I love the "existential dread of discovering you, your family/friends, and anything else you consider 'life', were created only for entertainment of someone else" topic in media!
Though with WH, we're not sure what Eddie's behavior is after making his 'discovery', I think it'd be interesting if we saw him tread that territory, maybe even confront Wally about it?

NEW AU TIIIME ~
I think the theories of Jax are an interesting idea for an au... so here's my take! And @cherriisodapop 's cuz she is really helping me along with this
Some info ive scrambled up about him below cut !!
○ Jax is an NPC from a discontinued map dubbed "Chaos Land". He grew up there with his mom and dad, whom of which are a rubber bunny and plushy badger.
○ He's known he was an NPC since a young age. While exploring he found himself glitched beneath the map, finding the models of everyone he knows. Being a child however, he dismisses it, and grows up assuming it's normal. He hardly thought back on it anyway, much too busy with life above.
○ On an adventure where Kaufmo runs into Jax and they're glitched below the map, Kaufmo makes a comment about Jax's general disinterest in the models. Jax explains they don't matter, to which Kaufmo ends up explaining they do. This causes Jax to spiral, because now he knows the truth of the matter. He is not human, but Kaufmo and the others who came on the adventure are.
○ as an almost parallel of Pomni and Gummigoo's scene, Kaufmo suggests he come along to the circus with him. They make a plan to fake Jax's arrival as a human so Caine isn't aware that he is an NPC.
○ Kaufmo and Jax work together to fuck with coding and create a room for Jax at the very end of the hallway of dorms. It captures a very small segment of his home realm. Anyone human who nears it gets this overwhelming feeling of wrongness. He never lets anyone in.
○ he has some features left over from his home, one of which being the ability to pull small things out of thin air. Out of fear of suspicion, he pretends to pull these small objects from his overalls pocket. Another being how he does things in a very,, "wrong" way. Example being in the drawing how he's eating the banana (shame on him for that btw).... kaufmo teaches him ways to be more human, but old habits die hard.
○ he thrives on causing chaos in the circus, pranking and bullying others to get their reactions. He's curious, wanting to know how humans react to things that he finds funny or normal. Human nature and their reactions to just about anything intrigue his curiosity, though he's skilled at hiding this through snide comments and teasing.
○ after Kaufmo's abstraction, he finds himself frustrated. He believes he cannot truely experience what it is to mourn his only friend in the circus, and so he's more prone to unstable moods and outburts.
○ events are very much canon-compliant for both pilot and episode two! after that is still a WIP!
Thanks for reading >:]]

npc
so anyway developments in the au plot hehe
when the gang all try to leave the uncanny world pomni made, the key she programmed in to get them out doesn't work. they kinda glitch and no-clip as a result, all scattered throughout the bottom of the map---amidst all the assets! now remember this world was originally created by caine a really long time ago and pomni just reused it as a base? well the original setting and plot had to do with anthropomorphic animals. a certain rabbit character had been sculpted and programmed, but scrapped and forgotten by him as he made the world. but that npc still existed ! and so, forgotten and having nothing to do in the world, he had snuck into the circus when the adventure was done oooo
he was hiding there for a long time before he witnessed kinger appear in the circus. that gave him an idea: he'd fake being a human coming in and just hope for the best. so he did, and caine, having forgotten all about him, just kinda accepted it and called him jax! and jax has been hiding this ever since :) until everyone, underneath the map, stumbled right across his model :))))
everyone is very disturbed and things will not go well, but for now, everyone's agreeing to go back to the circus and pretend nothing happened hahaha

I just wanna confirm, does anyone remember when the first time the word "NPC" was brought up in TADC?
... ok, just double-checking. Carry on.

Jax didn't change. At all. He is still the same arsehole from the first time we saw him.
From what I remember; he was dismissive of Ragatha, manipulated an emotionally vulnerable Kinger, pushed Gangle to her potential death and didn't give two fucks that Kaufmo died of dismay. All in episode 1
What changed, is that the audience saw what happens we Jax doesn't get his way.
Jax doesn't just seem "disappointed" here. He seems seething, like a child, and we get a good wide close up of his face just to make it's clear he's absolutely not happy in any way.
Episode 2 seems to be setting up how different people react to being in a seemingly inescapable scenario, a la time loop nihilism.
You have Pomni and Ragatha who try to reach out to others, trying to build a supportive collective. There's Kinger and Gangle, who are stuck in survival mode and need that support assistance. Not everyone is in the mental position to help out as they want to be. With enough time and reassurance, Gangle may be able to break out of her insecurities. Kinger... I'm saying this as someone who relates to Kinger the most out of the cast: I think my king is stuck with his chronic anxiety and neurodivergencies. Someone give him a Lexam and Intuitive. So with Jax...
Jax is playing a video game. To him, this is just Undertale with multiplayer and he wants to see what happens on the genocide route. He's so under stimulated for meaning that he wants to fuck around and find out. If you want to find out what happens in a boring co-op game, what's funnier? Jumping into the enemy pit yourself, or getting your buddy to jump in instead. He may not even see the main cast as other players. What separates Gumigoo from Ragatha? The princess? The goop monsters? ... Kaufmo? Jax just might have lost his sense of humanity in everything but himself. Cogito ergo sum. I think Jax is meant to be a criticism of people who unironically think everyone is varying degrees of those NPC roleplay videos.
So yeah, I never saw Jax as Bugs Bunny. He was always a toxic League of Legends player stuck in VR coop game to me. We're just thankfully spared of his gamer words. Maybe when we see more of Zooble, we'll see someone stand up to him. No promises.
