part of updating the five dragons means that the chapter count of the original fic keeps going down as short-ish chapters get subsumed into larger ones. Originally the chapter count was at 30 something but now it’s at 25.
I have picked up an extremely funny guest reader with an excellent commitment to the bit. As far as I remember, fanfic dot net doesn’t send out emails when chapters are replaced, and also, this is a guest, so it’s not like they’ve got an email tied to their account anyway, meaning it’s very impressive that they manage to be there pretty quick whenever the chapter count goes down again.
The first review they left was on chapter 27, and they said ‘excited for chapter 28’. Then the chapter count went down. So on chapter 26 they said ‘excited for chapter 27’. I updated again last night, taking the chapter count down again, and true to form 3 hours ago they said they were excited for chapter 26.
I think what I’m getting at here is you really don’t have to say much in a comment. This guy hasn’t said anything about the chapters I’ve been posting! But they manage to be there really fast anyways, every time the chapter count goes down, continuing a bit and also expressing excitement for the future. It… kind of means a lot. They have to be checking pretty often to catch my updates.
#mobbtalks#I am also crossposting on ao3 and there is another guy over there giving live feedback on the content of the chapters so that’s nice#… have I talked about this fic enough that I’m morally obligated to start linking it? Uhhh.#I mean. I don’t think anyone who follows me is super into Fairy Tail tbf. but also#I know how annoying it is to try and find a fic someone’s talking about when they don’t link it#but also also. hhhruhhhhhghhgg. I mean okay if anyone has gotten this far in the tags and wants to know#ShadeShadow234 on Ao3 or ffn dot net. story is titled. as stated. The Five Dragons. I’d recommend the ao3 version because as it turns out#fanfic dot net is really Not Built for you to ship of Theseus your own fanfic#okay moral obligation over.#I suppose to be entirely fair I don’t know how much this would sustain me if tfd didn’t already have like 270 reviews#but as it stands it’s nice!! it’s a little acknowledgment of the work I’m putting in and it’s a funny bit

A Brief History of Elder McKinley's Fanon Name
(And all the earliest uses I could find of it)
I was inspired to do this by @killedbytelephones recent question as to why McKinley's fanon name is Connor (as I've been wondering the same thing since I first joined the fandom).
@bomhistorian commented on the post explaining it originated from a fanfiction that was popular early on in the show's run.
So, I started at AO3 and sorted by oldest under The Book of Mormon - 2011 tag. I found this fic (uploaded on November 11, 2012) on the first page, the first fic on the archive I could find using the name "Connor" for Elder McKinley. The other fics that had already been posted to AO3 at this point either did not have McKinley in them, or referred to him as "Ryan" (earliest use dated July 19, 2011) or "Sean" (earliest use dated May 19, 2012).
I was curious if anyone in the comments had commented about this being the earliest use of Connor as McKinley's first name and lo and behold! Starlightandpinot commented in 2018 asking if this was the first instance- author of the fic, deliarium, replied, saying the name had already been popularized on both fanfiction.net and tumblr.
I started on FFN, sorting by oldest under the Book of Mormon tag. The oldest fic on there, Turn It Off (July 20, 2011), used the name Ryan- this is an upload of the same fic crossposted by the author to AO3 on July 21, 2011.
Side note: another author on FFN, rainbowfish22, wrote a majority of the last page of the BOM tag on ffn- none of them gave any name to McKinley (just referring to him as Elder McKinley, however they did give Elder Poptarts the name Christopher in this fic from August 3, 2011. I want to say this is the earliest instance of Elder Poptarts being called Chris/Christopher. Furthermore, on the next page of fics, author TrapezoidalGreenOnes uses this name, Christopher, in their fic Turn it Off on August 4, 2011. Elder McKinley is still unnamed in this fic.
On August 5, 2011 author blottedpen23 upload their fic In Africa where they refer to Elder McKinley as Connor- the earliest instance on FFN of this name being used. I wasn't fully convinced this is where the name Connor originated from, however, so I moved my search to Tumblr.
Side note: On July 3, 2011 tumblr user @turnit0ff posted this fic, where Elder McKinley's name is Ryan- I believe this is the very first instance of the name Ryan being used for Elder McKinley!
On July 16, 2011 tumblr user @rhythmthlef posted this fic. This is the very first post under the #elder mckinley tag that uses the name Connor for him. However, they credit it as a sequel to user sunshinegirl22's fic, who's blog has been deleted since. So, I googled around to try to find an archive of the fic. A livejournal blog titled bomfanfic came up, which archived, you guessed it, book of mormon fanfiction. I couldn't find the specific sunshinegirl22 fic Rhythm's tumblr post was referring to, but the LJ blog had archived another one of sunshinegirl22's fics: Dear Steve, posted on July 11, 2011 (which did not name Elder McKinley in it).
I was still curious, so I continued clicking around the LJ blog and found this fic by kmagz, also archived on July 11, 2011, which used the name Connor for Elder McKinley. Kmagz did not appear to have a LJ, but at some point he had a tumblr (however it has since been deleted). I checked the wayback machine for archives of both kmagz's tumblr and sunshinegirl22's tumblr, but neither have seemed to been archived.
I have no idea when the archived fics from July 11, 2011 were actually written, but I'll assume it was likely sometime in July 2011 (from the tumblr post that sequels sunshinegirl22's fic).
Another fic was uploaded by @slinkychesterisnowanarchiv-blog1 referring to McKinley as Connor (this time spelt Conner) just two hours after @rhythmthlef's SG22 sequel fic was uploaded onto tumblr. SlinkyChester may have seen Rhythm's fic and written theirs right after (using the same name), but I think it's more likely this name already existed in Kmagz's fic archived from July 11 (which I think must have been popular on tumblr before the blog was later deleted).
Side note: Two of the other fics archived on the LJ blog on July 11 referred to McKinley as "Alexander" and "Iain". The rest of the fics archived on that day either do not include or do not name McKinley. I think this also suggests/supports Kmagz's fic was the first to use Connor. (at least the first we have proof of existing.)
Here's the first fanart I could find referring to McKinley as Connor.
In a later @rhythmthlef fic from September 14, 2011, she refers to McKinley as Iain (spelled Ian this time).
---
TL;DR I think it was a combination of fanfictions using the name Connor for McKinley that just made it catch on (and along the way people just accepted it as canon unaware it was a fan name). These fics beat out/became more popular than the ones referring to McKinley as Ryan or Sean or Alexander or Ian/Iain. As far as my knowledge goes right now, I believe kmagz came up with Connor in a now deleted fic from July 2011.
UPDATE (also in reblogs): @rhythmthlef was so kind as to add more insight and answer a question I had!! Turns out sunshinegirl22 was actually the first person to use the name Connor for Elder McKinley (I’m assuming in a fic also from July 2011, maybe June?) but everyone say thank you sunshinegirl22! 🫶🫶 maybe we’ll even find the original fic some day! :-D

this probably seems like a weird question from your end,but why do fanfic writers care so much about comments? aos already tracks hits and likes, sorry ""kudos"", so why are comments such a big deal to the point that people will stop writing?
okay, so i'm going to take this question very seriously and i promise it's not to make you feel bad. this is a comprehensive explanation of reasons that comments are important for me, both as a writer and as a reader
engagement vs numbers game
seeing trends
buy-in
community building
engagement vs numbers game
let's look quickly at two different fics of mine. this is the kudos count for a fic called Of First Kisses and Burnt Lips

it's old. it's been up on ao3 for almost 11 years now. 258 people liked it enough to leave a kudos, 12 people liked it enough for a bookmark, and it's been clicked on 3,859 times.
i have no clue what almost any of these people on ao3 THINK about it. beyond "huh. sure. i'll kudos that". compare this to its crosspost on ffn, where i got 5 reviews

3/5 mention it being cute. 3/5 give appreciation to me for taking the time to write it. 2/5 praise the writing itself from the attention to detail with grammar to the craft. 1/5 is an "um..." which is hard to decipher but appreciate and 1/5 is a silly reaction, but it's a reaction! look, someone felt a felling reading my thing! that made me giggle!
looking at the stats here from a purely numbers perspective, my fic DID better on ao3. it got a lot more kudos than it ever got faves or reviews on ffn. but those ffn comments are still what i think about when i remember this fic.
sure, a shear number like hits or kudos can be comforting and motivating. i'm definitely not telling you to NOT leave kudos! but the fics that i've come back to, recently, are the ones where i don't have a lot of kudos but i do have a few people who are invested in the stories and leaving comments to tell me
2. seeing trends
lets look at a few of the comments on my fic The Maid of Honor Made Them Do It

so just in these two comments, we see both commenters hone in on the same detail: my choice to include a special christian music playlist that this characters' friends made for her. a few other people in this thread mentioned that same detail, so i know this bit really worked well! it's great feedback that lets me know that a good chunk of readers agree with my characterization here.
these readers zoom in on specific details that they really liked! things that made them laugh, the absurdity of the concept, enjoying reading it, and that they could see it staged, which is a HUGE compliment for a work in a fandom for theater.
i've always had trouble with imaging where characters are in a space, how they're occupying it and moving, and how to use that for characterization purposes. however, i got more than one comment on this fic about how people could see it staged! that means that i'm improving in an area that i've always struggled with. that's huge. it makes me want to keep working on this thing! it makes me feel like what i'm doing here matters, because lots of people are picking up on similar things! they're invested enough to give me a comment! and it makes me want to keep writing for the hatchetfield fandom because some people are invested in my work here. that is BIG! seeing trends in the way that readers experience your story helps a lot with writer buy-in for a project and also for writers self-analysis.
as a commenter: this helps me JUST as much. when i really dig into what i enjoyed about a fic to tell the writer about it, that helps me analyze and articulate the strengths and things i might want to take away from the storytelling, and that makes my writing better too!
3. buy-in
this is a comment on a series that has less than 100 kudos across three fics, but has thoughtful, appreciative comments on each work. it's called Melting Pot

the commenter deleted their ao3 account. they may be one of the people who commented on the next fic, which i posted recently. they might NOT have been! honestly, it doesn't matter that much to me. this person gave me a gentle and nudge about a fic that matters to me and mattered to them at the time, and they were part of the push i needed to get back to it.
from a commenter perspective, i know that hearing a kind word can help someone keep up their motivation to write, even when i can't write in depth comments the way that i like to!

just recently i only had the time to comment "nice update" on a favorite fic of mine called Teeth That Turn. but they know that i come and i read and they know and talk to me by (user)name. because they know i care about this thing they care about! and it's way more fun to do something like this when i know i can chat with the author about theories and thoughts and ideas. and this isn't a "wow aren't i so cool other writers like me! tehehe" bragging thing, it's just evidence for the case of why comments matter?
if i didn't want this to be a two way buy-in, i'd ONLY read published fiction, you know? we're all playing in the sandbox on the playground and i like what they made. they like that i like what they made :) we're scheduling a play date to fight with sticks after school my mom said it's okay!
4. community building
now i know that i just mentioned above here why i like being a commenter and how it helps authors, as well as why i like HAVING commenters as an author. i'm still arguing those things as a lead up to this section, where i have two other points to make about community building here too.
1. you can comment on OTHER comments! if you go through and read to see what other people are saying, you can agree with them. you can add some commentary! sometimes you can make a joke! and i've only ever had fun responses from something like that. authors tend to love that their fics are getting such a response that people are talking to each other about it! like look!!!!!! my thing got you to talk to someone else about it holy shit?!??!
2. commenting on fics in your fandom builds you a good reputation and makes other authors you comment on more likely to read YOUR fic. i'm not going to post any screenshots on this one because it would be embarrassing for everyone involved, but there have been authors that i really admired who gave my stuff a try after i commented on theirs. and they've told me that's why they tried it! like obviously it's not just networking or whatever, but it's really nice to have someone give your stuff a try because you've been enthusiastic and thoughtful about theirs.
and you make friends this way! fandom friends! who want to talk about your blorbos! you get to go on little play dates in cyberspace with cool people who like what you like. you don't ever HAVE to be a writer, of course. if you don't want to throw your hat into the ring or make art or edits or gif sets or anything, that's cool. no one ever has to participate in fandom outside of their comfort zone! but if you want to, you know that you'll feel more welcomed if you have some people in your corner for it, and making friends in a space, screaming about how much you love the characters you love, and remembering that fic authors especially are just fans too will help you feel like you "deserve" to exist in the space. maybe you don't write, but you go here too. you've got a space in the fandom and your comments don't have to be, like, perfect literary essays for authors to appreciate them and get a motivation boost from them still existing and us being able to go back to them and go!!! look!!! i don't suck!!! this person liked what i did so i'm okay! :)

Which Macgyver fic can you recommend? With Mac whump and a big one
Lately rally trying to find some new good fics, but I have a sad feelings that there is no good whump fics I haven't read :(
Hello friend,
Oh that's a tough one. The Mac fandom is blessed with an abundance of great fic but it's hard for me to make a recommendation if you think you've already read them all. I'm assuming this is on AO3? The first thing I'd ask is if you've checked out FFN? There are quite a few fics over there that haven't been crossposted on AO3, Ridley C. James and Objessions come to mind.
The next thing I'd ask is if you're looking specifically at the "whump" tag because a lot of authors, including myself, don't necessarily tag things as "whump" and you may be unwittingly excluding fics you would love.
Have you read Haven126? There's probably not a week that goes by that I don't think about the Turkey Day series (specifically the second one has me in a death grip)
I haven't finished it yet but The Chair + The Box + The Board by @rosieblogstuff is delightfully intense
Sat Phones + Heat Stroke + GPS by Project7723 (@improvidus) is based off of one of my favorite Star Trek Enterprise episodes. It's more emotional whump but I would also recommend "In the Wake of Him"
Stakeout + Bridal Carry by tangocharlie
Have you ready from SabbyStarlight? TetrodotoxinB ("Old Fish in the State of Denmark" killed me dead)? I have to assume you've read AppalachianApologies' 144 MacGyver fics already, right? Nativestar's "Living Death" is *chef's kiss*. CommanderBunnBunn's Sandbox + Possum is a favorite.
Have you gone back far enough that you've read Katikat or Tinkerbella?
I guess it's just hard for me to know what you're looking for, especially if you think you've read everything already. I sadly don't have a secret hidden cache of fics. There are thousands of wonderful fics and I barely brushed across the surface with my brief overview

Update:

Hey, it's been awhile since I updated y'all!
There was one ask I got a blue moon ago about Magic Between the Moon & Sky, and I will sadly report that I do not see myself updating that series for the foreseeable future. I didn't want to be one of those authors who make a 100 oneshot series then stop, but I am just not a fan of TDP at the moment so it's hard to really find the passion to write for a fandom I'm not in anymore.
I also know a good many of you are wondering about Loyalty & Light but I can confidently say that there is nothing solid yet. Another batch of twenty chapters is a lot for me and it will take a long while for it to get up and kicking. But I am still working at it. Don't be afraid to keep asking about it or to send asks! The comments I've been getting are a great inspiration!
Meanwhile, for The Most Undoing Thing, the final two chaps are coming! Regardless of season 2, this does not change the development of the fic at all. TMUT was always set in a post-season 1 only AU formula. I hoped to finish it before season 2, but alas, I did not. That said, I am immensely appreciative of the surge of love and attention toward TMUT. I guess a lot of people are aching for some Mama Jinx after Isha, huh? ( >ヮ<).
So when's TMUT coming out? Well here's a rundown:
Arcane/Legends of Runeterra, Mama Jinx AU, multi-chapter story (Title: "The Most Undoing Thing"). Chapter 19 sometime January.
The Owl House, Lealtad Noceda big sister/beta sister AU, multi-chapter story (Title: "Loyalty & Light"). Season 2, chap 21-41 in development!
The Owl House & The Ghost and Molly McGee crossover, crossover AU, multi-chapter story (Title: "The Light and Molly McGee"). Still in development!
Halloween fics: yeah I got delayed, so I'm gonna aim for 2025 Halloween now hopefully...
Once again, all is subject to change of course. Between uni, my newfound interest with D&D, and personal matters, it's hard to find time to write. But I still wanna write! I love writing fics and I miss posting 'em. Fall sem is done and I am hyped to write. As always, if you're interested in these fics, I have a few asks or posts about them that you can find via tags!
In other news, I will officially state that I am now ceasing use of FFN or Fanfiction.Net. This doesn't mean I'll delete my account and all stories up there, but for the future, I will not crosspost anymore fanfics on FFN. With all the issues it's had over the years, and a new wave of scam mail, I'm just tired of it. I'm sad too, because I'm aware of the recent traction I've been getting on there as well, but I'm afraid I'm just too tired of it.
So, I'm only using Ao3 from here on out. Sorry to all you FFN users, but I hope you can find the leniency to at least follow my stories on Ao3!
By the way, tags with “bleh update” keep track of all incoming fic posts! And check out my Fandom Masterlist to see what I’m into! Also Here’s all my Fanfics!
That’s all for now. Stay safe and take care all!
Until next post,
- Bleh

another tag game! this one from @anghraine. I feel like I've done it before but it's been a while and while probably nothing has actually changed it's always fun to look at stats
rules: give us the links to your fics with the most hits, second most kudos, third most comments, fourth most bookmarks, fifth most words, and fic with the fewest words.
Most hits: I know this one without looking and it's Life in Reverse (413,311), which will probably never be surpassed as my most popular fic. and after rereading recently I've kind of made my peace with that, a little bit. That is almost four times as many hits as the runner up, but it does have the unfair advantage of being 44 chapters.
2nd most kudos: I had a guess for this one and I was correct - it's With Absolute Splendor (11,470). It's creeping up on Life in Reverse for 1st place though I doubt it'll ever catch up.
3rd most comments: This is actually also With Absolute Splendor (873), which surprises me a little because this statistic tends to be biased toward multi-chapter fics.
4th most bookmarks: half a league onward (2,342), a fic which I feel kind of guilty about since I took its plot almost wholesale from someone else's tumblr post. I mean, I guess I did write the 17k of it, but still.
5th most words: This one I actually didn't know what to expect! Turns out it's Life After Death (71,109), unsurprisingly the first Yi City fic to make it on this list. I knew what I was doing when I chose to write in a niche subset of fandom.
Fewest words: Out of everything I've posted on AO3, ever, including crossposted works from FFN, apparently it is a Harry Potter fic, The Killing Curse (144). I wrote, like, three of those. I know for a fact this is not technically true, though, because I know there are actual 100 word drabbles on my Livejournal. I guess I just haven't gotten around to reposting those, probably because it hasn't felt worth the work. But maybe I should go back and reassess.
I tag @feralkwe, @mikkeneko, @brawlite, @ameliarating, and anyone else who feels so inclined!

How do we gift/post our gifts? Are we sending them directly to the giftee/posting them and just tagging the giftee?
Also are we allowed to post our works to sites like Ao3 if it is a fic? Or will that be up to the giftee?
Thanks ☺️
Awesome question, friend!
It's really up to you. You can share your gift and tag them, or send it to them in an ask; either way is fine! Please don't send it as a direct message to them though, because we'd love to share it from this blog as well!
Also, you're definitely allowed to crosspost to archive, ffn, deviantart, or any other site! We may create a collection on ao3 for this event too.
And remember, though you're allowed to post your gift early, on Christmas Eve or Christmas day is preferable, and make sure it's posted before January 2!

You’ve mentioned knowing every Wizards of the Black Circle fanfiction, and I was wondering: do you know any fics that ship Gantlos and Duman?
At like a certain point in time those were basically all the English fics we had, you got to choose between wizards/winx or Gantlos/Duman, had to be real lucky to find anything else?? Some of them were deleted though, I think. There goes a bit of HISTORY 😔😔
I know there's still a few in the AO3 wizard tag and Gantlos x Duman tag though, specifically at the end. The same ones were also crossposted on ffn, but I don't go there often because I struggle with the tagging over there sjjsdjj but I'm aware of the fresh batch dropped on there! I'll give you 3 links for it because, again, I struggle with the tagging there;
[Black Circle tag]
[Gantlos tag]
[Duman tag]
A somewhat personal recommendation would be Warm A Wizard’s Heart, which was also crossposted. Like I'm not fully invested in the ship, but I can appreciate that lil fic. Maybe that wrecks all my credibility but sjsksghsj I felt bad just throwing you into tags to look for yourself so there.
I'm not sure how many fics there are outside of English, but I'll be keeping an eye out! This is just what I know currently.

PSA: I have changed the settings on my AO3 account so my stories can only be viewed by registered users. If anyone who is not a registered user wants to read my works, feel free to reach out to me on here and I can send them to you! I also crosspost to FFN under the username darthnell. Sorry for the inconvenience 😭 hoping I wont have to keep this setting forever 🤞

lil tentative psa
shared a bit abt this in the ga discord server a bit ago but i lost track of it because i got very busy in the interim but i see the problem has not gone away (and in fact gotten a bit worse) so i am going to share some info here.
i see that "capsize" by Ducky-san on ffn has been crossposted onto ao3 under a different username (DarkFaerie0) and im suspicious bc the original notes on the chapters are gone and there is no mention of the original work or crossposting. i'm concerned that someone is stealing someone else's work and claiming credit for it. i have reached out to Ducky-san directly on ffn but since they haven't been active in a few years, i don't know if i will get a response.
the crossposted fic has a decent amount of interaction and comments for a ga fic, and if it isn't Ducky-san, then it makes me sick to see someone else get praise for hard work that isn't theirs.
if this is this is them crossposting their own work, then i'm happy they're still kicking! but if this is a fic thief, then i suggest ppl proceed with caution
i'm posting to spread caution but also if you know anything about who is posting that fic, please let me know. if it is Ducky-san under a new user, then i will happily delete this post! but if it isn't, then some interference will need to take place.
#i WANT to be able to delete this post. i WANT this crossposter to be ducky-san.#but if it isnt??? OOF ILL BE MAD#gakuen alice#i welcome any and all suggestions for how to handle this situation and any info anyone has.#i know some ao3 readers dont even look at ffn so they wouldnt know abt the originals but i am REALLY suspicious that this is a thief#and if it is then theyre wasting the readers time and attention. theyve been getting long and detailed comments#idk this is just super important to me#that ppl should not get credit/praise for work that isnt theirs. especially with no reference to the original. its gross if thats the case#possible fic thief#ill update if i get any word back from ducky-san but if i dont then... ill need to take some steps.#whats the best way to address this situation if it IS a thief?

Hii it's the anon who sent the ask Abt looking other places for fanfic so I found this longfic called Ocean Mist on Wattpad and there's specifically a chapter called "Ticklish", Yuu finds out Azul is ticklish in that one and it's sooo cute(tbh I just loved the whole fic so much flustered Azul <3)
Additionally, on AO3, you may or may not have found these already because they're not tagged but they're tkl fics
Tickle Attack (You notice the octatrio isn't feeling well, cheer-up tickles ensue)
Tsuisorando Shotsu (I'm not sure if I spelled the name right, but there are quite a few tkl fic chapters in there, I think it's best to just select "read entire work" and command-f "tickl" bc that's what I did to avoid anything potentially explicit) But just in case you don't want to come across anything like that, there's the chapter 'Our Lovable Octopus' which might have had one vague explicit implication but I don't think there was anything major and the tickling was wholly sfw
A Fine Line Between - I just liked this fic in general the M isn't for any sexual content, and there's a tkl scene (if you wanna skip to just that part, I'd recommend just clicking read entire work and command-f 'tickl')
Also, I'm not sure if you already know this (probably do, but just in case) there's some fics w/Azul that were made in 2023)
On Wattpad, NGL I just looked up 'twst tickl' and sifted through the stuff I got so sorry that I couldn't rec much stuff, also I saw this one that was a transcript of tkl audios but there was an explicit chapter in there meaning this was probably a kink for them so I clicked out)
Ffn's mostly AO3 cross posting so there isn't anything there you wouldn't find on AO3 (I'm saying this to myself because I was about to check only to realize that everything there's on AO3, sorry)
Tbh I mostly looked for every single fic I could find on AO3 and then ended up also finding sfw tkl scenes in the process (I also command F'd a bunch of longfics) so I can mostly just say specific scenes from certain fics sryyy
Anyways, I hope at least one of these is new to you <3
hello anon! thank you sooo much for these, i already read the first one just now and it was so cute omg and also i thought i was the only one who would search for tickle content by using “tickl” cuz it can be ticklish, tickling, tickle, and litwrally just all that LOL anyways these are very appreciated and if u ever find any more, please dont hesitate to send them my way hehe
im going to link some of the ones from ao3 under the cut
so tickle attack which is by missyliz - which i haven’t read yet! it seems really cute tho!
and uhh i couldnt actyally find the next fic tbh😭😭 i searched high and low but maybe im missing something?? could u possibly provide an author?
a fine line between by kyuubiluver342 - i actually havent reqd this one either but i did skim over it so for others, the scene is near the end of chapter 2 and from what i’ve seen, it’s comfort tickles
and yeah, ffn is something i noticed did have lots of crossposting, but i never really minded because i dont really know how to work the website anyway LOL
also since you shared some, ill share one that i found also!
so the first one is giggles by psycheprincess — this one isnt tickle centric but it does have a small scene
and here’s a SNIPPET of a scene in this azujami one-shot — that is this is me by dizplixity but the wcene is very short so i have a photo below

and im assuming u have read the fics under the tickling tag, but there’s some really cute ones there too! if not, i don’t mind sharing them:)
again, thanks for these recommendations and i really didnt expect them to be centered around the octatrio so it was a nice surprise hehe <33

If you're languishing without AO3, try way back machine. If you know what fic you want to read, see if it's been archived there. If you don't know what you want to read, you could try looking through fic rec posts or AO3 feed blogs on Tumblr for your fandom/favourite character and try seeing if any fics interest you, then looking the fic's url up on wayback machine.
I won't insult you by telling you to try the obvious options of FFN/Wattpad/Tumblr, but as someone who has been listening to a lot of podfic lately, have you tried the audiofic archive? Also: kinkmemes for your fandom on DW/LJ usually produce fics of the kind that generally end up on ao3, and checking DW (and LJ for older fandoms) for fic in general could work too, though not as many people crosspost there as they used to. Look for specific authors or communities as a jumping off point.

Happy 2-Year Anniversary to TPWCH!
The last few weeks and months have been a bit rough for me, so I don’t have anything else ready to show you today, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have plenty to look forward to!
OC Memes - Technically not for the anniversary, but rather to celebrate 300 kudos. I’m almost done with these! Here’s a WIP!
Anniversary Art ’24 - I’m working on a group photo for all the important characters in the TPWCH universe—including the sequel—so we’ll finally have exact visual representations for every important character beyond Picrews! I’ll be sharing a WIP soon.
Tako’s Getting Treated for ADHD - I’m taking the test tomorrow and have my follow-up next week. My ADHD has held me back since the very beginning of the fic and even before, so if everything goes well I might be able to be somewhat more productive on the fic going forward!
Ship Wars Ahead - A Tumblr poll tournament coming in April!
And now for the big one…
TPWCH is getting crossposted!
Okay, hold on, put the pitchforks down for just a second…
I know FFN is dead and Wattpad is cringe. But each site has its strengths that AO3 doesn’t quite cover. Particularly, I’ve always liked the format of Wattpad making it feel easier to comment and encouraging discussion among readers! FFN also holds a lot of sentimental value to me, and I’ve been wanting to return there for a while. Since I’ll be reposting chapter by chapter, it also allows new readers to ease into the story like many of you did when the fic was first coming out on AO3, instead of having to commit to such an intimidating 150,000-word chunk of fic all at once. And if the fic takes off on one or both of those other platforms, it’ll be a good thing for everyone! Not only will the TPWCH community continue to grow, but also—try as I might—I’m only human and more comments/interaction will automatically motivate me more to write and get chapters out for all of you! Skimming, dividing up, and posting old parts of the fic is also a minimally stressful way to get myself to engage with the fic and increase motivation.
Somehow I already had accounts on both of these platforms. Here they are! I’ll be getting my FFN profile pic and Wattpad bio fixed in the next few hours, and I’ll have a teaser for the TPWCH launch up in the next day or two.
FanFiction.Net Account
Wattpad Account
Both crosspostings are starting on 3/8
3 & 8 day!
From then on…
- FFN will update with one chapter every Friday, with any half chapters posted on the intervening Wednesday.
- Wattpad chapters will be broken up into ~3,000-word chunks and will update three times a week—Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday
Let me know what you think!

AO3 (& FFN) Stats: My Writing Over Time
Some really really interesting statistics that I just ran for reasons and like.
Holy shit
TLDR: I have written almost as much for the Yuumori fandom in just over a year than in 7 years of writing for the Yugioh fandom and while I knew I had written a lot for yuumori, actually running the numbers was honestly mindblowing. Plus some discussion about why I feel that may be
Ok, so some context re: my fandom history:
I joined the Yugioh fandom in 2015 or so. My first posted fic is from them. While I took breaks and didn't post things every year from then on... I did write pretty regularly from then on out. I didn't post much in 2018, but I updated at least one thing for the last time that year. Even when I joined (up with the ... I had been watching OP since 2015 or so also, but only caught up enough to look at Fanfic or other shit at this point) the One Piece fandom in January of 2020 just before the pandemic, i didn't stop writing Yugioh. I even had a crossover fic. I sort of boomed and busted on One Piece and was still pretty regularly writing Yugioh fanfic (I was at least doing YGOME yearly, except the year of my concussoin) when the Yuumori hyperfixation hit after I watched it in February or so of 2023.
Between FFN and AO3 (YGO brought me to AO3), I have written a grand total of 129,364 words of Yugioh fanfic since 2015. 20,756 of those words are from a One Piece-Yugioh crossover fic that I never finished. Those words span a total of 29 fics (23 only on AO3, 5 only on FFN, and 1 crossposted to both).
In contrast, I have written a total of 27 fics for the yuumori fandom amounting to a total of 111,948 words. Since February or March of 2023. Just over a year ago.
I have nearly written the same amount in 1 fucking year for the yuumori fandom as I did for the entirety of the time I was actively writing Yugioh fanfic, which, if you count 2018 & 2023 and beyond as essentially off years for yugioh, is still 7 years.
Just gonna... sit on that for a second.
Wow.
I know that part of it is just the sheer amount and import of comments/friendship/feedback in the yuumori fandom; its not that I didn't have super important friendships and get amazing comments and feel super motivated by them when I was writing for Yugioh also, but...
I cannot fathom having earned 126 comment threads on a yugioh fanfic without being like. someone. Poison Paradise is essentially one of my first fics for yuumori, i didn't have a following already or anything I just wrote it. Quickly, espeically at first -- I was updating daily for a while, so that certainly didn't hurt. But god. people are so talkative in a good way in the yuumori fandom, and it's honestly a bit intoxicating.
But also I think that part of it is that the characters are just. So. Blorbo shaped? I have SO MANY blorbos in contrast to cast size compared to either Yugioh or One Piece. I relate to many of the characters and want to project on them and make their lives miserable and happy and put them in All The Situations. It's not just a handful of favorite characters. It's a full on cast of blorbos somehow.
And I have so many ideas for them all and then I spitball with you all because we're talkative and friendly and <3 and then there are even more ideas and I go home and I just want to write and I know what I'm writing -- or if I don't it's because I can't decide amongst them all, not because there is no idea motivating me. My brain just collided full force with this media and it got fully absorbed.
It just feels... idk .. special. I would never have believed you if you told me I would write around 100,000 words in a year. That's a massive number. And yet-- I have. I did. It's done.
Wow.

Intro Post, GO!
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph--I last did one of these in 2018... fucking...

Info under the cut, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Hi! My name is Nehs and I write stuffs. I’m a trained screenwriter and hope to one day break into that, but I also know that since it’s a lot of work and luck I might as well enjoy myself along the way. I’ve been writing fan fiction since about 1998 and sharing online since 2004, so when I say I’ve been writing fic for most of my life, I mean it. More recently I’ve been very active in the Doctor Who/Whouffaldi fandom and back in One Piece. These things are more alike than one would think. My life force feeds off of weird, rare, and otherwise less-popular ships as well as alternate universe settings.
Aside from being here I’m also on fanfiction.net and Archive of Our Own. In the past nine years I’ve put out about 1.78mil words on AO3. My totals on FFN (which begin in high school (beware weird/lower quality work earlier on) and are skewed due to author’s notes and review replies bc i’ve been on the site for so long) are at ~2.38mil. Not everything from here is on my FFN or AO3 and not everything on FFN is on AO3 and vice versa. I do tend to crosspost a lot of my work, however, so when one site is down, there’s usually a good place to find my stuff otherwise if you were in the middle of something!
(No, seriously, my FFN hits took off during the latest mass-AO3 outage and it was mainly for stuff that was crossposted, so don’t be afraid to come on over!)
Uhh... big things I’m known for...
The Time That We Love Best: slice of life Whouffaldi AU set from WWII-1960; a hundred chapters of a relationship and lots of period-related plot; there are prompt fills to add to the story
The Thick of UNIT: crossover involving Doctor Who and The Thick of It, prominently showcasing the crackship of Kate Stewart/Malcolm Tucker; contains many OCs, canon cameos from both shows, weird shit, and current events; lots of offshoots and even has spawned fic of the fic
The March of Kasterborous and Gallifrey: pseudo-fantasy/nobility Whouffaldi AU that starts with an arranged marriage and morphs into a loving relationship and the building of a dynasty; consists of In Want of An Heir, Stars in A Sky of Blood and Blue, a prompt fill fic, and an AU of the AU that’s a remix of the first fic
Getting the Hang of Things: my attempt at a close-as-possible-to-canon Whouffaldi AU where they raise kids
a bunch of different fantasy-related Whouffaldi AUs, incorporating things such as selkies, werewolves, vampires, a How to Train Your Dragon setting, and more
Father Like Son, Mother Like Daughter, Parent Like Child: a One Piece Bellazón AU where Cora-san and Bell-mère raise their six kids in the East Blue, they’re all better adjusted, and proceed to make it everyone’s problem
little seagull, little seagull, where shall you go?: a One Piece AU where the Heart Pirates find a kid during the timeskip and Law completes the circle and becomes her Cora-san; is pretty much becoming a pick-your-own adventure story as I write varying branches to the plot
Love, Loss, and Finding One’s Self on the High Seas; I wanted to write Sanji/Pudding that gave her agency and made things less creepy; there’s lots of other ships too and it’s just weird af trust me
Other than that I am generally friendly and willing to interact with people. Drop me a line anytime, about fic or fandom or anything else, even if you think it’s negative. My personal blog is escapaldi. I enjoy hearing from readers (I’m one of those people that stalk reblogs for fun tags) and anything is better than nothing. There’s always room for improvement in a writer’s craft, so if you catch something then please let me know. Anon is on and if you prefer to confer in private just say so. Another thing to note is that I tend to reblog fanart for things I’ve written, things I find neat/important, and any other projects I may be in at the moment. If you got a problem with that, then I’m not really sure what to tell you. *shrugs* Oh, and yeah, don’t feed my fics to an AI for any reason whatsoever or I’ll astral-project myself to your computer and no one will enjoy themselves. :D
#welcome new followers!#your patronage of the nehswritesstuffs blog is appreciated and I hope you have a pleasant stay#I'm gonna pin this just in case

Just read through your two chapters on Le Fantom, or however it was spelled. I am very intrigued so far. I love the concept, and unless I’m mistaken, is that a ghost they are tracking? That behavior doesn’t match Akumas.
That said, can we expect you to notify us if you decide to write more?
(re: this fic)
You are not mistaken! There is definitely a ghost on the loose. That's why the Infi-Map took Danny to Paris.
(That being said, this story is not without an akuma. More confusion for the people trying to figure out what's going on that way. Besides, it's not like Gabriel's going to avoid akumatizing someone when the opportunity arises just because someone's come to town for a business meeting.)
I still intend to write more on this one; I am aware that it doesn't seem this way, but I am slowly whittling down the WIPs I'm posting so I can turn more attention to the fics I've got planned out (large swaths, anyway) but haven't posted, and this is one of them.
But, yes, I will certainly have a post on tumblr when I do post more, and if I've come up with a better title by then (hopefully), it'll also be crossposted on the AO3 and FFN (I'm Lynse on both sites), and there'll be a note on tumblr and in the author's notes about this working title for those who are trying to match it up. Plus I'll edit the primary post of the fic here to include the off-site links. In theory, if I do come up with a better working title for this (I've debated things like 'A Ghost of a Chance' or something similar), I could start posting the four bits I have here to AO3 at least so people can have a way to track it that doesn't rely on easily missed tumblr posts, but the title is still eluding me at the moment.
#titles are not my strong suit and it shows#ladylynse#asks#fic: le fantome#fic: Le Fantôme#my writing#reactions to my stuff#I don't have the ending for this figured out but I know all the important bits when it comes to building the story#so the ending would come#I think you've seen the four bits I mentioned but if not there's one Amity Park segment and three Paris ones
