Fuck can’t you just slightly recolor the characters and change the name of the story so you can monetize your own version of Lore Olympus?

With all due respect in the tone of my answer: because that would be defeating the entire point of creating Lore Rekindled. If I wanted to create an "original" Greek myth re-interpretation comic, I would have done that from the start. But what drives me to create Rekindled is to give myself and the rest of the folks disappointed in how LO turned out some closure. It's not just re-interpreting the tale of Hades and Persephone, it's re-interpreting Rachel's version of that tale and attempting to restore some of the magic that we all felt for LO back in 2018.

I might talk a lot of shit about LO, but all of the credit for Rekindled's existence goes to LO, it literally would not exist without LO or Rachel there to inspire it to exist, for better and for worse. The spirit of what Rekindled is in and of itself exists in much of the fandom, it exists in all of the fanfiction AU content, the redraws, the edit content - I'm just someone with a lot of experience drawing comics and a massive hyperfixation that needed to be satisfied (￣y▽,￣)╭

I never created Rekindled with the intent of profiting off it. I created it because I had a burning voice in the back of my brain telling me that I had to do justice by the potential we all saw in LO, that I needed to give myself and others the chance to re-experience LO in a familiar and comforting way - a way that makes it feel like reading LO for the first time again - that could give us something new to look forward to every week. The joy and excitement I see from people every week when I release new episodes is really all I wanted to see, and it's still been so much more than I expected it to be, more than what money could give me.

Consider the tale of the ship of Theseus - if I swap out the mast, change the color of the sails, replace the wood, can it still be called the ship of Theseus? Is it even the same ship anymore?

a redraw meme! I'm a little mad at myself for not doing this for a few years (I've done a few other redraws in the meantime, but...it wouldve been cool to have a bunch of years in a row! TwT)

2007 was the earliest made on gimp, a touchpad and NO pressure (obvious with the THICK CHUNKY LINES. im 90% sure I did lineart, colored over them, then lined over them again all on 1 layer...) plus the pattern fills gimp had (the stripes and rainbows, plus the repeating space background that needed a desperate scale-up...)

2015 might be the most obviously tmm inspired style wise ( and I think...this character WAS a tmm oc, actually, so this tracks. her name was star hoshiko (yes. star star.) and she was infused with star power instead of an animal. whatever that means. in my defense I was Ten 👍) and was when I was still using sai!!

2016&17 were me trying to sort of push into semi-realism, the smaller eyes, the more realistic skirt in the '16 version and more realistic hair in the '17 version, and also the first ones done in clip studio which is still my mvp program.

2018 was the furthest from the original, me REALLY pushing orangey yellows for some reason (the darker oranges let the yellow glowy parts stand out more was probably my logic at the time?) it's also funny to see that I went back to a more cartoony/anime style between 2017! the eyes got bigger again, the hair more stylized (esp with the shading/highlighting!) yet the clothes got more detailed....

2024- this time around I wanted to try and capture elements of the original design, since it seemed I was drifting further and further away from it... those very bright lemony yellows that scare me to work with sometimes, the original stripes, that BAD dark yellow for the base of the dress... I know a lot of people will prefer the semi-realism of the earlier years but I feel like the very anime style is more FUN. and I feel a lot more confident in my posing, expressions, and I just. focus more on having fun than making her pretty. that being said I did try to add little details from the previous years designs :3 doing redraws is always so nice to reflect on style and improvement!! I totally recommend doing one if you want to, a blank version is here!

also for funsies, heres how gross the flats look. man i HATE that weird base dress shade T_T u can tell I did shift it to be SLIGHTLY warmer, just a bit....the cool-toned shading pushes it back to the lemony again tho, lol

I was looking at old art and decided I wanted to redraw one from 2018 or so. I have no story for the new art, my only promot is Zacharie teaching Bad Batter how to dance. Did Batter decide he didn’t need to purify the world? Did Zacharie’s words somehow change his mind? Who knows, I just like Bad Batter.

also! This has been the first zachary drawing in a LONG time! I finally got to draw Zacharie’s design based off of a drawing mortis ghost did. My old zachary art had him in a sweater with black pants and a skinny ass body, but there’s something charming about drawing him as a stout, tattooed, stubbled guy in a t-shirt. Hey there everyone! I was inspired by some friends to finally make a new introduction post, this one for me and my system. I am an endogenic soulbond system named the Dragon Soulbond System. I am married to my in-system spouse Vandarian, and we plan on sharing more of us and our system together!

About Our Relationship

Vandarian and I have been together since the 29th of December 2015 and married in May 8th 2018 (this is a guess since we were going through trauma at the time and don’t remember our exact marriage date) and we have three beautiful soulbond children! I’ve been host to a soulbond system since I was very young but didn’t know until recently that I was part of a system or what it was called, I just called things my own words until I learnt of the term soulbond and endogenic systems. I feel so much happier being able to connect to my soulbonds in a better way which is awesome! We thought we’d make a proper post for everyone to know about us :)

I apologise for the old art, this is the only full reference I have of them that I’ve drawn, but I plan on redrawing them!

Vandarian is my spouse. They are from a species of alien called Bluuven (they don’t like being called alien by most people though as it has bad memories tied to it) and they are two years older than me. They are incredibly intelligent and can build almost any sort of technology, and can also grow sweet plants with their magic. They’re very sassy and have a lot of energy, and they’re very protective of me and my soulbonds. Van has DID, schizophrenia, autism, PTSD, anxiety and depression, and we help each other through the things that are upsetting us. They are very talented at many things such as dancing and singing, and they love showing off for others by looking good and showing that they’re very talented in the stuff they can do. They have tentacles in their back and they have mind reading abilities which are both from their species but they also have some unique abilities other members of their species don’t have. They are an absolute sweetheart and make me so happy

my toxic trait is looking at your art and thinking that i could do that too. everytime i try drawing Transformers it ends up lookin like a pile of metal that got ran over by two semi trucks blasted to cybertron and back then got the shit beaten out of it by Optimus Prime himself 😭

but fr though, how do you do it? like what kinds of shapes are they made of? how do all their weird alien metal parts move?

what may work for my style might not for you, as i've unfortunately learned through my years of yearning for/trying out another artist's skill, and that's okay. but i am very honored to be that kind of artist to you 💗 beating yourself up for not being like me won't help you, though 🥹 your art is great, regardless of if it looks like mine or not. i'm going on 7 years of doing this after all! (also i started with bayverse of all things 😵)

and honestly, a lot of it is just experimenting and finding what's right for you, what you need to improve/improvise on, and what you want out of your art. for me, i found that i have a very difficult time actually getting that sharp, blocky industrial style of robots down and eventually opted for a more organic, squishier look. but i do maintain their proportions as they're wildly different from a human's ghsdfsjs

you're already off to a great start doing exactly what i did to learn: redrawing screenshots from the shows. i learned most of what i know from tfp, with a lot of bayverse and g1 mixed in there. it took me about two years of that before i felt confident enough to start making original art consistently. it takes time (and tbf, i was still learning how to art in general when i started. so you really are off to a great start)

this is the kind of art i made in 2017:

massively different from my art now, right? through all these screenshots, i'd test out new ways to draw and color. at one point, every piece i made was trying something new. and it was okay if it didn't work out. means i know what not to do next time lol generally though, i'd NEVER do lineart. i mostly focused on building up my sketching and coloring skills, as seen here in my 2018 art:

and that kind of fucked me over for life so now i am left with painting over the sketch 😂 i digress though

in all honesty i've spent my entire art career figuring out how the fuck all their weird alien metal parts move 💀 a lot of it is BSing, some is recycling the same poses to make things easier on yourself and the rest is studying studying studying. cannot tell you the amount of times i've rewatched certain bayverse scenes frame by frame to figure out how all their parts move in tandem — i still don't know! 😅 g1 was a nightmare to figure out because of its blocky simplicity and limited range of motion. it's still a struggle to this day haha

it's really difficult how to explain how exactly i draw transformers, as it's just... something i do nowadays. there's not a ridiculous amount of thought put into it since i've built up my skill. but here's generally how i sketch their bodies and what shapes i use:

the first is slightly different as its a more detailed approach than g1 so just imagine the arms are a little rounder — "marshmallow," as my brother would call it — like the sketches in the second (even if those are a little more advanced in the process than the first)

my best advice to you is to learn their proportions and articulation via redrawing screenshots — various ones! i chose the most dynamic poses for my megatron practices in 2018 to nail it in my head lol but yes shows like tfp and earthspark are great for that (you could probably even do with looking at the storyboard animations for earthspark to help!)

and remember, i'm still learning too! i'm not gonna pretend like i know what i'm doing. but i'm glad i inspire you :)

Did this piece of art redraw challenge Im start going to redraw one of my older traditional from 2018 to 2020 and some times even I have a art block when I got nothing to draw right at the moment. Oh boy it feels good going back to my roots lol. This is an AU from like 2018 where all my OCs are evil now for some reason, except now it's not 2018 and I can actually give them good reasons for being evil.

You might have noticed how the guy is snarling, but half of his face is smiling, almost like there's two of him or something. This isn't DID, but instead, a mad scientist having a mental breakdown, getting high off werewolf blood and getting possessed. The spirit possessing him says a lot of nonsense about "I am your animal instinct" but is actually just fricking with him. He's actually one of the scientist's victims who died in an experiment involving... Remnant? Determination? Uh... whatever the Pokemon version of soul essence that gives you power ups is, and is getting both a second chance at life, and some sweet, sweet petty revenge. 

The scientist himself is trying his absolute hardest to keep himself and everything around him under total control, and only to some success. The idea is that in the main timeline, he's always taking the blame for everything and believes it's his responsibility to make things right. Twist that and you've got a man who needs to control everything for the sake of controlling it.

The big containers full of colour aren't literally for rainbows (just quoting the song at the top there) but is like... pokemon type essence? magic? stuff? And he needs to extract it from the blood for, y'know, mad science reasons.

So... what's this guy's name anyway? Well, in the main timeline, he's called Will Daniels, but had a crisis (because 90% of his character development happens due to a crisis) and changes his name without forsaking his identity. His name before that point was Daniel Willow. In this AU, he's still Daniel Willow (because he never had that crisis), but the spirit possessing him is a "will" of his own, and thus calls himself Will.

I've been telling myself I've wanted to do a redraw of this for five years and I think it paid off

hi! i’m (relatively) new to this blog, reading on webtoons. i looked through the tags and i’m wondering what the “goodbye epilogue” is? also there are some other characters (the other fallen humans?) who are in the header and seem to have mini comic(s?) of their own. where can i read those? or are they gonna be part of the redraw? sorry for all the questions i just love the story you’re telling heheh

// the story originally was started in 2018 (February), but i didn't take it seriously and cancelled it after (in the redraw's comic order) mid chapter 3 because too many characters were in play and i got overwhelmed. but, once DR came out (October) I got re-inspired and continued in 2019 with a time skip.

Years later, here we are, the Tumblr version is almost over (epilogue has one more ask day, then a comic to wrap it up) That's like, chapters 3-7. Quite a big chunk of the story that hasn't been covered in the redraw. Some of that I feel was mishandled and needs to be fixed, so the redraw's purpose is to both fill in the missing gaps from the missing Chapter 3 and then the sections that I feel need to be re-written.

reading the tumblr AFR version is like reading a novel with missing pages. I'm in the process of refilling those pages, but that'll take years to do so. so while you can read it, I'd recommend just being patient ^_^; I'll be back in November with more comic updates.

Brief Post on the AU's Origins

This isn't really a headcanon, but a post about how the AU came to life. How I just wanted a short little comic, to making this into a full blown AU.

NEW CHAPTER ON AO3!!

I believe some of you are wondering how that progressed. I’m sure I covered this before, albeit briefly, but if I haven’t, I’m happy to bring it out. I've only told a few people about how it came into existence and I did write it at least once in the info box on a sprite animation I made back in 2018. And, that's where it starts, and that's also when I barely joined the fandom.

I wanted to have a crossover made for Classic and X, considering, at the time, I had the information of the two not being so directly connected to each other, and I was ALL OVER THE PLACE for the ship at the time (who am I kidding, I still kinda am lmao). I am one of those who headcanon they definitely are connected directly, and it should be that way imo. Since, in the classic games, at least some of them, Zero was in the process of being made. Especially Megaman 2: The Power Fighters. It may or may not be canon to the timeline. I say it does but idk how other people feel about it.

Though, I consider that canon, so- take that with what you will.

Anyway, ever since I knew of this happening, I wanted a crossover between the two games so bad. See how Rock and Roll react to X and Zero being from the future. How X and Zero's love influenced other., That kind of thing. Especially considering how that's also how Rock and Bass became shipped in my little circle lmao. I think I'll post another headcanon soon, possibly.

I drew a couple pieces pertaining to this, planning out how some scenarios could go, including a cover to the comic. Which I haven't posted anywhere, unfortunately, and I thought I did. But I didn’t. I also did a redraw, which I might also post but I'm not sure where I put it or the og, as it's all drawn traditionally.

Though, after all of that, this was also before I made the blog in November 2018. And the name was gonna be "The Love and Loveless". Yeah. Doesn't sound like a fitting title at all, does it? As a romantic writer and illustrator, if the story has romance at least half predominantly in the story, I naturally make a romantic title to it. And I didn't like it. I'm also one of those artists that come up with things on the spot and I usually like them. They mostly stay as they are, but sometimes, even after I like the first idea to come to mind, I'll change it eventually. And this was one of thoses things where I didn't like the first thing AT ALL and needed to change it.

So, for the next couple weeks after the title was first thought of, I thought about what the better title could be, and then my thought process went like this as I stimmed: "Hmmm… X is blue, Zero is red.. though mine is black armored. Hmmmmmm. Maybe something with 'Code' in it. Since the story does revolve around them more heavily in it. Ruby and Sapphire, maybe. Nah, too long. Crimson and Sapphire is definitely too long… …Waaait- Crimson. Sapphire. Crimpphire. Code: Crimpphire!! That's it!!"

And that's how the title became as it is now! Not only does it revolve them as a pair, but also as individuals and how their connection made them feel as one. How they supported each other as well as took care of themselves. They indirectly taught each other to do what they can to fight the evil in the world, albeit it was mostly Mavericks for a time. They became each other's heart and soul.

Though- back on topic, sorry lol you get the idea

I loved the title then so I decided to change it to that when I made more fan stuff to accommodate the comic. Though, as the month progressed (this is from September to October btw, right around the start of being in the fandom still), I thought about what X and Zero could do with the Command Mission crew at that point, then it escalated what could happen if they had a beach trip and then took the train home (you can thank the "Spirited Away" track "The Sixth Stop" for this lmao, along with a fanart of X and Zero resting on a train by themselves IT'S SO CUTE!! If I find the link I will put it here), and my mind just went BRRRR and made a little script out of it.

And it.. well - progressed into something way more than just a Classic/X crossover comic. I thought about what other scenarios can happen, especially during X5, so I started making the script for Zero and Dr Light's Deep Conversation. And it became the demo for this AU.

Then it escalated into what if I made this entire thing into an audio drama??? And that idea seemed to work- except I was dealing with a lot of problems behind the scenes, that I felt overwhelmed, and from then on by this post here, I decided to not make it into a full on audio drama anymore. But it's still been a huge process but I think I finally found an outlet that can work for this.

Especially since I haven't done it in literally over 15 years.

I DECIDED TO MAKE A FANFIC OUT OF IT!! And then audio dramas, comics and a few tidbits of art are gonna come out of that!! It took me this long to consider it but I think I'm finally doing it!!

Sorry this also turned into a full on announcement on what the AU's direction is gonna be, but I'm just excited to bring it out!!

That's how the AU became a thing and I'm glad it has with the friends I've gained over the years and it's great to have them!!

I'm glad you all came to see this and it has fed you well so far and I hope I can FINALLY give you a cohesive story I wanted to share since day 1!!

[These are Old outfit designs, I redesigned them sorta recently but haven't finished a drawing of them, sobs] I first drew Aerani in like, 2016 I think? and Iso followed not long after! Iso is a bunny chimera, so he's got big silly ears, wahoo. Chimeras have identification codes to keep track of like, when they were created, and Iso's is I-20: Chimera Generation I, Specimen Number 20. Aerani gave him the nickname Iso <3

Here was Iso in like. 2017? 2018? idk but it was ages ago. He's changed quite a bit, mostly bc I would Constantly misplace sketchbooks and Constantly forget exactly what things looked like lksad;f

I was Nervous about jumping straight into making smth about them, because I feel like I need wayyyy more practice to be able to tell the story I really wanna tell, so I ended up scooping up my dorky purple merchant Kalamari like 'you know what sure, you can be the protagonist of my practice project and it will be Silly As Hell'. I call my main Eventual Goal 'Quote Unquote Quest', so Kalamari's adventure I'm calling 'Quote Unquote Quest Negative One', since it becomes before the main thing! Aerani will be in that practice project as a side character, bc he's Glass's little brother, but Iso won't be

Also, please witness Aerani's pet, a squishy jello-like blob he calls a frog. It is absolutely not a frog. It sits on his head a lot and makes squeaky lil noises

While I do like their color palette, I'm gonnadesign one to match. everyone else. The colors I wanna use for this project (that might eventually change ofc) are brown, orange, golden yellow, magenta, a slightly more purple magenta, violet, indigo, and blueee, with Very Dark Blue and Very Light versions of the other colors for lines and junk. Basically Kalamari Colors ft. some extras to spice things up, since my silly littol practice project revolves around her and how he sees the world:

TECHNICALLY not an archive post...these are actually 2020-era edits of the 2018 updated references I posted on the old blog.  This was the first time I ever like...���mass edited” previous references before (as opposed to redrawing them all), and I’d like to do this approach in the future for older character art, like for IF and S&A!

Most of what was changed was simply for the purpose of being more visually interesting.

I feel like, as deities, they should be very complex and pretty on the whole, but as a skill level thing, no way in hell can I design that lmfao.  So I’d rather them all look like a consistent unit, which is what I was finding lacking before.

It’s almost as if I came up with the designs mostly on the fly 10 years ago and needed to improve from there, or something.  But for now, I’m satisfied with how these look!
