits, make them totally different persons. That's one of the awkward parts of these fics. The other wierd part is that writers tend to set up Daenaera as an imaginary rival by depicting her as a failed seducer or an unwanted second wife. The logic is weird bc Daenaera has nothing to do with the tragedy of Jaehaera. Their marriage ended tragically due to their own miscommunication and the murderer Peake. If there has to be an evil female rival It should be Myrielle. But sarcastically Aegon treated lady Turnip even better than he did with Jaehaera in canon.

What's your interpretation of their dynamics? Or do you know if there's a better way to write this kind of relationship? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

So, I have explored my thoughts about Aegon III and Jaehaera as a ship here I don't know if you ever stumbled upon it. But this sums up what I think well.

Because in the end I am not interested and because of some issues I have, that I mention in the post, I never lost a lot of time thinking about them and their potential.

I understand your frustration, I do, and I have said it before and will again that the asoiaf fandom is not as strong as others fanfiction wise. Never was. In my days of reading it I can tell you I think I found like 3-4 fics I thought were absolute masterpieces but other than that I couldn't go past 2-3 chapters. It was just... no. Just a no.

At the end of the day though, when we are consuming free content we can't really be picky 🤷🏽‍♀️

When we want something specific and can't find it, I am of the mind that we should take an active approach. This was what I convinced myself to do. So, if I want to read something and it doesn't exist and I have good insights on the characters and what I want, I can write it. If I couldn't write it I could maybe try to commission someone to write it for me with my specific instructions.

With writing, I like my writing, despite it's flaws, and I do enjoy the process and going back and reading my stuff, but I can't draw, so if I want something I may try to find an artist willing to take a commission from me. It's a win-win (despite the fact that the artist has to put up with me), I get what I want and they get paid and if nothing else can get some practice.

lando has been on the call for way too long now.

he promised he’d just go for one more round on the sim with george and alex, but that was almost two hours ago. you are bored, and the shows on the tv in lando’s living room are not doing enough to help you forget about your boyfriend neglecting you.

when you finally get off the couch and go over to his room, lando is in the exact same position as he was when you left him; body relaxed back against the sim chair, legs spread wide, head slump back against the headrest. he's laughing at something george has just said when his eyes fall on you in the doorway.

"oh, my girl is here!" he exclaims, reaching out a hand towards you as you move closer. "the boys say hi."

you intertwine your fingers with his, leaning down to the mic of his headset. "hi, boys!"

he takes a quick moment to mute himself from the call, looking back up at you. "what's up?"

"can i join you?"

his face lights up. "do you want to play?" his expression then changes when he sees you shaking your head.

"i just want to sit."

he can't quite grasp what you're saying. it doesn't click until you step so close that your knees are bumping against his thigh, just before you drape one of your legs over his lap, sitting down on top of him. lando blinks at you and gulps, not able to control the tent already forming in his pants when you shuffle to find a comfortable position. you know he has always had a weakness for you sitting on his lap, so the innocent eyes and the sweet pout you're showing off are nothing but an act. "is something wrong?" you ask, one of your hands coming up to stroke his cheek as he shivers.

"lando? where did you go, mate?"

in a matter of just seconds, he had managed to forget about his friends and the round they were playing. he's forgotten about everything that isn't you and your pretty face.

"sorry, guys," he says once he's gone off mute. his voice breaks when he tries to speak again, so he coughs and tries one more time. "something has come up, i have to go."

lando doesn't even give his friends time to ask why or say goodbye before he's hung up the call, his focus back on you again. his hands move up and down your sides as he shakes his head. "what? why did you hang up?"

"don't play with me right now." he squints at you, a playful grin spreading over his lips.

"it's all your fault anyway," you say, letting your hands reach down to play with the zipper of his jeans. "you ignored me."

he lets out a shaky sigh when you pop the button open, slowly pulling down the zipper. "what do i have to do to get you to forgive me?"

"i think you know."

and god riding him then 😩 in the seat where he does so much of his work, so many hours of the day... he's going to be reminded of you and grow horny every time he goes back there

In your Mithrun analysis, when you say “maybe it's also particularly gentle that, in the end, there was someone who refused to even consider giving up on him.” who is the ‘someone’ in your mind? Milsiril? Kabru and the canaries? I loved your analysis, so I’m curious

OH kabru absolutely

milsiril spared him and, decades later, helped him with his physical rehabilitation, but it seems like she more or less gave up on his personhood. no more desires -> no more mithrun as we knew him -> no more mithrun. she spared him because he wasn’t completely devoid of motivation to live, and she used the single motivator he had left to eventually get him to keep himself alive, and she briefly even seemed to want to try and instill some of his old mask (even with the understanding that that’s what it was) back into him, but that fell through immediately and i think with it went her optimism that mithrun would ever… be a person again. “too late now, i guess.”

then the canaries are on good enough terms with him, but they’re practically instructed to treat him like a weapon or a tool they’re maintaining. i believe it’s cithis that tells kabru to take care of mithrun but clarifies that really what that is is just making sure he eats. ensuring his baseline needs for survival are met. and really, that’s all she was ever tasked with. when it’s all over and mithrun is cataleptic, the canaries stay physically near him, but they seem to have accepted that he’s gone—without the demon to chase, he has nothing to live for. cithis, though, seems to be closer to mithrun than any of the others, and i don’t think it’s a coincidence that she’s the one who calls lycion off and encourages kabru to try engaging with him when she hears the beginning of what he has to say.

this post caught a lot of my opinions regarding mithrun’s relationships (linking to my reblog of it because i dumped some thoughts in the tags) but tldr i do think milsiril and the canaries fall short of thinking of mithrun as a person, and that’s why their relationships with him fail him somewhat. i don’t think that’s their fault, because it seems like they were taught to think of losing your desires as a complete loss of self and humanity, but it does mean they see mithrun as someone who has already been lost. kabru is demonstrably different in that he’s able to help mithrun see a future beyond the demon, and he’s able to do it because he deals with mithrun like he’s human. because he is. and all of that stems from the specific aspect of kabru’s personality that is his obsession with people

I know you wrote Ghost & Price not warming up to wolfdog hybrid reader for a while, but what about Ghost immediately having a soft spot for you, which is how you end up sleeping in his bed nearly every night.

Like with most puppies the first few nights in your new home are difficult. Taken away from your family and the familiar environment all the 141 can hear is you whining while they’re trying to sleep. They try and tough it out, hoping that eventually you’ll tire yourself out and go to sleep, but you don’t stop until suddenly you’re quiet. More concerned than anything else Gaz and/or Soap climb out of bed to go to your room only to find it empty.

Immediately panicking and thinking you’ve escaped, they go to enlist Ghosts’ help (since he’s less likely to be annoyed than Price) only to open his door to see you sleeping soundly tucked up against him.

It’s routine then, according to Ghost it’s better to ensure that at least everyone is getting rest rather than being kept awake by your whining, but even when you mature and don’t need to sleep with Ghost anymore, you sleep more with him in his bed than you do your own

in another, other timeline, Ghost probably pretends he doesn't like you but goes behind everyone's back and just spoils you. He's definitely a dog dad and against his will, falls in love with you when you first arrive - platonically, of course. You still like Gaz and Soap, obviously, and you'll later on warm up to Price (who I imagine is like those dad's who never want a pet but become buddies with), but you click with Ghost. You follow him around base whenever the other two haven't pulled you away, happily following him even if he's doing the most mundane thing.

You'll curl at his feet and playfully nip at his fingers whenever he decides to pet you, maybe even playfully lick his toes for the hell of it, if just to see him pull away with a grimace.

When they find out you sleep in Ghost's bed, he tries to play it off as him just ensuring everyone is able to sleep. But no one takes him serious, knowing the soft spot he has for their pup hybrid.

And when you eventually end up growing up, filling out your wolfdog genes and growing into your height, Ghost's content with himself when you roll on top of him, snuggling him just like when you were a puppy

What funny for me it's when I see some people in radioapple fandom saying why they can't see Alastor as a bottom is because "he would never be a bottom because of his ego!" (and right under a post with b!Alastor content, the nerve)

Meanwhile Lucifer, King of all Hell, Sin of Pride personified, the man who stole Adam's first wife and claimed to do the same with the second, and had two songs about how great he is compared to others: am I a joke to you?

Lucifer's ego is just as big, if not bigger, than Alastor's. I was rewatching the show recently, and during the "Dad Beat Dad" episode, literally the only person he was nervous, bumbling, or awkward around was Charlie (and Vaggie, to a certain degree considering she's Charlie's girlfriend).

In every other interaction he was smug, arrogant, indifferent, unimpressed, or downright dismissive. His whole song with Alastor was just him flexing his power and getting more and more insecure & angry about how "close" Alastor and Charlie were. I think people forget that Lucifer is the Sin of Pride, and you can 100% see it in his behavior towards the other characters. Obviously, he got closer to the Hazbin Crew, especially during the last song in the finale, but that doesn't make his ego magically disappear.

And I love that about him.

I find his huge capacity to love (both Charlie and creation) so endearing, but it's better and so much more interesting, when it's paired with the fact that his ego gets bruised so easily. He's the most powerful being in Hell, while also being insecure as fuck, while also being the personification of Pride itself. Is that not the tastiest, most delectable character to ever character????

Look, yes, Lucifer is depressed. He and Lilith got divorced. He and Charlie were estranged to each other for years. He lost his will to dream after being cast out from Heaven. He spent all his time making little rubber ducks, locked away in his room. But that doesn't, by any means, make the man humble.

If you look at Alastor and say he's got too big of an ego to bottom, and then turn around and make Lucifer the most bottomy bottom ever, then I say go back and rewatch the show, cuz you're missing a few very important factors. Especially if you're basing someone's capacity to bottom on ego alone. (I, personally, love it when prideful, egotistical characters bottom. It's so much fun).

Mostly just...hhhhhh, please stop stripping away all of my short-kings most interesting characteristics. I don't want a small, wide-eyed, easily manipulated little UwU soft boi. I want snarky, powerful as fuck, insecure, egotistical, provocative short-king who gets pissy when his daughter talks to a homicidal deer man with a silly haircut instead of him (while also being very soft, loving, and caring). He's multi-faceted, and that's what makes him interesting.

Once again, this isn't me getting after people who enjoy top!Alastor and bottom!Lucifer. Do what you want, I hope you're having fun. Just don't go commenting below other people's posts with shit like "Alastor wouldn't bottom because of his ego," when Lucifer is just as much of an egotistical little shit as he is.
