They meet in the park, Aziraphale tells them what the plan is for raising Jesus 2.0 and that he had to tell Miriam the good news himself, because Gabriel, of course, is out of reach. He consistently convinces Crowley to cooperate by bringing up all the things that Crowley loves and would not want to lose (Bentley, plants). Offended, Crowley refuses ("Nothing lasts forever angel, these are your words!"). Aziraphale at least suggests lunch at the Ritz. Just like in the good old days. The devil reluctantly agrees.

The Show Must Go On episode review (Hazbin Hotel S1 finale)

Did the title of the episode strangely remind anyone else of the failed videogame “Showdown Bandit”? Anyone?

Charlie wishing her mom was there. Likely foreshadowing her appearing near the end.

Looks like we got a glimpse at how Niffy sees the world, which is apparently similar to Randy Cunningham when as the Ninja.

Gross, Adam’s personality is rubbing off on Lute. Even Adam is getting uncomfortable with it and considering its Adam that’s saying something.

The Heaven Bucks things sounds really fake, mostly cause I feel like money doesn’t exist/is necessary for Heaven.

WHAT THE HECK ARE THOSE OUTFITS CHARLIE AND VAGGIE ARE WEARING!?! And why am I getting She-Ra/RWBY vibes from them? Also Charlie is wearing her crown, cute.

I’m intrigued by Charlie’s shield cause I was kind of expecting to see Charlie use her pitchfork along with it, but the shield is still a nice bit of symbolism for how she wants to protect people and not harm anyone…that much. It also shows that she and Vaggie are a great team/couple as Charlie is the defense while Vaggie is the offense.

My fellow DEATH BATTLE fans (which is hopefully a lot of you) get ready to analyze Charlie’s powers, skills, and feats in this fight!

Al’s shield being another feat of how powerful Alastor is, though I wonder if his recent deal with Charlie helped with it?

Aww come one Niffty finally has a chance to go all psycho and all we see is her just stabbing corpses!

While Charlie’s crown is black on the outside, its gold on the inside/other side. Not only do I think this is a Dante’s Inferno reference (it reminds me of the hypocrites’ part but reversed) it also symbolizes how even though she is the daughter of the Devil, Charlie is still a good person.

Alastor’s using shadow jutsu!

OK I DID NOT SEE AL’S VOICE CHANGING after his cane got destroyed. At least this explains how those times I noticed his voiced changed in previous episodes.

Valentino was really saddened when Vox said seeing Alastor about to die was better then sex XD. It’s also funny cause there is a similar line in Netflix’s Castlevania series, which I could definitely see fans making parodies of soon.

Wait WTF is going on now with his voice? Ugh.

That’s our Charlie, even when in a war she is still apologizing. Also her glitter is WAY more effective than Dale Gribble’s pocket sand XD

Also if you slow down the scene enough, you can see that Charlie’s shield damaged and dented the angelic spear, meaning its likely made of something stronger then the angelic steel mentioned by Carmilla in “Hello Rosie”

NO NOT THE EGGBOIS! Luckily Angel finally used his secret set of arms to save one of them, we even get to hear his theme song.

Aww this can’t be goWHAT THE FUCK! I couldn’t even finish writing this sentence because of how fast Pen’s death was! I mean it was implied he was going to die but I thought it be more dramatic than that! Can the Helluva Boss writers at least do this for when they finally kill Striker, or have it happen in my episode idea where Moxxie and his father in law do it?

OOO ITS TIME FOR CHALIE’S DEMON FORM. And in a Sailor Moon kind of way too.

WAIT THAT’S IT? It’s just her regular horns and a tail. The writers really need to amp up these “full demon” forms of the characters as this, Ozzie’s, and Mammon’s forms have been really disappointing to me especially when compared to Stolas and even Helsa’s odd form from the pilot. I hope that this is some kind of semi form or one of many transformations of Charlie’s, and her REAL demon form is something more monstrous but it results in her losing control.

I do like Razzle and Dazzle being dragons, as I did recall them having such a power but this is better than what I was thinking they’d transform into.

DAZZLE NO! At least he died protecting Charlie.

VAGGIE VS. LUTE ROUND 2 (ding ding sound effect from episode)

(Adam slaps Charlie) Again we need fanart of Lucifer and Lilith kicking Adam’s ass.

So a part of me likes that Vaggie spared Lute cause it shows she is better than the so called “angel”, but a part of me knows this is going to bite back later on.

Lute riping her own arm off just proves the previous statement. Still I wonder what a cyborg angel will be like.

SO Adam is wearing a mask, like I brought up before. I wonder what he looks like under it.

I’m not mad at Lucifer coming in late, cause he likely couldn’t as he probably realized it would just lead to more problems involving Heaven, but again he shows that he is the best dad so far in the series by coming in to save Charlie. Take notes Stolas!

Huh, Adam looks pretty normal looking, even looks a bit like Lute. I was expecting something really ugly under the mask like a pale complexion, sweat, and an unshaven face especially since he has worm that the entire time we have seen him.

OH HO now were getting that Adam ass kicking. Too bad that line from Lucifer kind of ruined it. I mean I can kind of see it being on brand with his goofy personality but still.

Again no one is saying Lilith’s name here. Also I know Lucifer is likely joking about him and Eve being together and just referencing the apple, but I really want to hear Lucifer say he’s only been with Lilith for all his life, then took a break after the divorce.

“NOT THE HOTEL”, is what I would be saying if the trading cards weren’t released early. Still devastating to see.

Like when Adam was choking her, Charlie had the means to save herself there as she is confirmed to have wings. Maybe their waiting for a special occasion to use them.

(Charlie transforms) What was that? At least this confirms that Charlie can transform and confirm that hoove/foot idea I brought up in the last review. I wonder if this is some kind of power from her mother?

Okay Lucifer’s demon form is pretty good. This does make me wonder what that shadow thing of his form the pilot is, if that is still canon. Hopefully it is and it confirms that Charlie can have multiple demon forms.

Holy crap they killed Adam off and Death by Niffy no less! I mean I wanted Adam and Lute to get out of the picture so someone better could take the role of angelic antagonist, but I never thought they would just kill Adam off. At least Vaggie is really happy about this, and I don’t blame her XD. It’s nice to see her smile like this.

Again we see that Lucifer has restraint, which is still interesting.

Lute took his halo. I sense some trouble coming from this. Fingers crossed that it involves how Heaven is okay with Adam being gone, and Lute becoming the thing she hates to destroy Hell AND the “traitors” of Heaven.

I’m still mix on Katie Killjoy being voiced by Brandon. It is making me wonder if Katie was always going to be like this or if they’re altering her to be more like Brandon’s female characters like Bryce. I mean I always though Katie would have a role where she just keeps spreading bad things about Charlie’s hotel, even making things up/ hire others to cause trouble for Charlie so the news can keep reporting on her. Heck she is even thanking them which I never saw pilot Katie never doing through she could be doing it to save face on livestream television. It’s still a funny idea and it has even remined me that there was a time in animation where shows had reoccurring characters whose main thing about them was being obvious references to other fictional or even real characters like Total Drama had characters such as Harold being a Napoleon Dynamite parody and Anne Maria referencing Snooki, Dr. Orpheus from the Venture Bros. was a cheap Dr. Strange knockoff (but still really funny), and there is one character in Atop the 4th Wall that I won’t spoil here cause it’s that crazy, so check it out for yourselves when you can.

I also wonder if the Exterminations will be put to a halt here as pointed out in the sliding text on the news channel. It would be interesting to see if Hell really does have an overpopulation problem, and what that would look like.

I’m surprised the V’s aren’t reacting to this more, more so with Vox but it’s likely that he saw the fight with Adam and Alastor and now has a plan on destroying Alastor. That would be cool to see in the next season.

So it looks like Alastor DID care for the others, but now he is dedicated to getting his freedom back from what I still think could be the Lilith imposter who will also be an upcoming deadly force/threat

Yeah Vox and Val are definitely going to use this news for personal gain. The real question is if Velvette will aid them, as her recording them say all this feels like she will try and go out on her own, dragging her allies down in the process. Fitting given her song from “Scrambled Eggs”.

Nice song, great that both Sir Pentious AND Dazzle got memorials, and the new hotel looks amazing as it has a little bit of symbolism from all the others like Husk’s casino vibe and Angel’s career.

PEN IS IN HEAVEN! Emily is loving it while Sera looks confused and scared, BOTH cause she has never saw this happen before or knows that this will kick off some serious consequences like a version of the Armageddon prediction. This is great as now even if the recent fan theory of Emily becoming a fallen angel happens, Charlie now has another ally in Heaven to help spread her redemption plan on that side of things, great for what I can see happening in the next season.

Oh hey everyone its “Lilith”. Yeah I still believe in the “Imposter Lilith” theory that I’ve been talking about lately, and the sunglasses bit adds to it since it is hiding her eyes, like how her face was covered in “Dad Beat Dad”. Plus there have been many times in stories where sunglasses were used to hide something in fiction. Also in the past, we’ve gotten info on her saying how she would like to fight against Heaven, so its odd that she would want sanctuary in it unless she has plans that involve her being there. The biggest clue would have to be that the real Lilith would likely have cheered when she heard Adam was dead. I did talk about how the Imposter could likely want to destroy everything, so for all we know she is pretending to be Lilith who wanted sanctuary in Heaven (if they even know she is there) which is all just a ruse to get info on how to destroy Heaven to fulfill her life’s work and if anything ever happens, the Imposter can rely on her servant Lute and the Exorcist to aid her.

I will admit that it COULD be the real Lilith. I did make a recent post on my Tumblr going over how I think Lilith actually recruited the Imposter to help her take down Heaven a peg a long item ago, but she eventually realized the Imposter had bigger plans that involved destroying everything in existence and Lilith has since been trying to stop the Imposter. At one point things could have gotten so bad to a point that she had to hide in Heaven (again if they even know she is there) until she thought of a plan to stop it like having Lute work for her (again maybe Al works for the Imposter) and similar to what I have in my “Season 1 is a test for Charlie” Lilith knew Adam wasn’t up for the task of defending everyone from the Imposter, so she had to install Lute as leader of the Exorcist so there would be at least a small capable army to fight against the Imposter/upcoming threat if things got bad. However now that Charlie’s redemption plan is getting more support and is proven to be true, Lilith could be scared that the Imposter could go after her and Lucifer next, so I think next season she will try and convince Charlie to stop her goals until they have a plan of stopping the Imposter. Maybe since she made a deal with Lute, she has no choice but to stop Charlie or risk losing the one chance they have at saving everything from the Imposter…until she learns that her daughter was able to make an army to stop the Exorcist which could lead to Lilith changing her mind and maybe think that Heaven and Hell should work together to stop the Imposter/big threat. Even then there could be consequences as we don’t know what exactly happens if a deal with a demon is ever broken. Would said demon die or would the natural of the forces of the universe go crazy until something happens? For any non Percy Jackson fans and those that don’t care about spoilers for it, look up “Trials of Apollo” and “River Styx” to get an understanding of what I mean by broken deals.

That was a GREAT episode AND a great finale for the first season of Hazbin Hotel.

We got tons of action, drama, suspense, fanservice, and mystery just like how I like my shows. The finale was really good cause its on track for what I’ve been saying I would like to see Charlie go through when it comes to the next step of trying to convince the people of Heaven and Hell her redemption plan is a good thing in general for the afterlife.

The only minor problems I have with it is that they didn’t utilize Niffty as much as I thought they would in the battle.

When it comes to the season as a whole it was great, with episode 4 being the worst as we all knew those events were coming but thanks to Helluva Boss it was made less serious to me.

I also agree with other fans that biggest problem the season had was that there should have been more episodes. I mean people know how popular Hazbin Hotel AND Helluva Boss is so it’s a bit odd that they didn’t get more then 8 episodes, especially since they aren’t the usual hour long episodes that are everywhere. Not to mention how half the season came out all at once here on Amazon Prime.

Apparently this is a big problem with Amazon Prime shows in general, BUT luckily given how well received the whole season has been (wordplay pun not intended), I’m hopeful that this will convince the people at A24 and Prime to give Vivzie and the HH cast more funding to make MORE episodes for next season, like maybe 14 this time. Sure this could delay the release of season 2, which is apparently already being made, but I bet I’m not alone when I say I’d be okay with such a delay if it means more Hazbin Hotel.

Hopefully next season though there are less trailers and clips released, another reason why there should be more episodes to help dimmish such things, AND if there is another early release on A24 it should just be like 2 days before the season comes on Amazon Prime and NOT a whole week.

I’m also calling it now that the season 2 episode premiere of Hazbin Hotel will start with a news segment with Katie Killjoy and Tom Trench recapping some of the events of last season and telling us what has happened to both the characters and Hell/Heaven since the finale. I also predict that Lilith, whether the real one or the Imposter posing as her, will appear at the end of said episode starting off that season’s main story.

I definitely want to hear your thoughts on not only this episode, but also on the entire season so don’t be shy. What do you think/hope will happen in season 2? What kind of episodes or stories would you like to see in the next season? What theories do you have?

He made another fucking list! There is another piece of paper taped to my wall! I am officially starting a bidding for this man, the starting price is 1 dollar. I walked into the living room to him sitting on a couch looking at the paper and he kept saying ‘I’m missing something’ Apparently my brother is the dumb version of Nancy Drew. The list is about Ben and the drugs and how that will play into s3 and obviously Britin as well. I did have to reveal to him yesterday that he is on steroids because my brother was convinced it was cocaine. Now I’m wishing I didn’t. So this is what he wrote on it. It’s split in half and the top half is called Ben+steroids and the points he made are: -Ben goes to rehab and the season revolves around that to try and make him less boring, -Ben gets Michael into steroids but that’s just dumb, cmon (his name) you can do better than that, -Ben ODs and we are back to debbie hating him, -he loses his job and itll be embarrassing for me to watch -they use this to write off the actor but then Mike becomes annoying again, and my all time favorite -it was just a trick bc in reality what happened was Benny gave that guy a lecture about Buddha. So that was all on the ben part. The Britin part is him trying to work out his previous theories: -I don’t think the reverse sugar daddy thing will happen, i mean he has a 30k worth car. -Justin will wake up one day and look up and see that goatee and dump him immediately, -okay so Justin is not gonna cheat with Brian so maybe Brian does something really cool which leads to Justin realizing he is the one, -or Ethan does something even more boring than simply existing and Justin has a wake up call. -maybe Bri can get him to do more posters for work and thats how they connect again through the love of sex and art, -BRIAN ADMITS THAT HES IN LOVE AND FUCKING SAYS IT! With his full chest! And makes it romantic but not too romantic so that he doesnt freak out. And in a very very small letters he wrote in the bottom ‘it’s still fuck Ethan till the day I perish!’

So that’s what the new addition on the wall is now. Dramatic and dumb just like he is.

Also i genuinely cannot believe you have people coming to you about the fire house thing he said. I will admit that even I have had moments where i go ‘damn, he just spilled some tea’ while he’s talking, meanwhile this idiot is 60% pain pills while he is blowing my mind with random shit he says.

The funny thing is that that fire house is kinda our “inside joke” minus the joke part. When he was little and i did something bad that i would think my parents would kill me for, he would calm me down by saying ‘the house is not on fire’ basically trying to reassure that no matter what, all is okay. So it kinda became our thing and then every once in a while he would do something dumb (like get rainbow hair) and i would get a call/text that just said ‘the fucking house is burning the fuck down!/the bitch is on fire and it’s blazing!’ And that was basically a ‘take this as a warning that I pissed them off’. And when i mentioned that the next day, this dumbass couldn’t even fully remember what he said. He remembered it all except the water part which is annoying cause that was the part i wanted him to clarify. I swear to God we are (kinda) functional human beings. It just doesn’t look like it right now.

ALSO!! We might actually get to the break up tomorrow! He wants to watch 4 and 5 today sooo we are getting closer!!

Hopefully he won’t be disappointed with the Ethan-cheating storyline. I dislike it (I want Justin to choose Brian and nonmonogamy because he decides Ethan and monogamy are not a good fit for him, not because Ethan cheats) but also the “Brian never had to apologize” line is iconic and I think your brother will like that.

Okay but that’s a sweet story about how he would comfort you as a brother by telling you the house was not on fire. I love that that line was from that.

I find the difference between Ed and Stede so fascinating. Ed, who feels like his whole life went downhill after he killed and who wants to run from his life as a pirate, versus Stede who has been taunted for being weak, who wants to prove his strength and become a proper pirate. They are progressing in opposite ways.

"See, that's why he likes you. Because of your bumbling amateur status" I wonder if Ed feels like he corrupted Stede, sort of like Stede was afraid he ruined Edward at the end of season 1.

Izzy the killer being like "Give him a minute. First kill is always a mindfuck." and Edward going to check on Stede anyway, makes me wonder when Izzy first killed. If it was for Edward or if it was on his own. And if it was for Edward, if he checked on him, because I think probably not. And judging by the way Izzy stares into nothingness as Ed goes to check on Stede... yeah, no.

I have a few theories in regards to Lisbon's hairstyles across the seasons.

I was looking at a few GIFs and I was wondering.

How come that Lisbon changes her hairstyle so much? Like, a different hairstyle every season? Or actually, multiple slightly different hairstyles every season?

It's true that the show spans over 5-6 years, but it's still a lot if you ask me. I've had mostly the same hairstyle for 3 years now and aside from a few minor changes, it's stayed the same. For comparison we also have Grace, who has the same style all thorough the show except for 6x09 and all thorough the end when she decides to get bangs. (More or less. She alternates between straight hair and curls but that's it)

And I started to think of it both from the watsonian (in character) and the doylian (in show) interpretation. Mostly because it's funny to think of Teresa Lisbon at a hair stylist every year, asking for a new hair style a new fic idea is cooking up oh no

(Putting this under a read more because this is getting longer than I intended.)

The watsonian interpretation would be that Grace is more of a...conformist. She finds something that she likes and she sticks with it and it's fine for her.

By contrast, I don't mean that Lisbon is an undecided person, but rather that this is her way of rebelling. She is the one that often has to enforce the rules all thorough her life. And I don't think she minds too much, but there's still a part of her that is wilder and wants, like Jane, to say fuck the rules and fuck conformity. (Although it's not like she goes Too Wild, like...spikes or shaved head or stuff like that. At most we have the Bisexual Haircut in S1). Or perhaps it's a way that shows that she doesn't like routine, she needs some variation in her life (proven by those years between 608 and 609 where she worked as chief deputy in a normal police station or whatever she was)

The doylian interpretation is the one that intrigues me. Does the hairstyle change so much because Robin is one of the main leads? (Moreso than Amanda). Is it because she's insanely gorgeous and we deserve to see her in many styles and thirst over her? Can there be an association between this small detail and character development across the show?

And I started to think about it. I found this brilliant post having most if of her hairstyles.

What if there's a connection between her emotional availability in which season?

At the start of the show she has pretty open hairstyles, wilder hair and no bangs. She starts wearing bangs (and straight hair) regularly after Bosco's death. (Correct me if I'm wrong) and she wears the bangs consistently. As far as I can see, she starts letting go of them in season 5. (After Jane tells her he loves her). Towards the end of S4, she has...sidebangs, her forehead is less covered compared to the previous eps.

In parallel, there is a flirty energy between Jane and Lisbo in Season 1. (Or at least a willingness for intimacy) There is much less of this energy once Bosco dies (And the bangs appear). Sure, there are still some scenes (almost-confessions and little shows of jealousy), but they're more Jane-directed-towards-Lisbon than the reverse. She has a one night stand with Mashburn but that's all it is. She's really more open towards Jane at the end of S4, asking him to let her help him (and having her forehead pretty clear in the last 2 episodes, only a sidebang). And then...I think in S5 it's the season that she's fully aware that she's in love with Jane and accepting it (ergo, no more bangs).

I don't know if this analysis stands on its legs at all, but I am curious to hear your thoughts on it.

Hello! Thank you so much for the love and the kind words! 🥰🥰💜 So, in an interview to Mr. Porter from 2017 Pedro said his last relationship had been three years before, which would make it 2014. From that, we can understand he wasn’t dating anyone in 2015/2016, at least not serious. That said, I was still curious to see what the cards would show us about this time of his life, so I asked your question. The Major Arcana were Strength, Death reversed and The Hanged Man.

Oh, well. Strength means he was possibly taming and subduing any feeling he could have. He wasn’t open, he wanted to master his emotions and not let them flow, even if they were strong. He was holding back a lot. Death reversed points to him still stuck on something from the past. He couldn’t let it go, he couldn’t move on, so he could definitely not start something new. The Hanged Man (oh, him again!) shows us he was, once more, holding back, suspended, unable to deep dive and hesitating.

The Minor Arcana were Page of Pentacles reversed, Ace of Cups and King of Cups. Page of Pentacles reversed with Strength points to him feeling stuck, or insecure, lacking motivation, unable to commit and avoiding making any effort for it. He tamed his emotions, so he was stagnant and lacking any will to pursue relationships. Ace of Cups with Death reversed is interesting because he could not let new love begin, he could not let it flow, because he was still stuck on something (or someone) from his past. If love knocked on his door, at that point he would not open. The Hanged Man with King of Cups means he needed to allow himself to deep dive and let go of his uncertainties, of whatever was holding him back, because only then he would be able to reach emotional maturity and be able to let love in.

So the cards do show this man wasn’t dating anyone because he wasn’t open (as usual). And the funny thing is he probably did have flings and hookups that could have become more (these Cups cards) but he runs from commitment like the plague.

I even asked again the same question and this time, the Major Arcana were The Hanged Man (yep, again!), The Hierophant and The Devil.

Okay, so you already know The Hanged Man is suspended and hesitant, holding back. The curious thing is The Hierophant is a card that can represent serious relationships and marriage depending on the context, but this time, given the other cards, it makes me think Pedro is VERY stubborn in his internal “laws”. He decided he would not let love in, he put himself in suspension, and he followed it like gospel. His beliefs, his ideas about the way he would live his life were very inflexible when it came to that, his “way” was his “law”. And what did he do? The Devil points to him being horny instead, having casual sex and flings while avoiding feelings. This card is not always about that, but in this context, yeah, the man did surrender to the carnal pleasures, lust and desires, or at least that’s what he was open to.

The Minor Arcana were 9 of Wands, 3 of Cups and Ace of Swords. 9 of Wands with The Hanged Man is almost redundant. It’s hesitation and holding back because you don’t think you can pull it off. 3 of Cups with The Hierophant means he was having a really good time, partying, going out with friends, maybe having different sex partners, but having fun above everything, and that was his “law”. Ace of Swords with The Devil shows us he had things very clear in his mind about what kind of “relationship” he wanted. He was rational and he started things with people knowing it was all about lust, probably letting them know that too.

So, from Pedro’s words and from the cards, he was not dating anyone, but he was most likely getting some action…

I also think he might have healing powers, with him being referred to as a cleric regarding dnd (but also a wizard sometimes so hmm but i think its more that will the wise is a wizard whereas mike sees will himself as a cleric- and mike as a paladin- and so that would align w will having cleric-like powers). 2.) Absolutely. I feel strongly that we will totally see new monsters, and that one of them is going to be some sort of weird dragon creature, like what Nancy mentioned about a huge creature with a gaping mouth. 3.) THIS IS A GOOD QUESTION: I think it could go either way but seeing how the school gym's been converted into a relief centre for the time being, and how the storm was approaching the characters at the end of s4 and how the duffers talked about jumping right into the action in s5, I don't think they'll be in school because I feel like a.) theres too much happening and b.) story-wise, the duffers have already set it up in a way where them not going to school isn't a plothole/their absence wont really be questioned because even though the whole town doesn't know about the supernatural side of things, they DO know about the earthquake destruction. 4.) HMMMM I can't say I'm absolutely certain of anyone's death except for Vecna's (and even then i wasn't really certain of his until they had Will emphasize that they have to kill him and then thought more about the ways in which Henry's tied into Will's narrative and why he's gotta die/Will deserves to kill him), but I'm starting to wonder about a steve death considering that fire and rain, a literal song about death and mourning and suicide (which could tie into steve sacrificing himself and getting himself killed), played during steve's six little nuggets speech. I'm also definitely starting to lean towards the idea that Mike is going to die briefly and then come back to life because a.) s5 is seeming like it's going to tie back to s1 in a lot of ways/parallel it, which means that since will was the one who seemed to be dead in s1 and mike was searching for him, the roles will likely be reversed in s5 and b.) mike has too many death flags waving about his head for him not to die in some way but I can't see them killing him permanently. 5.) IT WOULD BE SO COOL IT WOULD BE AMAZING I WANT MIKE TO GET BACK TO DOING THINGS BC USUALLY HE DOES DO THINGS LIKE HES SMART HE FIGURED OUT THE UPSIDE DOWN AND THE HIVEMIND BUT SEASON 4 WAS MOSTLY GAY PINING TM FOR HIM SO HOPEFULLY IN S5 HE GETS TO GAY PINE WITH A SWORD!! 6.) I don't think that El will die in s5, I think that in a metaphorical way, the identity of "Eleven"/that superhero persona that's been forced onto her is going to die by the end of it once everything is saved and she has her independence and freedom! In regards to El's eventual death because she is a human being after all, though, I like to think that she'd be somewhere after living a long life, surrounded by people who love her in a place that makes her happy!

I think also one of the things they're trying to do is examine toxic masculinity from both of these different but ultimately not so different lenses. The first one is the obvious one, solider boy and those views on men being this exact thing and how that is still prelevant to this day in some places and factions on the opposite side you have the modern men who are like we're feminists we respect women bla bla and how a lot of the time that ultimately turns out to be bullshit and when it comes to them feeling emasculated and like they're not men and not doing the protecting etc they turn out to be the exact same thing. Butcher is a monster no doubt about it but he's always been and especially this season perfectly clear about who he is and what he's doing not only to himself but to everyone else and in his own way he still cares for Kimiko and MM as shown by his worry for her and his conversations with him. He also reminds me of Homelander in that he's a equal opportunity piece of shit I don't think he has the same hangups as Hughie who ironically might seem more progressive etc. Butcher wants to kill all supes and thinks they're trash whether men or women, be also had Kimiko with her powers and just used her as weapon I don't think her gender even registered with him. He has a mountain of other issues but surprisingly this is not one of them I think.

Exactly Butcher, while a representation of some version of toxicity in that he pushes everyone he cares about away and has to have things done his way, is being misidolized by Hughie in this moment who is misinterpreting how he acts as the rough-shod action hero who saves the world, kicks ass, and despite acting like an asshole everyone still loves him (despite MM, Kimiko, and Frenchie all doing their best to leave Butcher behind because - if they had the choice - they'd be anywhere else). Butcher is secure in who he is and he hates himself because of who he is, meanwhile Hughie doesn't know who he is anymore so he's clinging to an idea of who Butcher is and thinks that will make him deserving or worthy of respect and love when, in truth, it will only lead to the opposite.

Butcher and Homelander have always been two sides of the same coins, although with Becca gone and the introduction of Soldier Boy, I don't think there's been as obvious of parallelism going on as say Soldier Boy and Homelander, and Butcher and Hughie, Soldier Boy and Butcher, Homelander and Hughie. It's there in their interactions with Maeve but I feel it's been a bit subdued comparatively to season 1 and season 2. Butcher's got more going on than actively hating Homelander, and vice versa.

To your point about the reverse of the Soldier Boy presentation of toxic masculinity, I do think it would be funny if Soldier Boy gets reintroduced and basically becomes like this sketch from SNL, Girl at Bar

Major ships I want to write this year:

1. Lokius

I think about Lokius still to this very day. I just need to see them on my dash and it's like, oh, and immediately I'm thinking how they should be together and how it needs to be canon.

In terms of fic writing, I have a good few things I want to write for them this year. (Funny how we say, "write for them," like it's a gift to them, but anyway.)

I need to look at what ones I want to have written and published before S2 comes out. It's a ticking time bomb.

I haven't forgotten about the wip.

Sorry, I kinda got distracted by other ships for a bit. It happens, I guess.

2. Jaskier and ?

I'm definitely going to write more of Jaskier because I love him so much. I'm a big Geraskier shipper. There's lots of angst that comes from the show to feed off of with them as a pairing.

I've also fallen in love with writing Jaskier with fanon Sam the Baker and also with Eskel. So, my list of possible pairings for him is growing. (He's a lover; what did I expect?)

A week ago (I think), I wrote about Jaskier and the Countess de Stael, which isn't something I thought I would write, but I did.

I expect to write more pairings because if my boy can't get his witcher, he's not going to be single.

3. Steddie

I have 6k of an outline for a ghost fic already and I wanna write it. I need to tweak the outline a bit and then just write it.

Plus a good few Steddie one shots that's are half written. 🙈 They will see the light of day at...some point.

4. A yet unknown OFMD ship

I've signed up for the OFMD reverse big bang, so who knows what I'll end up writing and what pairing. I'll find out fairly soon.

Also, with the next season due this year, I can only assume I will want to write more.

I do have a priest AU Blackbonnet fic I started and then didn't flesh out at all. The dust has firmly settled on that one, I think.

5. Atreidaho

I really want to finally write my Atreidaho fic idea before Dune part 2 comes out. I'll probably only write this one thing for this ship and then that's it, but I feel like I need to do it.

6. Priley

I haven't forgotten about them. I want to do more/finish my wip, but I also want to explore my headcanon that Riley left the island because he couldn't stand not being with the priest.

My many CFV X Yugioh ideas

Duel Monsters

One of them is the one I’ve been talking about recently. Basically it has the Vanguard characters being a part of the Yugioh universe. There’s no Vanguard they all play Duel Monsters because the whole Yugioh universe revolves around it. I’m going to talk about it more as I post about it. It would eventually go on till Zexal.

The other one is actually a protagonist swap. Basically with Aichi as the protagonist of Duel Monsters and Yugi and Atem as the protagonists of Vanguard. It would go all the way into 5Ds because Aichi doesn’t just vanish like Yugi😅. Though he’s not as involved in GX and 5Ds. I thought it would be cool for Emi to attend Duel Academy for the GX portion.

5Ds

It’s kinda based on Reverse of Arcadia Aka Yugioh WC2010. Basically Aichi is kinda in the role of the protagonist of that game without absolutely cucking the other 5Ds characters. For those who don’t know your protagonist has basically been captured and brainwashed by the Arcadia movement later escaping. While Aichi is missing his friends are looking for him and participating in the main plot of 5Ds. Aichi would be taken because I imagine in Yugioh, Psyqualia would be some strain of the psychic powers. Also he gets his deck back after finding it locked away in the Arcadia Building because Yusei having it like the game makes absolutely no sense. Also I thought it would be funny if Aichi had a card that would be mistaken for a signer dragon😂.

It’s because of this funny moment in the game where the other characters think your the last signer. To make them not look like complete idiots I decided to give Aichi this. He will be using Infernoble Knights in this since they are more synchro focused. Honestly in my other story I could give this to Yuyu😂.

Other things on the agenda of this story:

-making Rua (Leo) become a signer when he was supposed to

-Ruka (Luna) actually being relevant to the plot

-No side lining Akiza or Carly

-screw Crow he keeps his original planned role

-also Sayer actually gets to come back

-rewriting the second half of 5Ds except Crash Town it stays

-maybe Yugo and Rin? Their inclusion isn’t for a particular reason I just like them and would like to include them. I think a very interesting way to introduce them could be through them being antagonists in the second half or earlier 👀. This would be like an reverse Arc-V legacy character situation. Basically it wouldn’t be the same character from Arc-V but they’d be really similar. I have had an idea of a story like that for awhile. I could roll that in so I have an excuse to include Yugo my favorite Yugioh character🤣.

Zexal

I actually have two ideas for Zexal one is similar to the Duel Monsters one I’ve been talking about. Except it has the characters exist in Zexal. Aichi ends of moving to Heartland when his Dad gets a job there allowing him to not have to work across the planet in America. It’s a bit awkward for Aichi since he doesn’t actually know his dad well and he is still hoping out hope of meeting Kai again. Though, he tries to make the most of it its a fresh start after all. He ends up meeting Yuma after he sees him looking at his Blaster Blade equivalent and hyperactively challenges him to a duel. Then he’s adopted into Yuma’s friend group. The other Vanguard characters appear later in the story at the beginning it’s just Aichi and his family.

The other is an isekai taking place near the end of the Asia Circuit and in late season 1 of Zexal. Basically the void and Don Thousand end up colluding together. Aichi, Kamui, Misaki, Kai, Ren, and Chris are forced into the Zexal world with numbers. Aichi and Kai are like the only ones who aren’t possessed at the beginning. Aichi is trying to free everyone and go back home to save Blaster Blade with the help of Yuma and co. Since Noble Knights act as the Royal Paladins naturally the Infernoble Knights act as the Gold Paladins.

Poor Aichi be like “I just want to save Blaster Blade”. Now, he has to deal with all of this nonsense 😂. Aichi also has to avoid falling under the control of his own number card especially since their amped by Don Thousand and the Void.

It’s the villain swap one I’ve talked about. Actually it’s the first one I ever talked about. It swaps the void and Zarc. You can look under my Arc V tag to find my old posts about it.

I LOVE BOB'S BURGERS I LOVE IT. Im in the middle of season 4 but I went back to episode 1 because I didn't remember that was also Mort's debut, I UNDERAPPRECIATED HIM. I love how short he is I also love how short his legs are,, LIKE FURNACE I MIGHT ADD. because furnace's torso is disproportionately long. I LOVE HOW HE... STANDS... WITH THAT SMILE....... I LOVE HIM. I also rewatched weekend at Mort's. I think it's my favourite season 1 episode and it's ABSOLUTELY because of Mort. But also because that episode is SO GOOD literally every scene is such a good joke, and also because season 1 had a formula I got sick of that's just the plot happens because Bob keeps saying "no we're not going to do this", season 2 thankfully learned from this, and that's why season 2 is my fav! But weekend at Mort's also breaks that and I love it for that. FAV PARTS OF THAT EPISODE GO:

I love Louise's SMILE. SHES NEVER SMILED THAT WIDE AND I FEEL IT. I FEEL IT.

Mort saying he'll look over the kids... I LOVE IT WHEN HE DOES THAT SO MUCH... I CANT EXPLAIN IT. I love this 50s year old man. I love how he hesitates, and then agrees, I love his cheap dead furniture,, I love how he's the oldest one in the room.

THE WIG JOKE. My friend got me "down under" (video game) for crimmy and I've played it with them for a bit and their fav character had dialogue that says he hates bald people I wish I could clip "wigs can be scary" and send it to them and be like. SWOMP. I love Tina's noise.

I love how. Malleable Mort is, how he gets the date. SO FUNNY. THE FACT THAT HE CALLS IT SILLY, THAT ITS THE KIDS IDEA. UR 50 MAN and you're letting these children control your dating life ok.

THE WHOLE BABYSITTER SIDE PLOT START... GOLD.., ITS ON FIRE. TINA LITERALLY TELLS HERSELF TO SPARKLE ON ITS SATURDAY. HER VOICE. HER VOICEEEEEE. HOW SHE ASKS GENE IF HE WANTS TO PLAY OR SING A SONG. SHE SOUNDS LIKE A WITCH FROM A CLASSIC FAIRYTALE. HOW LOUISE PULLS HER ASIDE, EVERYONE HATES HER. ITS SO FUNNY. GENE'S LITTLE NOISE IS UNREAL. I have to rate this boob joke a 10/10 on a scale of all boob jokes.

The hug. I love how uncomfortable Gene is I'm sorry Gene, and how much Tina likes the hug, especially when Gene's the one who likes hugs. I'd say role reversal but Louise is the one who hates hugs.

I forgot the rest of the episode i'm gonna say the stuff I remember

I love Samantha and Mort they're so good. Mort is so good I love how nonthreatning he is. Take a sip anytime they say something bad I LOVE THAT. I don't think Bob's discomfort is written flawlessly in this episode but it's pretty decent and understandable, I just wish Bob puts in a bit more effort compared to Linda to be positive in the relationship though, it's always the man in cartoon relationships that's lacklustre. I still love him

How Linda says the song Jimmy's singing about their menu is "their song"... yes... YES

LINDA'S SPEECH THING ON THE MICROPHONE. I've seen this trope a bunch where the woman takes the microphone at a restaurant and in cartoons that's usually the climax of the episode and she "ruins everything", so I LOVE how freaking silly and lowkey Linda's speech is. ITS GREAT AND FUNNY. I do feel bad for Mort though that's people He invited to Samantha's date.

I LIKE HOW BOB ALMOST GETS CREMATED..,, I often try to predict plot points in movies and shows, thankfully not to an extent that ruins the fun, but to an extent where I can gauge how predictable the story is when thinking about it in the future, I fully expected Linda taking the Mic to be the "big moment", and then when that wasn't the case for Bob to get saved before they turn on the incinerator,

Bob's speech after almost dying, not perfect because it took me a rewatch to fully comprehend it but,, ITS SO GOOD, ITS SO GOOD. I LOVE IT SO MUCH I LOVE IT SO MUCH I LOVE IT SO MUCH, HIS SPEECH IS SO BAD I LOVE IT. when he came back to Linda that was great I loved that.

One critique. what happened to Samantha. WHAT HAPPENED TO SAMANTHA. I NEED TO KNOW I NEED TO KNOW. WHAT HAPPENED TO SAMANTHA.

Random Hanadan/BoF Shitpost

After hearing that Love in Flames of War, a republican era cdrama had Hana Yori Dango/Boys Over Flowers/ Meteor Garden/ F4 vibes... but eventually failed to deliver on that front I rambled at @dangermousie​ that, actually, we SHOULD have a Hanadan version of every genre of cdrama.

 No...wait...I’m joking...but also not. My reasoning for this is solid:

 1) No matter what you thing of Hanadan and all it’s objectively toxic and dated glory, you can’t deny it is a hallmark in the history of shoujo manga/anime/asian drama/ live action adaptation/remake pumping machine. It paved the way for all the ItaKiss, Fated to Love You, etc...and it is still to this day a nostalgia magnet for an easy cash grab with each remake (also the latest one might be the best lol).

 2) *Surrender by Cheaptricks plays in the background, talks in “there is no war in ba sing se” mode* There are no new ideas in media. Everything is a sequel, prequel, remake, reboot, retelling, soft reboot, parody, homage, the same thing over and over again but call it by another name (it’s still a rose, yeah Shakespeare, you’re a genius, congrats!).

 3) Let’s face it. Dramaland is going through the lowest of lows. Cdramas are bad and boring, Kdramas are scarce and boring and Jdramas are 10 ep cute little intros to the story you really wanna see that’s about to begin...at the end of ep10, last episode, no 2nd season. So, they might as well try Every Hanadan Set Everywhere all at Once.

 So, without further ado, introducing...every genre of Cdrama Hanadan (with crazy plot eggs for some and none for others bc I say so):

Starting with contemporary…

1)      Reverse hanadan where the fl is a rich asshole and the ml a poor little meow meow

2)      Time loop hanadan

3)      Modern Fantasy hanadan (sort of like the beginning of Bulgasal but more petty and less angsty lol)

4)      Transmigration low budget web drama romcom hanadan

5)      *barfs* modern office corporate romance hanadan

6)      *barfs again* gaming hanadan

7)      Sports hanadan (aka if HanaKimi wasn’t genderbender or cute but toxic instead)

8)      Coming of Age/ Youth to Adult Married life Hanadan 

Syke! Too late! There is already an OG classic toxic Hanadan of this Genre, it’s called Itazura na Kiss (and it’s my guilty pleasure, my personal hanadan lol)

9)      Ice sports hanadan....yesss...get gory with the bullying with ice skating blades muahahaha. The red card locks her on the ice rink and they oil the railings/plexiglass around it so she can't even climb out and she nearly freezes to death. They rope her to the back of a zamboni and drag her through the ice. While she is trapped on the ice rink, they rig a bucket of water to fall over her so she freezes faster.

Now for the period dramas…

10)   Republican Era hanadan

They could use the boat scene ending from the finale of the anime as a convenient plotpoint to escape the republican era without dying in the republican turmoil. "Oh, they just reunited dramatically on a boat post amnesia and went abroad together and missed all the political fatal shit and lived happily ever after. Their kids returned to China and lived happily under the great CCP rule (/s)!

11)   Palace hanadan

It’s hanadan meets legend of Ruyi where he is the Crown Prince but the Empress Dowager holds all the power and on some humiliation move has him take a barbarian slave as a concubine...and the red card is that it's open season on her from every noble or regular consort of his harem and his friends in the court...all is fair the only rule is she cannot be murdered, everything else is fair game. So she is beating to the brink of death, poisoned daily with agonizing pills only to be given antidotes at the last minute, drowned, flayed, etc.

12)   Wuxia hanadan. Similar. Dude is the leader of the jianghu, declares her a demon bc she offended him and has all the pretentious righteous sects go after her with agonizing Gus pushed on her body, plenty of chains, kebab her in multiple ways with stakes in torture chambers to cast out the evil.

13)   BL Wuxia hanadan. (this one is just here by popular demand. Mine. No, I will not elaborate on that).

14)   And at last…my personal favorite….drum rolls… Xianxia hanadan (here is the plot):

She spilled peach wine on his cloud robes once by accident before the Great Heaven's Ceremony so he scribed her name carelessly on the stone of the doomed as petty revenge hoping she'd get some bad karma. But at the time the Demon Overlord was fighting the Lord of Fate and the Dijun on Kunlun and as they made their final strike the demon overlord turned into a cloud of heavy miasma that swirled away swiftly for miles and landed on the stone of the doomed. Hence, for the next 10.000 years the calamities and heavenly tribulations of every god were transferred into the unlucky FL.

In the first 300 years, the gods were unsure of what was happening, but soon word spread of a small menial demigoddess who seemed to be getting an abnormal amount of calamities and trials and yet never ascended into a higher level god. But other gods were getting past their fated tribulations dates without experiencing the event itself but still ascending afterwards. Soon this bizarre phenomenon was being gossiped throughout all the heavenly realms and the gods were rushing to get their hands on every magical item capable of moving forward their tribulation dates... After all, who knew how long this free meal would last? So it follows that our female lead spent the next 10.000 overbooked from torturing calamity to the next without a break or a reward.

Our cloud cloaked protagonist came to learn of this business about 500 years into it. It was not his intention for the karmic payback to be that harsh...but then again it was his best cloud vest that the annoying, insignificant little demigoddess had ruined...and if the consequences had been that rough, who was he to question the Great Design. He soon forgot all about it, surely none of that pesky matter would come back to bother him...

10.000 later: Our fuming fl finally had enough...after experiencing every form of dismemberment as a human, for eons, though she didn't collect an ounce of heavenly grace to ascend to higher goddess....she sure damn well accumulated enough yin to form a monumental grudge...and she would use all of that energy into one single punch for a certain cloud clothed god that would send him so high the gods would finally know what lies above the heavenly realm...not that he'd get the opportunity to tell the tale.

Reset (cdrama)

Just finished Reset and it’s my fav cdrama of like...the whole of the plague years?! I haven’t even liked any cdramas this year, barely tolerated a few, but this? this was flawless. On every level. Better than most western dramas of its genre. They have a cool concept, keep it simple, add only necessary elements and the attention to detail, character building, etc is on point. The acting is good, the leads especially, subtle but detailed, their chemistry is great and it’s one of those dramas that keeps you on edge for every minute of it. Did I mention I love the main characters? smart and good people, yet not annoyingly perfect. They mess up (the whole drama is trial and error) sometimes in impulsive ways, but never in unbelievably dumb ways. Perfect length too (ok could have been 12eps instead of 15... but still, excellent runtime management coming from a cdrama!). And most of all...it doesn’t F*Ck it all up at the ending. Do you know how many of the few dramas I almost reaaally loved (not liked, not tolerated, actually loved) while airing turned out to have such a shitshow of an ending that ruined the whole thing? Probably 90% of them... it’s a thing, cdramas have terrible or mediocre endings by definition and then only a few miraculously escape that fate.

I predict the tumblr craze for the next weeks is Netflix's the bastard son and the devil himself. It's a story between two rival clans of witches that are brutal and try to kill each other (ones are sort of cannibal too, the others succeed in the genocide of their rivals from their country) and the mc is the son of a mass murderer for the other side, raised by the rival clan and constantly abused by his half sister who is a psycho who wants to kill him. Also along the way he runs away with the daughter of that clan's leader and they both fall in love with a bi wizard who helps them escape.

Supernatural+rivalry+gore+threesome mc relationship? This the the most tumblr thing ever.

Unless his klutzy side is concerned, or the unholy mob of bugs is down to attack him again, we know Taemin is acting damn smart, and thinking even smarter. He won’t try way, way too hard to impress this person only to fail miserably. As a seasoned entertainer, he knows that stress is a performance killer: In every sense of the word. Finding some balance and being appropriate in the bedroom atmosphere is more important to him here. Pretty clever because he knows how much he’ll still need that energy later. Don’t ask for what, you’re already suspecting it. Strategy, alright. Flailing his arms, pumping his chest, going all crazy shaking his ass in all directions only to run completely out of steam after merely five minutes? Doesn’t look good on anyone. And: Doing that is an insult to how he can expertly conjure his concert stamina when he doesn’t (!) go that raw from second one. Taemin would rather slow dance like he did in MOVE than go buckwild like in IDEA, twist his legs and arms into a knot or something. No backbreaking: Yet. As his body’s intelligence will tell, fast doesn’t have the right sensual energy and isn’t very Lee Taemin-like. Especially the Taemin in private, anyway. It needs measure and shifting back a couple gears, it’s not the MAMA awards at home. He moves without the relentless exhaustion (10 OF WANDS not reversed = depleting yourself) that you see some male strippers exhibit. Less muscle play, more swaying of the hip. Taemin has no plans of embarrassing himself by being out of breath entirely like a fool. It’s not so sultry if his partner gets all riled up only to unwrap a sweaty reeking mess. He’s well aware not to be showing off with that kind of arrogance. Stomping, humping, jopping the floor and whatnot. He knows he still can give his 100% without treating foreplay like work and duty. Instead of ‚I’ll give it to ya‘, it’s a ‚just give it to me‘ kind of feeling, and that’s just right on brand.

⊹ QUEEN OF PENTACLES — Continuing with the take it slow, make it practical theme here. I’m getting the serious impression that Taemin will use his little dancing display to fully spoil his significant other in some way or another. They might be treated to a lap dance, sitting down and holding something dear to you on your thighs is a central imagery on the card. Taemin is not above just sitting down on someone to do his thing. And again, he won’t do funny shit, nor experiment at random. He probably planned all of the dance. This is the type of scenery where Taemin just waltz steps out of the kitchen with some food to, and hear me out, casually feed you like your mom friend. And I’m only half joking, because this card is the mommy rather than the daddy (aka the KING OF PENTACLES). It won’t surprise anyone that Taemin is 1) delicious and 2) the ace of making more traditionally feminine choreographies and silhouettes his very own. The sheer androgyny already goes without any saying or forcing it. If his partner has a favorite girl group signature dance, Taemin will portray his rendition without a blink. And nothing super eccentric and bold in style here, either. The smooth operator is here. The whole reading is giving some chilled-out, baby cheese duckling kinda mood rather than being aggressively thirsty. No outdoing each other. He might think of this as a light activity, make it fun, be at ease. But it makes sense, he shows his relaxed, no-pressure environment side; Taemin hates to be nervous or be grilled by expectations. He knows how to dance professionally the best after all and channels all the sexy image on camera: Taemin is toning it down and catering to one person instead of the whole world. Loyalty, loyalty. The QUEEN OF COINS stays at home to create a feast there, she won’t go clubbing and prancing and dining elsewhere. This card is not fire, water, air, but grounded and replenishing earth energy. Fire twerks, water uses flexibility, air does full-on jumps, but earth is more about the stable movements. Comfort is the word here. He’s very comfortable to express himself in front of someone when the blinds are closed.

⊹ SEVEN OF WANDS (reverse) — The exact same sentiment, and reverse wands all over again. It’s like all of the cards are perfectly coherent, which is not often the case because people and situations are so complex. But with this one, I can see the overarching answer being clear. Taemin seems to adapt his erotic dancing to what his one-person audience requests back and forth. It’s about breaking down the tensions and mental barriers between them as a couple, rather than exaggerating their differences, creating polarizing roles, and him putting up a tough exterior. He’ll be like come on, Kkoong is watching us, and Key will scold me if I’ll act all haughty-naughty. Asking the cards, we all expected unhinged BDSM fireworks and got a vanilla candle instead. It’s sweet, man. Fluff lover Taemin has no qualms being overly romantic here, if there’s such a thing as overdoing it. The reverse of any wands shows that he has a habit of lowering his guard too quickly, but any romance Taemin fancies will turn out well. A defensive-looking manly man has no place in his relationship, he doesn’t need to be aloof or tough on his sweetheart. Nor want to be, because this card carries with it a tone of, I’ll do what you desire, and I surrender. I show myself in a vulnerable state (big topic here). I didn’t expect the reading to turn out so soft but here we are, and it’s only logical. Taemin leaves his edgy, hard angles idol image on stage where it belongs, and takes a few steps back in his more domestic matters where his dancing becomes a lot more mellowed. He won’t grab his partner and pin them to the wall while there’s CRIMINAL blaring from the speakers, but will caress and choose piano music. A poet, not a warrior. No bucking hips and crazy footwork as if he’s ready for battle, but fuzzy outlines and effortless poses. The spread is overall promising of a good and laid-back time that’s not too serious or provocative, and I’m liking the thought of Taemin showcasing that easy-going side of him.

Are you confident Bughead will be endgame on this show? That’s literally the last strand I’ve been holding onto, but the thread is weakening. I really can’t believe that they would take this ship, their absolute most popular and loved one, and just end it like this forever. I am so angry with the writing!!

Hey there, anon! It is unbelievable, isn’t it?

What a tricky question you ask! confidence + prediction + the Riverdale writers ... As Jughead would say: yikes!

The thing with these writers is that they use a lot of words without knowing their meaning. “Endgame” is one of them. “New” is another. “Exciting”. “Darkness”™. “Adult stories”. “The message”…

Dangling the bughead “endgame” carrot at the end of one or two seasons of no bughead or -worse- of b*rchie and j*bitha f.e. is not an endgame. The general definition of endgame -outside of chess- is: the last stage of a process. If the process (i.e. the season’s content) isn’t about bughead, then bughead coming together at the very end is not an endgame, it's a peripeteia i.e. a sudden or unexpected reversal of circumstances.

In shipping, endgame is a couple that will inevitably end together (for ever and ever and ever). In order for something to be inevitable, you have to create that sentiment, you have to build the couple up.

There’s an article about the misappropriation of the word “endagame” that I find particularly funny, as it starts by mentioning Riverdale!

Anyway, this is a long-winded way to say that, yes, I do believe that the show will end with bughead and varchie as their main canon couples. It’s just that, like you, I’m so very tired with these story lines. There is satisfaction to be had at the notion of endgame but a seasonful of investigative bughead would be infinitely preferable. For me (and I can only speak of myself) the journey is more important than the destination -even if for the simple reason that -in TV show time- it lasts longer!

Why do I think bughead is still … that word? Everything’s under the cut, so as not to clutter your dash!

1. A lot of people have been theorising that what happened in 5x18 was not the original plot. I agree.

Let’s start with 5x18 varchie.

Their break up came completely out of left field. Its unexpectedness is reminiscent of 4x17. I make fun of how s5 is a reboot of s1+s2’s leftover ideas, so another copy-paste shouldn’t feel out of place, and yet … really? Another repetition? To what end? If the season’s goal was not varchie, b*rchie was already there waiting at the beginning of the time jump! Why abandon that plot? In terms of romantic varchie time, that was extremely limited, since after their kiss in 5x7, Veronica’s divorce kept them apart until 5x17 … Why have Archie being extremely jealous of Chad, Veronica getting involved in all of Archie’s schemes (firefighters, bulldogs), Archie getting involved in Ronnie’s (rescuing daddykins) or Veronica telling her father she chooses Archie over him in 5x17? Also, for those who remember, there was this by the-writer-who-shall-not-be-named.

The reason of the break up is as ludicrous as Veronica moving into Archie’s childhood bedroom (with its effing slanted roof!) on the premise that long term the Andrews’ residence has more room! (By the way, I don’t know what surprised me more: that Veronica thought that Archie and uncle Frank would know who Ina Garten is or that Jughead didn’t.) Why is Veronica astounded by Archie’s involvement in the same activities he has been involved in all through the season?! For f***’s sake, she’s the one that gifted him the fire truck!

Ok. Now let’s give 5x18 j*bitha a try.

For me, 5x18 could either have gone bugheadwards or j*bithawards. J*bitha had some heartfelt talks, a hand touch, a hallucination and a kiss. Bughead had one unfinished heartfelt talk (the only one in the whole season for Betty), two shoulder touches, two hallucinations and Jughead attempting to reconnect with Betty (without specifying what his intent was, it's true).

While I do think that j*bitha is a ship that has been adequately teased, the way they were explored in 5x18 was … not underwhelming exactly (after all, they’re not my ship, so I didn’t have any expectations about them) but … maybe lukewarm is the word? They had but minimal dialogue, only enough to establish that Tabitha’s parents were in town. Then a song where Tabitha initially rejects Jughead, although she had been supportive before. Then another song, where the lyrics were heavily altered and didn’t make much sense anyway (we hadn’t been properly introduced to the Tates) but where the original lyrics were very compatible with Bughead’s history and state of being as of 5x17. The kisses were ok, I have no problem with the actors’ chemistry. But -and this is strictly a personal opinion- Jughead’s flirting scenes (not the make-out ones, you perverts!) with Cora were better and so was the j*bitha kiss in 5x10. For the 5x18 j*bitha to flow, more dialogue and more flirting was necessary (always a persona opinion). So, no, I don’t think j*bitha were supposed to sing what they sang in 5x18.

Production for s5 wrapped up one week after the official announcement of the 5 special episodes for Riverdale and The Flash: “we expect it will take us until Fall 2022 to get back to a regular schedule” was the official quote. Re-organising the cw’s overall schedule didn’t happen overnight. Yes, more likely than not, the writers knew about the specifics of s6a before shooting 5x18-5x19 and had time to re-write them.

2. The couples spoilers for s6 do not make sense plot-wise.

If the end-goal for 5x19-6x1 had been b*rchie, j*bitha and v*ggie all along, these were pairs already happening (except from v*ggie) at the beginning of the time-jump. As for v*ggie, last time we saw them, Veronica pulled a face when she heard that he had had (still has?) an affair with Hermosa. And what about Nana Rose?! (ok, that was a joke! ... or was it? 👀)

The majority of both the fans and the general audience are bugvarchie shippers. Teasing b*rchie and j*bitha as a means of maintaining the viewers’ interest in a will they/won’t they way, only works if the audience finally gets what they want. In this season. Not the next one! There is so much trolling one can take after all. In the space of 1.5 year (4x17-5x19) b*rchie will have been teased ... THREE times (and still lacking build-up)!

I cannot myself see b*rchie, j*bitha and v*ggie as endgame couples. For the audience to invest in them after 4 years of bugvarchie, the writers have to a) give j*bitha an absolutely incredible development that will surpass bughead and the cinematography to go with it (good luck with that) and b) undo Archie’s character (highly unlikely) and/or give Betty a lobotomy (at which point a lot of people will quit en masse, because Archie as The One All The Girls Want just doesn't resonate with the majority).

I have no idea if s6a is an AU or not. But if it’s not, no one will be left to watch 6b.

Can I guarantee a bughead endgame? Of course not. I have no idea how the minds of the Riverdale writers work. But I do think that Jughead and Betty getting back together is more than wishful thinking.

what did cody said about klave?

Omg Anon okay so, twitter user umbrellaacademy invited Cody to do a twitter space with them which they did yesterday (8PM Friday EST) and Cody stayed for OVER TWO AND A HALF HOURS answering fan questions and saying SO MANY things about Dave and Klave and I am still so overwhelmed. I have recorded it and I’ve sent the video to the host and they’ve said they’ll release it soon (although the file is massive so I suspect they’ll have a bit of trouble wrangling it like I did so it might take longer). In the meantime, some highlights under the cut:

- Dave’s favourite thing about Klaus is his openness. He’s charismatic because he’s unafraid to be himself. Cody also finds it endearing that Klaus marches to the beat of his own drum.

- He likes the idea that the briefcase brought Klaus to Dave because of fate/destiny. Dave is the missing piece of Klaus, he fills a void in Klaus. He’s as interested as we are to find out if the timeline loops back in season 3

- Dave is soft spoken. There are qualities of Dave that have grounded and soothed Klaus but also Klaus has pulled Dave out of his shell. Klaus’ openness was like an invitation to Dave to open up and be goofy and strange, and this was a vibe Cody got from Robert as well in the bar scene, but then the dynamic shifted later and he felt that Dave was the one who was opening up first.

- Dave would go with Klaus to be with his family. He would want Klaus to take the reigns and would trust Klaus re- what kind of life they could have together post Vietnam. Although there would be no hesitation from Dave about his love for Klaus, there might be hesitation about planning a life together because of the time period they were in. There’s a sense of peace and wanting to settle from Klaus. Cody just basically being solidly on the Klaus bringing Dave back to 2019 to meet his family train.

-  There is a sensitivity and self awareness to Dave, Cody thinks he accepted his sexuality but just was careful about advertising it because of the time period. He also says that his Dave in season 1 didn’t have the experience we saw in season 2 with his uncle and that might have made him more open (I am staring directly at my reverse George McFly theory).

- Dave’s love for Klaus is unconditional, he loves him for exactly who he is. Dave’s unconditional love is a foil for the conditional love Klaus gets from his family. Klaus doesn’t really know what love is and then he gets fired this laser beam of love from Dave.

- Cody that been in a play where his character was in a relationship with a guy but he thinks Rob hadn’t done that before. The director set the tone that the kiss scene was an intimate and tender scene. He feels like there was a reassurance from Dave to Klaus in that moment.

- Dave was holding 4 shot glasses in the scene where he’s holding them with both hands. 

- Cody describing Dave in 4 words - kind, sensitive, empathetic, soft. Dave would describe Klaus as free spirited, open, unfiltered, unexpected (he also put forward chaotic but didn’t stick with it and replaced it with unexpected).

- Dave’s first thought when he woke up and saw Klaus was “Is this a dream... We’re not sleeping much so this could be a dream, I wouldn’t put it past my brain” Also “The dream coming to reality but maybe not necessarily looking like what he thought.”

- He thinks Klaus probably took the dogtags off Dave after he died as a way to remember him rather than them exchanging them

- He wants Klaus and Dave’s storyline to end with love prevailing. He also floats the idea of Dave taking a dark turn and Klaus has to be the redemptive person to bring Dave back.

In preparation for playing Dave he watched the Ken Burns Vietnam War documentary series on Netflix and also looked up online about the Vietnam war. He also listened to music he thought Dave would be into from 1965-1968: He mentions Motown and Stones (Cody said he himself likes Motown)

- Cody’s favourite thing about Dave is the quality of how he loves Klaus. He describes it as pure and unconditional and simple and he talks about he thinks people need to love each other fearlessly - not just romantically but in friendships as well, especially with what’s happening now (and this sort of clarifies to me why he was talking about love over fear so passionately in the clever klaus q&a and what he meant by that)

- Cody is a fantasy nerd

- He would love to see Dave giving Klaus some agency

- He thinks that Klaus has some guilt about Dave’s death

- He would like to play a Commission agent (Commission Dave rights!!)

- Robert is very open and unassuming and funny and it was easy to have an immediate rapport with him. Cody also talked with Tom Hopper (about their mutual friend Bradley James). He also briefly met Colm and Robin and he also remembered he met Aidan (who here had a theory about a deleted scene with Aidan in the attic?)

- He doesn’t know how time works in the afterlife or how Klaus’ power works but Dave would have waited 50 years for Klaus

- Calem joined the space and they said that they hadn't interacted before but they had a bit of a chat. Calem said that his filming in season 2 was 4 days but about 1 month apart. Calem’s internet kept cutting out and then he disappeared.

- If Dave was one of the 43 children his power could be the care bear love blast and he could fire hot beams of love out of the hole in his chest. He would give Dave a more passive power to round out the more active powers the other Hargreeves have, like a healer

- The scene in the tent was filmed at the studio. The scene on the bus was shot outside. The scene in the trench was partly shot outside but some of it was shot in the studio as well (I wonder if he’s confusing that trench scene with the hallucination at the Rave though?)

- He said the scenes were beautifully lit (I beg to differ, Cody!)

- Klaus helped unlock that part of him (I think he means Dave’s sexuality) and he also says that Klaus was a very specific target to Dave’s love. Klaus seems like one in a million. When you love someone there’s something specific about them that pulls that out of you.

- Calem returns! He was in his room where the internet crapped out on him but then he went downstairs. Cody asked what it was like for Calem to come in and play an established character. Calem said he purposely didn’t talk with Cody about the character before playing him because he’d done the audition without knowing anything about the character so he didn’t want to risk doing something too different from what he’d done in the audition, but he did watch season 1. He also said he was a bit anxious about what the audience would think of him playing the character, and Cody went into acting mentor mode and said that he doesn’t think the job is about appeasing the fans but about trying to be as true as possible. He also said that Calem did a good job and he shouldn’t be hard on himself but Calem then said that he quickly got over it and he wasn’t thinking about it on set, just afterwards. Calem mentioned that he creeped Cody’s IMDB and he said that his dad was a camera operator on Lizzie Borden Chronicles this Cody guest starred in an episode of.

- Dave loves music like Cody. He mentioned Four Tops as another band and then Motown again. He thinks the bar scene shows Dave’s love of music but he wasn’t thinking about that at the time.

- Dave would be overstimulated at first if he came to the future because we’re bombarded with a lot more stimulus than in the 60s. The internet and iPhones would blow his mind. He let’s a “we’ll see” slip, which he then quickly corrects to “we would see”

- The kiss in the bar was definitely the first kiss and he thinks it happened a couple months into the tour. He thinks the feelings were mutual quite early, but that it would have taken some time to act on them and to be able to gauge if each other were really giving off the signals that they like each other.

- He’s appreciative of the fan love and he tries to make a connection with everyone he can

- Dave is an optimistic force who thinks that love will prevail so he would have wanted to do something to make it work despite the obstacles they faced

- Cody doesn’t know how close to the vest Klaus kept the stuff about his powers and the time travel etc but he did see Klaus appear so he does know there’s something strange about him. Dave trusted Klaus and even if it wasn’t explicitly talked about there was enough trust to go “wherever you go I’ll follow, wherever that leads.” When Klaus conjures Dave, Dave is excited to see him but isn’t really surprised or put off by any of the circumstances that Klaus is in.

- He thinks that Dave is more the listener of the relationship, but he could certainly see Dave telling Klaus about Dune and Klaus indulging him.

- Rob is very genuine, very unassuming, very immediately open, very funny, definitely puts you at ease, incredibly thoughtful, very considerate, good dude (wow it’s the complimenting Rob speed run! 8 in a row!)

- The aspect of Dave that Cody connects to most is his non-judgemental quality

- Dave would connect with Vanya’s softness and Luther’s moral compass (he said Diego’s moral compass in the cleverklaus q&a so not sure if he just mixed them up). He thinks Dave might be a bit too sincere for Five and Ben would appreciate being able to unload Klaus on Dave.

- He thinks Dave is not a tattoo guy but Klaus is impulsive so getting a tattoo really aligns with his personality. He thinks that Dave’s actions speak louder than words written on him

- He connects to the fractured family theme of the show on a personal level

- Dave being jewish was something he only learned about through looking at the dogtags, it wasn’t in the script or anything

- Dave might have studied Philosophy if he’d gone to college instead of joining the military, he feels like there’s a dreamer quality to Dave

- Even though Dave was pressured into joining the military, he thinks that Dave believed he was going the right thing by enlisting

- Colm is a Canadian Hall of Fame actor and Reginald is such an intense character so Cody would love to do a scene with him. He would also love to do a scene with Elliot.

- Cody remembered waiting on set to film the scene in the club and he, Rob and Tom were in an 80s hotel with a heart shaped jacuzzi (??? oh was this the set with the Handler and Agnes maybe?)
