He brought Cooper’s wrist to his mouth, inhaled deeply and then brushed his lips across the racing pulse point.
“You’re afraid.” Cooper nodded, then let his head tip back, gasping, when Oliver pulled him closer still and moved to nuzzle over the scars on his belly.
“Why?”
“Because you can hurt me.” It slipped out without Cooper thinking, and he almost kicked himself when Oliver pulled away to stare at him seriously.
“I would never.”
“Not like that. You could hurt me because I... I care.” The last words were nothing more than a mumbled exhale that your average person wouldn’t have heard.
Oliver heard.
He stood, their bodies pressed together, and he leaned in so his mouth was hovering over Cooper’s. “In that case, you scare me, too.”
Ok but with ylfa's backstory it's just. There's a wolf who can take people's skins and mimic their voices? So there have been many ppl who have gone into the woods, been attacked by a wolf, and then what's returned has looked and sounded and hell maybe even acted like them! But a bit more monstrous. With hair on their hands, and a low snarl, and sure they sound like our dear loved one and they look like them but they're scary. They're scary, and they've changed, and shouldn't they be dead?
And maybe if they're scary they aren't our loved one - they're actually just the scary thing in disguise yes of course! Cause they would never scare us like that. They could never be transformed like that. So it's not them, so they're dead.
Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Coupé, 1989. Chassis no. ZA9CA05A6KLA12692 appeared in and was wreaked for Martin Scorsese's film The Wolf of Wall Street. The 25th Anniversary model finished in Bianco Polo over Bianco interior is one of 12 built for the US market. It is the exact car that Leonardo DiCaprio crashed in the film, apparently Scorsese was dissatisfied with the damage done during the stunts and had a flatbed truck collide with the Bertone-designed Lamborghini multiple times to inflict more damage. It is to be offered at auction by Bonhams and has an estimate of US$1,500,000- $2,000,000.

finished The Wolf at the Door by charlie adhara and i really liked it a lot! was a little worried starting another mystery series right after Madison Square Murders but this one actually gave me a lot more of the detailed investigation stuff i was left wanting for after MSM, so that worked out perfectly. and im not a mystery connoisseur but i think Wolf at the Door did a great job building dread and suspence and pointing suspicion down multiple plausible angles, and overall having a very engaging plot. (even if some of the protocols involving civilians on scenes was.. questionable. but hey. it was still fun)
the angle it took with the werewolf part of the story also felt refreshingly different. wolves living on the fringes of society / being hunted by government agencies has been done before so i was very intetested to see it from the perspective of one such agency attempting to work with wolves. i thought all the drama and uncertainty (and trust issues) involved were well done and dealt with realistically, and i was also surprised at how multidimentional Cooper felt in particular. he compelled me. he felt mature, but still scared and capable of making mistakes and expressing emotion and i really liked that. he had depth. and while Olliver remains mysterious, i think he fit the vibe of the story, and im curious to find out more about him with the next books.
the romance itself also had me worried at first - with Cooper's instant attraction. but having to read about him trying to remain professional and focused on the case while they both knew about his attraction, and not being able to act on it because they are professionals and strangers and absolutely dont trust each other (yet 😉) was very enjoyable. and i know im going to be thinking about the submission scene(s) for a long time to come.
