i hate it here so i will go to, secret gardens in my mind. people need a key to get to. the only one is mine. i read about it in a book when i was a precocious child.

theodosia hermance was the third-born daughter of the venerable hermance family, a household regarded with polite esteem among society’s more discreet circles. born into quiet privilege, she was a girl of measured words and practiced grace, raised to be dutiful, soft-spoken, and agreeable. where her elder sisters delighted in courtly dances and the flurry of the season, theodosia preferred solitude and simplicity: the rustle of pages beneath her fingers, the gentle pull of needle and thread, the tranquility of her paints spreading colour across canvas. she loved her sisters dearly—indeed, she often remarked that she felt rather like a shadow when they were not near—and in many ways, she had been content to follow their lead, to occupy the space they left behind.

from the earliest age, theodosia was praised for her obedience. she did as she was told, even when her heart whispered dissent. it was no surprise, then, that at eight and ten she was presented to the ton as a debutante, her name inscribed among the season’s most eligible ladies. the queen herself saw fit to match her to lord george symonds, a young man of considerable repute. heir to a vast coal empire and a knight in service to the crown, lord symonds was five years her senior, respectable and even-tempered. he was, in every regard, a model husband. and so, at nine and ten, she became his wife.

their marriage was civil. kind. marked by polite conversation and quiet dinners. george respected her, never raised his voice nor sought to command her affection. in another life, that might have been enough. but to theodosia, the institution of marriage felt more like a costume—layers of silk and expectation draped over her until she scarcely recognized herself. she played the part of the wife well, as she had been taught. but in the privacy of her mind, she could not help but feel as though her life were not truly her own.

when war spread across the continent, george answered the call—as knights were bound to do. to the surprise of many, theodosia followed. armed with nothing but the knowledge gleaned from her father’s collection of medical volumes, she volunteered as a nurse. what she lacked in training, she compensated for with diligence and determination. in time, she became known among the soldiers for her calm composure and capable hands. she saved many lives. and yet, it was not the wounded men or the battlefield horrors that changed her most—it was the freedom. the strange and terrible freedom that came from being unmoored from society’s expectations.

and then, one day, she found george on the field. broken. bleeding. dying.

she knelt beside him and made her choice.

when she returned to england, a widow in black, she wore her grief well—quiet, composed, almost serene. her father, ever concerned with propriety, insisted that she remarry once her mourning had passed. and so she did. only this time, it was not to a man chosen by the queen, but to a woman of her own heart.

naida gamzatova had been her friend for many years. brilliant, steady, and fiercely loyal, naida had always known theodosia better than she knew herself. she saw through her silences, understood the weight of duty theodosia carried like a second skin. their courtship was brief, their union simple, abroad and away from wagging tongues. it was not a conventional match, but it was, for a time, a happy one. naida made her feel seen. loved. safe.

but the old restlessness crept in.

marriage, even a marriage of love, was still a kind of performance. expectations. roles. the weight of being someone’s anchor when she barely knew how to keep herself afloat. after the death of her father, naida took her to the countryside, hoping the quiet would bring her peace. instead, it left her hollow. she wandered the halls of their estate like a ghost. she looked in mirrors and did not recognize the woman who stared back.

and so she began to slip away. not all at once, but slowly. she started venturing into the city under the guise of errands. her paths led her to places no respectable lady would be found—salons veiled in smoke and secrets, parties where names were whispered or not spoken at all. there, theodosia shed her titles. she drank too much, laughed too loudly, and indulged in pleasures that would shame her family name.

she was unfaithful.

and now, the weight of it presses on her chest like iron. not just the betrayal of a wife who did nothing but love her—but the betrayal of the girl she once was, the girl who believed in doing what was right even when it hurt. she does not know what forgiveness looks like. does not know if naida will still love her, now that she has been remade in shadow.

she is no longer the dutiful daughter. no longer the quiet wife. no longer the innocent girl who thought duty alone could shape a life.

theodosia hermance is caught between the roles she played and the woman she is becoming. and whether that woman deserves love, she has yet to decide.

THEODOSIA FORTESCUE

Theodosia Fortescue was the second and last of her family, and with both children being girls, her parents were determined to find good wealthy matches for their daughters. Her older sister was married when she was fourteen years of age, and she never wanted that life. Theodosia wanted to travel, she wanted to see the world, she wanted to paint whatever she saw and just enjoy life as her own being, not as someone's wife. She was originally able to convince her parents to delay her debut into society until she was 21 while she traveled to the countryside with her sister and her husband, but when she did debut, turning men away only worked for so long until her father stepped in. She ended her first season with a proposal to the Earl of Coventry, with the condition that it was a long engagement. Now, a year later, her friend Colin Bridgerton has returned from his own travels and she is starting to consider that maybe she is able to fall in love and still fulfill her travel wishes.

Ok ok ok so hear me out! Shush! I'm not crazy! Just....just....just....stop screaming.....LISTEN!!!

So we open with a song I'll call "Hamato vs Foot" which is very "Horse and The Infant" from Epic esque. War drums. Large powerful chorus of ninjas singing about the feud and how much they hate eachother. There is a big battle happening.

"The Hamatos are ending the Foot tonight."

Then we have a break/bridge/whatever that's very "Just A Man" from Epic and "Dear Theodosia" from Hamilton (but much dramatic, less domestic) for when Hamato Yutta finds baby Saki and debates killing him, but decides to take him in instead.

This part will be done with a specific motif that I'm calling "Miwa's Melody". (That's a surprise tool to help us later!)

"This child will not die for my cause. I'll take him home. Raise him as my own. He doesn't have to know who his father really was."

Time skip!!!

I'll call this "Brothers Song". I can't find anything with the right feel, but kinda "Two Player Game" from Be More Chill, but COMPLETELY different sound. (Video games just don't fit here, despite being set in Japan in the 80's and 90's.) For some reason "Two By Two" from Sofia The First is the closest song I can find to MATCH MY VISION!!!

I'm not crazy! Shut up!

Anyways. So the "Brothers Song" would jave either two or three time skips. Depending.Either, Toddler to Tweens to Young Men, or just Tweens to Young Men.

"Brother Song" would be a song aboit Saki and Yoshi being a team and promising to be there for eachother. Very cute. Very happy. Very hopeful. Bonus points for ever "Wizard And I" from Wicked lile wordplay. IE, lines that COMPLETELY change meaning when you know the ending and are suddenly twisting knives! (Think Saki saying something like "I'd follow you to the other side of the world!" although our story isn't showing that pay off.)

We end with two grown men.

Enter Shen.

IDK if I was to give her an intro song or not, but definitely something where Saki and Yoshi are singing over eachother with COMPETING melodies. (Do you see it!? DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE VISION!?!?!?)

Yoshi gets his own love song duet with Shen. Think "I Can Hear The Bells" from Hairspray or "Elephant Love Melody" from Moulin Rouge.

Let's face it. We all know we need a "I will love you until my dying day" like line here and why!

The Saki gets hisbown duet with Shen I'm calling the "Silver Medal Song". Shen is confirming that she loves him, but that Yoshi is her first choice. No amount of convincing from Saki is going to change that. He can't win because the fact Shen choose Yoshi first will never go away. Even if they got together. It would bother him forever and he would never be happy.

"Even if you get the prize. Will if truly make you happy if your medal is still silver?"

Shen leaves stage and we are left with Saki singing a solo I'm calling "Saki's Lament". Think "Pity The Child" from Chess with a touch of "Sally's Song" from Nightmare Before Christmas. "We're never to become. For I am not the one."

Basically it's Saki airing out that he's always felt lile second place to Yoshi. He loves his brother, but he doesn't know why it feels like Yoshi is always the favorite. (We may have a few musical hints at a later song at the end of this one)

End of Act One!

We open Act Two with a fully proper song arpund the previously established "Miwa's Melody". This is more domestic. Almoat unrecognizable. Miwa is born and her parents are blissfully. Even more "Dear Theodosia" and maybe a little "Everything Changes" from Waitress. Maybe a touch of "Thank Goodness" from Wicked.

I'm not sure if we end the song on it, or if Saki waits until the dialog section, but he RUINS the mood. He's not happy.

Maybe it's a few scenes, or this one goes on for a while, but I think the "Yoshi loses his temper" scene gpes here. Maybe an angry reprise of "Brothers Song"

Our next song is when Shen rips Saki aside to rip him a new one.

The cut song "Congratulations" from Hamilton". "Nobody's Side" and "Florence Quits" from Chess. "You want to lose your only friend well keep up you're doing fine!" is SUCH the vibe for this!

Shen tears into Saki for his misbehavior and warns him that he needs to get a grip.

"You'll destroy everything you have and hurt everyone you have to love! Me your friend, Yoshi your brother, and you yourself!"

Bad Sad. Maybe throw in some motifs from "Saki's Lament" Because Shen loves and understands him, even if he's not the man she choose to have romantically.

Then, while Saki is dealing with that Yutta reveals his true heritage.

We start the next song as a reprise of "Saki's Lament" but it morphs into the big bombastic villain descent song. "Shredder's Song" Kind of "No Good Deed" from Wicked. Kind of "Hell To Your Doorstep" from Count Of Monty Cristo. Lind of "Epiphany" from Sweeney Todd.

This is the moment Saki dies from heartbreak and The Shredder is born from that grave.

Now we cut away to what I'm calling the "Cassandra Song" from Shen. She's trying to warn Yoshi that things are about to go south. Yoshi ignores her and leaves part wau through the song, and she's left lamenting that bother men she loves are stupid and probably doomed.

Part "Sally's Song" From Nightmare Before Christmas. "What will become of my dear friend? Where will his actions lead us then?" and a lot "Someone Else's Story" from Chess with a dash of "I Know Him So Well". "Although the feelings run just as deep. The promise she made has grown impossible to keep."

So now. NOW!!! NOW WE HAVE THE CLIMAX!!!

A little diddy I would called "Foot vs Hamato." which is very "Horse and The Infant" from Epic esque. War drums. Large powerful chorus of ninjas singing about the feud and how much they hate eachother. There is a big battle happening.

"The Foot are ending the Hamatos tonight."

Sound familiar? Oh yeah baby!!!! SYMMETRY!!!!!

Only instead of the break wjere Hamato Yutta sang Miwa's Melody.

The Shredders is reprising hia hit new single.

Yoshi runs in to fight him singing another reprise of "Brothers Song". Maybe in a pleading manner, maybe another angry version.

It harmonizes of course.

The chorus is still going strong with "Foot vs Hamato"

Shen adds a layer of "Cassandra Song" as she sets Miwa down to jump in.

Then everything stops when Shen gets hit.

There's a sad reprise of Yoshi and Shen's duet. You KNOW this is where the "I will love you until my dying day" line comes back!

Screams, roof caves in. Shredder finds Miwa.

Shredder sings Hamato Yutta's part from "Hamato vs Foot" as he decides to take Miwa!

"This child will not die for my cause. I'll take her home. Raise her as my own. She doesn't have to know who her father really was."

The one more time skip to see a child Karai interactingnwith Shredder who sings a reprise, not of "Miwa's Melody" again, but "Brothers Song" symbolic of the fact Karai os not only a stand in for her mother, the woman Shredder lost, but also her father, the brother he misses. Also hinting that Shredder will destroyed her and their bond the same way he destroyed Yoshi and their brotherhood.

I am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 this is literally SO COOL OMG. I've read this whole thing through a few times, listening to each of the song examples you gave, and it's just. Augh you've put it together so well?? Like I can just SEE and HEAR it and I would kill someone for it to be real omfg.

Yoshi and Saki having a competing melody song fight over Shen??? I ABSOLUTELY see the vision it's FANTASTIC god it fits so well that would be so funnnn. And I'm just obsessed with the levity, considering this is kind of a turning point in their story. Going from that, to the duets, to Saki's LAMENT. Him always feeling second to Yoshi..... oh man.

Saki coming in to ruin the mood!! Like imagining coming back from intermission, the curtains draw back and it's so light and happy and peaceful, and then Saki's very presence rips that away. \

(CONGRATULATIONS MENTION. fucking love that one, can't believe they cut it)

The idea of Shen's "Cassandra Song" is so cool omg, like. God, imagining her trying so hard to convince Yoshi of the coming storm and him brushing her off, IMMEDIATELY following Shredder's big villain song (which OH MY GOD that would be so cool I'm shaking and biting. Epiphany is one of my fav songs I can just aaaaaaasdhgsdhg imagining his whole like. Breakdown, like I feel like Epiphany is a really good example of the singer so vividly SNAPPING as the song goes on. Just, imagining Saki starting mournful, then ending the song straight up snarling the lines).

The carry through of "Brothers Song," from the bright optimistic montage in the beginning, to the angry reprise when they fight, to a desperate, begging reprise during the climax. Absolute AGONY I love that kind of thing in a musical. A good reprise is AMAZING.

I love the idea of starting with Hamato vs Foot, and Yuuta finding Saki and audibly debating what to do before deciding to take him, and then ENDING with the inverse, and Saki repeating Yuuta's line about not allowing a child to day for your cause and keeping their heritage from them??? hsdkaghksdghsldgk !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's about the PARALLELS!!!!

AND THEN ENDING. WITH BROTHERS SONG. WITH SHREDDER AND KARAI. BITING YOU BITING YOU. OH I GOT CHILLS.

I plan on posting an official intro for this guy soon enough, but this is a good trial run/first look for that!

Name: Tristan Learmont

Nickname: Had no familial nicknames. Crispin calls him "the fop" before getting to know him better (fop being an old word for a dandy). The demon sometimes calls him "puppy" in reference to his young age and, at the time, another word for a dandy/effeminate male.

Kind of being: Human. Some distant fairy ancestry (he's unaware of this).

Age: 12

Sex: Assigned male at birth. Definitely not cis. If he lived in modern times he might call himself trans or nonbinary.

Appearance: Thin and frail-looking. Very, very pale from lack of sunlight. Dark circles under his eyes from poor health and disinterest in sleeping much. Icy blue eyes. His hair is so dark brown it looks black, and is slightly wavy. The longest part of his hair brushes his shoulders. It's basically a historic shag/mullet. A rather prominent and pointy nose. A slight under-bite which is noticeable from his lower lip protruding further than his upper lip, making it look like he's pouting all the time.

Occupation: Nothing since he's a kid! I guess technically you could say he's working for the demon.

Family Members: His parents are Loftus Learmont and Cassandra Learmont (maiden name Coffin). They are landed gentry, and very wealthy. Loftus is Scottish in ancestry, but they live in England. Tristan also has 12 older siblings. From oldest to youngest, they are: Anquetil, Frederick, Julietta, Lorin, Evelina, Matilda, Florentia, Theodosia, Menander, Presley, Harcourt, and Lenore. Tristan is the only child younger than Lenore.

Pets: None. He wasn't allowed any growing up.

Best Friends: Crispin, who is also his only friend. They don't really become friends till well into the story though.

Describe his room: When he was living at home, his room was large, with high ceilings. There was a large fireplace, and a huge four poster bed with an even huger canopy. There were also tall windows with deep casements, in the fashion of the day, but these were always shut tight and often covered with heavy drapes. The room was lit primarily by oil, candles, and the fire. It was often shadowy and gloomy. But still the walls were papered beautifully, the drapery on the bed and windows was of the finest material, the bed was furnished with the finest quality linens, and the floor was covered in an expensive rug. There was a table and chair of polished wood where Tristan did his lessons, writing, and sometimes his reading. When he was little the floor was strewn with an exorbitant amount of toys, and later the floor was strewn with books, sheets of paper with writing on them, and various contraptions. Any clean-up of this by the servants was quickly undone as soon as they left the room. The walls were covered in portraits, all of them of Tristan at different ages.

Way of Speaking: He speaks softly, and his voice sounds sweet even as he's saying something awful or mean. It has a frail sound to it, as if he can't speak any louder, but this is partially an act. He can be ear-splittingly loud when he wants to be. His voice is also very nasally, which adds to its shrillness when he raises his volume. He speaks in an overly formal, literary sort of way, as he's read far more books than he's had social interaction. He has the accent of an upper-class English person of the early 1800s. This is quite different from the modern upper class English accent.

Physical Characteristics (Posture, Gestures, Attitude): Holds himself rather languidly, like he's slightly bored by everything. This is partially because of actual fatigue due to illness. Leans a lot on things and sits on things that aren't meant to be lounged on/in (windowsills, tables, the nook of a bent tree trunk). When he's arrested by passion for something he seems possessed by a manic energy and perks up significantly. He has a gliding, elegant way of movement. If not for the awkwardness of being 12 it would verge on graceful.

Items in his Back Pocket/Purse: He keeps an enchanted pocket watch given to him by the demon on his person at all times. It tells him how much time he has left to fulfill the tasks the demon gave to him. He also keeps scented water to perfume himself with, and a handkerchief to cough into. He also keeps some medicines with him, or what passed for medicines at the time (they're probably actively making him worse). He keeps these things in his pockets if he's wearing boy clothes, and carries a reticule if he's wearing girl garb.

Hobbies: Reading is a big one, and so is dabbling in the occult. He went through a long phase of trying his own scientific experiments, and even building simple machines. He adores fashion, and enjoys writing, whether that be in his diary or short stories. He also loves dancing, and singing too. Once he runs away from home, he loves exploring nature.

Favourite Sports: He wasn't allowed to engage in physical activity growing up due to his medical issues, so he's never really played any. He doesn't have a huge interest in it, though. He really would love to ride horses, and to hunt. He would love to shoot a gun.

Abilities/Talents/Powers: He's very smart for his age, and has a higher-than-average propensity for retaining information he learned from books. Has some natural knack for doing magic, and somewhat of a sixth sense (he's seen/sensed spirits his whole life). Quite talented at writing and being creative in general. Naturally good at dancing.

Relationships (How they are with other people): He was raised with a mixture of emotional neglect, isolation, and being spoiled rotten and never disciplined for bad behavior, so he's uh. A Lot. He has no idea how to be considerate and show care for another person, and he doesn't see a reason to do so either. He's annoying, invasive, rude, condescending, selfish and cruel towards others. Even if he likes someone, he still sees them as a toy or pawn to get what he wants rather than a separate person as human as he is. On a more subconscious level, he doesn't believe he's likeable anyway, so why try to be nice? The trouble is he is likeable to some: he's also cute, funny, smart and interesting, so he can charm certain kinds of people despite his best efforts. When someone likes him he's really taken off guard; it's probably the only thing that can make him quiet and awkward. He forms the first real bond of his life with Crispin, quite unconsciously and over a loooooong period of time.

Fears: Before leaving his childhood home, it was dying before he's gotten the chance to live some life in the outside world. Now it's not achieving what he wants to and needs to in the short time frame he has.

Faults: Many, lol. As I mentioned above, he's selfish and cruel, and also imperious and condescending. He thinks he's smarter than almost everyone and acts like it. He's also reckless, impatient, and quick-tempered. He lies a lot, and can be quite manipulative and pushy. Won't do anything he doesn't want to. Harbors a lot of the prejudices his class held in the time period (e.g. thinks the "lower orders" are inherently inferior etc).

Good Points: He's creative, imaginative, brave, smart, determined, passionate, and has a great capacity to care about others. His sentiment and empathy betrays itself in his rapturous response to romance and tragedy in literature.

What they want more than anything else: Freedom and life. Deep (deep deep) down he wants love.

ever wanted to listen to astrea family drama in order via music???? now you can...............................................

hello everyone. i was having too much fun making playlists so i went back to this reinhard playlist i made months ago and then added more songs + organized the whole thing in narrative order so if youre interested i highly recommend listing in song order <3

heres some notes under the cut about it.

theres a couple more instrumental only songs in this one and also yeah. yeah theres several from undertale hah in my defense their soundtracks slap really hard. but i do think they genuinely kinda fit reinhard - in general i picked at least some songs that i felt had more of like. a Specific energy to it - like smth almost dreamy or surreal? just to fit reinhards specific brand of Uncanniness. his life is bigger than him T^T that and reinhard is a Final Boss to a lot of people so having some boss fight soundtracks is kind of. fitting. maybe.

theres a few repeat songs from the emilia playlist i made - i try really hard not to have repeat songs for playlists but 1. emilia and reinhard are very similar characters with similar themes (they DO purposefully parallel a lot in canon) and 2. these songs fit reinhard anyway so. yep <3

some songs can be read as being addressed to reinhard or they can be read as just talking About reinhard rather than it being 100% from his pov the whole time

the playlist goes from pre-arc 1 all the way roughly to end of his main route arc for now (end of arc 5)

fallen down and this is a life are intros to reinhards life (this is a life is there also for. Irony.), dear theodosia marks the start of reinhards life, theodosia reprise marks louanna going into a coma, goodbye marks all the stuff happening when reinhard is five (theresia dying, wilhelm burning bridges, sword sainthood, etc).

additionally theres other "marker" songs like it took me by surprise (heinkel turning on reinhard), ASGORE (the heinkel-reinhard duel), what could have been (reinhard kills theresia in arc 5).

eight is one of the more hopeful songs on this playlist so i had to immediately follow it up with this could be a dream by aurora to crush that a tiny bit <3

Faery WIP / The Overgrowth / These Dark and Lovely Woods

After her mother’s passing, Sidra Carver has become a shell of a person, living alone in the woods away from society. That changes when Sinéad is violently stolen by her own fiancé, the mysterious Lord Thorne. Elf Marriage WIP / Nettle and Song

To strengthen the new alliance between the nations of elves and humans, the elven prince Androel and the human not-quite-princess Theodosia are reluctantly convinced to marry. But their begrudging acceptance of their circumstances is not enough to make them like each other. Trust is difficult when they both carry a secret the other cannot know: Teddy is the champion of a goddess, made to suppress her magic lest she threaten her stepfather's rule, while Roel struggles with a desperate thirst for Teddy's blood.
