Kibbe Observations

Theatrical Romantics often have distinct husky voices. Morgan Fairchild, Jane Seymour, Salma Hayek, Mila Kunis (if you watch Black Swan you can listen to her speak at a lower pitch, people who have husky voices sound shrill when they speak at a higher pitch which is how Mila usually speaks)

I feel like every Kibbe type has a few celebs who intuitively always dress for their type and a bunch of others who absolutely never do lol.

Sofia Vergara, Kelly Brook, Ava Gardner, Christina Hendricks etc are Soft Dramatics who almost always wear their lines.

Salma Hayek, Joan Collins are TRs who pretty much embody TR glam most of the time.

3. Kibbe is based on vibes someone gives off, more than you would think. There are certain criteria that has to be met for each type but there are exceptions, always!!

Audrey Hepburn was 5'7 but she's a true Gamine. It's rare to see a tall Gamine but it's not impossible

Beyonce is also 5'7 but she's a Romantic even though most Romantics are short.

4. Kibbe is about image identity. That means the image you project. You can analyse the length & breadth of someone's shoulders & calves all you like but your image identity is MORE than that. I'll use an example. Mila Kunis & Sarah Hyland, pretty much look like sisters yet the vibes they give off are different.

Mila Kunis has a very sultry, sensuous "femme fatale" essence (she's verified TR) but Sarah Hyland has a more innocent but kind of mischievous, more youthful vibe. You can easily see that Mila has a more "dark feminine" energy whereas although Sarah has similar coloring and features, she still feels more light feminine.

Here she is in a very TR-esque outfit but something feels off

This outfit would look really weird on a lot of people (a tutu skirt for God's sake 😭) but she looks good in it

in this dress however, she looks like a kid who wore a grown up dress. her youthful vibe contrasts the heavy romantic vibes of this dress

However, here she looks like a complete doll. again, this look seems to suit her in a way it wouldn't suit most people.

This dress is a little too intense for her.

I would say she's Soft Gamine

She has Gamine essence and it's the kind of styling that looks best on her

Let's compare her to Mila Kunis now

Mila, kinda looks like she's wearing a costume here. It looks very off.

Here she's in a very Romantic outfit with a dash of glamour and she looks greattt

Tea length dresses only look good on Gamines imo and here Mila looks very out of place

despite being very short, tea length dresses, even in a more Dramatic style, does not seem to suit Mila

Here she is, in a very TR look and it really harmonizes all her features and attributes.

this dress would be more flattering on a Natural type but Mila does not look like herself here

aside from the fact that this dress needed some ironing, this is probably the most TR look Mila has ever worn and it really makes her shine

5. In order to be SD, you need to have a T shaped silhouette. Broad shoulders, small waist and proportionately small hips. SDs are not "tall TRs".

6. Sofia Vergara & Joe Manganiello are my SD power couple

its sooo easy to tell that they both have similar essences and project a similar image

however, here she is with her former fiancee Nick Loeb. Sofia's overpowering Dramatic essence makes her stand out and she almost looks out of place next to Nick, who is FN. Their essences clash with each other and make them kind of awkward looking together.

There is a meme about how Brad Pitt imitates the women he's with. Let's see how he channels his different essences with different women.

Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt are both Naturals (FN & SN) with Dramatic/Romantic essence

Together they project a very larger than life, powerful, strong and intense vibe

Here he is, with Jennifer Aniston. as a couple, they project a more grounded, couple-next door, warm vibe. they're like the cool couple on a college campus, two hot people who look good together but in a very earthy, grounded way. Jennifer Aniston is also a Natural (SN)

Brad has Dramatic essence however Jen is pure Natural. so while Brad can pull off a more intense styling, Jen would look kinda out of place in it.

The dress and leather in general is too overpowering on her

However, she really shines in outfits like these that let her true essence be reflected. everybody, especially in the last couple of years, has been imitating Rachel Green (and 90s style in general) but imo, its most flattering on Naturals because of the way clothes were designed in that decade.

Here he is with Gwyneth Paltrow. Gwyneth is yet another Natural (FN) but she has Classic essence. The thing about possessing Classic essence is that you have a perfect yin-yang balance, so nothing stands out individually since everything blends together perfectly. Brad & Gwyneth together sort of bleed into each other, their essences don't contrast each other in anyway, they almost look like siblings😭😭😭 , there is no visible polarity at play.

Brad was with 3 different Natural women yet they all projected a very distinct vibe because of their very different essences.

7. kibbe is about image and how other perceive you. its futile to obsess over width and breadth and circumference and what not. dont miss the forest for the trees. also, there is a lot of variety within each type, not all Soft Classics look the same and not every Gamine is going to look great in tea length dresses. every individual is unique.

Amy Adams is FN but she's only 5'2. imo, she has a blend of Natural+Classic essence.

IMO, she was horribly miscast in Enchantment. She does not possess the wide-eyed, gullible "ingenue" essence necessary to play a lost princess. i just wasn't convinced that she's this naive, innocent princess because Amy exhibits a more world-wise, mature and "no-nonsense" vibe.

be it in American Hustle, Arrival or Sharp Objects, she plays characters that seem to fit her like a glove. She's just very convincing in these type of roles because she seems like a grown up who knows what to do and how to get things done. She does not have the air of a ditzy, confused damsel in distress

here's Isla Fisher. i specifically chose Isla because her & Amy kind of look alike but their essences are vastly different from each other.

Isla is a verified Romantic and has Romantic + Ingenue essence and she's perfect in films like Confessions of a Shopaholic because she's convincing as a ditzy airhead who is slightly naive and very confused. (this being one manifestation of the ingenue essence) if you look at her career, she's by and large done a lot of romcoms. It's hard to imagine her in a show like Sharp Objects or a movie like Arrival because the image she projects is far more youthful and sweet.

8. there is a reason why kibbe has its roots in old hollywood. old hollywood studio system manufactured stars the way kpop companies manufacture idols today. the were assigned an image to project and each star managed by the company had their own unique appeal that set them apart from the rest. lauren bacall projects an aura thats entirely different from audrey hepburn or marilyn monroe. liz taylor is completely different from gene tierney. most big stars in those days possessed Dramatic essence, simply because Dramatic essence makes people stand out easily. its a very large, strong, intense essence and gives the individual an edge. but the market created space for all kind of stars, there were actors who had a more boy/girl next door aura, femme/homme fatale aura, a quirky,funny aura and more. these days, cinema in general lacks big stars. imo there hasn't been a truly big star in maybe the last 20 years or so of cinema because no one's projecting an image that appropriately fits them.

however, pop music has had many icons and a huge part of their success is their image. be it taylor swift or nicki minaj or even BTS. people connect to them because they have a stable image identity for others to connect to. they have lore, they switch things up and keep things interesting but there's a bedrock that is unchanging and thats what makes them "stars".

sam: a dude. the most dude you have ever seen. sure is a guy. could be 2024, could be 2004 you wouldnt know by just looking at his fit. actually maybe if you get the reference on his hoody/graphic tee but then again, it is probably 90s related

alice: really good fashion sense, but it is so good it has come around and is ugly again for anyone not deep in the fashion space. her way of mixing pattern, fabrics etc is amazing, but most people are just confused why she is wearing a tutu over jeans.

gwen: terrible fashion sense. she does not understand fashion but she knows it shapes what people think of her so she puts the effort in. pretty much copies all outfits she can find on the old money aesthetic. expensive but ill fitting clothes. like her blazers are just a bit too short so it looks off, but she doesnt know.

celia: very basic, but not in a bad way. most of her stuff is pretty old, but she hasnt changed her style in pretty much forever and the clothes still look good. cares about the quality of clothes instead of trends. the type to wear horizontal stripes and a rain jacket in an early 10s colour.

lena: miranda priestley core. expensive classics in flattering styles. the most colourful colour she owns is greybeige. sharp looking cuts like a v neck or a boat neck.

colin: i have never seen an IT person irl but i feel like he wears checkered sweatpants that look like pyjama pants. graphic tee with a reference too niche to know about. no winter/rain/etc jacket, just a hoodie. in winter he adds a hat.

also: alice and gwen once came into work wearing the same vivienne westwood necklace. they noticed at different times and didnt say anything to the other. they never wore it to work again

A/N: I've jumped on the Eddie Munson train, how could I not when he's just so cute? I have a few more unfinished drafts for this sweet puppy eyed man, so look forward to those too. Also I totally did make myself a hellfire friendship bracelet, it's the whole reason I made this actually.

I sat at the Hellfire lunch table my hands tirelessly working away at a string friendship bracelet, one knot after the other, one color after the other. My mind was mostly focused on the chevron pattern I was endeavoring to complete by the end of school, but I did try to pay as much attention as I could to the conversation going on around me.

"I just don't see why Lucas wants to hang around those losers so much." Dustin complained to Mike as they joined us at our table. "I mean what do they have that we don't?"

"Good question Henderson!" Eddie welcomed them to the table butting himself into the conversation they were having.

"The ability to get hot chicks." Gareth interjected into their conversation.

"We both have girlfriends, unlike you. And besides we have y/n so it's not like we don't bring hot chicks to us." My head lifted at the mention of my name trying to decipher what was going on.

"What about me?" I asked looking at the others at the table.

"Don't worry about it." Mike answered leaning past Dustin to speak to me. "What are you working on?"

"Oh- I've decided to make club bracelets, one for each of us. If you notice the colors it's black, white, red, yellow, the colors of the club." I lifted the strings I had laid out before me, all neatly placed for ease of tying. "I made mine last night testing out the colors and pattern, seeing if I actually liked it all together, before committing to making everyone's." I raised my wrist showing off the chevron patterned bracelet adorning it.

"You are the craft glue that holds hellfire together." Eddie cooed admiring the colors of his club on my wrist, worn so proudly, and the fact I had cared enough to even think of doing this for all of them in the first place.

"No, that's definitely you. We couldn't have such epic campaigns without the dungeon master, and you are an excellent dungeon master, always know how to engage the players. And I really like when you do puzzles instead of regular combat all the time, I know you only do them for me because I enjoy them, and I'm pretty slow at combat. So it's refreshing." I smiled at him unknowingly making his heart melt as he realized I've noticed the small thing he does to make me happy and keep me engaged and having fun.

"You flatter me, sweetheart." He dramatically put his hand to his chest.

"So who's are you working on now?" Mike asked taking interest in the idea of club bracelets.

"This one's Eddie's, I suppose. But it doesn't really matter, no ones getting theirs until they're all done. But yeah, this one's Eddie's." I answered continuing to do knot after knot. "Are you guy's even going to wear these?" I mumbled mostly to myself now thinking this may be a dumb idea, I mean guys don't really wear bracelets. Especially friendship bracelets, and it's not like they fit any of the boys 'aesthetics'.

"Anything made by you I will never take off." Eddie answered leaning onto his palm watching my hands very intently.

"Anything?" I asked smugly, smirking as I looked over to him. "Even a pink tutu?" He nodded slowly, his big brown eyes making me melt as they locked onto mine. "Even to one of your Corroded Coffin concerts?"

"Oh especially to my Corroded Coffin concerts." He answered deadpan and sarcastically making me burst out in laughter.

"Now that would be a sight to see, the Eddie 'the freak' Munson, super scary, bad boy, metalhead shredding it in a dimly lit bar in a pink tutu. I think I'd pay big money to see that." I continued to stare into his soft round eyes, my words teasing but I had to admit, it would be a sight to see.

"I'll give you a private show." He chuckled shaking his head looking down shyly, which made me laugh louder.

"A whole private show? Just for me? I'm flattered. But I'll let you keep your dignity." I went back to tying the bracelet, the actions becoming somewhat repetitive.

"I'll wear one, at least to sessions." Dustin added. Besides Eddie Dustin was no doubt my favorite, Jeff and Gareth were great don't get me wrong, I mean we've gone through all of high school together. But there was something about Dustin that just made me like him. Eddie seemed to really like him too.

"Then I will have to put extra care in yours." I smiled winking at him playfully.

"I'll wear mine too." Mike agreed.

"No matter what I'm making everyone one, it's just up to you if you do or do not wear it." Just as I had finished tying another round of colors the bell rang signaling the end of lunch. Everyone at the table began to gather their things and go their separate ways. "Hey Eddie?"

He turned to look at me waiting, for me before leaving for class. "Yeah?" He prompted me to continue.

"Am I still good to come over tonight? I was thinking we could work on my character a bit, there's a few things I need to change on her. And you know, just to hang out like we do." I fiddled with the unfished bracelets strings in my hands nervously, no matter how close me and Eddie were I still got nervous asking to hang out with him.

A big smile grew on his face remembering we had plans to hang out after school today. "You, my sweetheart are always welcome over, and yeah just bring over your character folder and we can work on her." I smiled at him as he put his arm around my shoulder as we walked to class.

Me and Eddie weren't dating, not officially. It seemed so obvious to everyone but us that we liked each other, everyone just assumed we were a couple, at least the ones who didn't really know us. I mean we'd flirt and tease each other enough that any onlooker would think so. But we were both too scared to actually confess our mutual liking to the other. We couldn't mess up our friendship if we never pursued anything more than that.

"Can you give me a ride home? Then I'll just grab my stuff and we can go straight to your house." I asked leaning into him, enjoying his warmth and the oxytocin he gave me.

"Are you sure you want me to drive you anywhere? Everyone always complains I drive like a maniac." Something I loved about Eddie was how animated he always was, he seemed like a ball of constant energy. And he had the confidence to just not care what he did with it, like hopping on top of tables during lunch and preaching whatever he wanted.

"I think we'll live, but if you don't want to I can just walk over. Either way." We fell into step with each other, as he thought over his options.

"Nah, I won't make you walk, I can give you a ride. Besides, what kind of gentleman would I be making a cute lady like you walk?" We reached my classroom door and I stopped before going in.

"Thanks Eddie, I'll see you after class!" I waved him goodbye before entering my classroom and taking my seat, I placed the bracelet on my desk and continued my masterful craft on it.

After class I made my way to the front of the school to wait for Eddie, during the rest of my classes I was able to finish most of the bracelets. I only had a few left to make, which I could work on at Eddie's.

Checking my watch I couldn't help but wonder what was taking him so long, I looked back up and around trying to find him, I was starting to think he forgot about me when I felt two hands grab my waist shaking me suddenly. I let out a yelp of surprise and fear, my heartrate skyrocketing.

I heard Eddie's laughter from behind me making me turn around to face him. "Damnit Eds! What are you trying to do? Give me a heart attack? 'Cause it's working." I playfully smacked his chest scolding him.

"I didn't think you'd scream, I was just trying to play with you." His laughter had died down to a light chuckle.

"I did not scream!" I defended myself putting my hand to my chest, he quirked an eyebrow at me as we began to walk to his van in the parking lot. "I made a noise of surprise, that's all."

"Uh, yeah. Sure." He opened the passenger side door for me before going around to get into the drivers seat. "You can pick the tape if you want, I've had Black Sabbath in for a few weeks now, could listen to something else."

"Wow, you're letting me pick the music? Are you feeling alright Eddie?" I teased him leaning in with a big smile on my face.

"Just pick something before I change my mind!" He pushed me away with his hand, his eyes trying to focus on the road and not me in the passenger seat.

"Ok! Ok!" I shuffled through the tapes in the van and settled for one of the rock ones, I loved Eddie's music but sometimes the metal could get too much. A nice Journey was always appreciated.

The rest of the drive to my house was spent in silence, a peaceful content one. When we pulled into my driveway I gathered my things. "I'll be right back, just a few minutes." I opened the door to Eddie's van and hopped out.

My keys jangled as I unlocked my front door, stepping inside I quickly took my shoes off and ran into my room, dropping my school bag on the floor I grabbed my DnD folder and my string for the bracelets.

Double checking I had everything I needed I ran back out to Eddie's van where he was waiting. "Ready?" He asked me as I climbed into his vehicle.

"Yep!" I clutched my things in my hands showing I had everything. He put the van in reverse and we headed off to his house.

"So, what exactly do you want to do with your character?" Eddie asked glancing over to me.

"Well, I didn't pick the best spells and background for the type of character I want to play, I want to be able to heal my party members better and I just didn't build my character well enough to do that, so I want to rework her and fix her. Plus I want to work on her backstory more." I answered opening my folder to look at my character sheet.

"We could do that, won't take too long. We'll do it right before you leave for the night." He thought out loud communicating his mental plan.

"Sounds good!" I gave him a thumbs up, shutting my character folder. 

The rest of the drive to his trailer was spent making small talk, talking about the school day and books and movies. When we got to his house we headed straight to his room and just started talking and hanging out. A few hours had passed and he was on his bed playing his guitar as I sat on his floor working on the last bracelet I had to do.

"How's learning Master of Puppets going? I mean you've been practicing it almost nonstop since it came out. But you haven't played it yet tonight, did you give up? You were doing so well."

"No I didn't give up, and learning it has been going pretty well actually, I've been using all my free time trying to get it down perfectly. I've just been trying to serenade you with songs I have completely down." He joked with me adjusting his guitar in his hands. "I can play it for you if you want?"

"Yeah, let's hear it!" I set the almost finished bracelet down to give him my full attention. He nodded at me and started strumming away, his fingers moved up and down the frets playing each chord, his tongue sticking out slightly like it does when he's concentrating really hard. He was doing so good, he was so good. If I had to pick only one thing to listen to for the rest of my life it would be Eddie's guitar playing. He just had a way of bringing the instrument to life and letting it resonate throughout your whole body. 

He made a mistake or two here and there but other than that he played it so perfectly, with the last strum of the strings he looked up to me searching for my response and approval. I let a big smile stretch across my face and I clapped for him. "Eddie that was amazing! You're getting it down so well!" 

With my praise he smiled fondly at me. "Thanks. I messed up a few times though."

"That's alright." I made my way from the floor to sit beside him, I removed my hellfire bracelet from my wrist to show him. "I messed up a few times too." I pointed out the few spots I had made little mistakes at the beginning, they weren't very noticeable but they were there. "It's natural. We just have to keep trying, and we'll get it eventually." 

I looked from the bracelet to him, just now realizing how close our faces are, a heat spread across my face, one I hoped he wouldn't notice. "We'll get it eventually." I repeated softly unsure I was still talking about bracelets and guitar. 

"Yeah, we will." He placed his guitar down beside him on the bed gently, so he could focus more on me. "Eventually."

Our eyes lingered on one other, the space between us though small feeling all to large, but neither of us dared close it. Too scared of rejection and mistakes. Taking a deep breath I slid back to the floor, resting my back against his bed and returning to the last bracelet. He picked his guitar back up and began playing again. 

Once I finally finished the last bracelet I stretched, feeling each disk in my spine pop from being in the same position too long. "Snap, crackle, pop Rice Krispies." Eddie teased making us both laugh. 

"You have no idea." I stood up stretching the rest of my body. "I finished them!" I held up all the bracelets in my hands victoriously. 

"Good job." Eddie praised putting his guitar down again. 

"Can I give you yours now?" I asked shyly putting the others in my pocket. 

"I thought we were all getting them together?" Eddie questioned titling his head a bit confused. "That's what you said at lunch."

"I said no ones getting theirs until they're all done, and besides I have it right here, why wait?" I approached him unsure if he would accept, sitting on my knees in front of him I waited for his response.

"Ok." He held his hand out for me to place it in. My mouth formed a tight line at this. Somewhat disappointed. "What?" He asked noticing my expression. 

"I thought I'd just tie it on." I looked from his extended hand to his face now feeling quit stupid and awkward. 

"Oh." He responded turning his hand over for me to tie it on. "You're gonna tie the knot." He implied something more jokingly.

"With you I would." I whispered quietly to myself tying the bracelet neatly on his wrist, when his body went rigged I realized he had heard me. My face erupted with heat and embarrassment, slowly lifting my head to find his shocked expression. 

After a second his shock dispersed and was replaced with a soft smile. "Me too." He took my hand still set on his wrist in his and grabbed the other to lead it to his cheek. His eyes searched my face for resistance or refusal, but found none. 

Slowly he leaned closer to me on the floor, giving me ample time to change my mind or reject him, but his courtesy was just leaving me in anticipation. Meeting him halfway my eyes flittered shut finally connecting our lips, they were soft, sweet. He was sweet. Unbelievably so. 

We pulled away too soon, considering how long we've danced around our feelings. "I think we finally got it right." I giggled at his reference to our previous conversation.

"Took us long enough." I went in to kiss him again, it felt so right, so deserved. Pulling our lips away again I leaned my forehead against his, our noses barely touching. Our eyes softly melting looking into the others. "I don't ever want us to break up, I don't want to ever lose what I've waited so long to achieve." 

"Me either, you're too perfect to let loose. So I guess we really will have to tie the knot, one day. Not today though, let's graduate first." He gently grabbed my face in his hands guiding me to look down so he could place a tender kiss to my forehead. "Why did I wait so many years to do this?" He scolded himself making me laugh. 

"No, why did I wait so long to do this?" Without making him let go of me I climbed from the floor onto his lap, wrapping my arms around his neck I pushed us down to lay on his bed. "I'm never letting you go, you'll just have to find a way to live with me in your arms. Always."

"Always?" He questions wrapping his arms around my waist pulling me closer. 

"Always." I nodded snuggling my head into his neck, taking in his scent closer than I ever have before. 

"I wouldn't have it any other way." He placed another kiss to the top of my head. "Shit, I've been dreaming about this for so long."

"Me too, sorry it took me so long to come up with the idea for club bracelets." I laughed grabbing the hand with his bracelet on it lacing our fingers together with the one holding my own bracelet.

have you seen valiullina's small adagio??? The partnering needs a lot of practice esp the liftings, they are a bit struggling. or maybe i just expected more?? also kuprina is a lovely fairy doll, her long limbs are just magnificent creating beautiful lines. koshkareva, exceeds expectations as usual,

I have seen the videos and will link them below. Was impressed by all three. Kurpina is exceptionally precise and measured and looks even stronger than over the summer. She has excellent control over her plie and uses it well, those double attitudes with both arms up were spot on. This isn't a role I'd instinctively think would suit her but she's so endearing and charming.

I thought Koshkareva coped very well with the challenging Rose adagio. I wish they put her in a slightly darker colour tutu, I think that would have been more flattering for her. Some small moments of nerves, but honestly, I'd blame some of those boys...They caused me some stress and honestly, Koshkareva could do most of it without them. Boys!! You still need to mind your posture and turnout when standing on the side stage!!! You can't stand around or partner with turned in feet!!! Also, the two guys passing the dropped rose from one guy to another made me absolutely lose it.

I am...still intrigued as to why they are hyping up Luka Dubos. He danced twice in this concert, is a foreigner, and was the only boy given a solo variation. Side rant: (I also don't understand why VBA's technique for teaching 'double' saut de basques is so bad. They all do this high, floaty chasse or tombe+coupé to get into it, and their weight is way too elevated. If you watch any pro with a really good, fully rotated double saut de basque, you'll see how low to the ground their preparation is, allowing them to explode upwards.) I was pleased by Valiullina's performance and happy to see her looking joyful and confident but definitely saw moments of laborious partner work. Hopefully another month or so of practice will help iron it out.

Karamysheva also danced really well, with impeccable entrechat six and beautiful musicality. Of the younger girls, the most memorable performance for me was the girl who danced the Diamond in the Precious Stones pas de Quatre, I believe her name is Sofya Romanovich. The credits at the beginning only list the names of the 4 girls and I'm not sure if the order is significant at all, happy to hear any further details here. I also liked the Lilac Fairy from Daira Kulikova. Needs a bit more strength in her legs to jump but quality arabesque line and turned out transitions.

Gosh the Star Princess dress in the US is so much better than the West End ones. So fluffy and not plastic-looking... do you know why the difference between the two productions? It's only happening with the Star Princess, the other costumes of the show look more similar...

In the early 1990s the UK and US Star Princess costumes were... not identical, they never were, but definitely very similar. Same went for the original Canadian versions. The tutuesque skirts and the pearl fringe over the bust in particular. From left: Lisa Duby in West End c. 1992, Brigit Brady on Broadway c. 1990 and Susan Sereda in Toronto c. 1990:

In my view, the changes to the costumes happened gradually from the mid/late 1990s, but for a while to the better. The c. 2000 UK Star Princess costumes were GORGEOUS: Beaded bodices with petal shaped tabs, fluffy bust deco and puffed sleeves, light bell shaped skirts with perfect ombre effect, and overall blush pastel colours:

Being very active in the phandom in the early 2000s I remember vividly how people started commenting on changes to this costume around 2004-2005. Bolder colours, more pink and orange, and that plasticy feeling to the skirt, less ombre - that happened around this time, with the costumes of Celia Graham, Katie Knight-Adams and Rachel Barrell. Barrell's new Star Princess costume in 2004 was a shock, both in the brochure and live.

However, it still kept nice decorations in the bodice, and it still kept a sense of bell shape. This too was to disappear, and some 10 years later the costumes looked like this:

Which is.. in my view, such a sad sight. Replacing the beading with hotstones (and not even all the way up in Emmi Christensson's case), making the bodice deco stiff and the skirt plastic-like, AND pushing the colours into neon... I just don't think it's a flattering sight nor a pretty costume. I also miss the more tutu-like bell shaped quality of the elder skirts. The recent ones tend to be so triangular in shape. But when I thought it could not get worse, they gave Lucy St Louis' costume a Restaged Tour spin and presented this:

Which is the messiest mess I've ever seen, and a far cry from both what the others wear, and what she was fitted with in the promo video. Odd. Meanwhile, the US has kept the nerve of the early costumes and just made it more beautiful.

Look at where the costumes started and where they are today, and you'll see they followed the same directives early on - but then West End mainly started doing their own thing. The costumes looked very good until Maria Bjørnson's death in December 2002. After that... Eh. But I guess Cameron Mackintosh's narrative is that she really wanted all these changes and the changes to her design...

Another UK / US costume to differ quite a bit is the Rooftop costume. But there West End has made some absolute stunners, so it's more that they go for different fabrics and types of decoration, but they both manage to reflect on the costume design in this instance.

Hi, I didn't really know who to reach out for this question, but do you have any tips on how to find your own unique fashion style? I'm not really looking to hop on popular clothing trends on social media e.g. eboy/girl or cottagecore, so I'm not exactly sure where to start! I come to consult you because I've seen some of your posts and you look very well versed in fashion and you seem to know your own personal style. so first and foremost the most important part about curating your own style is to learn more about your body and what flatters/doesnt flatter it. it's learning some basic fashion 'rules' pertaining to proportions, cuts, etc. there are plenty of resources on this if you dont know where to start (kibbe body test, video, video) but keep in mind this step has nothing to do with your weight!!!! i could talk wayyy more about this but at the end of the day, some clothing is just more flattering for specific body shapes - that doesnt mean you cant wear something that isnt perfectly flattering, but knowing your body and knowing what flatters it will make you understand your own style and help guide the pieces you buy. fashion 'rules' arent necessarily meant to be followed, but just understood so that 'breaking' them is a conscious choice. (it also really helped with my insecurities???? like this step is basically recognizing that its not your body thats unflattering, its the clothing, if that makes sense???)

also remember that every 'style' works for every body type. i.e if you want to be a 60s vibe but youre too curvy for shift dresses, there are plenty of clothes in a similar style that would look great on you <3 basically, if you dont like the way a piece looks on you, you can still achieve the same vibe with a different article of clothing thats more flattering. but also umm.... you can just wear the unflattering thing if you want LOL if it makes you happy... then it becomes your own controlled decision <3 live love laugh follow your heart

okay. now that you have that out of the way. there are a million ways to develop a sense of style, and no particular order in which i recommend them. what i love doing is creating pinterest boards for the spring/summer or fall/winter seasons and just filling them with pieces i would wear in a perfect world. i dont mean like cottagecore aesthetic boards, just boards full of runway looks and clothing pngs that i like. i also love making little outfits for characters which can influence my own style. everyone thinks of their style differently; i think of my own outfits as little vignettes with narratives behind them, but other people are more concerned with just wearing things they think are pretty, other people view it as an expression of art or their identity, and other people just want to feel comfortable!!! its all up to you and what youre drawn to!!

one thing that tan france mentioned once was to go online window shopping by going onto the website for a brand you like (regardless of whether its affordable or realistic!) and just adding things to your cart that youre interested in. dont worry about how expensive they are or anything, and when youre done, remove all the items you like the least. and then keep reviewing and removing until you have just a handful of really nice items you really like, and keep doing this with other brands until you can identify common threads between the pieces you like. you dont have to buy them!! in fact maybe its better if you dont!!! and the websites dont have to be like zara or h&m ... go on balmain or chanel if you want, play pretend and have fun!!

re: the last bullet point, i think a big turn off for people in terms of fashion is the idea that you need to wear something palatable and 'appropriate.' its like looking at a runway and thinking "its nice, but i would never wear that in real life." but honestly????? in a perfect world i would be wearing full gowns to the supermarket!!!! if your ideal style is imaginative but unattainable, your style in practice will be a microcosm of it. basically... dream big... dont be afraid to 'overdress' if its what you like!! one of the best pieces of advice i ever got was from my aunt, who offered to by me a plastic tiara. i asked her when i was ever going to wear it irl, and she just looked at me and said "??? you can wear it whenever you want to!!" so true!!! wear a tutu to mcdonalds. wear a bedazzled tux to prom. who cares

accessories, nail polish, hair, jewelry, perfume and makeup goes a long way in developing style. i dont wear a ton of makeup, but just putting some color on my cheeks achieves a kind of sunkissed lovestruck vibe that i strive for. i paint my nails red because i think its chic or bright colors so they contrast with a toned down outfit. even wearing no accessories is an accessory in itself. accessorizing (or specifically not accessorizing) is like adding texture to an outfit imo

anything that advises you about 'absolutely necessary essentials everyone needs' is entirely wrong. there is no one size fits all; i.e everyone says you need one good pair of denim jeans, but i havent worn jeans in two years!!! an essential for ME is a pair of neutral wool shorts, but an essential for another person could be a thick knit sweater or for another person, a flannel. the idea that everyone needs a 'little black dress' or a 'basic white t shirt' is preposterous. YOUR essentials depend entirely on YOUR style. a pair of denim jeans is useless if you hate wearing jeans!!!!

as for my personal style, im mostly influenced by movies, books, songs, characters, feelings, colors, high fashion, and costumes. ultimately, you should worry less about what you want to be and worry more about what you already like. every piece i have kind of plays into some narrative ive constructed, or otherwise theyre all special to me :) if you want to update your wardrobe, dont feel the need to over consume fast fashion (or any fashion for that matter) to do so. if you take it slow and buy pieces you really love, every item will have a story and you'll begin to develop a more stable internal style and they'll last longer :)

How about mercs with a s/o who is secretly a ballerina? Just how would they react with that information?

A/N: I can say with lots of confidence that I liked Heavy, Spy and Pyro’s headcanons with this the most. Hope you enjoy!!

Scout:

- Scout has never seen a Ballet before, so he has no sort of clue on the situation

- When he discovers the fact that you can dance, he goes crazy about it and tries to dance with you

- In your excitement from his excitement, you agree to dance with him

- While you try to do Ballet, he’s doing an inhuman mix of the Carlton and whatever it is he considers ‘dancing’ (Mainly the Carlton)

- Both of you are awkwardly dancing different dances as Scout realised that your definition of dancing was different to his

- You introduce him to Ballet and try to inform him about it, but he’s just even more confused

- Don’t worry, he’s really proud of you, just really confused

- To help him understand, you invite him to a show you’re a part of and he happily agrees to go

- On the day of the show, Scout is stuffed into an auditorium in an equally stuffy suit

- He stops hating the necessity of formal attire when he sees you dance

- He is your biggest fan, and he tries to dance Ballet with you, even if he’s sloppy and no good at it

- You bet your ass that this Boston Boy is going to BRAG about you to everyone he sees

Soldier:

- Soldier only knows 2 things about Ballet: That it can be associated with Communists, or that it can be associated with the cowards known as ‘The French’

- He proudly announces this whenever a conversation involving dancing comes up within the group

- When the group decides to go to a Ballet show, the only ones to decline the invitation are you and Soldier, much to his delight

- Against all the odds, Spy manages to convince Soldier to go

- He doesn’t try to convince you to go because this bastard KNOWS your secret

- Soldier is forced to silently protest against Ballet as he sits awkwardly in a theatre in the best-looking suit he can borrow from Demoman that’ll fit him (Soldier’s suits are NOT suited for any occasion anymore)

- His mind shuts off when he sees you on stage dancing beautifully to the music

- At first he feels betrayed that you’re dancing in a Ballet, but then he finds himself never taking his eyes off of you

- He begins to actually enjoy Ballet. That is, until you’re not on-stage anymore, then he starts hating it again

- When you meet up with the rest of the Team the following day, Soldier is asking you A LOT of questions, like how you learnt Ballet and when your next show was

- Soldier still believes that Ballet is for Communists and French cowards, but when no one else is around he’ll sheepishly ask you to do a few moves for him

- You find his reaction to you dancing Ballet absolutely adorable

Pyro:

- Pyro is already secretly good at Figure Skating, of course they haven’t told anyone about it

- They know exactly what it means to keep a secret from everyone, especially a secret invoking some form of dancing

- When they accidentally walk in on your practicing your Ballet, they freeze and half-expect you to keep dancing

- You stand there uncomfortably until you clear your throat and ask if they need anything

- Pyro starts clapping instantly and keeps jumping up and down as if they were filled with springs

- They will ask you question after question after question, each filled with childish-like curiosity and wonder at your skills as a Ballerina

- “When did you learn Ballet?” “What’s your favourite costume to wear?” “Do you perform in front of everyone?” “Does anyone else know? Because they should!” “Can you dance for me one day? I think you’re absolutely beautiful when you dance!”

- You’re both flattered and overwhelmed by the questions

- Pyro eventually tells you that they figure skate, and you’re just as happy for them as they are for you

- You both dance with each other off the ice for both the fun of it and for practice

- You are both each other’s biggest supporters

- You both watch each other perform no matter when or where you both are

- Pyro asks you to teach them Ballet, they really want to dance with you properly

- You find it adorable when you catch them trying to copy your routines on skates. Even if they fall, they don’t stop trying, and it warms your heart

Demoman:

- This man cannot for the life of him stay up to watch a Ballet. He will fall fast asleep as an effect of boredom, fatigue, getting drunk on whatever alcohol the theatre serves him or a weird mix of all 3

- He can, However, appreciate those that do Ballet, and he’s quite impressed with how people can be so graceful and light on their toes

- Despite the annoyance you get from finding out that Demo passed out during each show, you find it amusing that every single time he went to see a Ballet, you were also performing that night

- You eventually tell Demoman that you’re a Ballerina on the side, and this man doesn’t believe you for a second

- He finds out for himself on his own terms when he catches you practicing a few moves in your room

- He is absolutely impressed with your skill, and he loves seeing you dancing across the floor/stage

- He tries his hardest to stay awake for your shows from now on

- Even if he falls asleep, you love and appreciate his support

- One time when he was black out drunk, Demo begged you to teach him Ballet. His feet were incredibly sore the following morning

Heavy:

- This Russian man LOVES Ballet

- He loves everything about it, from the dancers to the music and the stories within each show

- One of his costumes has a Ballerina’s tutu, shows just how much he loves it

- Though his technique is sloppy and untrained, Heavy knows limited Ballet off by heart

- When he discovered that you were a Ballerina, it was on the night of your first Spring show that Heavy decided to watch

- He could not take his eyes off of you, and he could not stop hugging you and smiling at you and complimenting you on how gorgeous you were on the stage

- He helps you practice at times if he recognises any of the steps, otherwise he is content to watching you dance

- You love it when he recommends you costume designs or music ideas you could suggest for the next show

- You have yet to perform an adaptation of The Swan Princess/Swan Lake, but when you do this Russian Giant will marry you on the spot

Engineer:

- Ballet is not much of Engi’s forte in terms of dancing. He prefers country dances over Ballet any day

- That being said, he can enjoy a Ballet show if he sees one that catches his attention

- You were always trying to coax him into going to various shows that secretly starred you in it, often leaving disappointed at the fact that Engi disagreed with going

- He does, however, finally cave in after you tell him that Sleeping Beauty was on in a few days

- You peek past the curtains to see your Texan man sitting in a crowd in a suit, reading the pamphlet given to him to pass the time

- You could not see very clearly from the lighting on stage, but you swore you saw Engi’s eyes light up at the sight of you

- You couldn’t find him at the Meet-and-Greet after the performance, which did worry you

- You found him trying to carefully rush into the Theatre, where he gave you the biggest hug, kiss, and bouquet of your favourite flowers

- Ballet is still not his forte, but he is very proud of you and will go to shows you star in if he can

- If someone asks about you, this Texan will not hesitate to let them know that you are an angelic Ballerina, just saying

Medic:

- Medic might be bat-shit insane, but he can still enjoy a good performance of any sort

- Ballet shows are some of the few he sees with Spy in company, usually it’s a down-time activity for Medic

- He does become infatuated with a gorgeous Ballerina after seeing her in a few shows, and he would often tell you of her when you ask if he’s seen any shows that’ve hit town recently

- “She has ze most gorgeous [h/c] I’ve ever seen.” “Ze vay she dances is enchanting.” “I should ask her vat her name is~”

- You wanted to feel jealous that Medic had a crush on this Ballerina, except you were only flustered about it because you ARE THAT BALLERINA

- Spy puts two and two together and waits for the day you gain a main role in a show before he openly suggests to Medic to go and see a show with him

- You had to refrain from strangling Spy when he kept describing in detail the ‘Mysterious Ballerina Girl’ in detail to Medic as a tool to convince him to go

- On the night of the performance you watch with anticipation as you see Medic and Spy sit directly in front, in perfect view of the stage, of the performers and of you

- You once again had to refrain from killing Spy after you both make eye contact with one another and he starts teasing/taunting you whenever Medic was distracted

- Once you were on the stage, you could not tell if Medic was watching you or not, but you could sense the pride both mercs had for you

- Medic’s lower jaw has left the chat

- After all this time, you were the Ballerina he was in love with?! Why hadn’t he seen the similarities sooner?!

- He felt like a fool but he didn’t care when curtain call was happening

- He sees one other person running up on stage to kiss their lover and he’s gone from his seat

- He rushes up to you, brings you into a hug, dips you and kisses you in full view of the world

- You hear Spy’s laughter ringing in the auditorium amongst the clapping, but you’re too distracted by Medic to consider strangling the French Bastard

- Medic will boast about you for a very long time to the rest of the world

- He is your biggest fan, and has started learning Ballet so he can dance with you

Sniper:

- Surprisingly Sniper has knowledge of Ballet thanks to his mother

- He doesn’t go out to see shows through, good luck trying to get him to sit in a crowd full of strangers he might be forced to converse with, it ain’t going to happen

- You were able to tell him that you danced professionally, but not that you were a Ballerina

- Needless to say, he was impressed that you could dance professionally

- It was one night camping out in the Badlands when he saw you dancing the night away underneath the stars

- To him, you looked like you were going to float away simply because of how graceful you were on your feet

- He sheepishly asked if you could show him a few moves he could do with you, and you happily oblige

- You both dance the night away, shifting between Ballet, Country Dancing and surprisingly Ballroom Dancing, all the whole laughing and enjoying yourselves in each other’s company under the stars

- Sniper might not have the confidence to sit in a crowd for a few hours, but he will give you a bouquet and take you to dinner after every show you have

- He absolutely wonders how he managed to deserve you in his life

Spy:

- This man has learned Ballet himself when he was younger, and he sometimes enjoys dancing it in private for some rest and relaxation

- He does not, however, know you also dance Ballet

- You catch him dancing Ballet one night in his Smoking Room, and you found it absolutely entrancing to watch

- You also begin to dance beyond the door, secretly hoping he would one day dance with you

- That day arrived 5 minutes later when he noticed his door was slightly open, catching you dancing just as he was about to close it

- This man did not expect you to be outside his door dancing Ballet, but his surprise melts away when you begin to ask him questions on when he learned Ballet and how often he danced it

- He extends his hand and offers you a dance, to which you happily accept

- You both dance the night away in each other’s arms

- When he learns you danced professionally, he buys tickets to ALL of your shows

- Even if he doesn’t have the time to go to a show, he will forcefully make time to see you

- You have a collection of roses thrown by the French after every show

- He helps you practice for upcoming performances, all while murmuring sweet nothings in French in your ear as he marvels at your dancing

I tried on all my ballet costumes for this year’s dance concert today! I think costumes are so fun, I always get really excited about them. We have a tutu for our degas dance and it’s sooo pretty :’) we’re dancing to a song from la bayadere. I think I found a picture of what the tutu looks like. If its not this one, its really similar.

I also have a dance with a fairly simple flowy white leotard dress with a gold belt that’s supposed to look like greek goddesses. But I couldn’t find a picture of it. We’re dancing to a mostly-instrumental version of ‘im kissing you’ from the 90s romeo and juliet movie.

I also have a dance to the song non-stop from Hamilton lol 😅, where we wear a red unitard. You cant see very well in the photo but the top half of it is red velvet. I like how the costume is so over-the-top, it’s fun! but I also don’t think its the most flattering.

Amal Clooney: Kibbe Analysis

So far in the few Kibbe posts I've made I've discussed mostly about Theatrical Romantics & Soft Dramatics. This was primarily driven by the fact that people tend to undertype these IDs wayyyy too much and gloss over all the attributes that determine someone's ID & essence.

With that said, I thought it would be interesting to analyse someone whose ID I've never really discussed before.

Amal Clooney is a Pure Dramatic (also simply known as Dramatic).

She's 5'8.5 and appears even taller, she has a long vertical line. She has a very narrow build. Her body is not wide nor is it curvy. She has a very sharp, very Yang build.

Look at her in all these above outfits, she looks awful in those low rise jeans, she does not have the frame of a Natural so the ill fitted red dress looks awkward and clumsy on her. The gold lame dress is too drapey and she's too statuesque for it to work on her. The red frilly gown is something that would flatter a Romantic but it looks off on her.

These are some outfits that look very harmonious on her. They are super tailored and structured and cater to her Dramatic lines and essence.

the B&W top & pencil skirt looks good even though Dramatics are advised to not mix & match because its very tailored and well fitted.

the flapper dress is not flowy or drapey, it has a very structured silhouette and looks good on her

ofc the pantsuit looks amazing af because its very tailored and well fitted and is a complete head to toe look without any line breaking

this yellow look she wore to Prince Harry's wedding is probably one of my all time fav looks on her. Solid color, head to toe ensemble, thats the perfect length and very well tailored. stunninggg<3

these two dresses are too flowy and not tailored enough to be flattering on her

but look at these!!

she's pregnant in the yellow fit so that's all the tailoring she could manage but its a very structured outfit and it looks better on her than something soft and slouchy

this all white look is my FAV look on her simply because its sooo harmonious on her. it caters to her proportions, the color flatters her, the structure and silhouette flatter her. all in all its a perfect look.

She has Classic, Dramatic & Romantic essence imo

that short floral print dress is a NO-NO, its too girly, too short and the weird tutu type skirt line entirely unflattering on anyone who isn't a Gamine

those leather trousers are hideous but they also make her look bulky and the cut and style is just not for her narrow sharp Dramatic body that looks best in tailored, structured clothing.

the bottom row outfits 😭😭🤮should i even say anything? they dont flatter her at all. the fitting is wrong, the length is wrong, its altogether a MESS.

- When he first hears he has fans, he’s eating it up and gets on social media and starts liking/reblogging it all with grateful compliments

- Then he starts to get embarrassed because he sees the stuff that aren’t for everyone’s eyes and doesn’t want people to think of him in those situations

- Is always nice to his fans when he meets them; he gives out hugs, takes pictures, has conversations, and admires any gifts he receives (just don’t make him uncomfortable!)

- He knows he has followers and appreciates them, but his fans are a slightly different story because they are more intense

- He is nice to them but will call them out on their inaccuracies because he doesn’t want any false information spread about him even though no one should question his word since he is a God

- Doesn’t really do social interactions or hugs, he has important work he must be doing and knows that they will understand if they’re really his fans

- Considering he spends so much of his time in the Sky Temple, he’s surprised to hear he has fan base along with his followers

- He doesn’t mind what anyone writes or draws of him, what people say, or anything because he doesn’t want to limit anyone’s creativity or words and he feels they’re not hurting anyone

- He’s happy to meet his fans, he’s lonely and glad to talk to them and give them a hug as long as he’s not busy

- Pre-burn loves it, he soaks in all the love his fans give him no matter how small, although post burned is a bit hesitant because he feels someone is pulling his leg

- Likes and reblogs everything and properly tagging all that he finds just to be fair to all his fans, but after his accident he’s only acknowledging the clean stuff because he can’t stomach the rest

- He absolutely adores all his fans and will drop everything he’s doing that day to hang out with them, versus after he’s burned when he hides away only interacting with fans through letters

Erron Black:

- He likes it, really he does, but he barely acknowledges them because he doesn’t want his fans getting in the way of his work

- His fans honestly could do whatever they want, he doesn’t really care, but he’s offended if someone draws him wearing a tutu... like hunt someone down offended so he can have a word with them

- Really. Don’t approach him unless you know 100% he’s not working, like the best place to say “hi” to him is if he’s sitting at a bar with a drink, then he’ll gladly talk to you about himself

Kano:

- Knowing he has fans that love him no matter what he does boosts his ego, and baffles everyone around him

- Loves everything everyone makes no matter what, someone could post “Kano sleeps with a Kangaroo plushie every night!!!!” and he’ll make a joke out of it

- Is all for meeting his fans when he’s got the time, heck he’ll even buy them all drinks

Johnny Cage:

- He knows he has fans and he loves it, and he loves them for loving him

- He tweets constantly, posts regularly on Instagram, and he checks everything he’s tagged in and comments on everything he feels is worth it/what he has time for

- He loves it when his fans come and say hello, even if he’s at a fancy restaurant on a date he’ll take selfies and sign autographs (he expects his s/o to understand how important his fans are to him)

Sonya Blade:

- Although she appreciates the thought, she would prefer not to have that big a following so she can focus on her job which is the most important thing to her

- She doesn’t even check her social media anyways, so she doesn’t know what her fans are saying or posting, but she is alerted when something she wouldn’t like is posted and pulls the strings to remove it

- Never is willing take a picture or sign something, if her fans want to sit and talk that’s okay with her

- Is super humble and loves her fans

- Reads every letter sent her way and keeps them all for when she’s having a bad day, and there’s a secret room in the palace where she hangs up art her fans made

- She does have security so it’s hard to get close to her, but she will wave and shake hands (children can get hugs usually) but flirting gets ignored since she’s taken

- Blankly stares at the person who informs her she has fans admiring her, she never thought of herself as someone to have fans

- Is a little uncomfortable with the attention although she acts coy and cool in the public’s eye

- Is kind to all her fans who approach her, but she is in guard whenever approached by someone new... especially if they know more than she wants them to

Mileena:

- Her whole face light up when she learns there’s a group of people who like her, but the desire to want to know everything about her deters her

- Doesn’t like when people talk about her face and body—even though she’s confident with her body—she wants people to know her for her mind and actions

- Although on guard when meeting her fans, she loves talking to them and is flattered they want to hug her and take pictures together

- Will act like she could care less about her fans, but secretly loves them all and keeps them in the loop with updates on social media

- Will fight someone who says she’s not as good as Sub-Zero and follow anyone who thinks she’s better

- She acts cool and tough when meeting her fans, flexes during photos, then finds it later to like and comment that it was nice to meet them

- His eyes get big and he gets this soft look on his face when he realizes he has fans who like and care about him

- Whenever he’s sad or having a bad day, he looks at the stuff his fans tag him in and no longer feels so alone

- He is so happy to meet his fans and give them hugs, telling them he loves them too and they’re never alone

Ribbon PSA

This is 10% a PSA and 90% a Today At Work.

Petersham and grosgrain ribbon are not the same thing and they’re not interchangeable.

Blue ribbon is grosgrain, white is petersham. They’re both double-faced, ribbed ribbons.

Grosgrain has a straight, finished edge, and petersham has the fluted, ruffled edge. Petersham’s edge is usually flatter, where grosgrain’s is likely to have a little bump at the edging. The edge of petersham is slightly stretchy and is very flexible.

You can use petersham for anything that you can use grosgrain for. However, the edge of grosgrain ribbon doesn’t stretch or compress, and the edge of petersham ribbon does. This means that if your pattern tells you to line the edge of a hat or stabilize the top of a yoke or something with petersham, you cannot use grosgrain for it, because that straight edge will not bend or compress. You’ll get something lumpy and sad.

[I told a customer we don’t carry petersham (which we don’t. It’s hard to get a hold of if you’re not shopping online), and she was quite condescending when she found grosgrain and told me that maybe I didn’t know the store as well as I thought. And, I mean. It’s not worth it to tell the customer that they’re actually wrong because of a small detail (it is if they’d be receptive to it but this lady wanted to be right), but, y’know, she was wrong.

And, y’know, I didn’t say anything, just came home and ranted about the minute details of my pedantic textile knowledge, so that you can benefit from this and I”ll feel better.]

BTW, petersham is great for stabilizing and preventing things from stretching. When I’m making ballet tutus with non-stretch basques (the waistband of the tutu), I always put a line of petersham along the top. This prevents the fabric from stretching and warping, which is a huge concern when it’s something so tightly-fit. If you have a curved waistband or neckline that needs more stability and anti-stretch than bias tape can get you, check out petersham. It’s also very useful in hats and bonnets, because putting it on the inner brim will let it form to the curved edge of the hat, but also prevent the hat from stretching. This is especially important in felt hats or straw hats, becuase woven straw and felt both stretch and distort very easily. Basically, any application where you need the flexibility of bias tape for stability, but bias tape will stretch too much, petersham is what you need.

Also, if you’ve been looking for that cute wave-edge ribbon, because it feels pretty and perfect for whatever you’re making, you now know to google petersham. It’s usually more expensive than grosgrain, but mostly because it’s usually made of cotton or rayon, both of which are more expensive to make ribbon from than polyester. A high-quality ribbon can be ripped off a project, cleaned, and sewn onto another one, where a cheaper ribbon (think the stuff you get at the craft superstore in the fabric department) will show holes and won’t smooth back out, making it more disposable.

And there you go, some information that won’t ever be relevant in your life. At least I feel better, now.

REMEMBER WHAT I SAID EARLIER ABOUT THOUGHTS RACING

Okay, so let me try and chase down some of them down. Bear with me, I might go all over the place.

What’s sticking with me most is how Fakir believes the sword is his, or at least that he’s ... worthy? capable? of wielding it. That the antique keeper (I have no idea his relationship to Fakir at the moment) clarifies that it’s the sword “meant for the knight” also, I feel, lets us know what Fakir believes his role in this story to be. Though it’s possible he doesn’t know that aspect of the sword, I find that unlikely given that he not only knows OF the sword, but that he needs it to protect Mytho.

Moving on, we have the antiques guy pretty much saying he lied to Fakir as a child, and continued to lie to him (or at best allowed him to continue to believe the lie) up until this exact moment. Why, exactly? It sounds like something said to placate a child, which further makes me feel that Fakir has been VERY INVESTED in being the knight for pretty much his entire life. Is it because he felt drawn to it? If he and Mytho have been friends since childhood, was it something Fakir latched on to so he could protect Mytho? Was he looking to play an important part in Mytho’s story?

But he and Mytho haven’t been childhood friends, I don’t think. Didn’t Fakir say he found Mytho just wandering around? Though I suppose that could be true at any age, it didn’t have to be yesterday.

I feel like maybe I’m on to something with Fakir wanting a larger role in the story though, and ... well, I guess writing it for himself, is one way to look at it. I was rereading some posts from previous episodes earlier in the liveblog while I was looking for the stuff on Fakir’s scars/birthmarks, and was reminded of this:

But Hurdy-Gurdy Lady never finishes that list. We assume it’s Fakir, but is it? Does he maybe not HAVE a role in the fairytale?

If so, and if a lot of this is of Fakir’s own creation, then I think we can’t ignore that the part he’s chosen for himself isn’t the prince but the knight. Is this a larger commentary on Fakir, that he doesn’t want to be the star of the story but the supporting character? And if yes, what does that commentary say, exactly? You could take that in a lot of directions, some more flattering than others, and many depending on your viewpoint.

Interestingly, since the beginning I’ve gone a lot of places with Fakir, from thinking he’s the prince to a fucking sword. I assumed it was just me having trouble figuring things out, but what if that’s more the point? What if Fakir can easily slot into a lot of role because he’s not actually supposed to be any of them?

I DUNNO. I could be on to something, or I could be on to nothing. The only thing I think we can take from this with some measure of certainty is that Fakir’s spent his whole life believing he’d be able to wield this sword AND NOPE SORRY SUCKS TO BE YOU

Could I ask for Hiromi and what types of parent she, alongside each of the 4 bladebreaker , pulse be and what their kids would be like

HILARY: I think Hilary has always been babysitting, so raising a child feels like nothing new. She has accustomed to being this very observant and caring figure, so she’d always be watching her kid and taking them wherever she goes. She’s not exactly a helicopter mom, but she does want her child to know that she’s very invested in their development and happiness, so she wants to be as much of an active figure as possible. Hilary attends all of your child's graduations, practices, events, and recitals. She would definitely help her kid with their homework every night, read to them before bed, and help them get ready in the morning. It’s a little tough on her whenever her kid eventually grows up and becomes distant, but she knows she raised a responsible young adult, so she’s proud of all their accomplishments and who they’ve grown into.

TYSON: As seen through his interactions with Daichi, Tyson can be rather impatient with those that are younger than him. However, if he was dealing with his own kid, he’d actually be really flattered if his kid wanted to spend so much time with him or learn from him. He’d literally drop everything (and I mean everything, even a bowl of food), just to give his kid some attention. As a parent, he’s pretty laid back and it’s hard for him to implement some kind of punishment if his child did something wrong. He’d most likely try to brush it off, but someone like Hilary would constantly have to remind him that he needs to stop making excuses and take some action. He sees so much of his former self in that child, so it’s hard for him to even be angry, since it’s all a mirror of his own antics. Despite the lack of discipline, he’s still an enthusiastic and engaged dad. His child with Hilary would be exactly like him. Hilary wishes she could impose some of her standards onto the child, but Tyson was apparently a lot more interesting to mimic.

MAX: Max is honestly such an enthusiastic and supportive parent. He tries to mimic everything he learned from his mother and father, but all at once, he tries to give his kid far more attention. He’s spent a majority of his life bouncing back between his mother and father due to their separate obligations and although he appreciated the freedom and life lessons that came with that journey, he’d rather have more family time or bonding moments. Like Hilary, he’s so invested in his child’s development and wants to be there for them every step of the way. He’s constantly taking his kid to amusement parks, playgrounds, festivals, and museums on weekends and weekdays when he’s not working. When they’re small, he tries to carry his kid everywhere. I can literally see him scooping up his child and having them pretend they can fly as he runs around the house. Someone like Hilary would be panicking at the sight of their small child so many feet off the ground, but Max knows what he’s doing. A child between Hilary and Max would be very adventurous, encouraging, empathetic, and enthusiastic. Both Hilary and Max are very responsible, but the child would pick up on Max’s energy a lot more.

RAY: Ray is an amazing parent. As mentioned in previous headcanons, he picks up his partners responsibilities and makes them his own. To him, child care is never a burden. Sometimes, he even wakes himself up just so he can check on his sleeping child, and if they’re awake he’ll do all he can to settle them back down. He’s a very vocal parent. He’ll talk all the time to his child from the very moment they’re born. Ray is also the type to literally document every amazing (and small) accomplishment made by his child. If they drew the letter “Y” on the sidewalk with chalk, he’ll celebrate their success in learning their letters. And if the child is just learning to walk, he’ll talk about every time they were able to take at least two steps without falling. He is so immersed in what his child can do and what they will become. Ray is the type that would literally dress up in a tutu if his kid said they wanted to learn ballet. Like, he’ll literally take up the same hobby alongside his kid, just so they feel confident to further pursue it. That’s how invested he is. If he’s parenting with Hilary, the child will become a very observant, multi-talented, critical, and responsible individual. The child will be interested in so many hobbies, they’ll be intuitive, and they’ll analyze everything and anything before they take action.

KAI: I don’t think Kai ever saw himself as a parent. For someone so focused on being champion, having a child would actually bring him down to earth. He’d have someone worth fighting for (aside from his partner) and he’d want to make sure his kid didn’t end up like he did. In other words, Kai is aware of how easily obsessed he gets with being the best or being in control. He’s destroyed himself so much and wouldn’t want his own child to pick up on the same habits. He somehow manages to be both stern and gentle with his child, employing discipline when necessary, but not without a reason. In other words, if he grounds his kid or takes something away, he explains what they did that was wrong and what they could do to fix the situation. He just wants his child to improve, so he’s constantly describing opportunities and actions that can make the child a better person. In regards to how active he is in his child’s life, he tries to make as many appearances as possible. He’ll volunteer to read to them at night and sometimes even falls asleep beside his child. He’ll try to take his kid to work with him as well, but doesn’t want the child to get wrapped up in business (it’s way too boring). If he has a child with Hilary, the kid will most likely pick up on his father’s serious and stoic attitude, only because the child wants to act like an adult at an early age and be as well respected as dad is. But the child learns to be giving from his mother, as well as patient and empathetic.
