This is the dumbest set of headcanons I have to offer to you all: Streaming AU! You can interpret them as human or as some sort of weird 'characters irl' au, its up to you tbh

Also I may have come up with some daft usernames to go with these headcanons...

Magnificus_45:

Generic 'name_birthyear' username, only started a channel for the sake of teaching but continued it as his audience expanded.

Provides '"advice and critic'" for art he finds online (think channels like Solar Sands/Kitchen Nightmares, that kind of style) Pretentious asshole but clearly passionate about his work. Also does art tutorials and 'paint with me' streams but his advice videos are the most popular.

Once accidently revealed a folder/wall collage full of fanart for him and will ban anyone who brings it up. Frequently cancelled, mainly for being a jerk, but always maintains an audience somehow.

TheScrybeOfBeasts:

Whimsical username with a grandiose title, would have also gone with 'name_birthyear' if it weren't for some outside intervention. Started streaming for remote DnD sessions, continued for the fun of it.

Mainly does DnD streams featuring the npcs of the forest, occasionally the others might pop on as special guests. Sometimes does audience streams too where chat votes on the character choices. Has a side channel for nature walks, survival tips and photography.

Intimidating streamer energy but he's actually a huge sweetheart especially to fans. Has a friend in the games industry who gives him first looks at new card and board games (A grand thank you to Kaycee Hobbs for providing us with early access)

GrimoireGraveyard:

Named the channel after her bookstore, afterall that is why it was created in the first place. Started making audiobook videos and book reviews on the side for business but it became a fun hobby instead.

Mainly focuses on supernatural and horror genres but will dabble outside of these themes on occasion. Reads a variety of different horror stories (creepypasta, classics, poems, etc) and reviews them. Also regularly participates in online chess tournaments.

Fans enjoy her soothing voice and relaxing vibes but also her fierce attitude when she really gets riled up. Calls her audience a variety of different pet names like 'my dears' and 'darlings'.

P03:

Username is just their name, plain and simple. They've used the same channel for years, just changed the name and privated some videos not that they're hiding anything beyond the usual 'embarrassing cringe'.

Surprisingly rarely streams so is more well known as an egotistical powermod and/or editor for the others. Wrote all the bots for everyone's chat and discords. Does speedruns and geogesser mostly, boasting about never needing to cheat because they're just that great.

Argues with people on twitter but mainly over stupid gaming opinions on alt accounts. Will ban people for even the most minor of offenses (and is then subsequently banned for being a dickhead)

They all used to mod for Magnificus but after a bunch of mistreatment and disagreements they cut ties and left. There was a drama and callout video but unfortunately it never gained any traction. Goob still mods and attempts to maintain a good relationship with Mganificus, the other two aren't surprised but still voice their concerns.

CaptainRoyal:

All the ghouls frequently end up on Grimora's as additonal voices and contributors but Royal in particular also makes regular guest appearances on Leshy's streams, mainly as one off/gag characters but that's usually enough for the fans to go wild.

G0ldenG1rl:

Uses a vtuber avatar, streams variety content but mostly focuses on editing streams. Thanks every new follower and subscriber regardless of how busy the stream is. Plays up her own innocence but will call out bullsh!t and sometimes slips up and swears. The other uberbots sometimes show up too and will try to steer stream in their own directions.

The Lucky Carder:

Mostly the same as he is in canon minus the 'whole being dead thing', doesn't just do card openings anymore though: he also does variety gaming. Got raided once by one of the others and since then exploded in popularity. P03 sometimes edits videos for him and adds its own 'witty commentary' but Luke usually doesn't take it too seriously.

And no this isn't one of those swap stories where the characters inexplicably keep their original voices (which always makes zero sense imo, they switched minds not vocal chords). Just clarifying in case the use of color-coded speech bubbles causes confusion

Donnie physically cannot wear his goggles now but made up for it by giving himself eyebrows. Mikey is on a power trip soon-to-be identity crisis. Leo is suffering as the official shortest brother, but also will definitely be trying out Mikey's mystic powers soon enough. Raph is...dealing.

Hi. So I’m not a Layton guy and all THAT familiar with the lore, but a close friend of mine is, and as far as I understand Layton has a dead girlfriend? Can I please know who Magolor’s dead girlfriend equivalent in this AU is? I’m legitimately so curious. /pos

I have been thinking A LOT about which Kirby character would fit Claire's (dead gf) role. In the end I chose Taranza bc I feel he and Claire are the most similar in character. They're both really good at what they do (Claire: brilliant scientist - Taranza: immaculate mage), quick thinkers, humble, and have a lot of love to give.

I'll explain more under the cut (along with images of Claire and younger Layton for design ref), but Taranza could've also fit in as a couple other characters bc I made Sectonia as Descole. In this essay I will-

In Kirby there's an interesting connection between Magolor and Taranza. Primarily based on that one Magolor portrait in that haunted house in Triple Deluxe (like ok huh????) and also that one Star Allies Wave 3 illustration.

With that portrait existing, to me it implies that Magolor has met Taranza and Sectonia before the events of the game somehow. This theory is further backed up with the Old Friend mask in Merry Magoland. Magolor would HAVE to have known what Joronia looked like before her transformation, and that means he would also have met Taranza too at that time. I could be completely wrong about this HAHA but those are my thoughts on that.

When Wave 3 was announced, I didn't think much on the connection of the 3 characters other than they were from the first three core games of modern Kirby. But then they posted this art piece.

It's so cute how Magolor and Taranza combined their magic to create a shield for Kirby!! Both of their respective magic circle designs are melded together perfectly. Did they practice together on their own to perform this or was that a lucky in-the-moment occurrence? Either way, they must know and understand each other's magic abilities to a decent extent. Like how both Claire and Layton understands each other's careers and goals. Layton is a professor in archeology. Claire is a scientist researching time travel and other stuffs. Those fields go hand in hand, and the two do what they can to support and improve each other's passions.

Now onto the other characters that Taranza would've fit as and reasons why I ended up putting him as Claire.

So I put Sectonia as Descole. Descole has an extremely loyal partner/butler/henchman named Raymond. Yea Taranza would easily fit as him, but a few things made me decide not to. Descole may appear cold and not show it, but even in his madness he cares for Raymond. He does order Raymond around, but he still gives Raymond freewill to do as he pleases. Sectonia is very controlling over Taranza. If Raymond were to make mistakes, I don't see Descole punishing him for them. Sectonia would. She blasted Taranza away for mistaking Dedede as the hero of the lower world. Maybe when she was Joronia she wouldn't and wasn't as controlling but....I feel we don't have the full story on their relationship. I also focused more on Sectonia's overall in-game personality. I absolutely love seeing the two spiders enjoying each other's company and having fun, but in-game we never really got what Joronia really thought of Taranza. As Sectonia, she saw him as a disposable servant. You can say her personality was corrupted by the mirror, but I personally believe the mirror actually amplified her negative feelings and views. Negative emotions are brought up a lot in Kirby lore. I personally find that more interesting than just the mirror possessing her or something. I may be very wrong on that, but those are what I thought about.

Last reason, which is uhm, Raymond saves Descole from death FGDHSJ I don't think I need to elaborate on that. It would be so neat and ironic to have Taranza as Raymond, but I also wanna keep things in line as possible with Kirby lore canon.

Yet, who could be Raymond then? Idk fgdsj that's why I struggled so much. If Claire wasn't an option, Taranza would've been Raymond.

Now the one other character Taranza could've fit as is Descole's late wife. His wife was never mentioned by name, to my memory, and didn't have a huge role in the games. There's not enough information on who she was. I wanted to give Taranza a fitting role in personality and importance.

So in the end after all that thinking, Claire it is! I also don't know who else in the Kirby cast would fit her better and be Professor Magolor's late partner. One may think Susie would fit Claire more, but I've already decided she will be Emmy. Emmy's and Susie's personalities are very similar to me. And Emmy's lore? Fits quite well with Susie's. I'll draw that at some point.

here are some miscellaneous things i noticed about EGOlution yesterday !! the song is so goodddddd (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥｀)

i think the biggest thing that stood out to me first was seeing one kei’s of kei’s line directly contrast something he sang in edN

“i’m not preparing a sad ending / i’ll show you the right world” in edN in comparison to

“i’ll see the end with my own eyes”

those two lines feel like they have very different implications.

i feel like this new one shows kei’s transition into becoming more humane and learning to be more “selfish,” in a way . 

to elaborate….

“i’m not preparing a sad ending / i’ll show you the right world” almost implies that while kei intends to do everything in his power for his goal of “reaching eden”, if you will, he doesn’t intend to be there to see it at the end with them…

so if this makes sense, he’s prepared to “sacrifice himself” to make “eden” attainable for roku and itsuki and the rest of the world again, but he doesn’t expect to make it that far alongside roku and itsuki to be able to enjoy things at the end with them. he’s doing it all for their sake and not his .

meanwhile , with the new verse . . . “i’ll see the end with my own eyes” makes it sound like he’s realizing that what he really wants is to just spend time happily with roku and itsuki , and he’s not really prepared to fully embrace the role of a christ figure and rather, he wants to remain more humane so that he can stick together alongside roku and itsuki.

this is hard to articulate , but basically….

kei still holds himself on a pedastool, almost.

let me try and explain using more religious stuff. christ was in a human body. he could spend time with his disciples and those around him, but in a sense he was isolated from them completely from the get go because of the responsibility he had on his shoulder to eventually die on the cross for humanity’s wellbeing. he never made the same connections as the people around him made with each other because those people were not as holy as him; he was on a higher plane of existence than his disciples/family, in a sense. 

and like any other christ figure, kei is the same way. he’s able to spend casual everydays with roku and itsuki, but he hasn’t been able to connect with them truly because he’s distanced himself from them because he believes that in the end, he’ll spend his life sacrificing/ slaving away himself to do whatever is necessary for the betterment of those around him. he’s dehumanizing himself. like christ, he can’t live carefreely and like those around him because he holds a higher level of understanding and becomes isolated from the rest; christ’s disciples didn’t fully understand him, and to an extend i don’t think itsuki and rokuta did. i’m pretty sure itsuki says something like he’ll follow kei to the ends of the earth, and rokuta shares the same sentiment i’m sure. they don’t follow him necessarily because they understand and agree with his ideologies, but because of who kei is as a person. they just put their faith in him.

and i feel like the change from these two verses show how in a sense, kei is learning how to become more “selfish” like i said earlier. he’s learning how to acknowledge that he’s not willing to become that christ figure completely because that means he’ll be sacrificing his humanity, and he won’t be able to enjoy his time with roku and itsuki. so i think maybe kei is starting to realize that he does not have to take on a broad battle like being set on destroying all phantom metals . 

kei’s realizing that he has to step down from the metaphysical cross he put himself on and just be happy with what he has at the moment with roku and itsuki . he’s becoming more human. 

then again , this is all speculation and i could be very very very wrong !! ( ˃ ⌑ ˂ഃ )

other notes i made while watching the mv on loop were…

why exactly did they choose a train? my first thought was “night on the galactic railroad”, which i’m not sure if anyone reading this knows… it’s a stretch but maybe there’s some correlation there, especially with the train going off the tracks…
