sending laser beams to my professor with my mind. kenneth you said midterm grades would b up by this afternoon. it is officially TONIGHT and guess what? kenneth i would love to not be clenching my teeth in my sleep tonight. kenneth i will be sending you a bill in the mail. yes i know its probably a TAs responsibility but i blame you personally. i hate school

#i dont im having a lot of fun (genuinely) but it is often pretty stressful #did find out there are a few folks adjacent to my program doing zoonoses & climate change research so im very excited to chat w them next w #possibly directing my thesis towards one health. social epi gradually becoming less interesting #plus i think my strengths do lie in applying epi to biological concepts so. one health works there #my brain continually trying to get back to lyme disease :( sometimes i really do miss the east coast tbh!#not lying actually i think the number one thing i miss is the amt of vector borne disease research LMFAO #i do unfortunately kind of have a crush on a classmate so that's fine but whatever. grad school. men are nice to me and i lose my mind ig #need to go make out w a hot trans person i think that would solve my problems rn #but also it's nice to be so excited about someone deciding to sit next to me in every class :)#like wow how isolated have i been the last 3 years to be so delighted by like. active signs i have Officially Made Friends.#even if he does live like a block away from my dad and jokes every goddamn day like 'so i saw your dad yesterday' no you DIDNT shut UP #idk yesterday he sat right next to me in a class he usually sits w other people in and it sort of sent my brain off the edge and now im jus #yeah. sitting with this one. it's fine like it's normal. but wowie i do think it's my first time having a Big Ol Crush since (redacted)#a little scary for my animal brain i think but it's okay!#im 25 in like 3 ish weeks and i still get embarrassed about this stuff somehow? stupid.#he's just really nice and always really fun to talk to! i think i had to officially Sit With Myself today bc epi is doing a holiday party #and there's a baking contest and we were talking abt it in class and i was indecisive abt whether i want to participate #and he like fully cut me off and was like oh you should bake something so i can have some :)#and. well fuck now i have to lmao. #meg talks #sunday is my birthday hehe… i want to bake myself some kind of fun dessert but idk what #might go out for karaoke at some point also but probably not until after the holidays are over #but i wanna do it at this place that does private karaoke rooms rather than at like a karaoke bar bc it’s safer for me that way #less ppl to be exposed to #but the downside is their biggest room still only fits like 5-8 ppl so it’s a bummer bc i had to miss the big work xmas party #where EVERYONE was together singing karaoke #sad penaus weanus. well maybe i’ll try to make regular karaoke nights a thing so everybody gets a chance to come once in a while #anyway for my bday proper im just gonna make a big pot of my fav soup and some fun thing to bake #throw on a ghibli marathon or smth #and my work friends can pop in and out if/as they like #a few of them already do come over p regularly whenever im cooking smth so :] it’ll be nice #anyway. lord. it’s 4 am why am i awake.

#this year is just the weirdest christmas vibe i've ever had goning on #i have all the stuff for a hallmark-y christmas: it's cold for once on christmas eve! i have a kitchen and a bare tree #but family is overworked and stressed and and i'm sick and worn out from retail so no visiting or sharing baking #so no reason to bake or decorate - even though i fully have the ability! the things are sitting out i am looking at them #but i just want to bury in the bed and read sad or schmoopy fanfic instead #i just can't get in the mood and it's so disappointing bc i remember loving having like #christmas music on and singing along and baking and i never could do much in my apartment bc of it being so small etc #and now i have a full big kitchen counter and could have the tree i always wanted and play christmas cartoons loudly #and it wouldn't bother anyone and there's lights up in the neighborhood i could go see but #i'm just so exhausted and generally discouraged and it's the MOST first world of situations but i may never get #another chance to have a christmas like this and who knows where/how i'll be next year ...#maybe it's really just the not being able to bake - like i don't even really feel like it but i still get sudden impulses #and it's like nope no family to cart tins of cookies to - can't take them or cake to work bc don't want to risk people getting sick #tempted to just force myself into christmas spirit but then the apathy just rolls back over me #i'm so worried about my bil and sister who are stressed bc if medication shortages #and all y'all who are suffering power outages and winter weather onslaught and stressful weekend plan changes #and seasonal overwork and all that entails i'm worried for you also and wishing for everything to be better and go well for you #it just feels like everyone's having an anxious exhsusting holiday season this year and i would like so much better for us #than just 'making it through'#ugh now i'm making myself sappy and teary again #whatever - anybody bothering to read this just know i wish you warmth happiness and joy however they may come to you #hug your loved ones if you can love on your pets eat something for a treat and look at some pretty lights this evening #i maybe am gonna light some candles and put on music and see if my sis wants to call or facetime later #but first my rx are finally filled so i have to go fetch them #happy holidays whoever reads this - mutuals i love you and wish you the best may your evening be merry and bright #or at least warm!

i haven’t spent christmas with anyone else in so long, i haven’t spent christmas morning with anyone else in SO long and i don’t think i’ve ever been in charge of christmas breakfast before! cinnamon rolls, cardamom buns, stuffed brioche french toast, blueberry pancakes, too many options! much to think about

#YES i am thinking about breakfast days ahead of time. this is my me time #i’m leaning toward the cinnamon rolls bc i can prep them ahead and then just pop them in the oven and the whole place will smell so lovely #but i also kinda wanna do the french toast just bc i’ve never made brioche before lmao#i’m also planning to make sugar cookies tomorrow #i’ve got two doughs in progress #and some lovely ginger persimmon muffins but not particularly for christmas just because!#but i also don’t know if Bookstore’s gonna bring anything or want to make anything here bc they bake too!#it seems weird to let someone i’ve known for such a short time be part of such a big holiday but #it doesn’t FEEL weird #this year has been so stressful and it’s so cold out and i just want to be cozy and warm and happy and #it’s very easy to feel that way with them

"Uwah?!" Yuta nearly jumped in his seat from the sound of Kaito flying the door open while shouting his name like that!! "Y-Yes, yes!? It must be a really good holiday if you're that excited about i..."

And then he hears the name of said holiday, now knowing why he's got That smile on his face! "............" Fiercly ignoring the cackling Shinigami in his ear, he gives Kaito a Look as he crosses his arms with a firm: "No. Ugh, I knew it was going to be something ridiculous the moment you came in with that smile on your face! G-God, I swear I'm this close to getting a legal name change!!"

("You say that as if it was actually your name in the first place, Master. Now c'monnn, stop being such a stick in the mud! Go bake yourself with Himbomota and Twin Master!! Go, go, go!!")

"H-Huh?!" Before he can respond, Yuta's hand is suddenly gripping Kaito's?! ("M-My hand just moved on its own... Shinigami, did you do that?! H-Hey!!") But he of course can't outwardly say all this in front of Kaito. With a defeated sigh, he doesn't even bother moving his hand away the moment he regains control of it. He knows that he's not getting out of this, no matter what....
