I haven't read any yet but I'm a little nervous about reading IDW Optimus. I like it when Optimus prime is "strong enough to be kind" and from what I've heard, everyone's an asshole to each other in idw. If I'm way off base please let me know, I hear the comics are good but I'm not interested in an Optimus that's mean and miserable. I resent the idea that misery has greater artistic merit than joy.

I mean, I'd say don't trust what the fandom says about the comics (or any media for any fandom in general tbh) because the majority of the time they're wrong.

I'm an IDW Optimus apologist so I'm a little biased, but I genuinely think that most of the story moments people call him "an asshole" over are moments that make 1000% sense when you read them in context. Like, people act like Optimus is just a jerk that goes around being mean to people for no reason when the reality is that when he's frustrated, angry, lashes out, or distant from other people, it makes perfect sense as to why??? IDW Optimus is still a noble person that believes in mercy, gives people second chances, and thinks that treating people like people is better than ending them because it's more convenient. It's just that in IDW he's more than just a noble hero icon, he's also a human that sometimes runs out of patience and snaps at people, or makes mistakes that he can't take back.

When IDW OP lashes out at people, it's not because he's a meanie jerk >:((( or whatever the fuck haters think, it's because he's incredibly idealistic and has high moral standards, and when people/the world don't measure up to them he gets frustrated. In other words, he's so passionate about doing something, about trying to help, that that passion can turn into frustration when things aren't going well. It's the fact that his virtues can be both a virtue and a flaw depending on the situation that makes him feel like the most interesting OP to me.

Also, IDW is a realistic and gritty continuity, embroiled in politics and conflict that leaves no one untouched. and Optimus is in a position of power over an army. I think it's really stupid to expect the commander of an army who gets into politics afterwards to be a squeaky clean hero who does nothing wrong and everyone likes him.

And also also, almost every single complaint I hear about IDW OP either takes his actions completely out of context or just straight up gets basic story facts wrong lmao. Like people will call him an asshole for punching Prowl when what Prowl actually did to get punched was using Devastator to try to destroy a space bridge despite knowing it would lead to the death of an entire Cybertronian colony. People call IDW OP an asshole for "not letting the Dynobots leave the planet" in Monstrosity when actually OP was the one telling them that he would help find a cure for their beastial forms, and when they decided to leave Cybertron anyways, he didn't stop them. People even get mad at him for making Megatron give a speech telling the Decepticons to stop fighting, even though Optimus was already being ridiculously lenient by letting Megatron on parole to be co-captain of the Lost Light!

The main reason people hate IDW Optimus is because they just cherrypick his worst moments without including the context and they ignore his good moments in the story. And also instead of accepting that IDW OP is his own version of Optimus that can be interesting if you give him a chance, they basically hate him for not being a cardboard cutout of a meek depressed uwu Optimus/a silly funny stupid dad character.

Ahem...

Optimus apologism aside, I would really, really just ignore what people say about everyone being assholes in IDW1. Just because a lot of the subject matter is dark doesn't mean that the story says that nothing in life matters and people suck-- far from it. Even Barber (whose writing I think is mediocre and shittily executed), who constantly writes Optimus being shit on, still gives him moments where he's allowed to be the hero that chooses peace and reconciliation. Not to mention how if you look at MTMTE/LL, those stories are more or less fundamentally about the power of relationships/friendship/love between people.

Anyways, fuck what the haters say, send me more asks about IDW Optimus so I can gush about his underappreciated moments of heroism and be an apologist for him whenever he acts like a jerk is a human person with flaws and virtues just like every other character in the continuity.

BODY - unnamed post-apoc original fiction

“History is always happening, Archivist Bookreader.” She folds her hands together and leans forward. “And I personally hold tradition that demands blood sacrifice of its children in rather low regard.” Your friends and their babies, your mother in her sickbed, your grandmother drunk in the kitchen. Hope, trembling on the front step, covered in her new husband’s blood and too stunned to speak. The first boy you killed, a nineteen year old prisoner who struck his captor and had to die for it. The Killing South, moving in your body, the Killing East in Isabella’s, the Killing North in another Nameless, the West in some new Democrat prisoner who held his knife like a butcher and not an entertainer. Conway and his missing right hand, replaced with a hook that can’t hold a gun anymore. Sam and her forehead brand. Marta and the children she’s delivered from their parents’ arms into the orphanages to be raised as fodder for war or sport or a body in the field.

Panel 1 - Hurricane Slim standing in the doorway to a little office room off the gymnasium. The space is small, with only a bed, desk, and low dresser for furniture. There’s a 6’ ladder leaned against a wall, though, and the walls are covered in intricate, detailed paintings of a yellowjacket from all angles, no unified direction of the paintings. TQ sitting on the floor, on a rug, with her back to the door. She was meditating, or something like it, before Hurricane Slim showed up. 

Hurricane Slim: It’s a gestalt. 

Hurricane Slim: That’s why it was familiar.

TIME - unnamed post-apoc original fiction

She locks the door behind them, tucks the key on its long chain into her shirt. Plectus leads the way down the street, with Telesphore right behind him, chatting about baby milestones, herself behind those two, and Sam bringing up the rear.

“You trust her?” Sam asks, quietly, as they take the slow curve out of the neighborhood.

“We fucked around a little when we were younger,” she agrees. “And she’s got a baby.”

“Boss.” Sam reaches out, and puts one hand on her shoulder, and squeezes. She glances over, and Sam isn’t looking at her. “How long ago were you two fucking around?”

“Twelve years,” she replies. It feels stupid, now that Sam asks. They said it to each other last night, twelve years, a baby, an annexation, a coup. An unnaming. A warning to be careful.

“Fucked around with a lot of people twelve years ago that I wouldn’t give the time of day now,” Sam says, evenly. Sam’s hand is still on her shoulder. “I know you think you need all the help you can get, but throwing your lot in with just anyone you fucked when you were a teenager ain’t a great idea.”

Hellven Updates | March

Hello! I finished my personal project! It was a 500pg book I managed to get printed and shipped to me. I'm not going to be sharing the actual content since It's pretty rough as my first try at a novel fic thing, but I'll show the hardback whenever I do get it in the mail.

But this means I've been focusing all my worktime to Hellven! I'm almost done with the 20 sets, dear gods has it taken forever to get them in order. Here's some previews of the rough non-render models.

As for Hellven itself I have - 16 chapters, 300 pages with 2/16 chapters reedited. A major change to Hellven is it's not longer an extended script, but a fully illustrated novel. So there's some heavy rewrites to incorporate the dialogue into the descriptions. For reference I expect Book One to be about 20 chapters long.

Here's a WIP of the prologue.

So things are going well on that front. I don't have an exact release date atm, I work 2 jobs and it can be tough sometimes to find the time for projects like this. But progress has been going well, my work is pretty flexible. I'm confident in my ability to finish this, I mean already finished a novel whats another one!

Aside from that in between my free-time, I'll continue to doodle BG3 stuff, self-indulgent and whatever. So if you like shitty vampire, awesome- me too!

I did want to say how happy I am about Hellven. I never really considered doing novels before, only comics. But finishing a story through comics or animations seemed like a impossible task. So when I actually finished my first novel, I realized I could do this. I could tell a complete story. It's not gonna be perfect, hell, it might not even make sense. But honestly, I don't care, I just want to be able to finish something.

So thanks for embarking on this journey with me :)

WIP TITLES

So I'm kind of cheating a bit with my choices here I guess since I have a lot of ideas but not so many actual active WiPs. So some of these aren't actually stuff that has been posted (or not posted in fic form) but they're all what my rodent brain is rotating right now.

Bell the Cat - Ladyblanc Knight AU. Enemies to Reluctant Allies to Lovers. Plenty of angst and trauma to be had in this one!

2. Sad Machine - Not currently available. I'm attempting aiming to have the fic more or less completed before I start posting. Futurist/Cyberpunk-type AU. No Miraculous but there's a dash of vigilantism and mysterious happenings to solve. And some questionable ethics (thanks Gabe).

3. Porceline Girl - Emonette and Badrien (post Paris Special) Oneshot that I'm hoping to finish soon. They're just angsty teens trying to figure out what is love how to be around each other.

4. Kaleidoscope - (not currently a posted fic so link leads to my tumblr tag) Kwami Swap AU with a dose of amnesia! Love Square is a mess in this with a Reunioned Ghostbug trying to solve all the problems. Adrien needs a coffee and a nap. Tikki needs a drink.

5. Citrus and Lavender - Enemies to Lovers AU with Chat Noir being deceived into being on Hawk Moth's side from the very beginning. The kids need therapy and Gabriel needs jail.

UPCOMING

There's is so much I'm looking forward to with Bell the Cat, but with the upcoming chapters I'm excited about introducing some more characters into this world! And of course all the Ladyblanc banter to be had!

2. This is my little pet project at the moment that I am slow roasting in the microwave. There are so many things that I am foaming at the mouth for that I want to just spit the fic out onto ao3 already but I'm trying to go slow with this one.

3. I'm just excited to feed myself more Toxigriffe, even if its in Adrinette form. I have so many ideas for these two but this oneshot is the closest to being finished. I'm excited to have it done (soon! hopefully!)!

4. Another one that's been slow roasting for a bit. I'll admit I'm still undecided with how I want to post this - do I go full fanfic on ao3 with it? Or a webcomic-style on tumblr? Perhaps a hybrid of both? I normally go with writing for longer stories, but this AU really got its interest and following through my random comics of it. It's exciting to think about my options as I could really challenge myself with it (even if opting for a more webcomic style is terrifying in its own way).

5. We're finally reaching the point in the story where Ladynoir are trying to transition from stalwart enemies to shy and unsure partners. All sides of the love square are standing on bambi legs right now as things are very new and scary - but at least they'll slowly learn they have each other to lean on!

Opening his eyes confirmed, to his significant irritation, that Wei Wuxian was not actually in the Caiyi town market anymore. He wasn’t even in a bed! Not his and Lan Wangji’s bed in the Jingshi or his rooms at either Lotus Pier or Koi Tower. He had lots of beds to choose from at this point — a frankly unreasonable number, which was not something he had ever really expected for himself, certainly not when for a while his only bed had been a sleeping mat next to a blood pool. But despite this plethora of options, he was still tossed into some dingy corner on an unfamiliar floor. He was feeling rather offended by it all. The sad excuse for kidnappers before him didn't improve his opinions on the situation.

I'm a sucker for comically failed kidnapping attempts, in which the bad guys just don't have a chance in hell of being anywhere near as terrifying as the protagonist, so I decided I needed to write a little one-shot along those lines, to give myself a break from my longer WIPs :3

So, remember when I said I was almost done with The Coma AU and you'd seen the last of it during a WIP game like this?

I'm a dirty, filthy liar.

Okay, no. I was telling what I thought was the truth at the time, I swear, but... talking it over with a couple pals, I decided that this fic is gonna be longer than I'd initially planned. I'll be working through it for a while as I essentially double its word-count to make room for the development I want to happen, lol.

I'm still having a really hard time making words happen, but I did manage a few sentences this weekend. Here's six:

He's spent every night since his arrival tightly tucked into the king size bed with June, Nora, Pez, and Bea—or some combination thereof. It should be uncomfortable, but Henry's actually quite confident it's the only reason he's slept at all. Today, he wakes at the center of the bed: June to his left, and Bea to his right. Lifting his head from the pillow, he sees Nora on the other side—her back to June's chest—and Pez almost comically curled up to fit on the end as Nora's little spoon. Henry has to throw his hand over his mouth to stifle a sob at his first waking thought: Alex would love this.

Haven't exactly posted anything substantial in the last few months, and although it has been partially because of artblock... it's also because I had the megalomaniac comic idea which I am currently drawing, mostly unscripted and... very, very long. At least to my parameters, anyways. But yeah, lack of motivation is also messing me up a lot, I have put myself in various smaller projects, and I might give up on it at any time. Still, art is art right? Drawings will be drawings! And someone might be interested in this. Well, my rant ends here. Enjoy images!

No, it's actually because my clipstudio paint doesn't let me use outside fonts (in an unprecedented way according to my csp buds), and I kind of still pondering about what I should do about it this one is the shortest scene. I haven't finished all the scene's thumbnails' yet, but by the thickness, you can tell which is longer and shorter (thicker: shorter; thinner: longer)

WIP: The Manipulation of the Spider-man Society

Okay! More wips, this time will share a bit of the post I had been talking about of how manipulative is the Spider Society; of course this is a wip so it still needs a lot of polishing.

I have been wanting to do this post for a while, while I don't think we can flat-out call the Spider-man Society a cult, the reality is that the more you look at it, the more twisted and crazy the spider society becomes.

I had seen a lot of people complain about the spiders in the society (specially on Gwen,) of how they could let this happen and could actually believe is a good idea to let people die. And I don't think a lot of these people realize how many of the things about how the organization is managed is built to keep you down and obeying.

I would estate now that a lot of the things that fall under Cult behaviours are kind of inevitable by the nature of the organization.

I also want to emphasize that I DON'T THINK MIGUEL IS EVIL, or is even aware of the damage he is doing by the way he is running things. I truly believe there is no one who believes more in this than him, and all he does is for the common good.

And he is so focused on that goal he doesn't realize the damage he is doing.

Levels of Information

It hasn't been flat out say, but you can see in the movie that there are levels to the amount of information each Spider has on the organization.

Pav is aware that the Spider's society duty is to stop villains and beings from other dimensions from breaking havoc; these people ended up there by accident and need to be contained and sent to their respective universes.

However, he also says "I can do both," meaning that he has to be unaware about living in a canon event, and most probably, the existence of canon events.

Hobie also, seems to be at a somewhat of an intermediate level.

Here, Hobie says how he actually doesn't have much of an idea of what's going on with the organization.

However, he does appear to know more than Pav and Miles.

Here Hobie confirms that he knows that Miles is an anomaly. At least that's the impression he gave me considering the circumstances.

Now, we need to balance a few possibilities here.

Hobie being aware of anomalies but not canon events isn't exactly the weirdest concept; anomalies are entities from another universes coming in, which is of course, not suppose to be normal occurrence in any universe. Miles being bitten by a spider from another dimension would make him an anomaly just for that alone.

Hobie didn't seem particularly surprised when the canon events conversation came up, but I can buy that 1) He knows how to hide his emotions well, which would make sense if his universe is anything similar to what it is in his comics, 2) He may had suspected something like this was going on with the information he has at hand.

This also makes sense with his character, because I am sorry but I really cannot believe Hobie knew Pav was going to go through something traumatic, and he would let it play out.

There is the possibility that he knows about anomalies from Gwen and not the organization itself, this would track considering he has admitted that the only reason he has been hanging around is because he wants to look after Gwen; and probably Pavitr too. He seems to be the type of person who looks after more vulnerable, young people. Which is pretty punk of him.

I don't think people are realize how absolutely TRUE this rings for Cults.

Independently if this is a religious or other type of cult (because yes, not all are religious;) something that tends to happen is that there are levels to what people know; and the longer and more loyal you are to a cult, the more they let you in.

In fact, the loyalty thing is sometimes more important than time; if they see you are committed enough to one level, they may let you in the next bit of information earlier.

This is because most cults start trying to say pretty reasonably things, a lot of them involved the common good and the possibility of a better life; and then the more they convince you to some ideas, the more they let you in the crazy stuff that is actually underneath. And this is on purpose, because a lot of people wouldn't had stayed too long if they knew the bat shit crazy information from the get go.

This is how you get cults like Scientology, where at first people only had a vague idea of what was going on, until some people got in deep enough to extract some information and reveal to the world how nuts a lot of this sounds

Some wips while I try and figure out designs. What Danny actually looks like as Phantom while in Amity Park since I do want him to have a cool design. The Ghoul aka what Phantom looks like while in Gotham, no longer vibing with the design so I'm working on remaking but also seeing what I can fix on what I don't like. And lastly Prince Danny as a lil spoiler for the design that folks will see at the end of the uh, side tangent comic I doodle when I have free time.

Forgot to add to the last ask- the otter comic says Kraw is a chimera, is that a natural species or are chimeras created somehow? Because otter grandpa said they're sterile and that happens to some non-natural animal combos irl. Also is his brother a chimera as well?

After just finding out about mayv and the way she looks, it made me think that chimeras are made by witches and not a natural species so I'm super curious now because why did somebody do that to those 2 kids if that's the case :(

In Hallowed Carrion chimera/Chimereals happen between two ‘primordial’ species that couldn’t normally mate, but it involves a ‘false uterus’ created by consuming the celestial body’s flesh. With Kraw it was his sea drake mother and Fury father. (They’re considered to be ‘primordial’ simply because they’ve been around for quite some time, live longer and are usually giants. Most modern day islanders don’t believe/know their kind exists, kind of like how we are with modern conspiracies of the ‘megalodon still existing in the marianna trench’).

It is a trait among chimereals that they are sterile. They’re also known by their abnormal growth hormones which causes them to keep growing/evolving for who knows how long. There’s actually a lot of prejudice held against them and they don’t often live in regular society like Kraw does, they’re usually considered dangerous and they’re often loners.

Most of this is only known because of Sylvaine learning about Serkan who is also a chimereal, albeit much older than Kraw. She’s actively studying chimereals through Kraw now. (He was actually very upset to learn he was sterile :(

And I’ve wanted to show more about Titus! It’s hard to balance my attention to everything lol.

Titus is also a chimereal. He was born on a specialized mill where they attempted to breed marine chimereals like him for hunting purposes. Most chimereals that come out of the mills end up dead, malformed or ‘defective’, so he was ‘lucky’. He also would have had the ability to breathe fire, but his flint glands were removed, like declawing a cat. He was kind of mean and he certainly had it harder than Kraw with Mayv. She didn’t even know he could speak when she first got him because his throat was fucked after they cut his flint glands out. He was about 7 when she got him and he was already known to be unruly/uncontrollable in the mill. They would have put him down if Mayv hadn’t come along. She took care of him though despite keeping a firm hand and eventually he came to see her as a surrogate mother.

He definitely got a jealous streak when she brought Kraw home. Mayv would often be fawning over how Kraw “came from the sea, so he would make such a great hunter and how beautiful his colors were and-“ blah blah blaaah. Titus hadn’t even seen the sea until Mayv rescued him, and he thought Kraw was just a little ‘flat-faced softie’. He would often goad him into fights. There’s a lot more to it, but eventually he and Kraw came to find their similarities, mostly through comforting each other through night terrors and exploring the swamps together.

Although Mayv also saw them like her own sons, she often towed the line between training them like animals and treating them like regular children. She was of course still very loving but it was often muddled by her militant expectations of them out on the ocean. Titus and Kraw worked for Mayv as ‘mer-hounds’, which are marine creatures that are trained to effectively hunt and catch mermaids or other large oceanic game, sort of like how some fishermen would use ducks. That was what the mills were breeding marine creatures for.

As of present day, a lot had gone down between Kraw and his brother, and a lot happened where Kraw had to leave the Shades as well. Kraw doesn’t know what’s become of his brother and whether or not Mayv is even alive. I do plan to get into that.

I can show you a sort of wip I have of him, but he might get a bit of a cleanup? Just because this is older art. I had planned to make growth charts for he and Kraw for a while now. Awkward teenage years and such.

I've been quiet and not posting much art lately because all my spare time has been occupied by two special projects: a Reylo comic and a Dramione comic! (There's actually another WIP reylo comic but it's on the back burner rn BUT it's free to view on my Patreon!)

Most comics I've made in the past have been shorter form but these are longer and more intricate, which is a challenge but a really rewarding one and it's been a lot of fun working on them. I hope to complete both sometime in October.

Porg Confessional takes place months after TLJ. I will share it in full once it is complete.

The Dramione comic is based off my Dramione fic Sweet Sacrifice (dark, read the tags!!) and will be explicit, mostly in chapter 2, which I haven't started working on yet. This comic takes a large divergence from the fic and explores what might have happened if Hermione had never met Draco along the road, and had been left outside the village as a sacrifice instead.

Due to the nature of the themes involved in this story it will be a Patreon exclusive, which is where I keep most of my nsfw work.

Somnia SMP AU

So, this AU idea actually came from a conversation my wife and I had while I made a design for C!Dream.

! THIS AU IS STILL VERY MUCH A WIP !

This is Somnia.

Somnia is a C!Dream who, Somehow, accidently discovered a way to travel through the multiverse. While on this journey though, he witnessed countless horrific events all cause by the Dreams in those universes. When he saw everything, he was mortified, deciding he couldn't bear to carry the same name and identity that these "Monsters" did. That would be when he changed his name from Dream, to Somnia. In a fit of rage, however, he confronted one of the Dreams, Even going so far as to take one of his lives. After he finally returned home, Saw Tommy, and everyone else, He vowed to never allow his SMP to turn out the way he'd seen various others. He then made sure everyone knew his name was no longer Dream, And the Server's name was to be changed as well.

Extra Info:

-Because of the guilt that Somnia holds, He hosts Large serverwide festivals at the end of every month for each member to attend and enjoy.

-Once took Tommy's discs, but realized how much they meant to him and immediately returned them with cover of, "Oh, I lost those, Looks like Tommy found them anyways. Oh well."

-Actively works to prevent Several "Canon events" from happening.

-L'manberg was founded, But the revolution took place before Somnia's discovery of the multiverse.

-Prevented Schlatt from winning in the election, and Convinced Quackity to go along with Wilbur Instead.
