Sometimes Granada Holmes is unintentionally so funny.
Holmes will be like “yeah Professor Moriarty was a tough battle but I’m like soooo good at bartitsu.” and then it cuts to him just picking Moriarty up and throwing him.
Yeah, my dude, this really looks like a specialized Japanese fighting style. You’re going to throw your damn back out like that.
I made it 14 pages into my Empty House reread before I had to grab my tablet and draw something.

Watson is sitting in a chair and looking up at Holmes with surprise, clasping Holmes right hand in his, while grabbing Holmes arm with his left hand. I think of myself as a practical woman. I am proud to say that I have always been able to manage my household in the most efficient manner, purchasing only what is of good quality without requiring any unnecessary expenses. I have one possession, however, that is an exception to that rule. This is the story of how not only one but two of my tenants returned to Baker Street, and how I came to own one of London’s finest tea services as a result.
Mr Holmes returns. Dr Watson leaves. Mrs Hudson realises that London’s greatest detective might require a little assistance with winning the good doctor back.

I just got a copy of the Granada Holmes boxed set restored from the original negatives and lemme tell you, the picture quality is gorgeous.
These screenshots via VLC of The Empty House do not do it justice. On a television? OMG. Beautiful. Color balance? Sublime. So many details and texture and depth come to life.
“So it was, my dear Watson, that at two o'clock to-day I found myself in my old arm-chair in my own old room, and only wishing that I could have seen my old friend Watson in the other chair which he has so often adorned.”
THIS LINE TURNS ME INTO MUSH. Sure he’s “home” but he’s not home.
“Wait a moment,” said he. “Are you sure that you are really fit to discuss things? I have given you a serious shock by my unnecessarily dramatic reappearance.”
You know it’s bad when even the queen of drama, Sherlock Holmes, calls it unnecessarily dramatic. Holmes was lucky that Watson merely fainted
