Losing my goddamn mind that basic databases are hoarding untold information and only doling it out to institutions that are willing to pay their exorbitant prices
I used to be able to access every single freaking newspaper published in America while I was in college. Then I had to get it through the BPL. Then they made it so that you could only access it in-library. Then they unsubscribed. Then my local library took it on. Then THEY unsubscribed. The only library that might have access to this database will not let me in because I am not a resident of the town, even though they allowed me a library card. So now the only way I have access to this database is literally to find a town whose library is dumb enough to pay for it and move there. Otherwise sorry, only people in this zip code have access to this information. Tough titties.
I AM GOING TO GNAW SOMEONE'S KNEECAPS OFF. INFORMATION SHOULD NOT BE GATEKEPT LIKE THIS AND TAKEN AWAY AT A WHIM.

I will be pulling a wild one here
I am shifter before shiftok and shifting tumbler and so on, I was part of the firsts shifting plataforms to ever exist, the work of my friends and colleagues are diluted and changed in many methods the community still using today, or use and not yet know about it.
Shiftok is a lie. It is straight up a lie, more than half of accounts in there are lying, take the big 10 accounts all around the globe and you will see how deeply unsettling and ego blinded these ppl are.
I will share a lil secret to shifting on tumbler, most influencers KNOW that they are talking shit nowadays. The so proclaimed creators of shittok vanglorizes themselves for creating it, but deep down one was a absolute baby shifter and the other one knew her stuff but was caught in drama.
They both are part of the first shifting community ever, started on 2017, they were warned to use their voice to spread information but they decided to blind themselves and continue their fights and dramas.
Besides that, the modern Mainstream Shiftok is around money. TikTok monetizes creators and for these creators to have a base, they need people to watch their videos
Information is freedom, and there is no way to get the proper amount of needed information on shiftok, it is a short video app, we are discussing a experimental practice on reality switching.
Besides that, people now want to make you pay for shifting info, or manifestions courses, and so on
Let me tell a thing that sadly will make sense in the future: Shifting is free, shifting has always been free and those people do not have authority on the matter to even teach it
While the community has been improving, there is a lack on the shifter vanguard, on ACTUAL new stuff and an actual understanding behind shifting. Some people shift by oversimplifying things, others by hard looking into why's and hows, both are valid but they need to correspond to each other. If a community is too complex shifting becomes too hard, if a community is too simple shifting becomes a myth.
That is the state of the community, anyones out there who wants to understand why's and how's can't even find good bases since everything is gatekept and even the so called shifters from shiftok can't even understand it or desire to share it.
Therefore creating a community that is constantly a lie, people tell experiences that don't match when being re-telled and either make sense, many have been spotted doing so. Shifting changes someone, it is a trace marked on their minds forever, to fully shift is to be forever changed. Most people are either LDs or having false awakenings and calling it a day.
Besides all that people are fighting for stupid ideas. Being taboo, race changing was never a topic in our community before it began on shiftok. You know why? Because everyone knew that infinity selfs does not mean that you are equally in all realities, we all playing roles, if I am certain race in my Dr that is not the one I am in this reality, then I won't act like I am part of the minority in this reality.
As for the hypocrisies of these people, most accounts that moved this debate was being xenophobic on Portuguese and Spanish communities.
As an extra information, If you know Sunni Method, you should know that sunni was one of the first shifters (on our understanding of DR, WR and scripting) that created and sourced so many different shifting practices and helped the first gen of the community to understand the practice. She did not only proved shifting to the subliminal communities as well define a work that would be still being used today, the Sunni method is the basic for every method. And she is afro American, and for today terms, she would be changing her race depending on the reality.
For the people that keep making futile problematization on this topic, it shows that you never fully understood shifting and created fake scenarios on your mind to source a point that was never a actual point. Minorities need support on day to day life, not whatever people are believing on determined practice.
tw: mention on self harm
As for respawning, anti-respawing are a bunch of ungrateful. Respawning made the very much bases of modern shifting. And for the respawners that belief that it should end on self harm, you do not understand how respawning work and how delicate are the structured you about to mess. If you are suffering from any mental difficulties, search professional help and not spiritual help that often leads to bad escapism.
Going back
The individual journey of someone starts on the seed planted by the community they find shifting, the hard truth is that shifting isn't only a personal experience but a collective one. In another words the community state you get, is the seed of your journey. Before 2018 people had a hard time shifting because they could not understand what it was, a few years later the community achieved a gold state with sharing knowledge and methods (which the English community would constantly gatekeek to their siblings communities btw) and after the mainstreaming on TikTok shifting went down to a stone age.
People are debating either if they can or cannot do things. In shifting. The. Belief. Of. Infinity.
I can understand why baby shifters do these questions, but I see people on this community since 2020 and the ones from 2019 who end up on the wasteland of other social platforms, asking questions that are so OBVIOUS
You don't need to know everything, but for star sakes you NEED to understand the basics of the thing you are doing, what a script is and how to write one, a few methods and your own cosmological view settled down.
Shifting allows you to mix and match beliefs like a Lego set, do it for your personal journeys using what other have found in the past.
While people are degrating the community and locking good stuff a way, shifting gets every day harder and harder, becoming everytime a godfied event and a hard and thought task that only a few can achieve, that is the mindset that is being grown on the community.
Why the hell the overall community nowadays have less and less actual experiences that the community a few years ago?
For the future, I am not sure but I bet on the end of the practice in a few years, when outsiders "grow out of it". Some will shift, others will just move on with their spiritual journey and so on, the community slowly fading.
I am not here to bring a salvation message, I am so tired, I have been making so much for the last 5 years, trying so hard to archive, share and teach people about shifting, in a way that was forgotten and locked down.
I am permashifting soon, and I am posting what I know on the community where I learned shifting in my native language, this end up more in a vent and a warning to what is happening. Do not believe me if you do not want to.
As for the people that want to understand more, I really recommend for you to dig in the past, a hint is that shifting started on amino. ik it is a bad app but sometimes gems appears. Shifting predecessors (quantum immortality and dimensional jumping) are available on Reddit to be studied (see the archives version of D.J) but they don't fully translate to shifting. (do not use the reality shifting subreddit)
And leave the damned app that is TikTok, you may be laughing for 3 seconds with some random girl talking about draco, but would be way better to be in your dr. why would you let your mind rot?
Shifting is a spiritual practice sourced on scientific facts and theories, both may be fighting a lot but a thing that they have in common is digging stuff, dig and search like never before, the community and it's beliefs are open on the internet, sometimes all you need is to answer a few questions and you will be able to find a good plataform
Your journey will be good no matter what.
Happy shifting.

Non anonymous Tumblr ask I've chosen to make anonymous:
Problem: I've based my sexual identity off of being a bear, but I'm 5'3", young, and not at all bearish. Advice?
As much as I sympathize with the "just so what you want" approach with regard to identity, I would question the extent to which "bear" is an appropriate or useful descriptor here. I don't know what you look like and won't probe, but bears are fat hairy gay men. Some of these factors can give or take--maybe someone's not particularly hairy, maybe they're bisexual, maybe they don't identify with the term man--but the most important factor is body type. Bears can be a wide range of body types (and heights, if that's your concern), and young bears are more likely called cubs, but the descriptor of "big guy" should plausibly apply.
Bears exist as a community and not just a body type because fatness is rejected in the gay community and the world at large. There are specific bear events and bear-friendly bars for this reason, and part of that is for bears to seek other bears. I will say though that while bear identity is gatekept on these terms, bear friendly events are less so. If you respect the vision of the space and the people in it, that's what matters. There was a bear convention in my area a few weeks ago, and while I did not attend one of the organizers was passing out info cards and encouraged me to go even as a skinny guy. I'm generally going to enjoy a bar or a party more if people there have a wide range of body types. The vibe is just going to be more welcoming overall, and plus bears are hot. I see you're 19 so unfortunately the bar life is still out of reach if you're from the US. But if that's the case, there's a lot to look forward to.
So maybe you're not a big guy, or maybe you are but don't fit the beefy macho image often associated with bears. That doesn't mean you can't seek out their company or appreciate the vision. If you really are "not at all bearish" but your identity hinges on being a bear, I'd ask what the category means to you and what you associate with bears. Body and facial hair? A sort of warm, approachable masculinity? Sex? Brotherhood? Bar culture? Geek culture? Flannel? Hugs? Because if you relate to bears and they inform your sense of self, that should be fine even if the shoe doesn't fit.

If you read Xem's post, you will see that she states you should know the basics about that animal before confirming it. You should know that a wolf is a canine that is a pack hunter that lives mostly in the northern hemisphere. That they howl and usually hunt deer or some deer relative. The have fur and are pursuit predators. Those are the basics. No one except you and your friends said you're only a real wolf therian if you can name top ten unusual facts about wolves. How can someone confirm a wolf if they do not know what a wolf is? You yourself said that you differ from wild wolf behaviours. So you know you're not a wild wolf because of that. But twist words and play the victim I guess.
The OP claimed, very blatantly, that if you make a mistake about some species fact that someone else considers "basic knowledge" then they shouldn't be allowed to identify as that species anymore and should be gatekept from the label. Said basic knowledge included very common and easy-to-make mistakes. Someone can identify as a hyena without knowing at first they are feliforms and not caniforms, the OP said that they can't. Someone can identify as a wolfdog or a leopard, and mistake a wolfdog for a husky mix or a jaguar for a leopard in a photo. That happens, they can look very similar to each other. Idk how to explain that a hyena looks like a dog(canine), just like a thylacine looks like a dog. You can go most of your life before finding out the former is related to cats and the latter is related to kangaroos. You can put a leopard and a jaguar next to each other and it is difficult as hell to tell the difference a lot of times. Not all wolfdogs look like wolves, some just look like dogs especially if they're low content. Some dogs just look like wolfdogs or wolves without being wolf hybrids. See: the pile of movies and shows with "wolves" in it (it's wolf-like dogs being casted as wolves, lots of people don't notice). It's not common knowledge, it's fun facts you might stumble across in a "10 Things You Didn't Know About These Strange Animals" YouTube compilation at 3am.
The OP was stating very clearly that your identity becomes invalid the moment you fail a game of spot-the-difference. The OP post is capped off with:
"So yeah. You should know a lot about the animal you claim to be. If not? Don’t claim it."
I'm gonna be blunt that the OP had one of the most rancid takes I'd seen in a while. Knowing the creature exists was not stated anywhere in the post to be enough, you have to "know a lot".
Someone might not know that animal's realistic behaviors, or where they all live geologically, or what all of their body language means. Someone can know their theriotype before they figure out that later stuff, it's happened all the time and continues to happen. This also isn't covering non-earthly animal identities and how you can't even do ecological research on those. Someone can't go on wikipedia and read up on the ecology of their specific dragon species that has zero record of ever existing. Plenty of those with non-earthly animal identities are not less real as a result, it is an absolute buckwild take that earthly animal identities are somehow different with a higher bar of entry. That's not even mentioning people that identify as earthly animals with unrealistic ecology, because that's also a thing.
For the second part of your ask, I'm guessing you're referring to this recent one. You missed this entire chunk of the post:
"...I do not know most things about wolves off the top of my head. Don't ask me anything about wolf ecology outside the bare basics, I couldn't tell you. When I was really young I thought my nonhuman identity was a dog until one day I had the epiphany that I was actually a wolf. I didn't have to bury my head in research to figure that out, I just knew for not much reason. Any information on wolves I know today is stuff I picked up here and there over the years, independent of my identity"
To condense all of that into something shorter: I just knew I was a wolf before I knew much of anything about wolves. I didn't know I wasn't a wild wolf because I know a lot about wild wolf behavior. I genuinely don't know how that conclusion was drawn after reading that.
"Wolves are canines that live in packs and eat deer" isn't research, that's "I watched a movie once that had wolves in it", which is honestly the extent of what a lot of people know about wolves unless they're invested or something. That's not enough according to the OP, and if that's not what was meant then the entirety of the post was worded extremely poorly.
And this last part isn't related to anon, but I've seen a lot of responses since yesterday about "but why is research bad"? No one has said that it was, and I scroll the alterhuman tags almost daily. That's not something people are arguing. The point isn't "research bad, grr learning about animals sucks", the point is that this discourse is old. Like, old as hell. We're not gatekeeping nonhuman identities based on if you "know a lot" going in. We're not going to claim someone isn't a "real therian" if they get one thing wrong about their theriotype.
Let's say that someone is a leopard therian and posts a picture of a jaguar in some moodboard or something. You know the decent thing to do? You might let them know one of the photos is actually a jaguar, which will usually get you a "oh huh, thanks. didn't catch that". At no point do you suddenly have imply they aren't a "real" leopard therian. You can ask if they've maybe considered jaguars, but they are fully able to respond "yeah but no, I'm a leopard". And that's fine. Someone can be a hyena therian, accidentally say that hyenas are canines. It is absolutely fine and possible to say that hyenas are feliforms without pointing fingers and going "you're not a real hyena, because real hyenas would've known that already".
It's not 2012 anymore, we've grown past this. It is the strangest thing ever to see in the year two-thousand-twenty-four.

AITA for getting mad at my roommates?
A while ago I had to move out of my college apartment due to disagreements with the roommates. I was told I was ignoring boundaries and ignoring their stuff, cited as disagreeable in remediation meetings, and also told my disability was “not able to be accommodated” despite the fact theirs all were.
When I moved in, our roommate agreement as per signed by the university said the kitchen and the dishes within the kitchen were all communal property, and could be used by anyone with permission. It was also stated in the same agreement that responsibility for the management of personal items was one’s own responsibility, IE it was your job to inform someone else if something within the kitchen came with special instructions, or if it should not handle something that the person may be allergic to, like nuts or milk. This was a big deal at our university because someone had died a few years ago from a peanut allergy after their roommate ate peanut butter from some utensils which were not washed properly, and sued the university as a result.
I went on to take these rules as they were written, because I come from a similar culture where the kitchen is a communal space and what is in it is considered as belonging to everyone. I ended up using many of my roommates’ pots and utensils because I was poor and could not afford the same things they had, always with permission and always cleaning up after.
After a while, I ended up being informed by one of my roommates (I had 3) that I was “destroying” one of her pans because I had put it in the dishwasher and it was an “heirloom” from her grandmother. I had asked her multiple times if it was okay, and she always said yes, and the complaint was about that she had mistakenly told me yes and never intended for me to use that. She said I was destroying her property and not taking care of it, even though the pan said dishwasher safe on the bottom in extremely faded letters and i saw no signs of damage whatsoever.
Fast forward a few months, and the rest of my roommates are taking her side. One of them was someone I actually shared a bathroom with, who ended up screaming at me in a hissy fit over me having left two (2) actual literal hairs in the drain. Like not two clumps of hair, but two hairs. I cleaned up the drain every time, but she continued to yell at me for being so “dirty” and “uncivilized”, and the other roommates began joining in on this too.
Everything eventually escalated into arguments because I did not want to take what they were saying lying down. I told them very plainly what the roommate agreement was that we all signed to, and they all told me it was null and void and that they would be changing the terms of it extremely shortly. I told them that this was unfair and that the kitchen should be a common space that is shared, and not gatekept, and that they have a duty to uphold that as we all lived in the same space and managed the same things.
They called me selfish, and said I had no sense of respect for others or responsibility for my actions. Eventually they took this to the RA who told me since I signed the lease last, I would eventually have to leave if everything was not settled. We tried many mediations and many things to settle our differences, but I just kept getting called selfish for explaining where I came from and the cultural differences between me and them and they just kept calling me selfish and destructive.
Am I really the asshole here? It was the first time I’ve ever felt unsafe sharing a space with other people.
What are these acronyms?

The people who insist that you have to be anti-endo/cannot be pro-endo or even neutral in order to access CDD resources, be those informational posts or discord servers or communities or anything else, are part of the problem of making it really hard to even separate CDDs from plurality as a concept. The more you double down on making these resources inaccessible to others with a CDD who have a different opinion from you on endogenic plurality, the more you conflate that endogenic plurality and CDDs are tied to each other.
Like, if your point is to curate a space for *yourself* where *you* feel safe and comfortable, that's one thing. But if you're out there making "communities" and "resource posts" and the like for the wider public, these things absolutely should not be gatekept. If specific individuals are in these spaces spreading harm and misinformation, then sure I understand wanting to keep other safe from people like that. But someone having a pro-endo stance and not even necessarily advertising that or not even engaging in conversation about endogenic plurality shouldn't be kept from CDD spaces.

please do inform us on what the family tree is :D and also how you came to be one family. i am very curious
Sit down or lay down and relax cause i am gonna tell you the whole entire story, of when i joined goon central up until now.
It was a fun afternoon (February 12 to be exact 🤓) i had family over and we were eating dinner and I got a message from @keervah asking if i wanted to be apart of the discord. when i saw that message my heart started racing 😰but I couldn't open Tumblr in front of my family 😓so I decided to open keers message later on, When i got home i knew i had to answer keer and so i did, I was so surprised they wanted me to join because tbh I've been eyeing them for a while, and I had already talked with keer beforehand on one of my older posts. But i was shocked and from then on Keer sent me the link and I joined.
Guys, i was so shy and nervous at first. My hands were shaking because i hadn't made online friends in over 2 years. But when i joined everyone greeted me warmly, I felt awkward at times since i was new, but as time passed and as I joined their banters i grew more comfortable and finally showed my true and crazy self. @jade-jini was the other person who wanted me to join alongside with keer and without the two of them requesting for me to join I would have never met anyone in Goon Central🥹.
As time past and our banter in the group chat grew i took note of everyone how they act, how they typed, and what their humor is like. (which thank godddd is similar to mine). I would always asked them questions about my nails and what I should do next and sent a hand reveal in the GC (lol) which from what I remembered, I had a couple of people going crazy over my hand 😅. That is where @kittyl1z came to be and simped over my hands (sorry for outing you Sienna) Sienna became a simp and had Jade gatekeep me from her. (Jade is a MAJOR gatekeeper yalls) She gatekept Sienna and i from eachother as Sienna kept trying to flirt her way to me.
Then out pops @lilacura, Lila and I bonded over nails and she helped me decide what to do ( white French tips 😎). Lila and I bonded so hard (??? why does this sound weird) that we took it to DMS and started talking nonsense. Then literally the next day we all decided to do a face reveal on the server. things went kindaaaaa crazy in there during that time. Soon enough i had two girls (Lila and Sienna) (Jade was still gatekeeping) fighting over me😰 and omg let me tell you I was so confused as to what was happening but of course, i went along with it ( for the plot) there were many banters between Lila and sienna.
Which eventually created a love triangle, mainlyyy since I was chatting up both of them 😗 at the same time (I know very messy of me). There were many banters, name calling, disapointment, and heart break through out this whole love triangle, but then Lila and i got married one random afternoon. How that lead up was that i teased that we should get married and she was like we're already married but i had no ring on my finger 🤨 so i was like wheres the ring????🤨then she proposed, then boom married. While sienna was being so sweet talking with me and all i did was break her heart 😔 (So sorry sienna).
Then news broke out through out goon central, then jade became Lila and I's daughter and since jade and Keer were twins 👯we had two daughters!! while trying to adopt keer and jade it TURNS OUTTTTT THEY WERE ALREADY TAKEN BY SOL @myouicieloz AND V @vlance (LIKE WTF) BUT IT ALSO TURNS OUT I BIRTH JADE(???) AND LILA BIRTH KEER (???) AND SOL IS MY SISTER! SINCE SOL IS MARRIED TO VLANCE THEY BOTH ADOPTED KEER AND JADE WAYYYYYY BFORE LILA AND I JOINED THE SERVER, THEN ONCE WE JOINED THE SERVER JADE WAS LIKE "MINE 👹" TO LILA AND I.
But we agreed to be her and keers birth parents 🤗 so, to sum up Lila and I are coparenting with Sol and Vlance 😇 Then jade is dating Kaye @wintersera and they have like 5 kids AND JADE WANTS MOREEEEEEE LIKE GIRL STOP BEFORE I NEUTER YOU!!!!🤨🤨 but everyday is an adventure and filled with love (lol) we banter and Im still as close as ever with sienna ( She still filrts with me till this day even tho she told me not to tell lila) 😊 ( im laughing writing this part 💀) Everything is great fun and fresh 😝 i have the LOML and kids and we also welcomed a new member, Lila and I's baby boy Bartholomew aka bart that mews aka bart, welcome him to the fam!
Tumblr media
Isn’t he precious 😊🥰🥰🥰
Jade and keer hates him 😪
but yes that practically what happened and the general family tree ( i still have no idea what this family tree is ) I gave you guys information yet no information at all since i kinda dont remember sorry its a mess like my brain atm but just know there was a lot of random banters throughout the server lol but it got us here today I hope you guys enjoyed this random story and not a ff LMFAOOOOO.

There are way too many miserable people on social media like "I hate Women, they're a scourge on the Queer writing world and ruin gay media with their nasty woman hands"
[The next day:]
"I have been informed that OP is nonbinary / a trans man and would like to apologize🥺”
“However, even though they're not a straight woman that doesn't excuse writing like a woman. Do you see? Women are so cursed and terrible that they have tainted how everyone else writes these stories; we must protect what is sacred by not letting queer ppl write like straight women! Therefore stories should be policed and gatekept based on how I personally think they fulfill the nebulous obligations of 'Good Representation,' even in fics. This is fun, right? Everyone's having fun writing to my standards"
I don’t want sanitized and uniformed stories, thank you very much. Also I’m begging these people to stop getting their arguments/way of thinking from TERFs
yeah :/

with regards to the #smallsimblrstaurday shoutout post, the tag is self-explanatory and yet you mentioned some popular ones? I don't get it. and someone's already hurting because of that post of yours just wanted to inform you in case you care
The Small in Small Simblr Saturday was referring to the term Small Business Saturday ( the shopping day that follows Black Friday and precedes Cyber Monday, it’s a play on words ) it wasn’t in regards to how big or small a simblr is, the only requirement was that they offer always free cc, which was the actual point of the event. I only created it so people could send some tips, or love and appreciation to creators that don’t do early access.
The title of my shout out post literally reads “s/o to a few of” ( meaning NOT ALL ), and I put at the bottom that I probably forgot to mention some people, I think I even tagged it with “might add more as I remember”, so if anyone didn’t feel included it wasn’t intentional, and doesn’t mean you’re not valid.
So I’m sorry if anyone felt left out, but also believe it or not, I don’t know everybody here, nor should I, or anybody be expected to esp when a lot of us got a million other things to do that isn’t just simblr ( which reminder I don’t just post sims btw ) but also EVERYONE WAS ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE. This wasn’t some gatekept event, but somehow only I and like two other people in sims 3 simblr even bothered to post about it? There was a full on list of stuff on the event post that anybody could’ve done, including creators themselves, with and without money to donate, to show their support to their own favorite creators, so where was it? Where were you? Why are we gonna invalidate the support others got, bc you or someone else didn’t get @-ed?
Now you can assume whatever you want of me, I couldn’t care less, seriously, you wouldn’t be the first, but you’re the one who came into my inbox with an attitude, thinking you could start some drama over a clear misunderstanding, and it’s obvious you already made up your mind about me, but I got better things to do than change the mind of someone who isn’t even brave enough to do this off anon.

Hello and Welcome!
Hello! My name is Rowan. This is my blog dedicated to anthropological research on the alterhuman community. As this is intended to be a pinned introduction post, it will be a bit long. For that reason, most of the post is under a readmore, excepting the current surveys list.
Current alterhuman surveys:
None at this time. Soon!
A bit about me:
I am a cultural anthropologist and folklorist by training. I hold a master's degree in cultural anthropology.
I am the host of a plural system.
I have been a part of the alterhuman community since 2007, though I was inactive for several years. I identify as therian, otherkin, and otherkith.
A bit about my research:
I am only just beginning to research the alterhuman community from an academic perspective.
Because of the lack of consolidated data on the community, I am following the lead of several other researchers in running community surveys.
I am researching with an eye towards scholarly publication. My objective is to provide a resource for those both inside and outside the community who seek in good faith to understand us.
Who is welcome here:
The short answer is everyone. Because this blog was created for the express purpose of conducting research, I do not have any rules about who can or cannot follow or interact with this blog. I don't believe access to information should be gatekept and I believe that all folks who are part of a community should be seen.
There are, however, some things to know about me before you follow this blog.
I support all good faith alterhuman identities. This includes otherkin of all stripes, therians, nonhumans, transspecies folks, endels, fictionkin, factkin, otherhearts/otherkith, otherlinkers, and plural systems, as well as any others I've not listed. And there would always be others, no matter how long this list got.
I support systems of all origins. The brain is incredibly complex and it is not my place to tell anyone else what is happening in their own head. Besides which, not all plural folks even believe their systems to be psychological in origin. It is not my place to gatekeep their experiences. This blog is therefore endo and willo safe.
I will block those who target the alterhuman community. If you are here looking for beings to harass or attack, I will block you for my own safety and the safety of the communities I work with.
This blog is largely apolitical. While I as an individual do have very strongly held political views, I do not believe my personal politics should impact my research. (This point is why I'm not running this from my personal Tumblr.)
That said, I am opposed to ideologies that promote harm. This would include the typical things like racism, sexism, transphobia, and antisemitism, but also things such as being pro-contact for nonconsensual paraphilias. This is not an exhaustive list. I am also, for the same reason, against harassment. Harassing me or anyone else on this blog is a surefire way to get yourself blocked.
Ways to interact:
Surveys! I will be running surveys on the community. If you are over the age of majority for your country (18, if you're in the US), I strongly encourage you to participate in those. Feel free to share them, too! Here on Tumblr as well as on other sites.
Questions. I welcome these. And unlike surveys, the results of which are intended to eventually be synthesized into published articles, there is not an age requirement for this. If you have a question about an alterhuman topic, please feel free to ask. I will do my best to either answer it or suggest where to find the information you're looking for. I am also more than happy to answer questions about anthropology and folklore. The problem there may be getting me to shut up, as these are topics I love discussing. And you're welcome to ask me questions about my own alterhuman identities or non-alterhuman research. Please do understand, though, that I may decline to answer these types of questions if I feel they may pose a threat to my safety.
Reblogging. Yes, please do. We are, after all, on the rebageling website. (Why yes, I do miss the xkit extension that turned everything into bread. Hi, I've been here since the dawn of time.)
Comments. I welcome comments on my posts. However, I do reserve the right to remove hateful or threatening comments.
You've finally reached the bottom of the post! Thank you for taking the time to read all of that! I hope to hear from you!

I just wanna say, DUDE. The majority of what I know about amrev comes from your blog. Your in-depth posts literally have me FOAMING AT THE MOUTHH I don't have much time to read longer books due to school but I wanna feed my obsession so do you have any books on the shorter side or some websites/archives I can research/read a bit quicker? If not it's totally fine.
Also off topic but I'm loving "It Began About Dusk" on AO3 <3
OH MY GOD THE FLATTERY‼️‼️‼️ you’re making me blush here anon. im so glad that you find my posts helpful!!! AND IM SO GLAD YOU LIKE MY FICS i have a chapter of it began about dusk in the drafts rn so you’ll get more content soon
now this is a tricky question because im absolutely insane and ive barely ever read short books. right now im reading His Excellency by Joseph J Ellis and i recommend it!! its only around 2-300 pages which is the shortest history book ive got VSJWBW primary sources can be really good to get in book form, things like Common Sense by Thomas Paine, Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior (Washington’s rule book), and Memoir of Lieut. Col. Tench Tilghman, Secretary and aid to Washington are all primary sources i have on my shelf that are short and sweet.
i also have Hercules Mulligan by Micheal J. Obrien which i haven’t read but is VERY small. there is also James Monroe by Gary Hart which is short but i have not finished (i dont even truly remember reading it but i annotated part of it apparently), The Drillmaster of Valley Forge by Paul Lockhart is a little longer than those others, but still isn’t chernow levels of wrong, but i also haven’t read that one. Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates by Brian Kilmeade and Don Yaeger isn’t the most serious history book, but it is pretty good and an easy read.
as for secondary source websites, start with encyclopedias ie Britannica, which post short articles on different historical figures and events that give you the overview. from there im gonna point you to the National Park Service. this is the best thing the US government has ever made for researchers. this is all your battlefields, winter encampments, historical reproductions, and former capitals. also check out private residences turned museums, such as Mount Vernon, Monticello, and Schuyler Mansion. these institutions have an abundance of easily accessible information on more than just the people who lived there.
now the Library of Congress was a good decision on Jefferson’s part, but it can be inaccessible if you don’t know how to use it well because their website is one of my least favorite things about being alive. so instead, i recommend using Founders Online for any primary source regarding the founding fathers or amrev figures. the Washington Papers are filled to the brim with almost everything that went out of headquarters during all 8 years of the war. founders online is the shit
all of these websites i’ve mentioned are free to access, because i do not pay money on any research tools besides books out of spite for late stage capitalism. also any primary source is 100% accessible online. that includes memoirs and court transcripts, which can be very helpful
also i really do recommend watching documentaries and informational videos on the subjects you’re interested in while doing work or other things if you’re someone who does that (ik some people don’t have background noise but im just assuming you’re as neurodivergent as i am) because you can absorb just a little of that information and it being about a subject of interest can make academics seem a little less miserable!
i hope this is helpful and if you have absolutely any further questions, feel free to ask. i know im very privileged to have the time and resources to read long ass books, which is why i very freely share the information i absorb with the public bc i believe education should never be gatekept by anyone. so if you have any questions, im happy to research them for you, or at least point you in the right direction. love ya!!

so far, all the support i've been seeing for here lies love on tiktok, twitter, and reddit have ALL been written by non-native filipinos, which infuriates me.
all these posts are the same, saying that the show does not glamorize imelda and that they and their families walk out of the theater disliking her. sure, okay, that's good! but not everything is ABOUT you, fucking twats. a lot of native filipinos (and a good few informed fil-ams!) have multiple problems with this musical that specifically affect us, and nobody is fucking listening. while this does not comprise all filipino americans, i am very fucking pissed that a good portion of fil-ams have been the ones most vocal about supporting this musical, using their filipino title as a means of merit.
but i've got news for you bud: the problems with here lies love more directly affect native filipinos. i'm not saying that fil-ams cannot be affected by issues in the philippines, but i'm saying that. the priority of opinion SHOULD be given to NATIVE FILIPINOS. we are the ones under the marcos regime, we are the ones living in the damages he placed in our systems. when WE tell YOU that this musical can be dangerous propaganda, unintentional or not, then LISTEN TO US.
what americans understand of disinformation campaigns is NOTHING compared to the philippines. i have learned in my history class last semester that other countries are using us as their standard for disinformation. my country is a cesspool of gatekept education, internet manipulation, and fraud. when i say that it is dangerous for a musical like this to exist, i mean it. people can use it here to promote the marcoses (who are still in power!). it is DANGEROUS.

I saw your post about talking to anti-endos as an endogenic system and I agree, my system is endogenic and we've managed to de-radicalize people by talking to them
but on the other hand that's maybe 20% of the systems we talk to, which is still a lot, but we dissociate. people telling us we don't exist is a huge dissociation trigger, and a lot of the times people won't listen when we try to explain our experiences. we can't really be doing that all the time.
the thing is also we are trying to communicate information. we post about our experiences all the time and we see other systems doing it too, but it doesn't do anything for anti-endos.
like I get the sentiment, but systems like you also need to be uplifting endogenic systems and treating us as people. I just want to be treated as human, and be able to get resources for my trauma and trauma disorder without being gatekept because the trauma happened after the system.
Tumblr media
I feel as though the majority of anti-endos I’ve spoken to have changed beliefs. I don’t want to put a statistic on it, because my goal in sharing my personal experiences isn’t to change minds. My goal is to share my personal experiences and maybe help someone recover that way.
I’m not sure where I haven’t uplifted Endogenic voices or treated them as inhuman. It’s actually kinda my whole thing, “everyone deserves respect regardless of anything else” yada yada.
I agree, you should be treated better. I hope you can get those resources.

(Ableism warning)
To add to that community thing- I've been seeing people advocating to remove psychiatry as an institution wholesale and have "the community" provide diagnosis and treatment instead. All great in theory, the psychiatric field has a ton of problems- until you remember how "the community" treats people who talk to themselves on the street and gesture emphatically at nothing. "Those people shouldn't be let out in public," is the nice and polite version of what "the community" considers proper treatment of these individuals. At least a psychiatrist understands it's an illness and should be treated as such. The only thing separating me from those on the street arguing with their hallucinations is luck, and well trained medical intervention. The number of average people who hate those of us showing symptoms of psychosis, OCD, autism, and emotional disregulation etc. is much too high to trust our vulnerabilities to someone with no training.
(post) (bonus related post I also like)
Yeah, like!
I consider myself at least somewhat anti-psych. Because the institution is shit and I hate everything about how it is constructed. But the issue a lot, is strict categorization and the ways it makes abuse so easy. The ways being misdiagnosed can make your life hell. The way diagnosis is gatekept so intensely.
All accessibility tools should be available to everyone, and people should be free to find what makes their life easier. Like, in the informed-consent way. That's a side-tangent to all this but I just think that a lot of the structures of power cause harm and the way disorders are tied into one's ability to function while appearing neurotypical is bullshit. That's what I mean. It creates such a divide between people who "can" function and people who "can't" and doesn't allow for space in-between or for people to be complex.
But yeah. Like. No one's life should be left to the whims of a community whose good-will can run out, whose issues can isolate someone from that support group. That doesn't protect people.
Instead, it leads to issues like you mentioned. People who don't know how to help can make things worse, and many people's first instincts are "well why are you acting like that in public?"
Instead, because no community can ever be perfect, reliance on the community leads to discrimination, bigotry, and people being hurt and judged because a community will always end up with at least some people who are deemed "outside" that group.
We need systematic support that cannot be revoked.

(major questioner here who mostly is just Generally Confused about everything happening in my brain) it really sucks how much overlap it feels like stuff has. oh do i just have c-ptsd? do i have a personality disorder? do i have partial did? is my feeling that me and my past self are two separate people my brain being literal or just some kind of weird brain metaphor? i dont know! its all so confusing @_@
oof, it really can be a struggle learning exactly what mental illness(es) you’re struggling with. we’re so lucky we just happened to find our therapist, who has been so helpful for us with figuring this out.
something he says often that’s really helped us is “our goal to treat the symptoms - that’s more important than trying attribute symptoms to certain disorders.”
so for us, we use the resources that help, be them for did, osdd, c-ptsd, personality disorders, or other disorders where trauma regularly plays a role. trauma is trauma, and recovery resources should never be gatekept.
we don’t have many general trauma and recovery resources on hand (if you feel like trauma may play a role in what you’re going through) but a lot of the resources in the cdd section of our resource post for questioning systems may be useful!
there’s no harm in learning about any disorder you feel might affect you, and using resources for each even if you never are diagnosed with them. we know that figuring this stuff out is often incredibly difficult (especially on your own!) but we wish you the very best on this journey! idk how much more help we could provide, but let us know if there’s anything else we can do!
