It’s just annoying how bfb is missing the point, which like, okay some of this is basic courtesy for playing on a server, but I imagine they really thought they were doing a Really Cool Betrayal. But they weren’t for many reasons.

To me, Traps are a way to level the playing field. It’s something that takes alot of time and planning on order to work, but it’s worth it, because it can (if done right) kill even the strongest player. It doesn’t work thematically when it’s done by players that would have won the fight anyway. When Rek traps Clown, it’s interesting and showcases a new trap no one evens heard of, but also relies on Rek being able to convince people to trust him in the first place. When Mane dies to an arrow canon it’s the work of many players over a long period of time to trap him, and when he finally dies it’s because he’s let his guard down ! Compare that with, the two strongest players on the server spawn trapping a guy they hadn’t really been opposing. The first two work while the second doesn’t because they have motivation, a clever trap with lots of time put in, and even have a way to escape the trap !! (As well as not ruining someone’s else content, but creating an interesting story)

Second point is just that the betrayal doesn’t work either. I explain it more in this post, but tldr is Flame had no motivation for betraying Mapicc. He had no reason and could have just two v one Mapicc at any other point, it feels like overkill to betray. Zam has this quote that’s something like, “Betrayal is just twisting the knife to hurt more,” and that’s really all this is. We are given no explanation or context for it, and worse apparently Flame tried to play it off like he wasn’t a traitor after. It’s really only comparable to the Jumper betrayal in s5, in that he was a double agent the entire time. But, do I have to say why this is so much worse than that ? Jumper spent months building up trust and goodwill, everyone here knew Flame wasn’t loyal. And he and Mane had 1(one) lame staged fight(They didn’t even kill eachother during the fight !!! They were just like, “oh guess we’re enemies now trust”) in which we’re supposed to believe Flame is ride or die now.

It’s just overall, this is bad manners and not an interesting story. Bfb consistently put their own content over others and whether or not they recognize it, it sucks. This in addition to their running from fights and refusal to die, makes for uninteresting characters that never undergo any meaningful challenge and change. Here’s to hoping they learn for next season !

This is a tangent, I'm here to entertain with needless rambling

The deep rooted hatred for taco I see in the II community genuinely concerns me. Especially since those people tend to be Mephone "apologists"(For lack of a better word, I love Mephone don't get me wrong) despite how taco is the "active" side of the coin to his "passive". The connections between them are there trust me Im connecting the dots. Ive connected them.

I understand that she's done bad things, but blaming her for her shortcomings when she doesn't and never had the same support group to change as Mephone did makes me a little ehh.. Getting upset because Microphone showed her support in the new episodes simply because you don't like the ship(I understand why people wouldnt but thats not an excuse to deny her anything), and because Taco doesn't know how to change yet and you refuse to see her as anything redeemable. I'm not big on shipping, thats not the point of this tangent, but Taco finally having someone to support her and help her change is a GOOD thing. Microphone was being the bigger person there, she was being mature and thoughtful because Taco clearly needs the help. The fact that people continue to deny Taco any kind of growth even if she goes about it in the wrong way makes me deeply uncomfortable. Because the moment any character does anything bad that isn't HER they don't say anything about it. She was shunned by her peers because she was playing the game and continued to 'play the game' so to speak.

Theres a deep rooted hint of misogyny in the way they treat her, but I wont yap about that you dont need to read allat.

I understand people have reasons for not liking characters! That's ok. But I've seen them actively go out of their way to harass people that DO like Taco and actively criticize enjoying her character.

They tend to take it as defending her actions. Which is not what's happening. I don't think oscommunity could handle vriska is all I'm saying.

Hear me out. People try playing with miraculous ladybug with aspects of princess tutu.

NOW I'm never writing a fanfiction becayse thise are alot of work, I prefer reading and my grammar abd spellchecker are terrible.

BUT I really like how when you combine one Fandom with another it can do REALLY interesting things with the themes and which characters fit which roles...depending g on what you are going for and the ratio of how much of a influence each sude will have...like will it follow the first fandons storyline or the second more? Or a combination of it? Will the characters be allowed to go ham and go off in New directions or have yo work in the roles they are given? Ect ect. And like most fanfiction ideas so much can be done depending on who you want to end up together...who will play who ect ect.

So I decided to play around thinking about how a miraculous ladybug fanfiction inspired by princess tutu would be.

While there is DEFINITLY a REALLY interesting argument if its the characters like Ahiru, Rue. Fakir, Duck author ect where you add miraculous ladybug aspects to the situation but keep their characters. The clumsy Duck turning into princess tutu turning into ladybug...having a crush on the school prince who seems perfect yet is somekne she wants to understand and save. Fakir taking the role of felix, nathalie, nino thematically in some ways.....or he could be chat noir in others. Rue being kagami coded....but also potentially chat noir coded cuz destruction. Droselmiar being hawkmlth coded but also weirdly master fu coded. And that's not even actually getting into the potentially of adjusting the other characters or rolls with the animals like characters. I'm just saying fakir is a writer and on his never ended plan to turn uknowwho bsck(you know you know) why not think what they would be like in a miraculous ladybug world.

But what I'm really interesting in thinking about is our MIRACULOUS ADVENTURES OF LADYBUG AND CHAT NOIR characters in the princess tutu situation. Because thematically it's really really interesting 🤔 what with emotions, wanting to protect people. Deciding things for others. Slight love squares, build up to confessions, manipulation, how people could turn into villisns due to emotions ect ect. The want to save someone, secerts ect ect.

And thats not even bringing up how the roles characters might inhabit thematically in these hypothetical non-existent fanfictions can change ALOT depending on when you would be inspired to write them. Like allt of fanfictions in the miraculous ladybug change if they were written during season 1, 2,3,4, and even more with 5 abd 6 with how we see the characters.

I started thinking about it because Marinette SEEMS like a easy choice to take Duck/princess tutu's place at first glance right? Mari is the main character like Duck...they are both clumsy generally well meaning characters. Both have a crush on prince coded character they follow from a distance alot who is very much at the center of the plot. For marinette it's Adrien for duck its....the white haired school prince whose name escapes me at the moment. Heck his ears tend to be hidden by the fluffy hair like what happens with chat! And mari wants to confess abd get to know adrien better but feels nervious and is thwarted by the plot or herself alot...just like duck. And Marinette can turn into ladybug to save the day and deal with shards of emotions meddling with other people just like princess tutu which could parallel a bit with akumas and the butterfly.

She has a potential love rival who wears red.....which could be Kagami taking the spot as Rue who wants/wanted to be adrien's girlfriend.

And honestly after the sentibeing plot felix definitly gives off a fixation on Adrien that can seem protective but also susptious and potential toxic and secretive which definitky brings to mind Fakir who knows more than most about the plot.

And anyone who has seen droselmiars pose could see a simple case for him being hawkmoth coded at minimum. So hawkmoth could easily take that role. But technically so could puppeteer or the new butterfly holder...heck if you want to go meta Tom Astric.

But the more I thought about it, the themes and personalities aren't one to one, right? Gabriel and Nathalie want to save Emilie which could make her the prince for example and could be fighting to get her emotions back not realizing what it might do just as duck didn't realize....as Gabriel ended up makinv a sacrifice like Duck did......or they could be trying to stop it cuz it keeps her safe with them like fakir and rue advocated for a while from the bigger bad. Where they get twisted by their love like the raven/rue. Gabriel trying to fight the narrative to save Emilie in a not really healthy way does show fakir and rues desperation. Or since gabe parallel mari...he could be princess tutu/ladybug willing to push himdekf to save the person he loves even if he disappears. Or maybe Emilie AND Adruen are the prince.

But I think what has me stumped is chat noir.

Cuz arguably felix seems the most fakir coded and the irony where he js more real than other characters is interesting....but I also don't ship him and marinette abd considering duck and fakir's feelings develop in the show....I don't know...ivwould HAVE to ship it but it feels odd.

Especially when in miraculous ladybug what drives us even more than mari's crushbon adrien...it's her dynamic with chat noir.

And Chat noir is always entertaining and is important. So Fakir's dynamic with droselmire as a relative COULD point to Adrien/chat noir being a better fit for Fakir. Adrien also uses swords as a fencer. Is a protector, is a son of the bad guy/gabriel/hawkmoth and can be considered a knight at times. Not to mention chat/adrien is a important side mari has to learn more about and love in canon and probably endgame love interest...so of mari is duck/princess tutu/ladybug....and the ine she starts to fall fkr is fakir....them chat noir/Adrien being fakir woukd make sense right? I mean...it's fanfiction...I don't HAVE to role with fakir being a dick and adrien sometimes does go weird agressuve in xanon from time to time...

But adrien seems to make the most sense as the prince character sge pines fkr from afar. So I can't really picture someone else in that role as well....heck if kagami is rue it would make it work so well if adrien os the prince!

But if one chooses to follow who ends up with who in princess tutu fir which characters play who....it might be simple if one wants kagami and adrien to be endgame if adrien is the prince because the prince and rue end up together i think? But does that mean the prince should be felix since kagami and feljx are dating in canon instead? Especially considering the implication about free will about feelings in regards to kagami abd adrien the miraculous show touched on and hadn't really explored past the ham fishing made for eachother arranged marriage thing.....

Or should felix be rue since rue is about jealousy especially as the raven?

Or should chat noir/adrien be rue since as the raven rue wears black and contrasts ladybug/princess tutu.

Or woukd things be interestingvjs we use akuma identities or identity switches? Like the prince wears black at somepoint which could mean the prince could be chat noir...but he was also sort of evil at that point?

Or maybe just akuma identities...like the prince is void of emotions and has the white fluffy chat hair and suppousedly getting everything back mkght kill him or seem to maje things worse...so he could be CHAT BLANC coded....or he could also be the porcelain doll/marionette the Fandom uses...I think maybe adrien turned into that in emphereal? 🤔

Maybe adruen js both the prince while chat noir is fakir? It coukd echo the fanfics where adrien/chat noir is a villian kr nkt quite ladybugs partner yet....let's say lkke shady bug and clawnoir a bit.

Or if chat noir/adrien js fakir thematically it could be interesting because he wants to be a protector....but he doesn't realize he needs to gibd hjs own interests abd taje charge of a narrative himself where fakir has to wrote. Pen mightier than the sword so to speak ;3

SO considering in the miraculous ladybug show a repeated arc I guess is rhe fact adrien doesn't know exactly what he wants to do aside from the role as chat and everyone else controls the narrative around him....so it could ve cathartic if adrien took control like fakir had to after being encouraged by princess tutu. Thoigh the sane coukd work if the fakir standing is felix.

If felix is the prince that could actually be interesting since feljx's mom is the one who stayed connected to the Duke family as revealed in season 6.

And there are kgher roles they could fill anyways like the character with the luppetshoe giving tutu/duck hints clukd be bunnix, msster fu. Felux. Luka, nathalie ect ect ect.

Though a good chunk of this is riding still on Marinette being Ladybug/princess tutu/duck.

But considering hiw in miraculous kadybug we found out the sentibeing mystery and the implications of if your a real person, free will and choice a d how in princess tutu she had agreed to powers to help and how stories come to life abd she has a 'true form where her history may or may not be manufactured.

What happens if CHAT NOIR/ADRIEN is duck/ahiru/princess tutu?

Like....duck is a literal duck who was turned into a girl because she wanted to help the kind prince she fell for. Who agreed to powers without looking too hard at the fine print.. who has a choice of living a lie and staying a person bjt also kept in the dark about herself and the context of the situation of the story for a while. Who is steady in their feelings but akso want to help their crush whose endgame love interest tends to be stresses out trying to control things and protect loved ones.

What if chat noir/adrien is actually a cat turned into a real boy? Like how adrien is 'suppousedly' a sentibeing. A feather in a ring? After all adrien didn't listen to all the details when he agreed to be plagg's holder either. He is a positive person who's hair has a banana cow lock just like duck. Plus it would be funny since he is allergic to feathers cuz irony...duck feathers....get it. XD

And fakir could be marinette/ladybug since ding ding ding LOVE INTEREST....especially with her keeping secerts to protect adrien in canon at this point(or to protect adrien from the truth) and her stress from having yo deal with that truth about the wish and everything could parallel fakir's stress about the storybook come to life. duck and chat can be silly and help melt hearts and relax people. Mari can be stubborn like fakir...not to mention on the indhke fanfiction they show marinette as a knight. Gabriel a dragon or wizard and adrien a princess protected by said marinette knight....which overlooks how adrien ISN'T a helpless damsel bjt does point to how mari and rhe class see him. Abdvthty see mari as this knight which is what fakir sees himself as while both msri and fakir assume adrien and the prince can't decuded for their selves.

Though fakir could ALSO be felix since there isn't enough fics using how felix sees adrien as naive abd too good and stupid missing the fact adrien is smarter and not as naive and dumb as felix thinks...adrirn just actively chooses to be kind and can akso kick butt. Considering fakir and duck didn't get along for a long time and she had to sneakily find out info....that could still work for adrien and felix interactions if you want yo go more plantonic (probably....I'm assuming Though it's anime so weird tention is around in general).

The prince could be a princess in this case and be marinette/ladybug. Considering the confession of feelings plot in the show bjt also the repeated implications if princsssctitu confesses to the prince she will disappear into light and getting him all his emotions......it could have a interesting tragic layer to things considering in miraculous ladybug they keep having chat die or disappear and mari hasn't properly fallen for chat noir yet and there hasn't been a reveal even thoigh she is with adrien.....so considering the wish and the problem his family has done or even the potential of her losing memories as a guardian.....chat noir/adrien/princess tutu could save mari/ladybug and confess even if it means he dies or ceases to exist to help balance out the wish or the truth of what happened. Mari did look pretty dead eyed in the London special. And mari is actually pretty popular and talented in the class so that checks out as well. And her nickname from chat noir is princess in thr show for her mari side.

Or maybe felix is the prince as cat adrien wants to help his sort of cousin?

Or maybe the princess/prince is kagami? Since she has her own sentibeing situation going on with her own possible evil mom?

Heck if I wanted I could decide to pull a frozen where the prince is gabriel/adrien's dad or his mom where the love adrien/chat noir wants to get across is familal love where they wanted a sin at the cost to themselves and ended up in a position they couldn't enjoy it in canon. And adrien as destruction coukd be making them come to terms with things thematically? Since my theroy is adrien in canon will make a wish that fixes everything/everyone but at the cost where he never existed.

Hmmm...maybe adrien is both the prince and duck chat noir seperated? The same person? Self love is important after all.

Though the easiest idea is rue is kagami....it is interesting to think what if it's marinette/ladybug since mari is ALSO a jealous person and has a red motif....or could be chloe or even felix.

though kagami could also be fakir cuz sword.

And depending on redemption arc or no chloe could be interesting considering her spiral. And LILA technically could be used to.

And these are just ideas that use the basic roles from princess tutu. There are plenty of other roles or interesting options once I consider all the side characters from both shows. Not to mention if I would bring in more plot sskectscfrom miraculous ladybug.

Or even how it's implied in the show aspects tend to repeat itself like the pharaoh wanting to bring back his wife like gabriel wavtedcwith Emilie or if we bring in elements from the weird rich people play in miraculous or how things are a story book but not in princess tutu.

Heck there could even ve a option everything was just caused by a akuma villian andveverything reverts to the normal show in the end.

They finally tracked him down, allegedly he had been looking for him. This seems long over due but naturally it wouldn't be with out manipulative intentions. (and it once again goes nowhere... just when you thought they had turned a corner)

Asks Rin to put a tiara together, has Rin freaking out over a design, isn't till half way through the ep that she decides to give Rin any details on the actual thematics of said Wedding? Of course Rin would be stressed, how are you suppose to design something with endless possibilities, with out any finer details?

The final result but no way did that come from the bead machine she was making the bracelets with and constantly seen using... but the bigger question is, did the accessories magically match the tiara or changed to match the tiara or just details given off screen scenario?

Spot the MC's, (Precure girls are freaks of nature compared to just about everyone else in existence) or in this case a weird rabbit looking creature just ran over with our bouquet... Such an awkward sentiment considering what the audience knows... and she openly confessed that in front of him (ᵕ—ᴗ—)

This was an actual solid Rin episode that actually focused on Rin instead of her being a second Mum to Nozomi. (I'm guessing this is partly where her Otona inspiration comes from?)

Ha, Spiderman reference! However, it seems odd that Masuko has gotten so much attention overall in the show. The main cast already has five girls to deal with, eight if you include all three fairies, that's alot of screen time to be sharing out, to build them up effectively and evenly but nope, without including the villains and that's a big cast to and yet we're building up a side character to?

Slowly but surely, they are all picking up on Nozomi's bad habits but once again, Nuts has a solid point. It's one thing to give them an alternate perspective to think about but you can't force people to do anything if that's their decision, all you can do is respect it (and very little of that goes around in this series)

The scoop she's been after all series and she doesn't look until after they transform, even though she knows there were other voices there and it wasn't some sort of trick or are we pretending she didn't hear them prior?

Nozomi's need for attention creeps up again at the end of this ep (¬_¬") Pure hearted maidens feels like an incorrect way to describe these girls at times. If anything they seem the opposite, especially Urara and Nozomi can be written to be very selfish, narcistic and vain.

On another note, the intro is the same but the outro has been changed.

as for reasoning—tbh, I honestly try not to have one anymore, if that makes sense? back in the day I would have big laundry lists of every canonical reason and precedent for why I would make changes to a character, and while I still have an internal logic to it, I realized that feeling like I had to make decisions based on what I thought other people would allow/accept, instead of what I thought made the most sense for a character thematically, or what I just wanted to do. I was holding back alot, which felt unfair! At the end of the day I don’t think you should need any reason to make a character a girl, or to make them trans, or to make them queer—if it feels right to you and you’re the only person in the chain of command telling you what to do, then you should go ahead!

So me and a friend decided to play shilent hill 2 for spooky moth me the original and them the remake. at first it was alot of fun watching them playing not knowing the full story and talking about changes, our expernces and their thoughts nd theories.

but then their attetude started to change. they would get all smug over how bad the smallest things in the og were and how the remake changed everything for the better. at first I could just ignore it people do get super nitpicky when comapring remakes to og but not their spewing shit about how sh2 was never scarey befoe the remake and how much of a nostalgia blind dumbass I am and should just admit team bloopers verison is the suppior and defintie version and how they can't wait for blopper to remake the other outdated og games 🙄😒

That attitude is exactly what I feared would happen following a remake. People kept shooting down those concerns with "You'll always have the original!" when

A.) that isn't true; the game is basically abandonware at this point, which is notable considering it's the only one to receive a dedicated fan enhancement; 1, 3, and 4 are considered even less worthy of preservation, and

B.) remakes influence how people interpret the original, for better or worse. SH2 revisionism was particularly maddening even before the remake dropped because people were looking for reasons to disparage the original. Sunk cost fallacy does numbers on the psyche, I suppose.

See how often "technical limitations" is cited as a reason for why OG!James is "expressionless," even though Takayoshi Sato said that technical limitations were "not important" to the game's development. And Remake!James hardly even emotes anyway so what the fuck was all that bluster about.

Folks will seriously sit there with their thumbs up their asses and try to argue that the PS2's specs limited Team Silent somehow, as if the game's design did not literally hinge on its relationship to native hardware. As if they didn't work with the hardware to accomplish technical marvels such as this:

If you knew a single thing about how mirrors behaved in games of the era, you'd be amazed at how SH2 handles mirrors. Nobody would have blamed Team Silent for excluding one and just having the game's only mirror be the bathroom mirror, where James cannot touch it because the sink is blocking him. The fact that you can mash James right up against the mirror without clipping or suffering other typical glitches proves the standard of quality with which Team Silent made the game.

All this to say, SH2's narrative may be timeless, but the actual game cannot be extricated from the PS2; that ought to be respected instead of viewed with scorn because Old Game Bad(tm).

There's a lot that future developers could learn from studying how Team Silent worked with the hardware. And not in the "muh technical limitations" sense, but in everything, from transparency to texturework to save/load times - for a 2001 game, SH2 boasts incredibly fast ones - to structuring thematic elements around the hardware (ex. PS2 memory saves in "blocks"; James' memory is likewise "blocked," represented by the red save squares). Maybe fewer games would have such huge file sizes if they took a page from Team Silent's book and learned how to juggle art direction with memory space, for instance.

But nah, old game has bad voice acting. Into the trash it goes.

Plus, it's always funny to me whenever people call SH2's combat clunky, because emulators cannot replicate the PS2 controller's pressure sensitivity. James' swings change depending on how hard you tap the button, but apparently emulators tend to ignore that and just make every swing a heavy one. Of course you're going to think the game plays shittier than it actually does when you've never played it in its intended milieu. That's like complaining that the original DOOM has bad combat compared to DOOM 2016 because you're playing the latter on PC and the former on a TI-81 calculator. What do you expect?

People make shit up about Old Product(tm) in order to justify buying New Product(tm). Otherwise, they'd have to grapple with the fact that they sank time and money into something they could have gotten for free.

Old games are not bad games, they're just different. You need to meet them where they are. It's frankly bad-faith to expect game devs to be psychic and future-proof their games when audience taste is so fickle.

And yes, I know SH2 is not some untouchably perfect game, either, but if you met the narrative in good faith, you'd see why Team Silent made the decisions they did. They did exactly what they set out to do. They did not have to "compromise" on character expressions because they peered into their crystal ball, saw future audiences liked being able to see every pore on a character's face, slumped their shoulders and went "Nothing we can do now with our primitive technology, doods." That's fucking asinine. And running away from enemies is a feature, not a bug.

This ties into a broader point about how video games are considered expendable products to consume and discard, instead of works of art worth preserving and studying so that the medium continues to evolve.

If you're wondering why modern games are now creatively bereft, this is why.

Bloober wanted to create games the public would consider as good as SH2. But instead of improving their craft so they could actually create quality games, they leeched off of Team Silent's hard work and are now reaping the rewards.

That shit is what infuriates me most. It's not like they created an original piece worthy of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with SH2... and you know what, most people wouldn't have blamed them if their efforts fell short. SH2 achieves a degree of sophistication and sense of atmosphere that has yet to be matched, let alone surpassed.

...But they didn't even try. All these chucklefucks did was ride on Takayoshi Sato's coattails while ignoring Team Silent's input. The fact that the ruse worked is nothing short of outrageous.

I don't doubt Bloober Team worked hard (or at least the texture artist did; props to them). But everything the remake does owes its existence to the original. The original was created under conditions and a zeitgeist that can't really be replicated now.

Honestly, it feels like folks have been so starved for SH content that they latched onto the first not-terrible product to come along, despite the remake suffering from the same or even more problems than the original. Once again, I must say that even cloudy water will seem like an oasis in the desert.

Uh... Look, it's about how Zuko had changed, right? About how he's willing to sacrifice himself for others. It's absolutely necessary that the other to sacrifice for was there. I'm a zutarian who argues Zuko would have sacrificed himself for any of his friends. He probably would sacrifice himself for anyone (even if it wasn't a friend, but a palace servant or something) if Azula had pulled the stint of aiming for him and misdirected in the last second. He'd jump. Thing is: Azula wouldn't do that if a random fire sage appeared in the courtyard. Azula did it because Katara mattered, as one of his new-found friends. She's there to represent Zuko's allegiance to the Aang, she's there representing the fact that he abandoned his father to side with the Avatar. And he chose her to be there.

Katara matters and it's stupid to think she's there just as window dressing. It was about her too. It was about Zuko and Azula and about what Zuko decided he wanted for the future of the fire nation after leaving on the day of the black sun, and Katara represents that.

oo this is interesting! okay i have quite a few thoughts bear with me here.

also just for ease, i am only referring to emotion route unless i say otherwise

will they have any big plot impact? i personally believe that every character has pretty big plot impact, but i know thats not what you mean so i will give an actual answer. im not sure if they will have MORE plot relevance than other characters, especially since theyre only there in one route (although, i have seen people theorise that emotion and logic will have seperate plots completely, which is interesting). i think plot wise, there isnt alot that they CAN impact yk? midoris gone, hinakos gone, and those were the big moments. i mean, that was a huge moment in alice lives route, the hinako reveal was such a huge plot moment, and to my knowledge it wasnt as big boom powpow in rekos route as it was in alices. i think that reko'll have one of these moments (please she needs a w). we still dont know her first trial. i think we'll find out what it is in 3-2 (the same applies to gin and kai but this is about reko). and i feel like alices first trial was pretty plot relevent so the same could apply here. as for alice specifically, i have a feeling that the memories that safalin erased will come into play. yttd has established a pretty big theme of humanity/how can humans be altered or changed and alice erasing his memories of reko is a pretty huge example of this. i highly doubt that it wont be relevant. also again, hinako moment was a pretty big plot impact. im not saying that he won't have any more plot impact, but i feel like in 3-2 he won't have a single big reveal moment because, well, it's already happened.

big defining moment this is just me elaborating slightly. i think all the first trials we dont know about will be relevant, and that includes reko's. on top of that i do think that while her arc is mostly coming to a close, i think she very well could have a big personal character moment, this may be wishful thinking cuz i love her and want to see more of her but whatever. to be honest, i don't fully see HOW her first trial is going to be relevant, but there has gotta be a reason for it being hidden this whole time. alice's first trial seemed irrelevant until it wasnt so! alices big moment, as i said, has gotta be related to his memories. i refuse to believe that he just erases his memories and moves on with his life, it just seems like a copout and i trust nankidai more than that!

will they die? to be honest, i dont think so. they very well MIGHT but i dont know! i think there will be at least one route where they die, but i think itll be avoidable. again. very well may be wishful thinking. but truly i think that either of them surviving to the end, possibly even escaping, would be a huge win for their character arcs. particularly alice who has very little to get back to. for him to fight on, to move forwards, despite knowing this? i think that'd be hella cool thematically! the idea of hope, and the idea that being human is to fear death are pretty big themes for the game, so for character like alice: a prisoner, who's already lost his sister and hasn't talked to the rest of his family in years, to not give in and to escape anyways would really fit into that. he doesn't have too much to live for, but that doesn't mean he should die, yk? (also would be an interesting parallel with kanna). reko, similarly but also on the other hand, HAS people to get back to, she has her band. and her fans. shes a public figure, her kidnapping was probably a big deal, making national news headlines, so it'd be nice to see her escape, also playing into the idea of hope both for her personally, and for everyone else; everyone in the death game and, yeah, her fans. additionally, because she is famous, her escaping could be detrimental to asunaro. she could out them completely as criminals, it would be a huge fucking deal. realisitically, im not sure if thats going to happen but its a possibility!

will choice affect logic route? honestly i have NO idea. i think most realistically, no, considering alot of people play chapters seperately to each other and will be starting from 3-2 without any link to any previous saves. there wouldn't be any point in having a "who died" choice for the yabusames at the start of 3-2. hopefully speaking, maybe. i think it could be interesting seeing how it affects sara, especially because she was incredibly close to reko. reko's death in logic route would obviously hit her alot harder than alice's so it'd be interesting seeing the differences there, but very likely the choice won't matter. emotion route on the other hand, i have a feeling theres gonna be a big difference in 3-2 between alice and reko lives, not sure what it'd be but. something's gonna happen. might be first trial related who knows

I think these similarities could make them understand eachother more which would make them have a connection in some way since I do want some more emotional focus on the story in general

-I often compare him to a tiger. Visually because of his mixed colored scales and his immense physical strength but also to tie him to the Auspice Byakko. sharing a similar story of initially being complacent with being destined a life of hardship and ruin before deciding to take control of their own destiny

more recently i've also been giving him some sky/storm motifs. Started off when i've re-imagined his "hellbent" ability to be described like lightning was in his veins. But could also be seen for a metaphor of his own life too. For much of it he's been fighting against the storm to head where he's going and later just letting the storm push him where it leads him before learning to not let the storm guide him, but controlling it. Which is then does he finally get the clear blue sky of stability that he wanted for oh so long.

-There's the obvious ties to his physical strength but it's mainly about the card's themes of emotional strength and Unryu's growth to cultivate such a form of strength

Unryu, for much of his life was ruled by his fear of Garlemald. Sure on the surface he seemed openly against the empire but consider what he did when he realized he was approaching conscription age. he didn't seek out some local rebel force to join. He went to the ruby seas to buy a small ship and flee his country without telling his family a single word of it

even in ARR where he's fighting Garlean soldiers, fear is still at the root of his thoughts and it's just his training as a Marauder that taught him to drown fear out with overwhelming anger and rage which lead into it's own issues

it isn't til Stormblood where he finally decides enough with running away and living in fear, he wants to settle things how he should of done it to begin with as he sets off to free his homeland. Represented from a class change from the rage fuelled and temperamental warrior class to the focused and precise Machinist/Samurai mix he goes thru nowadays to represent his now focused resolve to protect the freedom of his homeland but any world really

Oough well, obviously concluding the conflict with the combine is important i think, it definitely wouldnt be a solid cap on it becuase a war like that definitely isnt something that could realistically be finished in teh long run, but themeatically, i think its important that humanity can overcome the present conflict, and for the time being teh combine forces on earth are defeated in a manner that allows rebuilding in the future post game,, but theres always going to be a worry that the combine could come back one day, specially given that they did in nova prospekt have a teleporter so the homeworld may have access to that minimal knowledge (though that is something thats not a pressing worry tonally)

we also need to get alyx back from gman, and i think that getting her first would be the primary concern for the first part of the game, and getting her back may go hand in hand with the borealis given its teleporting tech, and possible other uses (becuz i think that it may have hte possibility of having other uses for kleiner to be so adamant that they use it agasint the combine as a weapon, but he could be the person behind the thought of epistle3s interp of that where they fly it inot the combine home world???? not sure how much i really think that would work) but also it would be a way to get mroe support against the combine since it seems to be in gman and his employers interests to stop teh combine.

one way to gain alyx back/possibly gmans aid, would be for gordon to trade himself back again to replace alyx, which furtehrs my own person themeing with gordon where he continually in the half life games sufferes from a lack of agency on a personal level despite fighting for others and their own bid for agency from an oppressing force, particularly in hl2 where they are literally fighting again a colonial faschist occupation (in hl1 its more to save others but the theme of him putting himself at teh command of others is still present, hes constantly told what hsi goal is and he does it even when he is in danger and even his choice at teh end of hl1 is meaningless becuz hl2 still happens, there is no agency in that choice) so him choosing to further his lack of agency to save alyx from that fate,

this is not to say that alyx would be an inactive character in the sequence, its important to me that she gets to have agency of her own (limited as it is by gman for teh time being) becuz i think that alot of alyx's character in terms of how i feel she would be as a realistic reaction to teh world she grew up in, , as much as she was expanded in the eps, feels like she should be more incharge during them closer to her agency outside gordons purview doing things, so in teh episodes for example she would be changed to have her cut lines urging the player to go faster in teh citadel becuz it is collapsing whn the player is idling, and realistically she would be more of a driving force/guide to gordon in how to get to white forest since bro toehrwise is just guess,

how i would give her agency within teh bounds of gmans guidance would be for her to undermine any goals from gman that may stop gordon from acting against him, particularly if she is pitted against him, and after alyx is removed from gmans immediate influnece, i think she should have a secondary goal to retreive gordon should he trade himself for her (this places gman as a secondary antagonist) as well as her having her own way of trying ot stop the combine with teh resistance while gordon is working parallel to them. this would place hl3 as a combination between the conflicts of 1 and 2, with teh extradimensional forces being gman and his employers instead of nihilanth

speaking of gman and his employers, a fun idea that ive thought about before is taking hl3 in a more meta narractive with gman and his employers being stand ins for valve and the player/players, particularly with hlas ending, where they can intervene to change the plot but they cant just completely change everything in a retcon of whats happened, much like valve and the player base of hl wouldnt just retcon teh previous games even when teh the characters would love it becuz it wouldnt be entertaining for us and it would remove the story, (ignoring fic and otehr fan ideas of alternate universes where that doesnt happen becuz those only function when there is something canonly that we want to differ from to explore and to have a happier universe) and thsi idea could also play into my idea of gordons as teh player characters agency, where he is tied to teh player and their desciions becuz he is written as a blank for the player to impart themselves upon, which removes all of his agency in a meta sense (and in teh plot the players as well in a way) so a possible ending woul dinvolve breaking the 4th wall, but im not sure how much i would want to do that for real, its mroe of a fun thought experiement and au idea more than anything

so themeatically, i think continuing hl2s idea of humanity as a force that will continue in teh face of imposible adversity and 1s theme of succeeding in teh face of impossible adversity (becuz while the combine did show up, gorodn still won technically in achieveing the immediate goal of defeating teh direct cause of the alien invasion, nihialnth), as well as adding my own reading of the over arching theme of agency of different characters (i also have mroe thoughts on this theme for barney and other chracters minorly but they are not major players in a discussion of hl3 for me) and i definitely would prefer to avoid epistle 3s nihilistic view of hl2 where what they did didnt matter and what they want is impossible (no matter how "relistic" it would be for them to win, thats not the goal to be realistic, sometimes this themeing is baout metaphor) even though i do find it as a compelling thought expereiment as a way to explore gordons inner narrative of what hes seeing and his won experiences and perspective, and how it cant reflect to realities of teh world around him perfectly becuz of trauma and such and still plan to finish a fic i am working on that explores it in an altered state through the lense of it being a biased perspective

Some design ideas I did for potential redesigns for several central sonic characters, gonna try and remember my mindset for each one: Team Heroes -knuckles removed to allow him to form his own team -Amy is given more focus on her tarot to tie together her various abilities over the series. -Sonics design is brought back to some SA2 sensibilities but done with more recent elements like the movie shoes and chips braclet. -Tails is given back alot of his distinctiveness that’s been slowly shaved off since his modern redesign (back hair, fang, snoot, blue bands on socks and gloves. Team dark +Eggman -No omega cause he’s already perfect -Rouge given a more team dark color scheme and given a more youthful hair style and outfit that emphasises her spy thematics -For shadow I wanted to do something that looks off at first but could grow on you over time. and gave him blue to contrast sonics red and black braclet -Eggman got some movie elements as well as integrating orbot and cubot into his outfit as more of an emergency minion protocol instead of them just kinda being around New team: Team Nova -Gemerl would be part of this team, but I wouldn’t change his design much apart from adding some star tipped screws to his wrists and ankles -Cream I wanted to look more action ready, while also being childish, so I gave her a bit of a onsie pajama or overalls look and added a star for the team logo. -Blaze I tried to go a little less regal and more casual, the idea being that since she’s not a princess in sonics world she can let her hair down and be a little more free spirited New Team: Team Guardian -Final member would be shadow or tikal but I wouldn’t know which would fit better (plus I was nearing burnout on the project) -Knuckles I mixed some elements of his movie and explorer designs, re-arranged the color palette and added black to it. Also made his shoe legos something more meaningful and easier to draw they’re now tiny mayan pyramids -Silver was mostly about bringing back some of his cool Esp traits that got lost along the way, as well as giving him an otherworldly cyborg feel without looking explicitly robotic. The overall design phylosophy was trying to find designs that would look nice in the cityscapes of the sonic riders games, since that always felt like the next step in evolving the sonic brand.

So I have some reasons as to why I belive Henry should be the one possessing Glamrock Freddtlore, character and narratively wise that I feel are much more compelling than having Micheal come back like his shitty father.

So let's start lore wise shall we? In this franchise it's shiwn time and time again that once a person dies they can possess something, mainly animatronics. Now, we only see someone be able to possess mainly 1 thing at the time, with the expectation being maybe the funtimes with their weird mish mash of souls.

Okay, of the souls that burned in the fnaf 6 fire, which one was the only one still alive? Henry Emily. In fact, Henry is THE ONLY CHARACTER in the entire franchise that was not killed until that moment, charlie, the missing kids and the Arton family have all died (hell even the likes of phone guy, the two technicians and perhaps even Jeremy perished). So, if anyone were to come back possessing an animatronic, why not the one guy who never died before? Makes more sense than Michael Afton coming back again for no reason.

Next comes a character reason. Glamrock Freddy is a cheerful, friendly and caring robot who's a tad bit naive, he's also protective, akin to a paternal figure. his personality is most likely programmed in his A.I, but if he's indeed possessed than shouldn't his personality change to whoever is possessing him? We rarely see possessed robots talk in this franchise, the ones in UCN and the AR game are not actually possessed, they show the actual mascot characters personality, The exceptions being Charlie in puppet, Elizabeth in Baby and maybe Withered Chica(?). Those exemples clearly show that the soul inhabiting the robot overrides its personality for whoever is possessing it.

Now, given all of this, wouldn't it make more sense for Henry to be the one in Glamrock Freddy? Not only is he already a father, but he clearly cares for children in general, he built robots made to protect them for crying out loud. Sure, we might only see a jaded side of him in FNAF 6, but he is far older and had experienced alot in his life. ~~(Better than the 0 personality Michael shows in the games anyway)~~

Finally we arrived at the narrative and themes. I'd like to point out that if William is always associated with rabbits (for obvious reasons), Henry should be the one associated with bears! He created the Fredbear and Freddy's franchise, he is the protective father to his daughter (a papa bear if you will), and since William only wears the Springbonnie costume, then wouldn't Henry be the one wearing Fredbear? Why, thematically speaking, would Micheal, who's way more associated with foxes and clowns, be the one in Freddy? His biggest connetion with bears comes with Helpy, but Henry was the one who presumably created him! Hell, Henry created Lefty, a black bear, to get a hild on the puppet!

Not only that, but Michael's arc should be over. He trued again and again to atone for the sins of his father in order to find the forgiveness of his brother, utilizing him any more would be overusing his character. Meanwhile Henry's sole goal was to release his daughter and send William to hell, and since William is back, shouldn't Henry be the one to come back to stop him? Henry was a nonfactor during 90% of the lore so this is the perfect opportunity to use him!

I just want the Emily's to play a bigger role in the story, after Charlie be the one caring for the missing kids, maybe Henry could help Gregory. Perhaps as a way to compensate from failing to save his daughter? Wouldn't that be neat? Nah that be too thematically interesting, time to suck the Afton family dry for the next 35 games...
