I am absolutely chuffed to see such an enthusiastic response to the Detective AU proposition. I've already started writing it before I get round to publishing anything there are somethings I wanna get in the clear and some things I wanna ask you guys.

So first, Disclaimers and Announcements:

This is purely a piece of fiction. Any resemblance to real living people dead or alive is a coincidence.

This is hardly a 'fanfiction'. It's an original piece of fiction (neither part of any general 'fandom' nor deriving from any previously established piece of work). The characters are 'casted' as real people as one would do for a film or a TV series one is writing

The story will be broken down into a bunch of separate but inevitably interconnected mysteries and adventures. Maybe I'll end of making it like those "new episode new adventure" thingies but it's too early to say anything!

Non-badass male characters. I'm talking wet, sopping, physically weak and emotionally vulnerable. They need the gals to save them. (Yes I'm pushing some strong feminist agenda here)

FAQ i just made up on the spot:

What is PoE/What’s it about? —It stands for Pirates of Etheria, which is a play on the Pirates of the Caribbean title,,, i am not very good at titles but i was too lazy to change it so that’s what we’re sticking with atm, but basically i like SPoP and i like PotC and my brain said teehee and combined them and i have never recovered from that high, it’s self-explanatory this is just what if lesbian pirates,,, i am a clown of simple taste

Where can I read it?—it’s in comic format bc i woke up one day and chose to torture myself! so it’s still very much a work in progress but the first chapter is gonna be uploaded and linked and so is the second, which is halfway up on my twitter and will be here as well as soon as it’s finished :]

Is there an age rating/any content warnings I should know about?—My plans for PoE is for it to mostly stick along both the plotlines and the maturity rating for PotC, which is generally inclusive of some PG-13 content (not recommended for children due to suggestive scenes, violence, you get the gist). Each chapter will include a content warning for any sensitive content, though generally speaking i’d wager it will be a relatively SFW read :^]

When will you finish it?—bro i am just doing this for The Vibes idk i’m rly slow

So is it a crossover or just a pirate AU, or…?— ……yes (longer answer: it's not really a crossover AU in that you won't be seeing PotC characters gallivanting around and interacting with the SPoP crew, but there are elements from both sides of the source material that form the plotline for this one, as well as references/maybe the occasional Easter Egg,,, but yeah it's kinda just a mix!)

part one of my obsession with Spidey Steve

Modern au Spidey Steve where the Hawkins gang live in NY and Steve gets bit in high school which becomes the catalyst to his good guy redemption arc along with his brutal break-up with one Nancy Wheeler. Accidentally adopts Dustin and the Party when he helps rescue Mews from a ridiculously tall tree.

He ignores his powers and tries his best to hide them until one fateful night he's in charge of closing Scoops with his mean lesbian co-worker who absolutely hates his guts. One attempted armed robbery and two concussed assailants later he's gained a platonic soulmate, the only other human on earth who knows his secret.

With Robin's help Steve experiments with his superpowers and Robin pushes the Spider-man agenda (although Steve thinks webs are a little too on the nose) and makes him functioning webs he can swing with (he'll never admit it to her but swinging quickly becomes one of his favourite things to do ever).

Dustin finds out when he breaks into Steve's room one night to show him Cerebro but promptly drops the entire duffle bag when Steve comes crawling through the window, sticking to the ceiling in full Spider-man garb. Appoints himself communications and gadgets specialists once he gets over the initial shock. Steve's vigilante alter ego slowly gains popularity in Queens.

He gets cut-off after almost failing high school but still has the keys to the big ass apartment he grew up in and a full-time job at a movie theatre with Robin. Steve drives the Party home after late night DnD sessions with the weirdly intimidating, hot super senior (he's already had his bi crisis/awakening/whateverthefuck so he has no problem admitting it), has movie nights and sleepovers with Robin, even makes it up to Nancy for his assholery. He thinks he's doing alright, atoning for his bitchy persona in high school, fighting crime and being a (moderate)standing member of society.

But Eddie Munson, president of the DnD club, protector of lost sheep, doesn't trust hot or rich guys. And Steve Harrington is both. He doesn't understand how King Steve has the loyalties of the coolest lesbian, half his own goddamn club, his valedictorian ex-girlfriend and said ex-girlfriend's current boyfriend.

Gareth says his mistrust is actually just misplaced frustration of his sexual attraction but hey, what does his best friend of thirteen years know about him, right? He stands, arms-crossed at the doorway, just watching every time Steve comes to pick up the gremlins. Sometimes he gives Eddie an awkward wave from the drivers seat. Eddie never responds.

Harrington might’ve fooled everyone around him, but not Eddie. He's onto Steve Harrington and he's going to get to the bottom of this new found persona of his.

McLaren’s former lover, artistic collaborator and co-producer Eugenia Melian has reflected in a juicy recent blog post about the record’s tortured genesis. Paris was meant to feature collaborations with iconic Parisian women like Jeanne Moreau, Juliette Greco, Catherine Deneuve and Françoise Hardy. Melian has wild anecdotes about how difficult and volatile these divas were, and it’s miraculous Paris came out at all! Most challenging was Moreau: “When we sat down with Jeanne Moreau in her living room it was me who was star-struck, even though I had already exchanged a few phone calls with her directly. Sitting on the sofa in front of me was the legend, the spunky odd beauty with the raspy smoky voice whom Orson Welles had called the "best actress in the world.” Jeanne and Malcolm chatted amicably, her English was impeccable. Malcolm was writing a song called “Paris Paris” for her. Then she asked us who else was on the album. When she heard that we had approached Greco, “Oh, that lesbian?” Jeanne said, but when Malcolm told her that we were also approaching Françoise Hardy and Catherine Deneuve, her face became stony and hard. She lit another cigarette and blew the smoke out slowly saying: “It’s either ME, or them,” and the meeting ended there. Jeanne practically pushed us to her door … au revoir. Mortified, her agent Tony Krantz who I had become friends with, invented an excuse that Jeanne was not available, and her agenda was full.
