do you guys ever think about how the early descriptions of armand in tvl contrast with what we learn about him later in the series? like how we get lestat and gabrielle and marius framing him as a uniquely uncreative and childlike and limited by the scope of the biases of his century, a sort of empty force animated by whatever personality of ideology he's following at the time.

we get passages like this and that's, like, at the point of the book where lestat is on the most friendly terms with him that he's gonna get. lestat seems to hold himself apart from armand -- he's a modern man, he's an atheist, he's clever and skeptical enough to challenge things, armand is a primitive little boy from the middle ages who can't and won't question things and doesn't even have the imagination to come up with a tall blond guy.

and then naturally marius refers to him as a lost cause and a tragedy, someone simply too young and too helpless for the blood, as his marius' mistake and marius' moral consequence.

(thanks, marius, glad to hear your fledgeling being forced to choke on the ashes of his brothers, getting tortured/brainwashed and spending centuries in an existence consisting of basically nothing but despair and violence was suuuper fucking hard for you, that seems so difficult, glad you're keeping the focus where it belongs)

and then you get to actually hear his story in full through the later books and it's like. oh, he'd been an artist. oh, he'd repeatedly and specifically questioned marius and pushed back against his moral philosophies and choices despite, you know, being fucking 15-17 talking to a 1500 year old guy (and the explicit physical and sexual abuse in that relationship). oh, it took several months of torture for him to embrace the children of darkness. hey Lestat girlie pop i don't actually think that this amounts to you being built different. just sayin,

I know Murderbot TV Ep. 3 came out literally 2 days ago but I NEED TO DISCUSS THE SUMMERY OF EPISODE 4!!

The first sentence makes sense. As an enemy takes aim at Murderbot [-> evil secunit shooting MB], an ally tries to orchestrate a getaway [-> Gurathin, probably, wants to launch the emergency beacon to get tf off this planet].

But the second sentence?? The team grapples with a leadership shakeup and a shocking ultimatum?? I have so many questions! WHO IS CHALLENGING MENSAS LEADERSHIP? WHAT IS THE SHOCKING ULTIMATUM? DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH THE BLONDE UNKNOWN CHARACTER (by Anna Konkle) FROM (allegedly) DELTFALL?

I have some theories but none of them make really sense. I am assuming this episode will cover Murderbot getting the combat override module and the team bringing it and Blonde Lady back to the PresAux hub. So the ultimatum could be by Gurathin and be something like "We keep SecUnit offline or I'll kill it / or I'll launch the beacon." Or it could be about Blonde Lady 'joining' the team temporarily.

But what the fuck is the shake up in leadership? I have talked about this with my murderbot bestie but we couldn't really come up with anything beyond "is it a weird way to say secunit is taking over after being exposed as rogue?". Because we can't see any of the preservation guys challenging Mensa that way, even Gurathin not really. Or is this Blonde Lady wanting to take over because she comes from the Cooperation Rim and having more experience in that sense? (But surely the PresAux team wouldn't allow that, right?)

I have so many questions. I am confused. And I need to know NOW !!! Next friday can't come soon enough 😭

So I'm rewatching Episode 1 of Murderbot and I knew there was something about it helping Arada and Baradwaj back to the hopper. I have been wondering if Arada is holding onto its arm for emotional support but!! ITS BETTER!!

It's the tiniest thing, barely even in frame. Literally "blink and you'll miss it". But when you watch the scene you can see it remove its arm very clearly! In the left pic you can see Murderbot arm crossing over Aradas back and it's thumb is visible on her left shoulder - that's gone in the right pic!
