im just thinking what if mike schmidt is the son of the movie's equivalent of henry emily. i had this thought on the way home from the movie at like. 10 pm so at the time it was incoherrent, but im going to expand on it here.

point 1- garrett played a similar role to charlie emily, in that despite being watched over they were both killed by william afton.

p2- in the flashbacks, its very obvious that the entire family is in a place away from society. they're literally in a forest. it wouldn't make sense for william of all people to be there if he wasn't close to the family.

p3- the books and the game mirror eachother, so there is a chance that schmidt could be another fake name, one william recognized because, again, he was a family friend.

p4-what happens when your kid goes missing? idk probaly witness protection or an urge to seperate yourself from the incident, both reasons for the name change.

p5-(kinds joke reason) abby rhymes with charlie and looks similar to her (brown hair, brown eyes)

p6-i argue that abby also took on the role of the puppet/charlie at the end of the movie. she didn't necessarily give them life, not like what was done in the game, she shoeed them how they died. she reminded the children of the life they had before, and of who really took it. by doing that, in a way, she gave them that life back. she gave them their real personality back, one not influenced by william. she cut them from his influence, she gave them the gift (the picture) and it gave them life (their memories)

p7- in the movie, mike says his father 'couldnt deal with it' and left after his mother died. yk what that sounds similar to? book henry emily killing himself in despair. maybe mike's dad is alive maybe he's dead, we dont know. but it is similar enough, an act of completely removing himself from the equation.

p8-book henry has a sister named jen, yk what name that sounds like? jane. who was mike and abby's aunt, and we dont know which parent she was related to.

p9-'but wouldn't mike know about the pizzaria if william was a family friend?' honestly, probably. but theres also a high chance that he wouldnt. if the family lived in nebraska, (which im pretty sure they did) they wouldn't have a need to go to utah, not even for a friend's restaurant. sure, he might know that his dad's friend had a restaurant, but not that it had animatronics or anything. the family probaly moved to utah after garrett's disappearance and after freddy's closed down.

p10-'wouldn't mike know vanessa? theyre similar in age' if they didnt live in the same state, probaly not. william in the movie was a, suprise suprise, shitty father, even foregoing the stabbing of his kid. i doubt hed care enough to take her with him on like. a short out of state trip.

honestly, he's as affected by horror movies at the average guy

he doesn't find them as terrifying as oikawa, but he's definitely not as unaffected as iwaizumi

also he just sometimes focuses on the wall behind the tv and drowns out the voices

he just sits through them and bears them, basically

now, why? why in the world would he do this when he doesn't even enjoy it?

when you leap 30ft out of your seat into the air, he laughs at you

he'll even add onto your fear by like grazing your opposite shoulder when you aren't looking and pretending he didn't do it

like most things in life, bokuto goes between two extremes, and never crosses into the middle

he's either having super insane cut shots that go BOOM

OR he's doing awful and is in his emo mode

now, if he thinks the movie's not scary at all, he's pretty good to watch with if you're super scared

like there's a really scary scene where there's a huge jumpscare into the most climatic scene in the movie and you're burying your face into his arm but in the background you just hear:

- Megumi may seem reserved, but when it comes to movie dates, he's all in. He never enjoyed going out in public for dates anyway. He appreciates that you take the initiative to invite him over for a movie night.

- His favorite genre may not be horror, but he's willing to watch it with you because he enjoys seeing you get excited. He'll make sure to bring that worn down tortilla blanket that you got him for your first anniversary.

- Megumi isn't too touchy-feely normally, but during the movie, he'll subtly reach out to hold your hand or play with your fingers, letting you know that he's still madly in love with you. At least in his own weird way..

- After the movie, he'd immediately want to criticize the terrible CGI. Opening his mouth to talk up until he notices that there was now a heavy weight on his shoulder. That's when he looked down and noticed that you had fallen asleep on him.

- "Tch." He smirked, eyebrows furrowing, and he reached his hands over to pull you closer to him. "Goodnight goober." He placed a gentle kiss to your hair and remained there for the rest of the night with you. In each other's arms, movie credits playing, and softly mumbling into your hair.

- Toge is always up for a movie date with you. He finds it relaxing and a great way to spend quality time together.

- When you invite him over for a movie night, Toge will bring some snacks, including his signature cursed speech bubble-shaped rice crackers. He loves sharing his food with you. (I headcanon that he is...A MASTER IN THE KITCHEN)

- Horror movies may not be his first choice, but he'll watch them with you because he wants to make you happy. But also because he wanted to finally watch the Saw series. His friends have been telling him to watch that for ages now.

- He'll occasionally cover his eyes during the scary parts but will peek through his fingers to see your reactions. (He just doesn't really enjoy the gory parts.)

- Toge doesn't express his affection through real words due to obvious reasons, but he shows it through his actions because he knows you can barely understand his 'sushi talk', as you call it. So he just sticks to having a single hand on your thigh, gently squeezing it at times.

- He'll cuddle up close to you and wrap his arm around your waist when the movie ends. Softly breathing into your neck.

Yuuta Okkotsu 🗡️

- Yuuta is THRILLED whenever you invite him over for a movie date. He loves spending time with you and sees it as an opportunity to relax and unwind.

- Horror movies are right up his alley, surprisingly. And he's more than happy to indulge in them with you. He'll even bring a selection of his favorite horror films to choose from.

- During the movie, Yuuta will sit close to you and occasionally rest his head on your shoulder or lap. He finds comfort and solace in your presence.

I hope this is okay, I’m sick at the moment so it’s kinda self indulgent but I tried to personalise it a bit for you!

The night was like any other of yours and Eddie’s movie nights. Bags of candy spilled out on the floor, blankets swallowing you both up and a blunt being passed between you. Today was tiring, work couldn’t be more stressful and of course you were understaffed. Eddie came to pick you up at closing time, he already had your cup of tea in his cup-holder. It was the small things you appreciated the most from your best friend.

You had your head on his chest, because Eddie said “it will help your migraine I promise.” You wanted to believe him but the smirk on his face just showed he wanted to look after you. Eddie held his palm to your forehead, “you’re burning up a little, I’ll get you some medicine. Wait right here.” He ushers himself out from the blankets and into the kitchen. Rooting through the cupboards as you pause the movie, he reappears holding a bottle and a medicine spoon. Pouring the contents onto the spoon, “open up darling” he smirks as he feeds you.

You wince at the taste of the bitter medicine, swiftly taking a swig of your soda to wash away the taste. Wiping your mouth you whisper, “thank you d-daddy” “e-Eddie I meant Eddie!!” Your face flushes immediately, wanting the ground to swallow you up as you blurt out your sentence. Your brain was on auto pilot and Eddie and Daddy sounded far too similar for your mouth to comprehend whilst you’re suffering so bad with your migraine.

“What was that? Did you just call me daddy?” Eddie smirks, teasing you as he pulls your hands away from your blushing face.

“I- no! The words got scrambled in my head m’sorry I’m so embarrassed, I’m sorry.” You pull away from Eddie’s touch, bringing your knees to your chest and resting your head on them. Terrified that you’ve ruined your friendship, how could Eddie not see you differently after calling him that? A word so not-inherently bad but turned kinky and shameful, he could assume you’re into that. Not that it would be a bad thing to be kinky, you just weren’t.

“Hey hey hey.” Eddie pulls at your arms, “just look at me.” His voice is like velvet, so comforting but you’re shaking. Wishing you could be ignorant and never face this issue. “Come on princess, just want to see you smile.” You can almost hear the smirk in his voice.

You stick to your guns, refusing to move and face him. “You leave me no choice then, I didn’t want to do this sweetheart. But you asked for this..” Eddie coos into your ear before teasing his fingers over your neck, ghosting over your skin and down to your sides. He pokes and prods your ribs, flailing back into Eddie’s chest, trying to swat at his hands to put an end to his ticklish assault.

“Okay! Okay!” You plead, holding on to Eddie’s wrists and looking deep into his eyes. He stills his hands, holding yours and dropping them into his lap. “I didn’t mean to say it Eddie, honestly.” Your voice stuttering as you whimpered. “It’s not a big deal. Seriously, I understand. You do that a lot with words, I’ve seen it. You’re okay. It’s okay. We’re okay.” A mischievous smile spreads over his face when he sees you let go of the breath you’ve been holding for the entire moment. Sighing, you let yourself smile, feeling safe knowing that Eddie doesn’t judge you.

“There’s that smile. Gotta hear that laugh too, you know, for daddy?” He teases before jumping on top of you and tickling you again.

lets start it out with the obvious, jjk 0. this is the prequel to the actual anime and manga series (although i guess actualy isnt the correct term... you get the point) and it starts all because of yuuta and rika who were both children when they fell in love.

rika gives yuuta a ring and tells him that its a promise ring and that its a promise that they'll be together forever.

but dw, she gets turned into a curse... by yuuta, but it was on accident so... yeah fun-

then geto shows up and basically attacks the school and yuuta and rika save it using LITERALLY the power of love. then soon enough gojo ends up telling yuuta this 'love is the greatest curse of all'

yeah love is literally the main theme of that, yuuta's love is what cursed rika and caused her to become a curse but what of gojo? why is he saying 'love is the greatest curse of all'?

well soon after this he mentions his 'one and only' and its heavily implied (actually canon) that its suguru geto, YEP the mf who attacked the school. now lets take it back a few notches shall we <33

gojo and geto went to school together where they became extremely close friends (implies lovers as they do a TON of romantic stuff in japanese culture such as giving geto second button to gojo aka the one close to his heart and them riding on a bike together which is illegal in japan but its also considered romantic to break the rules with your lover so like??!?! yeah theyre gay)

geto was left to question who he was fighting for anymore and this caused him to... get a little silly and kill an entire village anyways the kfc breakup happens yada yada and remember that these two were really really REALLY close friends at least and most likely lovers (how i'll be referring to them from now on)

honestly my fav ship and why im all writing this in the first place. their love for each other was literally so great that they killed the king of curses. the whole reason that megumi locks in is because he realizes that yuuji is gonna be sad if he dies and that he doesnt want yuuji to be sad

these two care for each other so much and its basically shown at the start of the manga, how megumi sees yuuji and saves him without hesitation, he just doesnt want to see a good person die.

he then says 'what if someone you saves kills another in the future' and when yuuji asks him that megumi cant answer. and when he can yuuji literally flips back and kills himself in order to save megumi and mind you he was fearing death a few seconds ago, saying how he didnt want to die yet and how he had regretted eating that stupid finger

yet when it came to saving megumi all of the sudden that didnt matter anymore, in fact when sukuna offered to bring him back he said no because he didnt want sukuna hurting more people... speaking over that-

SHIBUYA!!! yeah sukuna takes over yuuji and kills a bunch of people- kinda ironic seeing how megumi asked yuuji 'what are you gonna do if someone you save kills those later?' even MORE ironic that before that its revealed that yuuji swallowing the finger caused a bunch of parts of sukuna to wake up and start killing people and both of them realized this and went 'imma not tell the other cause thatll make them sad'

anyways megumi gives his bf a pep talk and then BAM megkuna and yuuji goes batshit against sukuna <3

• aren has tried to convince kusuo to start doing art or writing as a way to get his feelings out (since hes so bad at communicating lmfao) but it always goes wrong.

• aren is very into scrapbooking, and scrapbooks every one of their dates. its often just a page about their time together that week, since theyre together a lot and its not always clear whats a "date" and what isnt.

• kusuo bakes for aren, but aren always insists on helping and sharing the food with him.

i was thinking recently that fanon always has lupin and lily being besties and that's a trope that's permeated a lot of good canon-based fic too and i was wondering why---the biggest reason obviously is the poa movie and that weird made up monologue david thewlis delivers about recognising harry by his eyes (which is sooo ?!?!?!) but most of the fandom knows that's a movie only thing. so then i was like alright, theyre both kind people, lily defends his "secret" to snape before she even really knows him, she likes all of james' other friends etc etc--it doesn't not make sense--

except lupin is really...oddly silent on lily in the books. not that we get sirius professing his love for her or anything but we get the letter in DH, at least. lily clearly loves him. he's in the wedding photos and lily obviously agreed to name him godfather. he reassures harry that lily loved james in ootp. the letter from lily also has her calling peter 'wormy' and being concerned about his emotional state.

nowhere in the 7 books do we actually get a hint of lily&lupin friendship. in poa, harry tells lupin he heard his dead parents when the dementors attacked and lupin simply goes 'you heard JAMES?'

which makes me think...they just weren't that close, lol. so i did some digging and it turns out jkr once implied that lupin sort of had feelings for lily, which would serve as a great hc for why he mightve been distant and generally awkward around her. because no way is he going to contest james on this particular matter---1. he LOVES james and 2. this is remus lupin we're talking about.

so the end result is...he just never got that close to her.

james would never notice this, imo. SIRIUS realising it? more likely .i feel like he would, and he'd probably be the type of guy to take the piss out of lupin for it, lmao. and maybe, like @casquecest said, it would build up the case in his mind for why lupin might be the spy later in their lives (some latent resentment towards james; this is ofc not true, lupin resents sirius xD)

Wilbur Soot: Your Loser Boyfriend Who Sleeps Everywhere

Wilbur has a tendency to not sleep at night(when he's supposed to) so instead he falls asleep everywhere else. Here's some times when he does.

His bed.

The first time he actually sleeps in bed. It's noon however and you were meant to stream half an hour ago. "Wilbur...you awake bud?" He just groans, cuddling into his pillow. "No. I'm not." You laugh and pat his head as he digs his face further into the pillow. "Not today, I just wanna nap." And how could you say no to such a thing, so you agreed to let him sleep and get up to leave, wrong move however because you're tugged back, down into his side. And you're stuck taking a nap at noon. You didn't mind though, you knew he needed it.

2. At band practice

Wilbur tried to listen to Ash while he tuned his guitar, he really did try to listen to his story he told while he did so. But he was tired, so very tired. And you sat right beside him, listening and nodding your head softly to show Ash you were listening and Wilbur wanted nothing more than to curl into your side and sleep. So he did, laying his head on your shoulder and cuddling into his coat, you had yours strewn across your lap, having only worn it due to the rain outside. You felt his glasses tilt against your shoulder and looked down curiously. Seeing Wilbur already half passed out, laying on your shoulder and cuddled into himself wasn't what you expected to see. But it was cute.

3. During a game of chess

You sat on your phone, watching Ash and Wilbur pass time by playing chess. You watched Ash make a move and Wilbur stayed in place. "Will? Buddy it's your turn." You watched him shake awake. "H-huh?" He asked groggily, turning to you. Ash laughed, "Why don't you take a nap?" Wilbur shook his head before yawning and complying. Getting up and walking over to where you sat before Mark took his seat, ushering Joe over to help him play against Ash. Wilbur plopped down next to you, cuddling into your side, laying his head on yours as his arms snaked around your waist. "Tired love?" He just nodded before nodding off again.

4. The movies

Ash treated the band to a movie since they had one more day before they went back home and no more performances. However he got the ticket time wrong and you ended up arriving an hour or so early. You got up to leave when you noticed Wilbur and Mark laying on the ground. "What are you guys doing?" You stood above Wilbur's head, looking down to look into his eyes when you realized they were closed. "Well are they ready to go?" Ash asked, "No. Wilbur fell asleep on the floor." You muttered as Joe and Mark burst out laughing. Wilbur being the rock he was however, was unfazed.

5. On Stream.

Wilbur had decided a late stream with Tommy would be good and played his music to start. After a while he began to grow tired. Responding to Tommy's loud rants with small flinches at his loud tone or a small "Mhmm". Wilbur began to fall asleep, Tommy simply not knowing continued his story as Wilbur rested his head in his hand, you were noted to the fact he fell asleep when his head hit the desk while you were in the hall. Opening the door you saw him laid out on the desk, "Will?" You asked under your breath, the only response you got was a snore. And then you stepped in to wake and move him when you saw chat "Awww he fell asleep and Y/n came in to help him!!! HOW CUTE!!! THEYRE ENDGAME!!" You laughed softly, shaking him awake by his shoulders as Tommy groaned, "That asshat fell asleep!"

6. Watching TV

You had found a nice show on Netflix you wanted to start and begged Wilbur to watch it with you. At first you both sat on the couch cuddling before Will moved to sit between your legs. "It will make it easier to stay awake." You offered to turn off the TV since he was tired but the Soot man just shook his head. So you played with his hair and he leaned back to lay his head on your lap. Moving across the room to lean against the coffee table. "Why'd you move?" You asked with a pout as he gave you a playful glare. "You are making me tired." He still fell asleep regardless of being across the room from you or not.

7. In The Kitchen Cabinet

Wilbur was messing around with Tommy in the kitchen for a vlog the kid wanted to do so you stayed out of their way and watched TV in your room. At some point you had come out to look for Wilbur, only to see Tommy leaving. "Where's Will?" You asked quietly as Tommy shrugged, giggled to himself, and left. You stared at the door in confusion before hearing small snores. You followed your ears, leading you into the kitchen. Was that your cabinet? You opened it to find Wilbur curled up into a ball. He had woken up and tiredly smiled up at you. "Wilbur, what the fuck are you doing in the cabinet?" You asked with a laugh. "Just taking a nap?" He said with a somewhat shrug as you opened the cabinet fully and helped him out. He fell on the ground on his way out.

8. Not When You Tell Him To, That's For Sure

Wilbur was tired, so he did the funniest thing he could think of and answered question polls on Instagram. You laid on the other side of the bed, watching TikToks on your phone as he did so, giggling tiredly to himself at every response he answered to their questions. You heard his giggling and then your phone buzzed, your Instagram flooded with "WilburSoot posted." You checked it to see a bunch of photos taken from different angles, making sure you weren't in them of course. You sent in your own ask, "You've been doing this for about half an hour go to bed." Wilbur chuckled as he posted "Kk❤️" as a response before posting one more picture. He held his phone up high enough to where his face was visible as he glared at you and the back of your head was visible. He captioned it, "Sorry guys, but the partypooper Y/N says I gotta go to bed." He capitalized your name and you turned around to stare at his pouty glare. "I can't believe you're making me go to bed, what am I five?" You laugh, cuddling into his side so you could both finally go to sleep.

9. On the train to Europe

Wilbur had texted you all the way to the train station before he fell to just sending you TikToks and Instagram reels he found funny, and then he stopped texting, it had only been a half hour before you got a text from Ash. "Look this loser fell asleep playing Xbox on his phone." Then another text popped up, a close-up video of Wilbur's phone to show he was listening to a downloaded audio file. You watched Ash put in an earbud and press start before stopping it quickly. "That's adorable, it's your voice." And then the video ended. You immediately knew what it was, it was a part of a "podcast" you and Wilbur did, and by that I mean he recorded one of your rants, listening and chuckling quietly. And he fell asleep on the train to your quiet rant in his earbuds. Gosh, he was cute.

Balloon and Suitcase (Suitloon) from Inanimate Insanity vs. John Doe and Arthur Lester (Jarthur) from Malevolent!

Propaganda for Suitloon:

I think of them as queerplatonic, because theyre incredibly close and are pretty much each other's support systems. Balloon is Aromantic (technically canon? one of the creators said he was so im rlly hoping it is canon) so this is NOT a romantic ship. They dont have any romantic interactions, but you can spin every scene how you want. I just think they're in a QPR and are heavily supportive and understanding to each other. (Since like. half the people in the show fucking hate Balloon, and not many people seem to like to let Suitcase speak for herself)

Propaganda for Jarthur:

The inherent intimacy of having a guy (John) inside your (Arthur) head who you don't know the history or goals of but still bond over the atrocities you go through in your shared body. And sometimes he's an arsehole but you know that he wants the best for you and it's so much more than any other relationship they could have and in the end they always have eachother and I'm jealous of a sad British man and the voice in his head. They're friends and each others world and everything and I want what they have. OH DID I MENTION THAT ARTHUR IS FUCKINF BLIND AND JOHN IS HIS ONLY ACCESS TO SIGHT? IT'S BEAUTIFUL. Like John always takes such care to describe their surroundings (no seriously he starts waxing poetic). I mean yh he withholds it sometimes but every door has its issues. Anyways yh I love them and they deserve the world.

They are extremely close, both literally and figuratively. John is inside of Arthur's head, and they often fight in ways that have been referred to by the fans as 'divorce moments' but they still very clearly care about and love each other, in a way that is explicitely non-romantic. Their love is desperate and aching and they're not just friends, but they are definitely not dating, and a LOT of the fandom interprets them as queerplatonic.

Oh, the special kind of affection and friendship that can only bloom between a 1930s private detective and the eldritch entity that ends up possessing his eyes and left arm. 95% of this show is Arthur (the detective) bickering with John (the eldritch entity) like an old married couple, and falling in and out of trust with each other. Despite that they are both fiercely loyal to the other and by the point the podcast is at now they seem to trust each other implicitly - Arthur has to rely on John to guide him since John can see out of the eyes of their body and Arthur can't, but when they fall into an abandoned mine and are reunited (long story) they immediately fall back into that old, trusting rhythm. They share a body and their initial goal in the podcast is to be separated, but by the point we're at now they're not too fussed about it. They're making plans to go out to dinner and the movies. Also, Arthur is aro-coded - there's a big emotional arc that involves him accepting the fact that he never had romantic feelings for his wife, even during the birth of their child or her death, and how that doesn't make him a bad person or diminish the love he felt for that child.

They have fought gods together. Also they're positive plural representation. What is there not to love????

Here's my pitch for a Minecraft movie:

It's stop motion and pretty stylised as a result, not purely Minecraft blocky but pretty square.

MC wakes up in the woods, no memory, no idea where they are or what's going on. No it's not fucking Steve omg... There's a narrator, a kindly older person voice. Maybe with a bit of an accent. Idk, nice sounding. They explain this person woke up and is mad fucking confused. Cue person wandering around. They pick up some sticks, some flowers, they pet some cute sheep and just generally wander around. The narrator tells us this person is having fun, the narrator laughs when they jump in a river and see fish swimming. It's so cute! It's so happy!

"oh dear," says the narrator, as the MC notices the sun starting to set, "that's no good." our character realises there's monsters out and sets off running, panting crying through woods and fields until they see, on a hill, a house with light shinning out the windows. "No time to think," the narrator urges, "go! Hurry! Now!!" our character blunders up the hill, spiders on their hells, and bursts into the house slamming the door behind them.

They're scratched up, still crying and very scared but alive, thank goodness. Theyre also not alone in here. There's a man sitting at a crafting table, slowly whittling a wooden axe. IT'S STEVVEEEE!!!! Our hero tries to strike up a conversation with Steve, apologising for bursting in, asking what was chasing them, where Steve is from, what does he know about this world. But Steve is mute. He offers them some basic food and a bed to sleep in and, reluctantly, our hero takes both. They wake up bright and early the next day, monsters gone and sun shinning down. Steve leads them out the house and teaches them to live in this world. They chop trees, plant crops, lure animals into pens go mining etc etc. Our hero even builds their own house, fancier than Steve's, and they share a meal together watching the setting sun. Time passes and our hero meets a new comer to the world, lost and confused wandering the plains. They take them in, teach them to survive, help them build a house and the three eat meals together.

More people arrive, some are talented farmers, some engineer automatic farms, some build massive buildings, some go mining far deeper than they should and return beat up, but alive and laden with treasure. Our narrator follows this growing civilisation, clearly bursting with pride and cheering it's members on. They love these people, and while they won't meddle in their lives theyre certainly hoping for their success. All the while Steve labours on, silent but loved by this growing community.

One day our hero comes to visit him, but his house is empty. There's a not he left them, he's off to finish the final quest, and he wishes them all well. Not on our hero's watch!! Our hero and their closest companions root around Steve's house. He has maps, high level gear, and when questioning the other towns folk they find he's been stocking up on arrows and eye of enders - a useless item in most the towns folks eyes. Our hero holds a town meeting. Steve's left, to do something dangerous no less, and we can't just let him go alone. Steve was there for all of us, now we need to be there for him! Our hero and their closest companions set off for the end portal.

When they reach then end the find the dragon, strong and furious prowling a deserted end city. Steve is injured, badly, but alive, blessedly. They set up a small camp and care for him, they try to question him, what is this place? How did he know about it? What is he doing here. Steve doesn't answer their questions, he never does, but he gestures to his bow, then to the dragon, and the crew understand. Steve wants to, NEEDS to kill the dragon. They have to help him. It's hard, and scary, but as a team they make it work, baiting and running and hitting when the beats least expects. There's a few near misses, too close for comfort, but they win. The dragon is slain. In it's nest they recover a singular egg which they hand to Steve, his eyes wide and watering. His life's goal, completed. They head to the end portal together, none are sure what to expect when they jump through.

Cue end poem

They wake up in the forest, in that same place they woke up the first time. The sun shines through the trees, birds sing, it's beautiful. It's their beautiful world. They trek back to town silently, and are welcomed with cheers and hugs. Steve places the egg over his fireplace. His quest is completed, the narrator tells us, but his friends quests are far from over, and Steve will help them every step of the way. The town holds a feast in the square under the setting sun, there's dancing and music and fun for all. Fade to black.

i'm just gonna thoughtsdump about this it might not be coherent?but here we go

a lot of my keating thoughts are kind of depressing uh

i think the really tragic thing about this movie (or one of them i guess) is that in the end basically everything that happened likely didn't matter enough in the long term. and one of the biggest losses is that i kind of do think that after keating left, almost none of the students would continue to apply what he taught them. the biggest exceptions to this would be todd and sort of half charlie, i do pretty much agree with the post canon idea that it's likely that todd would end up an english teacher. and i think that he's probably the only person who would genuinely continue to actually apply what keating taught him. charlie i think would continue to be rebellious for a bit longer and then eventually sort of fall in line with what his parents wanted from him in the end, the best outcome is probably that he'd go on to be some sort of artist but i don't think it's super likely that that's what he'd do long term/all the time if that makes sense. for the rest of the poets, i think they'd all go back to how they were before pre-keating. i think you mentioned that neil was really the person who understood keatings lessons the best, which i agree with, and him dying likely prevented the rest of the poets from really getting it before keating left. basically my thought about this is that at the end of the movie, todd and keating are both fundamentally changed, but the rest of the poets aren't, and how much they were able to change is not enough to create a lasting impact.

on a lighter note someone said that possibly the most impressive mark of what keating did was that hopkins stood up on the desk at the end. and while i think that the combination of todd being able to stand up on his desk first, and how keating and neil made it possible to do so is more impressive, i think it maybe comes in in close second for me (i know i just went on a tangent about this not mattering that much but it did matter a little bit and this is still very impressive. like the guy shown to be the Most skeptical stood on the desk that's a lot)

i've seen a theory floating around every once in a while that keating's experience with the first dead poets society might have been similar to what happened with neil, like he had a friend in the society who also committed suicide, and i kind of don't like that theory very much? i guess there are a few elements to it, the biggest being that if someone died the first time, i don't think that keating would even entertain the thought of restarting it. and the second is that i honestly think we could come up with something a lot more interesting.

keating went to welton during ww2, (there's a small possible plothole/timeline issue which is that nolan tells keating he taught english "way before you're time," per the annual, keating begun attending welton in 1941, when nolan was probably about 40 and i suspect not principal since there isn't really any familiarity between the two. my personal theory which i actually really like now that i'm thinking about it is that nolan wasn't at welton from 1941-1944 for some reason, probably ww2 related. not sure Exactly how, nolan's old enough that it's unlikely he would've actually fought unless he had been in the military before, but that could also be interesting, idk there's a lot of possibilities) the us joined ww2 at the end of 1941 so for almost the entire time keating was in school, that would have been going on. and i think that would have put a very unique type of stress on the school and i think it would be really interesting to think about the poet's experience during that time. what i do think happened in lieu of someone dying is probably that they got in some significant amount of trouble at some point, or possibly that they didn't exactly get in trouble but that there was some other issue related to the administration.

other interesting details from the annual: keating was varsity soccer captain and editor of the school annual, likely how he got dps under his name. also btw keating was the soccer coach during the movie if that wasn't clear since the soccer team is. just keatings class minus cameron whose doing fencing. and i only realized this after reading the book (which i do not reccomend if you want to read the book just read the old script it's got all the same stuff and i honestly think the writings better in the script)

anyways i think we should come up with more theories about the original dead poets. bc i think that could be interesting.

i think we were kind of talking about the keating/neil parallels a bit and i'm just gonna talk more about that as well bc i'm a bit insane about it. so like as previously mentioned!!! neil is the one who fundamentally understood keating the most probably (todd and charlie also understood keating but in different ways kind of??? and i think you've spoken about this before too) and there's a lot of like; keating likely starting the original dps/neil starting dps 2.0, both being editors of the school annual (sort of), both encouraging people (todd) to express themselves in ways they might not have thought possible

the way keating and neil's storylines end are also similar. they both set out with a specific goal and while they are successful at first, they are both stopped in ways that are ultimately kind of catastrophic. not fully coherent about this yet but. wanted to add it.

also just wanted to briefly mention keating and mcallister bc i really liked their relationship, all of m thoughts have already been said but i just wanted to add that

keating is in a position where he understands what his students are going through in a way that none of the other teachers do and throughout the movie i honestly think his goal was at least partially just to make their lives just a little bit better. like some of his students would get it and some wouldn't, but for all of them they have one class where the teacher is nice and not as strict or exhausting or gives them ridiculous amounts of homework. and even if keating is just. the one class that's a little bit easier. that still probably helps so much with how the environment at welton was. obviously keatings ultimate goal was probably to teach his students to think for themselves and about what they specifically want but i think the smaller impacts of like. ok here's one class where the teacher isn't a hardass is meaningful too.

ok okokk i may be pushing it but i just cant stop picturing barry circa 2012 with leaving!bucky. i just feel like theyd have the cutest dynamic ever. he gives art student vibes like maybe hes studying film or literature. theyre childhood bestfriends and maybe they were eachother's homoerotic-codependent-friendship canon event. UGHH theyd be so cute stfuu. and maybe bucky and gale are already established and curt is just yearning for a whileee like over a year of slow burn until the three of them are a throuple... idk i just miss curtbuckbucky. you dont have to change your canon for the long fic i just needed to share this idea lmfao

ok so this is so funny because i've actually been thinking ab how sweet those two would be together, cute little nerdy besties, and how they'd meet because of course curt has to be in this fic!!

and the first thing my mind went to was the cliche homoerotic codependent friendship trope too LMAO. i'm feeling like maybe they meet on the first day of highschool; neither of them share their english class with any friends, and they end up sat next to each other, and john keeps side–eyeing him because curt looks... interesting. (ie: deep into his emo phase. the fringe. the smudged eyeshadow. chipped black nail polish, band shirts– all things john does not let him live down as they grow up.)

but his eyes settle on some pin on curt's jacket that has some character from his favourite movie or something, and the yap jumps out, john can't control it. blurts out a "you like ___ too?!" and curt's head snaps over and he nods nervously and john takes one look at those big sad charcoal–ringed blue puppy eyes and is like yup. this is the one. will protect with my life.

(tiny headcanon that rly won't have a big effect on plot or anything, but i feel like it just fits very well with john/his character in leaving– dude's got madddd undiagnosed adhd. he's written off as a loud mouth/troublemaker in his childhood, but he wants to be a good kid, his mind is just always going too fast and sitting still is torture and his parents get frustrated and don't look into the root of the problem, trying to discipline it out of him instead. i will heal my inner child by healing him alright)

they're attached at the hip from that moment on and it makes sense to no one because they seem like complete opposites, curt more inclined towards the arts and bookish things and his friends are all the same, whereas john is more inclined towards athletics and science and hangs around that type of crowd as well. but they both love video games and movies and music and they bond over never really feeling like they fit in anywhere particular and both groups of friends get along just fine when they all get together. <3

but yk time goes on, they learn things about themselves as they grow up, and curt and john are so close and spend so much time together that they're already a lot closer than regular friends– they just don't realize it. they think nothing of cuddling up on the couch watching movies together, or sharing a bed when john stays over at curt's place after he gets into a fight with his parents, or being much more interested in spending time together than pursuing girls.

and curt's pretty– john nearly mistakes him for a girl that first day they meet. the summer before their senior year, john practically spends the whole summer at curt's house, and curt's mom doesn't mind; she works long hours and is glad her son isn't spending the summer moping around indoors alone, and she loves john and gets the feeling that her home is a sanctuary for him. one day they're in the backyard lazing around, and they get onto the topic of first kisses, and neither of them have had a proper relationship outside of those classic week–long middleschool flings that don't actually mean anything, so there's not much to talk about.

but being dumb teenage boys, they start worrying about "what if we're really bad at kissing and no girls wanna go with us to senior prom this year" etc. and one of them pops the suggestion of practicing together, and thus begins a summer of sweet stolen kisses and hand holding and experimenting and dancing around calling it something. it ends when the summer does because they realize that they both work better as friends, but they're as close as ever and both definitely learn they aren't straight (and they probably make a cute pact– "if we aren't in love by the time we're thirty, we'll just marry each other.")

i don't see them really doing much together because they're young and shy and inexperienced, but it's enough for john to decide that yeah, he definitely likes guys too, but that's all that really amounts to (until he meets gale) because he's growing up in a small town in wisconsin and it's not the easiest/most accepting place to find other queers. john probably ends up dating a real sweet girl during his last year of highschool, but she's going away for college and john's going to a local one so it ends amicably at the end of summer, both of them staying close friends. (if we wanna get sickeningly wholesome, maybe she ends up pining for a girl while john's pining for gale and they share their little stories and give each other advice and facetime every week to catch up <3)

(++ curt ends up falling head over heels for ken, who he meets through john when curt and john's friend groups get together for movie nights or summer parties. john pretends to be annoyed at how lovesick they are when they first start crushing, but he ends up matchmaking and being the one to push them to confess their feelings after graduation because he loves his friends.)

BUT THEN, leaving this fic's 'canon' to elaborate on the throuple stuff you said! i miss curtbuckbucky too </3

in a separate universe, curt doesn't end up with ken, and as much as he loves his friendship with john and agrees that a relationship wouldn't have worked at that time in their lives, he spends that first year of college pining. when john starts talking about some guy named gale during their second year, he's a little sad, but mostly protective, because "what do you MEAN he's in his 30s??" and "he's a BIKER?"

but john eventually introduces him to gale after a few months of telling curt about him, probably once he and gale actually start seeing each other, and curt immediately gets it. and then he's in double–hell because not only is he a bit (a lot) in love with his best friend, but he's blushing every time said best friend's new bf talks to him, and they're gonna notice eventually if they haven't already and he feels so guilty.

more yearning ensues and john is dense and doesn't realize but gale picks up on it, maybe even notices john doing a bit of pining of his own that john's not fully aware of. and his heart twists because his mind goes to his own insecurities about how john should be seeing someone his own age, so he sits john down and opens up a conversation about it. john is adamant that he's very, very happy with gale, but he tells gale about his and curt's past and admits that he has always still had feelings for him, but insists that it's not something he'd ever pursue, that he values curt's friendship more.

gale throws him off by saying he wouldn't mind if john wanted to explore those feelings, and at first john gets anxious gale is calling things off with the two of them and this is his way of softening the blow, but gale reassures him that's not the case, that he's very happy with their relationship. he just encourages that if he wants to talk to curt and feel things out, he wouldn't be opposed to john and curt seeing each other as well– gale's often busy, after all, so it would be nice for john to have someone else, as long as curt's comfortable with that kind of arrangement and as long as john keeps gale in the loop.

they decide to kinda just feel it out as they go, but soon enough gale starts coming home from work every so often to find the two of them curled up on his couch together, sweet and innocent. curt's wary at first, always slightly detaching himself from john when gale's around, but gale is always friendly and doesn't change up his routine, settling on the couch at john's other side like it's not a big deal at all, wanting to show curt he's welcome there, not wanting john to feel guilty.

it's another scenario where lines just sorta start to blur over time, curt spending a lot of time over at gale's house, and gale sees the way curt looks at him, probably noticed it from the first time they met but chalked it up to nerves at the time. curt's an angel and he's grown quite fond of him, but he doesn't want to overstep, so he leaves it up to curt, thinking maybe the boy will mention it to john one day and john will in turn come to gale to talk about it.

and eventually that happens, just like gale thought it might. curt's just gone home and john's head is in his lap on the couch while they watch tv, and john asks "what do you think about curt?" and gale tells him that he's sweet and he loves how much john smiles when he's around him, the usual. "so you like him?" john pushes, and gale immediately has a feeling where this conversation is going, drags his eyes away from the tv to look down at john.

says "of course" easily, and lets john take his time forming his thoughts. john ends up telling him that he and curt were fooling around earlier while gale was at work (and god help gale for the images that puts in his head) and that he'd made some offhand comment about how curt better hurry up if he doesn't want gale to come home and catch him half naked on their couch. and john's all shy when he says "and curt, uh. y'know. that... did it for him" with a vague gesture LOL. gale never fails to find it amusing how certain things can fluster john to talk about after all they've done together.

"so, anyway. i asked him about it after, if it was a coincidence, and he was real shy about it, but he did admit after a whole lot of apologizing that he likes you." gale listens to him nervously get his words out, petting his hair encouragingly, waits for him to be done before he asks "how do you feel about that?" only to watch the flush return when john mumbles "it's hot."

this is getting sooo long i need to take away my own typing privileges, but basically that's how things would start between the three of them– john and gale agree that gale will let himself be a bit flirty with curt and see how curt takes it. obviously this goes a little too well when curt gets hot and bothered sat between john and gale during a movie night with john's hand on his knee and gale's arm resting on the couch behind him while he plays with curt's hair.

the movie is forgotten when gale's finger catches on a tangled curl and curt doesn't bite back the little whine that slips out in time and john's head snaps over and he mumbles a "fuck" when he realizes what's happened, and his lack of filter comes out to play when he turns to curt and asks "curt, can gale kiss you?" and curt turns to gale with big doll eyes and nods.

john ends up palming himself over his shorts as he watches gale coax curt into his lap, face hot and pupils blown as he gets to see both his guys make out in front of him, almost dizzy seeing curt get so shy and needy and pliant because when it's just the two of them, he and curt are both very balanced in their dynamic. they've been such close friends for so long that not much gets the other truly shy like that, and they're always quick to voice their wants and crack jokes while fooling around and all. so to see curt get so flustered in that way with gale has him lightheaded, and by the time they all collapse into gale's bed at the end of the night, john's convinced this is the best decision he's ever made.

there's a lot of pining on curt's end because for a while it's kinda just sex when it's the three of them, and he loves it but he also finds himself wanting more but feeling too scared to voice it because he feels like he's intruding. but eventually they all get their shit sorted out; curt fits into their relationship just right in a way gale and john never intended or expected, and gale falls for curt just as much as john has and curt does the same with gale.

gale's got two sweet things glued to his side now and man, do they ever give him a run for his money, and if he'd thought john had too much energy (and stamina) it's nothing compared to keeping up with both of them, but he wouldn't have it any other way. <3

throuple things won't be happening in the actual fic, but i do love the idea of exploring the dynamic the three of them might have in a spin–off of that au so this was rly fun thx :-) maybe i'll write a pwp oneshot set in that universe as an excuse to write more curtbuckbucky once the fic is done LOL we'll see!
