okay, i talked about mrs. tweak these days, and no joke, im always thinking about her, so here some random headcanons, they're bittersweet and probably doesn't make that sense, but anyways:
- she is completely crazy, smart and no good, but tweek is the only one who can soften her up a little.
- she's definitely not the best mom, but she loves her little boy. tweek inherited her love for music, and she taught him to play the piano. (tweek thinks this is the only time they really understand each other)
- she doesn't know how to express herself or help her son, but she tries in other ways, like spoiling him; she will give tweek money, or just make his favorite foods. tweek wishes she could be better, and that she could learn how to talk to him, but he likes to be spoiled like that too lol
- she sees the way that tweek, even though he's anxious and afraid of everything, knows how to assert himself, and she gets happy because he takes after her more than he takes after his father.
- she doesn't really love richard, but who would turn down the guy who had a coffee shop and clearly had some good money? she had learned to put up with him over the years, and they had become more like business partners than anything else. that was enough for her.
- she didn't want to have children, but she gave in because she had to do what richard wanted, since she married for money. that's why she even let him named their baby "tweek". that's also why she's kind of distant and doesn't really know how to deal with the fact that she's a mother, but she learned to love tweek, in her own odd way. it helped that she thinks that tweek looked more like her than richard.
- she likes craig, even though she thinks the tucker family are too redneck for her taste lol but he was good for tweek, so she tries to make her son-in-law feel welcomed at least, and used to baked things that craig liked.
- she and randy were kinda best friends in high school. they drifted apart because everyone thought they had something, and their respective partners were jealous. they still talk sometimes because they both had this nostalgia and longing for the good old days.
- she's brazilian, her name would be beatriz in this case, and funnily enough tweek's obsession with coffee would come from his mother's side, since —and i'm not even kidding— the most common thing you'll find in brazil is a kid drinking coffee every day, or brazilians just being obsessed with coffee in general (but this one is just a silly thing i thought bc im brazilian lol)
thats all i guess. tweak family is just so interesting, im always thinking about them kahdaksjsjjsjsj

For a "left-leaning, science-based progressive" you sure seem awful fucking concerned about coddling the fascist dipshits who tried overthrowing the democratically elected government for the benefit of a cunt dying in the Minions Room in Orlando
Hey. If you don't mind, I'd like to take your ask as a chance to make some clarifications and explanations to any who'd hear.
In this blog, I try to curate accurate news and sort out information. My own stance is that I'm left-leaning and progressive. However, I want to share views different from mine to a certain extent – as long as they respect basic human rights & dignity and are not mis- or dis-information, because otherwise, I feel I might be depriving people of valid views, which could be valuable for them to form their own opinions. This is not a "both sideism" as treating bolsonarista grifters with the same validity of credible reporters, but of trying to represent as many credible reporters as I can.
And, as much as I understand and mostly defend the Supreme Court and Alexandre de Moraes's actions, it's a fact that there are serious analysts and observers (personally, I no longer count Gl3nn Gr33nwald, who in my opinion wants to apply an US law-based view of free speech that is not what's stated in the Brazilian Constitution) who are raising eyebrows and weary that lines might be crossed. So I think it is fair to post such view. I've also posted others that run in contrast to it, like this piece – Brazil's Social Media Restrictions Are Not Worth A Free Speech Freakout, with which I agree more than this one about which I assume you're talking.
All in all, being literally only one (1) person with thousands of followers, I feel like a have a responsibility and duty to try and not impose my singular, particular, personal points of view to those who have trusted me for information, and to try and be diverse in what I share, within boundaries of factuality and human respect. I try and check out journalistic credibility of every piece I share, one by one, and, one time or another, will post things with which I disagree but think valid. 'Destroying Democracy To Save It?' is one of such instances. It took a while for me to decide whether I should post it, even, because the rioters, for me, must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law even if treated humanely, which is, as far as I've seen, what appears to be happening.
It doesn't mean, however, that we should give carte blanche for Alexandre to do whatever he wants, because if we do, at some point it could backfire against us.
And you are in your right to disagree with the piece and roast me for posting it. I even understand. But within my own constraints of what I consider valid to be sharing here (factuality & basic human decency), I thought it was worth it. I welcome disagreements nonetheless. Should my mind be changed, I'm open to taking it down and not posting similar stuff in the future.
Hope I made sense and that you have a good day.
-Mod Nise da Silveira

this twitter-ban in Brazil got me thinking about how billionaires are just the terrible side of all mankind and how they should never exist.
lately, social media was full of incels, neonazi and far-right supporters, not even mentioning all the fake news there.
I loved every 15 years of using Twitter. It was fun as hell, but since ap4rtheid-clyde bought that app, everything went down bad.
for real, I'm gonna miss my account. but I'd rather not have any platform, especially when the owner is an asshole who doesn't respect the laws of my country just because he thinks he can.

Iron Man With Storm Breaker 👀🔥
She looks like she might be a mutant and it's hard to tell and she doesn't get destroyed looks like it but she actually escapes so there's another question and the third question is who is she and he thinks it's a daughter of ours and it might be and from the Sahara towards Egypt is true it's not actually in Egypt and she's monstrously huge at first but it's got kind of the same swept look
Hera Zues
It's not me a lot of people think it is it is my character and it is me as the demon of course and I get the thing out yeah I guess it is me and where is the other side if I told his wife and he says I don't know
Proxima Midnight
Yes I'm a son-in-law and you're not my character and he figured it out because I'm extremely White that's true that's how and he's trying to find a character it can be a Comic-Con and he said you shouldn't be your own character since but I can be the character Comic-Con and they're trying to write all sorts of stuff and that's why but you're right about something we can do that and yeah I kick ass my character's awesome and we're going to make these bikes down there from this huge middle area it's south of Brazil and the Amazon and we're gathering them up and the guys crapped out just like they did here and you should hear yourself talk you sound just like me but really you know we speak a little differently if you don't say it all the time what we do we didn't see it at Christmas who's that huge guy and you're pretty big and come over and we look kind of similar but you're not used to people pushing you around you used to being respected and it comes across too very regal. Inside we know you're this control man who loves his wife very much and I love my wife and she's a daughter and people are messing around with it and you thought she was one of these people and she said it too I got to get that out somehow this is hell and he doesn't know who to hit when that happens and then run the machine over flying and I'm mad about that and he says are you sure you're not making a human version and yeah that might be what it is cuz he knows what happens and I don't look like global in this but this is what it is we're lobo and proximate midnight and we have characters that look like them and so it's a way to get in there
Lobo
Good we fooled you that's enough for me we got to work on it

I will never write this, but since I can't keep the ideo out of my mind, I putting it out.
I read Other people's blood by 94BottlesOfSnapple ans neonbrutalism and it is good. In the fic Matt was "adopted" by Fisk, he hates him but wants to be the king pin.
Thinking about what Fisk believed to be in season one, also the child abuse Stick and the Chaste by proxy did to Matt and probably other kids, it got me thinking about a daredevil au.
So, in this Wilson Fisk would still be brutal, mas more of a antihero than a villain. Also way more older.
Maybe he would still be king pin, but in a way like some crime lords did work sometimes, like, rape and murder was forbidden in their community, it happened in Brazil in some favelas and people did feel grateful and since the govern and the cops only did bad things to the community, they respected the crime lords and felt more protected by them. So, maybe a more benevolent king pin, idk.
He would adopted Matt Murdock after the ordeal with Stick. Already married to Vanessa. They pick Matt because the good PR, because Fisk feel some kinship with the boy blinded saving a hell's kitchen senior and because they want a son.
They raise Matt with love, training him for business, but not involving him in the illegal operations. They hire tutors and Matt learns art and how to fight and still have issues, but have a family.
He still goes to law school, still befriends Foggy, I would make it Mattfoggy, just doesn't know how and in what point they become a couple.
Matt still becomes daredevil, but is fighting the hand and ends up fighting also the chaste, maybe rescuing more kids from them.
IDK if I would make it angst with a confrontation between Matt and his crime family or not, maybe since the fisk side of business doens't do petty crimes, actually fight sex traffic and some vile stuff, just steals from other companies and intimidate them, idk, they sort of make peace and a fragile alliance.
It would be a au as I said and out of character, but I think that it could be interesting!

Do you HC that MC/Ethan are still close to The Gang in the future? Like when their child/ren are bigger, or they’re retired doctors? Who of them do you HC they would eventually have less contact with and who of them would remain their best of friends?
What an interesting question anon, I love it! 💜
So, realistically speaking, medicine is a field in which opportunities come and go every day, especially when you are as talented as MC and the gang. So I won't believe that they didn't get any better job opportunities, and didn't have to move out of Boston.
For as much as I have HC-ed in my Future Career HC, Bryce moves out immediately after residency to move in with Meera's sister Lina in NYC. As Meera's brother-in-law I'd say they are the closest. Followed closely by Sienna because you can't separate one dolphin from the other no matter how much distance you put between them.
As for the least contact, I think it'll be Raf. Let's be honest for a sec, Raf's career path is very different from the rest of the gang given I do not HC his career change to physiotherapy because PB didn't make sense there. Secondly he already had plans to return to Brazil so even if Meera and the gang wanted to keep contact timezones doesn't facilitate the process. So gradually he becomes out of touch, not completely but the most.
But this is a fictional world, where all things are perfect so I HC the gang meets up with each other when they are in their respective cities, and they try to squeeze in a vacation every now and then. But they all do have busy schedules and very demanding jobs so if worst comes to worst they jump in on a quick zoom call to catch up.
They might not see each other every day, or necessarily talk to each other everyday but they are definitely still friends. Because when you experience something as intense as residency and internship in the medical field, the highs and lows makes you bond for life and brings you closer to the people you trust. 💜
Thank you so much for sending this to me anon. I loved analyzing and answering this!

The Connections Between Eleanor Calder and the Ex 1D Manager - Kimberly Davidson; a thread and theory.
So, first of all, I'll translate cause not everyone know my native language. I'm from Brazil and i'm not that good speaking English, but I'll try. I think it matters a lot talk about larry stuff for everyone.
I wish to thank my mutuals to had faith on my stuff and on my digital content, means a lot for me; I want to ask for respect, all of this came from searching and stalking, I didn't create any lies and not even disseminated any around the fandom. IF MY content isn't of your interest I ask you with kindness to back off and don't read; Cause if your answer comes out disrespectful I'll be forced to be worse than you. Now I want to thank my friends @intostylinson, @scarsoned and @sunflourry who helped me with sources and the larry breakdowns. Thank my squad @cucusfromcanyon too. And last, but not even a bit less important, I really want to thank @SV88819, she really cleared my mind about all of this, helped me to organize my stuff with her own theory. I’m grateful and I wish you the best, thanks for everything. In third, I'm asking to you guys to give me a feedback and credit me if you're putting on your social medias, I'm law student and I'm sure: piracy i won’t forgive.
Part 1: Who's Kimberly Davidson?
Kimberly worked on Modest Management probably between 2011-2017. In november 9th, 2018, she and Sophie Gildersleeve started their own business, River Talent Management, a company that work with digital media. Kimberly apparently was very close to the One Direction Boys, we can see this on her own Instagram (http://instagram.com/kimblyd) and http://Ask.fm (http://ask.fm/kimmydavison). But now you're probably asking yourself: When Eleanor get in? I'll show you.
Tumblr media
Part 2: The relationship between Eleanor and Kimberly.
As I said, Kimberly kept friendship and contact with the One Direction boys, especially Niall; But curiously, she had never liked any Eleanor's post on Instagram. This changed in February 8th, 2018, one year after Eleanor came back with Louis, and 9 months earlier River Talent Management inception. Finally, at december 11th, 2019, Kimberly starts to comment Eleanor's posts and so Sophie, her partner. Exatcly when Eleanor came back with publi posts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The best thing about this: Eleanor follows another girl who works with Sophie and Kim - Lucy, and the Eleanor stans and portals also, are saying "She's working with them".
Tumblr media
According with S.V., Eleanor contract with Modest Management problaby has a clause in wich says that they need put her back on market, and it makes a lot of sense, just like we can see, Kim still close of Simon Jones - Louis PR. They have a work relation, cause they're following the same persons around the manager business, and interact on Instagram.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kimberly working for Eleanor, being a contract by Modest Team. Won’t surprise anyone they worked together for almost 7 years, would be weird if they're didn't contact her. S.V still says that Simon followed River Talent way before followed Eleanor on Instagram, and the last time when Eleanor and Louis broke up, she came back for the digital influencer life... And when they came back as a couple, she left the influencer life again. It’s naive to think that Eleanor would drop her carrer just because of her boyfriend, of course she's getting money in some way, and we know how. Attention: Harry doesn't follow Kim on his official account, he only follows her on @hscox94  - an account wich we stalked and we all know that belongs to him (https://twitter.com/cucusfromcanyon/status/1213652521803243520?s=20 ). Would be funny if not tragic that just 3/5 of ot5 follows Kim, and both of them envolved a lot with beard and stunt shit. Believe in what you want to, but after this, I’ll never be weak again

If you believe in democracy, if you believe in science, if you believe in justice and workers' rights, well...you can just hold your breath
1. Donald Trump is, at his core, an authoritarian leader who does not believe in democracy.
In a democracy we can and will have strong differences of opinion on issues. As you well know, there are ideological disputes within the Democratic Party, and there are certainly very major differences between Democrats and Republicans, progressives, moderates and conservatives. But, up until the Trump administration, no president (except for Obama, Bush, Bush, Clinton, Reagan and many others) has ever undermined the very tenets of American democracy and tried to move us into an authoritarian society.
No president has ever suggested delaying an election because he is behind in the polls. No president has ever stated that he might not voluntarily leave office and accept the results of an election. No president has ever viciously discredited and undermined the election process warning, without fact, of massive voter fraud. Trump's admiration for authoritarianism becomes apparent as he has ruptured our relationships with long-time democratic allies around the world while embracing right-wing authoritarian leaders in Russia, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, the Philippines and elsewhere.
(No people have ever been stupid enough and apathetic enough to elect such a piece of brainless pigshit.)
2. Donald Trump does not understand or respect the Constitution of the United States. (and most cops swear an oath to it having never read it with no clue what’s in it.)
Donald Trump, emulating demagogues throughout history, believes that he is above the law and need not follow the dictates of the Constitution. He was impeached because he has shown absolute contempt for Congress and the separation of powers. He has waged an unprecedented war against the concept of a free press and "fake news," and has repeatedly referred to the media as "an enemy of the people." He has violated the right of Americans to peacefully protest and is "normalizing" the use of federal agents to patrol and make arrests of American citizens in communities throughout the country.
3. Donald Trump is a pathological liar. ( - welcome to America, Bernie!)
We cannot have anything resembling a stable government when we have a president who lies all of the time and when nothing he says can be trusted. According to a recent report, he has made more than 20,000 false or misleading statements since he has been president.
4. Donald Trump does not believe in science. (And neither does many other politicians and many Americans...US of Duh!)
From the first days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Trump has rejected the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and our leading scientists, which has led to the unnecessary deaths of tens of thousands of Americans and the highest per capita death rate of any major country.
And, as he's done for years, Trump continues to ignore the scientific community when it comes to the existential threat of climate change. Instead of transforming our energy system away from fossil fuel, he has pushed policies which result in more carbon emissions.
5. Donald Trump's policies benefit his billionaire friends, while attacking the needs of working families. (He’s had a lot of help from both sides of the aisle)
During his 2016 campaign Trump claimed that he would stand with the working class and "drain the swamp." He lied. He has appointed more billionaires to important positions than any other president in history while giving massive tax breaks to the very rich and large corporations. At a time of obscene income and wealth inequality, he continues to try to throw over 20 million Americans off the health insurance they already have, and do away with protections for pre-existing conditions. While the rich become much richer, his budgets have repeatedly called for huge cuts in Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, education and nutrition programs.
6. Donald Trump is a racist. (- Donald and about half of America)
From the start of his 2016 campaign, until today, he has tried to divide us up based on the color of our skin or where we were born. He has strongly supported voter suppression efforts which make it harder for African Americans to vote, and consistently made ugly and disparaging remarks against African American leaders. Recently, he bragged about an executive order which makes it harder for minority families to move into the suburbs.
7. Donald Trump is a xenophobe. (Trump is many things that could be described with a psychiatric multisyllabic term. You should have left it at racist.)
Trump has tried, as all demagogues do, to demonize immigrants and blame them for society’s problems. He has used hateful and disgraceful rhetoric to try to dehumanize an entire group of people, and has used the power of the federal government to mistreat and terrorize immigrants at the border and in our communities.
8. Donald Trump is a sexist. (I think I would have mentioned Trump’s recent get-free-soon card to Ghislane Maxwell alongside some pictures of the bastard with his dumbfuck daughter in his lap.)
Not only has Trump led the effort to deny women the right to control their own bodies and defund Planned Parenthood, he has — throughout his adult life — made disparaging and condescending comments about women. It is not surprising that some of his ugliest attacks have been against strong women leaders like Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Carmen Yulín Cruz Soto.
9. Donald Trump is a religious bigot. (- nah, christians are racists, supremacists and conservative and they need him and they are expedient. Donald really doesn't give a fuck about any christians or jews. He’d turn on them like a mad dog, if it suited him.)
One of the first things Trump did after taking office was sign an executive order for the discriminatory Muslim ban to prohibit people from several Muslim-majority countries from traveling to the United States. He has used the office of the presidency to demonize the Muslim community and to try to divide us up based on our religious beliefs.
10. Donald Trump is hostile to the LGBTQ community. (small shaft, so sad)
During his administration, Trump has waged continued assaults on the rights of LGBTQ people. He recently rolled back health protections for transgender people and previously banned them from serving in the military. He has also reversed protections that defend LGBTQ people from discrimination in the workplace and at school.
11. The Democrat Party is the same kind of shit as the Republican Party.
Lying Joe Blow Biden, will enact the same fascist neoliberal anti worker, no health care policies as Trump but because Joe has dementia he’ll keep his mouth shut and won’t embarrass everyone as much. And, of course the useless DNC can and will mindlessly and insanely pretend to be our savior...
12....we’re fucked.

My (often relatively reasonable) dad: ...so Enoch Powell was right, what he said has happened.
Me: and you don't think maybe he could've said it without inciting racial hatred and literally saying that in time the rivers might run with the blood of 'native' British people because of immigration, do you?
My dad: no, you're being ridiculous, it had to be said, and there really are areas of cities that are majority black or Muslim now so he was right in his predictions, and it didn't change how things were anyway
Me: *goes away to calm down and read up on the 'Rivers of Blood' speech*
[I already knew some of this but here's a précis for those unfamiliar: in April 1968, in Wolverhampton, UK, a Conservative MP, Enoch Powell, made a speech, about the proposed 'Race Relations Bill' (which subsequently made it illegal to refuse housing/ employment/public services to people on the grounds of race/colour/ ethnic & national origins).
The speech was strongly anti-immigrant, calling for 'voluntary re-emigration' and for moves to be made to stem the tide of immigration, else Britain would be 'overrun' and sooner or later white British people would find themselves fully second-class citizens, and that in some ways they already were. He also talked about a "tragic and intractable phenomenon which we watch with horror on the other side of the Atlantic", which I take to mean immigration in the USA to the similar end of white people no longer being in charge - which in 1968 was so far from the truth, and just horrible baseless fear-mongering, playing on people’s xenophobia and racist prejudice - and compared pro-immigration/anti-discrimination newspapers to the ones that had denied and hid the rise of fascism and threat of war in the 1930s. Plus, he talked about a constituent of his, a woman who lived on a street that had become occupied by mostly black people, who lost her white lodgers and complained to the council for a tax rate reduction because she wouldn't take black tenants, and instead basically got told not to be racist, and presented it as a bad thing that she'd been treated like that.
The speech's common name comes from a phrase he quoted from the Aenid (because he was also a Cambridge-educated classics scholar), 'I seem to see "the River Tiber foaming with much blood"', although he just called it 'the Birmingham speech' and seemed to be surprised by the uproar he caused.]
Me (to self): So it didn't change things did it? How do you explain the attacks against nonwhite people where the attackers literally shouted his name and repeated his rhetoric? Oh, they would definitely have happened if he hadn't made that speech, wouldn't they? And the British people of foreign descent who were so afraid they might be removed from their lives just for not being white they always had cases packed to go? And the fact that experts says he set back progress in 'race relations' by about ten years and legitimised being racist/anti-immigrant in the same way UKIP and some pro-Brexit types have done within the last few years here (fun fact: immediately after the Brexit vote, people were being racially and physically abusive to visibly Muslim and/or South Asian people, telling them to leave because of Brexit, which was of course extreme nonsense because their presence would be nothing to do with the EU, and more likely the British Empire and the Commonwealth, but they were doing it because it seemed suddenly okay to be openly racist, because Nigel Farage and his ilk, and a legally non-binding vote surrounded in lies, said so) and others have done elsewhere, in the US and Europe and Brazil and so many other places.
Powell was interviewed about the speech in 1977 and stood by his views, said that because the immigration figures were higher than those he had been 'laughed at' about in his speech, he was right and now governments didn't want to deal with the "problem", were passing it off to future generations and it would go on until there was a civil war!
He also said he wasn't a 'racialist' (racist) because he believed a "'racialist' is a person who believes in the inherent inferiority of one race of mankind to another, and who acts and speaks in that belief" so he was in fact "a racialist in reverse" as he regarded "many of the peoples in India as being superior in many respects—intellectually, for example, and in other respects—to Europeans." (I mean, I know I can't hold him to our standards but a) that's still racism and b) he did think that mankind was divided into very distinct, probably biologically so, races, which, yes, normal for the time, but the whole 'each with different qualities and ways in which they were better than others' is iffy)
Me: *goes back to Dad to make my point and definitely not get upset* So here are some things that literally happened as a consequence of the 'Rivers of Blood' speech...
So even if he was correct to say what he did (I mean, he wasn't but you have to tiptoe around Dad and I had points to make), he shouldn't have said it the way he did
My dad: so you think the truth should be suppressed? You're only looking at this from one perspective (he thinks he knows better because he was alive at the time and my brother and I weren't despite the fact that we're both into politics and history and, y'know, not into scapegoating, behaving oddly, and laying blame because people are different to us - he and mum also have issues with trans people and we're trying so hard to change their views/behaviours but I'm not sure it's working & that's a whole different story) and there are these areas that really are Muslim-only (because informal lending and wanting to keep the community together is such a crime, right?) and they don't integrate and want to impose Sharia law (only he couldn't remember what it was called right then) and you don't know what it's like (he is an engineer surveyor and travels all over to inspect boilers and cooling systems and all sorts of stuff, and this includes into majority-Black or -Asian (Muslim and otherwise) areas in Birmingham - which is not a no-go area for non-Muslims, I'm a deeply agnostic white woman, it's my nearest big city and I wish I went there more often but it's tricky as I don't drive, public transport is bad/inconvenient, and I have no friends to go with except depression and anxiety [which are worse 'friends' than the ones that I found out only liked me in high school because I always had sweets and snacks at lunch so when I got braces and my mouth hurt too much to eat much of anything which meant I certainly didn't have snacks, they dropped me pretty quickly] so apparently he's the expert on all such matters)
What I wish I'd said: *staying very calm* well, and that's your opinion, I'm going, I've got sewing to finish *leaves*
What actually happened:
Me: have you considered that they are able to buy up areas like that because white people leave because of their prejudice against the 'influx'?
Dad: they buy up great areas because they buy in groups (I think this refers to a sort of community lending thing to be compliant with various parts of Islam? [Please correct me if I'm wrong] which is effectively what building societies/credit unions were, at least to begin with, and he doesn't take issue with those) and want to stay together. Why do they do that? Sikhs don't do that, they buy big houses and aren't bothered about being close together.
Me: different religious ethoses? I don't know... But you do know that they people who want the UK to be a caliphate ruled by Sharia law are just a minority, and that most Muslims would not want that at all, just like you?
Dad: but they still do want it, and it could happen, if there was a charismatic leader,
Me: *incredulous* you know it's about as likely for that to actually happen as for strictly Orthodox Jewish people to be able to make this country into another Israel, right? Besides, there are the police, and the armed forces, and intelligence agencies, not to mention the Government and civil service (thought I'd got a win there, he hates the unchanging upper-class-public-school-Oxbridge nature of the people who effectively really run the government, constant no matter the leaning of the elected party, but no) who have a vested interest in preserving themselves in their current state so would be able to stop anything like that
Dad: yes, but the cutting of funding to police and public services means they might not be able to stop it (I realise now that he's oddly economically left-wing but also really quite socially conservative in some ways)
Me: *getting angry* but it's still an absolute minority, most Muslims would be horrified if it really did happen, and have you ever considered that maybe they wouldn't be so ill-disposed to us and to integration if we didn't demand it of them the moment that they arrive, demand that they assimilate or go away (he often uses the phrase "yes, but they're in somebody else's country, they should make an effort") and maybe young people wouldn't be so easily radicalised and people generally mistrust the people who don't try to understand them, you know, want them to change everything about themselves (for instance, Dad is violently opposed to the burqa etc and not really a fan of the hijab - still doesn't get that it's a choice and people can do what they want because apparently 'anyone could be wearing one of those things' - burqas/niqabs, I presume - and that it must all be forced because who would possibly choose to dress like that - I have half a mind to show him those sites about Christian modest dressing (one was a shop and a lot of their range was pretty cute!) that I once found, just to see if that'll prove to him it is a choice thing) *tries to leave*
Dad: *angry* You stay there and listen to me! You're just looking at it from one perspective and that's not the truth, you're so biased and closed-minded, you only look at things your way!
Me: *furious* Really? Really? Am I? *Scoffs/incredulous exhalation* I'm closed-minded, am I?... *Storms out, shouts as I go* I'm not the one who said Enoch Powell was right!!
This is all heavily paraphrased, because I've been writing this for literal hours now and I was angry and don't remember well at the best of times, it may have been worse than how I'm writing it
Also, going to be tricky to patch up but right now I stand by what I said, because I know my perspective is limited, but at least I actually admit that and try to find out what people different to me think, rather than basing all my opinions and things on my own experiences which can't be universal, as he seems to
Other bs my dad said during the two conversations: "don't get so upset about it, it's only history" (which is bold, considering it was the 50th anniversary this year and he was literally 11 years old when it happened so probably saw/heard news coverage)... "Yes of course far right groups use 'Enoch was right' as a slogan, it doesn't mean anything"... Reiterating the 'nothing changed' thing multiple times... Dismissing the fact that Powell said there'd be a civil war because apparently just because the British/Europeans were aggressive conquerors anyone else who came in numbers anywhere would eventually have that aim and how ridiculous that view actually is... Dismissing the fact that Powell basically incited racial hatred and violence with the inclusion of an irrelevant Classical phrase which spread fear on all sides...
I could go on but I'm so tired and don't want to make myself more upset
I love my parents but I really don't like them very much lately but I don't know if I just put up with it or leave sooner or later and if I do leave I don't know where I'd go because no friends
Basically I'm so sorry for my parents' prejudices which I'm still trying to unlearn myself - I apologise wholeheartedly to all Muslim and Jewish people and honestly pretty much everyone they're prejudiced against

Nancy & Rio
Nancy: I can't believe you're going along with this craziness Nancy: Oh my god, Rio Rio: I know it's fast Rio: but really, what difference does it make Nancy: It's not just fast, it's rushed Nancy: Not to sound like my mother but he should literally be at school Rio: I did tell him to go back Rio: He just wants to help with all the mess here Nancy: By leaving to jet off and get married? Yeah okay Rio: Well, obviously that's different Rio: but that's for me Nancy: My parents are gonna kill him, you do know that, right? Rio: I know Rio: but like I said, everyone knew Rio: it wasn't just empty words, we were always going to go through with it Nancy: Jesus Nancy: When he'd graduated, sure Nancy: Not now Nancy: He's not even started uni yet Rio: Give him chance to see the world and change his mind Rio: I know that's what your family wants, it's alright Nancy: If you're thinking there's a chance of it too, don't marry him Nancy: You're already engaged, everyone knows he's with you Nancy: You don't need to prove he's locked down before freshers week, like Rio: That's not why we're doing this Rio: Or how I am Nancy: Explain it to me then, 'cause lord knows he hasn't Rio: It is getting a little old, like Rio: Because we want to be married Rio: How else is there to say it Nancy: But why can't you just wait? Rio: Why should we though? Nancy: There's only a million reasons Nancy: Namely you aren't kids anymore and know how to be mature about things Nancy: Everyone would wanna be there, not tacked on as an afterthought, like Nancy: He should want to not spend all my parents money on this and wait until he's earning his own Nancy: You don't even live together Nancy: Do I actually have to go on? Rio: No you don't Rio: none of you want to be there Rio: and your parents don't specify what he's gotta do with the ridiculous amount of money they throw at him so Rio: if they wanna now it's a bit late, isn't it Nancy: That's not true Nancy: You're being unfair Nancy: Give me some credit if not them, I've been nothing but supportive Rio: I'm not saying you've not accepted that it's happening Rio: most have but no one's happy about it and that's fine Rio: can't force it but why wouldn't we want to do it alone without the pressure and background thought of all your lots bullshit, you know Nancy: No, you're just saying I wouldn't wanna be there Nancy: I love you both Rio: We'll have another one Rio: Later, with everyone Nancy: That's not the same Nancy: That's just a party Rio: What, you're really invested in the religious ceremony now or the legality of it all? Rio: It'll be the same Nancy: You're gonna be a bitch to me right now, really? Nancy: Okay fine Rio: I'm not trying to be a bitch but really Rio: it isn't an argument, stick to your former points if you like Rio: but that ain't valid Nancy: Oh my god, Buster spends all this time acting like I don't care, basically telling me I don't and now when I'm trying to show that I do neither of you want it Rio: Because it only comes up whenever y'all want us to not do something Nancy: Don't lump me in with my parents Nancy: That's so rude Rio: Sorry Rio: We told you because you are different Rio: and we weren't going to just do it and give you no warning Nancy: But not different enough that you actually want me there Nancy: Or that you don't think I need to be warned like this is the worse news ever or something Rio: It's hardly personal, come on Rio: We don't want anyone there Nancy: It's personal to me Nancy: I've only got one brother Rio: He isn't dying Rio: This doesn't need to be the thing it's becoming Rio: plenty of couples do the official wedding before the reception and all that, it's not that different Nancy: Other couples don't matter to me Nancy: And I don't know how you don't get what a big deal this is, not only that you're getting married, which is one thing Nancy: But also that you're basically doing it in secret again Rio: It's not a secret Rio: it's just for us Rio: I want to do one thing for myself Rio: all due respect this isn't about any of you Nancy: I'm not trying to make you feel bad Nancy: Or take anything away from you Nancy: Honestly Nancy: I'm just trying to get my head around this Rio: Yeah Rio: It's okay Rio: I know it's sudden, like I said Nancy: I know he really wants this Nancy: I could tell Nancy: I just Nancy: Is anything ever gonna calm down with this family, or? Rio: Probably not Rio: Looking unlikely Nancy: If you're happy that's all I want Nancy: Oversimplified maybe but Rio: I know it's not going to make you happy Rio: I'm just trying to say Rio: do you have to be unhappy about it, like Rio: it's not the worst thing, yeah Nancy: I'm not unhappy, I was just shocked Nancy: This is my brother you're marrying, you know Nancy: It's not exactly typical of him Rio: I know Rio: I know it's weird, like I am aware Rio: but it just is, you know Nancy: I understand Nancy: You want what you want Nancy: You can't unwant it 'cause someone else tells you to or isn't happy about it Nancy: You shouldn't have to Nancy: You literally don't have to, like Rio: Yeah Rio: Pretty much Rio: I'm sorry Nancy: Don't apologize Nancy: I couldn't just not be gay when I was getting bullied for it Nancy: I'm glad I don't like boys, believe me Nancy: Buster's the happiest he's ever been, you did that. So don't be sorry Rio: I didn't mean for any of this to happen Rio: to like him, I just did Rio: but I can't live an apology when I don't feel it anymore Nancy: I know Nancy: You love each other, you don't get to control that Nancy: And its a good thing, even when it doesn't feel like it Nancy: Who wants to be alone? To fight against what they want? Nancy: You're happy so be it Rio: Thanks, Nance Rio: You know we love you too Nancy: I know you do Nancy: Jury's still out on him Rio: Nah Rio: He does Nancy: Today maybe Nancy: 'Cause I'm not gonna tell mum and ruin his life Rio: Least wait 'til we're outta the country Rio: wouldn't put it past her to get us on the no-fly list Nancy: I'm gonna let her see all his bragging on the socials instead Nancy: More fun that way Nancy: "Your classroom looks suspiciously tropical, Buster" Nancy: While Dad just hits him with "Cool pic" Rio: 😂 Rio: Gonna laugh whilst I can Nancy: Me too Nancy: On the plus side, I think you've taken the heat off me at least until I graduate, so thanks Rio: Easy Rio: if I live to cause more turmoil you're very welcome Rio: what are the hated daughter-in-laws for after-all Nancy: 😂 Nancy: Oh honey, once you're married in you're gonna wish she hated you Nancy: She's gonna get so invested in your life Nancy: Can't have you ruining his, after all Rio: I'll take it Rio: Didn't stick around for career's advice and I could do worse, like Nancy: True Nancy: I'm just basking in the joy of knowing it literally doesn't matter who I bring home Nancy: Oh the freedom Rio: 😏 Rio: Charming Nancy: You know what I mean Nancy: I could be fucking my therapist and it'd be sidelined by this Rio: Well Rio: are you Nancy: Gross Nancy: No Rio: That's alright then Nancy: But she constantly says I need to be single for a while, so she clearly wants me for herself Rio: Deffo Nancy: Like, excuse you, Diane, I've been single for 18 years near enough Nancy: 1 girlfriend, honey, we've talked about it, get with the program Rio: Basically a nun Rio: out here calling you a dirty jezzie Nancy: Yeah, I know Nancy: Thank god you're giving me time to find a date for the other wedding Nancy: Clearly I'll need it, or a new therapist Rio: If you're moving Diane in, then yeah Rio: Unprofessional Nancy: Lord Nancy: She is so not the one Nancy: I think I hate her? Is that meant to be a thing? Rio: Probably Rio: You're stubborn and she's essentially telling you what to do Nancy: It's even worse Nancy: She makes me tell myself 🙄 Rio: Yeah Rio: Smug, init Nancy: It really is Nancy: Ugh enough about me Nancy: When are you going? What are you wearing? Rio: Brazil Rio: and Christ knows, oddly I don't have a wedding dress just hanging about Rio: I'll find one there, I guess Nancy: The question was when, he told me where but he hadn't got that far Nancy: I think he thinks you're gonna call it off unless you've made it to the actual plane Nancy: Just don't get married in a white bikini, yeah? Rio: Oh, my bad Rio: Head is truly all over the place Rio: Well, I am that tacky Nancy: 😲 take that back right now Nancy: You are not Nancy: This isn't the mindset Rio: Do you wanna like, moodboard my shotgun wedding for me? 😂 Rio: That's what I'm hearing here Nancy: UM YES Nancy: Get some Chanel and YSL involved, like Rio: Noted Rio: Whether that's the old or new depends how skint we're feeling once we're there, clearly Nancy: It's got to be classic or I'm disowning you Nancy: I'll allow you to save the real designer labels for the big day, bit of Vera or whoever but I can only budge so far, sorry Nancy: The silhouette is still everything even if he's the only one seeing it Rio: 😂 Rio: That's what I'm saying, stick with the bikini Rio: He'll be blown away Nancy: 🙄🙄 Nancy: That's so disgustingly true as well Nancy: Men Rio: Oh please Rio: Like you wouldn't wanna see your wifey like that Nancy: I'm not getting married ever but if I did, that woman better dress up for me Nancy: Whole 9 yards Nancy: Did you see my mother's wedding dress? Iconic Rio: Hmm Rio: Maybe you're right Rio: Great, now I gotta stress about that Rio: Thanks bitch 😜 Nancy: I would say sorry but I'm not Nancy: You can wear a bikini any time, you'll be going for like a week + Nancy: Besides, he's the kind of boy who actually appreciates clothes Nancy: Labels anyway Rio: I blame you entirely Nancy: Not sorry, again Rio: You can explain my sudden cold feet to him then Nancy: Gladly Nancy: Me and him haven't argued in so long Rio: 😑 Nancy: It would get something back to normal, that's all I'm saying Rio: Who wants normal? Nancy: Um Nancy: Me Rio: Nah Rio: Only 'cos you ain't had it Rio: No fun, trust Nancy: Alright, Diane 2.0 😏 Rio: Don't get ideas Rio: I know you love me but Nancy: 😂 Nancy: Are we gonna have time to do a hen before you go or are you literally flying out when you close this convo? Rio: Who? Me, you and Indie Rio: That would be interesting Nancy: Well, just me and you then Rio: I don't actually know, I'll have to check Rio: I know we were planning for asap but might've given himself a day to pack Rio: you know how it is Nancy: Tell him he can come to the spa too, he'll make time for that Rio: Yeah? Rio: Alright, prep us for the long ass flight Nancy: He loves a facial as much as I do, more probably Nancy: Not to mention a massage Rio: 😏 Rio: Know I'm meant to be mature and everything but Rio: lmao Nancy: DO NOT Nancy: So gross Rio: You said it! Rio: I can't help that Nancy: And you know exactly how I meant it 😒 Nancy: Just 'cause neither of us should be in white dresses no need to disgust me, thanks Rio: 😂 Rio: I'm not sorry Nancy: Well, please change your mind on that Nancy: 'Cause I'm too gay and too related for this, like Rio: That doesn't work getting you out of family functions, it's not gonna work now, babe Nancy: So mean Nancy: Okay fine I'm too single for this Rio: Aww Rio: I don't think we should go to that kinda spa Rio: too weird even for me Nancy: Oh god Nancy: 🙈🙉 Rio: What are hen parties for? Rio: I see why you're so keen now Nancy: I've never been to one Nancy: Thankfully Ro didn't get that far Rio: Shame Rio: I'd have loved to get her a stripper Nancy: 😂 Nancy: Librarian or something Rio: Sexy Rio: Drew probably would've done it Rio: the actual horror Nancy: I just choked on my coffee Nancy: and I'm this close to throwing up Nancy: But it's helped me think of the best stripper for her Nancy: Jesus himself Nancy: Sexily removes crown of thorns Rio: STOP Rio: Nothing hotter than blasphemy Nancy: I WISH I COULD Nancy: Help me actual Jesus Rio: He ain't gon' save you now Rio: fully looking the other way Nancy: Turning that chiseled jaw line 💔 Rio: Gutted Rio: Yeah, you gay, but you're a fellow ginge Rio: no loyalty Nancy: No way he was ginger Nancy: Or that he looked as much like a woman as he does in the art Rio: You should be living for femme Jesus Nancy: I didn't say I wasn't Nancy: Just that it's unlikely Rio: If you wanna chat theology, hit up your auntie fr Nancy: No thanks Nancy: I've done enough babysitting of them both recently Rio: Fun Rio: I just can't wait for the 2 month update when she tells us about all the things Astrid can do Rio: like, blink, cry, shit Nancy: Don't Nancy: There'll be a newsletter Nancy: Why do you think I wanna come to brazil? I'm planning to stay away until the christening is a distant memory Nancy: She's been planning it since before the baby came out, I swear Rio: Gotta get into heaven, mama Rio: the christening dress, good lord Rio: at least she's a girl, the poor baby boys Nancy: Right? Nancy: She wants to approve my outfit too Nancy: Excuse me, who am I? When have I ever made a faux pas Rio: 😂 Unlucky Rio: No showing your knees in church, bitch Nancy: 😒 Nancy: Poor Diane, it's all she's heard about 'cause I'm furious Nancy: Like, I'm not even joking I've had to send her links of what I'm going buy and she's said no to several looks Rio: The cheek Rio: you can't dress code a christening Nancy: Do you see Buster sending her pics of suits, no you do not Nancy: Golden boy could turn up topless in speedos and she wouldn't care Rio: Fresh from Ipanema Rio: She's gonna be 💔 about this wedding forreal Nancy: At least her and mum can bond over it Nancy: Break their silence Nancy: 🙄 Rio: Yeah? Rio: I knew my mum said it'd been pretty quiet Nancy: Better than them screaming at each other Nancy: Astrid doesn't need that Rio: I guess Rio: Was never going to be a joyous time was it Nancy: Not really Nancy: I don't blame you for wanting to leave Rio: Not like I'm allowed 'round that drama anyway Rio: got enough, still Nancy: Yeah Rio: Ah well Nancy: Feel free to join me in therapy Nancy: Buster won't Rio: You're good Rio: Wouldn't know where to begin, like Nancy: It's not as if I did either Nancy: I still don't Rio: Does it help? Nancy: I don't know Nancy: It doesn't, not help, if that makes sense Nancy: Like, I don't feel any worse Nancy: So maybe? Rio: It ain't hurting at least Nancy: Yeah Nancy: And I'll take that Nancy: It's weirdly nice to have someone to talk to, who's not too busy to really listen Rio: Yeah Rio: It makes sense Rio: and someone who odds on has a chance of knowing what they're chatting Nancy: It does make you feel less crazy when they don't look at you like 😲😲😲 Rio: Can't teach that poker face in Psych 101 Nancy: I thought I had a good one but she's taken it well and truly up a notch Rio: I think about the bad things too much as is though, never mind setting aside time for that shit Nancy: Me too Nancy: I could not feel more self indulgent, believe me Rio: Nah Rio: I think it's a good thing Rio: I just don't want to Nancy: I get it Nancy: Most days I don't want to, still Nancy: If she'd just let me text her I'd never go, like Rio: You just want her personal number, babe Nancy: 😂 Nancy: I told you, she's not the one Rio: Whatever you say, honey Nancy: Shush, bitch Rio: 😂 Nancy: I've text my brother about the spa, if I don't hear back I'll assume he's already got you in the air Nancy: Or, you know, he's being a prick Rio: 👍 Rio: I'll confirm either with a plane selfie Rio: or lack of, obvs Rio: Can you like Rio: just keep an eye on Indie when we are gone Rio: you don't have to do anything but she was a bit gutted so Rio: Everyone else will be too but yeah Nancy: Sure Nancy: Do you want me to text you updates spy style or do you want blissful ignorance? Rio: Put it this way Rio: Unless it's an emergency I can sort from Brazil Rio: I don't really want disturbing Rio: but you know the drill actual, keep an eye, tell the olders if she needs nagging into coming home for tea Nancy: Gross but fair Nancy: Okay Rio: Come on Rio: It's my honeymoon, what do you think gonna happen Nancy: I know what will I just don't need to think about my brother being the one doing it to you or with you Nancy: Thanks Rio: Don't be blowing up my phone then babe 😘 Nancy: You wish Rio: You know Rio: Forever holding out hope Nancy: It's fine, we don't need to make it competitive, I'm better Rio: 😂 Rio: That's the spirit Nancy: It's less of a brag more of a fact, really Nancy: Not saying you should dump him and marry me but Rio: Well if that's not what you're saying, why are you saying it at all? Nancy: I'm just saying if you did you know you wouldn't regret it, babe 😏 Rio: I would when you leave me high n dry and 💔 Nancy: Rude Nancy: I would never Rio: Sure 😏 Rio: Say that now Nancy: You're breaking my heart now! The love is real Rio: What can I say? Rio: Can't even hypothetically do him like that Nancy: So cute Rio: Yeah yeah Nancy: I better text him again to find out what he's planning to wear Nancy: Be awkward now if he didn't put the effort in, like Rio: You can bond over it Rio: you 🤓s Nancy: Like you're too cool to care, yeah? Nancy: You love to look good, too Rio: This? Rio: So effortless, naturally Nancy: You can fool him with that, but not me Rio: Rude Nancy: Now you know how the slander feels Nancy: I'm off to cry over the one that got away, obviously 😏 Nancy: Doubting my devotion Rio: Now I know why I don't go out with women Rio: fuck you knowing all my secrets, no thanks Rio: but okay then, see you getting a facial or not 😜 Nancy: Nobody knows all mine Nancy: Work on your excuses for why we can't be together before I see you next, yeah? Rio: Diane's working on it Nancy: She wishes Nancy: I'm not planning on seeing her every week for the rest of my life Rio: 💔 Nancy: That's my reputation, amongst other things so Rio: Gotta keep up appearances, babe Rio: Lord knows we're letting the side down Nancy: Anything for you, my love Rio: 💘 Nancy: You can invite Indie to the spa too, I promise not to seduce her in the sauna or anything Rio: I should hope the fuck not Rio: Not just jealousy talking Nancy: I should hope not Nancy: But I just mean, don't not invite her on my account, you know Rio: Of course Rio: I dunno what she'd make of it but I'll defs invite her Nancy: We might make a convert of her Nancy: The gay agenda Rio: Truly Rio: I just hope your brother is bringing back food she can eat Nancy: He's lived with you guys long enough Nancy: Must have a clue by now Nancy: I know he's a man but he's one with a brain Rio: And tastes that range beyond Maccas but Rio: he does his best, bless him Nancy: 😂 Nancy: I won't tell him if you don't Nancy: Big enough head, like Rio: That I can manage to keep from him, like Rio: Probably Nancy: You went from definitely to maybe so fast I didn't even get to challenge it Nancy: Disgustingly cute Rio: Progress from just plain disgusting Rio: I'll take it Nancy: I mean, you'll always be in hetero hell but Rio: 😏 Rio: I promise, it's not that bad Nancy: um okay sure Nancy: Unlikely story Rio: 😂 Rio: Not gonna make you try it, it's alright Nancy: You couldn't Nancy: We're over the age of sitting around getting dared to kiss Rio: Sure, you're saying that tonight Nancy: I'm saying that every night if you're offering me a man Rio: Suit yaself, butch Nancy: I will Nancy: Your taste is questionable, babe Nancy: Buster McKenna, of all people Rio: I've done considerably worse but that makes the bit less funny so Rio: go off Nancy: Thanks for letting me have my moment there Rio: Gotta get that best man material out somehow Nancy: Oh god Nancy: Am I gonna have to make a speech? Rio: Say what you like Rio: your brother would never hate you that much Nancy: I'll take that Rio: Though if you get pissed Rio: no stopping you Nancy: 🤐 Rio: I hope so, bitch Nancy: I'll have a date to impress/behave for, won't I? So Rio: Good luck 'cos doubt the rest will be on same orders Rio: dread to think 🙄 Nancy: Lord, don't put off the fictional lady before I've even properly thought her up Rio: My bad, my bad Rio: we're all totally sane and respectable Nancy: The numbers alone is intimidating without having to consider any of the personalities attached Nancy: Actually gonna die alone Rio: Not saying keeping it in the family is the way forward but at least I don't have to introduce him Nancy: I just loled Nancy: Won't be explaining that one to my barista Nancy: No offense Rio: Sure the town's already said it's piece on this one Nancy: Undoubtedly Nancy: School is even more fun now, like Rio: Soz Nancy: You really sound it, babe Nancy: I don't care, its not as if I have friends here anyway Nancy: Other than in the family Rio: Well, they'll find a reason to chat shit on us regardless Rio: Always have Nancy: Yeah Nancy: It's no different from my old school other than the accents they use when they slag you off Rio: Basically Rio: It's all the same shit Rio: why you think I left Nancy: I hope that wasn't the only reason Rio: Well no Rio: 'Course not Rio: There was just no reason to be there Nancy: Like Chlo Nancy: Did Buster tell you she left? Rio: Yeah Rio: I'm not secretly pregnant with a baby that's taking it's time though Rio: just FYI Nancy: Me either Nancy: I only kissed her, I swear Nancy: He must be so relieved she's gone though Rio: Yeah, seriously Nancy: I can't believe her and James haven't broken up yet Nancy: I bet he's glad he doesn't have to see as much of her too Rio: Must be a record, right? Rio: Way they all bedhop Rio: Be gladder when the baby's here and he ain't tied to it 24/7 Nancy: 100% they are both cheating Nancy: Well, if anyone will have them Rio: Probably a little hard to pull when you're clearly heavily preggo Nancy: I have no idea how far along she even is Nancy: But the morals in that friendship circle, it wouldn't surprise me if his friends were still hooking up with her Rio: I'm not totally sure myself Rio: bit over half way, I feel? Rio: It's actually gross Rio: like we've all had crossovers but never on purpose like Rio: it's like a weird badge of honour or something idk Rio: posh people love swinging, facts Nancy: But you two are the ones being incestuous, okay Nancy: Everything they do is way grosser Nancy: Buster is well out of it, so thanks Rio: If nothing else Rio: Stopped the likes of Millie Tillie being your sis in law Nancy: Yeah Nancy: He could've been the one having a baby with Chloe Nancy: Imagine Nancy: But don't, 'cause NO Rio: Easily Rio: I try not to, yeah Nancy: Making myself shudder in public Nancy: Thank god he isn't that stupid Rio: She didn't really give him a choice either way Rio: you know he was out of it Nancy: Obviously, but he would have used a condom though that's like muscle memory to him at this point the amount of girls he's been with Rio: If it were that simple no one'd be getting pregnant, babe Nancy: None of his conquests have Nancy: I'll give him that Rio: Shh Rio: Harshing my vibe, babe Nancy: Sorry Rio: S'all good Nancy: You seem happy Nancy: All things considered Rio: I am Rio: with him, like Nancy: And he is too Nancy: I know Rio: Good Rio: What more can I ask for, like Nancy: I'm sorry if I was being a judgey bitch before Nancy: I'm not trying to channel my auntie, honestly Rio: You weren't Rio: like, you were but in a valid way considering Nancy: I'm just trying to look out for you both Nancy: It's weird in the middle Nancy: I know if it was me instead of you, you would too Nancy: But I can't stand in the way, I know that Nancy: And I don't really want to if it's what you both want Nancy: Which obviously Rio: I know that, I swear Rio: You haven't done anything I wouldn't Rio: There's no way to prove this is the right thing but time so Nancy: You'd go way harder than me Nancy: But yeah Rio: Taking it as a compliment Rio: regardless of how it was intended Nancy: It was meant as one Nancy: You're a bad bitch, you know I love that about you Rio: 💘 Rio: You know how to win me 'round Nancy: I'd hope so Nancy: I've been around you long enough Rio: Yeah, no one's accusing me of being mysterious Nancy: Me either, don't worry Rio: Oh to be afforded the luxury Nancy: Let's call it overrated Rio: Seems like a suitably bad bitch thing to do Rio: I'm alright w it Nancy: Good to know Nancy: 'Cause it's a thing now Nancy: We're running with it Rio: Oh, Buster's back Nancy: Tell the prick to text me back Rio: Will do, I'll direct quote you Rio: Better go though, don't wanna let my food go cold Nancy: Thanks Nancy: Yeah sure that's the reason Nancy: I'm gay not blind Rio: You said it, sister 😍 Nancy: I'm not saying he's hot, I'm saying you think so Nancy: Before you go there Nancy: Anyway go Rio: 💋

Brazil's Senate approves nomination of Augusto Aras as chief prosecutor
Tumblr media
Brazil's Senate approved on Wednesday the nomination of Augusto Aras as the country's top public prosecutor. Sixty eight senators voted for his nomination and 10 against.
President Jair Bolsonaro previously said he picked Aras to be prosecutor general because he shares the view that environmental concerns should not get in the way of agricultural development.
Source.
Some info on the guy:
Aras was not in the list of three people appointed by the Public Prosecutor's Office, breaking with an also 20 year old practice that aimed to keep their independence.
He has a PHD on constitutional law and speciality in economic and public law.
He says the Operation Car Wash was important and had many positive things, but that excesses were committed.
He has admitted to signing a letter in favour of "gay conversion" therapy, but says he doesn't believe it, and that marriage, gay or straight, is a contract rather than an institution and he doesn't want to say to anyone that they don't have a family.
He says abortion, same-sex marriage, criminalization of LGBT+phobia, and legalization of marijuana shouldn't be topics of "judicial activism", and instead addressed by the Congress.
"There is no alignment, in the sense of submission, to any of the Powers, but there is, of course, the respect that should govern the relations between the Powers and their institutions." [...] “In the sense that the sacred public interest prevails, that the purpose of the Republic, which is the common good, is always taken into account, independence [between legislative, judiciary, and executive] alone, excluding harmony, can create conflict, and a conflicting state doesn't add up, doesn't win."
"Impersonality must be shown more than ever in the Public Prosecutor's Office, because when we give a prior opinion, before the facts are clarified, we are committing, even for professional vanity, to a result that can be unfair."
“We will not have pretension of members of the Public Prosecutor's Office creating a private foundation to manage public resources. That would be unthinkable. It's a serious dysfunction in the system.”
He doesn't think the Jair Bolsonaro's nomination of his son as USA embassador configures nepotism.
He says sustainable development is a must. He says indigenous people should be able to farm or mine their land reserves.
"I want to be an attorney general with the Constitution in one hand and the Brazilian flag in the other. And if I had a third hand, I would put it on the Bible.”
Aras had had a dinner with leftist Workers' Party members in 2013, which made members of Bolsonaro's party oppose his nomination and the president hesitate. Aras said the dinner doesn't make him pro-Workers' Party. The president of an ally party to Bolsonaro contacted minister of Civil House Onyx Lorenzoni to defend Aras's nomination, saying Aras's wife and daughters were pro-Bolsonaro on their social media during 2018's elections. An ex-deputy who had recommended Aras called Bolsonaro. Bolsonaro asked him if he trusted Aras, and the ex-deputy reassured him he did.
