ONE YEAR LATER
tangerine x fem!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
word count. 912
synopsis. one year ago today, you and tangerine celebrated the birth of your daughter, mandarin - mandy for short. this special day also marks the anniversary of when you unintentionally saved his life - calling him home from his mission in tokyo.
warnings. fluff fluff fluff. all the fluff !!
note. posting this as a little gift for my 1 year writing anniversary💌 I don’t usually like or read baby/ pregnancy fics, so I have no idea why I wrote this😭 wanted it to be fluffy so everyone can enjoy xo
For you, today was a celebration of life - a day of reflecting on your greatest loves. Not only does today mark your daughter's very first birthday, but it's also the day when you unintentionally saved Tangerine's life.
Way back when, Tangerine was apprehensive about leaving your heavily pregnant self while he was away on a mission - all on your own without any help or care. At the time, your due date was a mere couple weeks away, so you reassured him constantly, saying that she wouldn't be out for a little while - and how you have friends and family who can step in if need be. Besides, back then, you were looking forward to having the bed to yourself, getting to sleep through those very few hours you got a night without your husband's snoring disrupting you.
When you rang him up last year in the middle of the night -for you- you were crying and rambling about the pain of contractions, beckoning him back home to you and the baby. He never once questioned a thing, diverting the taxi driver to the airport instead of the train station.
He would never admit it, but he felt completely useless, only being able to encourage and help over a measly phone call, listening to you cry and wail without being able to touch or hold you. He stayed on the phone with you until he boarded the plane, praising you and telling you how he'll be with you in no time.
That's why today was so important to you - to you both. It's the day your love returned home in one piece while simultaneously being blessed with another slightly cuter and smaller love.
As first-time parents, Mandy's birthday was a big deal - though she wouldn't remember it, you would. It's the kind of day you both want to remember: everything down to the second - every spilt drink, every smile, every word, just every little thing about the day.
Tangerine was out fetching some last-minute things for the party while you stayed back with your daughter, your little girl resting on your hip as you finished setting the table. It wasn't a big celebration with lots of people you feel obligated to invite, just a small, casual event with those you're closest with: Lemon on Tan's side and a few relatives on yours.
"Oh, I know," you sweetly coo, entertaining Mandy when she blabbers - diverting her fidgeting fingers away from the hem of your top. "He's taking forever, hm? I only asked him to get candles."
You look down at your sweet little girl, her toothy grin mirroring your wide one. It was times like this when she looked like the spitting image of her father - light eyes lit up warm, all doe-like, gazing at you with a smile.
You make a playful gasp at Mandy when you hear the keys jingle in the front door, shaking her excitedly and rushing to meet Tan in the foyer.
He walks in, a smile quickly spreading when he lands on you both - Mandy hooked on your hip, her grin just as bright as yours.
"There's my girls," he says warmly, briefly kissing you on the cheek, then his daughter on hers. "Sorry, traffic was utter shit," he whispers to you, lingering a kiss on your lips.
He walks past you both, nodding for you to follow along, leading you to the kitchen island. He places a shopping bag on the counter and begins to rummage through it, searching for what seems to be surprises from the shop.
"Alright, alright. I know you said just cake candles, but," Tan proposes, drawing out the 'but' with a sly smile. "I couldn't not get something for the birthday girl," focusing his attention on Mandy, who is making grabby hands at him. "Here you go, poppet."
Tangerine picks up a bouquet of baby pink flowers from the bag and pulls out a singular peony, handing it to his daughter. His eyes soften as he looks over Mandy, watching how she displays her signature toothy smile, clearly pleased with her gift - even though it had absolutely no use to a one-year-old. The thought is what counts - it does to you anyway.
"Don't think I forgot about you," he softly smiles, his moustache twitching upwards. He hands you the original bouquet and an envelope. "I wrote it in the car. All I had was an Ikea pencil," he chuckles, suddenly bashful.
Your smile widens, nose scrunching, and eyes creasing - clearly appreciative of the sweet sentiment. Exchanging Mandy for the gifts, you open the card and read through his note, watching how he slipped through the kitchen doors, seemingly embarrassed.
"I know you do," you warmly call out to him from the other room, gesturing to his worded thanks for his appreciation towards you. "I appreciate you too, you know," your words quieten as you trail after him into the living room - getting closer to them. You plop onto the sofa beside him, sitting snuggly at his side with Mandy atop his lap. You slip your hand into his larger one, resting your head on his shoulder. "Like a whole lot."
And as you wait for your very few guests to arrive, you take the time to remember this moment - to enjoy it. You and your little family huddled on the couch, celebrating the day that reunited you all.

Courting gifts and proposing
They courting process may vary depending on social status of the families, secondary genders involved and the level on which tradition is enforced but it also has few things that can't be skipped over. Courtship can last from 1 to 5 months, with courter and courted being often chaperoned (it's prevalent in aristocratic and wealthy families, common people are more lax with this). The pair will often exchange courting gifts and perform rituals that will bring the couple together . With courtship period ending , the pair will decide then if they want to go through betrothal and mate.
Courtship tokens :
Tumblr media
Folded paper (Origami, zhezhi) - often is the first thing that a courter will gift even before formal courtship as a question ,,I feel something for you, do you feel the same?". If the reciever gives back a similliar paperfold back it is the sign that you can continue on with the affections. The paper used is heavily scented by the courter as a reminder and a keepsake. Popular shapes of the paper involve animals and flowers such as : mandarin ducks, swans , butterflies, doves, rose, lily, herons, Magnolias, Rabbits etc.
Tumblr media
Combs - because of hair's smell-absorbing qualities, any hair related coutship gifts are always a good baseground and a popular choice. Combing one's hair is an intimate affair that only immediate family and a spouse will have priviledge to. Gifting a comb is a way to say ,, I wanna grow old with you"
Tumblr media
Hair accesories - they vary from hairpins to guans, scented hair ties to hairclips, they are a flashy way to set claim on someone and a good test to whenever your tastes match with the courted.
Tumblr media
Bracelet - omegas (especially high-ranking ones) wear wrist-covering bracelets for their scent glands. Single ones ofter wear simple styled bracelets, so gifting omega a lavish one may establish them as someone elses. It is a gift of utter seriousness of courted's feeling. Bracelets also can be given to beta's but it won't hold as serious meaning as omegas, but the beta will appreciate it nontheless ,who doesn't like jewelry amiright? If you are gifting bracelet to an alpha, remeber to keep it simple and slim, like a bangle :3
Tumblr media
Collars - An official gift that has serious weight to it , equivalent to saying ,,proposal is just a matter of time" . Collar is a symbol of utter claiming that when gifted the omega will wear up until the end of courtship period and if they accept proposal- to the wedding date. Do not give the a collar if you are not completely serious about the matter. Presenting omega a collar and then not going throught with a proposal is a scandalous manner that rivals jilting!!
Tumblr media
Nest supplies - a good, useful gift for an omega. Scented Pillows, blankets or plushies are good nesting companion , granted that they are made of easily washable materials. You litterally cannot go wrong with this gift. The softer the better!!
Tumblr media
Food - A well meaning gift made from love. The courted will often make dishes by hand to show that they can provide and care for the courter. When dates are set in indoor places, food tends to be of less variety and being more filling , while date that take place in an outdoor space such as garden or a meadow ,then food tends to be more bite sized and varied for example dumplings, tarts, cakes, tea, sandwiches and fruitsticks.
Tumblr media
Hankerchief - a scented hankierchief is often used gift by unmated omegas and female betas that alpha or male beta can always take out and take a whiff of. A classical gift of reciprocation of feelings.
Tumblr media
Fans - usually depicting a piece of nature, poetry or historical events, fans are great gifts for summer heat. Fans are often made from wood and paper so it can also carry scent from the courter. A fan is a representation of person's personality so make sure that it matches the person recieving it!
Tumblr media
Scent Perfume: A long distance gift suitable for any dynamics. To get them you need to go to a professional shop specializing in perfume making. The attendants will then carefully evaluate your scent and will best try to recreate it. They are a long lasting and easily portable.
Important ritual in courtship
Scent marking - a proccess when the pair exchange scents. It always starts small and with each month of courting the scent marking level goes further. In the beginning its only sniffing each others wrist, then evolves into rubbing eachothers wrists together, then it turns into intimate touches such as hugs or handholding and finally scenting eachothers neck. ( Note: in suburban and urban areas this step often is less regulated and strict. This high level of propriety and privacy remains often in high social clasess).
Proposing
Exchanging a bite on the wrist scent gland is often an action that cements betrothal. The mark is not permament and will fade after around 4 months. A bite on the wrist shows other people that you are taken and unavailable.

Oranges 🍊
Yuuta x Black Reader
Tumblr media
Selling oranges wasn't a hard job, wasn't easy either. Oranges are a fruit that you won't pick out willingly but if you're in the mood an orange would be a quick choice; it was hot out today so anyone and everyone would be outside simply to enjoy the summer's weather, it was also a good day for a tiny pop-up festival to happen! Since it's the summertime they held a market pop-up event where people selling jewelry, hair care, and the most important part of any event food was out and about selling their fruits of leisure to the public. Every year it would held by the beach with people from all over Japan meeting by the shore, I was setting up my booth ' Everythingz Orange' from oranges, to mandarins, tangerines and sometimes depending on fruits of green like limes and things were litter across these shelves and tables; I had orange accessories too to earring, bracelets, even hair pieces and body products all handmade from your truly, reader!
As I put things around everywhere I see the crowd rushing in like the waves, I see them walk over to the people closer to the entrance which isn't very smart then, to people by good scenery who gets all the pictures the get people to buy anything they want, and then you have people like me who's placed by the shore for a nice watering breeze; people who come by this part stays longer and come back for more that's why I had to start selling orange drinks, snacks, ever finger foods. I make pretty god profit off these people every year, people came by to looks and see what orange things I could have it pretty surprising to see the looks on people's faces when they see I can make orange scented paper, cloth, even ting orange themed plushies.
" Wow!, You must love oranges to make a store out of it?"
" Yep! I grew up on an orange farm so, it practically in my blood now."
To the kids I make tiny crafts like pinwheels, orange peel dolls, etc. Today though would be the best pop-up year for me though when a boy with sad eyes disrespected oranges.
" Hm, oranges?"
A boy with curious eyes looks onto my sack or mandarins with a confused look.
" Well not exactly these are mandarins' kind of like oranges but, smaller and sweeter"
He looks between me and the mandarins with a quirked brow.
" But aren't they apart of the orange family?"
" Yes, but-"
" So, they are oranges."
I know sometimes the heat messes with people's brains but this right here, this is something else! I just looked at the boy with a tilted head and explains while yes, they are in the citrus family they are not like oranges they mostly like the little sister of an orange and not it's twin; he looks at me with those big eyes and just nods. He asked how much for three and I said $5, he buys the three and walks to a group of people by the ice cream shop...it's huge panda by them also I wonder if it's a cosplay?
*10 mintues later*
The sells today been pretty good! A nice older woman bought a pair of earrings and some clementines, a girl with a funky sense of style bought an orange plushie and a bunch of jewelry, and people bought the mandarins and oranges up! The boy walked by my both a few times to see other products or to show his friends the orange themed headphone cases I made in spare time. The sun started to set, and people died out slowly and the cool air settled in, I take a break to shop around seeing shops with different selling points was always my favorite part buying beads, flower seeds, and tiny toys was something I couldn't grow out of; as I walked I saw the boy again we brushed shoulders and I sent him a apologetic smile and continued walking without looking at him back, standing in line for a funnel cake order he comes back with a sheepish look.
" Oh hello, can I help you?"
" Oh yea! um...can I ask you a question?"
" Oh sure! What's up?"
" I couldn't get this off my mind but, what the difference between a clementine and a regular orange?"
To a normal person this is a regular question but when you've had people tell you that clementines are just oranges with a different growing method the topic is very bittersweet but, I tell him all the various differences between shape, taste, texture and etc. and by the time I'm done his eyes are bright and wide; he asks me why would I know all of these things and I tell him I grew up on an citrus farm growing oranges, clementines, limes and everything citrus. We walked along the boardwalk talking about our hobbies and how we are similar, he told me he goes to

We walked back to my booth, and I handed him an clementine.
" Here, just so you know the difference."
His warm hand grabbed the fruit, and he peeled it, I took the peeling and within in a few seconds I made him a pinwheel, his eyes shined at the flavor of the fruit and tiny toy I just smiled and told him how to make one. I pulled him a chair and for what seems like minutes but really almost an hour we talked and ate some oranges and when his friends came over, we finished a whole sack full. Yuuta and I laughed over that, and exchange numbers and he went with his friends with a wave.
After a few more people came by to check things out I started to pack up my things when a peel of an ornage fell down from the table, and it read:
' I'm clemmy glad I've met you today. xoxo Yuuta'
With a smile on my face I texted him a pic of the orange peel with the caption
' Orange you glad you've met me? 😊'
Oranges, the fruit of heart.

So I tried Black Opium Extreme again
A relatively simple installment this week: remember how I tried this one and got nothing but jasmine? Well, I remembered two things:
I tried this on my wrist, not the back of my hand.
I tried it only a couple days after the sample arrived in the mail, rather than letting it settle for a couple of weeks.
I cannot tell you why either of these things make a difference. All I can tell you is that I wore Black Opium Extreme again, and suddenly it was an intense mocha (more a chocolate supported by coffee than the other way around, on me) with an undertone of licorice. In fact, through the lifespan of the perfume, the white floral blend (jasmine and orange blossom) was the least noticeable. I mean, it was there, but you could smell it as part of all the other notes, not standing unto itself. And if you look up there in the original post, jasmine was all I got. Even after the coffee-chocolate-licorice fades, it's not really the jasmine that comes out; it's more of the pear-heavy gourmand I remember from getting vaguely sprayed with the original Black Opium at an Ulta.
And I have also been able to (re)try the original. Let's compare the notes for a moment:
Black Opium (2014): Pear, pink pepper, orange blossom, coffee, jasmine, bitter almond, licorice, vanilla, patchouli, cashmere wood (Cashmeran), cedar.
Black Opium Extreme (2021): Black coffee, cacao, mandarin orange, lemon, pear, jasmine (grandiflorum? sambac?), orange blossom, bourbon vanilla, patchouli.
(For the record: the creators are Nathalie Lorson, Marie Salamagne, Olivier Cresp and Honorine Blanc.)
The newer variant is advertised as being very heavy on the "dark" gourmand notes, especially the coffee, and when I finally got Extreme to cooperate, that's what I got. Licorice isn't listed, but I feel like that's a big ol' lie, because I smell it more clearly here than in the original. Who knows? Not me.
As for the original, we gotta put an asterisk by this, because what I have is a very old Sephora sample (but less than ten years old). I think it aged really nicely, but I can't tell you for sure if the balance of the fragrance has changed—have the basenotes gotten stronger, has something else faded, what have you.
The original opens with the fruity pear-citrus blast that nearly choked me out while shopping; gradually the gourmand notes come out as a sort of pear cupcake foundation. I mostly read the (remember: aged) sample as a vanilla cupcake rather than a coffee or chocolate one, with those notes and the patchouli (which has probably aged very smoothly) subconsciously giving the base more weight. It doesn't come off like a mocha latte; it smells very Vanilla, and very Cake, and eventually, that's the scent left behind once the fruits have gone home. The white floral is still wound up in there, but again, you wouldn't really think of this as "floral" or "blooming," as opposed to the way that the Samsara EdT smelled oddly fresh and airy for a heavily sandalwood fragrance. So: A fresh batch of Black Opium might smell very different, but with this sample, that's what I get. The Extreme version is meant to bring the coffee and chocolate out and put it on top, so that checks out.
What any of this has to do with opium, or even Opium (1977), I do not know.
The thing that intrigues me is that I keep seeing jasmine/licorice combinations in perfume; I've been having a little trouble distinguishing licorice-anise notes, so I've been researching that. By researching, I mean "eating actual licorice candy even though I don't like it." The short version is that licorice, anise, star anise, fennel, and even magnolia blossoms all have a very characteristic smell/taste (granted, I have never eaten a magnolia blossom), and that common denominator is the compound anethole. That's what I'm looking into.
Jasmine sambac (aka night-blooming jasmine, mogra, sampaguita, melati putih, "Arabian jasmine") doesn't seem to have any anethole, but I'm convinced that it blends particularly well with licorice (etc.). As it turns out, I have a sample of Nemat's "Mogra," just because I like jasmine, and will you look at that: mogra is jasmine sambac. It's exactly what's in Black Opium(s). I don't care what anyone says, that's what it is. And jasmine sambac apparently has a scent that, if not containing anethole, is damn compatible with it; either I haven't learned to distinguish licorice very well yet, or they just blend together that well.
And I noticed that the jasmine/licorice combination is in two other fragrance samples I have: the original, eponymous Lolita Lempicka (1997), and the (for some reason completely different) eau de parfum concentration of HYPNOTIC POISON. So I'll be reporting back on those soon.

if only i could break the chains of disappointment weighing me down (shake off the ghosts that whisper warnings)
It's the middle of the night. Frank Zhang can't sleep. Instead, he picks up his old kid's version of Journey to the West.
read on ao3
(sorry i forgot to do this one :/)
The stick burns, and Frank stares at it.
He does nothing.
It burns up. He collapses. There is nothing else.
And then he wakes up.
(The first time he had that nightmare, he tried to stop it, throw it into the snow. Frank learned quickly. Now, he thinks, he'll just be surprised to not wake up after it burns for real. Or maybe death is like sleep? He supposes he could ask Hazel.)
He wakes up in his bed in the praetors’ quarters.
It's two am, and Frank doesn't have to wake up for another four hours, but the world is quiet and Frank likes it that way. Reyna's sleeping in her room, so Frank walks out to their 'hang out room' - as they like to call it - and turns on the small lamp.
His copy of a kid's version of Journey to the West sits on the bookshelf. Reyna had raised an eyebrow at it, but to him it's a marker of when his childhood was a little easier, a little happier. His mother used to read it to him.
And then she went to war.
His mother was a wonderful woman; she loved more than Frank ever thought possible.
Emily Zhang also left.
Those two halves Frank has never quite been able to reconcile; Emily Zhang, the loving mother, and Emily Zhang, the absent parent. For so much of his childhood, it was his Lao Lao - maternal grandmother in Mandarin - and him.
Smashed pottery, pretty blue and white, and his grandmother’s disappointment.
“Zhang Fai,” she’d trill disappointingly. All of that disappointment could never hide the pain in her voice when she sent him away, could never hide the pain in her voice when she found her daughter to be dead, could never hide the pain in her voice when she spoke of her late husband’s death.
Frank had never been fully certain if his grandmother ever even had a husband. Zhang was her married name; Jade Zhang Yu has always been more Chinese-Canadian than Chinese, despite her pride.
Frank used to know his Tai Poh Poh - great-grandmother, Cantonese instead of Mandarin like the rest of them - or, he met her once in his memory. Her mind was failing her by then, her speech muddled with Cantonese words. Frank understood little - of course, his last Cantonese relative was his great-grandmother. She'd speak and through the curtain of language he could understand bit-by-bit, fragments painting a whole.
She had come from China, escaping Mao Zedong (who his grandmother always intermittedly pronounced as ze-dong or see-tong) and his communist regime with her family, moving to Hong Kong and later Canada.
But from what Frank understood, his great-grandmother was only saying a few Buddhist prayers, maybe intermixed with something else. Something for her final days, something about her late husband, Frank's grandfather.
He had never met Shen Lun, who moved up from San Francisco, to meet Frank's great-grandmother in Vancouver's Chinatown.
Frank likes Chinatown. It's sort of chaotic, but it smells strangely like a home. There's a bakery that makes amazing apple fritters and disappointing ma lai goh, a sort of spongy cake. There's Chinese herbal remedy shops whose aroma floats in the air, baskets upon baskets of herbs like star anise and ginger. There's slightly dirty shops with roast duck hanging in the window, rotating slowly. There's the gate, and the grand dragon dance on every New Years'.
Frank misses Chinatown, all the time. He misses the crowded shops. He knows that the Chinatown he knows is no longer present, he knows that Chinatown's been slowly gentrified over time. He also knows it is no longer the centre of Chinese Canadians in the Vancouver area - Richmond has taken that, but again, it was also where Frank grew up.
(But Chinatown still sounds like home to Frank. And even though he'd never met Shen Lun, he had to bear his mistakes anyway. Filial piety, loyalty to your parents. A never-ending cycle of shame and guilt given from parent to child. Frank is Chinese-Canadian. He finds other ways.)
(And that's not getting to Richmond. Because Frank knows it must've changed in the years he's been gone. Or two years. It was changing fast by the time he left.)
New Rome is too clean, clean to be unnatural. It's odd and strange and kind of weird, but Frank is praetor, and his obligations rest on his shoulders here.
Frank resurfaces back in the present, and takes the copy of Journey to the West off of the shelf. The characters and drawings are achingly familiar, a children's book that is still decently long, due to the nature of how long Journey to the West is.
Frank's grandmother's favourite goddess is Guanyin, or, as she pronounced it the Cantonese way, Ginyam, with a hard g. Goddess of mercy and compassion, a bodhisaatva in Buddhist tellings. Guanshiyin, in her long form. The children's book has a drawing of her; Guanyin sits on the blooming lotus flower, wise and compassionate.
Frank's mother liked her too.
("Mercy is restraint, Frank," Emily said. "It has just a place in war as violence does.")
Frank supposes it is fitting that he likes her too. Taoist gods are much more... well, Frank can't quite place it, but Taoist gods are different than Roman gods. They have different concepts of filial piety and duty attached to them. The Jade Emperor gained power via compassion. Jupiter’s came from force.
Guanyin is nothing but benevolent; she assists Sun Wukong in helping Xuanzang (Frank did not find the other characters as notable; his favourite was always the peaceful Xuanzang, and, well, Sun Wukong is hard to forget). Her one fault, his mother had always said, was that she was a deux-ex-machina for the protagonists. But, as Emily had always reminded Frank, deux-ex-machinas can be good things, too.
"Why are you up at this ungodly hour?" Reyna asks, stepping in place beside him, breaking Frank out of his reverie.
"Just… reminiscing. Had a nightmare.”
“Fair enough,” Reyna says, rolling out her shoulder. “Nothing important?”
“No. You can go back to sleep.”
Reyna smiles, but it’s ephemeral. “You know you can talk to me, right? We’re not super close but we are working together. And you can talk to Hazel.”
“I know. It’s nothing important.”
Reyna nods and leaves him alone to his thoughts and the kid’s version of Journey to the West.
She reminds him of the burden of duty. She’s bore it for all too long. Frank doesn’t know how she did it. He’ll be praetor for just under ten years, and the toll’s already been felt. And alone, too. If Frank’s honest, Reyna has always seemed frightening to him. She’s great at what she does, self-confident and assured in her every move. And duty is something Frank is familiar with - Shen Lun’s stain has long been felt. Frank’s grandmother’s pride had long been kept.
Reyna has a legacy. Of her family and of her own. She may have created it with her sister Hylla, but it is hers nonetheless.
Frank has one too. But his is conflicting. Shapeshifters, prisoners, immigrants, exiles, war heroes.
His mother would've told him he had his own path in life. His grandmother would've told him that children must follow their parents.
If there is one thing the Roman and Taoist gods are in agreement about, it is filial piety. It is loyalty to your parents, to the state. If there is one thing all of his ancestors would have probably agreed on, it would be that.
Obey your parents. Obey the state. Your parents gave you everything; you can never recompensate that.
He puts the kid's copy of Journey to the West back on the shelf.
He wants a good bowl of noodles - whatever it is. Crossing-the-bridge, udon (in Chinese dishes, yes, that was Chinese-Canadian). They don't have any decent Chinese food in New Rome (only terrible Chinese food allowed solely by , and he's not allowed to go to San Francisco, or, gods forbid, Vancouver. Even as praetor).
Maybe he should send one of his distant cousins a message - or his grandmother, if she's still alive. He thinks he could find her. Or perhaps it is more hope.
Plus, the praetors have their own kitchenette. He could probably make something. As long as it can be put in the microwave.
Frank smiles.
He thinks, if his grandmother is alive, she may be proud of him in this moment. For nothing else but where he's come and who he wants to be. For nothing else if that he has turned the Zhang family into what the Shen family could never be.
He thinks, if his mother were here to see him, she would be proud of him. Not for everything he's come to, but simply because she loves him. He thinks Emily Zhang would as well.

DON'T BINGE:
Take a moment and talk to God about it (even if you’re not a believer, it doesn’t hurt to try!)
Watch mukbang about the food that you are craving
Watch supersize vs superskinny (its on YouTube)
Look in the mirror and remind yourself why you are doing this in the first place
Read a book
Do your homework
Do chores
Smell at the food that you are craving
Write down your feelings and cravings (trust me it helps sm)
Drink A LOT of water. Drink until you feel like you’re about to explode
Clean your room! Get rid of all those water bottles and dishes.
Clean out your closet, decide what clothes you don’t wear and donate them to your local thrift store!
Go on a shopping spree! (Don’t spend all your money though!)
Organize your Pinterest boards
Compare yourself to th!nsp0
Weigh yourself
Listen to music
Drink calming tea
Catch up with a friend!
Talk to your pet about your feelings
Sleep the cravings out
Take a long walk
Take a cold shower
Watch a movie you haven’t seen before
Take care of your nails!
Look up how to do something you have always wanted to learn (make-up, macramé, origami, sign language, …)
This might sound weird but I love sudokus and they always get me focused enough to stop thinking about bingeing
Make a to-do list for the rest of the week
Listen to a podcast
Have a self-care day (take an everything-shower, put on a face mask, take care of your hair and body)
Make an essay about any topic you like
Start writing a book
Re-decorate your room
Make a New Year’s resolution list! Who do you want to be at the end of 2024?
^ or make a vision board !!!
Call a friend or family member
Read the newspaper (lowkey more interesting than I expected it to be)
If you’re frustrated about it, scream into a pillow
Scroll on insta or tiktok
Built a Lego set
Pick some flowers!
Practice deep breathing
Try yoga if you haven’t before!
If you are still standing in your kitchen, girl get out rn
Ask yourself if you are physically hungry, the answer is most likely no
Keep a food diary
Munch on a low cal snack instead, take veerryyyy slow bites
Thing I do but definitely don’t recommend:
Binge and purge (if you purge make sure you brush your teeth abt 30mins after)
Sm0ke or v@pe (depends if i’m able to go outside or not)
Sh (please, pleaaaase don’t do this)
I’m so guilty to do this to my family and the people who think I’m in a true recovery. But if I don’t Im scared of what might happen, I’m scared I’ll kill myself or even worse. I just really want to lose weight and feel like myself again
On day one I did mess up by having meat early on but we have to go through meat products before I can buy vegetarian substitutes plus we don’t have eggs rn.
so you think you're "stuck" here again? you're not actually stuck, you're just not trying hard enough. you can lower your intake, walk more, exercise harder, fast for longer. the only thing stopping you from losing weight is you. why haven't you changed that? do something.
It’s only been two hours and you are already eating again. You are gonna be huge forever.
if you're looking at some food and doubting yourself if you should eat it or not, the answer is no
I doubt that eating makes you as happy as stepping on the scale and seeing that you lost weight
You aren’t hungry, you’re just bored.
Excuses to not eat:
My tummy hurts from gallbladder
I took my pills in the morning and got sick
Sky kept me busy all day
Shared breakfast and lunch with sky
Thought I ate, forgot. *Go to get a snack and come back with a drink or small treat*
Spend time cooking for others
Talk about how you ate different things for breakfast
Smaller chest
Sharper jawline
Less curvy thighs
Square hips
Dainty hands
Collarbones
Slutty waist
Sharp shoulders
To float in my clothes
To look hot in emo clothes
Deeper set eyes
Visible spine
✨️Hipbones✨️
To save money (less food eaten, less food to buy)
Mesh tops
Muscles easier to see
People telling me I'm so small
Boyfriends being able to pick me up like it's nothing
some tips on food fixation and binging urges:
hellooo, ive been thinking about compiling some things that have helped me get my mind off of food and overall just writing down some rant -- so here it is!
keep in mind, im not an expert and this is mostly just me babbling. im writing this as a motivation for myself, and it will probably not work for everyone, but if you find any of this stuff helpful -- my pleasure!
★ mindfulness ★
`` first of all -- ive found that that strong-urge-to-binge thing is more of a state, not a feeling. it helps me to treat it as such: a mental state, a spiral, and to come out of that spiral you can:
◌ stop!
◌ breath in, breath out. ground yourself. have that thought of "wait, what am i doing?" in the space between you and the fridge
◌ check in with your body. what position are you in? does something hurt? are you cold? are you tired? overenergized?
◌ check in with your mind. is there any buzz? are you overwhelmed?
◌ if you located the issue (eg. im tired! i want comfort! so food = comfort!) -- great! move on from there to resolving this issue in a more mindful, not-involving-food way (then i should nap, do yoga, just lie on the floor, watch comfort movie)
why are we doing that? in my opinon, its very important to train that "what am i doing" moment of conciousness, because through that you can see better why you want to binge. is it a mental thing? how can you cope without food? is it a physical feeling? an effect of restriction? how can you tweak your eating to make it better (imo, fasting does better job at managing binges than plain restriction)
you cant just showe thinspo at your face everytime you crave something, after all : )
★ activities ★
`` make something with your hands! ohh my god! i cant stress it enough, it can help you to not get fixated on thinking about food so much! it can be something easy like drawing, or you can look up something new for yourself
`` go on a walk. i know, it can be very tiring to even think about, but t does wonders at distracting you
`` yoga. very simple and very effective. or, alternatively
`` do nothing at all for a bit. just. lie down, turn off your phone, no sound, no nothing (helps if your binging urge feels overwhelming)
`` if you havent already, try drinking coffee. it really is called an appetite supressant for a reason
`` i wasnt the one who told you that, but you can look up some gross stuff involving food.. f*eeding k*ink usually freaks me out on multiple levels for long enough to forget about food
`` test yourself and allow yourself to feel bored. put down your phone. watch a really long flm. boredom is a part of our lives, and if you teach yourself to feel it in such small portions without binging youll be so so proud of yourself

15 Questions 15 Mutuals
I wasn’t tagged for this, but I saw it on a mutual’s blog and thought it would be fun to do. I haven’t done one of these in a while, so why not?
1. Are you named after anyone?
I was named after a great-grandmother as well as my paternal grandmother—Dorothy Elizabeth (my great-grandmother) and Jeannette (my grandmother). I adore my grandmother, so I’ve always been honored to share a name with her. I never knew my great-grandmother, who died tragically young, and I’ve always been a little sad that I never knew her.
2. When was the last time you cried?
About a week ago or so. Look, I cry all the time nowadays, so I can’t even accurately tell you. It’s not even a bad thing, mind you. I cry at cute things as well as sad things; at this point, if I’m feeling the emotion, I just let it take over!
3. Do you have kids?
I don’t. I wouldn’t mind having one or two, maybe three, someday with a committed partner. But I am definitely not having children for the sake of having them. If I’m going to be a mother, then I’m doing it because I’m ready.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
It depends on the situation. I tend to only do so with my nearest and dearest, and in a humorous sense. I’m of the opinion that sarcasm has a time and place, because depending on the situation, sarcasm can be very rude.
5. What sports do you play/have played?
I used to play sports a lot when I was a kid. I used to play kickball and baseball with my cousins and my friends in my neighborhood all the time. And I played on a local soccer team with a bunch of school friends when I was 9. I even went to a basketball camp at my dad’s recreation center when I was 10.
I didn’t keep up with any of this as I got older, mind you LMAO! I’m just not as athletic as other people. But I do love watching sporting events, especially the World Cup.
6. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Their faces, especially their eyes and their smiles.
7. What's your eye color?
Dark brown, like polished mahogany or melted chocolate.
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings, for sure! As much as I love a good spooky story, I appreciate and care about happy endings more.
9. Any special talents?
I can sing well enough, at least among my friends and my family. I tell stories really well; I do everyone’s voices and everything. I’m pretty good at cheering people up and knowing what to say in any given moment. I’m also pretty good at baking, especially cookies and cakes.
10. Where were you born?
In America, in Maryland to be exact.
11. What are your hobbies?
I’ve gotten back into reading lately, which is wonderful, because I think reading is probably my favorite thing to do. Usually I like reading about history, but I’ve also decided to step out of that and try to read some book series this summer. I’ve been learning French on Duolingo for about 3 years now, and one day I’d like to learn Spanish, Russian, Greek, and Mandarin one day too. I like listening to music and podcasts on the weekends, and when I can plan it, I also like going to the movies and go shopping afterwards.
12. Do you have pets?
For about 13 years, I had a Latsah-Otsah/Maltese dog named Ringo. Unfortunately, he died last year and it was a hard thing to go through. I would love to have another pet, but I live with my family, so if we do decide to get one we’d ALL have to agree upon it. And right now, my family doesn’t feel like it’s ready for anything else, so SADLY I am petless. :(
13. How tall are you?
I am five feet tall! I’m literally a hobbit.
14. Favorite subject in school?
English lit, world history, my Spanish classes, and my chorus class.
15. Dream job?
So many! I wished I had kept up with my music lessons, because I wish I could be in an orchestra or a choir. I used to want to be a radio DJ, too, but that dream fizzled out real quick lmao!
Here’s who I would like to tag: @1980s-jean-ralphio, @miumiumacaron, @stcndupeight, @nellygwyn, @magalis, @roamwithahungryheart, @pocketwish, @octoberinflorence, @grand-duchessa, @midnightinjapan, @wifeofbath, @spicytchai90, @stray-kaz

龙年大吉
for his precious childhood friend, xianjun had spent a lot of time in the kitchen - getting all sorts of ingredients over him ( especially his face for some reason ) but the end result was absolutely stunning. on saturday february 10th, esther would receive a box with a homemade mandarin orange honey layer cake. this cake symbolises prosperity and is a delightful harmony of honey cake layers and zesty mandarin orange. an added note in xianjun’s chicken scratch wished esther a happy new year of the dragon, and he expressed his wish to make new and lasting memories together.

As Esther had been preparing for the lunar holiday feast, she had heard a knock at her door, and pulling on a robe, she had stepped out to accept the package from the delivery person. She had not been expecting anything, having been caught up to date on her stress shopping she had done the few weeks prior. So, interested, she had set it down on her kitchen counter to immediately open.
The surprise inside warranted a raise of her brow, but as she realized it came from Xianjun, the demigoddess warmed up. She had no clue that he could cook this well as the cake looked absolutely delicious. Taking a snapshot of the dessert, she sent him a message. “Happy new year! I cannot wait to take the biggest bite! Thank you so much!”

Watched WayV on joox live :3 (220104) (220208)
220104 Episode
I always knew Alexander as that guy who could speak a million languages (including Cantonese) from U-Kiss so it was cool seeing him get so excited about being able to speak different languages.
I didn't know anything about Ginny but her being like "我都係廣東人啊!" had me like YEAH!!!!!! Truly the Canto crowd today!!!!!! 4/6 of the people there can speak it.
And Xander being like "hehe our managers won't know what we're saying >3" No but he's so right
Omg but Xander bringing up Cantonese again like he is REALLY excited about people speaking Cantonese and like high key me too dude!!!!
Also Xander really switching between English, Cantonese, and Korean all chill. He's not the one who has to type subtitles anyway lol. Meanwhile Ginny is very professional keeping things in Korean :P
Dejun: I'd love to cover a Cantonese song but we don't have the copyright
林子祥 SUNBAENIM guys I'm crying X'D
DEJUN SANG 大哥 by 衛蘭 I'M GOING TO FUCKING DIE FROM HAPPINESS OMFG Janice Vidal was my favourite Cantonese singers ToT
I hope Yangyang and Qian Kun aren't feeling too left out ^^;;
WayV pets spotlight
Dejun doesn't mind Bella being clingy :3
Kun: I already know how to do so many things Kun flex
Next level
Tumblr media
Yangyang's outfit is cool btw :3
Qian Kun & Yangyang: 你識唔識講英文? Kind of a flex but also I wonder if that was what Dejun was whispering into Yangyang's ear at the last minute XD
DEJUN DEADASS NAMED THREE NCT MEMBERS WRONG. I know he just got tongue tied though :P
Kun mentions both the Czennies and Wayshennies :3
Ten is unanimously the sexiest WayV
Xander asked for the point and Dejun was the go-to guy to demonstrate XD I don't know why but he fits that vibe :P Without Ten he is the representative for dance I guess :3
I know this is a lower budget show and Xander was like "guys can you get a shot of them again with the legs"
Omg Ten choreographed part of Miracle?????? Makes me love it even more now <3
When Yangyang said Kun was the cutest member and made him do cute poses at the camera and Xander was like "you're just teasing him." FINALLY someone stands up for this injustice XD
They had to pick the member who was coolest when angry and Kunyang pointed at Xiaojun and the little guy was just sitting like this while everyone laughed
Tumblr media
Oh nooo Yangyang said that Dejun is cute when he's angry so it makes him want to mess with him TAT Dejun cannot live under this roof
OH RIGHT Kun's birthday is New Year's :3 It's nice that the show got him a cake :3
YEAH the Canto crew sang Kun the 福壽歌 (basically Cantonese Happy Birthday)
Xander so miffed that Yangyang was so good at English and didn't say anything because he did all the English heavy lifting for the day XD
Their final greetings still mentioned keeping safe during the pandemic, time really goes by so fast.
220208 Episode
On Kun's behalf Yangyang promised all Weishennies red pockets ^^;;
Hendery: 很大的煲 Except he said 很大的 in Mandarin and 煲 in Cantonese because he didn't know the Cantonese word for Cantonese and let me tell you, that is how a lot of Cantonese people speak Mandarin XD They just substitute Cantonese words in and hope people get it.
LMAO he was talking about 盤菜
Yangyang's pictures are pretty detailed, kudos :P
Ooh I actually didn't know Xiaojun played guitar :3 Hendery said he plays sad songs a lot
Kun's pictures of Yangyang were cute!!!!!!!! The way he wrote it as "Yangyang's day off" :3
Also the way Kun was like "Yangyang has a lot of clothes but HE GOES SHOPPING FOR MORE!!!!!"
Xiaojun's pretty and dense eyelashes in the spotlight :P
寫揮春!!
Kun explaining the arrangement in Turn Back Time :3
Xander keeps getting 99 team second guessing by being like "which version is it???"
Hendery finding the tiara after the wand and was like "哇, 這是one set 喔!" He was so excited about dressing Yangyang up as a princess.
Tumblr media
Oh man I enjoyed this soooo much because like Xander, I was just so excited about seeing a bunch of Cantonese/Chinese speaking peeps together haha <3 <3 <3
