uh... lots? i think i've written in upwards of 70 fandoms. mostly currently Harry Potter and Star Trek (Voyager & Lower Decks). Occasionally I'll toss in a Miraculous fic. I think maybe either: (for you) i would ruin myself (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling) or: Death Date (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling)  OR: like my parents never did (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling)  but like i write a LOT of angst lol

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I've written so much fluff so I'm just going to plug relationship advice (Miraculous Ladybug) (written for @nemaliwrites actually haha) because I think it has enough stakes for the ending to count as truly happy instead of just. fluff all the way through. (though it is pretty fluffy)

8. Do you get hate on fics?

yeah. i wrote aged up characters once and got called disgusting like ok thanks you're the one who took the time to click on it and leave a comment. but ok. i also was told very rudely that sirius was ooc in a fic for not being fanon sirius. again: ok. read the books.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do, pretty often, actually. I've written F/M, F/F, M/M, F/M/M. I'll be posting some F/F/M soonish too.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

Not often? I think the craziest one I've written was Star Wars PT / Buffy the Vampire Slayer: friends in highly low places

Not just that, but I had a fic ripped off for a professionally published novel. not that i'm still bitter, or anything.

don't do this to me. I genuinely don't know. all-time?? Jill/Eustace and Polly/Digory have stood the test of time better than anything for any of my other fandoms tbh. But like favorite???? I can't pick. Some evergreen ships: Katniss/Peeta (THG), Remus/Lily (HP), Drarry (HP), Hyacinth/Gareth (Bridgerton).

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

i mean the entirety of the cat café universe is probably not being touched again. uh. beyond that? not one for being let down (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling) - I should probably just put an epilogue on it and call it done a matter of diplomacy (Chronicles of Narnia - C. S. Lewis) - I really do like this one, but my brain is just not giving me many more ideas for it.

I did it before bc I was a pretentious ass and continue it in Ravenclaw AU for consistency's sake, but I probably wouldn't do it again, unless it was a language I spoke fluently (so French or German) and didn't want my POV character to understand, and even then... eh.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter, officially, but I wrote out some Halloweentown fanfiction in 3rd grade and submitted it for an assignment, so does that count?

making me choose a favorite child. jk it's probably Lost Causes (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling) or, in a completely different vein, the proof is in the pudding (literally. no one tested the pudding.) (Succession (TV 2018))

Some Everlark writers I love are atetheredmind, HGRomance, and misshoneywell. Some favs from theirs include The Act, Electra, No Unicorns, Legend, etc. Their work was really formative for me growing up reading fics and expanded what I thought fic could even be. I think they're to credit with my love of an AU.

monroeslittle has incredible Everlark and Jily epics! Anytime I write a long af oneshot, I think of her.

sideraclara has a next-gen HP fic series called The Fred Weasley Memorial Scholarship that I love a lot. Not Jily but good if you like next gen HP fic with nerdy gays :)

cgner has many Jily fics I love, notably a Gilmore Girls-inspired oneshot that's lovely. GhostofBambi is also incredible!

These are all the ones I can think of off the top of my head/are on AO3 that I know of. Many of my fav Everlark/THG and Jily/HP fic that I read was on ffn.net and I didn't move to ao3 until recently! But if I think/find some, I'll come back to this post.

Welcome, Welcome to Hayffieween! Because yes this year I decided to have a Halloween week with me, myself and I haha. So here is how it will work: I will publish a one shot a day (except Sundays and on Friday since it’s regular chaptered stories update although may I interest you in a side of a Buffy the Vampire au on Sundays if you haven’t tried that already?). Some of the one shots are prompts inspired, some of them are straight out of my tiny little head (and it shows, sorry about that). Most of them are ridiculous and cracky but heeeeeeeey the muse wants what she wants.

In short: Happy Halloween!

We start soft with a one shot that fits in my Hogwarts au but you don’t need to have read any of those to follow this one, all you need to know is they’re teenagers. You will notice Halloween is a vague theme in the background. We should establish right away that Hayffie wanted what they wanted this week and little of that had to do with Halloween. Hi! I saw that your requests were still open, and I couldn't helping pitching this because I just love how you write Peeta! I mean you write everyone brilliantly, but I just love Peeta haha. Anyways, since they don't really care about the people in the world of Hunger Games, so they wouldn't know about a bunch of witches and wizards in hiding, right? Yep, I'm thinking of a crossover with HP for a Peeta x reader lol. So, witches and wizards aren't doing anything against the Capitol because most had been wiped out in that particular area, and they haven't got a way to contact other Magical Communities, so they just stay quiet. What if, instead of Katniss, a witch gets reaped alongside Peeta? She tries to hide her magic to the best of her ability, and only uses it sparingly when no one would notice - but when Peeta's life is in danger, she decides to actually use her magic out in the open? Yes, a very, very long and specific pitch. Sorry lol.

7. do you write crossovers? if so what is the craziest one you’ve written? i don't really anymore but oh boy. the craziest one i've ever written? one of my friends and i started writing a fic back when we were like ten and we literally called it The Megacrossover (the mega for short) bc we just. shoved as many fandoms as we could in that thing. it started out just being a pjo / hp / thg crossover where the characters got reaped for a hunger games based on their cabin at camp half-blood but then we ended up including doctor who and 0uat in the plot to get everyone out of the arena, and then we brought in olaf for some reason (?) and we also had plans to bring in characters from divergent and the maze runner but unfortunately we never finished. anyway. long live the mega. it's still in a binder on my bedroom floor at home

8. have you ever received hate on a fic? yeah but not recently. my favorite was someone hate commenting on chapter eleven of a doctor who fic i posted on ff.net that i wrote when i was like 13-14. and when i called them out in the author's note of the next chapter, saying "if you don't like you don't have to read" they commented again and said something like "well obviously you don't know if you don't like it until you start reading, stupid" like yeah bro but. eleven chapters? if it took you that long to realize you didn't like it, that's sounds like a you problem

16. what are your writing weaknesses? action scenes. describing the physical details of the setting. sometimes (see: a lot of times) i write sentences so long and convoluted that they make sense to no one other than me.

17. what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? gonna be honest i really haven't seen that much of this? like i think it's cool when it comes up bc i love other languages! but i also always worry i'm going to be mistranslating something whenever i do it skdhjgfd also if you're going to be doing a lot of it, i feel like you should probably include a translation somewhere so people know what's going on without having to like. switch back and forth between the fic and google translate or smth

Hi Colubrina, huge fan of your work! The Die remains one of my fave dramione fics of all time. I saw you answer an ask about getting exhausted with dramione in HP canon settings and I'm totally with you on that. If you're ever in the market for an AU dramione story and like The Hunger Games trilogy, I'm currently writing a WIP with that cross-over concept. It's called The Men Among Monsters and I think you might like it as it's post-apocalyptic, set in the THG universe, but with HP characters.

1, 4, 10 fanfiction questions.

1. What was the first fandom you got involved in?

Les Misérables. I thought it was THG actually, way back, but then I had a recovered memory of it being Les Mis that actually introduced me to fanfiction and made me decide to get on tumblr, back in 2013. I think it was because I had already gotten my sister hooked on THG, so we were sort of our own little fandom at home lol but she was a little young to enjoy Les Mis, and I NEEDED to talk about it. I pretty much exclusively lurked and sent questions anonymously because I had no idea what I was doing (I still don’t lol) and then discovered fanfiction, and then from there the slide into THG fandom was pretty steep.

4. Do you regret getting involved in any fandoms? 

NO! I mean I really am only involved in THG, and I guess I’m moderately involved in Red Rising (side note: I would categorically recommend the first trilogy in this series to LITERALLY anyone above the age of fourteen who likes THG books. It’s less YA but I think thematically very similar, and I know so many of us in THG wish the secondary characters were a bit more fleshed-out, which is something this series does extremely well. The world building is nutso). 

But yeah back to the question: no. Every fandom I’ve gotten into, even briefly, has filled a need at that time in my life, a need that is usually “fix canon” or “MORE!” and I have no negative experiences with people in them, so it’s all just been a joy :) THG fandom especially; at a time when I’ve been losing my fucking mind in lockdown I’m very appreciative of the lovely, talented people I’ve met who just share so selflessly with the world their writing, headcanons, art, edits, and more. You guys are heroes, you’re the reason I haven’t like shaved my head or something since this all got started, and I am lucky to be counted among you <3 

10.  Is there a fandom you read fic from but don’t write in?

Totally. Whenever I finish a book/movie/show that I’ve especially loved I usually tear through Ao3 like a woman possessed, but I don’t always stick around to participate in the fandom in any meaningful way. And then you know sometimes a HP fic will cross my dash and people will be raving about it in the tags and I’ll give it a look, which is true generally of fics which catch my attention. I love an interesting premise, so it doesn’t matter often if I haven’t thought of the source material in years, if I see a fic that looks interesting I’ll give it a look. 

Then of course I’m always a slut for a good Braime fic. Especially after GoT fucked up SO BADLY with these two (who are likely in my top 3 ships of all time) I just live for fics that do them right. And their relationship dynamic is so interesting and complicated that every AU is like looking at them from a different angle, which I live for. 10/10 would recommend.

2. Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?

Hmmm. I’ve definitely written more of Finn/Poe as BroTP than OTP, but I do think that they should have been canon (if Finn/Rey couldn’t be, then Finn/Poe or IDEAL WORLD: Finn/Poe/Rey should have been). I never understood shipping Gale/Johanna in THG, but I also don’t even think that they’d’ve been bros, they would have just bitten each other with malice aforethought I think. Harry/Hermione will NEVER make sense as an OTP to me, ever, but HP is #cancelled so that doesn’t matter anymore anyway.

3. Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?

Yes. Curate your own experience online, people!

6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?

Not really? I tend to be very gut-driven for ships and I also am a BIG multishipper, so unless I FUCKING HATE something, I probably ship it at least a little bit in specific contexts or AUs or whatever.

I did used to love reading Ship Manifestos (and it tickles me that Nile/Booker has one! Bring back ship manifestos!) and understanding why people shipped things that I’d never considered before, and honestly -- I’ve said it before -- if anyone could actually explain to me what the fuck the appeal of reylo is I wouldn’t hate it so much probably because at least I could apply their reasoning to it, but. Not a ship I HATED, no. There are definitely ships that I’ve gone, “Okay, in X context, I can see shipping it, but not in a canon story,” but even then, if it feels too OOC I just can’t ship it.

There have been specific FICS that I’ve enjoyed for pairings that I don’t like (there are some great Gale/Katniss fics!) but I wouldn’t say I like the PAIRING now.

7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?

Not really. I pretty much like stuff forever once I like it, hence my Pinterest hobby of creating Strawberry Shortcake OCs, lol. I don’t really believe in growing out of stuff, and it’s easy to access my emotional heartspace for things when I see them and go, “Ah, yes, I remember exactly how much joy this gave me and I still love it for that.”

But I do have a hard time with 1D stuff because of Larries, and I do still feel pretty betrayed by the SW Sequel Trilogy as a whole for shafting Finn, Poe, AND Rey (and Rose, and Jannah, and Leia, and Luke, and Black Squadron, and...) and not giving us the Trio trilogy we deserved.
