For example, when you are done taking photos in the booth, you will go out to draw, write, or add stickers on the chosen pictures before getting them from the machine. I personally think they are more interesting than just normal photo booths so yuh.

POV: Walking past a photo booth with One Piece characters during a date and you want to take a picture with them.

Luffy

He has no idea what a photo booth is but is eager to try

“What IS a photo booth?” “Whattt???? You mean this little box can take photos of us?” “Coooool!!!”

Unable to sit still once you enter the stall, however. He just keeps complaining about how small it is.

“No Luffy, please! It will be really quick. Here…” You click the Start button and the rubber boy is taken aback by the sudden flash

He then quickly finds that the photo booth is pretty interesting once he gets to see the first pictures (he is surprised!)

Actually, too interesting, and you guys end up taking more pictures than necessary.

He loves doing the weird face! Making cute gestures! Choosing the weirdest filter and laughing cheerfully at each of them.

You have to stop him when both of you run out of money, and he looks kinda sad, pouting as you drag him out of the booth.

Luffy only cheers up when you promise to come back here soon, and he is energetic again when you tell him he can decorate the pictures before getting them.

Oh, look at how he draws! He keeps adding too many stickers on the photos that you can’t make out of your face anymore.

But watching him, with his gleaming eyes, his wide smile, and the way his nose crinkle when he focuses on adding the right stickers to the right place, you feel your heart fill with joy. 

Lovely date! The photo booth is rated 10/10<3

Zoro

He is suspicious!

That place looks small, he says. Too narrow to draw a sword, he says

“No Zoro!!!!” You roll your eyes, speechless, “There is no enemy there. Just come, idiot.”

First, he feels uncomfortable.

Too small, he repeats. But he just sits still, tensed, maybe waiting for a sight of the delusional attack so that he can protect you in time

His facial expression is almost boring throughout the process. His glare is so intense that all the cute pinky lovely filter cannot hide the seriousness in his face (the opposite is somewhat amusing, though:’) )

You have to make him smile for the last shot. Placing your fingers in the corners of his mouth, you pull his lips upward, and behold! The world's most menacing smile EVER!!!

Please don’t laugh at Zoro he is already pissed off😭😭😭

You think he might not like the photo booth idea very much, but later, you will find him discreetly looking at the photos you two took together, and this time, with a gentle gaze in his eyes and a tender smile tucks on the corner of his lips;)

Pretty great overall, and super fun to see grumpy Zoro with blink-blink mascara so 9/10

Nami

“Excuse me? Are you saying that we have to PAY for the photos?” “How much? NO WAY!” “This machine won’t have my money thank you goodbye!”

She agrees to get into the photo booth with you at last, after making a deal that you will clean the room for the next 3 months.

Super picky about the filters and the effects. “Ugh no no no! This one makes my eyes look like they are bulging out.” “Omg, those freckles are surreal let’s get them!” “Adjust the light please.”

She intends to take only one photo first but ends up getting obsessed, and now she is the one who forces you to take several pictures in a row.

Direct you on how to pose, how to smile, the right angle to turn your head, the right moment to open your eyes, etc

Her handwriting on the pictures is beautiful, and you love the way she draws little hearts at every corner of the photos.

Nami is pretty satisfied at the end of the day, and when you clean her room for the next 3 months, you find the photos hanging proudly in her drawer.

A little bit tired (including cleaning the room afterward) but Nami looks hella fine in those pictures so still a 10/10

Usopp

He is surprisingly very normal about this all (compare to his nakamas)

Will be the one to drag you into the photo booth first, and help you find the most adorable (and weirdest) filters

He loves making funny faces just like Luffy. Weird poses. Even weirder filters. And cute gestures! Biggest smiles! Hands on cheeks! Etc etc

His doodles are super cute when he draws them on the pictures, and he will not-so-discreetly add heart stickers here and there. The timid laugh when he spots you looking over his shoulder melts your very heart.

 Usopp is just SO cute!!!!

He hangs the pictures on the nightstand to look at them before going to sleep. Little does he know you do so too!

Fun, cute, and warm; that how it is a 10/10 

Sanji

HE LOVES THE IDEA!!!

Actually, he loves whatever you suggest doing, because everything sounds exciting doing with you

He let you choose the filters and the effects but will be the one who prompts you to do different poses.

“Hey, y/n let's form a heart together! Put your hand in shape like this…that’s right!” “Pinch, pinch my cheeks!!!” “How about doing the upside-down peace sign next” “Ohhh, I know, let’s…”

He is likely the one to write silly, cheesy but lovely quotes on the pictures, and you will draw a big big heart between your two

Sanji looks at the pictures lovingly before having them secured in his wallet. He wants to keep the moment close to his heart. And you know he will keep them there forever, watching them any time he thinks about you.

“But you know, y/n, I think the unfiltered version of yourself is still the cutest.” *wink and a kiss on the cheeks*

Don’t say a word I know you are already drowning in his sweetness. 100/10

Robin

Giggles and pats your head when you point at the photo booth excitedly.

She looks stunning and effortlessly beautiful that filter is nothing compared to her beauty.

When the pictures are out, you think they are literally glowing with Robin smiling in there.

But then you recognize that she is smiling at you. She never looks at the camera once, she only has her eyes on you all the time. And oh that tender look of hers!!!

Robin will keep the photos in her diary, with a small note written next to them: “With my angle.”

He says the normal photo booth is too ordinary, so no, Franky will invent a suuuper photo booth just - for - you!!!

You can capture the movement when taking pictures, and the printed photos can move just like gifs! Not only that, the photos will play a song if you touch Franky’s nose in there(???)

The photo booth even provides you with fast food and snack while taking pictures

There is no need to put money in, just say SUUUPPERR as the password to turn it on!!!

The whole crew is excited and fights for their turn to try Franky’s new photo booth

But there is a special effect just for you and Franky that no one knows. Whenever you take a picture, there will be a big heart sparkling right above your head, and Frankly will look at you, proudly, waiting for praise.

You will praise him, of course, with lots of kisses and hugs, because the things he does for you are just super…just like himself!!!

my thoughts on the story and worldbuilding:

this game absolutely blew me away with the level of detail and intricacies- i've never been so immersed in a game before. it really felt like i was brought into the story right next to the characters, and everything felt real and tangible in so many ways. outworld felt like a real, tangible place i could visit if i wanted to, thanks to the careful additions and placement of every last piece of detail, down to the costumes and cultures and worlds.

i loved the political world-building we got throughout the whole thing, down to the cultures, the peoples, their biases, their afflictions. the virus, the conflicts behind the scenes, everything- it was so fucking cool.

so many of the twists i did NOT see coming, i think because of the incredibly careful world-building- we never got clear, obvious exposition. it all came through the story itself, the beats and events, and that was sosososo fucking cool. i., ksdjgfkajshgef

the gameplay:

the story and the gameplay just blend/lead right into each other seamlessly, and it's so. LK:JEFG HLQW$UG ITS SO FUCKING COOL.

the fact that all the characters connected to sindel had similar movesets and animations, showing how they clearly learned from each other, there's a clear connection there.

there was also some connection i didn't quite understand between a bunch of characters who had this one move where they. barf blood on your face?? which was baffling but also, despite me not fulling understanding WHAT connection there is, i know there is one, which is what's important.

there are a LOT of instances of this in the game, where characters with connections to each other will show it in how they fight. it's so fucking cool to me and such. KLJG FLQ FKLJGQW ITS SO COOOOOL KJGF ARGGGHHGHG

My PSP Is So Overpowered >:]

It's insane how vast the PSP modding scene is. Like, to an extent I already knew it was pretty in depth, it's one of the most heavily modded consoles ever made and is generally considered one of the best pieces of hardware ever made for emulation but like, it's way deeper than I even expected. You can practically turn a PSP into an unrecognizable system on the software side, or even probably the hardware side if you know console hard-modding, but I don't, and I don't really care enough to learn, modding hardware isn't going to give me Umineko Background!

The closest thing to hard modding I'd probably ever do would be like, making a custom shell, but I wouldn't consider that the same thing since it doesn't affect the internal function of the system, and it's also pretty simple.

So far modding this thing has been really simple too, like, I'm dumb, like really really really dumb, and the only console modding I've ever done was some minor Wii U modding like, 3 years ago, but that was extremely minor and was also 3 years ago. But the PSP has some really good guides online and the process itself pretty much just comes down to transferring files onto the memory card and occasionally (that took 3 attempts to spell that correctly and I do this every time I type occasionally, it is an impossible word for me to speel like I said I am very idiot) making a couple of new folders and .txt files.

For now I'm sticking to some pretty entry-level modding, mostly just aesthetic stuff like custom themes (I want that fucking Umineko theme goddammit) and better sorting for the home screen, along with loading a few emulators mostly just to test them out (althooo I may end up actually using this in the long run as my main way to play GBA games cuz like, handheld :) and maybe Game Gear (I LOVE SONIC BLAST!!! I FUCKING LOVE SONIC BLAST!!!!! you could genuinely not pay me any amount of money to ever play that game again. You could however give me a coooool freaking Sonic factoid in exchange for my service on the front lines of Sonic Blast) also possibly the Wonderswan). Depending on how much my neurons activate by the time I'm completely done with my planned modding, I may dive deeper into some more complex stuff, not really sure what exactly I would want to do that's more complex but like, I'm sure there's something I'd find interesting, it's a super deep area there's gotta be some freak shit in there.

BUT that's for later, for now, I am far too absorbed in looking at all the existing custom themes available for download that I can add to MY personal Sony Playstation Portable, there's so many good ones. If it's not super difficult I may also attempt making one myself too, I love making custom UI's and stuff for things I use I love custom Zeedmillenniummon mouse cursor.

So far these are some of my favourites, obviously there's the Umineko one earlier and I just realized I accidentally typed "favourites" instead of "favorites" British typo I'm not fixing it it's funny but there's a lot of outher good ones chew:

I have still not watched anything beyond the first episode of Monogatari and considering how long it is and since it's still getting new parts, if I ever do it will likely not be soon. But I like the way the show looks! And I think a lot of the character designs are nice so like even though it would make me a fake fan, I'd maybe include this one in the routation.

I have also not watched the Clannad anime, and by extension After Story, so this would also go into the Fake Fan category, but I did read a bit of the common route of the VN a long time ago, didn't get anywhere near the end though so still a fake fan. But I just really like the way this one looks, I think the yellow silhouette over the pink clouds in the background looks really nice, the plain font text in the center does kinda take away a bit of the charm, but it's not too bad.

No I will not download the Elfen Lied one, moving on.

Ah yes, my Microusoft Xbox 360 Portable... This one's just a fun meme but like, it's kinda funny, and the UI is like actually different and kinda creative so like, not bad for a lying, cheating, faker console.

Xu Fengnian is the first born son of the fearsome warlord Xu Xiao, the Duke of Beiliang- and probably the biggest hunk of scum in the whole empire. despite his father being a great martial artist and warlord, Xu Fengnian can’t wield a sword to save his life, he’s shameless, he's lazy, he’s an all-round playboy- he’s a good for nothing.

I love this drama so much- despite handling pretty serious situations that are matter of life and death, it’s so so so funny and chaotic. Sword Snow Stride is a drama which follows Xu Fengnian’s growth from a reluctant though highly intelligent heir of the duchy Beiliang to it’s capable, cunning and yes, shameless, future ruler. The writing of the show is so clever, and plot twists and political mechanisms are incredibly entertaining to watch.

I don't think I have ever laughed so much watching a drama before- this drama, despite everything, is a comedy show. Every moment in this drama can feature in a fan made “on crack” video without fail.

and I am exaggerating- just a little. It’s wuxia and also a ‘no-class-boundaries!’ kind of drama which I think is pretty snazzy of the scriptwriter. Xu Fengnian and the Beiliang’s ideology disregards snobs, rejects higher power and social norms- which is very cool of them and I support that dude.

Like, it has everything- plot? You got it. Really cool characters? You got it. Humour? You got it. An actual message? You got that too.

From the very beginning this show opened with a bang- the way it introduced everything was super super cool and engaging and so funny too. 

I felt really sad that I couldn’t give this show a full 10/10 on plot ( tbh no one can ever give any drama’s plot a perfect score) bcs there were some points where the plot fell through. Especially towards the last few episodes where Fengnian was saved one too many times and done so many favours in the name of his mother it began to feel a little- just no.

Nevertheless the rest of the logic was all in one piece, all the politics and all the scheming and the logic-ing of the characters was SO CLEVER. It was so so so fun to watch- it was fantastic. I can’t express how much I dig the way the things were revealed in this show. It had you thinking the whole time and I personally felt I learnt quite a bit from the show and Fengnian- as a person.

GUYS. EVERYONE IN THIS DRAMA-

AMAZING, SHOWSTOPPING, SPECTACULAR, NEVER THE SAME- 

Just. Incredible. They were all so fleshed out with such a strong sense of personality and identity. I love them all- that's all I can ever say or I will be here for ages.

AND THE WOMEN IN THIS DRAMA- LIKE- OMG-

they're so coooool.

I do have one complaint though, and it is that while drama has so many wonderful warrior women, most are not given any real power of their own. Their skills and their abilities ultimately serve to further Xu Fengnian’s progress and story. If not Xu Fengnian, then it’s Xu Xiao. Yes I know it’s a male lead story, yes I know we’re in ancient China, but perhaps we could have some acknowledgment that women’s contribution is often disregarded, or maybe a fun morally grey woman who just also wants to fight society and change her life?

And especially Jiang Ni (who is great btw), who really just exists to be Xu Fengnian’s love interest despite her very important background and I just think it's really sad. 

But besides this, the characters here-

All the actors were fantastic. I don’t think there was anyone who really overdid their character or anything- they were all so good. The cast’s energy throughout the drama was simple and naturalistic. My absolute favourite has to be the actor who played Xu Fengnian’s dad Xu Xiao- he was so good and so hilarious.

I really loved Zhang Rouyun (Xu Fengnian) acting as well, I really liked his performance at the start. He doesn’t place beauty and grace at the forefront of his acting and didn’t care if he looked less than perfect which I appreciate a lot after the slew of perfect beauty you get in xianxia dramas. Though he does have his ‘I’m super cool and majestic’ moments where he does try to think about how he looks on camera, the vibe I got from him was very authentic.

I LOVE THE PRODUCTION. I love the filter, I love the music- which is so... idk how to describe it. It perfectly encapsulates the vibe of snowy mountains, bamboo and swords and wind- The whole vibe is so calm and natural, it really makes you face the power and vastness of nature, the small, no-music fengshui montages that are scattered throughout the drama are so calming as well. 

But. The fight scenes... are very choppy. They’re not especially smooth- with an exception of Nangong Pushe, of course. Lots of them are literally people just standing there and raising their hands and spitting blood, like, T-T why. You are a wuxia drama; kindly use those weapons T-T. But oh well. At least they look cool when they stand there and raise their hands. 

And can we talk about Xu Fengnian’s lil’ catfish stands? WHAT WERE THE COSTUME DESIGNERS THINKING?

my thoughts on Iki Island:

(spoilers under the cut)

I really loved this DLC! I had nothing but high hopes for this after playing the base game last year (and three more times after that), and Sucker Punch didn’t disappoint. The whole time playing it I felt like it was only adding to my love of the characters and the stories they set up in the base game, and then all the new quests and mechanics added a lot of fresh fun on top of that! 

So where to even begin. 

The opening scene was super cool and a neat way to introduce the new shaman enemies. And despite Yuna only actually being in one scene, it was a delight to see her again. Though since I’m playing the DLC after finishing everything, I don't love the continuity of Yuna not accompanying him, but gameplay wise I knew that wasn’t going to happen anyway, but I just love when she’s with us <3

Went for my horse straight away and I was THRILLED to see that Kaze can now kill enemies and the new charge mechanic was way more fun than I was expecting and I was having too much fun with that. After Nobu, I didn’t expect to get attached the Kaze all that much (even if he continued on into a later game) but I was quickly proved wrong with this because I now kind of separate Nobu as the more gentler of the two, that was always there for me, and while Kaze is too, I like imagining Kaze is a lot younger and his aggressive personality in this really sold that and I like that it probably eases Jin’s worries a bit to see his new horse being able to fend off attacks a bit better. Plus, with his new armor, he’s even safer <3 Really fell more in love with Kaze in this, which I didn’t expect.

Met The Eagle next and had that whole encounter. I love how right away if you pay attention, you know Yuna isn’t Yuna because she’s never once addressed Jin as ‘my lord.’ I think the only time she said it was when she was talking to both him and Shimura at the lighthouse, and it wasn’t because she wanted to. But still, even knowing something was wrong, it’s cute that Jin’s mind went to her as a safe place who he’d have no problem entrusting stories and secrets to, which was obviously the Eagle’s goal. And hearing her voice warp into the Eagle’s was creepyyyy and so good <3  (my Yuna loving ass was sad to realize that was most likely the last time we’d see her, but that’s okay) That next part of the hallucination really got you feeling for Jin, and I couldn’t help but be frustrated that he’s only a child, how was he supposed to help?!?!? 

So I ignored Tenzo’s next mission and explored and pretty much completed the entire island. I got jump scared WAY too many times by her taunts, but I loved how that just added to the direness of the situation. I was obsessed with finding all the hallucinations and it just kept breaking my heart how Jin has all of this pent up guilt/heartache--with Ryuzo (he had so many I found), his father, his uncle, the Khan, Nobu :(, Masako, etc. I honestly had expected to find one regarding Taka and I’m a bit sad that I didn’t. Add those to the memories of his father and the ever-present taunting, I was going through it with Jin <3 At least you can pet the animals for him <3 The little smile he’d get every time was worth it. And the flute playing mechanic was really neat!

The first memory I got was their chat before Kazumasa’s death and honestly that got me all teary because Jin wanted so badly to hear him say he accepted him as his son, but deep down, would he have felt it? And my heart just breaks so much for Jin because as I kept going through the memories, I kept thinking how well 1) his dad sucks, but 2) both father figures kept wanting Jin to be somebody else. And it hurts that he was closer to Shimura’s way of thinking and how we even see that one time that Shimura corrects Jin, that his recitation of what honor means were his father’s words, and gets Jin to say that kindness is what honor means to him and wow. <3 <3 <3 But it hurts knowing their fate too <3 That while Shimura was more of a father to Jin than Kazumasa was, eventually, he couldn’t accept what Jin was doing in their way. Though it does hurt and make you wonder if Shimura was frightened that Jin was turning into his dad...I had that thought many times. (I loved seeing Adachi so much though omg <3 <3 <3) It was very interesting how the song Jin ends up playing for his father at the end of the memories is the ‘Jin Sakai’ theme. And then how that in turn, morphs into ‘The Way of the Ghost’ later on when in the final battle. 

It hurts that Jin had Chiyoko in his life for such a short time. I’m glad he did have Yuriko at least, but all of Jin’s memories on his mother and how she emphasized just living was so prominent, and her love of animals clearly passed to him and that gentleness too. And of instruments. Such softness, and I love that he retains that even as an adult. It makes sense that he doesn’t speak of his mother as often since he has far less experiences with her vs Kazumasa or Shimura, but it was nice to see her influence within him.  

Did this quest near the end of my exploration but I got the BIGGEST smile on my fave when I barged in the house to find the Ghost of Iki Island was Kenji <3 <3 <3 I love this dumbass so much and it was so nice to see a familiar face <3 Plus it let Jin have an actual full laugh when Kenji referred to them both as ‘tough guys’ XD His quests are always enjoyable for me and so I really loved that (though I was also Jin when he’s like “...you didn’t say goodbye.”) but I was happy to see him do the right thing at the end <3 THEN I got to duel the Viper because I diffused the situation instead and that was fun. Love that Jin explains his knowledge of negotiation was learned from all the years with Shimura <3 Also enjoyed spotting Kenji later in the Refuge XD

Really enjoyed all the side quests overall, loved all the animal sanctuaries, and the archery was a TON of fun! Getting the horse armor was neat, seeing Jin actively stop a Mythic retelling, though I was surprised there was no duel for that one. The one for the monkey armor was so creepy, following the lights in the cave, but so damn cinematic and that fight was incredible plus that amor is my new best friend. Seriously omg, the duels in this DLC felt so much beefier than the base game (I was playing on hard so that could be a reason, but the fights didn’t feel this tanky in the base) But that armor just made them a piece of cake if you’re good at perfect parries and perfect dodges <3 <3

Loved the banter and camaraderie between Jin and Tenzo throughout. And I really enjoyed Fune’s character as well! Did the next few story missions and I couldn’t help that sense of foreboding slipping in as I was getting more attached to these characters. Love that they had Kidafure Battlefield on the map but it isn’t till the mission that they tack on the ‘Village’, really hitting home what happened there. 

Maybe I should have been, but I did not see the twist with Tenzo coming at ALL! I physically gasped when he spoke the “May your death benefit all things” to that random Mongol and I was soooo tense, like Jin listen I know he was your dad but also Tenzo spared you. Which I love in the long run how he spared the Butcher’s child only to save him later in life, and Jin could save him and the island in return <3 Because ohhhhhh boy did I get emotional when Jin stopped the Eagle from landing that blow. 

But before that, HER FIGHT IS SO FUCKING COOOOOL!!!!!! SHE IS SO DAMN FAST AND SHE EASILY WIPED THE FLOOR WITH ME THE FIRST TWO TIMES. I also love her references to Khotan and that her moveset with the spear shares some similarities with him.  I tried once more in my Ghost armor (for fashion) and then I switched to the Sarugami armor and was flying through just to have that whole cutscene.

I know culture is different and obviously I can never understand that mindset, but to hear him say to Jin that they both should have died there broke my heart. What kind of a father wants his son’s death with him like that?!?!?!?! But I LOOOOOOVED ‘Honor and Ash’ playing in the background for that scene, as Jin is rejecting what his father may have thought/wanted (just like he did to Shimura with that track at the end of Act 2) and then it moved up a key just to reinforce that Jin is forgiving himself for this and letting go and again, forging his own path just as he did with his uncle. I loved that they used that piece for that pivotal moment...

...JUST TO KICK IT INTO AN EVEN HIGHER GEAR WITH JIN SAVING TENZO AND THE GHOST THEME BLARING IN WITH A KEY CHANGE TO THEN TRIUMPHANTLY FINISH OFF THE EAGLE!!!!! I WAS SO HYPED (and also hoping I wouldn’t die cuz how anti climactic would that have been?!?) but I didn’t and I really enjoyed the resolution between those two. I bowed to him after he bowed to me and I love that they even added dialogue for that if players do decide to do that <3 <3 <3 

The next quest with Fune was sweet, though it felt a little odd to do after defeating the Eagle, but it was sweet nonetheless. I have to finish up some trophy stuff, I guess there’s unseen quests that I’m sure I’ve done a few of, but I have to figure out what I missed. The dueling ring was fun, though that lady was the most difficult for me.

A few things of note:

-I like that in this DLC, you really can’t tell if it’s better to kill or spare Shimura. And how there are lines that could mean slightly different things to Jin depending on what he’s done. I’ve done both and I was on a file where he spared him, but besides a hallucination mentioning the Ghost being hunted for the rest of his days, nothing else pointed to one choice or the other.

-Though a line Jin said to Sugi threw me a bit when he said something along the lines of ‘you’ll never understand how hard it is to kill your family’ and maybe he was referencing his guilt for his father, but I’m like ?????? who else did you kill Jin??? Shimura is fine in this play through XD 

-Talking with her though, I like that Jin described himself as ‘someone who knows what it’s like to be hunted’ :((((((

-Tenzo also made reference to a friend of his being beheaded, but not finding the head till a week later, and asking Jin if he understands that and while the situation is different, I bet Jin’s mind went to Taka :( 

-Loved the subtle storytelling elements with Jin falling into his nightmares during the fight through the Gorge and his resolve disappears each time. The second time it happened, I verbally went “oh my resolve.....oh.”

-I do think Sucker Punch made a lil mistake though because I started thinking about how in Tale 8 of Masako’s quests, I’m almost certain she mentions Jin not understanding her need for revenge or something along those lines, and she talks about Shimura hunting down Kazamasu’s killer for weeks and how Jin had his closure. But uhhhhhh obviously his killer was never found? Or they killed the wrong one? And they didn’t mention it was on Iki Island and obviously didn’t have that foresight that they’d be doing this DLC since he was killed in the snow in the base game and now it was under a wisteria tree, but besides that small thing, I had no complaints! except for always wanting more Yuna

It was so great and I felt it really complemented the base game, especially in regards to everything that Jin feels guilty and responsible for, but also puts his relationship with Shimura is so many new lights that I loooove and I need to talk about more!!! If you read this far, feel free to hmu to chat about it because my best friend who played the base game at the same time I did and screamed with me about it has not played this yet and ahhhhh!!!!!!

OVERALL NOTES:

this javert has the most interesting interpretation because up until his FINAL SCENE he is the stone cold police officer, and he plays it SO WELL. like i have never been truly angry at a javert up until this guy, and whether that was because it was modern and resonates A LOT in 2020 or he just looks like a cop i want to punch, I DON’T KNOW but he plays it SO WELL and i love it so much!!

these thenardiers are the fucking BEST NGL they are the perfect mix of funny and cruel. madame t is also funny as HELL and i wish i had her talent lmao

i said it before but the police costumes in this show are. woosh. kudos to the costumer i took one look at those guys and was like “haha, no!.” vaguely related to that, i think this was the first time i nearly cried at Look Down like. the first song at the show, simply because of the convict getting the SHIT beat out of him on the floor. that hurt me and i hate that it is completely accurate to what happens in prisons today.

lovely ladies was,,,a LOT and tbh, i feel like it didn’t need to be. obviously it does show how horrible it is for sex workers, but that is why the music is there. the music and lyrics is there to tell what you don’t show visually. (though i do love the male prostitute lmao he took no shit)

i also said this before but the fact that there wasn’t bigger of a relationship between enjolras and grantaire kind of annoys me simply because they are revolutionaries in the present day. you can’t tell me that ALL OF THEM WERE STRAIGHT. with how many people i know now that identify under the queer and trans umbrella, and also how queer they are (to me) in the brick, the absence of any exr in a modern interpretation hurts a little.

in conclusion, this show was fucking FANTASTIC and even though i’m six years late, it still resonates hard given the time we live in today. i think i nearly screamed when i saw the cops in riot gear on the barricade because that is LITERALLY HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. this just reminds me how timeless the story of les mis is because you had to change LITERALLY NOTHING from the story to make it make sense in the modern age, and that is really the lesson you should learn from les mis; these things happen everywhere, and they need to be fixed.

We're both fine now Takinoue-san, thank you for asking." you calmly answered but it made you realize something. That question made you miss him more and you're seeing him later on. "Scary," you thought to yourself. You're on the edge of backing out because you're scared to feel his presence again, you're scared to let that suppressed feeling that you've hidden for the past 4 years out, and you're scared that in the end you'll search and long for his existence again after this meeting. Trying to break the awkwardness, Yamaguchi barged in with the invite of buying onigiris at the next stall. To your surprise, it's one of the monstrous Miya brothers and he's selling onigiris and is not with his brother playing volleyball. So your squad gave thank you's to Shimada and Takinoue-san (who's scratching his head out of embarrassment) and scooted over to the other stall. "Oh, another from Karasuno! Their manager and another one hmm but you're not a member of its club but I remember you," he said while trying to guess who you are. "No it's fine, but thank you fo-" "Oh! you're the girlfriend of that guy with that nasty blocks! I remember you now. I was eyeing you then I searched for you outside the court then you made a scene after they just got out of the exit. He sure is lucky heh heh." he halted with a smirk from remembering that scene that happened 4 years ago.

fwiiiIiiiIIIiitTTTtttTTt  The set ended. As the whistle blew, by instinct, you ran with all your might from the bleachers down to the court's exit to meet them. Karasuno loss to Inarizaki high. Miya brothers got their revenge from their loss last year. Nearing the court's exit, you've tried to suppress all your emotions, tried to suppress that tears from flowing because you'll know it'll affect them, and you've decided to mouth a mantra "You can do it y/n. Don't cry!" over and over again. But the sight of Karasuno VBC having a satisfied yet you believe that they're just keeping a strong front. You've shouted, "YOU GUYS DID SO WELL!!"

"Kei!!" you exclaimed as you climbed up the tall beanpole and you wrapped your legs around his waist. "Are you okay? Don't feel so upset, please. I'll ready my shoulders and lap for you. Do you want some strawberry shortcake? We can buy it on the way home or you want me to bake one? Just tell me. Let's watch again the Jurassic Park series hmm? deal?" you blabbered as you look onto his eyes with puppy eyes. "Dumbass!! You never failed to amaze me with your idio-" he halted as you pulled his head into a kiss as you can never think of another way to comfort him right at that moment. You know he needs to be comforted because Tsuki always wanted to win and you know for sure that he'll be hiding this disappointment all by himself afterward. Hinata and Kageyama stood in surprise as both of them cannot register what's happening right in front of them. Meanwhile, the whole Karasuno VBC can't even believe that the one that's involved in this couple scene is Tsukishima. That's why they just whistled it off and just continued with their after match agenda. "I WISH KIYOKO-SAN IS HERE" Tanaka and Nishinoya mumbled and cried out. ~~~ "Oh, she's taken." Osamu scoffed to himself as he tried to search for you as he was amazed by your beauty and courage back at the bleachers as you try to cheer wholeheartedly for Karasuno. 

"Oh, haha that. We remember, thanks hahaha!!" you answered nervously, thinking "am I gonna encounter everyone that I knew back in my high school days like this?". And fear crept you up more as you finished buying things and now walking off inside the arena. thud thuD tHuD "UGH" you've said to yourself Every step you take, your heart beats so loud like it's trying to escape out of your chest. Blood is getting to your head out of nervousness to encounter him once again.

"TSUKI!! I GOT EM!" Your heartbeats became extremely audible when you heard Yamaguchi shout for Tsukishima's name and attention. "No, I only drink Kahlua and milk. I don't appreciate people who......" Every noise from the whole arena became inaudible as Tsukishima muttered words as an answer for Yamaguchi's exclamation.  Damn, you've missed this voice so much. This voice that comforted you, secured you, annoyed you, and whispered words to you lovingly. Suddenly, you've wished that could press that restart button so you can start all over again and delete that past mistake of leaving him out of your own cowardice. 

This is what you've been missing and longing for. This is the missing puzzle piece. Tsukishima Kei is the home that you've been longing for.

Supernatural: Carry On (15x20)

Oh my god. Lol. So... did Andrew Dabb forget to read back through his finale script one final time before deciding it was finished? Because like... Dean says "if we don't keep living, all that sacrifice (Cas and Jack) will be for nothing." Cut to a comically short time later, where Dean dies and is just like "time to go, let's not keep fighting, I'm tired lol."

Like WHAT did I just witness. I'm so grateful, in this moment, to a little show called The Magicians, because in April of 2019 they ended their fourth season with such an egregiously terrible decision that I literally couldn't sleep for a week, I was shaking and intermittently sobbing, I had never felt so betrayed and devastated over any piece of media before. After that, I've sort of become numb to bad endings, and this is no exception. This episode was absolutely terrible and I'm just sort of like... meh. I'll ignore it. Whatever.

I do want to forego the usual "pro" and "con" sections in this review, and do a more traditional full-on ramble about my thoughts, because they're kind of convoluted, if I'm gonna be honest.

The first thing I want to say, is that this wasn't the worst finale I've ever seen. Objectively, it was a terrible episode of TV and an insulting wrap-up to a fifteen-year-show. But I have a very specific category for the worst finales ever, and those are the ones that provide endgame states for the characters that are... unfixable in a post-canon but still-canon-compliant world. So, for example, the How I Met Your Mother finale killed off the titular mother and betrayed years of buildup, and that's a real-world sitcom. There's no resurrecting people from that shit. Or like. Game of Thrones being an obvious recent example. The Rise of Skywalker is a good movie example.

This? It's a little different. The endgame state of Sam and Dean and Cas is that they all die and spend eternity in Heaven, where they get to be with all their loved ones. I mean, sure, we don't get to see that, we only get a throwaway line to imply that Cas made it out of Super Turbo Hell The Empty, but that's the endgame state of the characters. And that's more or less what I would have wanted, as like a... years after canon situation. Right? So yeah, this was a bad episode, but if I edit in the shit I wanted to see, none of it contradicts the canon in a way that's not workable. It's a sad world we've come to where this is all I can really grasp at, but there is a perverse sort of comfort in that.

So, should we talk now about how Dean dying is a betrayal of what they said this whole season, and maybe whole show was about? Ha. It's so ridiculous. It's embarrassing. I watched Dean's final moments and I was embarrassed for Jensen. For Dean. For all of us watching.

Just. Watch the end of 15x19 again, okay? Watch it, and hear what they're saying. Yay, we killed God, we killed the author of the story, which means we get to write our own stories, finally. We get to do that. After all this time, we're finally free. And what does freedom look like? It looks like Dean dying on a run of the mill hunt.

We get this little montage of Sam and Dean at the Bunker, you know? They're doing laundry and going on jogs and cuddling with Miracle the dog, and they're brushing their teeth and going on hunts, I guess. And the emotional resonance from that scene was just kind of... ennui? And boredom? And that's what's so terrible and depressing about this ending. It's so empty, because Dean didn't get to do the thing he said he was fighting for. Sure, he was always fighting for Sam, but he should have been able to fight for himself, too, right? He should have been able to fight for a life after the years of programming. He should have gotten to be a rock star or a chef or worked at an animal shelter or become a foster parent or grown old as Sam's brother, as an uncle to his kid. He should have been able to find love, if he wanted that.

Look, I'm not even mad that Dean died in a "mundane" way. It's not like "nooo Dean is too coooool to die in such a laaaame way, he's a bad-ass and he should have gone out in a blaze of glory!" That's actually not what I'm mad about at all. Sam died old in his bed, and Dean should have been able to do that too. This whole season, since finding out that Chuck was the ultimate big bad, was supposed to be about free will, and Dean never got to figure out a way to be happy and find peace. That's fucking dour and stupid.

I kept saying, in the buildup to this finale, that a depressing, grim-dark ending to this show would be a failing of the themes they set up, and, hey, they didn't go grim-dark, because the writers did not think this was grim-dark. They thought it was powerful and emotional and resonant. You can tell they thought that, even though they're... uh... what's the word. Wrong? Yeah. Wrong. You know what I realized while watching this? It was just a lamer, less resonant and appropriate version of Sam's sacrifice at the end of season five.

Right? Because after Sam yeets himself into hell to save the world, Dean just has to keep going, and as Cas says, "you got what you wanted, more of the same." Just... more of the same. And Dean couldn't hack it, he was miserable without Sam, and Sam came back and we got ten more years of the fucking show. And now... what, we just get that in the other direction? Because Sam is the strong one and can soldier on without Dean because his codependency was a little less crippling? Wow, what a great ending for him, I guess. It doesn't work because we've seen Sam without Dean, and he falls apart too.

And now the show ends with Sam alone. Sure, he gets married to a blur in the background and has a kid, but let me ask you a question, here. Did Sam... want to be a father? I didn't know that was a thing he wanted, that would make him happy, honestly. I had no idea. So this doesn't seem like it works as something even remotely satisfying as an endgame state for him either. It's bleak.

And it's bleaker because there's nobody else in this fucking episode, y'all. The other big theme in all of Supernatural, after "free will" would be "family don't end in blood." And guess what? Apparently it does? Apparently Sam and Dean are each other's whole worlds and nothing else matters? We get... an implied wider world but we don't get to see it. We don't get to see Eileen, Jody, Donna, anybody left alive for Sam. So from the standpoint of characters that we know and give a shit about, Sam loses Cas, Jack, and Dean and lives the rest of his life lonely and sad. Nobody else even comes to Dean's funeral. It's just Sam alone with the dog. Like... that's bleak.

This ending gave the fucking Wincest shippers everything their hearts could desire, for fuck's sake. Like. Why did they cater to that and not follow through on the idea that they had created a family and community beyond each other? You know, this thing called character growth?

To take a brief break from the negativity, I will say something here about Sam and Dean. In the weird hysterical euphoria of the whole Destiel thing a couple weeks ago, I lost sight of something, which is that for me, the draw of this show has always been the relationship between Sam and Dean. I was never a brothers-only person, but it was their fucked up codependent bond that drew me to the show over the years. I loved the idea of Destiel, but I never thought it was going anywhere, so really I loved Castiel, the character, separate from the context of his relationships. Having a big dramatic death scene where Dean says "I love you so much" and there's a forehead touch and Dean saying "it's always been you and me" and confesses that he was scared to get Sam at Stanford because he didn't know how to survive if he didn't have him, and to have Sam say "don't leave me" and then give Dean permission to go... I mean, all of this is catnip, right? All of this is great, like, in isolation, it was such an amazing "broment," as the fandom says. I mean, it made no sense with context, it was utterly insulting in every way, but Jensen and Jared acted their lil' hearts out and I could tell they were really in the moment.

So let's talk about Cas for a second, while I have you here... they never should have done the big gay confession. They just shouldn't have even fucking bothered. I'm telling you, that makes this whole thing worse. It felt completely intentional and weird that Dean never acknowledged the confession, never told Sam, never had a moment where he specifically reckoned with Cas' loss. But that's what I knew would happen. I knew it in my blood and bones, and as the meta started pouring in, I knew people were getting their hopes up for nothing. See, Cas saying "goodbye Dean" and the handprint on the arm... I knew that was their catharsis, that was the writers' and Misha's big goodbye to the character of Castiel. They thought they fucking nailed it. I knew we wouldn't see him again.

Like I said before, I have to be satisfied with an endgame state that doesn't totally suck, right? So, we get this throwaway line from Bobby that Jack fixed Heaven and made it not suck, and that Cas helped. This implies a multitude of things that are... comforting. At least Cas doesn't get that dour, dark, helpless oblivion that I worried he'd get. We can assume Jack plucked him out of the Empty, that he gets to be with his son, and that, if the fic writers so choose, Dean and Cas can have lots of gay sex up in Heaven. I think Misha not being in this finale was frankly a slap in the face to one of the biggest and most important characters the show has ever seen, you know? And I think that they kept him out of it so we could have Schrodinger's Destiel. Because if we'd seen Cas in heaven, and he hadn't confessed his big gay love, Dean could have been like: "hey Cas! Buddy! Good to see you, my friend." But since we did have the love confession, whatever Dean did upon seeing Cas would have to mean something in that context. So instead we didn't get to see him at all.

Which is stupid.

Also stupid is that the big sacrifice was to save Dean's life and then a couple weeks later he gets impaled on a rusty nail and dies anyway. Thanks for making the whole thing feel so utterly pointless and empty. No pun intended. Wow, they did Misha dirty, here, didn't they.

Turning back to Sam's ending, let's just talk about that for a minute. Like I said, I'm happy he got to live a long life and die an old man, what Dean always wanted for him. But nothing about that ending was more poignant because Dean was gone. In fact, it just made it super duper depressing and lame. There was no reason Dean couldn't have gotten a happy life, too. It adds nothing that he died young and unfulfilled. Like, you know how people joke about the end of the Titanic, where you see that Rose's Heaven is reuniting with Jack and everyone else on the ship, and people will say "well, gosh, that's kind of a slap in the face to Rose's family" since she clearly got married and had kids and grandkids? This is literally that! Like, having an ending where a young-again Sam Winchester gets to Heaven, and his whole Heaven, the thing that he needed to find peace after death, was a return to his brother... look, I'm not mad about that, but what the fuck about nameless blurry wife that we couldn't even confirm to be Eileen for some reason? What about everyone else?

And did Sam... keep hunting? Did he go to law school? Maybe there were background details that confirmed what he ended up doing with the rest of his life besides becoming a husband and father, but I didn't see evidence of it because I was too busy rolling my eyes out of my skull at how dumb this all was. So Sam just gets a generic "raking leaves in the yard" ending, like we saw for Dean at the end of season five, with nothing to challenge that. Even though we've seen why life outside of hunting, life without Dean, isn't satisfying for Sam, we're now supposed to accept it as how he spends the rest of his life, without seeing him put the work in to get there?

One thing I realized watching this episode is that it tries to play the middle. Like, with the Cas thing, they didn't want to make his noble gay sacrifice totally meaningless, so they couldn't just pop him back into the story, but they did give us one single throwaway line to reassure fans that he's not still in The Empty. So, people who don't give a shit about Cas can assume he's off being Jack's assistant and doesn't really interact with humans in Heaven. People who do give a shit about one of the show's main characters can assume that he has a home in Dean's little Heaven neighborhood too, and they all get to buddy around for eternity. People who don't like Eileen? Well, Sam married some nobody who we never got to meet. People who liked her? Well, you can't prove that wasn't Eileen, can you? Even Dean driving around in the impala waiting for Sam to die so he could finally be happy with his fucking soulmate or whatever. Time in Heaven is weird, Bobby says. It's metaphorical. You could assume that the driving montage was actually intercut with other moments, with Dean getting to see dear old mom (and dad, I guess, but ugh), and spending time with Bobby, with OG Charlie, with other familiar faces, and new ones as they finally reach their own deaths on Earth and come up to party with the rest of the gang.

Like, in a better show, in a world without Covid, maybe they had plans along these lines, to get more guest characters back and show Dean getting sappy hellos to a bunch of side characters in Heaven. To be quite honest, I would not have been mad about that. If you're going to make Dean die young and never give him the chance to find out who he could have been when the choices were all his own, which is, in case I haven't made that clear, a horrendous and insulting ending for his character... at the very least you could have given us the cheesiness of seeing him hug his friends in Heaven. Jeezus.

I want to hammer in this point one more time before I wrap up: they ended the show by saying that character development didn't matter. They had Dean's dying speech be a meta reference to the pilot episode of the show, they had him saying "it's always been you and me" and then they confirmed that with everything they had. Sam became a father, but did he have a happy life? Seems like he pined away for his dead brother for decades and then died. If the pilot had never happened, if Sam had stayed at Stanford and Dean had gone on hunting by himself, you know what would have happened? Sam would have had a "normal" life and married a woman and had a kid, I guess, and grown old, and Dean would have died fighting some vampires in a barn. This show has been on for fifteen years, and the ending did not honor anything about the journey the characters had been on.

A particularly egregious example is the early scene with the pie festival, where Sam is like "I'm sad about Cas and Jack" and Dean is like "if we don't go on living it won't honor their sacrifice" like... yeah, I get it, bringing people back from the dead time and time again is supposed to be a bad thing that Sam and Dean did for each other because they were selfish. So Sam giving Dean permission to go was supposed to be a growth moment. Sam and Dean accepting that Cas was gone and not even asking Jack to make sure he got sent to a happy eternity instead of oblivion, that's supposed to mean they've learned their lesson. And what a fucking lesson to leave things off on. Jesus, this is grim.

So like. As I try to figure out what to say at the end of this review, I will point out one glimmer of light in the darkness, which is that this finale isn't going to ruin the rewatchability of the show for me. I can still come back and re-watch without feeling like the whole thing is ruined by the ending. It's more than I can say for some other shows.

But honestly, if this was the ending we were going to get? Why the fuck not leave it open-ended? I did not enjoy 15x19 particularly well, but at least that episode left them on the open road, with a wide future ahead of them. Anything might have happened. It's their turn to write the story, right? Chuck is dead, the writer is "dead", the show is over, and now the possibilities are endless. That would have been an anticlimactic ending, for sure. But this ending just turns around and slaps the whole point of that first ending in the face and says "haha bitch you thought". They don't get to write their own stories. We see exactly how those stories end, and it's lame. Leave something to the imagination, yo. Leave it vague how and when they died, what their lives turned into. Show them in Heaven, getting to their peace at last, reuniting with their friends, including Cas. Put in a significant glance between Dean and Cas, and leave it to the internet to go wild about what it could mean. And never answer when fans ask "so what happened, when did they die? Did they keep hunting?" Just leave it vague. If this was the only ending they could come up with, I'd rather be left with questions.

This finale gets a low score from me, because they couldn't even pull on the right heartstrings to make me sentimental...

But the show as a whole? Well, it was a mess, and it had some seriously high highs and some devastatingly low lows. It's a bummer that the lowest low came in how they tried to wrap up the whole shebang, but like I said, this ending isn't going to ruin the whole fifteen-year run for me. We get to make up what happens next, and we can make Jack's new and improved Heaven our post-canon fix-it haven. I don't think there's ever been a show in my life quite like Supernatural. The fandom is so bonkers. The meta narrative of the show is so convoluted and twisty and goes in so many unexpected directions. I liked watching this show for its own sake, and also as like... an anthropologist trying to discover something about humanity and American values specifically. It wasn't always a pleasant experience, but it was one I know I'll never forget. My heart tells me to give the show as a whole a high score, representing the many, many hours of joy and dread and delight and horror I got over the near decade I've personally been watching. How do you wrap up fifteen years in a score out of ten?

probably just like.. action and scenes with a lot of movement and overlapping pieces, bc it can get overwhelming. also stuff that’s more focused and long bc i have a ridiculously short attention span (which is probably reflected in my writing lmao)

Adrien didn’t need photoshop to be up in the clouds. All weekend, he practically floated to each of his scheduled activities. Marinette was Ladybug, and his world had never seemed brighter. He hadn’t seen Marinette since leaving school on Friday, though. Adrien had started a few texts to her, but was at a loss of what to say. What if he was the only one that remembered? Of course, it would be his luck for that to happen. But it would be the sweetest of torture. At least, he knew his lady’s name.

Arriving at school Monday morning, Adrien wasn’t sure what to expect. He wanted to be as normal as possible since he didn’t know if Marinette knew. Plagg had teased him for practicing greetings in the mirror earlier, and he was suddenly feeling very nervous to see a certain classmate.

Taking a deep breath, he stepped out of the car. Nino waved at him from the steps. I can do this. Just act natural. Cool cat. Adrien greeted his best friend with a fist bump and joined the conversation he was having with Max about the new Ultimate Mecha Strike IV: his lady’s favorite game. Adrien felt himself start to blush.  Cool cat! COOL CAT!

“I’m going to go to my locker!” Adrien barely announced before bolting off. This was going to be harder than he thought.  

After retrieving his books, Adrien settled on waiting in the classroom. Being in the courtyard proved to be too overwhelming as he constantly scanned all the students for a pair of pigtails. Marinette typically arrived with only a few seconds to spare, and even though there were a few minutes left until class began, he couldn’t help but look each time someone entered.

Adrien jumped at the sound of Nino’s voice. “Dude, are you okay?”

Rubbing the back of his neck, Adrien offered a sheepish smile. “Yeah, sorry. Just worried about an upcoming fencing tournament.”

“You’re the best fencer in the league, though! You got nothing to worry about.”

“Thanks, Nino.” Trying to relax, Adrien focused on talking to Nino about their weekends until Ms. Bustier called the class to attention.

As predicted, Marinette entered the classroom without a moment to spare. Adrien’s heart thudded in his chest, but he kept his eyes on their teacher despite the temptation to let his eyes follow her. As Marinette slid into her seat, Adrien thanked the stars that she wasn’t in front of him, else he would never be able to focus.

Behind him, however, Marinette worried her bottom lip as she stared at the mop of blond hair. He hadn’t even acknowledged her when she came in. If he remembered, he would have at least looked at her, right?

Going into the courtyard for lunch, Marinette tried to conceal her disappointment. When she had tried to talk to Adrien in between periods, he treated her as he always had: just a friend. He barely responded to her before taking up a new topic with Nino.

Picking up on her friend’s mood, Alya nudged Marinette. “Hey, do you want to go to the park after school? I heard that someone was going to be making balloon animals today.”

“That sounds fun! As long as we aren’t out too late. I have to work on that history report tonight.”

“Oh, yeah. Me too. I am not looking forward to that,” Alya sighed. They were almost to their favorite bench when a loud voice bellowed above them.

“I am Recyclops, and I will take revenge on behalf of the earth!” The akuma shot a recycle sign at a table causing it to grow vines and come to life. Students screamed as the table began chasing them. Marinette reached out to grab her best friend only to have her hand pass through empty space. Alya was already running closer to the akuma with her phone held out in front of her.

Marinette scanned the area for a safe place to transform, but was tackled to the ground before she could even take a step. A trash can behind her began to sprout leaves. Before Marinette could recover, Adrien was pulling her to her feet and guiding them to an empty classroom.

Once inside, Adrien braced his back against the door, breathing heavily. “That was close. Go find a hiding spot. I’ll chill here and make sure nothing gets in.” The door budged as something hit it from outside.

Marinette hesitated, not wanting to leave him. “There must be something—”

“No. There’s no time. Go!” Adrien urged.

She nodded and moved towards a back door, stealing one last glance at the boy over her shoulder. He’s Chat Noir. He’ll be fine. This would be so much easier if he remembered, though.

Marinette checked that the hallway was clear before transforming into Ladybug and making her way back outside. Landing on the roof of the school, she surveyed the situation. Recyclops must have moved to a new target, but a small, lively forest remained, terrorizing the school grounds. Below her, Chat batted vines away from some students that weren’t quick enough to escape.

Ladybug landed behind her partner. “M’lady,” Chat Noir greeted, “What’s a flower like you doing among thorns like this?”

“Focus, Chat,” she chided, grabbing hold of the students and guiding them towards a nearby open door. Ladybug recognized it as the classroom Adrien had pulled her into only a few minutes ago. He must have transformed as soon as she left and joined the fight while she made her way out through the back.  

Closing the door behind the students, Ladybug turned around just in time to see a leafy vine wrap around her partner—who had been distracted trying to glimpse her reaction to the room they had just been in—and pull him into the canopy.

Hanging upside down, Chat Noir offered her a guilty smile as he swayed.

“Now’s not the time to have to rescue kittens from trees!” Ladybug called as her yoyo collided with the vine and freed him.

“Trunk you for the rescue.” The heroine rolled her eyes. “Let’s stop beating around the bush and get to the root of the problem. He went West.”

Instead of responding, Ladybug jumped to the roof. The akuma had already transformed most of Paris into a giant hedge maze, the streets barely visible below. Finding Recyclops was going to be difficult.

Chat’s tail flicked as he crouched next to her overlooking the city. “Well, I’m stumped. What’s the plan, m’lady?”

“Stay out of the maze and stick together. We need to lure him out without being caught in a trap ourselves.” Ladybug caught Chat’s smirk at her unintentional pun before setting her eyes back on the horizon. A plastic bag drifted through the wind only to be plucked out of the sky by a vine. “I think I have plan. But we are going to have to do some recycling.”

Ladybug had had a lot of strange plans, but none quite as strange as turning Chat Noir into a giant piece of garbage. Her partner was covered in plastic water bottles that she had borrowed from the school’s recycle bin.

“Why do I always have to be the bait?” the cat whined.

“Because you’re cute and sappy. It’s the perfect combination.” Ladybug tried to conceal her smug expression as Chat Noir’s face reddened. She waited for a response, but her partner was still blushing and avoiding her gaze. Ladybug pursed her lips. How am I supposed to flirt with a guy who doesn’t think I’m interested even though he thought I was his girlfriend 3 days ago and just forgot?

“Let’s leaf.” Ladybug resisted the urge to slap a hand over her face. This is where she was at now. Making puns. She shook her head trying to clear her thoughts. Akuma. Focus on the akuma.

Next to her, Chat Noir was trying and failing to steady his heart beat. Be. A. Cool. Cat. Coooool.

The pair set of across the rooftops, careful to avoid any creeping stems until they reached the Eiffel Tower. Ladybug shivered at the unsettling silence. Most akumas could be located through their taunts to the heros. Recyclops, however, was choosing to hide in the shadows. The pair exchanged a nod before Ladybug swung up to the rafters to wait. Chat Noir clanked his baton against the rails as he dropped a an extra bottle on the ground. Just as Ladybug suspected, vines started creeping up and leaves began to rustle.

“Now, I don’t mean to bark up the wrong tree, but why do you care so much about a piece of plastic?” Chat smashed one of the vines trying to wrap around his ankle.

A recycle symbol hit the plastic bottle that Chat Noir had dropped, turning it into a flower.

“Nice to see you branching out,” the hero said as Recyclops emerged. “Let me guess, you want to harvest my miraculous?”

“You have no respect for the planet!” the akuma called floating above Chat Noir. “I speak for the Earth who has no voice. Humans are bad for the environment, and I plan to show them the errors of their ways.”

Ladybug studied their opponent as the duo below her engaged. Recyclops’ yellow boots and gloves were an eye sore against the rest of his blue and green suit, but nothing stood out as a potential akumatized item. The only option was his blue helmet which covered his eyes and featured a white recycling symbol.

“I can be a little rough around the hedges, but I think you’d like me if you got to know me.” Chat leaned on his batton, sending the akuma a playful wink.

“I wish I could recycle your jokes!” Recyclops yelled, hurling a stick at him.

“I’m going to go out on a limb and say that you don’t have a good sense of humor to begin with.”

At that, the akuma sent all sorts of plants towards Chat Noir. Ladybug swooped down, knocking her partner off his feet and barely dodging the torrent of thorns.

She smiled down at him and said, “You know, I never heard you say timber when you fell for me.”

Chat remained sprawled on the floor as she got up to ward off Recyclops. This is it, he thought. I’ve died and gone to heaven.

Despite her distracted partner, it wasn’t long before Ladybug had Recyclops tangled in his own vines and she was cleansing the unwelcomed bug.

“Pound it,” the heroes exchanged their signature fist bump.

“Recycling is really important,” Ladybug said, helping the akuma victim to his feet, “I’ll talk to Mayor Bourgeois about opening more recycling centers around Paris.”

“It’s never too late to turn over a new leaf,” Chat piped in. The heroine rolled her eyes as her partner failed to contain his smug grin.

“Well, bug out!” Ladybug removed her yoyo to return to her civilian life but was stopped by a hand on her arm.

“Ma- Lady,” Chat Noir froze, forgetting what he wanted to say after almost saying her name. Her eyes locked with his, and he could feel himself losing his footing in a sea of blue. He longed to kiss her, but knew that he had to wait until he heard his name from her lips once again. In attempt to satisfy the urge, he swooped down and pressed a kiss to her hand instead.

The world around them stopped. Ladybug didn’t withdraw hand like usual, and Chat Noir was still at a loss of what to say or do. His fingers ached to interlace with hers, but he could hardly move, let alone breathe as he gazed at her.

Think! Adrien’s brain screamed. Say something! Say anything!

“You, uh… You look really pretty today.” Dumbass, she looks pretty everyday!

“Thanks!” Ladybug squeaked, a tint of pink seeping out from underneath her mask.

The boy continued to stare at her unable to function and still holding her hand.

“I-got-to-go-now-bye!” Chat Noir barely caught her string of words before she turned and left. He watched her disappear in the distance, his fingers tingling where hers had just been.

What if team RWBY and Ren had an S/O with a semblance like Raiden's blade mode from metal gear rising: revengance and liked using it whilst cooking for/with their respective character because of how flashy it is?

Ren

1. Will bring up that it is rather dangerous, but won’t really push the issue because his s/o likes it and he likes that they are happy. 

2. Because he knows they like it so much, he will allow them to do most (if not all) the cutting.

3. He will make sure to have his aura up just in case they get a little too carried away. 

4. He will admit that the hint of flavor created by the food being singed by electricity does add to the finished product quite nicely.

5. All in all, it’s a great bonding experience for them both; with a dash of excitement.

Ruby

1. She thinks it’s “sooooooo coooool!” She will make them stop cutting for a moment so she can get a closer look at the semblance enhanced blade.

2. She much prefers watching rather than taking part because it is so fun to watch.

3. If she does participate, expect Crescent Rose to come into play too!

4. Getting them out of the kitchen is really REALLY hard now.

5. On the bright side, no one else on team RWBY has to cook anymore.

Weiss

1. She will scold them at first because “that’s not the way a huntsman is supposed to use their semblance!”

2. She will eventually lay off when she sees how much fun they are having. A little goofing off with one’s semblance isn’t so bad. 

3. They will be making a lot of smoothies. Weiss makes the ice, S/O cuts up the ingredients.

4. It looks like some crazy cooking show in that kitchen after Weiss gets involved. Two flashy semblances working together to make the best damn food you’ve ever tasted? Yes please! Dinner and a show!

5. Weiss never expected her semblance could be so much fun! She is so happy that they got her to loosen up and try it.

Blake

1. “Isn’t that a bit dangerous?”

2. Regardless, she will pull up a seat at the dining room table and watch.

3. If they make her all sorts of different fish dishes that way, she’ll never complain

4. She’ll have them cook for her parents sometime. Kali loves it and thinks it’s exciting, Ghira likes their technique and skill. Surely these will allow Blake’s s/o to properly care for and protect his darling daughter. 

5. She loves watching them have so much fun.

Yang

1. LOVES IT! I mean, cooking has never looked cooler!

2. She is all for them doing it as much as they want!

3. Expect to have her tell them to stand on the other side of the room and hack away while she throws various ingredients at them.

Wake Up, May’n Famitsu Interview

*** TL Note: The kanji  笑 written in the interview is the equivalent of lol, so it symbolizes laughter from that person.

First off, Wake Up May’n. How did such a collaboration come to be? Can you tell us how this all started?

May’n: It was at an event in 2016, the Nendoroid 10th Anniversary Live I think it was called, and that’s where I first saw Wake Up, Girls. I took a look at their stage performance, and it was just love at first sight. Right after their performance ended I tweeted them saying “They were shining so bright!!”. After that, I watched all of the anime and from there I became a huge fan. Sometime after, whenever I’ve met up with WUG’s staff they’ve told me how much they liked me, so I told them “Let’s sing together then!” So from there we got to collab and sing together for one night at Anime Jam 2016. That event made me realize how popular such a unit could be. It was pretty unexpected.

Seeing how you’re an artist too, or really a fan, this must’ve come as a huge surprise for you.

That’s right, I’m just your average fan.

Did you two [Nanami and Miyu] see the tweets?

Miyu: It was such a popular topic among the members! “That May’n-san?! Interested in US?!?!”

Nanami: “She saw all of the anime??” “In such a short amount of time?!” All the members were sort so giddy after hearing that.

(笑) By the way May’n-san, who’s your oshi from the group? ***TL Note: Oshi is term for most liked member of an idol group.

May’n: I get asked that pretty often, but I really love all 7 members!

You really do support each and every one of them don’t you?

May’n: Yes. When I first saw them on stage, seeing them sweat from all that energy and passion, I just thought they were amazing. I could also feel a sort strong bond between the fans too. That sensation I felt then was what got me to start watching the anime. That feeling still hasn’t left me even to this day. My impression of them grew over time, and they’re still full of so much passion!

(To Miyu and Nanami) So it’s like that.

Nanami: Ahhh! I’m so glad I was sweating!!

Miyu: And here I tend to worry a lot about sweating.

May’n: Is that so?!

Nanami: WUG’s uniform has long sleeves and it tends to get really hot.

Miyu: During the summer we usually wear the “Shoujo Koukyoukyoku” uniforms pretty often. And conversely with “Beyond the Bottom”, we wear these thin white garments during the winter. So with that, WUG is really thrown all over the place haha!  (笑)

So back to Anime JAM, how did all of you from WUG feel about that collaboration?

Miyu: Of course we knew about May’n even before we started our work as Wake Up, Girls. She’s such a big name Anisong artist! Every time we heard her voice, we would be like “WHAT DO WE DO!?!?! OUR EARS ARE SO EXCITED!!!”, especially during her solo.

Nanami: Waa! We were so happy!

Miyu: Mayushii was like “Wow, what do I do?! May’n is singing my solo part!” (笑)

May’n: Me too! I was thinking “Ahh… I wonder if it’s alright for me to do this, because this is Mayushii’s part after all!!” I was really conflicted then. (笑)

Speaking of which, May’n-san. How did it feel singing “Tachiagare”?

May‘n: Learning the dance was pretty difficult. On top of that, I also had to learn to sing a new song. WUG being able to have the strength to continue singing and dancing together really makes me admire them even more! But because I love WUG so much, I wanted to persevere and properly present their song, Tachiagare. Since it was a collab after all, I studied and trained as hard as I could saying things like “So this move goes like so, right?” and “I’ll also dance to this part too!”

Miyu: I remembered a lot of things from past rehearsals, so after all that time I felt like I became a master.

Nanami: Right? The rehearsal went smoothly and was completed in the blink of an eye.

WUGners really do go all out don’t they? (笑) Have your impressions of May’n changed after meeting her?

Nanami: During Anime JAM we wore our uniforms from the song “Bokura no Frontier” which is a light blue color. In accordance, May’n-san chose to wear clothes that were a similar style to ours. So at first, we all had this image of May’n-san being “cool”, but since that event we came to learn that she’s a really kind and friendly person. We were just so happy.

Miyu: We usually had this image in our heads of May’n-chan in tanks tops and short pants thinking “SO COOOOOL!” but then we were like “MAY’N-CHAN IN A SKIRT?! AAAAAAAH SO CUUUUTE!”

May’n: Thank you. (笑)

How about you May’n-san? Has your impression of WUG changed as well?

May’n: I get this feeling from them that they all have this place where they want to be. Striving hard to reach a goal. They do so many things like music videos, modeling for photos, and etc. They even practice a lot during their free time too. I felt really drawn to them because of that. Even now my impression of them hasn’t changed, but more like it’s been reaffirmed.

I see. On to another subject, what are your favorite songs from each other?

May’n: Mine has to be Beyond the Bottom. Seeing WUG perform that song was what made me fall for them. Seeing them in that white one-piece, singing and dancing frantically with their hair flying about while also perspiring. I thought of it as something “sacred”.

It really felt like you were watching a drama of sorts wasn’t it?

May’n: That’s right! Just like that! Because of that I really wanted to follow WUG-chan and ended up watching the entire anime series.

Nanami: That really makes happy… I’m so glad we’ve been trying so hard up to now.

How about you two? What are your favorite songs from May’n?

Miyu: For me it would have to be… “Diamond Crevasse”!

Nanami: Ah! That’s what I wanted to say!

Miyu: (笑) I’ll like any song, but during the Aniuta Live 2017 (AniUpa) I was listening to the song from backstage. When I heard it I got goosebumps! It felt like a song from the heart. It really moved me. I was like “For some reason I’m crying!” (笑)

Nanami: My choice is also the same, “Diamond Crevasse”. It was also at AniUpa 2017, when I heard it I could feel it giving courage but also moving me to tears. “What are these feelings??” We’ll never forget that figure and powerful performance. At that time, we felt like we wanted to do a performance that would be just as deep as that.

May’n: Thanks so much!

Miyu: “Belief” is also a really cool song!

Nanami: It really does have an amazing sensation.

Miyu: The song has wide range and depth to it!

Nanami: Yup, I agree.

Miyu: I also think your cute songs are pretty great too.

May’n: Really? (笑) Thank you!

So tell us, Wake Up May’n! One kind of song is One In a Billion?

May’n: The title of the anime it’s a theme song for, “Restaurant to Another World”, holds a hint. “A once in a lifetime encounter” is the theme of the song. I feel like it’s something that was created because of my meeting with WUG. It’s a song that gives me the hope and excitement to explore the unknown.

Nanami: It’s the opening theme of “Restaurant to Another World” after all, so you’ll hear some cute words like “Peko Peko” sprinkled like spice onto the lyrics.

Miyu: It really is a song that brings out excitement. Just like May’n-chan said, this song wouldn’t be a thing if it weren’t for WUG and May’n meeting. In the first half of the song, we’re divided into singing our own parts, but during the last part we end up coming together. I think it’s a great song.

So May’n and WUG come as one later in the song.

Miyu: Yes. It’s an important point in the song, and I hope people give it a good listen.

Is there any part of the song that feels different from your past ones?

Nanami: The lyrics in the song feel really bright, whereas some of WUG’s song lyrics feel pretty dark. (笑)

May’n: That’s pretty surprising.  (笑)

Nanami: When I first went over the lyrics, I was so surprised that I said “It’s so blinding!!”

May’n: I thought so too.  (笑)

Miyu: We really did have the same thing in mind.  (笑)

May’n: But still, I was glad to have basked in WUG-chan’s cuteness. It felt really refreshing to sing a song that was brimming so much with smiles and cheer. A lot of my songs don’t carry that kind of energy.

Haha, it must feel like walking into a dark house when you come home.

May’n: Well they’re just lyrics, y’know.  (笑)

What can we expect when listening to One In A Billion？

Miyu: At first the song starts off with a relaxing and slow tempo, but once the doors are opened a rush of energy just flows through. I hope it’s something that a lot of people will look forward to.

Nanami: Before the chorus, we have a part where we say “FU! SION! MIX! CHA!”. Lyrics like that kind of feel like there’s some sort of communication going on between a cook and their customers. I’d like people to enjoy that.

May’n: Lots of food words are inserted throughout the song, but there are also the words “Like and Dislike” too to show that there’s lots of things that link food and life together. I want people to pay close attention to those parts. Also, I hope that some WUG fans can discover me the way I discovered them. It makes me excited for what the future holds and what kind of people I’ll encounter along the way.

So WUG, you performed at Osaka for the first time. What was it like?

Nanami: We were wondering what the audience would be like since it was our first performance their after all, but we were really well received.

Miyu: Their excitement just exploded!

Nanami: We thought “Thank goodness!” And during the later parts we just sang.

May’n: Dancing itself must’ve been difficult.

Miyu: It was pretty hard. The bar for WUG has definitely been raised as of late.

Nanami: So in our setlist we sang “Koi de Ai de Bokun Desu” and after that we sang “One In a Billion”.

May’n: Eeh?! Wow! So it’s just one dance after another!

Nanami: Yep! And even after that we still had character songs to perform…

Miyu: It was really exhausting. (lol)

(Everybody laughs)

May’n-san, what are your thoughts on singing and dancing during music videos?

May’n: I’ve had experience performing with other dancers while being in the center, but I did have face some difficulties during changes in formation. In regards to positioning, I’m used to a 0.5 spaced increments. WUG on the other hand uses formations with .25 spaced increments, which I’m not used to at all (笑). Even though I wasn’t used to the spacing, I felt like I could match up my rhythm pretty well with the people next to me.

Editor’s note: Singers will usually be in the center of performances with their location being marked as 0. So with .5 space increments the dancers on both sides of her, the locations of each performer would be like so: 1.5 .5 ->1-> 1.5 The smaller the increment space, the more complex the formations tend to be.

Nanami: There certainly were some tricky details.

Miyu: We did have quite a few patterns.

Nanami: It certainly varies with each song, but the A and B melodies and chorus were pretty different from each other. Our dance instructor, Satomi-sensei, was very particular about our choreography/formations and wanted to look beautiful.

I see. So after all of that, did you end up having an even deeper respect for WUG?

May’n: Yes. Dancing in formations has always been a specialty of WUG’s, but I found myself a little panicked when I tried doing it too.

So you say the dancing in itself was pretty difficult, but did you have any other troubles when recording the music video?

Miyu: The dance scenes with the bread was pretty tricky.

Ah, I see that scene where you looked like you were kneading the bread. Eh? Wait, did you have to learn that on the spot?

May’n: Yes, because there were solo cuts within that segment, we practiced independently between those breaks. Everybody else was learning it quickly, so I had to ask the people next to me “Please show me how to do it! Just one more time!” (笑). I messed up a lot during the filming, which is why I’m glad we were just recording a music video.

Wow, it’s a video made up of so many trying moments. Were there any other highlights?

Nanami: I don’t know if you can notice it, but there’s this scene where a boy walks through the door and when everybody notices the boy they stopped what they were doing. For my part I kind of had to stumble a bit while holding the plates. It was pretty hard to act like I was stumbling so evertime in my head I would think “This doesn’t seem right.” (笑)

Miyu: (笑) In the scene where we were making sandwiches, everybody had to look as if they were fighting the camera. So everybody was handed a kitchen utensil, so I wondered what I would get. But they told me “Takagi-san, you’re going to do a chopping motion with your hands.” I was like “EEEHHHHHHH?!” I was expecting to be handed a really big kitchen utensil or something!

May’n: I see! So that’s why you were being so ecstatic with those rolling pins!

Oh, so a cutting motion was what you were trying to go for.

Miyu: Yes, that’s right (笑)

May’n: I thought those hands looked very pretty (笑).  My highlight for the music video is their solo cuts. In those parts it looked like they were saying “Excuse me, can I have your attention?”. Even though they didn’t say it out loud, everybody would pay attention anyways (笑). As a WUGner I felt really satisfied with those scenes.

I agree, everybody really did look adorable.

May’n: When a different girl was up recording their cut, everybody was like “Kyaa! So cute~! So cool~!”

The cool part must’ve been referring to Yoshioka Mayu-san right?

May’n: That’s right  (笑).

Nanami: All the members got to see Mayushii’s parts (笑).

Miyu: Kaya was the most noisy then, saying “Whoa whoa whoa! Those hands! Look at them hands go!”

There are quite a few WUG fans in WUG aren’t their? (lol)

Miyu　Everybody was having a lot fun with each other (笑).

So this time around, the first limited edition set comes with a bluray that comes with the music video in different angles. Are there any promising scenes to look for?

Miyu: Are alternate angles something people would enjoy?

Advertisement Team: At the top of the screen for the bluray there’s an option to watch the normal version of the music video. There’s also another version where people can watch and enjoy the dance version of the song.

Man, that’s something I really want. The formations look so visually appealing and the dance itself is something I really want to take a look at.

Miyu: This is the first time WUG has shot a full version dance video, so I hope you watch it!

Nanami: We did our best swinging around from the dancing, so I hope you enjoy it!

Miyu: May’n-chan was also pretty cool when dancing too! We did a formation together after all!

May’n: I really tried my hardest (笑)! Having 8 people dancing and singing in a music video isn’t something you see very often, so I’m very happy that we got the opportunity to do this.

So then there’s also another song in the single as well, called “King’s Cadenza” 王様のカデンツァ　What kind of song is it?

Miyu: In comparison to “One In A Billion”, “King’s Cadenza” is a sort of relaxing song that gives off a sweet feeling that’s kind of fluffy. In the beginning you can hear us say “PaPaPa-n” which is a sort of fanfare made up of our own voices.

Nanami: The song also has a kind of stylish vibe to it.

May’n: It certainly does show off an adult’s cute charms.

Is it your first time singing this particular style of song?

May’n: Hmm, I don’t think it’s something I’ve really done before. What about WUG?

Miyu: We haven’t done it either.

May’n: Lyrically, the theme is about a “naked king”. But the term “naked king” isn’t used in a bad context. The things you see before you aren’t the only things you can believe in right? You yourself are the only one that can experience what life has to offer and you choose what beliefs to hold, is what those lyrics are. I think that sort of feeling is also in “One In a Billion”.

I see, that’s pretty deep.

Miyu: It really is deep. It’s my favorite song.

What are some highlights in the song?

May’n: The first part of the song where everyone was doing that fanfare was really cute.  I felt like everybody could sing full of smiles and energy with weightless shoulders.

WUG Manager: The fanfare part is especially pretty interesting. We wanted to make it pretty distinctive so there would be directions like “Say it more childlike”, but then there’d be “Sing it a little more mature” but then they’d also say “Sing it a little more stupid-like”. (笑)

(笑) . I wonder which person was singing in that kind of voice.

Miyu: Originally the fanfare part wasn’t supposed to be there, but someone made a request to do it while we were recording.

I see, so that’s what happened.

Miyu: That’s why some of the members had a hard time understanding the directions. I hope people can pay close attention to that part.

May’n: “One In a Billion” is a really great song to do live, whereas King’s Cadenza has a cute charm to it. When singing those two songs I thought “Wow! So I really can sing a wider variety!” I felt really thrilled to increase my repertoire. I really feel that there wasn’t a single wasted moment, and am very glad to have worked on this single.

I’d certainly like to see more of Wake Up, May’n. Are there any other things that you would like to do together as WUM?

Nanami: I really want May’n to make a debut appearance in the anime world!

May’n: Could I be in the new WUG anime coming out?  (笑)

Miyu: Aaah! I’d definitely want to see that happen!

New TV anime, Wake Up, Girls! Shin Shou premiering October 22, 2017.

Nanami: If May’n became a 2D character, then she could play herself and the characters would end up meeting in the anime too.  (笑)

That way you could consult to a pretty experienced person. (笑)

Miyu: After that I want to do a live as Wake Up, May’n! I wonder if we’ll do it at the release event? Hmmm…

Speaking of which, you have a release event taking place on August 9th. Tell us how excited you are for that.

May’n: All 8 of us will be there together, which is a somewhat rare opportunity. Even though it’s a weekday, I hope a lot of people come.

Miyu: It’s the first time all of us will be performing together as Wake Up, May’n. I hope you look forward to it.

Nanami: When on tour we have 7 members, but with May’n-chan added into the group our songs have a different sensation. I hope that anybody that watched us on tour can see the difference.

Thank you very much! Now this question might seem different from the others, but since One In a Billion is the opening of Restaurant to Another World, please tell us what your favorite foods are!

May’n: It’s not related to “Restaurant to Another World” in any way, but I really like taiyaki! To me, taiyaki in a way is something that’s full of good will! I’d like taiyaki and other Japanese sweets to be enjoyed by people all over the world.

Miyu: Mine would be… Meat. Is what I would like to say, but whenever I go out to eat yakiniku I’d usually order a lot of Chanja! (笑)

May’n: Wait, I order lots of that too! I love it!

Miyu: Eh, you eat it too?? I reaaaally love it too! Chanja and Yuke!

May’n: Yup, I also order lots of Yuke too!

You two are pretty like-minded it seems (笑).

Nanami: For my favorite food, I really like Japanese style omelette rice.

May’n: Ah! Me too!

Nanami: I really like it Japanese styled, with lots of mushrooms in it too.

May’n: Hey that’s my favorite style too! You’re really asking for it now, Nanami!

Nanami: Eeh!!  My stomach feels kinda weird! (笑) Other than how I prepare it, I really liked how my Grandmother would make it, adding eggplants on top. It’s a really cherished memory of mine.

So there’s a precious memory like that involved with cooking. May’n-san, can you cook?

May’n: My meals tend to be messy, but I am pretty good at making Omurice and Oyakodon. People say that egg dishes are pretty difficult to make, but I think I do a pretty good job.

Wow that’s pretty impressive. Nanami-san, you cook for yourself too, correct?

Nanami: That’s right. The other WUG members aren’t really good at cooking, so that gives me the privilege of being that only character in a group that can cook (笑).

Haha, Miyu-san, how’s your cooking?

Miyu: Well I really just cook Java Curry (笑).

Nanami: Just Java Curry?!?! (笑)

Miyu: Using curry ingredients I can also make meat and potatoes too! I try not use the kitchen knife as much as possible so I tend to buy refrigerated vegetable mixes. With that I can make curry pretty quick.

I see (笑). Also, since we usually cover games with our media outlet, what type of games have you been playing lately?

May’n: For me, I’ve been playing “Mario Kart 8″ on the Nintendo Switch so much that I’ve been skipping out on sleep! It’s just so much fun! It’s crazy!  It has to be my favorite game of all time right now.

Nanami: Mario Kart huh~?

Miyu: It sounds fun!

May’n: It really is great to live in age where people all around the world can play online and race each other at anytime. I’m not really good at playing video games though. I’m not really good with games with complex controls, but Mario Kart is different. The controls feel simple. That’s why I like it, because it’s straightforward. Also, I tend to play while using a Mii with my face on it so I’m like “May-san!! Do your best!” cheering her on while I play (笑). My Mii will also cry too when she loses. That’s why I like to play everyday just so I can see her smiling face.

Have you ever played any of the past Mario Karts?

May’n: Mario Kart has been around for a long time so I’ve played it often.

Miyu-san, what type of games do you like?

Miyu: I haven’t really played any recent games, but I have been playing the smartphone version of “Mushihime-sama” lately. The enemies and bullets are quite troublesome, but seeing them explode is quite a refreshing feeling I enjoy. It’s also pretty fun getting through a pinch with the boss battles so I just pull through it.

***TL Note: Mushihime-sama is bullet hell video game, similar to Touhou. It was also released in the US on Steam.

So you like shooters. What about you Nanami-san?

Nanami: I don’t really play video games, but I have been playing “Hachigatsu no Cinderella” and “Soul Reversal”, games with WUG members in them. I always wonder if I’ll end up rolling the members in the gacha. Usually it’s somehow easy for me to get my own characters, but it gets pretty dicey when I try rolling for the other WUG members (笑). It’s so worrisome.

I can imagine (笑). To change the topic, how do you spend your days off?

May’n: I spend it at the gym. I love to kickbox. Whenever I have free time, I try to kickbox. I’ve been doing it for about a year and a half now.

I wonder which WUG members would be susceptible to a lowkick (笑) .

Miyu: I wish Minami and Yoppi good luck  (笑).

They’re pretty small aren’t they?

Nanami: That’s right.

What kinds of thing do you when kickboxing at the gym?

May’n: I don’t do matches, but I do train with my trainer. The constant movement really helps clear my head. I go to the gym alone whenever I have something on my mind.

So you haven’t had any matches yet?

May’n: Not yet.

You haven’t wanted to try it at least once?

May’n: I would like to! (笑)

(笑) What about you Miyu-san? What do you do on your days off?

Miyu: I haven’t really done it recently, but I guess playing the drums. Back in March 2017 during a solo event, I played the drums for a song my character sang.

May’n: Wow that’s impressive!

Miyu: Although I can’t really sing and play drums at the same time (strained laugh). So that’s when I started playing the drums. It was a lot of fun. I used to practice for about 3 hours, and I’d be so focused that time would fly by so quick. By the time it ended I’d be surprised that it’d gotten so dark. After lessons ended I wanted to get back to playing again as soon as possible.

What is it about playing the drums do you find fun?

Miyu: Feeling the change in pressure when I play and moving my legs to the rhythm. The sensation of making music with my body is really interesting.

How do you spend your days off Nanami-san?

Nanami: Me, well I like to throw things away.

May’n: Ehh?!

Do you not have any attachment to material things?  (笑)

Nanami: It’s not like that, but sometimes I’ll find clothes that I bought about 2 years ago. So I go through my pile of clothing, throwing away things I don’t need and choosing the ones I want to keep. At the end of the day I feel pretty refreshed.

May’n: I’m envious~.

Are you the type that likes to collect everything?

May’n: My house kind of looks like Don Quijote (笑).

***TL Note: Don Quixote (Donki for short) is a convenience store that carries a wide range of products, like clothes, souvenirs, electronics, groceries, and etc.

I’m sure there are a lot of other people like you, May’n-san, that find it hard to throw things away.

May’n: I also really like hippos! Just with hippo plushies alone, I have 700!

Miyu: EH?! ***TL Note: WTF

May’n: Also, I have a ton of figures. Some people may find my place to be pretty fun or pretty messy. Sometimes people will say “You gotta calm down!” (笑)  

Miyu: I really like Donki, so I’m probably the type that would like it (笑).

We’d love to hear more of your private lives, but we have to end things soon. Do you have any messages for the readers?

Nanami: This time around Wake Up, May’n has sung a few songs together. At first it was difficult to call ourselves Wake Up, May’n since it was hard to call May’n-chan without any honorifics, but after getting to know her I can confidently say “We are Wake Up, May’n!”. The 8 of us will be performing as one unit at a release event so I hope you can watch and have fun!

Miyu: With the May’n we were able to meet, we’ll be releasing our single on August 9th. I’m really looking forward to meeting the people that’ll be at the release event! I hope to hear things like “WUM-chan ganbatte!” I hope to hear a lot people call us WUM-chan.

May’n: I’ve never really done this kind of collaboration before, so when they first announced a collab team up with WUG, it felt out of this world. Everybody felt like it was some rare out of this world unit. However, I felt a sense of security like I’ve been doing this for a long time. It’s not something that may seem absolute in the future, but I definitely want to do this again. I want people to believe that it’s not just a festive song just because it’s a collaboration between two performers, but I want them to really enjoy it as one unit.
