Racing thoughts
Peter Steele X Reader
Warnings: anxiety, maybe ooc Peter, low self-esteem
Gender neutral reader
A small something for @cupidsl0ve since they asked :))
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
You anxiously twisted your hands together as your partner put your camera up, the large man before you patiently waiting on a chair opposite you. With you starting a small journalism carrier with your friend, you'd wanted to interview some famous people you could think of that you admired, one of them being the infamous Peter Steele, the green man as some call him.
You could see why people thought he looks like a vampire, because from up close, he totally does. Except fr the fact that you actually don't feel threatened by him. Even without that, you still couldn't help but be anxious, even though you tried to hide it. Being before some so famous, so imposing, it just made you nervous.
The start of the interview had went well, him answering your questions, you writing notes, both of you having some small interesting conversations as he tried to put some humour in. You, for some reason, you started to overthink a bit, anxious as you didn't want to look stupid infront of your idol.
'he probably have people interviewing him left and right that are way better than me...' you keep thinking to yourself as you took a break, sitting on a couch instead of the small sofa you were on as you interviewed him.
To your surprise, he came to sit beside you as you fidgeted with your papers, re-reading the questions as your thoughts raced.
"Are you okay?" You were a tiny bit startled when you heard his voice, especially so close. You looked up at him with big anxious eyes without realizing, making him frown beige you gave him a slight nod. He seemed to be hesitant for a bit as you looked at eachother. As you were about to tell him you're just thinking, you were surprised once again by his arm gently wrapping around your shoulders and his large hand giving your opposite shoulder a slight squeeze, almost as if he thinks you're made of glass or he'd hurt you. Your head turned so fast to him that he almost flinched, but stayed there, his hand now overing over your shoulder before he pulled it back, seemingly looking a bit guilty.
"sorry, I should have asked..." he apologized, sincere, thinking that he did something wrong.
You were quick to reassure him as you looked from him and to his hand that now rested in his lap.
"No, it's okay! Sorry, I just ... didn't think you'd do that... that was nice" you add, getting a bit shy as a small embarrassed blush comes to your face. His expression relaxes as he gives you a small smile, chuckling. "Thank you...." you say and give him a soft smile as he gives you one back, the corner of his eye wrinkling a bit as his green eyes shone.
"Anytime..." he winked, making you blush some more.
"would you..." he started, seemingly finding his words as he looked tot he ground with a frown. You turned to him slightly, curious as you give him your attention.
"Would you like to talk some more after the interview, out of the record?"

The nights had been particularly cold the past few days, snow falling from the sky lazily, and covering the city in an icy blanket. To add on top of it all the furnace within (Y/n)'s home was admittedly weak, only just barely keeping the home warm enough to prevent anyone from seeing their breath.
The guys had all come over either in the day to have a few beers, and just bullshit. Something they always did when they needed a good break from their work. But as the snow progressed throughout the day, everyone decided it would be safest to just stay at (Y/n)'s house until morning at least.
Everyone was gathered in the spacious living room, chatting away while some cheesy horror film played on the TV. Josh and Kenny sat beside eachother on the loveseat, while Johnny and Peter sat on the couch. (Y/n) on the other hand lay stretched out on the futon, three of her largest blankets encasing her to the point where you could only see her face, a sight that made each of the guys smile in endearment.
"Comfortable?" Peter asked with an amused grin, the sight making (Y/n) smile. "Very." She hummed as she snuggled deeper into the blankets. "I don't know how you're not being crushed under all that weight." Josh teased with a chuckle. "Hey I'm freezing I'd let an elephant lay on me right now if it meant I'd be warm." (Y/n) sassed playfully.
"Well we don't have an elephant, but we do have one Peter Steele." Kenny joked, prodding at Pete subtlety for his "secret" crush on (Y/n). "You'd crush me Petey?" She asked with great big puppy dog eyes. "Eh I wouldn't wanna hurt you." He responded casually, trying to ignore his racing heart. "But I'll let you lay on me so you can warm up." He added after sipping his drink, his hands shaking a tiny bit from his sudden nervousness.
"Please!" She flung her arms out from beneath the blankets, reaching out with grabby hands. The sight made the guys chuckle, and making it impossible for Peter to ever think about denying her. "Alright." He muttered before rising from his spot by Johnny.
(Y/n) peered up at him with almost bashful eyes, a blush dusting her cheeks when he hoisted her up into his arms, blankets and all. Quickly he made himself comfortable on the futon and pulled (Y/n) to lay against his chest.
"Thanks Pete." She mumbled shyly as he tugged at the sides of her blankets, smoothing them out so she would remain warm. "You're welcome sweetheart." He whispered as he bumped his nose against the side of her head, the sight of the two making the guys all grin.
"What the hell happened to your furnace anyways?" Kenny asked, breaking the endearing moment. "It's always sucked." (Y/n) shrugged casually, finding herself relaxing against Peter, his body heat warming her better than her blankets. "We'll take a look at it tomorrow, maybe we can fix it." Peter offered, the guys all nodding in agreement. "Thanks guys." (Y/n) beamed at her friend's, beyond grateful of them.

Exploring the Mystique of the Green Man: Nature's Enigmatic Guardian
Tumblr media
In the tapestry of folklore and mythology, one figure stands out as a symbol of nature's enduring power and mystery—the Green Man. Often depicted as a face covered in lush foliage, this enigmatic entity has captivated imaginations across cultures and centuries.
The origins of the Green Man are deeply rooted in ancient traditions, spanning various cultures and civilizations. From Celtic mythology to Hindu iconography, the Green Man takes on different forms, but the essence remains consistent—an embodiment of nature's vitality and the cyclical rhythm of life and death.
At its core, the Green Man is a symbol of renewal and rebirth. In many cultures, particularly in European folklore, the figure is associated with the changing seasons, representing the lush growth of spring and the inevitable decay of autumn. It serves as a reminder of the perpetual cycle of life, death, and regeneration that characterizes the natural world.
The Green Man is often portrayed as a guardian of the forest, embodying the spirit of the wilderness. This role as a protector of nature aligns with the increasing awareness of ecological issues in the modern world. The figure serves as a poignant reminder of humanity's interconnectedness with the environment and the need for responsible stewardship.
One fascinating aspect of the Green Man's legacy is its integration into architecture. Throughout history, intricate carvings and sculptures of the Green Man have adorned cathedrals, churches, and other structures. These representations not only showcase the artistic prowess of the craftsmen but also hint at a deeper connection between spirituality and nature.
In contemporary times, the Green Man continues to resonate with individuals seeking a connection to nature and a deeper understanding of life's cycles. The figure has found a place in literature, art, and even modern spirituality. Many environmental movements draw inspiration from the Green Man, emphasizing the importance of sustainable living and ecological harmony.
The Green Man remains a timeless and powerful symbol, weaving its way through the fabric of human culture and consciousness. As we navigate an ever-changing world, the wisdom encapsulated in this verdant entity invites us to reflect on our relationship with the environment, urging us to become stewards of the Earth and guardians of the intricate balance that sustains all life.

The horned-figure frequently identified as the Celtic god Cernunnos. A detail from an interior panel of the Gundestrup Cauldron. The cauldron was found in Denmark in 1891 CE but was produced in the Balkans. Gilded silver, likely 1st century BCE. The designs show gods and warriors inspired by the Celtic culture. (National Museum of Denmark, Copenhagen)
A panel from the Gundestrup Cauldron showing a seated god with stag’s antlers, often identified as Cernunnos, an ancient Celtic god who represented nature, flora and fauna, and fertility. There is also a stag and deer on the left side and on the right five strange animals and a small figure riding what may be a dolphin.

I keep finding more books while I unpack that I forgot about. Short stories are definitely a mood lately as I struggle to focus on a whole novel. I’m pushing myself, but sometimes it’s hard.
I’ll be starting with “The Faery Reel: Tales from the Twilight Realm” edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling.
