So I go to a gay church in my area because I like the community and it is honestly incredible to see old queers every week. But I've been thinking recently about this particular dynamic in the bible study group.
in the group there is this gay catholic and and a nonbinary communist who are both retirement age and butt heads on every topic, with the Catholic very adamant in his positions and being sure of his being right about How To Christianity. Then the Communist who has studied other religions and is much more concerned with the Divinity found in humanity than some invisible Patriarch making all the rules. and it as me thinking about the Uber Right Wing politics of a buncha christians, and how 'traditional christianity' really does make sense with their political views (and lets be honest, it was designed that way)
because like, the Catholic. He means well, but basically always falls back to "Yeah God is easy. He is perfect and mysterious and we can't understand him but we have to follow his rules and those rules are the Bible and the Catholic Doctrine." Which. Every time I hear him talk I cant help but hear right wing rhetoric about not questioning established authority and how those in power got there in the first place.
For example, there was a discussion about Sin. and the Catholic goes on the expected spiel of "Sin is these actions as defined by bible and to be rid of sin you have to do the 3 step plan that the church made up which goes like admit guilt, apologize, then repent by not doing the thing again and also pray about it. Bam Done. Easy Peasy."
He kept repeating this line of reasoning even when this other guy, a New guy who specifically doesn't like Christianity because of people who prescribe how to think and act, as it is a trigger for New guy. But the Catholic couldn't tell that. His Catholic Programming wasn't able to compute any other way of a Correct Relationship with Religion. It felt incredibly reminiscent of something along the lines of "oh its easy to not get arrested, just don't to a crime sweaty :))))" type rhetoric.
and I don't have the writing skills to make extensive conclusions and tie all the strings together but I just wanted to share this pattern I see. where right wing Evangelical Christians have their view on life baked in in every aspect of their beliefs. and its frustrating!!! because religion even including Christianity can be a helpful tool for spirituality/hope in the world/ community for people but just like any system of power, it is important to question the structure, and who is in power and why. And like most power structures that want to maintain that structure, Christianity and Right Wing rhetoric often go hand in hand in their ability to drive any questioning out.
Anyhow, shoutout to Alien the 70ish year old nonbinary racing champ with an intersex cat they are my hero and I love them for having the energy to push back against the Catholic and his rigid power structures.

i got us new flannel sheets last week (on sale!) and they are soooooo cozy and soft and nice... i love some things about being an adult, like picking bedthings and towels and stuff... i remember i was so excited picking out our shower curtain when we moved in :,) my house is very old and not very fancy but it is cozy, and safe, and has my nice things in it. i get to be here with my wife and cats and that's all i wanted.
and i think it has more personality, being a hundred years old! it's seen so much. i would like to upgrade the windows for insulation reasons but i don't think i'd change much else... i like old houses, i miss the old manor a lot. it was falling apart because the landlord didn't care, but i loved that place wholeheartedly. if it had been mine and i had the money, i would've fixed it up so beautifully... it was a bit too far gone, though. still wish it hadn't been torn down.
maybe one day i could have one of the big edwardian houses in town, if i can find one that flippers haven't ripped all the charm out of. (or could afford it, but i'm just dreaming here.) i imagine a sunroom for the cats, and a little garden with plants for the pollinators... maybe some neat old kitchen appliances. a music room, and a sewing room...! maybe even a library, the kind with the rolly-ladder. definitely a room for guests. a real pantry, even! i love the idea of a big-ish house, a real big kitchen. baking for all my friends. old houses are so much work but i love them... i'd have the dustcaps for the stair corners, and real vintage brass for the fixtures, and my friends' art hung everywhere!

This is such a dumb meme, and post it's from is even worse.
No one starts with this.
For any hobby.
Everyone posting "out of touch" how to videos started somewhere.
A tbh there is a point at which its reasonable to expect you to have the basic equipment or ingredients for whatever tutorial you're following on hand.
(And that's assuming whatever it is was made as a tutorial. A lot of things are more meant as "here's how this works" than something actually intended to be followed along with. Especially on the channels pulling out thousands of dollars worth of equipment every video. And if that still bothers you, you might just need to watch something else)
But if you're watching a video on drafting your own prom dress (which is not a single person's first sewing project) then yes, they're going to assume you have access to a machine and basic sewing tools.
And yeah, the person who runs a baking channel has a stand mixer. They do this for a living, they're going to get stuff that their job easier (and they're assuming you can fill in the blank to stir by hand if you don't have one) (same thing goes for sergers, that's another one everyone loves to complain about)
And someone with a CNC machine probably doesn't actually think the majority of their audience is going to copy them
I don't know, if click bait times and prices annoy you that's fine, but I just find that attitude so annoying. You can learn how to work around things. It'll make you better in the long run. But acting like it's ridiculous to think you have the stuff for the tutorial you're watching is stupid.

Every time Bakugo goes to the grocery store, you send him with a list.
He has brains and, of course, a good memory, but it's your wife instinct that, after all, even when he's the number one heroe, he's a man.
It had happened before. He comes home full of bags in the back of his car, and when you're unpacking the bags, you realize that he forgot the salt and the bell peppers. Bakugo has exquisite taste, so that's very essential in your kitchen.
"Tsk, you don't need to write it down, I'm not an old man," he said, rolling the keys of his car in his index while you open and close the pantry trying to memorize what you don't have for the week.
"I know, but I don't want you to forget anything. With our schedule, we can't go to the groceries after work, " you say, writing down more things you'll need for the dinner you're hosting the upcoming weekend.
He knows you're right. You are always right.
When he walks on the aisles in the supermarket, he follows your list, doing a fast check on it every time he puts something in the cart.
He obviously adds the candies you like, your favorite chocolates, the new type of m&m's that you send him daily on tiktok and of course, even if he doesn't approve, a six pack of coca-cola (original flavour)

When you thought you found a big brick castle house for cheap, but it turns out to be so much more. This 1895 home in Bedford, Pennsylvania has 5bds, 1.5ba (it says that, but there're actually toilets galore & potential bedrooms) for just $274,900 and a sale is pending.
Living room has a corner fireplace, and an unfortunate suspended ceiling & neon lighting that should come down.
Lovely room with a corner fireplace and a big window seat.
Kitchen's so weird they only show a corner of it.
What in the world happened in the pantry?
There must've been offices in here.
Tiny room, but the floor is new.
Going up to look at the bedrooms and bath.
Not bad.
One of the bedrooms. Wonder what's under the indoor/outdoor carpet and new drop ceilings.
Looks like this basement room is being redone.
Large laundry room.
Well, look here, a rather large jail, too? This home just keeps on giving.
This is nice.
Are those clothes on the shelf?
I said there were toilets galore.
Looks like someone dismantled some of the cells.
Some cells have cool original artwork.
I'm going to say that this is a crematory oven. In the door.
And, out the chute?
There's mad parking back here. If someone has the money to fix it up, it could be incredible.

so I found this really cool website that sells native seeds- and you might be asking me "snekdood, haven't you posted an entire list of websites that sell native wildflower seeds that you're going to add on to soon?" and yes that's true, but that's not the kind of native seed im talking about rn.
see, on my quest to find websites that sell native wildflowers, I came across this dope ass website that sells seeds that have been farmed and harvested by ntv people traditionally, i'll let the website do the talking:
so anyways this is the coolest website ever. you can find the wild relatives of chiles on here called chiltepines, you can find different colors of corn and cool squash's, and every seed from whichever farm has it's own lil origin story written about it. you can also find other veggies here that are already commercially available to help fund and support this organization. as well as there being a cool gift shop with a lot of art made by different native folk from all around as well as cookbooks, jewelry, pottery, weavings, and clearly plenty more:
as well as a pantry?? with premade soup mixes??? and i really want to try them now??????
anyways I think its worth snoopin' around bc I'm almost positive you'll see something you think is cool (oh also if you happen to have some seeds passed down from ur family too and ur also native they seem like they would gladly help produce more)
