Hii! I saw one of your posts and I was wondering if you could do headcannons with john dory and/or branch with a Bounty Hunter troll s/o? Maybe part of K-Pop if that's okay! Thank you! :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Branch and John Dory dating an K-POP S/O
Pairings: Branch X Reader, JD X Reader (Seperate)
Warnings: None
A/N: OMG YESSS As always Broppy will not be cannon if I'm doing an X Branch unless it's an poly relation ship with branch and poppy! Anyways I had fun writing for the K-POP trolls CAUSE THEY ARE SO COOL! I had another request for K-Pop trolls for john dory so I'd write that too ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡
John Dory
- You guys met when poppy was inviting the sub genres to pop village to show them pop music since it was their turn to show around the different genres of their style of music
- John dory was suppose to be helping sort out different sub genres when it came to you and the K-pop group he paused and stared at you and your group
- You appearance was gorgeous you had an unique texture to your silver-colored bodies which gives off a glossy rainbow chrome effect - you had an voluminous f/c hair swept to the side above their right eye with a smaller tuft of hair above your left ear and wearing a glossy leotard of matching colors you fit in with your group well but you stood out to him. - Your thick eyeshadow of different colors and how you glowed made him stare at you as Wani tried to get his attention to help sort out the groups - Stared at you as you glanced at him giggling before leaving with your group as John Dory walked over to branch to ask about your group
- “The K-pop group? Oh there just pop but in Korean… it’s horrifying aswell how good they are” Branch mumbled “Thanks Bitty B!” - He saw you again when he was gonna preform to show some of Pop music to you all he noticed how you stared at him the whole time how you smiled and glanced to your K-pop group who nodded together and you all quietly in sync danced abit with the music
- After the show he walked up to you and asked you about yourself to get to know you better while Wani, Ari, Kim-Petit, Gomdori, and Baby Bun were giggling and leaving you two alone - John dory walked over with an smile that made you blush slightly on your slightly shiny skin as you two shook hands "I'm JD it's nice to meet you?" "(name)! My name is (Name)" you said smiling as he smiled "Your K-pop right?" You nodded as he asked questions and you'd answer them the two of you exchanging information - which soon turned to talking about other music and then turning to your own personal life's and things you likes - You went on an whole rant about your music genre telling him that K-pop was caracterized by catchy hooks, polished choreography, grandiose live performances, and impeccably produced music videos, K-pop including music by groups like BTS and BLACKPINK which where most popular and now frequently tops the Billboard charts, attracts a fiercely dedicated online following while you and your group were small you planned on going bigger. - You started to bond together and he asked if you can teach him some K-pop dances and he could let you go to all brozone concerts for free
- You were happy the deal worked out be he was even happier that you wanted to g see his concerts
- You two exchanged dances you even taught him your K-pop dance for one of your bands is songs 'Feel My Rhythm' which he loved so much - As an surprise he preformed it with his brothers on the concert as he posed and pointed an finger towards you playfully before going back to dancing
- You two would be laughing together back stage as you complimented him so much "John dory you put my bands song in your concert?" John dory smiled "we did an english version you translated it all for me thats why I wrote it down"
- You literally teared up "정말 친절해요!" you exclaimed hugging him as he blinked confused as Wani appeared from thin air and whispered to John dory "They said you were really kind" Wani soon ran off once again giggling
- He was slowly learning Korean just for you even though he absolute SUCKED at it you found it adorable
- You two slowly started to get comfortable with each other so sometimes you'd be staying over with him or he's staying over with you.
- Branch was going to grab John dory for rehearsel saying good morning to rhonda opening the door to see you sleeping in john dorys arms drooling and john dorys head on your neck sleeping aswell
- Branch literally deadpanned as poppy squealed so happily at the scene
- Denies he has feelings for you due to the fact your too good for him... like he fels bad that he even likes someone like you so he wanted to ignore you cause your too good for him
- You on the other hand get teased by Wani, Ari, Kim-Petit, Gomdori, and Baby Bun while practicing for an concert of yours - He was ignoring you which made you feel hurt so you invited him to your concert begging him to come after finding him and asking him to just go so he could just see you on stage
- Literally whipped for you so he 1000% agreed to hugging you and apologizing for ignoring you and you even asked for the others to come as well!
- When he went to the concert his eyes were wide when seeing you sing in Korean and dance happily as you noticed john dory in the crowd you grinned even wider dancing before posing while panting - He heard Better place being played along with his brothers and turned to you dancing and singing his parts made his eyes widened while he blushed an deep shade of blue as his brothers teased him - After the concert as usual you tackled him in an hug excitedly telling him you did what he did for you at his own concert with brozone
- You two grinned him holding your waist with your hands on his shoulders as you giggled happily as he chuckled looking down at you before you kissed eachother - The others cheered as Baby bun was shouting an "FINALLY!" so loud as you started to curse your friend out in Korean as john dory chuckled holding you back by your waist "사랑해요" You literally froze - Once he said that you literally tackled him once more to pepper his face with kisses for learning how to say 'I love you in Korean'
Branch
- Like with the reggaton trolls post I made Branch met you when you were with Wani, Ari, Kim-Petit, Gomdori, and Baby Bun  to take him to barb the queen of rock to save your music aka K-pop
- You were playful you stood out just like your other bounty hunter k-pop trolls. - You toyed with him the most like your friends before grabbing him quickly after you were moving quickly around the area and tying him up - You and your group stood out to him well but you stood out most with your appearance even if it was the same as the others - Your unique texture to your silver-colored bodies which gives off a glossy rainbow chrome effect. You had an voluminous f/c hair swept to the side above their right eye with a smaller tuft of hair above your left ear and wearing a glossy leotard of matching colors you fit in with your group well but you stood out to him. - Your thick eye shadow of different colors and how you glowed made him stare at you as Wani called him an crybaby and asking him if he was poppy - The Reggaton trolls appeared and Branch noticed how your grip on him tightened abit as you stared worriedly towards your fellow K-pop trolls who where smirking knowing who they where - When you started to dance unwrapping him quickly from the rope you started to dance while singing loudly and happily - In the dance battle with the reggaton trolls he noticed the fact you bopped your head and vibed a bit to the music made him slightly smile - Though you were the first one to listen to him when he brought up all music being saved as you turned to your group and back to looking at him as Tresi "Okay Pop troll were listening" Tresillo said crossing his arms turning to branch as You were whispering to Ari on how Tresillo sounded hot as an joke -When you hopped into the hot air balloon you greeted the reggaton trolls happily and asked about their genre while they asked about yours while you soon went to talk to branch right after grinning
- You asked him alot about himself, him giving blunt replies but he was quite shocked how there was another hyper like troll like you were talking to him you acted close like poppy but less hyper - You were laid back and asked him questions about pop village and asked if he knew about the other genres which he didn't so you happily explained your style and music - You went on an whole rant about your music genre telling him that K-pop was characterized by catchy hooks, polished choreography, grandiose live performances, and impeccably produced music videos just like normal pop but yours was more... Well more mixed with some styles! K-pop including music by groups like BTS and BLACKPINK which where most popular and now frequently tops the Billboard charts, attracts a fiercely dedicated online following while you and your group were small you planned on going bigger. (yes I added this again for branch cause YES I'M STILL INVESTED AND HAPPY! ABOUT FUCKING TROLLS!) - Branch nodded his head as he kept quiet but listened to you about all your rambling even asking questions if you could show some dance moves to him later - After saving all music and becoming in harmony he noticed you showing some random trolls K-pop and he joined in when seeing poppy rush over when seeing you dance
- You were hyper and bouncing and being playful with him as he was invested with your dancing and singing
- You started to bond together and he asked if you can teach him some K-pop dances and your language so he could talk shit if needed as an joke as you laughed and took his hand "Were best friends now!" "Wait what?"
- After awhile you two soon started to get close and talk alot together and would dance together. He'd sing songs you'd request if you sang some Korean songs as well
- You two would be seen together and when your apart it's only just for an few moments until one of you appear later
- Branch has gotten use to when you visit his bunker randomly and tackle him into an hug especially when he's drinking his coffee and gets surprised to see you on the kitchen counter when he turns around with your glittery figure
- He'd speak Korean to you to make you flustered which works very well for the both of you. Him seeing your blushing face and you hearing him speak Korean
- when you two are together and your speaking in Korean in annoyance or arguing with someone Poppy and the other pop trolls have to turn to each other then turn to branch who has to explain with an bored expression
- You two soon realized you acted more like an couple then friends in some moments so poppy had to force you two to get together
- Wani, Ari, Kim-Petit, Gomdori, and Baby Bun gave branch advice and tips on how to try date you
- you two started to date when you went to save floyd he introduced you as his partner as poppys jaw drop asking you when it happened and asked you to tell her everything but you had to tell her to be quiet
- When you saved floyd he shyly introduced you to his brothers as you waved hello as they questioned you about branch and your love life which you enjoyed as you got to tease your boyfriend and see hsi baby photos.

Just watched Trolls Band Together...ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!😍😍😍(SPOILERS AHEAD, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oooh, my Harmonia...just got back from watching Trolls Band Together and my GOODNESS!!🤩✨🤩✨🤩Words cannot describe how amazed and engrossed I was into the whole movie!!💖💖💖Was it worth the seven month wait?😗TOTALLY!!😍😍😍It was absolutely fantastic, and I LOVED and enjoyed every single moment of it!!🥰
I was really getting into scenes, got quite a few laughs out of some scenes and was touched the wholesome ones~💕Branch's brothers were just as enjoyable on screen - John Dory still being my fave as he grew throughout the movie (LOVE Rhonda too!😁) Spruce/Bruce is such a lovable family man, Clay was (serious)ly awesome in his scenes and the tender moments between Floyd and Branch really got me...especially with the flashbacks...🥲 It was so great to see Grandma Rosiepuff again, though I do wish there was more feeling shown when her death was mentioned, hopefully the brothers will come to terms with it more in time...and Branch's bunker plan for them all, d'awww...~🥺So he DID build the bunker for all his family...😭 Viva was such an amazing character as well as she adorably bonded with Poppy (ooh, dear King Peppy, I know you were heartbroken at the time but c'mon...😅) and finally braved out of her comfort zone, and Tiny Diamond going through his big boy phase was real cute and funny😂Bridget and King Gristle were great too, it was lovely seeing them again along with the Bergens!😊 I had a feeling Velvet and Veneer were luring BroZone to them, they were such good villains with their goals and personalities but I am glad Floyd got through to Veneer in the end, and he saw the wrong he and his sister were doing, and came clean to everyone. And Crimp was a cutie and deserves better🫂(glad she got a hug from Poppy and stood up to Velvet and Veneer in the end😌) And it was also great to see some of the Snack Pack again too, including Prince D and especially my darling Cooper too, eeeee~!😍💗💗💗He looked so dapper!💝🥰 Speaking of Poppy, she was just as darling as ever~!😚I seriously LOVED her relationship and her undying love for Branch blossom so much here whilst supporting and fangirling for him all the way as they interacted, bless her~😊And that sweet BROPPY KISS!!🤭...🤩I was going 'YES!! FINALLY!!' under my breath, grinning from ear to ear in that moment~💙💖And that moment when I thought he was gonna pop the question during the performance during the end...hehe, maybe another time~😉But I certainly didn't expect *NSYNC to show up in their trollsonas near the end...what a twist!😮
The chase scene and perfect family harmony scene were truly epic and it really shows, it doesn't have to be perfect as long as we're altogether~💞💓All the locations of the brothers were stunning to look at, with Vacay Island and Spruce/Bruce's family, the creepy abandoned Bergen golf course with the Putt-Putt Trolls, and finally Mount Rageous - a whole lot of wonder to take in!💖Walt Dohrn, Gina Shay and the DreamWorks Animation Crew did such an fantastic job on everything!✨🌟✨And that huge BroZone hug...again, d'aaaaww~!😭
As for the songs...I'll be downloading the rest of the album now because they were all wonderful to listen to!🎧🎶Real boyband and 90's nostalgia~✨I know they're gonna be stick in my head for a long time, hehe!😆I have so many faves, especially all versions of 'Better Place'~😚
A greatly HUGE thank-you in a million to everyone Trolls for such a fantastic movie, which I wonderfully enjoyed all the way through, from start to finish!🌟👏👏👏🌟AAAHH!!💓💗💓I JUST LOVED IT ALL!! 😍🤩😍I give it a solid 9.5 out of 10!!😊👍✨Totally made my weekend~!🫶🥰

How could Trolls 3 have been better?
Thank you for genuinely asking anon 💖💖
(spoilers for Trolls 3/Band Together below obvi)
SO
First of all: I ended up loving Viva and her story/explanation of how she got separated and how she retained her similarities to Poppy while having a very Branch like quality at the same time. I wish somehow that her reveal could have been a surprise but I get we have to let everyone know Camila Cabello is in the movie. So Poppy’s desire for a sister/sibling totally fits her character but her saying it the way she did just felt soooo lazy. I think it would’ve made so much more sense to reveal that Bridget had sister who were coming in for the wedding and that gets Poppy a little jealous. Especially if they had like stepsister vibes since in Trolls 1 Bridget had big Cinderella parallels so it would’ve been cool to see that continue. And they’ll have inside jokes and things sisters have and yeah Poppy is maid of honor but she’s still a little jealous and it sparks this conversation of having a family. Because when she said not having a sister is something she had been coming to terms with recently I’m like show not tell bruh.
Also the lack of World Tour peeps was sad
The movie should have opened with the wedding and have us learn more about the band through flashbacks because it felt very long and repetitive but maybe it’s because the trailers all had the same opening clip. I think it would’ve made John showing up at the wedding a bigger surprise and also he should have waited until the reception because wtf was up with everyone watching him just crash the wedding for 5 minutes????
The songs. Sooooo many missed opportunities. I knew this film was gonna have “We are family” but it was way too early on and felt totally out of place without having any “sisters” at the moment. Also “Crazy in Love” is the most Bridget/Gristle song out there and describes a wedding way more.
Not having “ME!” by Taylor Swift felt criminal because it is the most Broppy song. We could’ve had this and the boy band tributes but we kept getting robbed.
I feel like we needed more build up for Branch’s relationship with his brothers like it would’ve been cool to see it from Poppy’s perspective like seeing Poppy at a concert almost too little to understand what’s happening (because I think it’s established that she’s a tad bit younger than Branch but I’m still confused about if Branch escaped with the other Trolls from the tree or if he went straight to the village from wherever his family was). Because also Viva remembers Poppy so she’s obviously fairly older so it would’ve been sweet to see like Poppy piecing together a memory realizing that so much that she loves is stuff Viva introduced her too especially since on of Branch’s brothers is working with her to help her little village.
But also the stakes weren’t high enough to explain why none of them checked in on their baby brother after all those years? Like he was a literal baby? I feel like the reason they broke up was mid, I think it would’ve been nice to show like there was a time that they had a reunion planned and no one showed up which increased Branch’s bitterness and then they could explain it was a misunderstanding because like I’m sorry he was a literal baby and they all just left him and never tried to go back??? They should have had them break up because they all vowed to never sing again because it attracted bergans like even when they didn’t sing the sight of them made all the trolls feral that they broke up and gave up signing for the safety of others.
Velvet and Veneer: no notes. Icons. I wanted more. But what was the purpose of Fringe if she got no closure or resolution or redemption? She was so cute, tell me more about her plsssss
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk

Notes:  I can't believe I've finally written the whole fanfiction, from the very beginning to the very end. I'd never finished anything in my entire life. And I also wrote it in English! You have no idea how many hard was for me to learn another language. Guh, I'm so proud of myself. I know that the end isn't very satisfying. I mean, I suppose to be a fluff, and yes it is, but the end is a bit... Ambitious? I didn't want to finish it with a kiss, I planned to explain how the strings were created from the very beginning. Tell me your impression in the comments. Thank you for being my reader :)
_____________________________________________________________
- Dad, why do we have to sleep? - A little violet kid hides his face deeper into his father's shirt. - I thought you said once that Immortals don't have to sleep. But we sleep every night! It's... - He yawns. - ...frustrating.
Branch smiles at him, stroking his hair gently.
- I don't know - The blue god admits calmly. - I've never been a child. Ask your mother. She was.
A small girl looks up at the pink goddess, showing her eyes filled with surprise.
- You were a kid and dad wasn't? - She asks aloud.
- Dad came from Chaos - Poppy explains quietly, hugging her daughter a bit tighter. - And I was born just like you. That's why you have a grandpa and others don't.
- So why do Immortal kids have to sleep?
The last question comes from the oldest child, lying a bit aside from the rest. He doesn't like hugging that much. He prefers to sleep alone.
- I don't know, Aster - Poppy turns to him with a smile. - I needed it when I was a kid, that's all I know. We don't know much about immortal kids, they are really rare.
- That's why you are so special - Branch adds, smiling at his kid. He yawns, making everyone, one by one, yawning too. - You really need to sleep now.
- Are you sleeping with us? - A little girl lifts her sparkling eyes.
- Star, do we ever leave you during sleep?
- How can we know? - Aster points out. He really likes discussions. - What if you leave us when we get asleep and come back in the morning?
Star looks worryingly at dad.
- I swear we don't do that! - The blue god declares openly.
- Look, Happy is already asleep - Poppy glances down at the kid cuddled into Branch's arms. She takes a look at her daughter, kissing her on her light pink forehead. - Just close your eyes, little Star.
The girl smiles and listens to her mum. A few minutes later the grasshoppers' concert is disturbed only by calm breaths from children's mouths.
- That was fast - Branch whispers, gazing at his daughter. - What about Aster?
Poppy turns to her left where her son is lying a step or two from them.
- I think he's sleeping too - She announces.
They both look up at the clear nightly sky. They are staring at the twinkling stars for a while, listening to the soft melody of the grasshoppers' song. The light blue moon shines above them, watching the whole Earth from the sky. Everything is pleasantly calm.
- Let's figure it out again - Poppy starts out of nowhere. She doesn't have to explain she means their work. They both think about it most of the time. - What do we know about Love?
- The last time we separated six things it needs to be full and true - Branch starts listing. - Free will, awareness, affection, honesty, attachment, and emotionality.
- Six inseparable parts of Love - The goddess looks at the god, frowning sadly. - And trolls don't have even one of them.
Branch heave a deep sigh. He carefully moves closer to her, trying to not wake up his son cuddled to his right side. He slips his free hand under her head and embraces her shoulders, touching her to him. She has no hand to hug him back, but they both get used to it. They all like a “family” sleep hug, it’s really cozy and warm. Besides Aster, he doesn’t like hugs that much.
- I don’t want to repeat myself on and on, but I’ve already told you - The god says softly, gently touching her ear with the top of his nose. - We can do anything more by ourselves. We have to ask others for help.
- But what can they do! - The goddess huffs. - They will never agree to give trolls free will. It’s too risky. My dad especially will disagree. He told me about Creek and Chaz last time…
She stops, staring helplessly at the stars. From the moment they both became the goddess and the god of Love, they are thought of as the most powerful Immortals. Even if their main mission is to bring Love to trolls and teach them everything about it, other Immortals also come to them for advice and solutions to their problems. They have everyone’s respect and trust, they are welcome with open arms anywhere they go. Their kids are well-known and loved, their names are sounded with a warm smile on face.
If they can’t do something, who else can do?
And giving trolls free will and awareness, giving them an ability to feel and think independently, letting them choose… would open the door to wars and conflicts, like when Chaz came from the Chaos. Do they really want this for trolls?
- Don’t overthink this again - Branch’s low whisper in her ear gets her back to reality. - We all know how risky it is. But tell me honestly… - She feels his hand tenderly caressing her arm. She sighs calmly. Years passed and she’s still enjoying his touch as much as for the first time. - Isn’t it worth it?
Poppy turns to him, catching his sight. He smiles affectionately at her in a way that always makes her melt and want to kiss him. She can’t resist but smiles back gently at him.
- You think it’s so easy… - She says.
- I’m not - He drops his smiles, looking at her seriously. - My first step on the Fest wasn’t easy. But I’ve never regretted it.
She gazes at his blue eyes for a while, thinking.
- And I also needed help back then - He adds, moving his head closer to her. - Your help.
The goddess is still hesitating, staring at him in silence. She touches his forehead with hers. She sighs heavily, closing her eyes. They stay for a while like that, nodding off.
- Do you need one more night to think about it? - Branch asks softly, the care is hearable in his voice.
- No - Poppy says quietly. - You’re right…
- You don’t sound convinced - He points out after a moment.
- I don’t know - She admits. - I have bad feelings about that…
- Things worth effort are always challenging. Look at me and tell me if I was easy to bear at the first meet
Poppy smiles widely.
- It was always hard to not love you - She says, chuckling quietly.
Branch giggles heartily, grinning really wide. He presses his lips against her and they share a long, slow, passionate kiss.
- You’re lucky our kids are hugging us right now - Branch smirks at her when they finally go away. - I would not stop myself in any other case.
Poppy giggles gently, nestling her face into him. She sighs calmly, smelling his warm scent.
- We’ll ask others for help - She announces, now with more confidence. - Tomorrow.
***
- ...and in those circumstances we are helpless.
King Peppy looks patiently at Branch and Poppy from his high throne. In absolute silence, the sounds of kids playing outdoors are really hearable. There are not only Branch and Poppy’s children; after they taught Immortals about Love, many of them start building similar relationships and some of them also have offspring. There are six immortal children now, not counting Poppy. The youngest of them, little Star, as a Peppy’s favorite, is sitting on his lap now, taking an afternoon nap.
- We need your help - The pink goddess looks around, trying to address it to everyone gathered. But no one says anything. Immortals glance at each other, looking for anyone who would know the possible answer. Above their heads, the single thought is floating loudly in silence: “How could anybody know more about Love than the god and the goddess of Love as large as life?”. Poppy glances at Branch helplessly, knowing what this situation means for them.
- Well, if no one has any idea - The blue god starts slowly, looking around. - There’s only one other option. We have to give trolls what they haven’t got yet.
King Peppy opens his eyes widely at him in sudden realization.
- You don’t mean…
- Giving trolls free will. Exactly - Branch nods calmly.
- Is that necessary? - Delta Dawn, the goddess of Justice, asks, crossing her arms on her chest.
- There’s no Love without the free will - The god explains.
- But the ability to feel and think independently opens trolls the door to not only fight with each other - The god of Wisdom, Stacy, points out. - But also to kick out against us.
His speech wakes up murmuring all around.
- Listen, now trolls don’t understand how much we care about them - Branch goes on. - They don’t even know we love them. They can’t love us back. They are empty souls listening to our every order. They are our slaves.
His last words make everybody freeze in silence.
- I’m also scared of what will happen if we give trolls absolute freedom - Poppy finally finds her words, joining her lover’s speech. - They will reject us, fight with us, ignore us, tell us they don’t need our love for them. They will also fight with each other because Chaz’s seeds don’t disappear from their hearts, we all know that. - She holds Branch’s hand, looking into his eyes. - But… How long can we pretend that they love us back? I’m not even sure if they have ever been happy. They’ve never known what happiness is.
Branch smiles gently at her.
- We’ve never let them be themselves - Milton whispers thoughtfully from his seat.
- It’s not that easy - Queen Barb says with a low voice. - Those are very strong powers.
- It would destroy them! - Smidge takes fright.
- Umm… Can I… - Suki lifts her hand shyly to say something. - I’ve already got an idea…
- Tell us - Peppy nods encouragingly.
- We can use music - She beams, smiling unsurely. - I noticed that the feelings I put into my song stay in their souls for so long. If… If you help me I can make music that will be giving them those things partly, stretching it in time.
- Maybe we should put it into an instrument? - Minuet, the goddess of instruments, suggests. - Poppy says there are six elements of Love. we can put them into separated strings.
- We can make a harp then - Laguna, the goddess of Analyze and Math, writes something in her notebook.
- That’s a lot of work - Gust notices. - We will need a lot of hands to help.
- I can help! - Cooper beams.
- And I!
- I’m in.
- Don’t start without me!
Poppy smiles widely, watching Immortals joining in one by one. All fears she had in her heart slowly fade away. She squeezes Branch’s hand, making him look at her.
- You were right - She admits, watching his smile grows wider. - But I’m still scared.
- Me too - He plants a loving kiss on her nose. - But we’re in this together and that’s all I need.
She giggles, adoring his sweet azure eyes. She sighs briefly and nods with a confident smile.
- We’re gonna do this.
***
They were making Strings almost for the whole year. Every single Immortal was concerned. Stacy, Essence, Coffee, Prince D, and Lownote Jones created the violet string of the Attachment. Minuet, Dante, and Trollazart worked on the yellow string of the Awareness. Trolex, Synth, and Laguna made the blue string of Emotionality. Queen Barb, Riff, Val, and Demo created the red string of Free Will. Gust, Holly, Smidge, and Delta Dawn made the orange string of Honesty. And Poppy and Branch were coordinating the work on the last, pink string. The string of Affection.
When everything is ready, Suki puts all the Strings on the beautiful gold harp created by Satin, Chenille, Guy Diamond, and Minuet. The time is ripe, they need only a delegation. Someone who will handle the Harp to troll. Most Immortals want it to be Poppy and Branch, but they reject it. In that case, everybody votes for their kids to be delegates. But the goddess and the god of Love still persist, that it would be unfair. Finally, they all decide that all six Immortal kids will handle the Strings.
The moment is huge. Everybody’s watching in tension us Peppy and Gust, the god of Order, gather all existing trolls in one place. Six kids present the Harp in front of trolls and then put it down for trolls to reach it. The creatures don’t know what to do at the first moment. They are staring at the beautiful instrument in misunderstanding amazement. The Silence passes for so long and Immortals are patiently waiting. Then, a little shy troll goes from the crowd and unsurely comes to the Harp. He reaches the first string, the yellow one, and touches it carefully.
And then he pulls it slightly and the soft sound of liberatory music peals in the world, freezing all the trolls.

Better Than I Know Myself
While I, admittedly, have enough songs that I believe would best fit Betrothed by @tipolover22 to create a playlist, there’s this one song I am convinced is perfect to describe Branch’s POV when it comes to his marriage to Poppy:
Better Than I Know Myself by Adam Lambert.
This is an analysis on the song written from the fic’s point of view, so it’s gonna be heavy on spoilers. So I’d recommend you read the story before reading this.
If people asked me why I think this song is perfect, I believe breaking down the lyrics is the best way to explain my point.
It starts out like this:
Cold as ice
And more bitter than a December
Winter night
That's how I treated you
Coincidentally, it starts just like the first arc of Betrothed; getting Branch to let go of his bitterness and start warming up to Poppy. This first verse reflects Branch’s train of thought up until chapter 6:
We all know Branch ignored Poppy, belittled her, was rude to her because of superfluous details like their different upbringings (and yes, I do consider that to be superfluous because they already knew about that when they decided to unite both kingdoms) or superficial traits (i.e. Poppy being pink), during the first few chapters he didn’t treat her or view her as his equal! And judging by how this becomes a source of regret and shame to Branch, it doesn’t seem so crazy to believe he would mention this aspect of their relationship in a song meant to express his true feelings for her.
Then, it comes the second verse:
And I know that I
I sometimes tend to lose my temper
And I cross the line
Yeah that's the truth
Now this focuses more on describing an established flaw of Branch’s,  one he doesn’t display solely on Poppy, although she has been on the receiving end as well.
Branch has a relatively short temper. Simple as that.
He’s lost it at Poppy, especially before their breakthrough; he’s lost it at Mulberry whenever his antics went a little too far (like arguing with Arum in chapter 8, or accidentally bringing up Poppy’s refusal to kiss Branch in chapter 16), he’s, understandably, lost it at Creek (in this case it was a righteous anger, considering Creek’s attempts at getting under his skin or trying to steal Poppy from him)...
And as a result of his temper he crosses the line, something he ends up regretting one way or another.
When it comes to the times Poppy’s been at the receiving end of his anger, the most notable example would be, no doubt about it, the mandolin. He threw it away when his mind was too clouded by anger to think things through and he came to regret it immediately, not only because it crushed Poppy and only made matters worse between them, but also because it became something that would be brought up ever since.
As for Creek, whenever Branch’s let his words and actions get under his skin, it’s always had disastrous consequences.
Hadn’t Poppy taken things in stride, destroying the pedestal he built in chapter 10 would’ve made him look like an impatient brute.
In chapter 11 he was so blinded by his hurt and fury he didn’t hear Poppy and Suki approaching just as he punched Creek for taunting him, which led to a very serious argument with Poppy and a whole week of heartbreak for the two.
And, finally, in chapter 19, after finding out Creek tried to kiss Poppy while he was away, he almost killed him. And, as Creek pointed out, had he done it and his marriage with Poppy would forever be tainted by it, since Poppy would never be able to forgive Branch for killing him.
In other words, in this verse he’s acknowledging his flaws and apologising for them.
Now we have the bridge:
I know it gets hard sometimes
But I could never
Leave your side
No matter what I say
Again, if Branch were to sing this to Poppy, he’d be referencing how their marriage is a special case that required a lot of work before they became the power couple we they are today. Because, like all good things, they had to work very hard and compromise to achieve their happiness, but it was more than worth it. However, even if they are in love now, Branch is assuring Poppy that, no matter what, he will always fight for what they have, because he loves her and he can’t go back to living without her.
Which brings us to the chorus:
'Cause if I wanted to go
I would've gone by now but
I really need you near me
To keep my mind off the edge
If I wanted to leave
I would've left by now
But you're the only one that knows me
Better than I know myself
Leaving aside that they were bound to being together for their respective kingdom’s sake, it is true that, if things between them were really as terrible as Branch originally made them out to be, he could’ve just kept on living his life separately from Poppy. But, despite everything, early chapters and later chapters referencing earlier ones show he had actually started warming up to her long before Poppy finally snapped. In chapter 4 he was momentarily cranky because Poppy wasn’t in bed with him, even silently debating whether pink was a good or a bad colour. In chapter 13 we found out he kept and fixed the invitation she made him (reflecting canon) and started working on a new mandolin for her (and since it was never cleared up just when exactly he started working on it, it wouldn’t be that much of a stretch to believe it happened even before he fell for her). Not to mention, chapter 17 reveals Branch didn’t burn down the invitation because 1) it was customised for him, and 2) when he looked at it he felt somebody actually cared.
Another thing that proves that no matter how bad things get in their relationship Branch would never want to leave Poppy is chapter 12; as soon as he tries to claim she means nothing to him after she rejected him he berates himself for such a lie; she means the world to him.
The chorus also reflects the special place in Branch’s heart Poppy holds: for a very long time, ever since they became closer, his wife is the only troll Branch allows himself to be vulnerable in front of. One of the best examples would be chapters 20 and 21.
In chapter 20, in contrast to his parents in chapter 12, who had to coax him into opening up about his problems with them; Branch voluntarily opened up to Poppy about Sprite’s situation after bonding together as a little family. In fact, Poppy never tried to force Branch to tell her what was wrong, she just wanted to cheer him up, which then resulted in him lowering his defenses enough to be honest and cry* in front of her. Something similar happened in chapter 21, Branch now trusts Poppy enough to actually let his guard down around her to the point he allows himself to have a panic attack in front of her! Something he hasn’t shown to anyone else! Pre-character development Branch would never!
*It should be noted that, while Branch has cried in front of others before (namely his parents), the amount of times he’s shown his vulnerable side to Poppy easily surpasses this.
The final verse of the chorus is the key: while they still have a long way to go before they can completely see eye to eye, Poppy knows Branch better than most people, even better than his fellow Forest trolls.
There’s also the third verse:
All along
I tried to pretend it didn't matter
If I was alone
This is obviously a part of Prince! Branch’s personality that is entirely faithful to canon Branch, but perhaps it may even be taken up to eleven with the added weight of a royal’s responsibilities on his shoulders.
One of the biggest contrasts between Poppy and Branch in Betrothed is the way they both try to hide their inner struggles from their people; Branch puts on an armor of seriousness and authority thanks to a perpetual scowl and abrasive personality, while Poppy hides her worries behind a positive attitude and a smile.
However, as a result of their different upbringings, Poppy is more prone to asking for help when things become too much for her to handle, unlike Branch, who prefers to deal with things on his own. He pretends to be able to and prefer to handle the responsibilities and burdens of his status all by himself.
Thankfully, an important part of Poppy’s role in their relationship is showing Branch that he is not alone; he has her now and they are a team. As husband and wife they are in this together. Something it’s very clear Branch is very grateful for.
And then there’s the fourth verse:
Deep down I know
If you were gone
For even a day I wouldn't know which way to turn
'Cause I'm lost without you
This verse,  this whole verse is chapter 12. Hands down.
Because Branch admitted several times throughout the chapter that he didn’t know what to do without Poppy. Just remembering what he loved about her was enough to almost have him breaking down in tears, the longer he was away from her, the grumpier he got; heck, he couldn’t even sleep without her in his arms!
And, just like the song says, this was all in one day! One day without his wife and he became a wreck!
Hang in there, fellas! We’re almost done!
Let’s analyse the fifth verse, shall we? I get kind of dark
Let it go too far
I can be obnoxious at times
But try and see my heart
This verse combines the several hints where Branch acted like he doesn’t think he’s good enough for Poppy due to past mistakes (namely, his line, “I don’t deserve you.” from chapter 20), and the details from his past we have yet to see. Because, hey, this is Trolls with a sped up Broppy and a little extra drama, we are bound to see some dark stuff.
And, finally, we have the sixth verse:
'Cause I need you now
So don't let me down
You are the only thing in this world
I would die without
Because Poppy is his everything. Because she’s the one person he’s always needed by his side, even when he didn’t know it. Because she’s the love of his life. And what better way to prove it than sing it to her?
So, yeah. If anyone were to ask me which song I think would best describe Branch and Poppy’s relationship in Betrothed from the former’s point of view,  I’d say, without an inch of a doubt, Better Than I Know Myself by Adam Lambert.

Hi! I hope you’re gonna love this one! 😊
Tumblr media
As you know, I was listening to that MLP finale song and thought maybe this fits the evolution of Broppy from past until now. Here’s how I think it would look like.
I also thought up the meanings of the lyrics that matches the events that happened to Poppy and Branch throughout the years in the video:
1. Branch feels unsure of attending Poppy’s parties after he receives the invitation despite his efforts to stay underground for the rest of his life.
When I started out, I was unsure
I thought I knew all that I needed, didn't know what to expect
2. Branch was forced to overcome his past, meaning during the course of the adventure to Bergen Town, he was haunted by a flashback of his grandma being killed and gets overwhelmed by it, but he knows he has to move on.
But when my walls came down, I saw the truth
3. Branch sees Poppy feeling defeated after she thought she failed her adventure, and he has no other choice but to cheer her up.
All along something was missing
And I think you'll see it, too
4. The chorus explains how Poppy and Branch’s relationship presumably happens when Branch starts singing True Colors to her, regaining her colors in the process.
This is where the magic happens
This is where the magic lives
Our relationship weaves together stronger
The bonds grow deeper, lasting longer
And the greatest spell you'll know
Is how the Magic of Broppy grows
5. We cut to some of the memorable moments that lead up to Poppy and Branch’s newly-developed relationship. One of these moments were the future of throwing more parties since the Bergens were no longer enemies.
And no matter how much time goes by
The party will still be here with some fun new games to try
6. Great adventures might be waiting for Poppy and Branch to conquer, such as their quest to rescue the Snack Pack from Bergen Town and their upcoming adventure to unite the different kinds of Trolls.
Big adventure's waiting obviously
Long as we're still here together
We'll be flying happily
7. The chorus plays out again, displaying the evolution of how Poppy and Branch’s love developed from Trolls to Trolls World Tour. But here, the last two lyrics of the chorus were altered as:
And the greatest spell there is
What the Magic of Broppy gives
8. Thanks to Branch and Poppy’s efforts on restoring harmony, Poppy was crowned queen and this is where her new life begins.
And it's something true to pass on down
To generations yet to come
9. Soon Poppy is feeling not so sure of overcoming her new duty, but she knew Branch would act very generous to help her out, for example when she had a fallout with Bridget after a disastrous overload of holidays to present.
And we'll never stop believing in
The generosity of our love we've won
10. Two years after Trolls Holiday, Poppy and Branch were bonding quite so well together, as shown in the new TWT clip where they sing Trolls Just Wanna Have Fun. Here’s what Poppy thinks about the feeling of true love through these lyrics:
And because the love that I feel
For every single living creature is something that is real
True love happens so naturally
11. Branch was completely smitten with Poppy so much that he always looks at his favorite picture frame and wonders how their love will last long.
Oh, and how I used to wonder
What true love could be!
12. The last piece of chorus starts playing, and it finally shows us that after three years of eternity, Broppy is finally canon! 💙💖
This took me a few minutes to take down these information, but I hope you all adore this music video I made! This celebrates the day we achieved our goal to wish for canon Broppy, and it just makes me so happy after watching that amazing clip a lot of times! Thank you one and all for appreciating this with me!

To anycreature in the Trolls fandom still upset that we didn’t get to see Poppy and Branch kiss and that if they did kiss the camera was too far out for us to see...
Look, I don’t understand the reason for the having-them-kiss-but-too-far-for-us-to-actually-see-it either. And I know it’s been a long wait and we all wanted some serious broppy in this film.
But we DID get plenty of broppy even without a kiss. We got Branch’s part of Trolls Just Wanna Have Fun, calling Poppy beautiful and saying “just need the guts to tell her that she’s the one,” which, besides being incredibly sweet, explicitly confirmed to us for the first time that there is definitely canonical romantic interest there. We got Branch awkwardly trying to confess it to Poppy, being unable to spit it out, and visibly dying inside when he got friendzoned. We got a little heart-to-heart with him and Hickory about it after an angsty mini-song about it. We got the implications of Poppy and Branch’s incredibly weird hallucinations caused by Chaz’s smooth jazz music. We got the angsty, musical, 80% tearjerking 20% heartwarming, absolutely beautiful ultimate feels-fest that was the Perfect For Me scene, for crying out loud! We got another “I love you” from Poppy and Branch that, if all this is anything to go by, is definitely canonically romantic this time.
Even the high five, which some people got upset that we received instead of a kiss, that could be interpreted as broppy too, in a way. It’s still directly tied to their relationship. A lot of the subplot with them was the whole problem of “we don’t seem to connect very well,” which was first represented by the repeatedly failed high five earlier on, so of course they had a wildly successful high five to wrap it up showing they’ve learned a thing or two and the connection and their relationship are better now for it. I think y’all knew this, it ain’t rocket science or anything. Point is just because it was less tied to romance specifically doesn’t mean it wasn’t tied to their relationship in a super meaningful way. Plus you can’t deny it was THE most epic high five in the history of high fives. I mean, come on.
So we didn’t get to see them kiss. But the truth is, we didn’t really need to. Seeing them kiss after it all would’ve been a little extra icing and a cherry on top of the cake, but like...just look, it’s already SUCH an amazing cake, y’all. Why complain we didn’t get a broppy kiss on top of everything? Why not just be grateful for all that we DID get?
Besides, the franchise isn’t over yet. We’ve still got Trollstopia coming up, and quite possibly a third movie further in the distance. Poppy and Branch are the franchise’s big official couple, there’s no doubts about that now, and as such I have zero doubts that we’ll be seeing plenty more of them and that one day sooner or later we WILL get to see them kiss. We’ve just gotta remember that, have faith and trust and pixie dust in it, y’know? And, of course, patience. Yeah, yeah, the patience part might not be the easiest, but hey, we’ve waited this long, right? We can wait awhile longer. And maybe the ridiculous amounts of broppy kisses in fan art and fanfics will help, huh?
So yeah, don’t get your hairs in a tangle about not seeing a broppy kiss in TWT. We got all the broppy we needed from TWT without that, and sooner or later some other installment of the Trolls franchise WILL finally give us that broppy kiss that so many of us want so bad.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
Mic drop.

Poppy Lego Gold Crown Symbolism
Tumblr media
I got no clue if this is Lego being cute cause Lego Friends has loads of cute hair accessories but if this is something for Poppy character I love it. But first I wanna talk about the Trolls Variety Of The US campaine. If you buy a gold heart pin with Broppy all the proceeds help childern with disabilities or disadvantages giving the equipment to help them live healthy lives. So maybe this is a big plot point or something cute to give her to wear for her crown and nothing more.
Maybe Poppy heart isn't yellow but actrally gold.
Poppy to me is character that has a heart of gold to helping Branch a whole nation of people hurting their kind by giving them love not hate,And also reforming but understanding Archer Pastry. Poppy actions effect the universe around her but her viewers as well I suffer threw alot of depression and self doubt I talked about why I love Guy Diamond and how much he means to me but both Guy and Poppy make me feel very validated of who I am the fact that Trolls has her as a leader of the pop Trolls but also the face of the franchies thats pretty nice to see this pink character but the whole Trolls IP supporting being yourself *Trust me in most of the merch you can see it* Not to mention S8 Bye Bye Bunker song Shine Like Gold is a song about embracing whatever you become and it won't be easy but you have friends to rely on to help you threw it all,Then you have Branch admitting he happy he had S1-S8 growth but he still loves who he is and dosen't want to be the definition of a Troll he wants to be his own Troll and Poppy and the Snack Pack give a great speach that they accept Branch for who he is and love how he is and how he will grow and evole like the rest of the Snack Pack but they will all stick togther to help and understand each other no matter what.
That brings us to Trolls World Tour Barb goal is to make everyone Rock Troll clones we don't know what that means when a Troll changes to one but Im guessing it means whatever personality who had will be gone so Movie Poppy and Branch to S1-S8 Poppy and Branch and even the Snack Pack being themselves and learning life lessons and something new about themselves will be lost and set to restart but now your a Rock Troll. *Again just a theory here* And this is what Poppy dosen't want she wants not only her Troll Tribe and friends and family to be free to be their own Troll but she dosen't want other Trolls to suffer being their best possible self and that's what Poppy is all about.
-Self Love
-Self Discovery
-Understanding Even If Hard
Poppy is an amazing character that is an amazing icon for kids, families, and everyone all over and homegirl is litterly from a toy brand that died from 2006 (Trollz by Hasbro was the last Trolls thing) and then rebooted by Dreamworks as a toy fantasy jukebox musical. This character could have been the biggest mistake given all the negatives that critics have "Oh boy another toy movie bet its no Lord and Miller film level of amazing." And "Oh boy a jukebox musical cringe." But yet Trolls has manage to create good morals such as finding happyniess in healthy ways and friendship also selfworth and love. But they some how pulled off creating the best character who wears their heart of gold on their selves. Dreamworks and Trolls crew show or movie or whatever you do for the franchise thank you.

The Woes and Antics of Living Together-3
THIS CHAPTER! Gaaaahhh!!! It felt like it goes on forever even though it doesn't because I just couldn't get the right words to come out! So, sorry if it seems rough in places I was trying to work through my slight writers block. More slice-of-life like stuff will start next chapter as I attempt to drag this out a little bit rather than just skipping all the way to the Broppy goodness like I want to. (Also we need some of that mutual pining I promised all of you heehee~)
Enjoy.
Previous Chapter/Next Chapter; AO3/FF.net
                                                    ~*~*~*~*~*~
The next day after morning classes found Poppy skipping her way up to Branch's soon to be old building to help him collect his things. The day was bright and sunny, a sure fire sign that it was going to be great and she couldn't wait to have her new roommate all settled in. Humming a cheerful tune, she glanced around the hallway as she found her way to Branch's door and thought the place could really need a new coat of paint and maybe some pictures of puppies and kittens, everyone loved seeing puppies and kittens! Glancing at the slip of paper Branch had hastily wrote his apartment number on, she found the correct door and knocked in tune to her song.
She heard a muffled 'In a minute' and figuring he had all however many extra locks locked up -he could be so paranoid the dork- leaned against the wall with her phone to wait for him. Making a quick post on all her accounts to tell all her wonderful followers about the excitement happening, Poppy started to scroll though her feed to pass the time, swaying in time to her humming. After a few moments a shadow was suddenly looming over her and she glanced up to see a large man standing next to her.
"Well hey there, Girly~ Never seen ya here before." He said, leaning a hand on the wall.
"Hi! I'm Poppy!" She beamed, "I'm just here waiting for my friend."
"Heh, well how 'bout I...entertain ya till this friend shows up, eh?" He leered closer, musty breath fanning into her face, "The backroom of the lobby is nice and cozy."
"Back off, Griff." Branch's familiar growl echoed as he suddenly appeared between Poppy and the man.
"Oh-ho! Why should I? She ya girlfriend?"
Branch sputtered, "What?! No!"
Poppy smiled and placed her hands on Branch's shoulders, "But I am his friend! And his new roommate! I'm here to help him move!"
Griff snorted, "Shackin' up with a girl, huh? Heh, sure she ain't ya girlfriend?"
Branch growled and tried to fight down the blush he felt rushing to his cheeks, "Just leave us alone, alright? I'm moving just like you wanted."
"Che, whatever. Good riddance." Griff then lumbered off down the hall leaving the new roommates alone.
"Bye! Have a good day!" Poppy cried after him.
Huffing, Branch grabbed her arm and dragged her into his apartment, "You do realize he was trying to come onto you, right?"
"Psh, oh please, Branch." Poppy said, flapping her hand in the air, "I'm a big girl, I can take care of myself and would've been fine. And can't you just be nice for once?"
"No."
Heaving a fond sigh and rolling her eyes, Poppy glanced around the fairly barren apartment, seeing nothing but a few boxes and an old mattress, "Oh...wow. This, uh....this all you have?"
"Pretty much." He had to sell whatever secondhand furniture he had to make rent sometime ago.
"Well...At least it'll only take us like one or two trips to get in loaded in my car!" She proclaimed, finding the bright side of things, like always. "Say, what's in here?" She asked suddenly, going to open a lid of a box.
Branch slammed his hand down on the lid, "Nothing important."
"Aww, come on, Branch. Let me see! I promise not to tell if it's embarrassing~"
It was embarrassing but like hell was he going to let her see it was his collection of all the invitations she had given him, "It's just personal stuff, alright?"
"Fiiine." Poppy pouted before glancing at the some of the other boxes, "What's all these?" She grabbed an unopened can of beans and grimaced at the date, "Dude, these are all expired, you know that right?"
"They are not." He tapped the top, "Those are just the purchase by dates, they haven't been open so they're still good. As for what this is all for, is provisions of course. Food, water, medical supplies all in case of an emergency."
Poppy snorted, "What kind of emergency? Zombie Apocalypse?"
"Maybe. You just never know."
Giggling, she placed the can back in the box, "Okay, fine. You can bring your 'Emergency Supplies' but you're going to have to freshen some of the stuff up."
Branch rolled his eyes and grabbed a couple boxes, "You'll be grateful for them when there's a zombie outbreak, just wait."
Poppy merely laughed in response as she lifted some boxes and started taking them out the door.
                                              ~*~*~*~*~*~
It had been easy enough to fit Branch's minimal possessions in Poppy's hot pink Volkswagon Beetle before leaving the decrepit apartment building behind and Branch couldn't help heaving a silent sigh at finally being out of that place. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all? Minus having to keep his feelings in check and to try to not watch every little thing she did with that adorable passion she had and to keep from spouting all the poetic words that wanted to spill out right this very moment for giving him this opportunity and-Nope! Branch growled to himself to stop thinking like that and stared out the window, trying to ignore the way Poppy bopped her head to the music playing on the radio and sang along.
He watched the old, grey and crumbling buildings of his old neighborhood meld into the better part of the city as they drove to Poppy's apartment complex. Bright shops and businesses flew by and Branch made a mental note to work out a new bus system for himself now that he'd be living somewhere new. Soon they turned into a parking lot and parked in front of a cheery, tall white building with sparkling windows and vibrant foliage surrounding it. Branch quietly appreciated it's curb appeal as he got out of the car, this was defiantly a place fitting for the pinkette dancing around the front of the car.
"Ok, so! Do you want to see the place first and then come back for stuff? Or start taking stuff up now?"
"Might as well start taking things. Get this over with."
Poppy gave him an exasperated look as she gently smacked his arm, "Oh, stop acting like this is the end of the world. This is gonna be great!" She weaved around him to go unlock the trunk before grinning wildly and jumping up and down, "Creek! Over here!"
Branch's almost relaxed state vanished as he turned with a scowl to watch the person he disliked most casually walk over. Creek Ophir, who wore bright, eye burning yellow pants, sandals, had the worse combination of teal and green ombre hair and was always spouting something about 'spiritual enlightenment' had been a thorn in Branch's side since middle school. He hadn't even done anything to him, they just never got along and it never did Branch's poor heart any good to see just how happy Poppy became in the presence of the 'guru'.
"Why the hell is he here?"
Unlucky for Branch, Creek had heard that, "Why, I simply came over to help Poppy move in her new roommate of course. No need to be so hostile, Mate." He then smiled at Poppy, "And hello, Poppy."
"Hi~!" She chirped, "And, Branch, chill. This will go faster with three people verses two."
Branch scoffed and reached inside the tiny car to grab the few boxes they fit into the backseat, it wouldn't have taken them that long, he barely had anything! Grumbling to himself and wishing Creek would just disappear, Branch followed Poppy as she skipped up to the building, leading the way into the lobby and to the elevator. A short ride later found them on the sixth floor and Poppy led the way to her apartment.
Dropping the boxes in her hands by the door, the pinkette danced in placed as she rummaged around in her sparkly teal purse for her keys. Laughing in success, she pulled out a keyring full of mostly silly keychains and jiggled them as she unlocked the door. Dropping them back into her purse, Poppy picked the boxes back up and bumped open the door with her hip as she declared brightly, "Ta-dah! Welcome to your new home, Branch!"
Rolling his eyes at her dramatics, Branch followed in after her and took in where he'd be living for an indefinite amount of time. The front door opened into a small foyer overflowing with Poppy's shoes and a cluttered end-table before leading out into the open concept living room and kitchen. The kitchenette was small but not cramped and looked like it had pretty good counter space between the oven and fridge, with a little more on the other side where the sink sat in the island/bar. Branch set his boxes on the table that was butted up against the island and covered in various magazines and colorful binders as he looked at the living room portion.
Cozy and warm were the best way to describe it with it's pale blue couch (overflowing with multi-colored cushions), bright pink armchair (was that a giant stuffed animal peeking over the top?) and beanbags sitting around a scrapbook and glitter covered coffee table. A decently sized wide-screen TV sat across the wall, surrounded by game consoles and racks full of movies and games. Shelves and pictures covered the walls, each overflowing with bits of Poppy's personality and her love for her friends. Branch couldn't help but feel a little out of place in this brightly colored apartment as he looked around at Poppy's life.
"Soooooo," Said young woman drawled as she watched her new roommate look around, "What'cha think?"
"It's...bright." He grimaced, "And do you ever clean up around here? There's clutter everywhere."
Poppy placed her hands on her hips, "Excuse you, it has a healthy lived in feel, thank you very much!"
"Now, now, let's not let any negativity ruin such a...fun occasion, shall we?" Creek said as he sat a large box on the counter, "Branch, mate, there's no need to be so judgmental. And, Poppy, Love, you have a very unique way of letting yourself be captured in everything you do. Don't let anyone ever tell you to do different."
Poppy giggled as she grinned at Creek, "Oh, I know~ But thank you for saying that."
Branch gagged before gesturing to the small hallway he could see, "I'm going to go put this in my room."
"Oh! Right!" Poppy grabbed her boxes again and flounced down the hall, "This way~!"
"I think I could've found it on my own, Poppy."
"Says the one that couldn't find me when we played hide n' seek when we were kids ever."
Branch blinked at the sudden callback to their childhood but didn't let that stop him from replying, "For your information I let you win." She never had to know he actually had the worse time finding her and she was as good as she thought she was.
"Ha! Sure~ Anyway!" She hip checked the door at the end of the hallway open, "Here you go!"
The room was decent size, able to fit the full-sized bed in the corner plus the dresser and desk already in there nicely. The bed was made with soft looking periwinkle sheets and the window had some gentle blue curtains framing it. There was also what looked to be some overflow of Poppy's craft supplies in there but all in all it was a nice looking room, it was just missing a bookcase. Although it was shockingly bare compared to the rest of the apartment.
"I'll get the rest of my stuff out, don't worry." Poppy said as Branch sat his stuff down on the bed.
"That would be good." He snarked instead of saying thank you like a normal person would.
Poppy stuck her tongue out at him before turning around, "Let's go get the rest of your stuff, yeah? Then you can 'Branch' up the room to your liking."
"Haha." He replied as he followed her out and back down the picture filled hallway glancing into both the bathroom and her room as they went by. A lot of pink was all he managed to see.
They came back to the living room to find Creek plucking cans out of Branch's ration box and placing them on the counter. He looked up with that stupid condescending smirk of his when he noticed them, "You do know most of these are expired, yes?"
"That's what I told him."
Branch rolled his eyes, "And I told you they're rations and as long as they aren't opened or the cans dented they're fine. Those dates are just when they should be sold by. Now let's go get the rest of my stuff."
As Branch stormed out the door, Poppy couldn't help shaking her head, "He can be so touchy about things."
"Well some people are just like that. The thing to remember is to not let their life choices effect yours." Creek smiled at her, "And do be sure not to eat anything is these cans, I don't want to hear you've gotten sick."
"Don't worry, I'm gonna make sure they get replaced." Poppy giggled. She then bounced up and kissed him on the cheek, "And thanks so much for helping today~"
"Not a problem, Sweet~"
Giggling some more, Poppy skipped out the door with Creek following to go catch up with Branch at the elevator. He frowned at them before pressing the down button and waiting for the doors to open. Once inside, Poppy bounced and sang softly between Creek and Branch before suddenly exclaiming, "Oh!"
"What?" Branch asked, without thinking.
"I almost forgot!" She pulled her phone out of her pocket before suddenly wrapping her arm around Branch's neck and smooshing their faces together, "Selfie~!"
She snapped a picture just before Branch could pull away, "What was that for?!"
"Duh, to commemorate the occasion." She said as she typed away on the small screen, "Gotta post an update on the moving day for the followers."
"Huh?"
"Don't you follow social media, Branch?"
"No. I use the computers at school for homework and real news." And maybe some conspiracy video's now and again, just to know what to look out for.
Rolling her eyes, Poppy pocketed her phone, "Social media is news. Oh! We should make you an account on Instagram or Twitter! Wouldn't that be fun? You could follow me and the rest of the Snack Pack!"
"No."
"Aw, come on. You'd love it."
"No, I wouldn't."
"Yes, you would."
"No."
"Yes."
Creek chuckled at their childish banter, "You know, Branch, Poppy's right. I'm sure you could find something pertaining to your...unique tastes."
Glowering at Creek as they exited the elevator, Branch growled, "No."
"You don't have to be such a stick in the mud, Branch. Posting is fun! And so is vlogging!"
"Ah, yes. Poppy is quiet the known vlogger. She's fairly popular on Youtube, then again it is very hard not to love her."
"Creek~" Poppy giggled.
Branch gagged again as he went toward her brightly colored car, "You do know that there could be anyone behind those so called 'followers' right? Serial killers, rapists, sicko's with a weird fetish! And you're just giving away your personal information like it's nothing!"
"Oh please, you worry too much. And I know not to trust everything on the internet, I'm not stupid, Branch. Also I'm surprised you know what a vlogger is."
"I've heard Bridget and Gristle gush about it before." And he wasn't a complete idiot, just because he wasn't into keeping up with social media didn't mean he hadn't seen a vlog or two. He just didn't get them. "Let's just finish this up."
Another trip up to the apartment was all it took to finish getting his things in and Branch was ready to unpack and to try and ignore the personified sunshine he now lived with. However, Poppy had other plans as she stopped him before he could retreat into his new room.
"Before I forget again..." She started before pulling something out of her pocket with a flourish, "Dah! Dah! Da-dah! Your key! You are officially my roommate now."
She dropped the key into his hand and he couldn't help tilting his head as he looked at the wink face emoji key cap she had added, "...Thanks."
"No problem~" She giggled.
"Well, as fun as this has been, I'm afraid I must be going." Creek spoke up, "I have a yoga class to get to."
"Oh! Of course!" Poppy skipped over to him, "I'll walk you out. Be right back, Branch. No disappearing into your room yet! We're gonna do some roommate bonding when I get back!"
"What?" He asked but they weren't listening as they walked out the door.
Rolling his eyes and deciding to ignore whatever 'roommate bonding' Poppy had in mind, Branch turned to head down the hallway but something on one of the shelves lining the wall caught his eyes. Wandering over, Branch stared in disbelief at the old, dingy and dinged up cowbell that Poppy had kept with her all throughout elementary and middle school. He couldn't believe she had the stupid thing, he had thought she had finally grown out of it in high school but apparently he was wrong.
Now sort of curious, Branch looked though her collection of pictures, seeing snapshots of her life. Most of them had her main group of friends in some variation, while others held her and people she clearly had charmed with her sunny personality. There were shots of people partying, playing games, her dad of course, Branch was even surprised to see one of him and her. Her seven year-old self was smiling widely, freckles gleaming in the sun with arms wrapped tightly around his ten year-old self, who was smiling just as brightly as he held onto her with one arm, the other holding a first place trophy from the science fair he had entered. Branch let himself remember that moment for a second, back when things were happy and uncomplicated but snapped out of it as he heard Poppy come back inside.
"Hey~ What'cha lookin' at?"
Unwilling to admit what he been thinking about, Branch picked the most random thing he saw sitting innocently before him, "This. Why the hell do you have a dressed up troll on your shelf?"
"Hey!" She came over and picked up said troll, cradling it gently in her hands, "Don't diss Princess Poppy. As princess of the trolls she has to look her best."
Branch snorted, "You named it after you?"
Pink hair flew around her as Poppy shock her head, "No, you did. Don't you remember that you gave her to me?"
Now that she mentioned it, he did vaguely recall presenting a younger Poppy with the toy, "Not really, no."
Rolling her eyes, Poppy placed the treasured item back in her spot, fluffing the hair a little, "Well I do. And she's still one of my favorite gifts from you. Along with these~" She gave the rainbow bangles a little shake to call attention to them, "Anyway~" She sang, "I was thinking since it's still pretty early in the day why don't we go to the store as our first roommate bonding experience?!"
Branch gave her a deadpan look, "I'd rather unpack."
"Aw, come on!" She whined, twirling around him and tugging on an arm, "You can unpack later, we need groceries! Cause let me tell you, mister, I am not sharing my Lucky Charms with you." She playfully wagged a finger at him.
"Like I would touch that sugary junk."
"Exactly! We gotta get you some boring cereal. And some bread...chocolate chips...eggs...maybe some mayo, I gotta check."
Branch stared at her as she fell into thought, finger poised by her chin, "When was the last time you went grocery shopping?"
"Eh, it's been a little while yet. Hence why it's a good time to go!"
"So you're using 'roommate bonding', as you call it, as an excuse."
"No!" She crossed her arms and pouted at him, "I think this'll be a fun first experience for us, I've always had fun going with my previous roommates. Plus come on, when was the last time you ate real food?"
"I eat real food!"
"That didn't come from a can!"
"Uggg!!" Branch groaned before throwing his hands into the air, "Fine, we'll go!"
"Yes! This'll be great! Trust me."
                                              ~*~*~*~*~*~
A little while later, they returned burdened with more groceries than Branch thought they'd get from a very...eventful trip to the store. After Poppy had managed to force him on camera to introduce him to all her 'wonderful subscribers', they had gone from practically corner to corner of the store as Poppy kept remembering things she either wanted or they actually needed. Branch had tried to stick to just a few things but after a brief argument over wither getting just canned soup counted as grocery shopping or not, he had relented and actually picked a few things he hadn't allowed himself to have in a few months.
He'd be lying to himself if he said he wasn't just a little happy to have fresh pears and peaches again, plus the small chocolate bar he snuck past his new roommate.
Getting everything put away now was an even bigger event as Poppy, who just couldn't seem to slow down for a second, put on some bubbly pop song and was dancing around the kitchen as Branch tried to figure out where she liked to put things. Her cabinets were a seemingly random host of things that had no rhyme or reason to being stored together. Branch made a mental note to reorganize everything soon so it would be easier to find certain things, for both of them.
"Show the room what you can do, Prove to them you've got the moves, I don't know about you, But I feel better when I'm dancin, yeah, yeah~" The pinkette sang before hip checking Branch, "Come on, Branch! Sing with me!"
"No. I don't sing."
"Oh please, you use to sing all the time when we were kids." She responded as she tossed a boxed of cereal into the cabinet.
"Well I don't anymore."
"Gah! Such a spoil sport." Poppy groaned before suddenly jumping in place as her phone rang, interrupting the music, "Hello? Oh, hi Satin! Really?! A party?!"
Branch rolled his eyes, wondering if there was ever a time where Poppy wasn't excited about a party, and continued shuffling groceries into their places. At least he'd get a few hours to center himself in this new place since she was sure to go.
"Of course I'll be there! When am I not?!" She nodded along with whatever Satin was telling her before replying, "Okay~! Meet ya at your place in twenty!" Then as she hung up, she grinned at Branch, "Branch. My man. How would you like to go to a party tonight? Eh? Eh?"
"No." He was not going to let her drag him to any parties anymore now than before their living arrangement.
"Pleeeease?!" Oh god, she was trying to puppy dog eyed look again.
"No, Poppy." He growled, glaring at her, "No parties means no parties!"
"Oh fine." She pouted before glaring back at him, "Gesh, I was just trying to get you to lighten up a little. As your friend and now roommate it is my duty to make sure you're living life to it's fullest!"
"No, it's not." He waved her off toward the door, "Now go. I'm looking forward to unpacking in peace."
"Fine, fine." She sighed, rolling her eyes before rushing into her room to grab her make-up bag before flying to the door, "Bye~! Happy to have you as my new roommate even though you're still a grumpy troll~!"
"Don't come back drunk!" He shouted but the door had already slammed shut behind her.
Sighing, Branch finished putting away their food before wandering to his room and sliding down to the floor, back against the bed frame. Tilting his head back, he groaned and wondered how he was ever going to survive living with the tornado that was Poppy Meadows. Reaching for his backpack after a moment, he grabbed a notebook and opened it to a blank page and begun to pen down the words that had been swimming in his head since seeing that old picture of the two of them. That woman just had no idea what she did to him and now he'd have to be extra careful not to let any of his unrequited feelings show. She believed them to be friends and he wasn't about to ruin that with his stupid, messy feelings.
Groaning once more, Branch really hoped he wouldn't regret living with her.
                                               ~*~*~*~*~*~
I swear I either focus too much on certain details and then not enough on others but then again maybe it's just me as the beta has given this chapter a pass *shrugs* I don't really wanna write Creek I be honest but he's necessary for what little plot I have so.... Also the Snack Pack will be coming in next chapter! I have not forgotten them! I'll also make sure to try and add more snark between Branch and Poppy, like I said still getting the hang of them. c:

Season 5 satisfied me (best one yet too)
Tumblr media
@eva-93 @bunkerbash @kate669 @solidburnreturned @happyqueenandgrumpydork @sapphirecanvas @gabi-trollastic I just saw all of season 5, and it was the BEST OF ALL!!! I know, there’s another cliffhanger (who caused the trolls to freeze? Party Crashers? Chef? Creek? An unknown outside force? Thanos' snap? (Avengers: Endgame is coming soon too btw)) Anywho, Branch and Poppy are getting closer and closer to each other! I see them kissing in the sequel! Sure, there were some inaccuracies that made some think it isn’t canon, but that’s okay! You know what? If someone wants to write Broppy or anything else about trolls that they made up, that’s okay! They can ignore the canon to write things they love! And that’s what we do here. All of us Trolls fans. I understand fully now. No one has to follow the canon to make a cute story. And that’s what happened here. And on FanFiction and Wattpad and even here too. Branch is still a good troll, as is Poppy. Of course, they didn’t always agree or get along (neither did Han or Leia for that matter), but they still deeply love each other. And you know what? I also have a new dream. I wish to see all the Trolls singing the best song I can think for them, Queen's "We Will Rock You"! I can imagine them to the beat of that song.
But whatever. My point is, I’m happy and satisfied with the best season yet. Thank you to whoever wrote the show and everyone and everything involved in making it. It made my weekend great.

-Eternity-
There you go folks, here’s one of the Broppy (Branch x Poppy) One-Shots I wanna write, as I promised. I will write the other prompts that people sent me, no worries. :)
I shamelessly took inspiration from the videogame “Unforgiving - A Northern Hymn” to write this: it’s a game that shows a lot of mythological creatures from the Scandinavian folklore. Really, it’s awesome and I loved it.
Also, thank you @geekgirles for the song you sent me, it helped me during the writing process. uwu
Genre: Angst. tbh, A LOT of angst.
She’d be back.
Deep inside his mind, or what was left of it, he knew that girl would show up again, at the same time every single night. But did time actually exist in that world of pain and damnation? Darkness was all he was, sorrow was all he felt, and screams of horror were all he heard. Everything was so… static.
“P… Pop…” he silently whispered with a cracked tone and tried to remember, the coarse bark that was covering his form glowed red as he tried to move his dead body. Body… but what body? For too many decades now, he was trapped inside that cursed prison, trapped inside that unholy tree while his bones and flesh were still rotting in the mud, between his own roots.
Branch couldn’t recall his past life or his death, he wasn’t even completely sure he was a human, but he could remember her name: “Poppy.”. Her name, her beautiful name that now was flowing in the cold wind like a beautiful music; every night Poppy would happily introduce herself to him, she would remind him her name, and every night she would ask his. Trapped inside a never-ending loop together. If only she’d known the truth… Well, at least Branch could recall something: Poppy named him the first night they met, a decade ago. Maybe even more, it’d been so long.
“You can’t remember your name? That’s sad… but it doesn’t matter, I’ve got one for you!”  the pink haired human gasped in genuine excitement, pointing a finger at the monstrous creature in front of her face. “Branch!”. “Br… Branch?” the tree confusedly repeated, his vermillion orbs blinking for a moment as he spotted Poppy nodding with enthusiasm and clapping her hands with joy. She wasn’t afraid of him or of the other things around? “Yes!” Poppy declared with pride, tilting her head and giving an explanation. “You’re a tree. I think it suits you, right? Don’t you like it?”.
Of course he did. After all those centuries trapped in that frightening nightmare completely alone, he finally had something unique for himself, something to hold on to, something that made him feel different from the other tormented souls stuck inside that forest: an identity.
No matter if he had his real identity and his life ripped from him a long time ago… he was Branch now. Nobody could have changed it or taken it away from him anymore, not even the Skogsrå.
As expected, silent footsteps coming from afar caught Branch’s attention and the unholy tree felt a warm sensation spreading underneath his thick bark as he realized it was finally time to see her. She had made it through again, but to what end? Everything would start all over again.
When her bright magenta eyes locked into his lifeless ones, he quickly reassured the human girl before she could scream in instinctive terror and attract the Skogsrå, like the first night they met. “Don’t be afraid of me.” the dead spirit declared with a weak and cracked whisper, finding it difficult to even talk or move. “I mean you no harm, Poppy.”.
“Who are you? How do you know my name?” Poppy questioned with a rather scared tone, her messy pink hair covering the sides of her face and her right hand holding her left wrist, trying to stop its bleeding. She slowly approached the mysterious tree, putting a safe distance between them. “Are you a spirit?”.
“I’m dead… that’s all I’m allowed to know and say.” Branch struggled to reply and used all his strength to lift his index finger, pointing at open wound she was hiding. The surprised girl followed the direction of his finger and pressed her arm against her chest, conflicted and worried, realizing what the strange creature was looking at. “You’ve been kissed by the Skogsrå, human girl. Her poison will infect your blood system and rot your soul. You will become a monster, an unholy tree… just like me, poor you.”.
“You mean the lady who bit me in the woods? Is she a Skogsrå?” the pink haired girl gasped and stared at the bite mark on her pale skin, noticing black veining around it and perceiving a sharp pain that took her breath away for a second. “Is there a way to stop it? Please, you must help me, I just want to go home and reunite with my dad.” Poppy begged the monster before her, dropping on her knees and sniffing, warm tears streaming down her cheeks.
Branch wanted to tell her the truth, he wanted to say that all her hopes and faith were just a lie, a mere illusion, and that she couldn’t go home because she no longer existed. Because she no longer belonged to the mortal world. Because she was no longer alive. But he couldn’t.
You belong to me! You’re mine, mine, MINE! You will serve me forever!
That damn voice, her voice, echoed in Branch’s mind one more time to control his thoughts and remind him which side he was on… which side he was forced to serve for all eternity. “There’s only… one way.” he faintly murmured, feeling small and blaming himself for the ill-fated destiny she would have faced soon. While her pink eyes were now filled with new hope and joy, his were empty and cold, because he knew he was sending Poppy towards an inevitable end. One of several. “Find the Näcken, the spirit of the lake… the creature who plays the fiddle. He will relieve your pain.”.
The same play book, the same story, the same tragedy every single time. They were just helpless pawns in a greater game, no prospect of freedom but only pain and suffering. This was their eternal punishment.
“He will?” Poppy asked with a confident smile, getting up once again and wiping her tears, hissing a little because of the unpleasant sensation but feeling a lot better than before. Positive, in a word. “The Näcken, the spirit of the lake who plays the fiddle… got it! Thank you! Oh- what’s your name?”.
After a moment of hesitation, the unholy creature quickly replied: “Branch.”.
“Branch…” the young woman repeated and tapped her chin, nibbling her lower lip and shrugging it off. “I like it: it suits a good soul like you, my friend.” Poppy sincerely admitted, ignoring the shrill screams of terror and the terrible noises all around her, the dangers that were getting closer and closer. “I know how terrible it feels to be forgotten, but I’ll remember you. When I get back home, I’ll light a candle for you at the altar every day, I promise!”.
He didn’t immediately respond to that, he knew she couldn’t have kept her word, he knew she wouldn’t have seen her father and family ever again. “Just promise me… something before you go, Poppy.” Branch feebly requested and perceived his force abating, the red glow surrounding his lifeless wood starting to fade, to disappear. “Don’t give up. They might have… taken away our life and our happiness. I might have lost… my hope and will of trying… a long time ago, but… that doesn’t mean you have to do… to do the same.” he rapidly explained and sighed, meeting her puzzled expression but finishing his desperate speech. “Try… and try… and try again. Maybe one day… you’ll make it.”.
“A-alright.” she gently nodded without understanding the real meaning of those words, giving her solemn word. “I promise you, Branch.”.
Branch wasn’t sure if what he said to Poppy was true, if there was indeed a way out of that loop, a way to escape from that never-ending nightmare. For him there wasn’t, and he’d already accepted his fate; there were no more tears left to cry, no more life left in his wooden body and no more weaknesses in his chest to beat: he was truly dead, along with his heart and his humanity.
But that was ok, because at least…
At least he was going to see her again.
The end.
-Exaplanation of the story down below-
Branch was a boy who lived many centuries before Poppy, in the Middle Ages. Despite he had been warned about the spirits of the woods by the other peasants, one day he went deep into the forest to hunt, and that’s when he met a Skogsrå, a guardian of the wildlife. The female-like creature, offended by the young man’s harsh words and knowing his intentions, bit Branch and infected him with her poison. After suffering terrifying atrocities and perceiving his own bones being twisted, Branch died the same night; his bones and flesh sank into the earth, his body turned into an unholy tree and he completely forgot who he was. All he knew was that his soul was rotten and no longer inside of him: he belonged to the Skogsrå, whose voice echoes in his mind, now and forever. Branch died at the age of 26.
Poppy is also dead, but she doesn’t know that and never will: she’s under the control of a vicious water spirit, called Näcken, and every night she finds herself lost in the middle of a forest with no clue how she got there. Her impure spirit is stuck inside a sort of purgatory as a punishment for the sins she has committed during her life, mostly because of her addiction to alcohol and drugs, forced to live her worst nightmare over and over again. In this case, her worst fear is being completely alone and forgotten by her loved ones. Poppy died at the age of 23 in 2007, in a car accident, and she’s been reliving the same nightmare for ten years. Her memory is erased every time she succeeds by the Näcken, so the evil creature can see her suffering again and again, so they can play together for all of eternity.

Darling, Hold My Hand
Chapter 1: Go Weave A Basket
Rating: G
Ship: Poppy/Branch (Broppy, Boppy)
Fic Summary: Pre-movie AU where Poppy falls for Branch and decides to do something about it. An exploration of how Grey!Branch and Poppy would make a relationship work.
A03
Poppy didn't remember when she started having feelings for Branch. Honestly, he was the last person in the world she imagined falling for, but somewhere between chasing him around trying to cheer him up and watching him from a distance catching those rare glimpses into what she figured was his true nature, she fell. And she fell hard.
It was one of those fleeting moments that she realized it. She was nearly nineteen, laughing with her friends after another intricate song and dance number, when she spotted him. He was standing in the distance, almost hidden behind a mushroom, staring at them with that odd, cryptic look. She gave him a small smile and waved, and for once he waved back. Then, as if startled by his own actions, a blush bloomed across his face and he turned, trudging back into the woods.
It hit her all at once. The smiles, the hidden glances and hesitant waves and oh goodness--she liked him. She liked him a lot.
Trolls were very straightforward creatures. Concepts like lies and sarcasm were not unheard of, but certainly weren't normal. So when one person liked another they always admitted it outright. There was no point in hiding it, and sure it didn't always work out, but after a while the troll in question would get over it and not let awkwardness come between them and their former crush.
But Poppy wasn't so confident. Had it been anyone else she would have gone and just told them, but this was Branch. And Branch...was different. Very different. She had no idea how he would react. Would he feel the same? Would he get mad and yell? Tell her to stop being stupid and to leave him alone?
And what if he did feel the same...what then? How would her friends react? He surely wouldn't suddenly want to go to parties and sing, and she was mostly fine with that. Branch was Branch, she liked him and would try to respect what he wanted. But her friends, her dad, the village...what would they say?
She worried over it for a whole week before she decided that damn the consequences she just had to tell him. It was the right thing to do, and sitting on the feelings was driving her up a wall. So the next day she got up, squared her shoulders, and marched off into the forest to find him.
The walk was blessedly short, giving her no time to second guess herself, but when she found him sitting in the shade just outside his bunker she felt her heart give an involuntary leap. She swallowed and tried to calm herself before walking up to him.
“Hey Branch!” She called. He visibly tensed, before sighing and looking up at her.
“What do you want, Poppy?”
She froze, this was it. Just breathe, be honest, and tell him. Easy as pie. “I...” Suddenly the words grew heavy on her tongue and she felt the panic rise again. “I...um...”
“Well?” He asked, clearly annoyed.
“Um...nothing...” She deflated, all courage and hope leaving her. She fiddled with her hands, struggling to find an excuse, “I just wanted to say hi and uh...see what you were doing.”
He gave her a confused stare. “...really?”
“Yeah! Um,” she gazed down at the piles of long leaves and sticks he had gathered, “What are you doing?”
“If you must know, I'm making a basket.”
“Oh..um...will you teach me?” She asked, trying to find a reason to stay. If she couldn't confess at least she could spend some time with him.
“How to make a basket?”
“Yep!”
“...Why?”
“Well,” she said, sitting down in front of him, “I'm going to be queen one day, and uh...a queen should know how to do things...like making baskets.”
He furrowed his brow and turned his head slightly, clearly trying to discern if she was pulling a prank, “What's this really about?”
She shook her head, reaching down grabbing one of the sticks, “Come on, just show me.”
“...Alright fine. But no singing. Or dancing.”
She nodded, “Deal.”
“Ok,” He took the stick from her, “I'll start it for you but you're gonna have to do the rest yourself. It isn't as easy as it looks so pay attention.”
Poppy was true to her word, even going so far as to ignore her hug time bracelet, and they passed the afternoon in comfortable silence. Usually the reserved atmosphere would drive her up a wall before long, but today she found that she enjoyed it. Branch was there, and quiet fit him, and if she liked him then she figured she could learn to like the quiet too. Besides, without any of her usual theatrics she could hear the sounds of the forest around them, mixing with the relaxing noises of the grass sliding against itself as they worked on the baskets. It was nice. Really nice.
Of course the silence also left room for her mind to wander. She found herself stealing a glance at him from time to time, the deep, concentrated look on his face making her cheeks grow warm, and her heart fluttered every time he reached over to correct a mistake she had made.
In the end Branch made two baskets in the time it took her to finish one, and while her’s resembled a tumbleweed more than anything she was proud of it. She helped him gather the leftover supplies(and tried not to blush when their hands inevitably touched.)
“Well...thanks for the...” he said as he glanced at her basket, “...help, I guess.”
“Aw, Branch, that might be the nicest thing you've ever said to me.”
“Yeah, well don't get used to it.” He said with a poorly concealed blush, “Anyway, you should go. It’s going to be dark soon.”
“Right.” She paused, mulling over telling him now. She didn’t like keeping secrets, even small ones had always felt like lies to her, but she still couldn’t bring herself to utter the words.
“Thank you for teaching me.” She said instead, “I had fun.”
“Yeah, whatever.” He gathered the last of his things and walked back to his bunker.
“Wait!” She called.
He looked back, “What?”
She held out her basket, “Don’t you want it?”
“Uh....” He said, “No, that’s ok. You made it, you should keep it.”
She smiled, deciding that he was very cute when he was trying to be nice, “Ok! Well, thanks again.”
He nodded awkwardly and Poppy held her composure until she heard his door close and the last of his 16 locks and bolts click into place.
“Ughhhh....” She buried her face in her basket, stomping her foot weakly. ‘Dummy! Why didn’t you just tell him?’
She brought the basket away from her face. ‘At least I tried...’ she reasoned, ‘And there’s always tomorrow.’
That was it. She’d just try again tomorrow. And the next day, and the next. Eventually she could confess or Branch would get tired of her pointless visits and get the truth out of her. He was good at that. It was foolproof. Until then she would at least get to know him a little better. That couldn’t hurt.
She nodded, held her basket close and made her way back home.
And she returned, not just the next day, but every day that week, and that month. Each time Branch seemed more and more confused by her presence, but she always waved it off, insisting that whatever survival skill he was practising was important for her to know. He was hesitant, but in the end always gave her the same terms. No singing or hugging or dancing, and she could stay and learn. And she always agreed.
She did miss it, dancing and singing were part of her, but she made due, focusing instead on fire-making or trap building or rope spinning, hardly ever slipping up. She learned to scavenge for food and water, how to start a garden, the basics of navigation and even some hand to hand combat.
As the hours passed she found that she actually enjoyed learning. Sure, it wasn't her usual thing, but she couldn't deny that it was all important knowledge that could help her people when she became queen. Not that she imagined that anything bad would happen, she still believed that she and her people were as safe as safe could be, but she supposed it couldn't hurt to prepare, just like Branch did.
And yet, for all of the time she spent with him, she still lacked the courage to just tell him why she was there in the first place. She told herself that it would come when it came, but a month later she still hadn't come any closer to spilling the truth.
"Poppy..." Branch asked one day, a half eaten sandwich in his lap. She had spent the morning helping him dig a new room in his bunker, getting a crash-course in underground architecture in the process(She also ended up covered in mud, but that was fun in its own way, so she didn't mind.) They both sat in the light of a few bio-luminescent mushrooms eating the small lunch Branch had offered her.
"Yeah?" She replied.
"...Every single day this month you've come and helped me. You don't sing, you don't hug, you don't dance, and you haven't even complained about it."
"Yeah...?" She shrunk away from him slightly as her heart started pounding. She could tell where this was going, and she certainly didn't like it.
"So what's the deal? And don't pretend it's just 'cuz you want to learn because I know that's not true. You've never shown any kind of interest in this stuff before. Is it just some new ploy to try to get me to open up?"
"Well...no, not exactly..."
"Then what is it?"
"...um..."
"Poppy. Just tell me." He said, annoyed. She felt herself blush, lowering her food to her lap. She still felt so scared, her heart pounding away in her chest more fiercely than ever. But...she knew it was time to tell him. She had danced around the topic for too long. Sure, he probably didn't feel the same, and while she would lose all of the private moments and hesitant touches and smiles they had shared in the past days, she just couldn't keep lying to him.
"I...I like you."
"Well, yeah, that's obvious, you haven't left me alone for days." He said with a laugh, "What's the real reason?"
"No, Branch. I like you. Like...like-like you."
His eyes snapped to meet hers, his gaze deep and clouded with mistrust. He let the words hang in the air before speaking, his voice quiet, all traces of humor gone. "That's not funny, Poppy."
"What...no, I'm not kidding. I do!"
"Yeah, whatever. We're done for today." He got up, gathering what was left of his lunch and as she watched him she felt anger rise in her chest. He really didn't believe her! She stood as well and grabbed his hand. He stopped, but refused to look at her.
“I do.” She grasped his hand tighter, “I have for a while now actually...I was just too scared to tell you.”
He turned back to stare at her, still unsure.
“When have I ever lied to you?” She asked, trying not to sound hurt.
“Poppy..." He sighed, "Even if you do like me...I can’t be all the things you'd want me to be. I'm never going to...be like you."
“I just want you to be you, Branch.” She said honestly, giving him a shy smile. He didn’t speak, a slight blush coloring his cheeks as he gazed at their joined hands.
“Do...do you like me too?” She asked after a moment, and he nodded his head and blushed deeper.
“...Of course I do...”
“Really!?” She gasped.
“Yes, Poppy, I do.”
She felt dizzy suddenly, and her face glowed with a deep blush. She took her hand back and smacked herself on the arm, hissing at the pain. "I'm not dreaming..."
"I could have told you that." Branch said, grinning at her antics. "But by all means, continue."
She instead rushed forward, pulling him into a tight hug. He was warm and solid, and she felt safe...for a moment. Her actions caught up to her almost instantly and she stepped back, sheepishly looking at the ground. "Sorry, I know you don't like hugs."
He seemed sad for a second, before reaching forward and pulling her back into the hug, "I don't...but for you...I guess I could make an exception." She wrapped her arms around him again, savoring the feeling. She never realised how much she wanted this. Just him and her, close and safe and maybe...happy. She could only hope he was enjoying it as much as she was.
"Poppy..." He whispered, not pulling away, "I really can't be everything you want me to be..."
"Branch, I told-" She tried to pull back but he held her fast, and so she leaned back in and kept quiet.
"Just hear me out, okay?" She nodded.
"I just don't...I don't want you to do this because you feel like you have to or something..."
"Why would I do something if I didn't want to?" She asked quiety, still shocked at his uncertainty.
"Because you’re a people pleaser, Poppy. You just want everyone to be happy."
"So...?"
"So...I just want to make sure you know what you're doing...and why."
"Branch..." She leaned back, and he let her look up at him. He was still blushing, but he looked more scared and vulnerable than she had ever seen him.
"I’m doing this because I do like you. A lot. It just...took me a while to figure it out.” She squeezed one of his hands, “Can you at least give me a chance?”
“What about...everyone else? Your dad? The village?”
“Who cares? It’s none of their business.” She said adamantly, as if she was trying to remind herself as well as him.
“But it will be.” He said, ever the voice of reason, “You’re gonna be queen one day.”
She shrugged, “So we’ll figure it out. Together.”
“Together...” He repeated.
“Yep. Together. What do ya say?”
He paused again, considering her words, “...Together...sounds nice.”
“I think so too.”
He gave her a soft, adoring look and she blushed before collapsing back into the hug.
“You know for someone who doesn’t like hugs,” She said with a smirk, “you’re pretty good at them.”
“Ok, that’s just rude.”
“More like true.”
“Nope, too late. I changed my mind.” He picked her up and she let out an involuntary gasp, breaking out into giggles as he carried her to the elevator, “Time to go, Poppy.”
“Branch, put me down!” She wiggled against his grip, still laughing, “As your future queen I command it!”
“As you wish, your majesty.” He deadpanned, dropping her onto the soft moss of the platform. She made an indignant noise and stubbornly grabbed him, pulling him down on top of her. The pair blushed furiously for a moment before dissolving into giggles.
“You’re awful.” She laughed.
“You know you love it.” He replied, taking her hand.
She hummed, entwining their fingers, “Yeah, I do.”

True Colors
Inspired by: @ask-artsy-oncie, @tisbubb, and @dawnbuneary (Love your content guys)
I didn’t call it “True Colors” because of the song, but because imma try to focus on making it about not hiding your real personality. The first three chapters are mainly fluff, but the next ones will actually get a story going.
P.S  So sorry for the bad grammar, I…I wont promise but understand that this is my first Broppy Fanfic. So it might not be as good as others you’ve read. Anyways, enjoy!
“Branch had a dream that he proposed, and became King Branch instead of Prince Branch. And Poppy had the exact same dream.“ ~Previously
It’s been days since Poppy became queen, waiting patiently for the day where her happiness will grow x1000 more than it already is. That special day. However, Poppy needs to stop focusing on the future and worry more about the present.
Being Queen of a species that mainly does parties and celebrate sounds fun and easy, but really, it’s hard. The only reason for this is that a lot of her subjects are carefree and don’t really care about a lot of important matters; even when they know it’s life threatening, they take a lot of things for granted and don’t listen. At least she has Branch who would listen and understand her words; always there to help her when she’s having trouble.
Spring: the season after winter and before summer, in which vegetation begins to appear, in the northern hemisphere from March to May and in the southern hemisphere from September to November. It was a cool season, a season that causes most allergies, a season that generations are born with most animals, the season where some breeding happens. Trolls breeding cycle are different than most animals. Female Trolls go in heat in spring, where the air is clear and can usually send a heat scent across the land. Meanwhile, the birth of most Trolls take place during fall, where the Trolls have a lot of resources and items to make a comfortable place for their pod. This is also where the Troll tree gets its nutrients from the dead plants, as it doesn’t take life from the living ones; making the pods growing rate much faster.
(A/N: Don’t quote me on this, this is not cannon. This is just for this story as far as I’m aware of :3)
This was Poppy’s first season, but she hasn’t gone in heat yet. Unlike most female Trolls, she can control her heat. She takes her heat a week back, trying to gain very little attention as possible for this week, wanting to get things done before worrying about breeding. She had to reschedule the two meetings she missed, going to there now. Branch isn’t really affected by the heat of other female Trolls. After being gray for more than 10 years and being isolated from everyone else, he’s learned how to control his desires very well. He hasn’t gotten any reason to mate with anyone…..yet.
"Hey guys” she panted, “I made it on time this time! So what’s going on outside these walls?” She questioned, sitting down to gain a bit energy.
“Well, we have new predators to watch out for, first off” Said the tiny yellow Troll, known as Smidge. She pointed to the crows and birds that loomed over, who can easily snatch a troll.
“I’ll have I talk to Gristle about that later today….anything else?” She asked the Snack Pack.
“We’ve spotted faint….how could we say this-” Satin said, getting finished by her sister, “-….structures far north….” they said as they showed her the Troll sized telescope the Bergens installed for them. There was a very small sky scraper with other faint and blurry buildings.
“We can check it out later. If there is other life, like, other Bergens or Trolls, then we can introduce ourselves!” She stated, kinda excited by finding others to be friends with.
“Poppy, we’ve also spotted new plants for food in the forest besides ours.” Guy Diamond stated, pointing to the forest with all the vegetation for the Trolls  and animals for the Bergens.
“I will take note of that!” She said, smiling proudly. She seems to be in a better mood today, maybe it’s the season. Winter was pretty stressful for her, as that was when she started to take the Queen role.
“Due to the predators, we should make a safe passage for the Bergens and Trolls so they can leave the walls and venture forth without fear” DJ Suki says, fiddling with her headphones.
“I should also talk about that with Gristle” she said, taking a mental note of all of this.
“I don’t have anything to report, Mr. Dinkles has really been distracting me”  Biggie said, “and Cooper didn’t come yet”.
“Okay, well, when he does, tell me. I have to get back the the kids” She said and started to walk back.
“One more thing, Poppy” DJ said, walking to her pink friend.
“What is it DJ?” Poppy asked, turning to her.
She whispers to her, “just don’t be too loud tonight.” She said, and starts to walk away.
“What do you mean?” Poppy asked, tilting her head. The only response she got was a wink. She sat there for a good while and thought……..and when she finally got it……..she ran home, blushing furiously.
Once she got past the crowd of happy and some grey Trolls, she made it home to the safety of the bunker. After the event where everyone turned grey, there has been more grey Trolls. But it’s considered normal now, more Trolls are becoming a bit more emotional; but we’re all Trolls and Bergens, you have the right to express your feelings. A lot of males found out to not let gender stereotypes control their life.
“Poppy? Are you okay?” Branch asked his slightly darker female as he looked up from his book that he was reading. She was pink before, and now she’s red?
“N-Not now, Branch.” She said, looking in her pile of things that she never decided to put away, as they’re still in their boxes.
“How did the ‘meeting’ go?” He asked her, putting his book and reading glasses away neatly.
She smiled at the question, “Very well! I was there on time!” She answered him happily, walking toward him after finding the activity she needed.
He picks her up and nuzzled her neck affectionately. She loved the small affection he’d give her before she had to leave him again, “that’s exciting. I’m glad you’re getting in the grove of things!” He said in a kinda praising voice.
“Thank you!” She said as he puts her slowly and gently down.
“Okay, have a good day, Poppy. Love you” he said, giving her a quick peck on her lips.
“Love you too, Branch” she said, and pecks his lips back. Then she waved and left.
Branch has been planning his proposal, as he has all the valuable items; he just needs the right place and time. The only troll who knows this is Suki; someone who he can trust. Suki has mentioned a party, as he is still getting used to parties, but he just doesn’t like a loud one; but he quiet and slow ones are boring as well.
So they had to scratch that idea off the list. Then she suggested something romantic, like, the place where they first started dating. But then it would be crowded cause that’s literally in front of the Troll Tree. So they had to scratch that idea off the list. But he came to a conclusion that he wants to introduce a very special poem he made long ago to her.
He’s always showed her poems to make her relax, but this one was very special. Furthermore, he has decided to make it by the far beach. He only knows this cause he used to go out and take himself when he was grey; going far to find food and healthy water for himself. He wants to show her the soft and warm sand with the cold and sometimes warm ocean water. “Yes, that’ll work!” Branch mentally told himself.
He was gonna do it when the sun is setting, making it a beautiful scenery. He had everything figured out, and now he needs bathing suits for the two. If he knows the Troll village well, he knows two fashionista sisters who can get the job done of making clothes. Satin and Chenille.
He quickly went over to their pod, not bothering to knock. The two were making clothing for a Troll, and it looked more like a blue robe. If he was gonna propose to her, it would be when she’s not working as much as she is. Which means he’d have to propose……..TOMORROW!!
“H-Hey! Excuse me! It’s an emergency! Satin and Chenille!” Branch screamed as he ran in, interrupting them.
“Yes-” Satin started, “-Branch?” Chenille finished.
“I need two bathing suits! One Poppy size and the other my size!” He said, showing that he was in a rush.
“Two bathing suits, coming right up!” The twins said together as they ran to get started. They know how big Poppy is, and they’re measuring Branch for his height.
While they were doing that, Branch was mentally planning his proposal. He knows about Poppy being able to back her heat up by a week, so that gives him a lot of time before she gets any desires. He wants then had to sneak away, before anyone noticed they where gone. After all of his thoughts, he noticed they finished and they gave it to him for free, since he’s the Prince.
“Thank you!” He said as he ran home, holding the clothing close to him. He ran so fast, he could very faintly hear a “You’re welcome” after 5 seconds.
He gathered all of his items, hiding them in his backpack that he used when he went to help Poppy save her friends. He looked at the time, and knew she was coming home now. He patiently waited for her on the couch, not a second later and she bursts in. He stands and follows her into the room, knowing her stress.
Today was the day Branch would finally propose to his one and only love, Poppy. He went over to her, as she just finished her work early. She stretched and yawned, turning to her partner with a soft smile.
“Hey Poppy, I uh, wanna show you something” he said, a hint of nervousness in his voice.
“Oh really?” She said as she stands and leans against Branch for support.
“Yah, come on. I can carry you if you want” he said, wrapping his hands around her small waist as she laid her tiny hands onto his wide and thick shoulders.
“Please.” She said as she looked up at him. He picks her up, holding her outer thighs at first and then holding under them. She holds onto his neck for support.
He managed to sneak away from everyone and go far past the walls to the beach. Poppy didn’t notice at first, but then covered her eyes and puts her down.
“Ready?” He said quietly and softly, before removing his hands and she couldn’t believe what she saw.
The water met the land, and the land was unusually gravelly and….soft. It was actually cold, but not too cold. It was a nice white color at night, and the soil ran through her tiny pink toes.
“I-I want to touch the water!” She said like a child, running to the ocean water, but Branch stops her.
“Ah-Ah-Ah! You need to wear this first.” Branch said, showing the bathing suits the twins made it him.
She looked at them and takes hers. She knows how to wear one, she has one. But that one is way too small, since it’s been a good while since the last time they had a pool party. She went behind a tall enough rock to change, and so did Branch. She came out in her one piece, which was simply blue, with green at the bottom, flower designs separating the two colors like her casual wear.  Branch had simple Green trunks, with no really special design. He didn’t want anything fancy.
“Now?!” She said, very excited to jump into the natural ocean water before her.
“Yes” he answered as he followed his excited queen into the warm water.
She giggled and splashed; the sunset looming over, turning the water into orange and yellow color. Poppy loved the beach, as he could see her excitement. Now, it was the time for him to say the words.
“H-Hey Poppy, I have to tell you something” he said, as she approached him. Her wet feet was making the sand stick to the bottom of her feet and in between her toes. Her body was soaking, and she shakes the water out of her hair like a dog.
“What is it, Branch?” She asked, going to her bigger partner.
“Well….I want to read you something” he starts, and goes into his backpack, and take out his poem
“Oh! A poem!” She said as she sat Chris -cross-applesauce in the sand, acting like a child getting read a story.
“I’ve never imagined that there can be this day” He started, “A day that love will find its way. Out of my heart and into your soul. These feelings I have are beyond my control. All my life I have waited patiently. For a goddess like you, so beautiful, so lovely. Words can’t express the way I feel. These feelings towards you are all for real. You are the reason why I go on. Eternity can’t separate this special bond. This heart of mine is reserved for you. Forever it is yours, this love is true. I’ll be your first and you’ll be my last. My world, my everything, till my time has past. I will always love you until the end of time, my love, my queen, my valentine.” He finished and he was blushing, as he had a smile on his face and looked at her.
She was blushing, and wide-eyed, “Branch….that was so……sweet!” She said as she kisses him, he kisses back with a huge smile on his face.
“And one last thing…” he said and looked in his backpack, and took out the case.
“My queen, my love, my one and only…will you make me the happiest Troll alive, and marry me?” He said, getting on one knee and opening the box with the choker in it. Trolls don’t wear rings, since they can get easily lost like that. However, of you wear a choker, it shows that you’re engaged/married. Since it’ll be harder I loose it like that.
Poppy went wide-eyed, and almost cried tears of joy. She hugs him tightly, and kisses him passionately. The two lips touched, it was weirdly the best kiss they probably ever had. Once they separated, he puts the diamond chocked around his fiancée’s neck. The two shared a tender a nuzzle, and then changed into their regular clothes before going home.
One week after, and after a long and heated session at the royal bunker, Poppy went back to work. But after weeks, they did notice Poppy’s behavior and figure. See, it takes a very long time for Trolls to birth their young because it takes awhile for a baby to develop in a seed—Simple. You can tell when one is close to birthing day, by the size of their stomachs.
They usually have a small bump that’s barley noticeable during spring. Then they grow a medium sized baby bump during the summer; finalizing with them having a huge baby bump durning the fall. After awhile, more and more pregnant Trolls are seen. Due to this, Parties aren’t as wild as they normally are.
During the fall, Poppy had a stomach the size of an overgrown acorn. Though, it only takes about two weeks for the pods to develop and grow, just to get the baby out. Poppy was asleep with Branch, when she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her stomach and shot right up. This jump scares Branch into waking himself.
“A-Are to okay?!” He said, looking at her as she held her stomach.
“NO!” She said in pain as she was grunting in groaning; Branch started to panic.
“Uh, u-uh, UH!” He said, unsure what to do. Then he got an idea.
“You’re in labor?!” He said, sitting up and getting out of bed.
“I-I think so!” She said, sweating.
He went to get her the needed items to not have her pass out, (or possibly die).
After that long and stressful session, Poppy was tired and ready to pass out. He held a rainbow seed, knowing that it’s gonna be a rainbow Troll like it’s mother and father. But the colors went along with the colors blue, purple, and pink. Branches seed ran with blue, green, and purple. And Poppy’s ran with red and different shades of pink.
“Are you…okay?” He said, and held the seed gently, walking over to his tired partner.
“Yah *Pant*” she was extremely tired.
“Let’s plant it tomorrow” he said, and he puts the seed in a soft and gentle blanket,
She nods and passes out, as he cleans her up and changes the sheets. He makes the place comfortable to where they’re gonna plant it with the resources around. Branch worked all night to make it perfect.
Poppy awoke, sore from last night, and went to go find her fiancé. She found him in the living room, asleep on the couch. She giggles quietly and softly placed a kiss on his cheek, before shaking him awake.
“Branch? Branch? Branch? Branch? Branch? Bran–” She said, calling his name over and over until he awoke and interrupted her.
“I’m up, I’m up.” He said, sitting up and stretching with a yawn.
“Ready to plant our seed?” He said, smiling at her, small black bags under his eyes.
“Are you tired?” She said, looking at him.
“Yes, but come on. A Troll seed can’t last long without the nutrients from the tree” he said and stands, as she holds their seed.
Branch shows her the small and comfortable patch he made for the pod. She smiled at the decorations and planted it in the middle of it.
“What are we gonna name it when it’s born?” Branched asked her, looking at her smiling face.
“Well, I have the names Twig and Iris” she answered and looked at him.
“So Twig is it’s a boy and Iris if it’s a girl?” He questioned.
“No, both names are gender-neutral. Twig can be a boy or girl name. Iris is used for a lot of girls, but I consider it as a name for both genders. So yes, I would name my son, Iris.” She explained to him, and he was actually happy that she was thinking of names and not something dumb or uncreative.
“I had the names Rosie, Pollen, Flower, and Roots, Twig, and Leaf” he said, looking back at her.
“But I do like the name Iris” he finished and held her close.
“Well, let’s see what gender it becomes.” She said, looking as the ground grows a bit. They can see a tiny bulb on the ground. The upcoming parents smile at their creation.

___________________________________________________
Branch is scared. Oh, he is so scared.
Last month was such an emotional rollercoaster for the god of the Night. He had cured himself of feeling anything he doesn't know how long ago. He was just empty and blank for the world out of his duty. When "Poppy" just happened without any warning, he tried getting to it, treating it like another tree that grew in the forest. Cause it was just another Immortal who ignored him. No big deal. Half a year lasted quickly as usual.
But then the pink woman started to interact with him. It woke up many forgotten thoughts in his nighty mind. Mostly emotions like anger or frustration. But when she apologized to him... Like to normal, equal Immortal... Like it was her who was a bad guy in this world... His inside just exploded with feelings and thoughts.
Firstly he tried to dull them, but he didn't feel that he wanted to do it so desperately like he used to. For the first time in his life, he doesn't feel like hiding himself is what he needs. Well, it is even the opposite: he discovers curiously new thoughts and feelings inside him and it is more and more fascinating for some reason...
Especially this weird brand-new thing he feels when Poppy smiles gently or says something really nice about him... or when she touches him...
So Branch is scared. The Palace of Harmony is overwhelmingly big and a huge azure entrance suggests that behind it are so many Immortals, so many halls and chambers, there is so loud of laughs and talk, food and drinks everywhere, and there is nothing like Silence he likes... There are so many reasons to be scared for him. But he doesn't feel bad about his scare. It's weird. But he really wants to walk there for Poppy. To show her and himself, that he really deserves a friend like she is. He knew that he would be stressed, he expected that, he has reasons to be stressed, he was ready for that, he doesn't let the fear stop him this time.
So yes, Branch is scared, but he feels also a bit of excitement.
- So... - The goddess of the Day smiles nervously. - How do you feel?
Branch takes a deep breath.
- Still weird with the fact that we left the Staff of the Light in the checkroom.
- Well - Poppy chuckles. - It is gods' checkroom after all. In the Palace of Harmony.
- Yeah, but... It was said to be the most important artifact in the world.
- I know, dad told me a lot about how careful I have to be with the Staff - She rolls her eyes. - Way too much I think.
- So - Branch whispers after a long while of Silence. - We go in?
This time Poppy takes a deep breath.
- I'm so stressed! - She whispers loudly. - I know it's nothing to be scared about, but what if I say something stupid on the Sharing! I've never taken part in the Sharing!
- Well, it is so stressful...
- I've planned what to say for so long... I wrote it on paper, but I still feel it's not perfect
- Can I see it?
- I threw it away.
- Oh.
- The others are way more experienced than me. What if I... I don't know, say something so obvious for them? What if they wouldn't be that impressed by things I'm gonna share? What if I bore them or even annoy them? What if I say something stupid in front of all of the Immortals, including my dad?!
- Don't worry, I'll be there with you - Branch puts his hoodie off and smirks at her. - To laugh the loudest.
Poppy collapses a giggle.
- It's you who is supposed to be the stressed one - She chuckles.
- Oh I am so terrified - His voice almost trembled. - I do it only for a friend.
She frowns, smiling at him.
- Your friend must be so lucky for having you.
Branch has not a clue how she knows the exact words to leave him speechless, mindless, melted like a snowman in spring, and with heart rushing like a falcon hunting its victim.
He forces himself to stop staring at her pink eyes and look away. He pins his eyes on the blue door handle and the single thought can stay in his mind, it just drops from his lips without his awareness, as a quiet mild whisper:
- I hope she is...
He grabs the handle as quickly as he can, just to pretend that he didn't say anything, and he gives her an asking sight.
- Are we going in?
Poppy looks down smiling slightly. She takes a single strand of her dark pink hair behind her ear.
- Yeah - She grabs the other handle and finally looks at him. - Let's do it in three.
He nods.
- One - He starts counting.
- Two...
- Three! - They say together and press the handles.
The loud chatter just hits them in their face. The huge chamber is full of a talking and laughing crowd of colorful Immortals. There are so many, so many of them. Branch's ears get down. He suddenly realizes that he forgets about the fact that he got his hoodie off. It's so embarrassing. He immediately puts it back on his head.
- I don't know, you look pretty creepy in it - He hears Poppy's voice next to him. - Earlier was better. Much more friendly.
He glances at her and her encouraging smile. His hand clenched on the edges of his hoodie are shivering. His breath is snatchy. Maybe he isn't ready as he thought...
- We can leave.
He even forgets that he is still staring at Poppy. Her voice is so calm.
- They haven't noticed us yet. We can leave if you want.
Branch hesitates. The crowd is really big.
- What about the Sharing?
She shrugs her shoulders.
- I have the opportunity every year.
- How do you do it so easily? - He breathes it out.
- Reading your mind?
- Giving up on your dreams for me.
- Well, maybe one day you will do the same for me?
Branch closes his eyes. He takes a few deep breaths. Really deep. He stands straight. And puts his hoodie off.
- This day is today, my lady!
Poppy squeals so loudly with joy. She jumps a few times like a happy little kid and then punches Branch in the arm like Barb usually does, making him say 'ouch' and rub his arm.
- That's my man! - She cheers, pointing at him with two finger-guns.
He can't do much but chuckle. Now the goddess is really in her element. She forgets about all the stress and worries, she looks so happy to be here and see her friends. She's...
- Branch! What a surprise! - The familiar voice calls him from the crowd, interrupting his thoughts.
Oh. Of course. Poppy's squeal caught the interest. He should've expected that. He feels his head naked and his face too visible. But no no no no no, he can do this!
OH thank goodness, it is Milton.
- Hi - The god of the Night tries to sound confident, but of course, he's not. - Nice to meet you
- It is nice to meet YOU here! - The god of the critters chuckles. - I didn't expect you here!
- Well, I'm as surprised as you...
- Oh, I'm sorry, where are my manners! - He says, noticing Poppy. - It's also nice to meet you, Poppy!
- Not as much as you, Milton - She smiles sweetly.
- As charming as always - Violet-skinned god smiles at her back and for some reason Branch feels he doesn't like it. But why?
- So what happened that you're here? - Milton turns back to the god. - And you put your hoodie off!
- I know. It's so crazy, isn't it?
- Well, now you look much more like you
- I know, right? - Poppy beams. - I told him the same!
- So you made him do those things? - Milton chuckles.
- It was my decision - Branch points out.
- Yes, it was his decision. And I wouldn't be more proud of my friend - She smiles at the blue-skinned god, making his lips form into a smile too.
- Milton is right. You are so charming - He says, looking away.
The violet god and the pink goddess laugh. And it is so good. With every single minute Branch feels more and more confident.
- Maybe we should find some food? - He suggests. - I'm starving after all of this stress.
- Oh yeah, me either - Poppy agrees.
- I guide you to the buffet - Milton points at the crowd. - Follow me!
So walking through the Immortals with his hoodie off is... Weird. Branch feels so many eyes on him, but he also hears so many greets. He didn't expect even one nice greet, so all of those "Oh, is that Branch? He looks so good!'', "Branch? It's good to see you here!", "Look! Branch's here!", "Nice to meet ya, Branch!" - cheer his spirit up a lot. Everybody smiles at him, one guy even gives him a high five (his name is Cooper if Branch remembers it correctly). When they finally arrive at the table with the food, his heart has not a bit of fear. He is trembling slightly from excitement.
Immortals don't need to eat or even drink. They do it just for the taste of food, so it is kind of entertainment for them. Branch doesn't remember when was the last time he tastes something. But Poppy is so excited to try every single dish and drink. And of course, she has to share everything with friends around, and Branch isn't an exception. Chocolate, fruits, fruits in chocolate, cakes, cookies... He feels full so quickly, but the food just tastes irresistibly good. And besides that, nothing could stop Poppy from sharing everything with him.
While more and more her friends are coming to meet the goddess of the Day, Branch also starts to be surrounded by Immortals. They all are just fascinated to meet him face to face. His real blue face. They treat him like a lost brother who's found after years, who was missed and longed-for, and it is so touching. He never dreamed about them being so nice to him, but the last thing he expected was that he could find a lot in common with some of them. He has no idea how long he spent debating with Delta Dawn, the goddess of Justice, and Quincy, the god of Wisdom, about trolls' near and far future.
And then, out of sudden, the sound of the bells' ringing carries through the chamber. Everybody cheers and starts to leave. Except for Branch.
- So... I guess it's the Sharing time - He hears Poppy's voice next to him.
- Yep. They are going to the Sharing room?
- Yes.
- Are we going with them?
The pink woman bites her lips and starts nodding.
- Scared and excited? - The god guesses.
- Yes.
- Me either - He says and shows her a fist to bump.
- A fist bump? - She chuckles.
- Barb taught me. She gave me a professional handshaking course. I have the license now.
Poppy laughs heartily. After hours of talking with the others Branch really missed that sound. She bumps his fist and adds a little 'explosion'.
- I have to say, I'm pretty impressed - She smiles at him. - I didn't expect you would adapt so quickly.
- Neither did I - He smirks. - But I am so glad that you forced me to come here.
- I forced you? You made this decision yourself! I even told you many times that you didn't have to come!
- I know, I know - Branch chuckles. - But it is your fault after all.
And out of sudden, totally automatically, without thinking, without planning it, without any reason to do that, he just raises his hand and grabs the strand of her hair that just fell on her face and put it behind her ear. As if he does it every day, but he doesn't. He did it so mindlessly. He realizes what he's doing only then does his fingers touch the warm, pink skin of her ear. He gets his hand back like burnt.
- I'm sorry!
- No no no! It was quite... nice of you thank you... - Poppy says without commas. She bites her lips, looking away.
- We-we should go - Branch announces awkwardly.
- Yes! - Poppy turns to the entrance with the same awkward grimace on her face.
The Sharing room is a place that needs a bit more attention. There are around a hundred of Immortals and the room is big enough to seat exactly that amount of gods. Comfy colorful benches are mounted in circles. The ceiling is really high and in the dome shape to make the room acoustic. In the very center is a little round stage with stairs, so the person standing on it who shares things with their audience is visible and hearable for everyone.
Seats are not permanent, so Poppy and Branch just sit where is the nearest. They didn't intend to sit together, they just sat down. When everybody has a seat, King Peppy announces the Sharing and the room fills cheers. The order is spontaneous. Immortals just stand up and walk on the stage in the center. If two or more stand up at the same time, they give way to each other politely. Everything goes with harmony and respect. When someone tells about their achievements from the previous year of their work, everybody is listening up to them quietly, and when the person on the stage finishes the story, some Immortals ask a few questions with a curious and genuine interest. Every god and goddess stepping down the stage gets a huge, loud applause.
Poppy is shifting on her seat the whole time. After a long while she whispers to Branch:
- After this one. I'll stand up after this one.
- Are you sure you're ready?
- Yes!
- I mean, emotionally.
The pink goddess bites her lips.
- No.
Branch thinks for a moment.
- So here's the plan: if you forget what you wanted to say, I'll start choking so loud so Moonbloom, the goddess of Health, will jump to help me and...
- No, Branch, no! - Poppy whispers, trying not to laugh. - I can do this.
- I do not doubt it - He smiles at her and their sights meet. They both jump when gods start suddenly cheering and applause.
- Okay - Poppy takes a deep breath. - Let's go.
She stands up and gets everybody's attention. They all start clapping again and King Peppy even yells "That's my daughter!" which is a bit embarrassing for her. When the goddess of the Day steps on the stage, the view of a hundred Immortals makes her lose her grip. So many eyes directed into her. She feels breathless for a minute. But then she notices someone waving to her shyly. It is Branch. When he gets her attention, he lifts the corners of his mouths with his fingers, forming a smile, way too wide for his face. Poppy grins, amused. She takes a look around the audience and sighs deeply.
- So my name is Poppy, as you all know, and I am the goddess of the Day.
She takes another deep breath and stands upright.
- This year was really short for me, but also full of hard work and successes I'm super proud of! But the one I want to tell you the most, the one I put all of my heart into and cost me a lot of time and effort, but... It was totally worth it.
She thinks a few seconds before her next words.
- You know, I firstly wanted to tell you, guys, a long story about singing birds and colorful dawns and twilights. But just now I realize what is really the thing I want to share with you.
She put another little pause here.
- It's my teamwork. I mean... - Poppy looks straightly into Branch, but even if someone can't see what she is looking at, they all just know. - Our teamwork.
The god of the Night just blinks with surprise, staring at Poppy with his eyes wide open.
- We made the Midday - Poppy continues, looking around. - The time during the Day when trolls and other creatures can take a break from hard-working.
She tells everything from the very first concept of the idea to the successful final. She doesn't forget to mention what an important part of this project had Branch and his idea of shadows. When she finishes, the audience just explodes with loud applause. Everybody calls Midday genius and amazing. Poppy jumps excitedly from the stage and runs back to her seat.
- Are you hearing this applause, Branch? - She yells to be heard through the noise. That was so stupid question and she knows it, she just was so excited. But then she realizes...
The god of the Night isn't here.
- Did you see where he went? - Poppy asks Holly, who sits right next to her seat.
- You won't believe me if I tell you - The orange goddess chuckles, and then to Poppy's huge shock, she points at the stage.
- So... All I want to say is - When Branch starts speaking, the Silence falls in the room. - I wasn't here for such a long time. I used to hate Sharing so badly, you all know about it. But I feel that for the first time in my life I have something to share.
He speaks confidently and loud, but without looking at anybody. His body is all hidden under his grey capote, only his head is visible.
- I made it with Milton's and Suki's little help. - He announces, and then he gets his voice quieter and more gentle, as if he speaks to himself, looking down at the stage's floor. - To fill the Night with the sweet sound of humming.
He stands a minute in Silence, but nobody interrupts it or even moves. Everybody waits patiently and almost breathless. And then he opens his capote, like big dark wings and the soft sounds of hundred little voices humming a sweet melody carry through the room. Tiny colorful birds fly from the stage and surround the audience to its amazement.
- Hummingbirds! - Poppy squeals way too loud. - It's hummingbirds!
- Yes, it is - Branch nods, aware that the pink goddess can't hear him. He smiles at her pure happiness, at her eyes pin in the birds flying around.
If a year ago someone told him that he would take part in the Sharing, the god of the Night would laugh or at least swear that if it'd so, he would be forced to do it. But now, he is standing on the stage willingly. And he doesn't regret being here.
