I kind of don't like how a lot of people forget that despite all the angst and the drama around Dean and Cas they are fundamentaly best friends.

How many times did Dean say it throught the entire show? Bobby in season 6 saying "Well, you just lost the best friend you ever had."

For Bobby to say that, knowing Dean better than even Sam in some regards, how many times had Dean been sitting with Castiel on the couch in his living room?

Cas doesn't sleep, and rarely does Dean, with the Apocalypse looming right behind him.

Stanley looks dead faced because of his ingrained poker face, but he's thouroughly enjoying it, even if sometimes he has no idea what the fuck Ford is saying. He never interrupts him though, since he knows people usually ignore or interrupt him mid-talk already. So sometimes Stan gets stuck in awkward situations where he has to leave or do stuff, but also doesn't have it in his heart to stop Ford and extract himself out of a (one-sided) conversation.

Did you know the fantasy MMORPG Final Fantasy Fourteen only uses the word "okay" 9 times in dialogue throughout the entire hundreds of hours long story? And each use of "okay" that got through seems like an actual mistake that simply didn't get edited out?

There is no use of "okay" in A Song of Ice and Fire. There is no use of "okay" in the entire The Witcher series. It's something that's like... just really largely accepted for fantasy. I would argue that vocabulary choice and word choice does a huge amount of heavy lifting to make something "feel" like a fantasy!!!!! It's a part of the genre expectation that I think is largely agreed on.

If you're writing a medievalish fantasy in a fantasy land, and you chose to establish a unique vocabulary and to minimize modern anachronisms to facilitate the feeling of being in a different fantasy world than our own modern mundane world, in a way that is commonly accepted for fantasy, and you've done it in all 3 previous of your games except for deliberate exceptions for artistic reasons, then you expect that to continue into the next part of the story so you feel like there's continuity.

the FFXIV English localization team made a point never to use "okay" commonly because it DOES make it feel too modern. It's actually a really easy thing to keep an eye on, editing wise.

and FFXIV is a game that has ACTUAL MODERN CARS and PARKING LOTS!!! and the English writing team STILL cared about eliminating "okay". Because they cared in a basic way about how word choice affects fantasy experience. Anyway, so that's how it feels when fantasy writing cares about the little details :)

Anyway, I'll continue to look at it as the most easy softball lob toward the writers' and editors' bats that they just fucking whiffed for no reason. Or whiffed on purpose, which is even fucking worse.

And after this week's revelations that BioWare always HATED and devalued the medieval fantasy Dragon Age and LOVED and valued the futuristic sci-fi Mass Effect, this style change is even more important to me. When a company looks down on fantasy PERIOD and suddenly in the latest game even the very language is changed to not feel as much as a fantasy game.... HMMM Hmmmm hmmmm I'm sure it's nothing!!!!!! but yeah it's childish to have basic expectations for a fantasy setting

Hey y'all, do Etsy sellers a favour here, if you request help with an order asking for a refund, do not then immediately open a case against their shop. Give people a day to actually be awake. Etsy sellers aren't (supposed to be) companies with multiple employees. They're a single person or maybe like 2-3 people working together.

This is an asshole move and you're a dick if you do it. Opening a case: 1. Immediately flags the seller to Etsy as untrustworthy which affects literally every aspect of their business 2. Immediately drops their ratings, and viewability in searches 3. Flags the account to other buyers for WEEKS afterwards as having had a case against them 4. In some cases you get a double refund! Which sounds nice except the shop owner pays it twice to you and our profit margins are low. When that happens it costs us a lot of money.

Remember that the person you're dealing with is a human being who has to do things like sleep, eat, use the bathroom, shower, be sick, spend time with family, cook, and possibly also has school or another regular job. They aren't sitting there waiting to respond and issue your refund in under 5 minutes. Most of us check our shops 1-2 times a day. Hell, you don't even expect that sort of speed from mega-corporations. So why are you opening a case for 'failure to respond' on someone who's a single human and simply hasn't seen your request?

*Obviously you should open a case in some cases! But give the person 24 hours before you do, chances are really solid they just haven't checked yet and haven't seen. A case isn't necessary in most requests for help and when it isn't, it hurts perfectly legitimate and honest people just trying to earn a living.
