My thoughts on the pjo show (now that the season is over) (this is going to run long) Overall Rating: 8/10 :

Ok first of all, I actually LOVED the show and the cast is literally awesome; I do have some thoughts and feelings tho.

The GOOD :D

The visuals were eating ngl

THE CAST!!!! they literally were amazing cannot stress this enough

I think a lot of the changes were handled super well, especially Medusa (although I don't love all of the changes...see below in the next section lol)

I LOVED the set design for pretty much all of the scenes!!! Like the set & costuming was literally so good; sometimes it looked a little Volume-y but I think it's ok since they also clearly did a bunch of on-location stuff

Driving scene was literally so funny like no notes on that + the acting was On Point pretty much All of the Time.

I actually think they slayed with the special effects

Pretty accurate! (overall a waaaaaay better adaptation than the movies)

BLUE FOOD!!!!

More Sally content was awesome!! And I cannot stress this enough the ACTORS WERE SO GOOD in their roles!! Like I think they were the perfect choices ngl and I hope to see more of them in season 2 (if we get one, idk if its greenlit yet)

I also liked how they focused on Grover's character more (lowkey my fav now)

Genuinely had a great time watching the scenes from the books I've loved since Forever come to life onscreen!

The character dynamics were GIVING

Loved getting more info about Percy's backstory

The way they showed the Mist was honestly so cool!! This might be filed under Visuals but still...it was so cool

Fight choreo fluctuated, but I liked the Percy vs Luke fight (altho the scorpion erasure ;-;)

Again the chemistry with the actors like adkjhfdkjdfkjhdfjkhk I think the acting may have been my fav part honestly lol

All of the easter eggs for the fans!!

Rick's subtle rewriting of the story was sometimes very cool! (Like with the water grabbing Percy etc) --- you can definitely tell that he's thinking about how he'd change the story if he were to write it today

...HOWEVER i have gripes :(

THE LIGHTING WAS TOO DARK IN NIGHT SCENES!!!! HATE THAT TROPE WHY CANT I SEEEEEEEE (looking at u medusa scene)

I feel like they should've fallen into like…at least one trap without Knowing Everything about it. Like, I get the Medusa change and am pretty on board with it, but I feel like a few of the other changes weren't really necessary & messed with the stakes. A lot of the time it felt like I was watching them explain "Oh you're THIS person so you will do THIS so I will do THIS" instead of like...showing me.

Not enough blood (this is prob a Disney problem, not the show creators fault but like...cmon Disney...they have swords, let the children get More Injured...they are Fighting for their Lives)

Felt kinda...dryer than the books? idk how to explain it...like it felt like there wasn't the same Vibes in some parts if that makes sense, like they switched out a lot of funny moments (esp with how they changed Charon and the Crusty scenes lowkey im bitter)

the tone was definitely sometimes waaay different from the books (like it was way more serious I think, which is good sometimes and less good other times)

Idk if this is 100% true bc my last reread was a few months ago, but I think they separated the main trio more than in the book (?), it felt like they were duo-ed with diff members for a lot rather than building off of their main dynamic -- they had some trio moments but ig i just wanted more (again, I could be wrong on this one tho)

Lotus Casino not really being as Fun (the pumping lotus flowers in the air was a cool detail tho!)

It generally felt like they took a lot of the funny parts in favor of talking more about how messed up the gods are (which I liked sometimes!! but the kids are 12 let them have more funny moments too yaknow) (Rip the Died in the Bathtub line...gone but not forgotten)

I really didn't love the changes that made the story feel more Cliche and Basic (the ones that annoyed me were changing the entire DOA to just Some Standard Death Eater Looking Fellow & Annabeth's interactions with Cerebus being completely changed)

Mixed feelings on Gabe...I wanted him to be more evil at the beginning but I get why they changed it ig. Plus he was literally so funny when he (spoilers?) got murdered by opening someone else's mail. That's what happens when you commit a federal crime ig.

General Character Thoughts:

PERCY: Walker Scobell was such a good casting call... like you can tell he really cares about the books & getting the character right. Acting was on point, sass was on point (but I do wish he got to be sassy a bit More); Really gives off the energy of Percy Jackson and definitely was AMAZING in this role!

ANNABETH: She was spectacular in this role!! Leah got literally all of Annabeth down to a T --- her kindness, her pride, her wisdom, etc etc without resorting to any kind of "stock smart girl" vibe. She was literally SO GOOD! I loved seeing her talk about her dad, and the detail about her not having seen a movie is such a mood and so in-character lowkey. Leah really nailed Annabeth's dry humor and general vibe like dfajkhfdjhkfdhjk

GROVER: He was my favorite! Like, his acting was AMAZING fr!!! They brought a lot of newer things into his character that I think worked really well & it definitely strengthened his characterization --- he was also really funny & so sincere I just loved his portrayal of Grover!

HOWEVER I think some of the arcs are shakier since the characters didn't struggle as much, since they were figuring out a Lot of things

Overall, I took 2 points from the rating because the Spirit and Humor weren't fully there and I felt some of the changes made it feel less like the OG and more cliche (looking at u Charon). However, the great acting, pretty slay writing (except for the tone stuff), Vibes, and all the other stuff I think they did right pulled through to get it ranked a little higher lol. Plus, I liked it, even if I didn't like all of it.

No hate if u loved the show adaptation tho!! Feel free to disagree, these are just my thoughts lol. I really genuinely hope there's going to be a season 2, although I would like if they fix a few of these problems in that potential season (please...let me see what's happening in the dark scenes...please...)

"When you're not sure what to wear for Tony's Halloween party, Steve comes up with a solution. Too bad that he earned a rival as a result, but he's always going to be your favorite Captain America, and you'll always be his favorite Star Spangled Singer."

"Can't I just go dressed up as… Myself?"

"Steve, that's not how Halloween works," you sighed, arms folded on your chest as you sat cross-legged on the bed right by Steve's legs. He was leaning on the bed frame, one hand keeping his book open from the lower end of it, the other swirling the marker around- and he looked so cozy that you felt a bit guilty about keeping him away from the world of his book. Sighing softly, you slowly moved closer to him and got under the covers, his arm immediately finding its way around your shoulders to keep you close to his chest. "Besides, I think Maria is already going as Captain America, so…"

The grimace which took its place on his face pulled a laugh out of you, as you patted his chest reassuringly, watching him as he carefully jammed the bookmark on the page he was left at. Setting the book down on the nightstand by his side, he wrapped both of his arms around you, slightly pulling you on top of him as you braced yourself on his chest, looking down at him with a silly grin. "What are you going as?"

"Dunno," you hummed happily, reaching to press your lips against his chin when you couldn't bear the lovesick expression he kept sending your way anymore. "I'm so hopeless when it comes to actually picking something. Might as well go dressed as your shield or something."

His warm laugh was enough to bring the smile on your lips even wider. "I might actually have an idea."

You don't even know how he found an exact replica, and you're not willing to ask but the next day, a couple of hours before the party, Steve came back to your shared room in the compound with a costume. Specifically, a Star Spangled Singers costume.

"Did the USO tour in the 40's with the group," he chuckled, watching your bewildered eyes as you ran your fingers through the soft fabric of the outfit, laid out across the bed. "What do you think? Too much?"

"I am going to look awesome with Maria, you have no idea."

A playful frown formed between his brows. "Really? While the actual Captain America is-"

"We both know you're gonna go with a shirt, Steve. Let's not try to fool each other." you giggled, slowly approaching his sitting figure to wrap your arms around his neck and let him pull you into his lap. "It's so cool. God, you're so cool- can't believe I'm dating this guy."

His soft laughter was muffled when he reached in to bury his face in your hair, tugging you closer to his chest as he did so. "You're going to look beautiful in it," he hummed. "Gonna give me the best kind of nostalgia."

"I thought you hated the USO tour-"

"Shut it," he whispered, earning a quiet chuckle from you. "Everything is bearable when it's with you."

Quite literally, every single negative thought he had about the tour vanished the second you walked into the room, hand to hand with Maria Hill who was indeed dressed as Captain America, tight star spangled suit actually fitting her so well that you thought maybe, she could pass as him if she wanted to.

But boy, oh boy; Steve couldn't keep his eyes off of you. Blue sleeveless vest with a deep V cut and three pairs of stars on the collar, flowy red and white skirt short enough to show just enough of your legs, adorned with a black pantyhose. You had a blue cap placed carefully on top of your styled hair, and white gloves going up halfway through your biceps; he couldn't help the way his gaze followed you through when you approached Tony and Nick with Maria, completely ignoring the way Sam nudged his side and waved towards your direction to get your attention. "Damn, she left you for another Captain America? That's cold."

You excused yourself, squeezing Maria's hand slightly before letting go, graceful strut clicking against the marble flooring as you made your way over to the duo. "Hey Wilson, who are you supposed to be?"

Sam faked offense, one hand dramatically going up to his chest to clutch it. "Excuse me? Nat King Cole?"

"I'm supposed to guess Nat King Cole just from the.. suit?"

"Why else would I wear a suit- alright, you know what Cover Girl, I'm gonna leave you and your star-struck boyfriend alone and get as drunk as I possibly could," he declared, giving Steve -who was still watching you with a smile on his lips- a pat on the shoulder before offering you a salute and walking away, towards Rhodey.

You finally returned your attention to your boyfriend then, meeting his sparkly gaze with a big smile. "Hey Cap."

"Wow."

"I know." you giggled. "Maria and I make quite the couple." Steve didn't react much to the joke, too busy staring at your maroon lips and the way they curved upwards- feeling red, white, blue fireworks going off in his chest.

Not that he wasn't used to seeing you all dressed- you could pull literally anything off, in his eyes. From tactical outfits to the silliest pajamas known to humankind, you always looked stunning to him, filling his insides with a boyish kind of giddiness, which he hid well through the serious exterior.

You approached him a bit more then, resting a glove-clad hand on his chest before reaching up to press a kiss against his cheek, trying to break him off of the trance he seemed to be under. "Earth to Rogers?"

"You look incredible," he chuckled, mostly to himself, before getting a hold of your hand to twirl you around once. You did so, rather gracefully, the flowy skirt going up and down in the most hypnotizing way possible. "I might have to keep you away from Maria at all costs. She might just forget to remain professional as Captain America."

"She's equally as hot so it kinda goes both ways," you shrugged, earning a playful scoff from him before he held your hand again, this time bringing it up to his lips to place a soft kiss on top. "Ooh, chivalrous."

"Can we- do you want- hold on, let me just," he cleared his throat as you bit down on your lower lip, holding back a laugh. "Can I get this beautiful lady a drink?"

"Did I just get you all flustered, Rogers?" you chuckled, slowly dragging him towards the bar as he laughed along, sheepish. "Good thing you have no idea what's under this outfit."

"What? Wait, what's under the outfit?" he asked, although his hopes of getting an answer died down quickly when the two of you met Natasha, Bruce and Clint by the bar. Clint, by the other side of the bar, immediately went in for a high-five with you before pulling out the bottle of champagne Tony opened earlier on. "Why is Steve incredibly under-dressed next to such lady?"

"Heard he's not the Captain anymore." Natasha chimed in, earning a laugh from the group as you nodded.

"Oh, yeah! Much more fun, working with Captain Hill." you purred, basking in the warmth Steve's hand on your waist provided. "Wonder where she is.."

"She's busy being given a headache by Tony," Natasha replied right after Clint handed the two glasses to Steve and you, earning a timid smile from you before you took a generous sip, letting the liquid burn down all the way through your throat. "The two of you by the door might've made me question my sexuality a little bit."

"Alright, can everyone just stop trying to bed my girlfriend?"

"Bed me? Oh my God, you're actually back in the 40's," you laughed, with Steve playfully rolling his eyes and tugging you closer to his side. "Might as well ask me to dance Waltz with you to Doja Cat."

"I might, actually-" but you cut him off with a quick kiss to his lips, before slowly stepping away from him with a wink, still holding onto your glass.

"That's too bad, a Star Spangled Singer only dances with Captain America herself!"

"I'm starting to get used to this thing," Maria twirled you around again, earning a hearty laugh from you when you nodded and did the same to her.

"You look badass in it. You should take on the name, seriously."

"Only if you agree to be my sidekick. But in that outfit."

"I don't think I could fight in high heels and a skirt-"

"You don't have to," she chuckled, shaking her head. "Just give me a thumbs up when I do good and sit pretty, that'd be good."

You laughed along, pulling her to your side tiredly when the music changed again. "I actually considered coming as Captain America's shield but then Steve pulled this out, so…"

"Steve was the one pulling this out?" she asked, giggling. "He knew what he was getting himself into, then."

"Mhm. Speaking of…" you trailed off, slowly pushing yourself apart from her embrace and reaching to fix her hair before smiling again. "I should find him. I kind of deserted him for you, hotshot."

"Best choice you've ever made." she chuckled and squeezed your hand one last time. "Have fun, m'kay?"

"You too." you hummed before walking away from her happily, eyes scanning through the room as you made your way over to the bar again. A squeak left you when you felt a strong pair of arms wrap around your waist, pulling you close to his chest with a laugh. "Steve! You scared me."

"And you, miss, haven't answered my question." he spoke, right against your ear. You let out a soft chuckle at that. "What's under the outfit?"

"My endless love and adoration for a certain Steve Rogers." you replied seriously, causing him to laugh and hide his face on your neck. "For real. I got a Captain America trading card in my bra and that's like, all."

"I thought you meant something like, I don't know, a very patriotic lingerie set or…"

"Please don't bring politics into our bedroom," you chuckled, slowly turning around in his hold to wrap your arms around his neck and smile up to him. "I was messin' with you. Wanted to rile you up solely for my own amusement."

"Left your manners on the nightstand?"

"Exactly." you hummed, letting him pull you closer just to press his lips against the side of your forehead.

"Well, there's always the fourth of July for that, I hope." he shrugged, and you really wanted to just kiss him until his poor lungs went dry. "Say, what does one do with their girlfriend on a Halloween night?"

"Horror movies are on the table," you mumbled. "We'll steal beer from the kitchen- and of course, the candies Tony insisted on buying to give to trick-or-treaters as if any child ever comes around here."

"Sounds like a deal. But you'll keep the outfit on, right?"

"Only if you're gonna be the one to take it off when I'm too sleepy to do so."

You could still hear the music through the thick walls of the compound, although a lot more muffled. Your chest was against Steve's back as the two of you cuddled up on the bed, a low-budget horror movie from early 2000's on your TV while you absentmindedly played with his fingers, massaging his palm with your thumbs mostly to ignore the logical explanations he came up with for whatever demon was after the characters. "Stevie?" you looked up a bit, earning a hum from him.

"Yeah?"

You let your head fall back on his chest and closed your eyes, a smile forming on your lips. "You're my favorite Captain America, you know that, right? Even though Maria is a close second."

He laughed at that, arms wrapping around you a bit tighter before he left a kiss on your hair. "I know. And you're my favorite Star Spangled Singer."

"You'd lose your virginity to me in the 40's too?"

"Christ- who even told you about that?"

Anyways I fucking love the Pitiful Children and I’m so glad we have two versions of it

Like the instrumental in both has a really cool vibe to it and it’s awesome. Two river in particular has this specific guitar that slays so hard?

The song in general tho is somehow very sinister yet kinda silly?? Like, it fully amps up the squip’s villain vibes to the max and perfectly sets up for all the conflict in the play and everything! But there’s all the squip’s beep boops or squip squip squips. Which objectively is a little silly but I just love the robot scatting. It’s such a fun detail but also somehow the fact that it’s a little lighthearted makes the sinisterness of squipping everyone a bit more insane because it’s portrayed that way

And ooougg and don’t get me started on the choreography. The fact that the squip rises up when Jenna does after she gets squipped is so cool!! We also get so much hand cheorography and it’s so neat!! Aaaa! The fact that jeremy follows along and the way the squip guides him?? All the other squips!?? Just the way they move around across the stage in a really orderly way and shit!!!! It’s so cool!!

Some of the costuming is fun too. I like two river’s squip designs because it looks like they stepped out of the matrix absjbskdbskd

But like both version’s lyrics are sooo good. And incredibly catchy. I would say more but literally I just am rotating them in my head

it's a very neat movie! it's dark comedy but it's a little bit of a body horror film

still very good though, watched it with my mom

Movie: Death Becomes Her

✰ Plot: 5/5 Gods this movie was funny, and the premise was very interesting and fun to think about. Honestly wish there were movies like this made now so we could use the new movie/film tech we have for special and practical effects like the neck twisting all the way around and the bodies falling apart at the end! Honestly Helen and Madeline are toxic yuri and I support them

✰ Set Desgine: 5/5 LISLE'S HOUSE FUCKS SEVERELY oh my gods practically drolling over the big sets with details and ough, i feel sick its so awesome

✰ Special Effects: 4/5 the effects in this movie had me floored. They were so cute and funny and oh my gods just so silly. Sometimes a little tacky (madeline falling down the stairs) but other times there were too noch (the hands going from old to young) and that's not even taking into consideration the neck breaking and such. They might not have been the best quality compared to some other movies but they made me laugh and felt perfect in the movie to me. <3

✰ Costuming: 5/5 that red/pink dress Helen wore was fantastic, absolutely stunning (god i'm a fashion nerd too aggghhhhh) BUT LISLE. oh lisle. if i was attracted to women i would want to kiss her so so so bad. i do want to kiss her. not even kiss maybe just sit at her side those OUTFITS DARLING wow. also her vibes matched so well and wonderful, once again, fucks severely.

✰ Sound Desgine: 4/5 i didn't have to use subtitles :3 sometimes the effects of thunder or lighting made certain lines a little hard to hear but hats a personal thing cause im autistic and struggle with words and such, but it wasn't the whole movie and the audio mixing was pretty damn good!!

✰ Top Characters:

Lisle, gotta give it to her honestly she had my heart. vibes: toxic. Love her tho lol

Ernest, my boy deserved better, wonder what his life couldn't been like if he hadn't met Helen or Madeline. vibes: babygirl. Glad he had fun after 50 tho

Helen, between my two main girls i like Helen more, she's just- a little more deranged. a little more fucked up honestly. vibes: one of those stickman with the blood photos. Her eyes when she had gotten shot was HORRIFYING babygirl don't look at me like that i'm shaking (positive)

I loooove new Halloween outfits! They all so different and so bright, just as i love.

But i have to agree, Asmo's costume looks.. not.. finished? Like idk, i still love it tho. Also Diavolos outfit is awful. Other ones are awesome

AND BECAUSE OF SUCH A GOOD SET OF COSTUMES I MADE A COSTUME FOR MY OC BECAUSE DRAWING OUTFITS IS SATISFYING

You will say "Sosha, but Diavolo and Barb is the ones wearing Zombie costume" SHUT UP, lets admit that this outfit is a lot more Slay than Diavolo outfit.

The movies that I watched in 2022.

and what I thought of them.

Encanto: A really cute story, which I enjoyed but I did think it had a few pacing issues. Still did the job it was suppose to due, the theme hit home and the songs were fun (until the kids that I teach at the kindergarten made me play them one too many times and now I can't stand them)

A New Year's Medley: I usually have a hard time with films that follow more than so many little storyline that then just come together in the end. Some of the stories here were fun, others a completely bore.

The French Dispatch: There is a certain charm to the way Anderson sets up his movies and the visuals which is sometimes more interesting and fun than his actual plots. This one falls a victim of that, I fear.

Kiki's Delivery Service: So very cute, so cozy. Like a hot cup of tea on a sweet spring evening. A delight.

Valley Girl (2021): I had to google what movie this was, which probably says it all, really.

Pirates - Goblin Flag: the humor in this movie was just a bit too over the top and there wasn't really a good flow between it and the action in my opinion. Made it less fun.

The Tragedy of Macbeth: So stylized, so cool, but I didn't really enjoy the movie all that much.

Turning Red: Colorful and cute story with fun songs. I enjoyed myself a whole lot!

The King's Man: You know, I thought this was a step in the right direction in trying to recapture the charm of the first film. A good mix of action and comedy and it seems to know it's own strengths.

Doctor Strange - Into the Multiverse of Madness: This was a bit of a weird movie but in a fun way. Doctor Strange as a character doesn't really do anything for me in the MCU world, but I enjoyed how much this movie felt like an homage to old horror movies and sometimes feels like that b-horror movie at times. Way too long tho.

Everything Everywhere All At Once: What a treat! There was so much imagination and passion that went into this film and it just shows. It bleeds into everything and makes this film an unforgettable experience.

Berdreymi: I often felt very uncomfortable watching this film. I felt that it was possible to convey the message and the brutality of the world these boys lived in without it being showed down our throats like it was. And the kind of fantasy-but-not-so-fantasy twists in the movie just came a little too late.

The Norseman: Wow, that really was just a big hollywood viking that very much tried to have some new approach to these types of stories, but I personally couldn't see that from the characters, how it depicted the viking age (from a lens of hollywood) or the way the story unfolded. Quite boring.

Margaret - Queen of the North: A good costume drama, interesting period to be sure. I enjoyed the story even though nothing about it felt fresh or new. Just well made.

Tove: A sweet story about an awesome woman and her life. I thought it would cover more of Tove's life and I kinda felt like it just left me hanging there at the end.

Not Okay: Much more interesting than I thought it would be. There was a fair amount of satire and commentary about social media going around in this film, but I didn't feel it went deep enough.

Pleasure: From time to time it was very difficult to watch this movie or some scenes. I had to take it in several sections to finish it. It's really raw in it's approach, but that's also the point of it, I think.

Soul Vibes: I stopped paying attention to the story towards the end.

Welcome Árni: A sincere and beautiful story about a uncle of mine.

Do Revenge: Funny and clever. Really enjoyed the characters and style of the film. Went in slightly different directions than I thought it would, but in a good way. Fun twists.

Pinnochio (2019): This is an Italian version of this story, which was just okay-ish, but what really struck me (in a good way) was the costume design and all of the look that the movie had. There was a bit of that passion for filmmaking, of old hollywood tricks, there which I enjoyed.

Hocus Pocus 2: Not a sequel we needed, but a welcoming one nonetheless. It really felt like nothing had changed and there was a good heart to this story.

Death Becomes Her: Infinitely camp and that is what is awesome about it. Never takes itself too seriously, which I adore, but still has so much heart so it never feels too much.

Rosalina: It's kind of like the Reign version of Romeo and Juliet that doesn't take itself too seriously and that's what's good about this movie. The language and the way the characters act is all modern everything the film still feels a bit like it was written and filmed in 2016 and then just forgotten for several years. But you can have fun watching it.

Catherine Called Birdy: This was fun! There was humor and heart there and it was just a good, kind of contemporary comedy in a historical setting about what it was like to be a young girl of a certain age in the Middle Ages. And although it is possible to find more stories with a similar format, with similar emphasis, I felt that there was a little bit of a breath of fresh air in this story. And the casting was great.

Triangle of Sadness: Absolutely amazing and thought provoking. You never know where the movie is really going and a really cool take on this kind of human nature and our desire for power, however it comes to us. But still, I thought this movie was a bit too long.

Nope: Totally my type of horror. A bit strange, but really good reflection the characters and how their backstories have shaped them. That rejection and the greed for the limelight. A satire on Hollywood. The horror has something to say, but isn't just there to make you feel scared.

Knives Out: I don't normally go for a lot of mysteries like this one, but based on all the praise I've heard for this movie, I really couldn't ignore it anymore. And yes, there were really good twists there and it was constantly surprising. A really good fun.

Ready or Not?: This was my second attempt at watching this movie, because I started it once and I just couldn't finish it. This is not exactly my type of horror. So brutal and bloody almost for the sake of being brutal and bloody. I find this kind of chase frustrating to watch, but I can totally understand why it gets all the praise it does.

Enola Holmes 2: This little netflix movie series (because I hope we get more of Enola Holmes) is that unashamedly modern take on costume dreams that I personally love. It may be a bit exaggerated, but it knows it and plays with the form and really seems to know where its strengths lie. This is just such fun adventure, the puzzles are fun and it's just a blast. Managed to capture everything that was good about the previous film without seeming like too much of a copy.

Disenchanted: It wasn't exactly the sequel we needed, but still the good movie that mostly lived up to everything that was good about the first film. It has this fairy-tale quality and it seemed like the people behind it enjoyed the story and wanted to do it well. Very nice callbacks to the previous film and also just old fairytales and never took itself too seriously, as films such as this really have to do.

Broker: personally, it didn't touch my heart as much as the director's previous film (Shoplifters). There is a bit of the same heaviness among all these broken characters that come together, but I just expected to feel more things while watching it. It was almost like this story was a little too big for this movie.

Decision to Leave: I can appreciate the theme and the story on paper and I enjoy what the movie is saying and all that, but I can't necessarily say that I had a lot of fun with it. I thought it was a bit long-winded.

Last Christmas: A cute, maybe a little predictable Christmas movie but that is sort of what you're going for with these types films. I'm not really into them personally, they don't get me in the Christmas spirit, but some are the fun entertainment and it's a easy-going watch, which is nice.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story: I will watch pretty much anything that my man Daniel Radcliffe stars in, and this movie is no exception. The humor, however, never really got to me. I can see what the movie was trying to do with this parody of all the celebrity memoirs we've seen in recent years, but I just didn't enjoy it.

The Wonder: A slow but amazing film that perhaps has a rather obvious twist, but does it so humanely that you kind of don't care about it until it comes towards the end. Lovely character work.

Hatching: An incredibly cool, well-made horror and the idea behind it is neat, but I thought it dragged a bit. It wasn't quite hitting the mark as much as I wanted.

Knives Out: Glass Onion: I actually enjoyed this movie just as much as the last one. Loved all the twists and turns here and it manages to keep what was good and fun about the first movie while doing something entirely new. This is a romp!

Just in case I didn't say it enough

I love The Blood of Youth so far!

The shady monk Wu Xin. I love!!! Liu Xueyi FINALLY a role you can really dig into again

Xiao Se is just. Peak the kind of character I enjoy. Even more so being the lead in a wuxia.

Lei is so cute and earnest. I'm gonna give it to his actor, he feels natural and it really helps the character role Work Well. I wouldn't enjoy this character nearly as much if it didn't feel so natural.

And my dude Luohuo Jidu is so handsome in this. So handsome. And I already ship him far too much with Rui I want to see their story moreeee

Anyway Awesome so far! Very fun! Very solid pace! And something I enjoy so far is how the writing makes a direction, then Commits! You know what I mean. If it says a guy can't do martial arts (even if I suspect maybe he can) rhe scenes KEEP showing him avoiding the fights and acting like a regular person in them. If a guy looks like he's about to grab some people and fly off, he Does. If handsome boy is Close with brothel worker Rui there's a scene of him in his underclothes being helped by her privately. It's a small thing that obviously shows should generally do - commit to the direction the writing is taking. But too often some shows just totally go in random directions and have Random Plot drive the story rather than going the course the story is naturally designed to go. I think this Very logical story flow helps the pacing seem so fast, and helps make it feel there is a bigger plot even tho the episodes feel very Shonen anime episode of the week individually. Which again is reminding me a lot of stuff I enjoyed like Love and Redemption, Word of Honor, Ice Fantasy.

I wouldn't be surprised actually if this has the same set designers and costume designers as Word of Honor due to certain choices. The cgi though is really unique and fun for potentially that reason alone visually. The first episode really showcases how unique it goes in terms of cgi and character fighting styles.

just finished watching the off broadway musical adaptation of anastasia and im so sorry to any fans of it but i could not take this musical seriously omg

things i liked: the costuming was really cool, and the dresses were awesome to see. i watched it with a bootleg in 360p but they looked very high quality and well done from what i could tell. the sets were immersive! the cast and their singing were obvs good too. of the songs, once upon a december was the biggest standout.

lastly, i liked the change of main antagonist from evil sorcerer rasputin (???????) to the soviet officer gleb (in theory). honestly i haven't watched the 1997 movie since i was like, baby, so i have no attachment to that movie's main villain, and a plot that's more sensical for the specific locations and characters it's supposed to be based around are welcome imo.

things i disliked/didn't care for: everything else lmao. every five minutes i swear i was rolling my eyes (mostly for its royalty/bourgeois ass-kissing but lots of other smaller things too).

right off the bat smth i thought was rly funny was how in one (only one but still) of the songs they consistently pronounce paris the native way, but with anastasia they just use the english pronunciation the whole time. anastasia, dammit, not ann uh stay ja >:/

more seriously, i could not stand the pretentious sucking up to aristocracy and monarchy throughout literally every line in this musical omfg. no lily i can not give less of a fuck abt you missing being part of the monarchy in russia when you are lamenting this in your expensive ass dress surrounded by french aristocrats. the way they vaguely mention russian people disliking the tsarist rule and completely brush that off, with every other portrayal of the common people being abt how much they obsess over the romanovs and how poor they are (bc they were.... less poor during the monarchy????? ??? ????) was funny in a "wow these writers are NOT self aware" way. maria in particular is so much less sympathetic to me when she also has to spend her on-stage time waxing poetry about how lame the ussr is lol. fitting i guess tho considering broadway's monetary gatekeeping

other big thing is the amnesia just being a very obvious plot device, with her remembering events from her past seemingly at random. i guess i don't have a big criticism for this but it was another thing i really couldn't take as seriously as the musical probably wanted me to.

the ending is probably the only part where i have actually constructive criticism -- it felt like they were going back and forth on whether anya cared about being royalty or not. the ending speech about anastasia being a fairy tale would suggest that she's been able to move on from her whole quest and that anastasia (the royal princess who was purported to have died with her family) could rest for good while anya could marry dmitri... but that monologue is narrated over her marrying him in her aristocratic red dress, like a few minutes after she asserted herself as grand duchess anastasia romanov to him, sooo?????

i think they were going for a "anastasia is reclaiming the childhood she was robbed of her memories of by cOmMuNiSm and now she can live out her prestige in paris" theme but then why include that ending monologue other than to be an obvious "this story is fictional" disclaimer that no one needed in the first place? idk, i would've preferred if she just let that title and name rest with the music box left to maria, and married him as is or smth. probably would've gone better with her amnesia that's basically almost totally forgotten about after act 1, having a new identity as anya that she can actually realistically live out now that the tsar has been abolished in the ussr. but then i guess she'd have to go back to the ussr to complete that theme, which we can't have bc cOmMuNiSm or smth, so she just has to stay in paris.

i'd be more fine w the above stuff if the music was like, showstopping, but idk it was fine i guess. besides once upon a december, they all felt like very standard songs to have in a musical to move the plot forward. i know there are some songs they added in the broadway version, but mehhhh i don't rly care enough to check them out. im sure they're ok. anddd afternoon spent ✅

ok anon, it's probably silly of me but i like you so i am contractually obligated to share my favourite shows for you to watch! The links are youtube playlists. :D

Legend of Zhen Huan (you can sometimes find it titled Legend of Concubine Zhen Huan or Empresses in the Palace): a 2011 Chinese period drama following the rise to power of a young woman in the imperial harem during the Qing dynasty. Don't let the number of episodes frighten you! You will be left wanting for more at the end of every episode! I guess you can say the drama is "old" by internet standards, but I think it aged gracefully. There clearly was budget invested on costumes and locations, so even now you can find people making gifsets on tumblr of the costumes! This is the drama that got me into Chinese dramas. It is SO good! The romance is incredible. I highly recommend it! If you can read Mandarin, I recommend reading the books it is based on, I've heard good things about it! The series recently received a new, excellent translation thanks to the awesome Magpie Brigade team. You can watch it all for free on Youtube. Stay away from the Netflix version titled Empresses in the Palace, which boils down a lot of the storyline into 6 humonguous episodes for western audiences.

Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace (also titled Legend of Ruyi) was originally slated to be a spin-off of Legend of Zhen Huan following Zhen Huan's emperor son and his love story with his childhood friend. It was eventually cut off and the series now stand on its own, though the drama is still based on a novel by the same author. The drama follows Ruyi Ula-Nara's journey from being the emperor's childhood sweetheart to the disgraced empress. Again, don't let the number of episodes put you off! I swear you WILL devour them all! The drama is very beautiful and relatively recent! It's free on youtube with English subtitles. It's heartwarming, romantic, tragic... I love rewatching it.

Nirvana in Fire is, simply put, The Count of Monte-Cristo but chinese version lmao. A young man comes back under a new identity to clear his dead family and army from a sinister plot that costed him everything, but also to help his childhood friend become the new Emperor. It deals with a lot of themes and does it quite gracefully, and has great, complex antagonists. It's also one of the first dramas I watched! Funnily enough, this is an adaptation of a BL (Boy's Love, aka yaoi, aka Men Loving Men) novel. You'll only get crumbs of it in the series tho because of Chinese censorship.

Magnificent Century is a Turkish period drama centering around the rise to power of Hürrem (known in the West as Roxelana), from slave to legal wife of the sultan. The story is set during what is considered the golden age of the Ottoman Empire: the reign of Suleyman the Magnificent (fun fact: he's actually known as the Legislator in Turkey thanks to his many reforms). This show is actually a soap opera, so it's quite dramatic but oh so gripping! I believe it also dates from 2011, so you may find it a bit cheap looking especially in the costuming department, but don't let that frighten you! After years of mourning the fact I couldn't find it anywhere, they finally put it on youtube with english subs! I know it looks super long, but trust me you will find yourself binge watching it at 4am...

Magnificent Century: Kösem is a spin-off following another famous sultana, set roughly almost a century after Hürrem's story. I actually never watched more of a few episodes because its storyline is basically the same as in its original series... Nonetheless, it is more recent and has much more budget, so you may want to start with this one especially since you don't need to have seen Magnificent Century to watch this one. Choice is yours!

The Rebel Princess (also titled Monarch Industry) is a costume drama set in a fictional, ancient dynasty. It follows a princess and her marriage of convenience to a freshly promoted general. The drama is very beautiful and the romance is so good! It's also packed with action and plot twists! I literally binge-watched it. The drama features a lot of veteran actors, so the acting is really good. Available on youtube with english subs. I didn't watch it on YT so idk about the quality of the subs. I can give you alternatives should they prove subpar!

autism be damned i have seen the lion musical again !!!!! : a lion king musical review

this was supposed to be the third silly review but in the end it's gonna be the first ^-^' anyway, this was the second time i went to the lion king (last time i went was on may 4th), this time i had restricted view front row tickets &&& u can read more about this under the cut !!!

jsyk these go everywhere and aren't just abt the show i do talk abt the sillies that happen before and after it :D warning this is like. very long. like insanely long. no part 2 we die like men

saw the show on : june 18th 2023, théâtre mogador

first things first that was my first time going alone in paris and all went well until i tried to find the theater and kept getting lost, i made it tho !! and in time!

the cast changed a little but i saw stanley kassa as simba again (understudy), simon gallant played ed this time (saw him as zazu last time and he was crazy proud of himself at stagedoor, as he should he was awesome), & a new nala actress (paola fareri), new timon (romain apelbaum), & other kid simba & nala

my seat was ! much closer to the stage than expected it felt like i was IN the stage, but it's still not bad at all even for a restricted view seat !!!

during the circle of life, this time, there were no technical difficulties with the elephant so i got to see it ! i thought it was going to hit me with its tusk lol, & i saw zazu run so i was so happy

cried again during the key change 💚

olivier (scar) does change his energy depending on which kid is on, it's pretty different from last time!

also it's VERY impressive seeing him act from so close

it wasn't until the lioness hunt that i realized that i just Could Not see the entire back of the stage and when actors were there i could just see the top of their head

anyway. the lioness hunt 💕💕 i just love the choreography

during i just can't wait to be king it felt like the lyrics changed? like they were singing the movie version? and i couldn't tell if it felt this way because they changed them since the 2007 french cast recording or because i just didn't remember properly

anyway i love zazu. zazu my beloved. i just love this bird.

hyenas time i love them theyre my favorite characters :DDD i actually picked this seat because it's on the side of the stage they go to during the other song >:]

first time seeing simon as ed and he's got a really cool energy !!! shenzi (mélina mariale) & banzai (abdel-rahym madi) killing it as always

actually got startled when mufasa (noah ndema) roared

BE PREPARED TIME. MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SONG. olivier is wonderful, the hyenas are wonderful, this is starting so so well.

and then. before the breakdown, the hyenas start walking around on set, as they do ! they go right in front of my spot, AS I PLANNED! AND I AM SPOTTED (lime green hair helps!)

im having a main character moment wth. banzai is like "i love your hair color! he needs the same" while grabbing the puppet's hair, and im just "AA THANK YOU???!!" and shenzi and ed gave me a high five im just. that was a "and everybody clapped" moment but i was having a blast okok thank u

BANZAI WAS LOOKING AT ME WHILE SINGING FROM THE BONE STAIRS THINGS I WAS SO HAPPY???

the stampede made me sad, but i wasn't exactly looking at it bc i was curious about what was happening in the wings

there was this small child in the crowd who was crying LOUDLY and everytime everyone else would go"awwww :("

rafiki mourns is still one of the songs i find most beautiful, i especially love when the lionesses cry bc i think the tear effect is so cool

i could see more actors & dancers up close it was so cool i love looking at the costumes & makeup

all goes well, UNTIL i start feeling rain on my arm and next thing u know it starts pouring

30 minutes in olivier breitman comes out of stage door holding the smallest carboard box over his head, he hides under the franprix with us and he signs my notebook too before running to another spot (he was so sweet i love him sm)

the rain stops after an hour, only dancers came out and . i suspect it was abdel but i cant besure bc this one girl told me he left when the rain started -, and i go back near the actual door

ten minutes pass still no one, but i still want to see simon or stanley; two dancers come out and are like "hey you can go inside if you want to hide from the rain"... WHAT. anyway i go inside stage door

i heard the girl who was waiting with complain that i got in, i dont know if i should move or not so i decide to stay near the door

stayed there for maybe 15 minutes and then this guy came to close the gate that led to the theater and i was like. yeah okay these guys are not coming out or already left

AND THEN I HAD TO WAIT ANOTHER HOUR FOR MY TRAIN TO START. anyway i got home at 10 thank u

Life can be hard and some days can be rough, especially in your line of work where people competed for the spotlight on a daily basis. but that's life and that’s the road you chose to walk through. And it's alright, after all, what's life without a spark? A movie without a breaking point? or a shift at Clayton's without drama?

This was one of these days, the kind of days who kept you on an edge as your body and mind both ached for a break.

'Just roll with it. just a few hours for your day off.' You silently said to yourself.

Being a young artist in New York was a challenge you’ve taken on yourself, luckily for you working at "Clayton's" was a good way to start a career. most people who started working there were young talented artist who were determined to make an impression over the industry. The place was always packed with many famous people, from actors to singers and producers. So, in many ways, working in "Clayton's" could be a ticket to Broadway or the music industry. And that was the reason you moved there in the first place.

You tried the traditional way, but after months of trying to get into college and fix your past mistakes, like your high school career, you decided that this path wasn’t for you. no matter what you did or how hard you tried your ADHD still managed to kick your ass. So, that’s how you ended up as a singing waitress in NY. You liked your job, truly. You liked singing and dancing and meeting cool people along the way, but sometimes it was just too much.

"You look like shit" Aaron said from his spot at the bar.

Aaron was a sweet guy and probably the only straight person in your group of friends. He was charming and talented and most importantly; he was the first friend you got in NY.

Aaron pulled his long brown hair into a bun as he chuckled at you. You huffed in frustration in return.

"Thanks" you muttered as he passes you a mug with coffee, hoping to help you get a grip before the restaurant opens.

"You need to rest" he said. "properly"

"that’s overrated" you joked and took a sip.

You felt an hand on your shoulder and you turned around to meet your friend's stern gaze. "You, okay?" she asked

"Always" you answered Mackenzie's question and she raised her eyebrow, knowing full well you were lying.

"we should sing as a warm up!" David, another one of your coworkers and Aaron's twin brother said.

"Let's not" Aaron said as he rolled his eyes at his brother's enthusiasm.

You laughed quietly as the two started bickering. Mack and you glanced at each other knowingly. Both of you already know who will win in the stupid argument.

15 minutes later, after a group warm up and Aaron's dramatic sighs 'Clayton's' was open for business.

It was a nice evening, not too full, not too loud. And most importantly, not too many known faces.

Of course, you liked to have famous people on your shifts, and it could obviously be a game changer for you but it can get intense at times and you want in the mood. Seriously, how can you be the only one who found singing "defying gravity' in font of Idina Menzel as a very stressful experience?? You were terrified by the idea you'll fuck up in front of the original singer- and make a total fool out of yourself.

When 10 pm rolled around, every opinion you had about the evening flew out the window. at this point, the restaurant was full with costumers and some known faces as well, and you found yourself holding every inch of you together as you approach the table who was occupied by the one and only Meryl Streep, and some fellow little women cast members.

*rule number 1 of working at Clayton's: don't make costumers feel uncomfortable. Don't annoy the costumers, don't ask for autographs if they're famous and generally treat them as normal and respectfully as you can. *

"Hello, my name is Y/N and ill be your waitress for tonight" you introduced yourself with a small smile. The women smiled at you brightly.

"How does it work" Meryl held the tablet with a puzzled expression. "Am I that old?" She joked

"Barley" One of the other women, Emma fucking Watson, said.

"I know it looks complicated-" you told them as you took the tablet from Meryl's hand."-But it's pretty simple, actually, I promise. As you can see the top part of the tablet is divided into two sections: The right one who says 'ask for a waiter'- which means that your waiter- which in this case, me, is busy- probably performing at the moment, and you can ask for a different waiter." You said with an ease, knowing the explanation by heart.

"The left section says 'ask for my waiter' which is a pretty simple one to understand... I guess- if you'll need me for whatever reason, you can press it and it'll page me. Feel free to use it." You said with a smile as you scanned their faces, making sure they understand the first part.

"And the bottom section?" Saoirse asked.

"The bottom section is the 'refill' sections. It will get into validation only after ill place your order in my own tablet and send to the kitchen." You explained as you gestured to your own tablet. "It's pretty useful, the point of it is that you can ask for a refill without having to social with me. Its awesome"

You noticed one of them, Florence pugh, scanning the tablet with a small smile- as she listened to your explanation. She was absolutely a sight for sore eyes, that's for sure.

"Thats pretty cool" she said and you nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, I got really excited over it when I started working here" you admitted awkwardly "most importantly- When a section isn't relevant its will be grey instead of in color so you won't get confused. Like, for example - if You haven't ordered anything yet you can't get a refill, for the obvious reason. or if I'm not performing you can't ask for another waiter... which means you're stuck with me for the time being" you finished with a small chuckle.

"I don't think any of us mind that" Florence smiled and the others agreed. The blonde smiled at you again and you blushed slightly. "You're singing, right?" she asked out of the blue, just when you were about to leave and let them look through their menus.

"Yeah, i do. In a few minutes, actually"

"Thats cool! Good luck" she smiled and you wondered if Emma, who set the closest to you, could hear how fast your heart's beating.

"Thank you" you said with a smile and turned around to the stage.

"you paged? I'm guessing you guys ready to order then" You said as you approached their table after your performance.

"YOU WERE SO GODD!" Florence said excitedly.

"Thank you" you blushed slightly.

What. The. Fuck. Y/N?! You scolded yourself.

The others joined into the conversation with their own compliments and you thought you'd die when Meryl Streep, the legend herself, complimented you.

After another few moments the conversation calmed downed and moved to the next, and most important topic: the food. You tried your best to not blush under Florence's soft gaze and keep your focus on the other members of her table as they consulted you about the dishes, but damn, that was hard. luckily for you it didn’t take long and a few minutes later, their order was sent to the kitchen.

The next hour and a half weren't much different. you sang and placed orders, you smiled to costumers and even pretend to laugh at some old man's joke. And maybe (just maybe) you glanced over to Florence every now and then.

The thing about Clayton's is that apart for the famous people who visit there frequently, it also contains many of the rich and the snobs of New York, so you weren't surprised when you got paged from a table who was occupied by two guys with fancy clothes and their parents credit card.

"Hey" one of them said to you as you approached them.

"hey, welcome to Clayton's! You're David's table, right?" You said and pointed at your friend who started his own performance.

"Yeah, the fag one" the other guy said and your smile fell.

Take a deep breath, Y/N. It's not worth it.

"I see you guys already ordered a few minutes ago" you said as you checked your tablet.

"Yeah" the asshole confirmed.

"Okay, in that case, how can I help you?" You asked politely as you could.

"we would like to get the check." The first guy said politely as he pulled out a few bills from his wallet. "Keep the change" he said as you took it and made sure it was enough.

"Thank you" you smiled politely and made a mental note to give David his well-earned tip.

"my brother want to know if you're single" the asshole said and the nicer guy looked at his with his eyes wide.

Shit.

"I'm sorry, I'm in a relationship" you lied after a moment, hoping the lie will spare both his feeling and any more questions in the subject.

The guy nodded in understanding but on the other hand, the other guy didn’t seem to get the massage.

"I'm sure he won't mind sharing" the asshole said and you felt sorry for the poor guy for being related to this ass.

"What the fuck Chad" the nice guy said as chad smirked at you.

"yeah... that’s not going to happen." You glared at him "have a great weekend tho" you gritted out and turned around to leave.

you were taken by surprise when you felt chad's hand on your ass. Again, what the fuck?!

"What the fuck is wrong with you' asshole" you gritted out and moved away from him.

Don't make a scene. He's not worth it.

"C'mon-" he started to say as he got up. You moved away, knowing you were cornered since the place was full, the lights were deemed and the music was loud.

"Don't touch me" you said and moved away; you're back hitting an empty table who stood nearly.

"Hey what's going on here?" You heard and turned to catch Florence walking to you.

If a look could kill chad would’ve been dead. that’s for sure. It's like the sweet and excited Florence had left and a different, intimidating (and hot) version of her took her space and so help you god, you were glad she was on your side.

"Nothing! we were just leaving, really" Frankie said.

"None of your business" brad said and Florence raised her perfectly shaped eyebrow, daring him to cross her.

"I see" she said "well, I'm sure y/n won't mind my intruding"

'Thank god for Florence Pugh.' You thought.

Before chad could press the subject any further David, who just finished his performance, got there. You were sure he noticed that something was happening.

"what's going on here?" he asked after he scanned the situation quickly.

"nothing as I said to your friend, we were just leaving" Frankie said again.

he didn’t want to draw any negative attention, just like you, and thankfully for the both of you, not many people noticed the situation.

This time chad didn't answer, he just glared at Florence and you while his brother pulled him away from the place.

"so, are you going to tell me what happened?" David asked Florence and you after the two left.

Florence looked at you, waiting for you to answer him.

"Nothing" you lied. "it's okay David, you can go" you promised your friend. David looked at you with his 'I done believe you' expression, but he didn't press it any further. He just nodded before he turned around and left.

Rule number 2: do not make a scene under no circumstances. At Clayton's, everything you do while you're on the clock is practically showcased. You slip? you fall? you sing out of tune? Its under a spotlight, everyone can see that and everyone will have something to say about it. Thats the thing about this place. most people who started there and moved on to bigger things as Broadway or Hollywood were practically trained to keep their best poker face, act on the demand or pretend that everything is okay when it was clearly not.

"You should go back to your table" you said to Florence

she looked at you with an unreadable expression before she went back to her table. You didn't have much time to read into it since a few minutes later you found yourself at her table, printing their check and having a small friendly conversation with the women. You smiled at them as they left before you turned your tablet off and went to cover for Aaron at the bar.

"I thought you guys left" You said with a smile when the blonde approached you a few minutes later.

"Why did you lie?" Florence asked with the same unreadable expression from earlier.

Okay. No smiling then.

"I didn’t" you pulled out two shot glasses and filled them with tequila. The blonde gave you a 'are you kidding me' kind of look and you couldn't help but to chuckle. "I didn't see a reason to make a scene over nothing" you explained and downed one of the shots.

"It wasn't nothing Y/N" she said before taking the other glass.

"its fine. I'm fine. He didn’t do anything " you said as she downed her shot.

"Yeah, because I was there" she argued.

"I can handle guys like him. Seriously, at this point it might as well be a part of my job"

"you're not helping yourself"

"I liked you better smiling" you chuckled as she glared at you.

"I'm sure you did"

"shut up"

"How's your back?" She asked/

The blonde definitely didn't seem convinced about the chad situation but you were just grateful for the change of subject.

"It will be alright"

"Good"

"I appreciate your worry, truly. But I'm fine and I really don't want to hold you back here over it" you said

"Who said I was worried" she smirked at you with a raised eyebrow.

"Uh, you don't?" You played along

"Nope"

"Then why are you still here? Its almost 12 am, don't you have something better to do" you teased her

"no. Do you?" She turned the question and you laughed.

"I guess not - considering the fact I work here and I'm still on clock"

"Oh, please we both know this place is about to close" she argued your logic

"True" you admitted

"So, if you have nothing better to do, and you don't, would you like to go out with me? You kinda owe me after I saved your ass earlier"

"Uh, and here I thought you did that as an act of kindness" you joked. A small smile playing on your lips.

"Ew no" she said and You laughed. "Well?" Florence pressed with a cheeky smile.

"Yeah, why not. It's not like I have something better to do"

"Just what I wanted to hear" she joked.

Bitter Taste: Iwaizumi x f/reader Pt. 1

THIS IS SO LATE and I’m a fuck up hahahaha (kinda ironic this was 2 weeks late for Mental Health Awareness month)

I am crediting my girl @kuso-deku for giving me Iwaizumi brain rot to begin with. Iwaizumi stands and stretches in the cinema. The movie had been good, but long, he figured it was a little after midnight. “What’d ya think?” Kuroo asks as they exit the theatre. “I hated the ending…” Oikawa gripes, “I hate endings where everyone just dies.” “You are such a princess Tooru, I swear, it’s a metaphorical ending… did you not catch all the symbolism in the opening credits?” Iwaizumi sighs and turns his phone back on, trying his best to ignore their bickering. Slowly, notification after notification pops up… all from you. He blinks, surprised. You had declined his offer to join him for the film, stating you had previous plans attending a close friend’s birthday.

Iwa opens the messages from you. He sees first the selfies. You look beautiful, extravagant even. Your dress is beautiful, it compliments your figure perfectly with the corseted bodice. It’s white and so is your lace mask. Broad, feathered angel wings rest on your back. Angelic would have been a word he’d used to describe you before, but now, it was confirmed. He wants to keep staring at the photos but Kuroo and Oikawa are starting to become too curious about the contents of his phone. He scrolls and relaxes his face to look more casual. But it’s hard when your intoxicated messages are so darn cute.

You are clearly drunk and he laughs to himself before Kuroo peers over his right shoulder. “Well she’s thinking about you at least,” he smirks. Oikawa peers over Iwaizumi’s left shoulder, “ooo play the voice message.” Oikawa taps the message before Iwaizumi can give him an answer.

“Hiiiii Iwaaaaaa, hope you like the moovie and you’re having a good time, cuz I’m having a preetyy good time, they gots free margaritaaass. Okay byeeeee”

The guys laugh and Oikawa presses the next one.

“Hey Iwaaa, I made up a song about you, ready?

Iwaizumi

Doesn’t know what he does- to me…

Sshfhsijknfhahaha I cant remember the rest som’n bout… som’n I dunno. Byeee”

“Okay, Ushi says that I need to say sorry for sending so many…” you pause and then whisper, “drunk messages, but I’as only tellin’ ya I ssink ‘r awesome ‘n you should totally come to this party and hang out with me… you’re awesome, okay byeee”

Oikawa and Kuroo pause and look at Iwaizumi. “Ushi?” Oikawa asks, “like Ushiwaka?” Oikawa’s eyes are narrowed and he gags dramatically in disgust. Iwaizumi nods and walks to exit the theatre. “Wait… that’s her friend who’s having the birthday party?” Iwa grimaces as Kuroo chuckles. “No wonder you’ve had a stick up your ass all night.” Iwa glares at him, “they’re just friends… apparently… I don’t know, she said they’ve known each other for a really long time…” Kuroo claps Iwaizumi on the back. “I think you should definitely go to the party.” Iwaizumi starts to object but the ring of his phone draws attention, and he answers it. “Heyyy you're outta th’moviee, heheeheheha,” you slur. Iwaizumi laughs softly and smiles, “yeah, I’m out of the movie now, are you… good?” There is so much background noise, it almost drowns out your sweet sleepy voice. “I’m soooo good… … I just-” he can hear your voice drop to a drunken whisper. “I’z just hoping to see you today,” you mumble finally.

Iwaizumi can feel his heartbeat quicken, his head reeling. “Oh really?” He plays cool but then instantly regrets it when you give him a serious answer. “Yeah, I was really hoping you’d come to the party, even for just a little,” you murmur. Iwaizumi can’t help but chuckle. You were pretty cute like this, not normally so transparent. You were actually quite hard to read, so sweet but guarded and teasing too. You were a friend of Oikawa’s first and he had met you through him. He’d liked the way you sat cross legged on the couch smiling, chin in your hands while you asked questions and listened to his answers. Your eyes sparkle when you hear something you like, and your face lights up when you talk about things you find interesting.

“Ya don’t have to, I can just see ya another time,” you add. He’s been silent too long which causes him to speak without thinking. “No, I’d love to see you, I’ll head to you now.” Kuroo and Oikawa are silently cheering him on and Iwa turns away in embarrassment. “Really? Okay! I’ll drop my pin… as the kids are sayin’ these days hahaha.” “See you soon, drink some water okay?” “Mhm, I will, see ya soon!”

You were at a club owned by Ushijima’s family. A place called ‘Eagle’s Nest’. He’d only known you for a few weeks but he couldn’t help his infatuation. It was immediate, the night he had gone to Oikawas for game night. You spoke to him so easily not knowing him at all and laughed at his little side jabs to his long time friend. The way you looked at him… Iwa knew then that he wanted to see you smile, hear your laugh, and that he would be happy to assume the responsibility of making that happen.

He was surprised when you had declined his offer for the movie, feeling that you both had some definite chemistry, but Iwaizumi was even more surprised when you had said that you had prior plans with his old time rival Ushijima Wakatoshi. Iwaizumi hadn’t seen him since high school but they knew a few people in common, Oikawa being one of those people. Oikawa could sure hold a grudge but Iwaizumi took all of his comments with a grain of salt. Ushijima often came off entitled and cold, which would leave Iwaizumi with a bad taste in his mouth. Maybe Oikawa had the right idea holding a grudge… But grudge or not he wanted to see you, hear your voice and admire you all dolled up.

When Iwaizumi arrives at the club he is met with a large security guard. “Invitation?” he grumbles. Iwa remains calm but a small trickle of fear runs down his back. Iwaizumi gives the guard a casual smile before he starts to answer but he is interrupted. “Iwaaaaa,” you cry from the top of the stairs. The mask you’d had on is now resting on top of your head, the delicate features of your face now exposed. The floofy skirt of your dress bounces with your excitement as you run down the stairs. You crash into him, throwing your arms around his neck. You bury your face in his collar and still momentarily. Drunk and bubbly, you melt when Iwa wraps his arms around your waist in return, avoiding your costume’s wings. “Mmmm,” you hum, breath hot against his skin, “you smell good.” You pull back and stare into his wide eyes. “You look incredible,” he offers, a slight pink tint to his cheeks. You grin in return and simply take hold of his hand. “He’s with me,” you beam at the guard. Iwaizumi is doubtful this trick will work here. But he is surprised when the guard steps aside saying, “as you wish Miss L/N.” You giggle and pull Iwa towards the doors. “I’ll bring you some cake later, okay Jurou?” Jurou laughs, “just have fun darlin’.” “You’re the best,” you call behind you as you push open the doors. Iwaizumi can’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy knowing that you are on a first name basis with one of the body guards at the Wakatoshi’s club. How close were you with Ushijima?

Blue and purple lights illuminate the vast space while black tiles make up the main floor. The dance floor is sunken, in the middle of the club with a small set of stairs leading down to it. It’s made entirely of glass, beneath is a saltwater garden of different plants and coral.

“You’ll need one of these,” you explain, swiping a simple black mask from the welcome table. You hand it over to him and pull yours down over your eyes. Iwaizumi adjusts it to where he can see. “You look so handsome,” you admire. He grins, “what about you? You’ve got wings!” You laugh and adjust your mask back on top of your forehead. “I’m a swan, and Ushi said I couldn’t be a swan without wings!” You spin for him, trying your best to flap the feathered wings. Small pieces of confetti glitter rain from the skirt of your dress. Iwaizumi takes in your face illuminated by the lights of the club. Blue and pink dancing over your cheeks as you smile up at him. “What?” you giggle nervously. Just a few weeks but he is mesmerised by your everything. He shakes his head and tries to move on. He wanted to tell you how he felt but this wasn’t the right time. It should be when you’re sober, when you can take in his words properly.

You coax him down towards the bar. “You’re sure it’s okay to sneak in uninvited guests?” Iwa questions. “Well, I asked Ushi ‘nd he said it was okay, so yeah!” You grin but notice Iwaizumi’s reserve. “It’s really okay, I promise, let’s just get a drink,” you suggest and take his hand. “Only if you drink more water,” he smirks. You roll your eyes at Iwa, “I drank some water before you got here actually.” You look back at him as you both head down to the bar. “I’ll prolly regret that yurr seeing me like this tamorow, ya know,” you call over the blaring music. “It’s cute, you’re cute,” he assures as he leans against the bar, “I didn’t know you thought about me this much until I saw all the snapchats and voice messages and texts.” You cover your face in humiliation, “I knowww, I’m sorry but you were on my mind a lot, alot alot, and couldn’t stop think about ya, and the booze told me to keep on messaging…” You trail off, finding the last shred of your filter to keep you from talking. The bartender hands you your water and you take a long drink.

“Iwaizumi,” a voice projects over the baseline. Ushijima stands tall advancing towards where you both stand. His expression is neutral though, his eyes keep darting to you and then back to Iwaizumi. Ushijima is dressed as a knight, his silver mask hangs languidly around his neck. “Ushiwaka,” Iwa acknowledges, “this is a hell of a birthday party.” You giggle and point at Ushiwaka, “he’s 28 today; getting sooo old.” In that moment, Iwaizumi watches him do something he had never seen him do before. Smile… and then laugh. Ushijima wraps an arm around your waist and pulls you closer. “You’re just a baby, you’re only-” You wave your hand in front of Ushiwaka’s face, shushing him. “No, no, Iwa doesn’t knowww, don’t tell him,” you plead. “She’s only 23,” Ushiwaka says. You hold your face in your hands once more and groan. Ushijima pulls your hands from your face, “just barely twenty three too.” You glare at him and look back at Iwaizumi embarrassed. “Did she not tell you her age?” Ushijima asks Iwaizumi. Iwa shrugs, “She didn’t, but I never asked,” Iwa shrugs casually, addressing you now, “didn’t seem important since you carry yourself so well.”

You turn to Iwa, mouth open like you’re about to respond but Ushijima swipes the glass from your hands before you can finish. “Drinking water?” You look up at him. “But it’s my birthday… and this is a party… you need something stronger…” Ushijima beacons the bartender with a single flick of his hand. The barman pours three double shots of a clear liquid from a foreign looking bottle. Ushijima takes a glass and hands it to you, before handing another to Iwaizumi. Ushijima gives him a wink as he loops his arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him. He raises his glass, the violet lights illuminating the liquid. Iwaizumi follows his lead. “To my Juliet, the belle of the ball,” Ushijima bellows. You smile slightly and shake your head. “No no, to you Ushi, it’s your birthday, not mine, we are celebrating you!” Your eyes find Iwa’s, but you leave your glass raised. Ushijima grabs hold of your hand that’s still wrapped around the glass. “Cheers,” He tips the glass towards your lips and you swallow the clear liquor as he feeds it to you. You down it all in one go and Ushiwaka smiles wide once again. “She’s good, huh?” With that, Ushiwaka clinks his glass to Iwaizumi’s, “to you brother,” he assures. Iwa is surprised with the sudden sentiment. “And to you,” he replies before downing the shot. The liquor is surprisingly smooth, expensive, and strong. Iwa can feel his head starting to get light from the small portion that was in the glass and Iwa wasn’t a light weight. “Strong huh?” Ushijima smirks. Iwaizumi nods then turns to the bartender to signal for a water.

Ushijima turns to where you stand swaying slightly with the music. “Look at her, she gets drunk so easily,” Ushijima smiles. “How are you feeling, princess?” he shouts over at you. Iwa turns away and downs his water in disgust. ‘Princess?’ Ushijima shouldn’t be calling you that if you’re both just friends. You blink and give him a smile and a thumbs up. There was a natural innocence about you, a childlike wonder and curiosity, the embodiment of sanguine. Ushijima’s air was sometimes sinister, like he was taking advantage of your natural trusting nature. Iwa watches as Ushijima’s large hands rest on either of your shoulders and he pushes you back and forth like a pendulum between his palms. You giggle and try to push him away, “Ushi stooopp.” He laughs with you and continues pushing you around, “you’re so cute and small though, see?” He places a hand on top of your head and you still. “I said to stop,” you mumble. “And I did,” he retorts before letting you go.

Iwa watches the sudden weight of gravity find you as you stumble in your heels. He catches your arm just in time. Your arms find their way around his neck once more, your face in the crook of his neck. You pull away and Iwa examines your foggy eyes. “You okay?” You nod, pushing off of Iwa’s chest. You fix your hair, “it’s fine, he just messin’” you turn to Ushijima, “and someone doesn’t know when to quit.” You’re pulled away into Ushiwaka’s arms. He sways you back and forth, your back held against his chest while he says soft apologies. He whispers something to you and you nod. Iwaizumi wanted to pull you away from him. Not because he was jealous, but because the way that Ushiwaka was behaving with you was odd.

“Y/n is a little bit tired, why don’t you join us in VIP?” Iwa smiles and gives his thanks, trying his best to hide his scowl. Iwa follows after you and Ushiwaka, upstairs and under velvet ropes hoping that he will find a good moment to pull you away. But instead you are pulled onto the couch beside Ushiwaka. He lights a cigar and offers one to Iwa, but Iwaizumi declines with a simple, “no thanks, don’t smoke.” It’s strange the way that Ushiwaka keeps whispering in your ear, giving you sips of his drinks, and blowing smoke in your face. “Ushi, stop please, the smell is making me sick,” you whine. But he just pulls you closer to him, chuckling all the while and does it again. You’re laughing and poking his face, but it’s not out of joy... Watching Ushijima interact with you the whole night has been like watching a cat toy with a mouse.

Iwa grimaces when Ushiwaka tickles you. “Stop-stop-don’t-stop,” you giggle and howl. “She said to stop!” Iwa raises his voice. Ushijima’s eyes shoot towards Iwaizumi while you squirm off the couch. Your eyes are heavy as you walk towards a dark hallway and disappear into the shadows. Iwa’s eyes flick to the entrance to the hall. Ushiwaka sits in a contented silence, sipping a drink, “she’s so dramatic,” he sighs. He continues smoking, arm rested over the back of the purple velvet sofa. Ushijima takes a sip of his drink, swirling the ice in his glass. Iwa doesn’t move to break the silence no matter how expectant Ushijima’s expression was. He stamps out his cigar in the tray before addressing him.

“She’s awfully talkative, and incredibly fond of you…” Ushijima starts, an odd smirk painting his expression. Iwaizumi raises an eyebrow in intrigue and Ushijima’s face hardens. “She won’t shut up about you since she met you… it’s annoying...” Iwaizumi, remains quiet, the silence settling over the men like a thick fog. The only sounds are muffled club music and the ice tinkling against Ushijima’s glass. “I’m going to be honest as a friend… bad idea.” Iwaizumi can feel the rage bubbling inside his gut, “I don’t think that what’s going on between us is any of your-” He’s cut off by Ushijima.

“I’m really looking out for you Iwaizumi, girls can break hearts and Y/n is kind of known for that… she’s just a sweet soul, makes friends easily, but love? That’s harder for her… doesn’t have the best taste in men I’m afraid, I want to protect her and you from a situation where I can already see the conclusion… I get that you like her, everyone does.” Iwazumi leans forward, “does that include you?” Ushijima is stone faced, then gives a cold laugh. “You’re funnier than I remember, Iwaizumi.”

Iwaizumi rises and heads towards the hall you disappeared down. If he sat in front of him any longer he was going to say something he regretted… and you still haven’t come back. He slips into the dark hallway as you’re exiting the bathroom. Your mask has been removed and even in the dim lighting you look pale. “Hey, what’s happened?” You look up at him embarrassed, your dress almost as wilted as you are. “Got sick…” you mutter. You’re shaking slightly, arms wrapped around yourself. “Oh Y/n, are you alright?” he sighs. His arm starts to reach for you but he thinks better of it, pulling it back to rest by his side. His eyes widen as he feels the warmth of your hand in his. He didn’t figure that you would want to be touched right now. But your fingers interlace with his, your skin soft. “Are you good to drive?” you whisper. His hand instinctively tightens around yours protectively. “I only had whatever Ushijima gave us, it was strong but I’ve had water- yeah I’m good.” “Would you mind taking me home?” you ask, as you start to walk back towards the VIP room. “Sure, course,” Iwaizumi replies gently. He feels how your thumb brushes over the back of his hand in silent gratitude. The gesture has his heart beating hard against his ribs. Iwa walks forward, his eyes on you and nothing else. Your brow is furrowed and your expression painted serious which was unusual from how he knew you to act.

“Iwa’s taking me home now,” you announce and walk towards the stairs. Ushiwaka’s face hardens, “I can take her home, you shouldn’t trouble yourself,” he addresses Iwaizumi. You smile and turn around facing Ushiwaka. “But Ushi, ‘s ur birthday, you can’t leave this party jus’ ‘a take me home,” You turn to Iwa now. “Let’s go,” you say and Iwa nods, still holding your hand. “Where’s my hug, princess?” Ushijima calls after you. You stop in your tracks and close your eyes, taking in a deep breath. You drop Iwa’s hand slowly, hesitantly. You walk back slowly and stand before his open arms. He lifts you and you groan. You’re still hugging him tightly but not quite with the same intimacy as before.

As Ushijima places you down you turn to look back at Iwa when Ushijima catches your face with his large hand. He coaxes your face back towards him then leans down. Ushiwaka locks eyes with Iwaizumi as he whispers something in your ear. Then he presses his lips to your cheek, still not moving his eyes away from Iwaizumi’s. Iwa tries his best to remain neutral but he can feel his lip creeping upwards in contempt. Ushiwaka is too prideful for his own good it seems.

You take Iwa’s hand again, leading him towards the exit. An exasperated look rests on your face. “What did he say to you?” Iwa asks. You sigh and shake your head. “‘S nothin’, ya shouldn’t worry your pretty lil head ‘bout it.” Iwa can’t help but allow a smile. He raises an eyebrow at you, “think my head is pretty?” he asks. He’s met with your hazy gaze, “I do,” you say simply. Iwa wasn’t prepared for such a straightforward answer to his question.

Once out of the club, the valet pull Iwaizumi’s car around. He’s careful not to let you walk too far on your own. Sick, in those ridiculous shoes and still quite drunk, he opens the car door for you before hopping into the driver's seat. “Will you put your address in?” Iwa hands you his phone and you type it in as asked. “Thanks for doing this,” you sigh. “Yeah of course,” he says as he puts the car into gear. A few streets of city light pass by in silence. Your hands are resting in your lap but your body is still trembling. “I can- umm- pull over if you need me to…” You wave the thought away with your hand, “it was the smell of the cigar more than anything…” Iwa’s gut begins to boil again. Your voice is soft, almost defeated. He speaks before thinking better of it. “Does he always treat you like that?” You look at Iwa and make eye contact briefly before his attention is back on the road. “He was being a little extra weird today, maybe because y’all used to play volleyball together or… I dunno really, he just gets like that sometimes…” You trail off, allowing your thoughts to fade into the rearview. The silence is deafening and you feel the need to break it. “He’s really nice too though, don’t get me wrong, he cooks for me and calls to check in, he even gets me little gifts, so I know he cares.” Iwa shakes his head, “if he cared he would have stopped when you asked him to.” You take a breath, “I know but he was just having a night I guess…” Iwa pulls into your driveway as the GPS notifies him that he has ‘arrived at the destination’. Scary Monsters! Story Summary (Part 1)

I don’t think anyone’s translated this story yet so I’ll just summarize it

The more events we have, the more I’m convinced that they take place in an alternative timeline or something. I don’t know if this was confirmed in the guidebook though

Wow I still can’t summarize for shit

Episode 1-1 Everyone should have fun

- Another day of school ends for MC and Grim

- Grim randomly mentions that there’s too much distance between the Ramshackle Dorm and the school (isn’t it the opposite though?)

- When they get back to their dorm they are stunned to discover that the front yard has become a weird mix of Chinatown and Halloween

- Lilia shows up (and introduces himself again, hmm) and scares us, apparently everything there is made by the Diasomnia dorm students

- This is our first time seeing Diasomnia mobs, who are arranging the decorations in the yard

- Deadbeat Crowley strikes again! Apparently he told Diasomnia that MC and Grim agreed to let them set this stuff up

- MC asks why all the decorations, and Lilia explains that it’s for Halloween! Apparently Malleus insisted that they spend Halloween at the Ramshackle Dorm

- the ghosts are out and they’re impressed by how extravagant it all is and even encourage them to do more without minding us (thanks guys)

- Grim doesn’t know what Halloween is, shocking everyone

Episode 1-2 It’s our festival!!

- The ghosts explain that Halloween is an important event in Twisted Wonderland

- Lilia explains that it’s when all the ghosts return to this world from the other world; the decorations are to entertain them

- Everyone wears costumes like ghosts and monsters because many ghosts like to play tricks on people (since there’s not much opportunities to interact with the living); these ghosts can be dispersed by giving them candy

- Lilia mentions there are also evil ghosts that can’t be controlled (foreshadowing much?)

- Lilia implies that he knows about the ghosts we met in the mine???　Or something like that??? (”I think you two also have experience with ghosts who do bad things?”)

- Wearing costumes is for scaring those evil ghosts back and driving them away...but that’s just a story from a long time ago, and now it’s just for fun cosplay

- Ghosts say not to worry about anything, Halloween was always like this since they became ghosts

- the living can’t actually see ghosts since they’re not supposed to stay in this world unless they have strong attachments or goals, so the ghosts who do stay in this world are very unstable existences *cough* Eliza *cough*; they can’t be seen in places other than places like NRC where there’s strong magical energy, so yeah ghosts are actually rare

- Ghosts emphasize that it doesn’t matter whether or not you can see ghosts or not, Halloween is supposed to be fun and that’s all that matters

- MC says that Halloween is also pretty famous in their hometown

- Ghosts (in front of Lilia): Oh MC you have Halloween back in your world too? What a coincidence (How many people know MC is from another world??)

- Lilia doesn’t seem surprised so I assume he knew

- NRC has a special Halloween event too, which we will learn about soon

Episode 1-3 It’s quite photogenic

- The ghosts start snapping pictures with their phones (yeah that’s right)

- They bought them this year online

- Grim is jealous because he has to share with MC

- They have a MagiCam account too, they only have 5 followers

- Grim is surprised they show up on camera since usually that can only happen with the ghost camera

- Lilia explains that since Halloween is the time of the year where this world and the other world are the closest, so this is when ghosts are the most powerful which is why they can show up in photos; it’s just in NRC tho

- They tell us to look forward to Halloween

Episode 1-4 The best Halloween

- The next day in class, Crewel says it’s one month to Halloween and everyone’s excited

- Ace and Deuce are also excited, talking about decorations and stuff; even the Ignihyde students come out of their rooms for Halloween

- Crewel: The week before Halloween is “Halloween Week”, which is when the students run a stamp rally event for outsiders

- Each dorm choose a place in the school as a spot for the stamp rally and decorate it; what’s important is that anyone can freely participate--in other words, guests from outside freely walk around the school

- The reason for this is to thank the people who live on this “Sage’s Island” (where NRC is located) for their understanding and cooperation, and it’s a chance to show them how much the students have grown and stuff

- In order for the event to move smoothly, each dorm sends out students as staff on the management committee

- Naturally, this is the first time we’re hearing of this (thanks Crowley)

- Deuce tells us not to worry and ask him if we have any questions since he’s part of the committee (it’s chosen by lottery)

- Also there’s a Halloween party on the 31st which everyone can join, students and ghosts included

- Ace’s brother showed him pictures of the food

- It’s next to prom as a big event at NRC (yeah prom exists too)

Episode 1-5 Are you ready?

- A month later, 8 days before Halloween

- the committee gathers, it’s composed of Deuce, Cater, Jack, Azul, Jade, Kalim, Vil, Epel, Idia, Lilia, and Malleus

- Deuce was an hour early to the meeting lol

- Idia is there in person

- Vil is the head of the committee, he talks about the stamp rally and how guests who collect all seven stamps get candy at the entrance gates

- Cater: “Wow Headmaster you’re so generous!” Jade: “It’s a small bag of candy that isn’t even 100 madol” (I wonder about the finances of the school sometimes)

- The stamp rally is from 10 am to 10 pm, they have to be there at all times so they’re excused from classes, taking turns in each dorm

- It’s going to be a hectic time but everyone’s fired up

- They decide to go around and see all the different dorm setups and costumes, Diasomnia is first

- Malleus chose Ramshackle for the stamp rally place because it’s a dump basically (Deuce: Sorry MC)

Episode 1-6 They are crying with joy!!

- The committee’s at Ramshackle; Sebek is as Sebek as ever

- Malleus and Lilia change into their costumes which is eastern dragon ghosts

- Diasomnia was traditional ghosts last year but decided to change it up this year

- Sebek is simping so hard he’s crying lol

- Vil made the costumes for them; he complains that Malleus gave an 1 hour lecture about how “eastern dragons (ryuu) and dragons are completely different” after he said that it was meaningless for Malleus, who is a dragon, to dress up as a dragon

- Malleus goes at it again and is apparently talking very quickly like Idia, what a nerd lol

- Crowley says that when the rally first began, everyone just wore sheets over their heads, but some students started putting more effort into it and then everyone started doing it too and the dorms are basically competing against each other

- Silver says that the Ramshackle decorations are inspired by a country Lilia travelled to before; Lilia says that some ryuu are even the guardian deity for a family

- All the decorations use up a lot of magic to maintain, as expected of Diasomnia

- Next they’re going to Heartslabyul’s spot, which is near the greenhouse

Episode 1-7 For a scary taste

- They’re in the Sub-Tropical Zone, where it’s decorated with the theme of graveyard, and the costumes are skeletons with white ribbons as the bones

- They had a hard time balancing authenticity and the fun of Halloween

- Deuce suggested they be “skeletons covered in mud” lol

- Cater was the one who came up with the idea of using ribbons and lace from looking through his MagiCam likes

- The heart you can see through the “ribcage” is made of roses

- the gravestones are made of styrofoam

- The Heartslabyul students are used to working hard for Unbirthday Parties and following rules so it wasn’t hard for Deuce to order his upperclassman around; it’s actually more relaxing since there aren’t so many weird rules

- Malleus: As expected of Rosehearts, you discipline your students well every day Riddle: That makes me sound like a tyrant! (Uh...)

- Next is the alchemy classroom where Octavinelle has their spot

Episode 1-8 The richest

- Everyone agrees that the classroom is too creepy and will probably make little kids cry

- Floyd: I know right??

- The Octavinelle costumes are mummies

- They decided on that because it’s the complete opposite of merpeople

- They combined the old-fashioned image of mummies with style

- The decoration theme is “Mad scientist’s lab”

- The culture tank looking thing lights up at night

- Everything was finished up by a contractor since they’re busy with making a Halloween menu for Mostro Lounge

- Kalim is confused since all the dorms get the same amount of money for decorations and costumes

- Apparently Jade is in charge of accounting and he’s supposed to make sure no one goes over budget or there’s no weird money transfers and stuff like that (Who assigned him this job?)

- Jade: Me? Do something suspicious? Why I never!

- What they focused most on was cost optimisation

- It involves haggling and using old stuff; they used up all their budget

- The remaining money from the other dorms will be used for the halloween party

- TLDR Octavinelle is scary

- Next is Scarabia, near the shop

Episode 1-9 Isn’t it an awesome idea?

- They arrive at the shop which looks all messed up

- Jade: It’s just like MC’s Ramshackle Dorm

- Scarabia’s costume is werewolf

- Jack says there’s a legend in his hometown about becoming a werewolf if you stay up late

- Kalim tries to act scary but fails bc he’s too cute

- Jade: It’s like a visiting a petting zoo

- Kalim says that the rugs and fabrics they used for the decorations are all made from plastic bottles and recycled plastics, and that they’re aiming for a society where humans and nature coexist happily--in other words “Sustainable Halloween”

- It’s all Jamil’s idea of course

- Next is Savanaclaw at the colisseum

Episode 1-10 We worked hard!

- there’s a ship

- Savanaclaw’s costume is pirates

- Jack talks about reading a book about a pirate who fought against a giant crocodile in elementary school and how he pretended to be a pirate

- It’s a famous series apparently, called the Adventures of Captain Beard

- Wow Leona is acting like a dorm leader for once? This really is an alternate timeline

- You can go inside the ship and Ruggie made the gold coins

- Even Idia is impressed by how good the replica is

- Everyone is shocked when it’s revealed that the Savanaclaw students made everything by hand; they’re able to do it because of training everyday for magift

- Next is Ignihyde in the library

Episode 1-11 This much is just common knowledge

- Ignihyde does projections of jack o’lanterns and creepy looking trees

- Ignihyde’s costume is a pumpkin knight

- The pumpkin knight is from a horror movie called “Pumpkin Hollow” which no one except Idia has heard of

- The pumpkin knight is filled with the hatred of uneaten, undecorated and thrown away pumpkins and it returns to the village it was harvested in to attack people each night

- the decorations are recreated from the movie and Idia is supposed to show up as the pumpkin knight

- Idia can talk normally bc his face is covered

- Now for the last dorm, Pomefiore in the mirror chamber

Episode 1-12 The Dual Play of Terror and Beauty

- Idia can walk around in the armor easily because it’s made of light materials, and the sound effects come from a speaker (what a nerd)

- Usually, the mirror chamber is closed to outsiders, but Halloween Week is an exception

- Photography of the mirror of darkness is forbidden since it’s so important

- They get there and it’s...not decorated at all!!

- Rook explains that the mirror chamber is already beautiful so there’s no need for decorations

- Vil: Our existence is the greatest collaboration that will make the mirror chamber stand out; it’s important to dress to match the location

- Pomefiore’s costume is vampires

- Everyone’s speechless by the beauty lol

- They also focused a lot on the makeup so it will give the impression of captivating vampires or something like that

- the aim is “degenerating beauty”

- Vil and Rook are both sad that vampires can’t look in mirrors, so they can’t see their beauty lol; that is why they are so attracted to the mirror chamber (I think this is their backstory or something)

- They only put up signs banning photography

- Crowley: Look! The mirror’s happy too! Mirror: ...

- Halloween Week starts tomorrow
