hey!!! I was looking through your xenofiction lists and, do you know which (if any) of the media on your list have active fandoms (besides Warriors, Wings of Fire or Rainworld)?

hmmm not something i really keep track of, sorry :( uh the mlp one is huge and still pretty active, definitely not as wild as it used to be! i guess from my gut instinct, the lion king has always had a pretty enduring following. smaller and quiet communities (probably) exist around guardians of ga'hoole, the ginga series, beastars, okami, pmd and cattails?

Here are some shows and books for therians, otherkins and animal lovers!

Ginga Nagareboshi Gin

Tells a story about a bear dog in the 80's who collects a big group of dogs to fight a big bear, is an anime and manga.

The manga continues with the dogs that are alive to fight wolves who have special techniques to fight.

Ginga Densetsu Weed

Continuation to Ginga Nagarebpshi Gin, and tells a story about wild dogs fighting a big gene manipulated dog and also a normal dog who plays foul. An anime and a manga, tho the anime isnt the best animated beside the episode 5.

The manga continues with fight towards other dogs and "hybrid" bears.

Note: at least comparing Gin and Weed anime's, Weed has more humane characters who cry for their friends a lot more and has more variety in character than just a strong dogs like Gin

The Otaniemi district in Espoo, Finland is the home of the main campus of the Aalto University (formerly independent Helsinki University of Technology) as well as several student dormitories.

While niemi means just a cape (as in "landmass extending into a body water", in this case the Baltic Sea), scholars are less certain what ota means, as usual the story is a mess and includes hundreds if not thousands of years and several languages. However, in typical Finnish custom, today the area contains several roads, streets and other features named with the "ota"-prefix, like Otakaari, the looping main street of the district.

Some jokers call the district "Onaniemi", implying that the stereotypically male and geeky students of, say, computer science might have trouble finding sexual partners and would instead end up masturbating more than the general populace. An unsourced but plausible claim is that for decades, of all the small kiosks in the nation-wide R-Kioski chain, the one in Otaniemi was the top-seller of porn mags, but also the first place to suddenly lose those sales when the internet became fast enough to transfer photos and the campus network was expanded to the dorm rooms.

Like probably everywhere in the world, also in Finland the students of technology gravitated towards science fiction and fantasy, American shows like Star Trek and Babylon 5 of course being popular. However, around mid 90s, when the rest of us still relied on what our three-ish TV channels decided to air and what a couple of companies decided to publish (and what a handful of magazines decided to write about), they had the means and skills to learn about and acquire all kind of works of entertainment unknown to the internet-deprived masses. So, while everyone knew the 90s Moomin series, some had seen a couple of Miyazaki films on the TV and random kids were exposed to the mess that it is Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin, quite unsurprisingly the tech students were among the pioneers of the Finnish anime and manga scene as a separate hobby.

Which is probably why even on the Google Maps, it says basically (Here be) otakus over this seemingly innocent-lookíng small driveway.

Oh my god! It's Kizzie again <3 love her. I loved the little brother too. I think it's the mustache and buffness, but he reminded me a little of Armstrong from fullmetal alchemist.

I also loved the oh he prob not a murderer... Cuts to Alrick blodied and just having murdered someone.

And Alrick's face! Perfect. Kizzie and him would endid make a cute couple. And it would probably mean more Kizzie in the future which is always good in my opinion. But I can also see how and why it could not work. They're just so easy to ship together. Also Is Lou Lou an afghan hound? I don't know if you stated that somewhere or not, but is definitely how i usually see her.

Remy did remind me of Amstrong, too :3 When I knew Kizzi had a brother, I also knew he needs to look like a Victorian era stronfg man. Remy is based on a model Mighty Mustache, who can be hired to play roles of a Victorian strong man for any events.

I don't know yet how Kizzie's and Alrick's story ends but I'm on a positive mood :3 Erin on Webtoon comments came up with the ship name, Kizzrick, so let's keep thumps up for Kizzrick!

For Lou-Lou, I saw her like that in my head so her design isn't something I came up with alone. Having said that, I always try to think Cross from an old anime series Ginga Nagareboshi Gin whenever I'm drawing Lou-Lou. (amazing series, super recommended! Really kicks off once Gin joins the wild dogs)

Is Ginga a good show? I love his design, he's probably my favorite Ultra, but I heard it that it's meh at best.

If you believe in what they say you'll think it's a dreadful series, it's not, it's an average series, but the finale was good tho. I applaud them for doing a okay series overall with the budget of 2 popsicles.

If you want to watch it go for it, there's only 11 eps, the suit and main theme alone makes it worthy, then you can watch Ginga S which is better overall

one property i think roxy (and possibly chica) would be into would be the ginga / silver fang series by yoshihiro takashi. he has several other dog mangas they might enjoy too but they're notoriously violent and action-packed, so i think chica would love it but roxy would have a love / hate relationship with it because "YAY COOL CHARACTERS THAT FIGHT AND ARE BADASS" to "i'm sobbing because my favorite character is dead"

You're so right Roxy would ADORE this. She gets attached to canine characters, and especially ones that look closer to wolves so this looks like it'd be FULL of blorbos for her lmao she'd love it probably!

Chica loves her violence but I dunno I can't see her getting hugely attached? Maybe this is her Thing for a few weeks but it's more an interest in the background for her that she happens to know everything ever about because Roxy sometimes talks in depth about it for several hours with her. Or she's decided the bear is her favourite or something lmao "He's like if Freddy was mean!" She says and Roxy likes to joke she'd take the main villain that kills her precious dog blorbos over Freddy too.

Maybe Chica reads ahead and tries to warn Roxy of someone dying to lessen the blow... And then it just doesn't and Roxy knocks on her door in tears over it anyway. She tried :(

I still think Decker is the worst series of all the New Gen.

Decker was a true mid for me, 5/10 which was the rating I gave last year iirc

Nothing was done that was neither really good nor really bad

Mainly its cause unlike Trigger, there's nothing really to expand upon since Dyna but to create a whole new story. And we knew Masayoshi was directing it, which also previously directed RB, which is probably the worst NG series imo (excluding Ginga s1 as a special case of course) so going in, I already had the expectation that the series has to hit the notes mainly on fight scenes, rather than plot

And true to my expectations, there is an improvement since RB, but of course in the grand scheme of things, it's still mid

Highlights iirc were the crossover episodes (Especially bringing back the Dark Giants, which is a significant contribution to the greater lore going forward) and of course the Dynamic Type arc

Tho it had the best NG movie imo, an NG alien invasion plot done right without any cringe content. Additionally, it contributed potentially one of the most significant aspects to the overall lore, that being Ultras having the ability to create whole new other ultras (wrote like 2 essay posts on it to emphasize just how significant this new development is to the lore as a whole)

RB was the worse for me, iirc I actively avoided watching the episodes until days later and sometimes even dreaded them, from cringe, awkward dialogue and acting, bad plot developments like Aizen leaving so abruptly, Saki being angsty without context and O50 reincarnations inconsistent with previously established O50 lore from Orb (specifically with the VoL), Asahi revealed to be the embodiment of the Makoto crystal? What? And why???

Also the Movie's theme was very forced and messy with introducing Toregia whose main theme and character motivations didn't really synergise with the concept of "family", so it's like watching a 2 different movies squeezed into 1, so much that the developments are non-sequitur. Which is obviously apparent since the movie WAS trying to link 2 unrelated goals, that is to introduce Toregia as a character and to make an RB Movie

After 6 years, I still stand by my opinion that they should've just done the RB Novel in live action instead of whatever we got for the series as it was far more interesting, serious and more consistent with the O50 lore that Orb established. Especially peeved that they wasted Saki as a character in that department since her character motivations were more solidly built in that context. But alas, as long as TsuPro continues to aim at children as the main audience, we aren't likely to get something like the Novel.

Also, because Asahi is still my most hated character in NG due to how cringe she is on virtually every single time she appears on screen. I distinctly remember just either mentally shutting off or just skipping past her dialogue, especially during rewatches.

Ginga s1 is obviously the special case since it was basically the franchise's hail mary attempt made with very low budget anyways, so it's understandable. Therefore no point really shitting on it at this point

So Decker at this point is the 5th worst NG series for me. But again, it's the true mid series for me as well.

1.) What I like about it

kyoya/gingka is a ship that's very iconic and they're so real for that, but also i don't think about it very often. i'm an enjoyer but prefer other kyoya pairings over it? if that makes sense djdjdjjd and i don't think of gingka in romantic contexts often. kyoya always going for gingka throughout the entire series is very funny though. like why are you thinking of another man all the time?? you want to beat him?? ermm...ok...

2.) What would have made me like it more

if anime kyoya was a little more like manga kyoya (basically just a little nicer and more friendly with gingka outside of their rivalry). i've only seen bits of original Manga, but Manga-kyogin solos Anime-kyogin 3.) Is there an unpopular opinion/Anything positive to say about it this is probably bcus i dont activley ship it and look for content of them but im going to be real i don't know what their dynamic would be like.... fanart is rlly cool though. got a whole surplus of that !!

was your early on love of canines influenced by seeing the ginga manga/censored cartoon as a kid? i find an odd number of finnish kids grew up w it

Nope. Probably the only person in my school who didn't, I remember the boys of my elementary class playing monster bears inspired by the anime, but boys were dumb and I wasn't interested in them or their murder plays.

People usually assume I must have been a Ginga fan since obviously all Finnish dog artists were, but I honestly just thought dogs were cool.

Mind you, I have since seen the series (a friend of mine, horrified to learn I'd never seen it, arranged a marathon viewing of the uncut DVDs, though I most clearly remember the overall mood in the room of the eight hours with no breaks. It was fun!) and once they started translating the original manga in Finnish, I collected it just for the heck of it, but by that point I was already in my twenties.

We're rebooting ancient Ginga OCs of mine today, boys!

On the left is Ame, but his old version was called Nizinny! He was originally a Ginga fan-character who looked like a scarred clone of Weed (down to the same shade of blue). I even made an episode of his own series "Ginga Densetsu Nizinny" on YouTube back in the day, using recolored screenshots of the GDW anime. Nizinny himself wasn't related to Weed, actually, but rather a close friend and ally of his.

I haven't really thought of this "reboot" design much, but I do know he's no longer a Ginga character. I think he may be a pet dog who escaped and went to live in the wild? Not sure, though.

On the right we have Zuru (originally named Zuzu), another one of my many Ginga OC's back in the day. He actually looked pretty much like Silverthepuppy's Leafe, but a different shade of a green and with a different scar. 

I decided to reboot him into an Akita mutt. His markings (originally the very standard Ginga bear dog urajiro) are now a bit different and inspired by Reika and Fuji from the Densetsu Weed/Nagareboshi Gin anime respectively. I also decided to make him gray (with still a very slight hint of green to him) and green eyes. His scar has also changed shape a bit. I no longer have any art of his original design but honestly that's probably for the better since it was an eyesore and also just a ripoff of another person's character. But I was 12, give tiny me a break lol.

I plan on possibly re-using Zuru in Soldiers of Beyindt if I ever get to said story!

Last movie (in theaters): its not really a movie, but if it counts, the first ginga nagareboshi gin stageplay (recorded and released in finland in theaters with subs)

ginga was always huge in finland for some reason. idk. the anime is so violent though that i got really afraid of bears for some reason. theres so much blood... i never read the manga either i just knew of the anime and partook in my share of wolf roleplays (dogs were uncool! so i didnt do dog roleplays. iirc that really was my reason).

other than that im trying to proofread the chapter of my ryanyuri fanfic i already published because theres a lot of typos and strange sentences in there but its been a chore bc my body breaks down when it gets too warm smfh... not looking forward to when my apt goes over 30 degrees celsius it is unlivable. im also trying to complete a “lookbook” of my tnb sims. but i always start huge projects that take three million years to complete and im really slow lmfao

How much of New Gen Ultra have you watched, and of the ones you've seen, where would you rank them?

now that ive finished decker ive seen all the television shows! theres a few movies i havent seen yet and i still need to catch up on ultra fight, but out of the main series I guess I have these tiers.... if i had to write it out in terms of personal enjoyment itd probably be x = orb > r/b > z = geed = trigger > decker = ginga s > taiga, ginga

in terms of Quality in my Estimation itd be x > orb > decker = r/b > z = geed > trigger = ginga s > taiga = ginga

just fantastic television that I love: x and orb. these two to me are just some of the best tokusatsu shows period. x is the platonic ideal of ultra and orb just has fantastic characters and generally is a really fun time. I couldnt pick between them.

less cohesive but still really good and im obsessed with them: r/b, z, geed, decker, trigger: in terms of quality i think decker and r/b are the highest on here but the ones i think abt the most are probably trigger and z. a lot of these had a few weaker moments than x or orb but really good characters who live rent free in my head.

i enjoyed but less than some of the others: taiga, ginga s, ginga. taiga had a lot of things i really liked but had too much other stuff going on. ginga s was really fun but not one i think abt a ton? and i thought ginga was just ok (sorry to the ginga fans out there).

My yt channel ain't THAT popular (12.5k subs) but like...I am SO glad I got those subs for my original webseries content and not being a warrior cats animator. No offense to anyone who does, I just want to have a big focus on my original stories and content and less of fanart. Initially i wanted to be yet another warcats animator like allikatnya and whatnot

Tbh if there's any media on my channel ive made a lot of fan content for its balto 2 and ginga lmao.

And nowadays im pretty disconnected from warcats. I still read the books to review them but not much else. I dont have much love for the series left outside of le classic first-arc nostalgia. I sold 90% of my warcats books (physicals at least) last year. Probably going to sell some of my WoF books as well as I feel largely the same towards that series as well

I like Fullmetal Alchemist (+Brotherhood), Ginga Densetsu Weed, and Deadman Wonderland. I've watched a good deal of Attack on Titan and enjoyed what I saw, Girt and I eventually just drifted into watching other stuff.

Do you have any siblings? If so which one of them do you get along with the best? Yeah, a few. I think I get along best with Nicole, my youngest sibling.

Do people think you look like either of your parents? Does that offend you? I've heard both. As a child I remember hearing I look like my dad wouldn't really offend me, but I didn't like/get it until I was older. Not all physical traits are gender-specific.

It was very difficult sometimes, especially when we really wanted the comfort of each other's presence. It got much worse once we actually met in person and got to feel what being together was like.

Are you scared of losing the person you like to someone else? No, not really. I acknowledge we may not be together forever, but I certainly don't expect him to cheat on me. He's BEEN cheated on and was very affected by it, so it'd be a wild world where he did that to me. Early into our relationship we shared dealbreakers and cheating was one for both of us.
