#the discourse is honestly exhausting

i think socialization varies too much to be determined between male/female only. i think "male socialization" and "female socialization" are reductive terms that btw don't come anywhere near explaining how the human psyche works. different times raise girls differently. different places raise boys differently. within the same region different cultures raise girls differently. within the same culture different families raise boys differently. like it varies so much that it's a meaningless term at this point. it's the afab/amab thing all over again

Hate to sound like a boomer, but there really is something to going outside and EXPERIENCING life.
To gain perspective on the world and realize that hey, we don’t need to send death threats over a fictional ship. The world is going to continue to turn regardless of the discourse around characters and media.
Like, there are THOUSANDS of people being murdered in conflicts all over the globe and you have audacity to to tell naysayers to kys over two people kissing or interpretations of media?
This is how they get us. How they make us so disillusioned by superficial problems to make us ignorant to LIFE.

Tedbecca stans that shit all over Sambecca do understand that the “but she’s his boss!1!!” argument is made completely redundant by the fact that she is also Ted’s boss, right...?

can I ask what characters you write for/rules?
of course sweetie!! :3c so i'm not a requests blog - i just write for fun, and for whichever character i'm fixating on at the moment!! i bounce around quite a bit, and often revisit other characters to write for!! there's no predicting who i'll write for - who knows where the autism will take me next 😂💖 however!! here is a list of my favourite characters, and my writing masterlist, where you can see who i've written for before!! i'm a big fan of strange and silly villains, as you can see 😉 characters i've really enjoyed writing for in the past include Mad Mod, 'Big' Jack Horner, Wally Darling, and Professor Zündapp! as i'm guessing this in response to my recent Jervis Tetch x Reader, i'd love to write some more for him 🙈💖 i'll answer an ask if i find it intriguing, or something i feel i can do justice to - that's all 🙏 i don't have any particular rules for writing...if something makes me uncomfortable, i just won't answer it, or will let the requester know it's not something i'd like to answer. but i'm not here to yuck your yum!! i enjoy writing for villainous, theatrical, obsessive characters the most, and prefer to write romantic/suggestive (occasionally NSFW) ideas 💖

By this point of my life I don't give a fuck if F2 was good or not like the discourse was so annoying and bitter and miserable that tbh it rotten my brain.

I don't tend to post stuff like this in my blog, but I need to get this off my chest.
Please stop using your fandom content to spread opinions.
Of course, as an author, you are entitled to produce whatever kind of content you want. And as a person you're also bound to have opinions, probably some I or anyone might differ with, and that's human and valid and completely fine! Nobody is asking you to produce a specific type of content that makes you uncomfortable, or simply that you don't enjoy, even if it's the type of content 99% of the community enjoys.
But please, don't make content with the intention of shitting on other works you don't like. Don't use your content-making platform to lecture people on what they should consume or not. It's specially rude to other authors who spend their precious real life time to make the stuff you're criticizing, just because you don't personally agree with what's being written. You don't have to enjoy it, but at the very least respect the hustle, man...
If you want a discourse blog, that's fine! If you want to have a content AND discourse blog, that's also absolutely perfect. But most people don't want to read fanfics or silly headcanons about their blorbo or their fav ship or whatever, only to be lectured in stuff they didn't even care about in the first place. Fandom is a safe place for many and using that as a tool to get your opinion or point across is exhausting and, in my eyes, specially when used to indirectly shit on other author's work, plain disrespectful.

Im not going to articulate this super well, but being suspicious of men and speaking about how men do have privilege in society, and speaking to the existence of he patriarchy and misogyny is not in itself a dog whistle for being a terf. Criticizing makeup is not inherently a dog whistle for terfs. Ceding this to t/rfs benefits no one, and this is NOT how u spot a t/rf - these are issues that effect trans people just as much as cis people, if not more in many ways.
Unfortunately crypto t/rfs are be hard to spot, and I don’t think there’s really one way to 100% spot a terf who’s really hell bent on hiding that fact—look at the otherblogs that get recommended on OPs blog, look at who’s in OPs notes most frequently—that’s much more reliable than thinking someone’s a t/rf bc they talk about male privilege or even vent about how women & trans people are treated by men. For example I recently found out that M/xine Harlow is a cryptot/erf, and yeah it took a bit of research! I’m anxious to see people be so eager to defend men as a group right now, and for that to be the ultimate signifier of a t/rf , when that confusion is part of what makes terfs’ brand of fascism so insidious in queer circles.

i feel like the one of the main issues with the brother thing is that all this “info” we got came from a malicious leaked source who’s main goal was to take the fun out of it for everyone & people are letting it work on them
I mean, sure, but in my experience, large portions of this fandom do not need any help taking all the fun out things. In fact, that seems to be their main goal at every turn. So, like, yeah, that sucks if the source was malicious and trying to fuck with everyone, but also people need to learn to take this stuff with a grain of salt and stop letting themselves get so worked up over it. Or at least stop spreading their misery to those who are unbothered and just enjoying themselves.

one last thought before i log off possibly forever given how melodramatic i feel but like. it is kind of frustrating to see people constantly write off the pro/anti ship thing as frivolous fandom discourse like yeah i wish it was frivolous fandom discourse but when one side is proudly sending suicide and death threats and advocating for censorship in a time where queer people have to fight for the right to talk about our goddamn identities then like,, idk! maybe it’s worth a little more concern!

I’ve got to admit, I hate how sometimes it’s tone policing of me, but I really can’t help genuinely still thinking that generally, one should be polite to people you’re talking to online who haven’t insulted you or done something very obviously deliberately inflammatory, and that even then it’s worth trying to be as civil as you feel capable of. Part of me thinks it’s important to keep in mind that generally speaking, most people are normal people doing their best to go through life and you should try to talk to them as you’d like to be talked to, because most people aren’t trying to go out of their way to hurt others.
Like, not to say that you have to be nice to everyone all the time, or that you’ll never be snide accidentally or get snappy sometimes, but generally speaking I still operate under the belief that the rules of polite society apply to the internet as well when it comes to etiquette.
(And really, by etiquette I mainly mean the bare minimum of not openly insulting others without provocation)
And honestly, it’s incredibly weird to me how much this puts me at odds with so much of the internet :/ like, i’ve spent years learning all this social ettiquete bullshit and suddenly it no longer applies. it makes me feel lost, that I’ve been taught a mode of communication that makes me out of place in an online world.
Like, intellectually I can understand the vastness of the internet and how many fucking lunatics there are on it makes it hard to be nice to everybody, and that there are people you shouldn’t have to be nice to, but after having it impressed on me so much constantly as a child and growing up that you have a duty to be polite and civil with others, I am genuinely unable to turn that mode of thinking off, that you should try to be polite and civil to people, and the only caveat I’ve managed to feel is that you don’t have to be nice to people who insult you. But if you’ve only just now talked to that person and it’s your first interaction? I do genuinely feel that it’s best to be civil with people.
